Am using one under the sink cabinet so the pipes don't freeze. It's been several years and have no complaints. Low quiet heat. Buying another for my dad for chilly feet around the desk.

Love it so much that we had to re-order for four other people! Very space friendly. Small but works perfectly for small space/ cubicles.
Great little desktop heater!
August 22, 2017
I needed a small heater to take the cool edge off in my office. This little Vornado does the job perfectly! It's quiet, puts off just enough heat and has added safety in the tilt switch that automatically turns off the heater. Love it! It's my third Vornado and I continue to be a "fan".

I loved it.i received it on March 9, about a week ship it started to sound like a turbine winding up. I assume the blades are hitting something (in May).
Unfortunately,. I don't think something that works an out 1 1/2 months was a good buy. It wasn't even cold out. BUY something else. I am looking for a replacement now. It was 5 star while it worked

Great Heater for small space
December 2, 2016
I love this heater! I purchased it a year ago and it still works perfectly. I wanted a heater that would ft under my desk in the office because it's always freezing. It's extremely quiet and even works as a fan and shuts off automatically if knocked over. I can feel the heat on my feet even if I'm wearing UGG Boots. People come to my desk, and don't want to leave because they say it feels so good. Don't know how good it works in a large area, but it's perfect for a small space. I definitely recommend.

great heater I am about to turn it off as I write this because my feet are sweaty! my room is poorly insulated and the winter gets pretty cold about 30 degrees. works very well. I actually had bought the 140 dollar model about a year ago when the heater in our apartment went out. it heated the kitchen and the living room. so I figured why not buy it again. the only difference between this one and the 140 dollar one is that it the touch screen the remote and the thermometer. also the more expensive model stops at the temperature you set it at but I don't mind getting up. the power is the same though.
Keeps you warm!
January 16, 2015
Lots of warmth and very little noise. I hate to call the sound it makes noise as it's extremely quiet. We are under construction, and wood and plastic separates the livable space from the unlivable--still no insulation--space. This heater puts out a lot of heat and keeps us warm. In fact, it puts out so much heat I had to keep moving it until I found that perfect spot because the thermostat for the HVAC read the room as too warm and wouldn't turn on--the rest of the downstairs was chilly. I have a second one that I keep in the garage with the cats--they came with the house and are not feral but neither are they domestic. Does a great job and bonus is no worries about frozen pipes! This is a great product--love the auto shut-off. Wouldn't buy a heater without it.Update: I should have updated this review to warn buyers--- be careful with usage as it will put a huge dent in your electric bill. We had no idea until out bill came in after a cold month--double our usual amount. We ended up with huge electric bills for a couple of months--no choice unless we wanted to move to hotel--not feasible given all of our pets. Keep this in mind if you need to use it a lot. Not going to take off of rating as I can't fault heater--it takes a lot of power to run; I just didn't realize how much as we usually use it sparingly. Lucky, spring 2016 our house was back to normal:)
The best heater I've used, nearly perfect. Technical review.
January 10, 2015
This heater is the best one I've found, and I've tried *many* types of heaters. It puts out a warm to hot stream of soft air that works great for heating a room. It has a power switch, wattage switch for different output levels, and a thermostat to set the point at which it turns on and off. It also has a safety tip-over switch as heaters are required to have nowadays. The heater works very well, and is the quietest forced-air heater I've come across. Even the thermostat is quiet as it clicks on and off, can barely hear it as opposed to the loud click of most heaters. For forced air heaters you generally have two types, wire element and ceramic element (There is also infrared with fan but I'm not considering that here). They are both electric, but have different element watt-area densities. You can concentrate 1500w in a very small space with a small element producing a hot puff of air, or you can spread the 1500w over a larger surface and get more voluminous comfortable air. A ceramic element is small, concentrating 1500w in a very small area, producing a small poof of extremely hot air, which I don't like because the air doesn't get far. In contrast this is the wire-element style which heats a larger volume of air not as hot, but still plenty hot. I prefer the wire-element kind as this one is, because you can warm yourself up in front of it. It also heats a room more evenly as air is more distributed. Some things you should be aware of. Firstly when you turn on the heater for the first time there will be some motor bearing noise as the bearings are worked in for the first time. I've used 3 of these and it will go away in a few minutes during the first run and doesn't come back. Second my unit has some thermostat bounce, in that it clicks on and then off, then a few seconds later clicks on until the set point is reached. Many heaters I've used do this, which is a property of the bimetallic strip thermostats manufacturers use. This could be alleviated with a different model thermostat, but the ones that don't bounce have loud clicks.Have an electrician make sure your electrical situation is safe. They can make sure outlets and wire connections to them are in good shape, as a bad outlet and/or connection to it can create a hazardous situation. In many cases this is not noticed until a high amp draw appliance like a heater is plugged in and used, which stresses weak electrical connections. Should you feel your outlet, plug, or cover plate getting hot call an electrician and have them take a look at the outlet, and the other ones in the circuit. Since outlets are daisy-chained, a bad connection could exist in an outlet upstream as well. I caught several of these in my house, where the neutral line had gotten so hot it blackened, due to a "backstab" connection to the outlet. "Backstab" and "Backwire" connections are different and your electrician will know the difference.
Must have heater.

