Sleek and Simple.
July 14, 2017
have not been able to get old shower head off just yet due to mineral buildup but nothing a little wd 40 and a wrench cant fix.. this review is based solely on appearance and durability. Item was nice, exactly as pictured.. Slightly bigger than I had imagined but not much bigger than my old, considering the room needed for the filter itself.. and with the filter in it was heavier, OBVIOUSLY.. but not ridiculous to where I felt the product would damage any other shower parts. Easy to put the filter in and put together, really is self explanatory.. Feels solid and quite durable, I can only imagine it will perform and meet or exceed my expectations, no regrets on this purchase!
My skin thanks me for buying!
March 27, 2017
I did a lot of research to find a chlorine filter shower head. I purchased an "eco friendly" one from our local health food store and it isn't half bad. I am very sensitive to chlorinated water, my skin gets super dru and flaky and hurts badly, almost like a burn. With the other filter, I still dealt with the dry skin but not as intense. I can shower daily or twice daily and not have my skin dry out or hurt with this shower head which is AMAZING! I was sure that because it was a big commercial brand that they'd cut corners and it wouldn't be as good. I'm so glad I trusted reviews and was proven wrong! This is a great filter, and the water pressure is fantastic! My husband and I both love the stream options. Great value!
LOVE THIS!!!!!

I purchased this based on reviews.

While I live in a big city that has generally good water, I also live in a very old building. The brownstone apartment building I call home is over 100 years old. I've lived here for a few months now, and I noticed I was buying a lot more bottled water because the water just tasted bad out of the old kitchen sink I have. I purchased a Brita pitcher w/filter for my fridge; problem solved. I then began to think about my shower. Since moving into this apartment, my skin has become dry. My shampoo wasn't lathering very well and my hair seemed brittle.

I ordered this shower head on Friday, August 26th and it arrived Monday, August 29th. Installation was easy. The package comes with an ample amount of plumber's tape. I did take the shower head apart and remove the little stopper that slows the water pressure. This is easy to do. The filter has stickers on each side - these need to be removed before use. Note - once the filter is properly installed in the shower head, it is heavy. I was worried it would be too heavy for my old bathroom's shower apparatus.

I've been using the new shower head for a week now. I'm already noticing benefits. I'm using less shampoo and soap because they now lather as they should. The skin on my face isn't as dry and I'm already using less moisturizer post-shower. The water pressure is amazing. I actually feel clean when I get out of my shower.

I would definitely recommend this ... Only one word of caution ... if you live in a old apartment like I do, and you have a clawfoot tub, make sure you have adequate shower curtain coverage all the way around your tub ...

Dry and Damaged Hair, Please Read!
August 24, 2016
I cannot express how thankful I am to have found this product! I also own the shower head version WSH-C 125 and it transformed my daughter's chlorine damaged hair back to silk!
I had exhausted everything and after extensive research I learned what hard water can do to hair. Add to the equation our new pool and chlorine and her fine blonde hair turned to straw in a matter of 2 months. Now I no longer smell the chlorine in her hair and after one shampoo her hair was changed. I was so shocked. I have a full review of this struggle under the other shower head. I myself have brown fine but coarse highlighted hair and my natural "frizz" and texture of my hair has improved dramatically as well. It is softer than it has been in years. All the damage and abuse is being washed away.

I decided to purchase the hand held version as well due to a large golden retriever that loves to find mud puddles in the backyard. I was nervous seeing the earlier reviews with the mounting bracket, but I did find where they changed this and improved the product. My husband installed this in 10-15 minutes which included removing the old one as well. We have low water pressure and I was worried about the filter making it even worse. The flow and pressure from both of the shower heads is better than my old ones! It's insane AND we left the flow restrictors in place! I actually have decent water pressure now and I get hot water more quickly. Usually it takes 4-5 minutes for our hot water to make it downstairs to our bathroom and kitchen sink. I had hot water in 1:45 seconds. The kitchen....still a sore spot!

I have no problems with the angle or adjusting the spray. Is it heavy? Of course. It's just as heavy as my old hand held that didn't have a filter! Luckily I don't have to try and shower with this in my hand because I would make a massive mess! I love having it to bathe the dog for his inopportune rolls in the mud and to clean the shower as well. When I am bathing the dog the handle feels comfortable in my hand and it's not heavy to me, it feels just like my previous Moen one. The mount is also nice and secure. It's a high quality fixture.

Whatever your needs are for the shower head you can order this one in confidence. I'm glad I decided to try it. Don't let the old reviews deter you, they did improve the mounting bracket. This thing is awesome. Attractive, functions, amazing results and cheap filter replacement cost.

09/06/2016 Update: My damaged hair no longer feels like straw. I had no idea that hard water could play such an important role! I attributed the texture and feel to having highlights and color on a regular basis. I have been using the new shower heads just shy of a month and unlike my daughter's transforming over night mine has taken longer, and rightfully so. My frizz is under control and continuing to improve. I have also noticed it is starting to look substantially healthier. It no longer feels like straw either. Honestly, I can't even remember my hair being soft due to the texture which has now changed so much it's still surreal. My hair hasn't looked this heathy in 20 years. Reminds me of the hair I had as a child.
I was also watching my daughter play volleyball this weekend and sitting in the upper level I noticed her hair shined more than any of the other girls. It has a certain glow that is easy to see and has great body to it. No products being used. All the money I had wasted on products and treatments and it's just a simple shower head. Wow.
works for the hard water

love it!. use the test paper to test the hardness of the water. The right is the water coming from my kitchen and the left is coming from Culligan. It really works for the hard water.

