worked realy well!
July 11, 2017
used it for emergency heat in kitchen as the main heater died. Ended up using it all winter. works really well. quiet even heat. Had it plugged into a power meter to see how much electricity and $$$ it used. Cost came to $125 bucks or so for use from Sept-March as primerly heat in a small kitchen. Not bad for New England weather!. if it could be mounted and not in the way I''d keep it over the regualr heat in the room!

This is amazing. My S.O. got one for his art studio, which doesn't have heat. It's a huge room and it kept it at a perfect, nice even temp. So I got one for my studio, which is much smaller, but this keeps it at a perfect temp as well. We're so happy with them that my mom bought one for her quilting studio and one for my dad's room on the ranch.
Very efficient electric heater
January 20, 2017
This is a very effective heater. We're using it in a cold bedroom (of a very old house) that is heated only by convection floor vents from the first floor. The legal warnings in the instruction manual made me almost afraid to use it, but I positioned it against a wall with no problem. The thermostat works well. The only problem I've encountered is that it makes a slight popping sound (due, I suppose, to differential expansion of the metal casing) every 20 seconds or so, which can be quite loud in the night stillness, and so my wife requested that I move it further from the bed.
recommend it to everyone

I am extremely impressed with this product. The noise level only came on once when I first turned it on. It never happened anymore. keeps the whole bedroom warm. recommend it to everyone.

I picked up this heater to use for our bedroom, it works very well, it does make some pinging sounds as its heating up but nothing that would cause alarm. I use it on energy save mode, we have an older unit and it has two modes, low heat and high, this one on energy save mode seems to be low heat, on high heat it puts out some serious heat. Some have claimed the one they had smelled, ours had a slight smell when it first arrived but after a week or so of use it was gone.I would recommend this unit if you have a medium size room you need some additional heat in, it has a digital read out and you can set the temp just like your house thermostat. Good product I have enjoyed it,

Great little heater for my apartment bathroom
January 22, 2017
The ideal size for my small bathroom. I've been an exclusive user of oil-filled heaters for the past 15 years. They're economical and efficient. Once they are warmed up, the air around them is extremely comfortable. This is the smallest one I'd ever seen and had to try it. It works great and can even overheat the bathroom if the user doesn't understand how this type of heater works. The settings allows it to adjust the temperature perfectly. It takes up barely any space, as it's so thin, which is exactly what I needed.
Good Product but Waaay Overpriced
November 18, 2016
Very neat little heater for small areas, I put this one by my dog's sleeping area and he's very thankful I did. It is, however, very overpriced for what it is.
Silent
November 16, 2016
Just switched to this after purchasing several ceramic fan heaters in a row, each of which lasted about 6 months. Not sure about the durability of this product yet, but amazed by the difference in noise level. This is absolutely silent, it fits under my desk and works great.
Nice compact quiet heater.
October 25, 2016
Heats up, and keeps warm a 10x10 room nicely. Compact and light weight also. Got another. One for the cat room also, which is a slightly bigger room, and doesn't seem to have problems keeping it at about 68degrees.
The Perfect 'Under Desk' Heater
September 6, 2016
This is the perfect 'under desk' heater! It gives out even heat unlike the fan ones. It also has no smell! I wish I bought this years ago. It is slim, silent, and just perfect. I was always cold in the office, especially during the summer when the A/C was on full blast. Now I am nice and comfy, not too warm and not too cold, but juuuuust right.
Works great!
January 7, 2016
Use this at the office in New Hampshire. Keeps the chill off that comes in through the poorly insulated windows behind me. I have it sitting on a large bay-window shelf and it sends warm air out so my back, neck and shoulders stay warm. There is no fan or blower, this is radiant heat from the heated oil inside the unit. It makes no noise. It is a thin unit, only a 1.5 inches thick.NOTE: There is a caution notice on the unit: "High Temperature; keep electrical cords, drapery and other furnishings at least 3 feet from the front of the heater and way from the side and rear."