Only the best space heater I have every owned. This is an excellent product heats large 855 square ft with vaulted sealings within a few hours to a almost a too warm temperature. Have to turn it down which is possible with all the options. Heats evenly from top to bottom. Wish I had found this last year.

Bought the grey one from third party vendor, Casa.com. Amazon only had black at the time. The vendor is located in NJ, and I received my package in two days. Fantastic shipping speed. The Vornado MVH is everything that people say it is -- it warms up the room differently than an oil radiator or ceramic type heater. It is much more gentle and comfortable, but at the same time, it takes longer -- although not as long as a radiator. I have used both oil and ceramic type heaters before. With those, you'll feel a lot of heat when you are close to the heater, but the heat drops off very quickly as you move away. You are either too hot or too cold -- more so with ceramic than oil. With the Vornado, you'll feel very little heat even when standing next to it. In fact, some may say that the heater is blowing cold air. Believe it. This is how it supposes to work. It circulates a lot more air through its heating element than the other types of heaters. That's why you don't feel the heat. At the same time, the room temperature rises gradually and stays there. You don't feel the drastic temperature variation when moving around within the room.I use this heater in my home office, which is a small room of roughly 15'x15'. We haven't had a really cold day this fall yet, but I have got a chance to use it once. For my room size, I use the 750w (lowest) setting and keep the thermostat half way (12 o'clock). It reaches a comfortable temperature in 15 minutes, with the door closed. If the door is not closed, this cannot be achieved. The fan noise is not too bad -- no worse than any fan of comparable size, and definitely quieter than my ceramic heater. Can't speak to the longevity of the product yet, as this is my first season owning this product.
I actually bought the thing.
October 16, 2014
Since most if not all the reviews for this product received it free, through the Vine Voice program, I thought I would add my review, since I actually paid for the thing.I bought this heater because our old one bit the dust. My son likes to have a little warm air in the mornings when he eats his breakfast before school (we keep our house cool at night during the winter, and it takes time to warm up.) I've been using it as a room heater during cold snaps this fall, instead of cranking up the furnace. Right now it is in my office, and I am quite comfortable. It has an internal sort of thermostat, so if you set it lower than full blast, it will cycle on and off, keeping the room as warm as you like. It's a nice size, light, and sharp looking. There's no way anyone could hurt themselves with it without a long metal implement and a bit of a death wish. The unit stays cool when operating and it has an ingenious button on the bottom which, if not in contact with the floor or the surface of something, will stop the unit from operating. In other words, if it tips over, it turns off.I like it a lot. It keeps our tv room nice and cozy and we don't have to heat all the bedrooms and kitchen and office.

Nice little heater conked out after 2 years and is being replaced for free by company
June 29, 2017
I bought this little heater 2 years ago and have used it frequently in my office. It does the job nicely. It doesn't heat the room up super-quickly, but it does heat it up, and it does so quietly. Last week, though, it simply stopped working. I contacted the company because I saw in the manual that there was a 5-year warranty. They were very nice about it. They told me to send them a photo of the unit with the power cord cut off, and showing the plate with the serial number, and have said that they will send me a new unit in the next few days for free.
the small size is great and for a small room it is very effective
October 19, 2016
We bought this small heater about 2 years ago. It works perfectly for our bathroom, the small size is great and for a small room it is very effective. We stored it for summer and when fall weather cooled a bit we discovered that it did not work at all. No light, no sound...nuthin'.
I inquired about the warranty and was promptly advised that Vornado would send us a replacement within the week at no charge.
We live near the coast so the ocean air is hard on all electronics. I suspect some internal corrosion was the cause so I'll be sure to put it in a plastic bag for protection. I give it 5 stars because it works fine and Vornado stands behind the warranty with out making a big fuss with receipts we can't find and such other obstacles. FYI we own 3 of their larger heaters too and they work great. They also come with a 5 year warranty that Vornado has honored again with no fuss or hassles on 2 of them.
Quiet, No Beeping Buttons, Keeps Me Warm!
January 11, 2016
I am so surprised by this thing. I needed something small and fairly quiet to put under my desk in my cubicle. I didn't want any electronic buttons that would beep and alert someone to it being there so the toggle switches on this are perfect for me. I actually have this sitting on a small box under my desk since (to me) the heat doesn't seem to blow upward from the ground enough to keep me warm. Once I put it on the box, though, I can run this thing pretty much everyday. Today was the first time (after two years) that I had any sort of issue with it. It was heating for a few minutes but then it just stopped. The power was still on, but no heat was coming out. I read the manual which said you can use pressurized air to clean it out so I did that and now it is working like a charm once again! I would absolutely purchase this again and again.