Better faucet water filter
March 27, 2017
I've always bought Pur faucet filters. The last 3 or 4 I've bought have failed in one way or another. One had the handle fall off, two or three have leaked where you screw in the filter on the body. This one is much different and smaller. The stream of filtered water is much stronge than the Pur. One stupid thing I like a lot is with the Culligan unit is when you have the filtering on and turn off the water, the little switch that tells it to filter water turns off to, so the next time you turn on the faucet it isn't on filtering. This should save a little life on the filter. I've been looking for a replacement for a while, and after some research cam across this culligan unit. It seems to be living up to its reviews. The filters seem to be less than the Pur as well.
Watch out Brita and PUR you are a thing of the past!
March 17, 2016
I have purchased Brita and Pur brand filters of this same kind. They are junk. The design of these brands are poor and do not last. Brita caused my faucet to break at the bend and leak. The faucet had to be replaced due to how difficult it is to turn the knob to filter water which pulled on the faucet eventually breaking it. Pur did not honor their warranty when their device would not seal when I replaced the filter one time. The Pur filter squired water all over my kitchen! This filter is compact, filters twice as much water as the above listed brands, and durable. The design is simple but perfect. It does not leak or cause strain on you facet. I highly recommend this brand! The water tastes great!
Better Quality & Smaller than PUR - Auto-Off Function is Awesome!
January 23, 2016
Been using PUR faucet mounts for years. Got tired of changing filters so often, I never had leak issues with the PUR though like other people have stated, anyway got this Culligan Filter and I've only been satisfied!- Smaller than Brita (See video)- Auto-Off Function is GREAT (See video)- MUCH better quality, there's actually metal parts to this, everything in the PUR is cheap plastic- Hopefully won't rust like PUR!? (See video)NO idea why they don't sell this at the local retailers, it's a solid product. Hope this helps!

July 20, 2015
This filter was amazing. I installed it on my faucet at my apartment as an alternative way to have purified water. Initially, before installing the filter, we kept on having to buy gallons of water because the taste of tap water was intolerable. I was worried that the filter would not solve this problem, but I was wrong. The filter removed the unwanted taste from our water and we never had to buy another gallon of water again. We were spending about 4 dollars on water a week, which means 16 bucks a month. That's already close to what we paid for the filter! It was an investment on our part. Now, I'm no handy woman and I installed this by myself with zero help from my husband. That should give you an idea of how easy it was to install. It's a two-three step process. By hand, I unscrewed the original aerator from my faucet, and screwed in the culligan filter. I didn't need to add an adapter but if you do, that's where the third step comes in.At first I thought the filter looked odd and worried it might get in my way while washing dishes, but this wasn't a problem either. It's a pretty small filter, about half the size of a 16oz glass. And if you're really worried about the look, then maybe try the chrome colored one. We had white appliances so it ended up matching ok.I definitely recommend this if you're looking to save money and improve the taste of your water. This is a great deal.
One pic is worth 1000 gallons.
November 11, 2014
Really easy to install. Took about 2 minutes (to find a wrench). Unscrewed the aerator, screwed in the adapter, and in about 5 minutes total I had filtered water. The picture speaks by itself. The sample on the left is from the exact same source as the filtered one on the right. I'd rather have my water clear, thank you.
Excellent water filter
March 29, 2014
This is an excellent water filter. Its main features:- compact design- the unfiltered water nozzle looks just like a regular faucet nozzle - water is not entering the filter section- the filtered water is delivered right from the filter, and when the filter is replaced that whole section is replaced so there is no accumulating residue, etc.- the button that is pulled out to get filtered water automatically goes back in to the unfiltered position after the water stops flowing for about 5 to 10 seconds. Ihave read other reviews criticizing the lack of the button going back in by itself. I think the issue there is that the reviewer didn't wait the 5 to 10 seconds and possibly didn't shut the water all the way off.- excellent filtering, removing contaminants- water has no off taste; nice and cleanThis product may not get the in-store shelf space of other products such as Brita and Pur. However, this is not an off brand. Culligan makes many water conditioning products and has done so for many years. It looks like Amazon has the replacement filters readily available. I am looking forward to many years of service from this unit and the replacement filters. Highly recommended.

So glad it lives up to its claims
May 18, 2017
It's what I needed since I could smell our city water (nasty) and I was itching after showering until I was told about filtered shower heads. I researched until I found a happy medium for effectiveness and cost. I actually got 2 because my daughter and her husband were having issues in their city. It works fine. I'd give it 5 stars but I feel it's a little top heavy and am concerned about in future of it not holding up. I had read reviews and some said to remove the little gray ring so water pressure not inhibited but we put it back as it was fine with it on.
For handheld shower: Nice but certainly a bit heavy.
April 1, 2017
I have bought a handheld shower. Just installed it and used it once by taking around 15 to 20 minutes shower. Honestly, it's bit heavy. I'd say HEAVY. If you have a habit to shower by holding the shower in kne hand, specially while shampooing, it's going to take a while before you get used to it.

I have two teenage girls. I had to instruct them at least 5 times that be careful with the shower. Make sure you don't knock it on my shower stall's glass panes or on the base.

Before I bought this, I used Sprite filter and fixed it on the shower arm and then fixed my handheld shower. So, technically, the water would first flow through the filter and then the handheld shower would use the filtered water. I guess, I liked that a little more as I could use any handheld shower I want.