Everyone should have one for electric heaters!
February 16, 2017
As an ex-firefighter, I can attest to how often electric space heaters cause house fires. That very experience occurred to me last week when in the middle of the night I jumped out of bed in full on alarm mode. I smelled burning plastic.Turns out, the girlfriend had tossed her shirt across the room and it landed on top of our electric fan heater. Later in the night, when the heater cycled on it restricted the air flow from the heater which caused the heater to overheat. (not to mention the smell of ironed clothes) When I woke up with alarm bells in my head, the first thing I checked was the heater and when I saw the shirt I thought "ok, thats all it is".. but clothes don't normally smell like burning plastic, so I kept looking around and sure enough, the wall outlet the heater was plugged into was in full on meltdown. This was a bit sobering - we're used to putting out fires started by electric heaters and you never expect it to happen to yourself.I ordered three of these units that same day. After repairing the outlet, I just plugged this in over it. It looks great - the green light is kind of reassuring but for the bedroom, I wish it was dimmer.Regardless I'm happy to know if I'm not home and my girlfriend decides to play peek-a-boo with the heater again, this unit will kill the power before it melts down the house. Also, she now has a fire extinguisher on her side of the bed.
Well made and functional

These are great alternatives to traditional space heaters

These are great alternatives to traditional space heaters. We use them in our children's rooms during cold winters. While they get warm to touch, they definitely are not a safety hazard. They hear rooms quickly and consistently.
Good product for small & isolated rooms
January 23, 2017
This is a good product! Ufortunately as our apartment is not isolated, as the windows were not built for a cold a windy weather, I'm still using the heater on cold nights/days and that leaves us with dried air :/
Still works after 2 years!
November 22, 2016
Still works after 2 years! First, i must say it heats the room really well. I use it in both my bedroom, and my family room. The temperature control works well as long as I don't use the ECO function. When using the ECO mode it usually heats up, cycles off and never comes back on for some reason. Next problem is the metal clicking. When it is on LOW mode it hardly makes any clicking. When it is on medium or high it clicks a lot as it cools and reheats quickly. Maybe this would not be the case in a larger space where it is cycling on more often without having the chance to cool so much. When it clicks I switch it to low, and then it goes away. Since low is more than adequate for a bedroom, that's what i leave it on, and I have no problems. The "chimney effect" design does seem to work as you can feel the air rising above it, but it is nothing drastic (but i mainly use on low, the effect may be more pronounced on high). All the additional chimney metalwork has got to be the source of the clicking. I would recommend this heater for the temperature control feature (would be nice if the eco worked better), but not so much because of the chimney part. I have seen complaints of smell, but I have had none. When I unpacked it there was some Styrofoam stuck in between some of the fins from the box, so it is a good idea to check for this. Likely the cause.

Arrived on time and in good condition. I ran it in my shop for ~ 24 hours until the 'new' smell went away then moved it to the 400-ish sq ft cottage. It's only been used a few times but I am very happy with it.

January 24, 2016
Have only had a few days and so far works great. As advertised, this unit is silent except for the occasional expansion sounds inherent in any radiant heating device. Seems well made and does a great job heating my living room or bedroom at night. Controls are simple and intuitive to use. I may give it another star if it still works a few years down the road so it is too early to give it that 5th star.

January 16, 2016
Other reviewers have complained about the PING sounds that this heater makes when cooling off. I've observed that it makes plenty of those sounds after using it at the maximum power, but almost none when used at the medium power setting. I have it on medium and it's managed to heat up my 14x18 room quite nicely. Takes about an hour for it to reach equilibrium on the medium setting, but I don't mind. Also true to the other reviews, this heater does not have any dangerously hot exposed regions, despite heating plenty of air. You can ignore the manufacturer's warnings and stand right over it, if you like. (Note that you'll probably need to be six feet tall to accomplish this.) :D

This small unit does a great job in the small room
March 5, 2017
We use this heater to keep our RV bedroom warm on winter nights. This small unit does a great job in the small room. The feet are plastic and loosen up a little after use, causing the unit to wobble a bit (making a slight clicking noise) with RV movement. We wedge something under one foot to eliminate the wobble.
Works great in my small bathroom
February 20, 2017
This heater was perfect for one of my small bathrooms that gets a little cold in the winter. It's thin and easy to fit into the small bathroom and yet be out of the way. Being a radiant oil filled heater it takes a good while to heat up, but my intent was to raise the temperature throughout the day so it stays on and keeps the room comfortable.