**UPDATE** The heater finally crapped out on me after owning it for 2.5 years. I walked through all the troubleshooting steps provided in the manual and it would not come back on. I called the company and because there is a 3 year warranty and they do not have parts to repair this model, they are sending me out a brand new heater! The only catch is that I do have to cut the electrical cord of the one that is broken and send them a photo of it - which is fine since it literally does not work, except for the fact that I keep holding out hope that it will miraculously start working again! lol
Perfect!
December 5, 2014
I am at my desk 5 days a week, 8-13 hours a day, and my feet and legs get cold throughout the day, so it is really important for me to have a heater under my desk. I have a really old Holmes heater, probably about 20 years old, but it recently stopped giving off as much heat. I loved that heater, except that it would tip over easily if not propped up against something, and the reviews for the same model/newer version had the same complaints, so I started looking for other options. I had at least 10 options in my cart at one time, comparing, and mulling over reviews, etc. Needless to say, I am extremely happy with my choice.

It has two simple buttons: on/off and off/low/high. I like that it stops working if tipped over/picked up while on, but does not tip over unless you make an effort to knock it over. It is very quiet and just runs smooth! It gives off heat right away, and very warm. I use it under my desk though, so not sure how it would be in a more open area. It is a nice looking heater too (If you don't like the orange, it comes in black, and white as well).

So far, there are no cons for me, but I've only been using it a month. I read a few one star reviews for all the heaters I looked at, and would be discouraged when someone would write that theirs sparked, rattled, or stopped working shortly after the received; but I think there are going to be defective heaters out there for any of the models, so keep that in mind if you read a few of those.

I will update if something changes, but for now, it's just what I was looking for and more!
Love our Vornados

We live full-time in an RV and have 2 full size Vornados - this one works great too, but a "mini me" to our large ones - it keeps the temp very comfortable so we don't even run the gas furnace unless is gets down to freezing temps and that's to keep the pipes warm.

Heaters are generally heaters, turn them on, they blow hot air. This one is actually relatively quiet, very stable, and relatively attractive (for a heater). The switches seem sturdy, although the heat setting switch configuration is a bit confusing, as it goes from high to low to medium.Overall, I'd certainly recommend this if you're looking for a small/medium room heater.

Safety for my baby is a priority
June 8, 2017
Tipping point safety feature is awesome! Never hot to the touch, even after being on all winter night. Warmed up the room and kept it warm, cheaper than the unnecessary home unit for sleep time. 5 STARS for the safety and great heat!!!

Summer is here now and I wish it had a few different fan speeds. So it lost a star.
Nice little heater
December 4, 2016
Nice little heater. I bought it for a small office (8X10) above an open warehouse, so the floor tends to be cool in the morning. I keep it on the floor below my desk on low, keeps me warm, not hot. When the temp catches up, I use the fan only function to keep thing circulating. I am sure on the colder mornings coming, the high setting will do just fine.

The fan does make a vibrating noise from time to time, not a lot, but if you touch it on in the center of the fan on the front, it goes away.
Great *little* heater!
October 14, 2016
I love this little heater. By "personal" space heater, they mean that it will not heat an entire room. But it takes the chill off in my bathroom every morning in the winter, and it warms my ankles when I'm sitting in the living room.
Disadvantages? Well, the first one lasted only 2 years until the fan stopped spinning & it smelled like an electrical fire about to begin. I suspect hairs wrapped around the motor, but there was absolutely no way to get inside to clean them out. Still, the price is low enough that I didn't mind too much buying a 2nd one.
Toe Warmer

Ordered this for my freezing office. Used it for several months, every day all day, until about six months in it burned up. Three-year warranty included from Vornado, so I contacted them and after determining there was no repair fix, they sent me a new replacement heater free. Very quiet...Much more quiet than the other brand heater bought by my office after the first Vornado failed. Perfect size to keep my feet toasty throughout the day...enough to warm my office, attracting cold coworkers to come in to defrost and help themselves to my mint candy dish.
Little Powerhouse

Darling little heater - perfect for a counter in a bathroom. My mom has one in bright red. It's quiet and it puts out great heat for a small, enclosed area, plus it has the safety switch on the bottom in case of accidental tip over (which is hard to do because it's a quasi-pyramid shape). Unfortunately, mine arrived DOA - wouldn't even power on. I'm sure Vornado has good warranties, and typically they are great products (we've had 3 full room heaters for 10 years that are still going). I ended up returning this to Amazon almost as soon as I got it and determined it wasn't functional, because they have such an awesome system in place for returns. I won't hesitate to try and order it again though. The missing star is just because of the product arriving broken (it was shipped in it's packaging box - no additional cushion - perhaps Vornado needs to assess how well their packaging actually protects the units during shipping).