Said that, this filter has its own benefits. So, um going to try it anyway.
Nice filtering shower head
March 12, 2017
Nice filtering shower head! Filters are easy to replace. I got this because my hair always felt dry and tangled. A friend mentioned my water might be hard. Sure enough, a water test showed my water was slightly hard. Hair feels nice and soft now! The only criticism I have is it doesn't allow you to angle it down as far as my old / standard shower head.
Great product/poor hardware
January 8, 2017
I am on a well with a water softening system but my hair was still way too dry and brittle. I bought this since the filter is in the shower head, saving space in my tiny shower, and I started seeing the difference within two days! My hair actually feels hydrated after a shower, not dry and brittle.
However, the design is terrible. The shower head is way too heavy for the hardware they supply. It droops straight down as soon as you place it in the arm mount. The arm mount for my previous handheld shower head was super stiff and hardly moved at all so I reinstalled that one and it does better than what Culligan supplied. I'm not sure what I would have done if I didn't have that one! However, 2 months later and it's starting to droop under the weight as well. Great product if they could fix this issue.
Highly Recommended!
January 19, 2014
This purchase came as a result of my project of reducing chemical loads and toxins in the home. I just installed this shower head and must say that I absolutely love it! The only problem I see right now is that I am staying in the shower much longer! I agree with the folks who declare that using this filter improves the skin and hair, and truly reduces the need for lotions and creams.

I would have awarded five stars except for the following: Installation was a real aggravation! I followed the instructions exactly and kept getting this dribbling of water rather than a shower stream. Tightening the connection did not help and I just ended up marring the finish. The problem was that you must FIRST INSTALL THE FILTER. The instructions never say that. This needs to be corrected! I assumed that a filter was already in the shower head and that the one in the package was a spare- since the directions never said to install it.

Also, the shower head is a little bulky and I notice that when I push the assembly higher to change the arc stream, that it eventually seems waft back down again. Nevertheless, now that I know how to install it I will purchase more for the other showers and I recommend it to others.

Great water filtration system
September 4, 2016
I feel that this is one of the best water filtration systems on the market. I would say that each item will last through about 3 filter changes (9 months to a year). After that many changes, it always seems time to get a new faucet mount. That is the only problem with it. When it works, it works great. It doesn't leak and it has a strealined design. Sure, I'd love for it to last many years (instead of just one). However, it's only about $20, so I can't expect too much. I recommend it.
Expected Culligan Quality
March 7, 2016
Culligan has been a big name in water related products for decades and the one does not disappoint. I was impressed with the efficiency and size (much smaller than I expected ... a good thing) as well as the ease of installation. Seems to filter well and, as I installed, is as "out of the way" as I expect it could be for a faucet attachment. Regardless of water pressure, don't expect a fast flow ... takes time to go through the filtering element. Hpwever, even the appearance of the water is better than through the faucet. I chose this product for the brand name, reasonable price (of both the unit itself AND the replacement cartridges shown above). I have only used it for a few weeks so far so cannot attest to how well the simple diverter will work over time ... seems to do a good job so far and will hopefully continue to do so. Only 4 stars simply because it is a bit in the way but, to be honest, probably as good as it gets for an add on product.
Pretty good
February 5, 2016
Ok, this filter is great but not 100%. But compared to some others i have used, it is better than most. The only problems i have with it are mechanical--but the other filters i've tried had worse mechanical issues. The bottom part of the assembly is INCREDIBLY difficult to screw off to replace the filter. There is nothing to grab onto! If they would fix it to where you could hold onto it either with your hands or a set of pliers that would solve the issue. The other thing is I have been through 3 of these in the past 2 years. They don't hold up very long. But they are cheap enough to replace, so i keep going with the same brand. Overall one of the best filters out there.
Does the trick BUT...
June 25, 2015
My little history with faucet filters. I know I had to get a water filter for my faucet because the water in my area had a bad taste to it. If you are familiar with that taste then you should unfortunately be all too familiar of what a penny tastes like. I had a Brita faucet filter kit before this and unfortunately that did not work out for me because of the screwing adapter. The Brita for some reason was not long enough so when I screwed on the Brita it wouldn't tighten and it would just pop off. The few times I did get a chance to taste the water and the filter it did make a difference and the different settings to have a powerful spray or a regular faucet stream was a nice bonus...but after many many attempts at remedying this, and many wet shirts. I settled for my default faucet head and continued my search for filtered water. So I bought this Culligan because of the other reviews I had seen, so I thought I'd give it a go.The good stuff. Well I'm pleased to say that this fits much much better. My water does not leak around the sides, the filter doesn't pop off and spray water everywhere. The filter works just like my Brita did so I'm finally getting a spring water like taste instead of a mouthful of nickels! This kit comes with 2 adapters (some people need them, some don't) an extra filter(just like the Brita did), and of course the actual device itself. The bad stuff. As much as I like this Culligan, the extra settings on my Brita made me want to go back to it. Luckily the adapter from this works better than the ones that the Brita came with so I am currently using a combination of Brita filter and Culligan faucet adapter! Now I get spring water like taste and without any of the unfortunate sprays of water everywhere!
Best among facet mounted filters but be prepared to replace main unit every year
June 11, 2013
I love the filter and ease of use. I tried PUR and Brita units but they both had significant problems from day one. This unit works as advertized, fits my faucet perfectly and comes with adapters for different faucets. Also, this is the only unit that does not leak (more on that later). The filter on-off button is crude but it is also easier to use than the PUR and Brita units. Plus I like the water taste from this unit better than the PUR and Brita units. As simple single-stage a facet filter system, at this price, it earns 5 stars.BUT ONE STAR OFF BECAUSE: The unit breaks after a year or two of use. At this price I don't mind replacing it because the price of a brand new unit (which comes with a filter cartridge) is pretty close to the price of a new filter cartridge. That is still better than the PUR and Brita units since those break within a month and are relatively overpriced. My very first unit developed a crack on the top after ~2 years of use and it almost exploded under water pressure. The plastic housing actually yellowed due to sitting in direct sunlight right under in our kitchen window. I caught the crack and replaced the unit before it exploded. That first unit's filter on-off button would stick in the on position but that was just a minor issue. My second unit is starting to leak where the plastic housing meets the metal faucet portion. The second unit's on-off button always worked flawlessly. So on to my third unit in 3 years. If the unit lasted longer I would give 5 stars, but in the facet filter category this unit is a clear winner in my opinion.
Tried Them All, So Far This One's Best, But It Breaks
October 19, 2010
I went through several Pur units and finally gave up on them, after they consistently sprung leaks. I then tried Brita, which initially I liked a lot, but after I accidentally broke the first unit, the replacement unit stopped working after only a few months (the water just didn't go through the filter). So I finally tried Culligan.First, it costs less than the others, for both the unit and the filters.Second, the metal mount is obviously superior. I didn't have a problem with the Pur or Brita plastic mounts because my faucet is threaded on the outside and neither ever popped off, but many people have had problems with them. The Culligan is very solid, screws right on, and stays firmly attached without dripping.Third, the filtration function automatically turns off when you turn off the water, so that the next time you turn it on, the default is nonfiltered water. This saves the life of the filter--it filters only when you want it to. However, on my unit this function stopped within a few weeks; the plunger that is supposed to pop back in when you turn off the tap, and thereby close the filter, stays open, so I have to push it back in when I'm finished or it will automatically filter next time I turn on the faucet.Fourth, although some have commented that the flow through the filter is slow, in my view it's not so slow as to be a problem, just somewhat slower than the others. I also like the fact that it doesn't come out so forcefully that I have to be cautious when filling ice cube trays; with the Brita, it bounces out of the tray and sprays all over unless you keep the flow very low.Fifth, the unit is simple and sturdy. The only moving part is the plunger that engages the filter, and there don't appear to be places for it to spring leaks, so it appears that it'll last. The one issue--and the reason I didn't give it five stars: it has no indicator when the filter is used up. That's the downside of simplicity, I suppose. You have to make a note to replace it every two months, and that may be either sooner or later than you really need to. If they come up with some kind of simple indicator, this will be unbeatable.UPDATE: I've owned several of these. They last about two years before the water pressure cracks the top of the housing and starts squirting water. It cannot be repaired.