Warms up a small/medium room well. Caution use this around adult only gets very hot to the touch. Makes cracking noise for the first 10 minutes and vice versa. Silent when on for a longer period. I recommend getting a timer for the time you need it on/off. Room stays warm even hours of being turned off.
... a heater that wasn't 1500 watt that would work good in my green house in the basement
December 21, 2015
Was looking for a heater that wasn't 1500 watt that would work good in my green house in the basement. Keeps a decent temperature in the green house (65 degrees on average). Basement has been around 50-55 degrees. We will see how long it lasts. My concern is that the plastics (feet and control panel) seem a bit flimsy. I guess as long as I don't kick it or tip it I will not break it. Of this is in a high traffic area I would be concerned.
So far so good
November 2, 2015
I purchased this to provide some warmth for my feet and legs when I'm sitting at my desk in the winter. My desk is in the middle of the room, and I have the heater sitting a couple of inches from the back of my desk. Does take the chill out of the air - it seems to help more when I turn it on about an hour before I start working. The unit itself gets very hot, but the desk itself doesn't absorb the heat - which I think is good. It definitely helps to provide some warmth - will be playing with placement as the weather gets even colder. I love the size and portability of the heater, and am glad to have some added heat without hot air blowing in the room and in my face, as I have had in the past.
Radiant Salesman
February 6, 2015
This year one of the office salesmen brought in a 1500 watt heater and put it under his desk claiming his legs and feet are cold. I looked at his idea of a solution and all I saw was a ball warmer. I picked this up and replaced it under his desk before he came to work. He has been using it nonstop and there are no complaints. At least now he is warming his legs and feet.

Works well an the indicator works as a little light too
How to verify it actually works?
May 16, 2017
This is a tricky one. I mean, it works, there's a green light to indicate that the temperature is ok so I'm guessing this means the device is "doing what's is supposed to" but who knows if it really does what it says it does? there isn't even a sort of a test button like in smoke detectors that will tell you the circuits are working (sorry for the non technical terms here, I'm not an electrician...). So, assuming the device works as advertised, I would say this is a good product. The build quality looks good and the price is ok (this is a 2 pack). I use it with a room heater in the basement so was ok to spend a little more and know that I'm reducing the chance of fire or electrical issues in the basement where sometimes the heater is left unattended, and I hope I will never have to see this device at work.
Okay
March 14, 2017
Seems to work okay but the light inside is larger and more diffuse than I had expected. Makes it look cheaply made.
Very nice, but I got a used
February 3, 2017
got this with electric stove heater because of fire risks with all space heaters. Very nice, but I got a used, (not really, but someone bought it and never took it out of plastic package, which is hard to cut into. the price was half of the brand new one. I paid about $12, but full price would have been a lot for this switch. My husband said we really didn't need this safety plug, but better safe than sorry. We can use it with some other electric heater and electronics where the plugs can get hot as well.
Great other than the light
January 14, 2017
I read the prior reviews about the bright indicator light and purchased it thinking I could put a piece of electrical tape over it and have no issues. The plastic case is thin and the internal light is so bright that even with electrical tape over the front the whole thing glows green like a night light which is pretty annoying when you're trying to keep your room dark. Outside of that it works as advertised.

It appears to work well but arrived in a box that had clearly been opened and arrived with dents. Disappointed. I’m not returning it because it works and the hassle isn’t worth it. I’d have been very pleased to have purchased it at a “scratch and dent” price, but not full price.

I had a Kenwood like this and thought this would be the same but it doesn't heat up quite as well. Controls are little more complicated than the Kenwood but okay for occasional use.
Why wont it stay turned on?
February 5, 2017
I would give this heater a 5star rating except it keeps turning off. The instructions do nto say why or how to keep it "on" at a low temp until I turn it off. So, I have it in my studio, put it there a day before I was going to work, and when I came the next day the place was stone cold, and heater off. I have used the 24 hour timer, but what a drag, to have to reset that every day?? Does anyone have a fix or explanation of this situation?

It works great. Main problem is that if the power flickers or goes off even for a moment, the unit turns off and does not come back on like the manual one I purchased on Amazon. I would switch this one out for the non-digital if I had the choice. If you are not home this could be a problem.