Just got the Vornado heater today and it only 10/11/17 it too early to tell. But I did a test. First 30 min on highest temp the smell kind of strong. After 30 min it slow go away. After one hour it barely notice the smell. I have take pic and short video to show the three temp setting does work. At the lowest it put out 120 degree. Middle 139.xx highest 156.xx. I test at the time my room was at 75 degree and have my ceiling fan on highest to not over heat my room when we are not in winter yet. So far the temperature does show it output strong but this will change because the temperature will be a lot colder in the winter so the temperature output might be lower. Please note temp were taking in front on the heater. Will update in the winter if any big significant changes. Because I can only upload one video so I will show the one with the highest setting it can output.
It works, but no digital (all manual).

It's nice, because they are remodeling my apartment and this is my source of heat. It's a relatively (not closed off) living room, but I bought it to save me money, and I don't really think it's doing that (my heaters in my apartment are from 1980). However, It does seem easier to set this to an appropriate temperature in the room. I would recommend buying a mini thermostat if your going to use it.
Good Heater
March 8, 2017
REALLY works well. Heats a 14 x 16 room quickly even when very cold. Only issue is that, possibly as a design/safety feature, it sometimes will not turn on immediately. If I adjust it, by picking it up and placing it back on the carpeted floor, it will turn back on. Very sensitive to movement when working; a small adjustment in movement will turn it off, probably good for safety reasons, but why it occasionally won't turn on at all unless I move it slightly is a little frustrating. Overall, delivers heat quickly as promised.
almost perfect
January 20, 2017
I love/hate this heater, there's so much it has going for it except for one huge flaw. It's nearly silent (that's why I chose a Vornado), effective, compact and feels well made. My only gripe is the thermostat is useless. For anyone thinking about buying this, please be aware this heater is meant to heat the air and gently circulate it to spread through the room. This isn't the type of heater you huddle up near as a substitute for a fire. It blows warm air and heats my 10x20 ft room a few degrees on low (750W) in about 15 minutes. On medium (1125W) it's warm enough to be stifling up close and it's even more so on high (1500W). I've had plenty of other heaters that feel like they'll sear your skin at any of those wattages, so it seems a little odd to only get warm air from it but it's not a problem to me. This may be a plus for those of you with little ones or pets around. There are no hot surfaces to be found.Overall, it's pretty good and I would have given it 5 stars if the thermostat was usable. I just can't ever find that sweet spot that will get it to cycle on and off on it's own. If I slowly turn it up or down just enough to find the on/off points it gets me nowhere because there's a wide margin between the two. No matter how much I've tried tiny adjustments within that range, I've never managed to find a setting where it will maintain the room temperature on it's own.
Definitely recommend for supplemental heat or small rooms!
December 29, 2016
I live in a cold, drafty house and was mainly looking for a way to supplement the heat in my chilliest room... it does just that! It also saved me when it dropped below freezing outside and my heat turned off! With the door closed, the heat is distributed quite evenly and doesn't cause "hot spots", like some other space heaters. I like that it blows a steady stream of warm air instead of unbearably hot heat. It's also aesthetically pleasing, which is extremely nice since I have it on all the time! I would definitely recommend!

Works pretty well, just not a fan (pun intended) of how you get it to work. Setting it to a desired temp would be nice rather than heating up the room and then slowly turning it to fan off. It's good about shutting off immediately once it tips slightly. I like that

This little dynamo made all the difference in our bathroom this past winter. We haven't been able to figure out why it is so cold in there, as we have no issues in the rest of the house. We finally decided to just give up and see if we could heat it more efficiently with one of these little gizmos. It works like a charm! Each morning, I'd turn it on so that by the time my hubby was ready to take his shower, the room would be toasty. Works fast, heats well, is quiet and no need to worry about fire hazards, as it automatically shuts off if bumped or knocked over.
My only complaint is that I specifically ordered this item because it said it was "Made in the USA" and I found out it's not. Bummer.
Fits the niche
January 9, 2015
The Vornado Personal Space Heater does several jobs fairly well, with the low heat setting being a weak point. At 375 watts, the Vornado on low uses almost twice as much juice as the 200 watt Lasko MySpace, but won't even heat the 3' by 6' closet cubicle where I keep my computer. The Lasko has a smaller footprint, costs half as much and both units will heat your hands. If that really is all you want, maybe settle for the Lasko.

The high setting is also pretty anemic, but it will heat the cubicle. At 750 watts, it's not a 'leave it on and save money' option, and it won't heat a small room either. But it does use half the energy of a typical space heater, and looks MUCH better on a desktop.

The fan function is a nice two-fer, as I won't have to switch the unit out come summer. But with the heat output being so low, the fan has the unexpected consequence of making the space heater kind of drafty. It would be better if the fan had a hi and lo setting.