It Filters the water, but sprays like a hose.
April 15, 2017
It performs as described and in that regard I cant fault it. The area I live in has very hard water and it has been driving my wife and I insane. The filter has eliminated a vast amount of the issue we've run into with the water. However, the shower heads stream is really where I find fault in its design. The water only comes out in a direct stream and the pressure can be adjusted, but its still only in a very confined stream. Personally I don't care for the water to be so confined and that's why I've rated as i have.
Hardly perceivable
January 31, 2017
The right is before using the filtered shower head, the middle is after and the left is bottled water. It seems to have made a slight difference, hardly perceivable to me, I may try a a few more filters to see if they can give me a bigger difference.
Good shower head, not so great at reducing hardness of water
February 1, 2016
I bought a water meter to check the effectiveness of this shower head at reducing the hardness of my water. For clarity's sake, here are my results. All measurements are listed as ppm of total dissolved solids (TDS) and are temperature corrected.Water from tap: 433 ppm @ 21 deg CWater from shower head: 355 ppm @ 19 deg CThat's only an 18% decrease in the TDS of the water coming out of the shower head. That being said, it was still an improvement over my previous shower head and puts out a lot of water. I didn't even remove the flow restrictor like some of the other reviews mentioned.Don't expect this shower head to completely soften your water -- it's likely only a whole-house larger scale softener will do that -- but it does help to some degree and does definitely improve the smell and taste of hard water.
Good, not great. I don't notice much difference with hard water.
September 10, 2015
Pros: 5 minute easy install. Appears to be easy to change filter when the time comes. Love that it comes with the teflon tape.Cons: Lots of plastic parts, just painted in chrome. Somewhat useless "adjustable settings". Basic boring instructions.Tips: Peel off both stickers located on each side of the filter before inserting. One sticker on each side. The filter appears to be omni directional, so you can install it either way.To change the spray settings, just hold the "chrome" base, and rotate the black portion either clockwise or counter clockwise. We have very hard water, after installing this shower head with filter, I do notice a "slight" reduction in chlorine smell, but the water does not seem to be any less "hard". If anything, just a "SLIGHT" reduction in minerals. I have showered in homes & hotels with "SOFT" water, and the way your skin feels after rinsing off soap is a "slippery" sensation. I was expecting that with this filter, but I'm sorry to report that I notice hardly any difference. I still get the exact same "squeaky" sensation when rinsing soap off. That is why I say it does not appear to soften the water "that" much, only slightly. But once you see the filter size, it all makes sense. For such a small filter to be rated at ~1k gallons, there is no way it can remove that much minerals from the water... otherwise it would clog within a few weeks. But hey, it's better than nothing, right? All I ask is that it reduces the amount of hard water stains in my walk in shower, glass shower doors, and tiles along the walls of the shower. My skin doesn't seem to feel any different. But my skin is not the priority. I'm just tired of the hard water stains.I most likely will not buy a replacement filter, instead just buy another shower head with a large/wide spray pattern in 6 months or so. Unless, months from now, I see no hard water stain buildup... Time will tell.
Too top heavy, won't stay in place
May 27, 2015
I'm a little disappointed with this after my first shower with it. Installation was easy enough and it has enough water pressure for me but the thing is too top heavy because of the filter that the joint can't hold it in place. The weight of the shower head causes it to slowly point all the way down.