Good unit but it is used
December 12, 2016
I received a used unit. The box was damaged during shipment and when opened I see that it wasn't in a plastic bag or a cord bag like the one I purchased last year from another retailer. It works but there is a scratch on the front of it and I'm not happy about paying full price for a used item. Also, the unit last year had a burning door for the first month of use. It was the chemicals outgassing. This unit has no odor which is also evidence that then unit was used before. Please help amazon. I called DeLonghi and they agreed it was used and recommended returning it for a new one.

This works fine and I love it's size and compactness
April 4, 2016
This works fine and I love it's size and compactness. However, as other reviewers mentioned. This doesn't get smokin' hot. I keep it in my bedroom which is about 10x10 feet and it stays warm--but doesn't get super toasty with the door closed when it's really cold out. I have also used it under my desk which works well--keep feet warm. I wish someone made one slightly bigger and a bit warmer. It's also handy to dry things on--quickly--but wouldn't leave fabric on it unsupervised. It's hot to the touch.
Faulty had to return. (would of liked a simple exchange)
December 5, 2015
The space heater i recived was faulty .The caution light did not work, also something was lose in the electrics . It was not new, had finger prints all over it, plus you could tell that it had been opened and used before.I would of liked a simple exchange for one that was not faulty, but was not given that option. if i had If small children i would not buy this heater, i feel it could burn a small child. I was ok trying this heater on hardwood floors, but not sure how safe it would be on carpet. shame it was faulty, i would of liked to have kept it.
Cheap to run, but very limited utility
January 7, 2015
It's disappointing (and not only because it took Amazon three months to ship the unit), but it is still worth considering if you have a very specific need. It's only 400 watts, but that would be enough power to heat a small space if a reasonable amount of iron-rich metal were used in the body to retain and radiate heat. Instead, the body is constructed with paper-thin pot-metal panels. There's small amount of oil inside the unit that helps, but all told the thermal properties are poor. You can expect to heat about three cubic feet, and not much more. All that said, no one has produced a high-quality, cast-iron, low-wattage electric heater since the French stopped making them in 1960s, so you do not have much choice. Leaving a 1600-watt space heater on indefinitely will cost you at least $175 a month in electricity. This will cost you more like $45 -- like using ten 40-watt incandescent bulbs. It will gently heat the space under your desk. It can also warm a small bathroom, provided it is insulated and you leave the heater on continuously.
Becareful ...
January 7, 2012
I bought this heater over a year ago for under my desk. It did a great job, but the little feet shattered after a couple of months. I ordered 2 more sets. This fall I started using it again. The feet shattered again, I should have taken note. But I really like this heater. Keeps my legs toasty in this old drafty house while I work. Two days ago, I noticed the housing for the electronics was open and I could see all the wiring. Under the heater was a bunch on pieces of plastic. The casing for the bolts holding the shell together had shattered. The heater was very hot and I just was lucky to have noticed. I keep this heater on a timer, so it is only on while I am working. I was almost tempted to get another one, but decided that the fire risk was too high. What if I had not noticed the open shell? I wonder how others are holding up?
GOOD
November 28, 2011
I was hoping this heater would work for under a desk in our garage and we are in the mtns. It doesn't but inside the house under my desk it works fantastic. I just put it in my bathroom 12 x 15'ish since we don't have a heater in there and on the med setting it works great and was surprised. Very much a worth while purchase.
Nice and quiet, with caveats
December 31, 2010
We use these under our desks and they do a good job of warming without any noise. These units do get hot (about 250°F) so you need enough room that your toes won't touch the heater accidentally--ouch! The switch is fairly easy to operate with your toe and glows orange when it's on. But it's all too easy to forget to turn the heater off so it wastes energy. If they were smart, the heater would have a motion detector so it would turn off when you leave the desk. Only other complaint is the legs are too narrow so the heater is less stable than it should be. Still it does the job and it's nicer than a radiant heater with a fan for localized heating.Update 11/12:One of the plastic feet cracked in half. Fortunately, I contacted NewAir and they sent me to a web site where I could buy a replacement for $3.95. Still think the feet should be longer for greater stability, and more durable, but at least customer service was good.