The look, build and safety standards seem to be acceptable. I'll keep this unit. It's not great but it fits the niche it's created for.
Cool little heater.

Design flaw with this heater, the 'tip over' mechanism on the bottom doesn't reach the floor on regular tile or wood surfaces, so it doesn't allow the heater to be turned on. On carpet it works great, and for a flat surface I had to jerry rig some cardboard to hit that switch to trick the heater into turning on. So far it works great, I bought mine as used/refurbished from the manufacturer. I haven't had much reason to use it so far, but swapped it out with a larger heater i had been using in my bathroom, this should be perfect for the size of the room.
Would be five stars if it didn't keep on breaking
December 21, 2013
This will be my third purchase of this heater (first two times at a store, third, on here). Maybe it seems crazy to keep on buying something that breaks but I haven't found another heater that I like as much (but please feel free to make any recommendations!)

What I like:
It really is a personal heater. I am often cold so I alternate setting it at my feet or on the desk (or if I'm on the couch, I just set it on the couch next to me). I run it almost the entire day but it doesn't seem to affect my electricity bill noticeably. I also like that it has two heat settings and a fan setting. The unit itself doesn't get hot (except for the front, obviously) and it's light-weight. It has a good sound--not too loud but comforting heater sound. Nice shape and easy to pick up with the handle. There used to be different colors available but I've only been able to find black now so that's a shame.

Here's the info on breaking (this has happened to the two that I have used so far):
After a couple of months, the on and off switch starts to feel like it's getting harder to switch. A month or so later, you won't be able to press the switch at all! The first one was stuck in the off position and wouldn't budge! I finally forced it with a tool but it physically broke on the inside. The second one got stuck in the on position so now I just tip the heater on its side when I want to turn it off (safety feature) and unplug it before bed. But that's annoying and it worries me that it could be a fire-hazard so I decided to by yet again, another heater.

This to me sounds like a design flaw since it's happened to me 100% of the time. I'm not rough with the heaters either.

I would buy it again. :)
February 14, 2017
I would have given this 5 stars but there is a slight burning smell sometimes. It was strongest when it was first plugged in and was a little overwhelming. I just opened a window and let it run for a little while to get what I assume was manufacturing residue off the heating element. After the first use where I let it run for a while, the scent has gone away. I have only noticed it when I haven't run the unit for a day or two and turn it on the first time.As for function, this thing can heat a room really well. I don't regret purchasing it and have used it nearly every day since buying it. The automatic on/off function does actually work and keeps the room the temperature you want it. You do have to play with the dial to adjust to your desired temperature as there are no numbers.

Works pretty well, just not a fan (pun intended) of how you get it to work. Setting it to a desired temp would be nice rather than heating up the room and then slowly turning it to fan off. It's good about shutting off immediately once it tips slightly. I like that
Nice and quiet! Good for a small room.
February 21, 2015
This heater works but it's not going to give you instant heat for a larger room. Especially if you have a forced air heating system circulating air through the room. I thought it would be a little stronger on the volume of air it could move but it worked for me. I'm using it in a small room in my basement. After about 30 min. on low, it raised the temp from 65F to 70. The room is adequately insulated and doesn't have any outside air leaking from the window. Closing off a return vent in the room helped! What I like about this the most is its quiet! It will gather dust on the inside elements and fan after extended use. Any type of heater that moves air and doesn't use a filter will do this. Keeping it clean is key to its longevity. Not sure how well a vacuum would work because of how it's designed. Compressed air would be the better choice.
Good Product

I purchased this heater based on reviews. I use it in my bathroom during the rainy, cold months of the year. It works well and takes the chill off the room fairly quickly. I haven't noticed any annoying smells like some heaters produce.

It worked great at first but then the blades got bent so it make a very loud clicking noise and now I don't even know if they spin. That could be my fault though since I travel with it and could hav bent something.
Not a great heater
October 24, 2016
I'm surprised at all the great reviews; perhaps I purchased this for the wrong purpose. I don't find that this fan provides much warmth at all. I use it as a personal space heater at work because my office is freezing, but even when I have it directly next to my body on my desk I'm not very warmed. It is not nearly as powerful as I expected (and I didn't expect it to warm my office).
... only blows warm air (which is how it stays cool to the touch)
January 16, 2016
As others have said it really only blows warm air (which is how it stays cool to the touch). The fan seems to only have one speed even though there is a switch that looks like it controls fan speed (maybe that is for the two different heat settings?) If you have it in a small room with the doors/ windows shut it probably does an OK job at recirculating warm air. But if you actually want to feel the heat from this thing you're going to want to have it sitting a on your desk a few feet away from you and pointed right at you. The thing is that there are both lower and higher wattage personal heaters out there at a cheaper cost than this little vornado. I haven't tried any of the others but some of these seem like they would be a little more effective for less.