slowly & slowly get cracks on the top & then water started coming out from the top
August 21, 2016
this faucet is made up of cheap material this is why when you buy it looks good and works perfectly but gradually with time in about 6-10month the faucet slowly & slowly get cracks on the top and then the water started coming out from the top. Looks like the material is designed in a way that it won't last around an year but it would be good enough if someone looking for 6months and then they will have to buy new culligan faucet beside buying a new cartridge too. I started new one in september previous year used till july until the water start coming out from the top.
issues
May 3, 2016
Just ok. It worked ok for about a year. Yes, replacing the filters requires you use the faucet arm as leverage and then try like crazy to unscrew the filter. I feared several times I'd break the faucet arm.Now the pin won't retract to let the "clean" water go through. I took it apart and saw that there is a black gasket that is supposed to be on the pin inside the housing. It had broken into several pieces. So, that's a bummer. I threw away a good filter as I thought that's why it would not switch to filtered water, and now I put in yet another costly filter only to find out the filter was not the problem. Ugh. I will buy another faucet mount because I have so many of these expensive spare filters, I am committed to Culligan. Will try something else next time.
nothing fancy- works, may leak
February 7, 2016
A touch bulky, but the filter can rotate off to either side of the faucet. Without doing any thorough testing it seems to remove impurities and odor from the water. It's fairly inexpensive and more mobile than a bigger, more expensive system, while working quite well. One of the two filters I've used in this unit has leaked around the filter's edge. Also, the "filter replacement indicator" is a sticker that you put on your calendar to remind you it may be about time to buy a new one; nothing mechanical or built into the filter itself.
Bit of a disappointment, try the Culligan US-EZ1 instead!
May 24, 2015
Does what its supposed to, water tastes better than it did before, but the flow is SOOOOO slow. It takes a full minute and a half to 2 minutes to fill up a 12 ounce glass, and thats with the faucet on full-blast. I guess this is a side effect of the design. Speaking of the design, its also big a bulky, a pain in the butt when it comes to washing dishes if you have a smaller sink.If you have the ability to drill some holes, I would highly recommend checking out the Culligan US-EZ1 instead (http://www.amazon.com/Culligan-US-EZ-1-EZ-Change-Undersink-Filtration/dp/B000THIZUG/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1432493612&sr=8-12&keywords=culligan+filter).The US-EZ1 has a significantly longer filter life, comes with its own mini-faucet, and ends up being a lot less expensive over the long run (1.2 cents per gallon vs the FM-15A's 11 cents per gallon). I rent, so unfortunately couldn't drill the necessary holes in my countertop, but I'm regretting the fact that I didn't take a risk and just do it. The Culligan FM-15A is a disappointment.
Disappointed in this new filter
February 3, 2014
I have used PUR faucet filters for years and been mostly satisfied with them. However, my last one didn't work particularly well so when Consumer Reports top-rated the Culligan, I decided to give it a try. On the plus side, it seems to do what it's intended to do, filter water, at least as far as I can tell which is to say that my water tastes good. My problems with this filter are with it's design and aesthetics.1 - This is, of course, completely subjective, but I just don't like the way it looks. The shape is not particularly attractive and it has a large, prominently visible label with lots of small, almost unreadable text on it. To my eyes, it's ugly.2 - The most serious design problem is the button that switches the flow from filter to faucet. It is supposed to return to faucet mode whenever the water is turned off. It worked OK for about a week, but shortly thereafter began to stick and stay in filter mode so that when I turned the water on, it came through the filter. This is a problem because the instructions state that water over 100 degrees can damage the filter, something which could easily happen if the water is hot when turned on in filter mode.3 - The filter is designed to swivel on the faucet so it can be moved out of the way. While it does swivel properly, the joint is stiff enough that it loosen the connection to the faucet almost every day so that it leaks and has to be tightened. This is a small but very irritating flaw.4 - The flow is considerably slower than with the PUR filter.5 - There is no objective way to tell when to change the filter other than by date. This can't be accurate since household sizes and uses vary so widely.6 - I have been unable to find the filters available locally. When I need to replace the first filter, I will be buying a whole new PUR filter. Lesson learned.
Just OK But Hoped For Better
April 22, 2013
I always do tons of reading over many hundreds of product reviews before I buy. The reviews here convinced me to buy this Culligan FM-15A Level 3 Faucet Filter. Before I used it I tested my water with a HM Digital ZT-2 Basic TDS Tester, 0-999 ppm Measurement Range , 1 ppm Resolution, +/- 3% Readout Accuracy. This device tests for Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), which are the total amount of mobile charged ions, including minerals, salts or metals dissolved in a given volume of water in parts per million (ppm). Before the Culligan filter, my water reads total dissolved solids at 183 ppm. But after I run my tap very slowly through the Culligan to maximize time through the filter rather than force it through with higher pressure/flow rate I shave off a mere 10 ppm giving me TDS at 173. This left me rather disappointed. Granted this is a tiny filter but I expected better removal efficiency than that. Okay the specs don't mention any solids except for lead.So I bought a ZeroWater ZD-023 23-Cup Water Dispenser and Filtration System which has a filter which dwarfs the Culligan faucet mount. This unit even comes with a TDS tester to help you determine when to replace the filter. Same water same test within minutes of each other. Where the Culligan removed 10 ppm of total dissolved solids from my water, the ZeroWater filter removed all 183 ppm of TDS leaving me with a nice juicy 0! But like I said, the ZeroWater 5-stage filter dwarfs the tiny Culligan 3-stage faucet mount. Plus with the ZeroWater filter, water creeps through at a snails pace which is why I believe so much gets removed due to the time in contact with the various filter materials.*Culligan* claims it removes cryptosporidium, giardia cysts, lead, and chlorine.*ZeroWater* claims it removes copper, iron, zinc, aluminum, lead, chlorine, chromium-6, mercury, and hydrogen sulfide. Both have NSF International's certification. So do I use both in hopes of removing the 3 that ZeroWater doesn't mention and the other 7 that Culligan doesn't?Culligan costs $17 VS $23 for the 23-cup ZeroWater dispenser and deducts for the value of the included ZT-2 TDS water tester. On a pure value comparison ZeroWater wins. On a quality of water comparison I think ZeroWater still wins. Also 23 cups is a lot of water already filtered and awaiting use. Granted Culligan works as fast as you can open the tap but you loose additional points because the Culligan filter isn't as effective at a higher rate of flow from the tap. So better water isn't gained from this small tap affixed 3-stage filter unit unfortunately.I've used Brita pitchers and Pur tap affixed units in the past and don't like either. Which leaves the ZeroWater ZD-023 23-Cup Water Dispenser and Filtration System winning the comparison by a significant amount when comparing value of product and the quality of the filtered water.Sorry Culligan, perhaps some day I can test your very big very seemingly expensive whole house units. Perhaps it is there where you'll beat the competition eh?**Note: I don't work in the water filtration business. I work in the healthcare industry and the location uses neither of these brands I've compared.