Leaking oil after 1+ year of use
January 7, 2017
It makes good heat but this was purchased in October 2015 and now only a little over a year later and it's leaking oil out of the bottom. For such an expensive heater it shouldn't be leaking after so little time.

Very loud ticking
December 5, 2016
Ever put bad gas in your car and when you turn it off there is somewhat loud ticking?I have a Honeywell oil space heater. It does not make any noise. This unit is so loud that we haven't been sleeping well the past 2 nights. The unit is in my bathroom. With the door closed it's still too loud.Giving it one more night. Hoping there is a break in period. But, there is no luxery in a loud ticking - metal thumping - pinging as much as 20 times in a minute. The unit is sleek and maybe the nicest looking and most expensive. I don't like returning products and I'm not sure why other reviews don't mention this as a major deal breaker?

Um, don't bother with this one.
October 6, 2017
Unless you're sitting a foot away from this thing, in which case you'll probably knock it over, don't spend the money on this heater. It gets hot, but the heat doesn't go anywhere. I've been trying low-watt heaters because my apartment is freezing and it's all too easy to trip the breakers, which I don't have access to reset. So this one's a dud, but I'll keep it because I can put it on medium and hang my clothes over it for 1/2 hour before dressing so I have toasty clothes to put on. A bit expensive for that purpose, but sending it back is too much trouble.
Good for a few months of runtime.

Lasted 1 calendar year with no use from April through October. Thought it was a great little heater for that year but now it has leaked it's contents (oil) on to the rug. So I'm out $58 on this heater, ruined a rug, and possibly a pair of pants. Disappointing in the long run.

June 24, 2015
Worked great for three years and six months, then...design FAIL! The control panel split open while operating but sitting completely still. The unit is essentially two halves joined with plastic fittings held together with screws in the top right corner where the lifting ring is. Well, the plastic is very cheap and can't take the heat! This could be a safety hazard. Hopefully NewAir will address this in a future model, but STAY AWAY for safety/product quality reasons. I contacted NewAir by Facebook, but my post was not...posted.

January 8, 2017
Small appliances (microwave, space heater) continue to short out the old fuse box despite this device's claims of preventing that. I'd return it but already tossed the packing material. The green on light, which didn't go to red when a heater blew a house fuse, is pretty. NOT RECOMMENDED.
Fine if you also want a very bright nite-light.
December 27, 2016
I bought this to provide some peace of mind because we have an infrared radiant heater in my daughter's room and I wanted some insurance against the cord/outlet overheating. It seems to work just fine. The 2-star review is because the whole thing glows green. I like bedrooms to be dark (Hey! No ugly wife jokes!) This thing illuminates the entire room with a bright green glow that you can't turn off. I have the same issue with any product that has lights or bright displays that remain on. It seems like a very poor design to me.

Not good enough for larger spaces.
January 30, 2017
I thought this was the" top of the line" model and could handle a larger room. Really not too efficient in a space that's approximately 400+ sq. ft.Takes a long time to heat up a room when temp outside is in the 40's. I only run at the highest settings, so I've already noticed a "spike" in my electric bill. Also, oil smell took about a week to go away. Conclusion: for my space I'd need at least 2 of these running at highest settings, so my monthly electric bill would probably be about $500!

Disappointed in this heater
January 12, 2017
Although many customers give this 4 or 5 stars, I can only give this heater 1 star and that is because this unit is very stable and did not collapse when my dog hit it while chasing the cat. For some reason, my unit did not even heat up a small bathroom when the controls were set to maximum heat and maximum fan. Even after a week of use, it gave off a burning oil smell and emitted a high pitch buzzing noise. I contacted the DeLonghi customer support center where they were very friendly and helpful suggesting that I contact Amazon. I did and thank you Amazon for the quick return of my funds.I still need a heater, but am not considering another DeLonghi product.

Plug burned me still

They don't work. I had purchased a few of these for small space heaters. After letting the heater run for about 10 minutes I decided to move it across the room. The plug on these get so hot one actually left burn marks on me when I was testing them.

Bought it to use in our motor home with infrared heater. The thing melted/burned up, 3 months later. We have a serge protector on the whole rig...scary... customer service simply said, oh well, it's past Amazon's 30 day return policy...