Lower wattage
http://www.amazon.com/Lasko-100-MyHeat-Personal-Ceramic/dp/B003XDTWN2/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1452963098&sr=1-1&keywords=personal+heater

Higher wattage
http://www.amazon.com/Lasko-754200-Ceramic-Adjustable-Thermostat/dp/B000TKDQ5C/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1452963262&sr=1-2&keywords=personal+heater

I suppose it depends on your intended use but do some shopping. I decided to try the vornado personal space heater because I own another one of their fans and like their vortex technology for circulating the air in the whole room but I really thought that it was a bit of a gimmick at this size.
Ok heater
January 11, 2016
This heater is not all that I expected it to be. It is not bad by any means, but does not pump out quite as much heat as I would have hoped. It does a decent job of keeping my toes warm, which was the idea, so no major complaints. It does have an odd smell when you first unpack it, but it does go away after some use. Works well to heat up the bathroom, but not any bigger space. Love the safety switch feature though! It has two heat settings and a fan setting, which will be handy in the summer months. I've had this heater for a few months now and have no major complaints, other than wishing for a bit more warmth!
Energy-Efficient, But There Are Hotter Heaters
January 3, 2016
Look, I get it, this heater isn't designed to feel warm up close like some ceramic heaters - it's meant to warm the whole room up. It's also nice that its high temp uses half the watts my Lasko (Lasko 754200 Ceramic Heater with Adjustable Thermostat) does. I got it with that in mind. Having said that, after running both of these for an hour when my room was frigid cold I have to go with the Lasko. It comes down to this...The Vornado makes my frigid room cool. Not cold, not warm, just slightly on the cooler side. The Lasko makes my frigid room toasty. Not cold, not warm, but toasty. And I do like toasty.

It is good for small areas
November 1, 2017
The plus side of this unit is that it barely makes any noise. It is sooo quiet. The minus is that every time you pick it up to change places, it stops working and when you put it down you have to start/stop the unit to start again. It is good for small areas. Not a very strong heater. Good for my bathroom.
Meh.
November 24, 2016
Doesn't get nearly as hot as I would expect from a "whole room heater". Don't get me wrong... after letting it run for a bit it will heat up the whole room it's just not as hot as I'd like. Not much (if any) appreciable difference between the I, II, and III settings either. The "thermostat" knob is nice.Overall, it's fine, I just wouldn't buy it again.

February 13, 2016
This is the second Vornado MVH Whole Room Vortex Heater that I have purchased. I liked it so much that I purchased another. My original one from 3 yrs ago is still going strong but my purchase from Feb 2015 died suddenly. It does not turn on, no fan or heating element. It says there is a 5 yr warranty so I will contact Vornado to replace or fix it.Unlike other reviews, I find that these heaters do a great job circulating heat in a fairly large space. My finished basement is long and open and it warmed the entire area and eliminated the drafty feeling. I feel that the 3 settings help minimize the utility bill and it was energy efficient. Very disappointed in the short shelf life but I will contact Vornado to see what they say/do about the 5 yr warranty.
Nice, but no Whole Room heater.
January 26, 2016
This Dorado is advertised as a Whole Room heater. If it is, it would have to be a small room. It has a three way switch in the middle, next to an On/Off switch (nice touch) and an analog dial for heat. The middle switch is to regulate power from 750 watts (Lo) to 1150 (med) to 1500 watts (Hi).It's a nice looking little personal heater. The one I received I believe was defective. I could tell no discernible difference between Lo, Med, or Hi. It puts out a warm circulating air warming the ambient temperature around it, but not much more than a few feet around it. Because I couldn't get it to be more than a personal heater, I sent it back. To be fair, I can't say how it would be if the middle switch is defective, and it can't get out of Lo, but based on what I did get, I don't think this would ever be a Whole Room heater.
Quieter, but heat output not any better than cheaper models
November 27, 2015
They certainly are quieter, but I bought two for a 30 x 20 ft room and put them at either end. From the other reviews I thought we'd be roasting with two. But that wasn't the case. We have two ceiling fans that push the hot air down and I didn't notice the room being any warmer than our cheap little holmes heaters.
doesn't seem to heat much of the room
January 31, 2015
Can't say as this works as fantastically as other reviewers have said. I bought this heater because I live in an older apt where not much sun gets in the windows and heat is supplied by wall heaters in each room. The wall heaters are loud, have to run for hours and are expensive. They don't seem to heat the whole room up too well so I bought this heater based on other reviewers comments hoping it would cut my electricity costs and do a better job. Alas, it doesn't seem to heat up the room any better than the wall heaters were doing. I set it on high and ran it for at least an hour. It is warm right in front of the heater but move away to another part of the room and it doesn't seem feel any warmer. The room is about 250 sqft.