Not for extremely hard watter
August 22, 2017
We recently purchased a new farmhouse on a well. We have a Kinetico whole house water softening system, which we brought with us from our previous farmhouse. The new place needs to be replumbed before we can install the system, and the water is incredibly hard, at almost 30 grains. Indiana is know to have some of the hardest water in the nation. After checking the Culligan's website, where they claim this filter is effective in removing rust, lime, and chlorine, I purchased this shower head filter as a stopgap measure, until we can get our whole house system installed. Unfortunately, I don't think this filter was designed to be able to handle water as hard as ours. It would be helpful if the company would provide some sort of rating scale for the product, indicating hardness in terms of grains. We noticed a very slight improvement, probably because it's getting some of the lime, but it's not dealing with the iron. Within a couple of days, the shower was orange again. I suspect this is a perfectly good filter for slightly to moderately hard water, but if you're expecting good results in extremely hard water, you're going to be disappointed. I'm going to end up having to get a rust removal treatment for my hair, I'm glad the manufacturer offers a warranty, because this ended up being a waste of my money.
Does it do anything?
August 25, 2016
I don't know what other reviewers are talking about personally. It could be that our water is particularly hard, about 160 tds or so. That being said, I tested the water after it exited the filter and the TDS was the same. I also checked the Gh and Kh using my water testing kit from my fish tank and neither changed at all. The water modes are fun at fist but you eventually just stick with the most basic one.
Doesn't work.
January 10, 2016
Doesn't work. We have horribly hard water in Miami Beach so we bought this thinking that it would cut down on the incredibly annoying hard water stains on the glass and metal in our brand new shower. It didn't help at all. We replace the filters on schedule and it never improves. Neither of us see any difference in our water in any aspect. The shower head itself works OK, but the filter is completely pointless.
Nothing but problems
December 3, 2015
I would not recommend this showerhead and am surprised by the high reviews. I live in a condo with hard water (no room for a softener) and hoped this would improve shower quality. It did in fact make the water feel "softer" for about 1 week then it was back to the way it was before. The showerhead did not seem to fit well on my standard shower arm - I had to tighten it over and over as it would leak where it met the shower arm but it still had a slow drip even after tightening daily for about a week. The most annoying thing is that it for some reason caused my shower to frequently and randomly discharge a several second stream of water up to several times a minute, requiring me to change a small bucket a couple times per day. That was obviously not acceptable due to water waste and made me feel like a had a broken shower. I never had this problem before and the whole shower had just been remodeled 6 months prior. After a month I removed this showerhead (with a lot of muscle, WD 40, and a vice grip since I had to tighten it so much) and put the previous Delta model back on and haven't had a problem since. Definitely not worth the hassle. I'm trying the shampoo/conditioner and hair treatment packets for hard water instead.
NOT FOR HARD WATER DAMAGED HAIR!
November 6, 2015
A couple of weeks after moving into my new apartment in Burbank, CA I noticed water spots building up everywhere and my hair started getting alarmingly dry and brittle....classic signs of hard water. Did a lot of research and this seemed to get really good reviews. I was so hopeful! Of course only after trying it out and finding absolutely NO CHANGE in my hair or shower build-up did I find those 1 and 2 star reviews from other people who had a similar experience to me.Pros: installs easily, nice flow, rubber head that is easier to clean, presumably it filters out chlorine if that is your issue.Cons: taking the head apart to install the filter was a work-out, the selector dial is impossible to turn while water is flowing, does nothing to filter out the hard water minerals which cause hair damage and stains.Bottom line: the only thing that will help with hard water is a water softening system. I like the flow of this shower head and it's cheap, so I'll keep it.
easy install, lacks width on the stream of water coming from the head.
September 9, 2015
Although easy to install and easy to get up and running quickly the reason for 2 stars is that the water pressure is actually a bit less than my old shower head (just a generic with no multi setting streams) and the biggest gripe is the spray when on the most small stream (setting where the outter rim is on) to get best pressure is in place the focus of the water stream is very narrow. I'm used to the water getting more of a < shape when spraying outward and instead it's more of a = shape.I used for a week and have already taken this head off and purchased an in line water filter instead. This purchase was completed not only out of convenience of a same day delivery and high ratings but because it is a company that has a local presence.