The goods and and bads about this little heater
January 17, 2017
I've had this heater for exactly 2 years. Was happy with it, until now; it's started to make a loud noise, the fan hitting the inside of the case or another internal part. I tried taking the heater apart, but am prevented by their use of a type of screw head I've never seen before and never seen a screw driver designed for it. Regarding the 3 year warantee, the manufacturer requires you pay for the shipping to their service center, and of course there is no guarantee they'll honor the warantee.

I use this heater on the low setting to heat my legs when sitting at my desk or watching TV. It only uses 375 watts a the low setting, most unusual. It's quieter than most electric fan heaters, another plus. On the minus side, when in use, it gave off a fairly strong plastic smell for the first year +, definitely a negative.
Longevity Lacking
September 12, 2016
I have had my Vornado desk heater for 1 year now. I run it every work day because I find my office freezing and my hands are constantly cold. It has done very well for a long time. It heats a very small area, so it needs to be close to me to work and I find that the side of my body not directly next to it still gets chilly. Recently, it has been very difficult to start up. It will make a loud sound like a helicopter starting, but it will dissipate in a couple of minutes and go back to it’s normal, barely-there sound. Even more recently, when I turn the on-switch, it makes a small hum and doesn’t actually start. If I smack it around some, I can usually get it to start, and then the loud helicopter noise again. I think I will try a different heater next time.
Stopped working as consistently after ~1 year of usage, b
February 2, 2016
It worked very well for about 1 year, but now it doesn't stay on more than 20 minutes without clicking itself off, even on the lowest heat setting. However for the price, and the efficiency it had when I used it, I feel that I got more than my money's worth.

If you're trying to find a quality heater you want to pull out every winter and for winters to come, go a little higher quality than this. However if you are just trying to get through a winter, you're in college and need to heat up a dorm or your apartment is cold and you need a little booster, this guy will be your hero
Not a Good Choice for a Personal Space Heater
February 7, 2014
Vornado makes very good fans and this heater is no exception. The problem is that the fan makes the heater feel cool even though it is heating the room. Think about riding in a convertible on a hot summer afternoon. It's hot outside and yet the breeze feels cool as you drive along at highway speed. The same applies with this heater.

I used it last night in my bedroom in conjunction with the Lasko 200 watt My Heat, which is a very good heater if used within a foot or two of your. It feels like real heat, just like a 1500 watt heater, only with less air flow. I have used it every night for a few weeks and it will keep my bedroom at the same temp. It won't heat the room, but it will maintain the current temp.

So I set the Vornado on low (350 watts) alongside the 200 watt Lasko and the Lasko felt warm while the Vornado did not. I left them both running all night and the room went from 61 degrees to 68 degrees by morning, rather than the 61 degrees with only the Lasko My Heat running. The room temp went up significantly, but the Vornado still felt cool when standing near it.

This heater would be good as a small room heater if it was not blowing directly on you, but it fails as a personal space heater. The space will get warmer, but it won't feel that way to you.
Not as hot as I expected
March 15, 2011
CONS:
From the reviews, I was expecting this thing to be awesome. Granted, I do get colder than most people - I am ALWAYS freezing. This really only points heat into a very small area, making it more of a foot warmer than a "space" heater because it doesn't really heat up a "space". I was originally going to purchase the entire room heater, but figured I should only need a space heater at work... but this really isn't doing the job so I will be saving up money for the room version and see if that works better. I did notice the burning smell that some of the other reviewers mentioned, but this really only happened the very first time I turned it on... so I'm not going to list that as a negative... my coworkers haven't said anything about a burning smell either.

PROS:
If you just want toasty feet, this is very good for that... my feet are darn toasty. It's very quiet and doesn't seem to use much energy at all... my coworkers haven't even noticed that I'm using it. I was worried about blowing out a circuit at work, but that hasn't happened. I like the function where if you tip it, it turns off. I know some reviewers said they found this annoying, but I don't know why they're kicking it around so much... it never turns off unless you kick it.

December 12, 2016
We bought this about a year ago, and we use it almost daily. Even on high, it does not always heat, presumably because of its own internal regulation. So, if you want a unit that puts out heat when you want it, buy a model with more control for the user. And we knew this before we bought it, but you can't just run it in "fan" mode - it's either heat or nothing (and often we don't even get heat).