Plastic, "adjustable" connectors don't fit
October 8, 2017
Several years ago, I purchased the Culligan faucet filter and loved it. After a couple of moves, I needed a filter again and remembered the great experience in the past so purchased the Culligan again. It is not great anymore. To begin with, the two "adjustable" faucet connectors are a challenge to fit into the filter. The filter itself is silver-colored plastic; in the photo, it looks like metal-- it isn't; it is a lightweight plastic painted or dyed silver. So, it is difficult to connect to the faucet and it looks cheap. I do not know how long the filter will last; years ago, they lasted 60-90 days, hopefully that is still true.
Stopped working after a few days
April 17, 2017
This filter worked great for the first few days and then our water started to taste the same as it had without the filter. We used it for maybe 20 glasses of water and 2 pots of pasta during that time, nothing I would call heavy use. We ordered a replacement filter to see if it was just a fluke and the new one lasted the same amount of time. I did like the automatic switch from filtered to unfiltered water when turning the faucet off, but the performance of the filter itself was very disappointing. I would not recommend the Culligan filter to anyone - try something else. We have been using our Brita filter for 2 weeks now and it still works as well as the day we installed it.
Filter too small, does not last long
July 25, 2016
After replacing Pur and Brita faucet filters numerous times because plastic parts wear rapidly and break, I tried This Culligan FM-25. At first I thought it was great, and I loved how well the metal diverter works, as well as how great the water tastes. However, claims as to the volume of water purified are vastly overstated. Only two adults and a small Yorkie live in my house, and we filter ONLY the water we drink. The filter is too small, and after only two weeks of use, it slowed to a maddening snail's pace, and needed to be replaced. I'm using replacements twice as fast as planned, and therefore the cost is twice as high. Apparently there is no really good faucet filter in existence. Disappointing. I may be forced to just give up on filtering my drinking water altogether.
It's a good filter while it lasts
July 2, 2015
It's a good filter while it lasts. The problem is that it's built not to last. After a few months, the connection between the plastic and the metal part becomes loose and water starts leaking. I took the filter apart to see if it could be tightened somehow but no regular screwdriver or hex worked.I called customer service and the rep told me that it can't be fixed and needs to be replaced. Looking at the design of it, it would be easy to tighten it if instead of a round fitting, it had a hex fitting.Just keep in mind that you will need to buy a new housing soon after it starts leaking around mid-way through the lifetime of the first replacement filter.
It's not a big deal as it is easy to manually push or pull the tab on or ...
August 7, 2014
I can only give this filtering system a two star rating as it has two distinct problems: 1) the automatic shut off valve stopped working after 3 months of use. It's not a big deal as it is easy to manually push or pull the tab on or off when you want to filter water, but it is emblematic of a poor design. 2) The plastic casing at the top of the filter unit began to have hariline cracks after about a year of usage. At 18 months the cracks got worse and water began squirting out of the top of the filter through the cracks. Obviously, over time, the water pressure inside the filter puts too much pressure on the plastic casing and the casing eventually fails. I called Culligan's technical support help desk and the person I talked to said the FM-25's plastic casing typically fails between 18-24 months depending on the amount of water pressure in a user's home. I find it very troubling that a company would design a product that will only last 18-24 months. Our house does not have above average water pressure,
I've been had
January 30, 2012
I had a Pur water filter, and I was happy with it except that it cost a lot for the replacement filters.I read the great reviews of the Culligan and bought one 10 months ago. After about six months the mechanism that switches it between tap and filter started leaking.I took it off and replaced the rubber gasket, but the leaking continued, because the mechanism itself was leaking. Now the leaking has become a spray that means i have to drape a cloth over the filter so it does not go all over the counter.I did a subscribe and save to get a new filter every month, typically I need one every three weeks, and I am just one person, after a few weeks it becomes a drip and water barely comes through at all.It gets so slow that I can leave the house and go shopping and come back and a water jug is about 3/4 full.On the upside I like the taste of the water, but not being a chemist like most of the other reviewers, I can't tell you what it is actually taking out of the water. I really don't know how other reviewers can say that the Culligan filtered out more impurities. How are they testing the water? That's bogus! But I can say that the filter lasted MUCH less time than the Pur, that's a stone cold fact. Now that the price of the Culligan has gone up, I realize that I've been had, so I guess I'll go back to the other one with my tail between my legs.

Heavy, clunky, whines, and sprays water from only one side
October 27, 2017
CONS:1. Emits a high-pitched whining noise with or without the flow restrictor. This sound is so annoying.2. One side of the shower head had water coming out; the other was somehow plugged. My old Water Massage didn't have this problem.3. NO instructions. There are a couple of really small photos and that's it. You're on your own as it comes in six pieces.4. The stickers were melted onto the filter so I suspect this particular unit was very old and kept in a very hot place.5. The handheld unit is very awkward. In order to remove it safely (without clunking it on your head) you'll need to stand on tiptoe and lift it directly up. Didn't have that issue with my old Water Massage.6. The water coming out didn't feel any softer or smell any better. Maybe an old filter??PROS:1. None. Mine was ill-fitting and had water flow on only one side. Possible defective, but it's made so poorly I can't justify trying a second one. This is going back.
Filter makes the showerhead too heavy
September 18, 2017
Filter works well but its so heavy the showerhead is always pointed down which is not how I like to shower in my tiny stall. It forces me to stand near the wall where my shower caddy is so end up hitting my arms on it. The ball joint on the holder is too loose to hold it upright so I can't get a back massage. The curved handle makes that even worse with the water going in the opposite direction I'm standing and is not ergonomical. As someone with carpal tunnel and arthritis this is not helpful. The water pressure is good in fact you'll get pelted if you put it on the jet setting, it does not feel good and I need it for my back.I've ordered a regular handheld showerhead and a filter that'll go on the shower pipe instead.
the showerhead looked great and had great shower settings
May 16, 2017
I ordered this in the fall and although I didn't notice any major difference in water quality, the showerhead looked great and had great shower settings. However, about a month ago this stopped working completely - it would make a really loud screeching noise the whole time the shower was on, even though I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it. The last straw was when water started squirting every which way - now I am back to the free showerhead that was in my apartment when I moved in, but I am pretty disappointed and unimpressed that this didn't even last a full 6 months.
I do use it just to make myself think its really working :)

Tested the water and it was the same as before. Save your money
It's a total waste of money
August 2, 2016
Ordered this because of high reviews...let me tell you that this thing anit filtering sh*t. I recently purchased a zero water filter and it comes with a TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) tester. The water coming out of the shower head was higher (TDS number, higher # = Bad) versus just the normal tap water. Granted it might have been due to it being hot water, but F this thing. It's a total waste of money.
Faulty Mounting Bracket
May 16, 2016
It is only been couple of month since I fitted this shower and the mounting bracket no more will stand upright. Although quality of water does seem to have improved the faulty mounting bracket reduces the usability to a very large extend.

Not a very good product
April 28, 2017
Not usually a poster, but this product was bad enough to merit it. The filter's performance was good for a very short while, then the water quality dropped fast. I liked the faucet mount, hated the cartridge replacement hassle. I'm going back to the old Brita faucet mount I used successfully for 10 years -- though the Brita handle was hard to turn, the water filtration was consistent and cartridge replacement was easy.
Terrible design, impossible to change filter
December 10, 2016
This is the worst design ever. It looks really cool and works well until you have to change the filter or remove it from your sink. We cannot get the filter cartridge out. It's as if it's glued. (Not to mention that the directions on the replacement cartridge say to turn it counter-clockwise to remove, but the instructional video on Culligan's website says to turn it clockwise...WHAT?!). So then we decided just to remove it from the sink and throw it away, and the attaching ring won't come off. We are going to use a wrench because there is no other way to get it off. HORRIBLE. Don't waste your money.
Wasted money
October 5, 2016
Very disappointed. Connected to my kitchen faucet without adaptors. Water comes out of regular part ok, but less pressure. When I pull the diverter valve out, it will not stay out and literally a pencil lead thick stream of water comes out. I have to hold it out to even get that. Seriously cannot hold it that long to fill a glass of water! I ordered this and a spare filter. Now I have wasted all that money because I live outside the USA and shipping cost for return is prohibitive.
Bought this one since the overall review looks good, average four stars with over 1000 reviews
June 12, 2016
Bought this one since the overall review looks good, average four stars with over 1000 reviews. It is super easy to install, let water run through the filter for 10 min at low pressure. However, did not notice any taste difference. Tested using a water quality TDS tester, the scores were the same before or after the filter. It was not filtering anything.
stuck!
May 29, 2013
This worked really well...Until the cartridges got STUCK. The first time it happened, I managed to get it out after an hour of struggling. When I replaced it, I learned my lesson and didn't tighten the next one as much. DIDN'T HELP. The second one got stuck EVEN WORSE, and it never came out. I couldn't get it out. My husband couldn't get it out. Wrenches didn't help. Belts didn't help. Nothing. We even accepted the loss of this product at a point and just became hell-bent on removing the cartridge, damage be damned. Even when we practically DESTROYED this thing, we couldn't get it out. Vacuum release valve, please. The adapters also kinda sucked, but it might just be my sink- it's pretty old.
Will not install on many faucets (read other reviews too)
January 18, 2012
I wish I had read some of the 1 star reviews too. This might be a great product IF it could be installed. My faucet is a regular type which can switch between 1 large stream vs many small sprays. This makes it slightly wider than the bare-bones "pipe like" faucet ends. However, despite being only slightly wide at the watering end, this filter will not fit on my faucet - the filter housing conflicts with the faucet neck. I went to home depot and Aces hardware - nobody carried any adaptors that would help my situation. Culligan, please keep more horizontal distance between the faucet attaching site and the filter housing to accomodate wider faucets. So in summary, it looks like a great filter in theory but it won't fit. I'm returning it in under 2 hours.