I've had two, and both stop working after about a year.
September 25, 2017
Just to preface this review, I've now had two of these, and I hate to write this review because they were perfect... while they worked. Unfortunately, after about a year, the first one started making this horrible clicking sound when I first turned it on. A loud clicking sound. So loud in fact, that my coworkers came into my office to ask what "that weird sound" was. The heater would make this sound for about 2 minutes, and then would get quieter and act like normal. However, after about a week of it doing this each time I turned it on, one day, it completely stopped working. It no longer would do anything at all when I turned it on. No air blowing, and just smelled like burning plastic.Since it had worked perfectly up until this point, I figured it was a fluke and ordered another one. However, it has now been about a year since I purchased this second replacement, and THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED. It started making the dreaded clicking sound when I would turn it on, did this for about a week, and then today it completely stopped working and smelled like burning plastic. This makes me sad, because it was a completely silent heater and put out the perfect level of heat for my office. But after having two with the exact same problem, I can no longer buy this brand. Time to look elsewhere! I'm giving it two stars because like I said, it was perfect while it worked.
Noisy and underpowered
September 6, 2017
I bought this because my 15-year old ceramic heater died last winter. I knew there was no thermostat, just high heat, low heat, or fan only; for the price I was willing to accept fewer features. The problem is, as a space heater, the Vornado just doesn't deliver. On the low setting, sitting under my desk, the heater doesn't even keep my feet warm on a cool fall day. On high heat, it is NOISY until I smack it. It quiets down for a few minutes and then starts up again. Maybe it will get better, but as of day 1, I'm underwhelmed. I've owned several Vornado fans, so assumed this would be similar quality; it isn't.
Returned ~ Good Heater ~ Not For My Space
May 17, 2017
Puts out lot of heat if you stand right in front of it. Hot!!! Safety I like, if it barely tips, cuts off. Ordered for very small bathroom. Heater to small to heat my bathroom. I recommend if you need a heater & you like this company. You read online how many square feet this heater will heat, etc! It's probably great under an office desk to keep your feet warm.
Smells like burning plastic after only one month.
April 25, 2017
I purchased one of these sweet little heaters a few years ago and it was wonderful. It finally died, so I ordered another one in December of 2016.. That one lasted until March of 2017, and started making so much noise that I was afraid to use it so I ordered another one. I have been using this one for less than a month and has started smelling like burned plastic, and scaring me. I think it could cause a fire. I'll be ordering a different brand name and hope that all the companies that make small heaters have not stopped making quality products. I have several Vornado fans and love them. I'm pretty sad that I can't depend on this company in the future.
Only Lasts 5 Months
March 6, 2017
I have had two of these space heaters. They work really well for a couple of months, and then both of them after about 5 months start making a really loud clicking sound almost like the fan is hitting against something and it doesn't go away. I thought maybe I just stored the first one weird but the same exact thing just happened to my second one. The sound is really loud and obnoxious and it makes the heater unusable. Too bad because I like the safety off feature and it gives a good amount of heat for under my desk at work.
This heater was perfect for my 8'x5' office. It was just short-lived.
January 24, 2017
This heater is perfect for my 8'x5' office. It's quiet and quick to heat and small enough to sit on my desk extension work counter and not be in my way.
I did really like this heater. However, 2 weeks ago the heater fan started making a loud clicking noise that would subside after about 20 seconds. I could deal with that, but today when I turned it on, the fan didn't come on and it had an immediate burning smell as well as the outer casing got warm. Since my "return" window closed 1/31/2017, I have no re-course but to throw it away. For three months of not even every day use, I would not recommend anyone buy this heater. I have not mis-used this heater. It sat in the same spot on my desk for the entire time it was operational.

Better than a toaster oven... I guess?
October 29, 2017
"Is this thing broken?"--Wife after first use.I, like most of us, enjoy a nice warm bathroom pre-shower and most importantly, post-shower. With the Vornado brand behind it, surely, I thought, this heater that's 3x the price of the other best sellers will blow 3x the heat. After all, if this thing is anything like their regular fans (which btw I highly recommend), I'll be warm in seconds. After all, my old $20 Honeywell heater was able to get warm in about 5 seconds and the room in about 1 min. (Think small hair dryer). Well... I was sadly mistaken. After plugging this thing in and turning it on full bore, your first thought is, "How do I get this thing on the high setting?" Unfortunately, this is the high setting. The heat is slow to become noticeable, the fan even slower. Painfully slow. You can't help but to think it's broken. But don't worry. If you've got a small bathroom and 30 mins to kill... it will eventually indeed heat your room nice and evenly. But seriously, this thing is a disappointment to the Vornado name. Right off the bat, while the build quality is decent, the fan speed needs to be a minimum of 3x faster to get the heat dispersed quicker. But also, the heat must simply come up quicker than what it does. For the price I expected better. Much better.
deceptive Vornado heater

doesn't warm up a big room - okay for small bathroom but the heat blowing is slow and low fan only - you have to leave it 30 minutes on before you can feel any heat in the room -
Overly sensitive tip-over feature prevents use on older wood floor
November 16, 2016
It took me a couple days to figure out why the heater kept cutting out. There's a large button on the bottom of the unit that is pressed in when the heater is sitting flat on a even surface. The heater will not operate unless the button is pressed in. The problem is that the button is designed to be so sensitive that I discovered the heater would not work consistently on my older and slightly uneven (in places) wood floor -- even though the unit was upright and secure and in no danger of tipping. My workaround is to stick a coaster under the heater where the button is.
Not worth the money

Bought this heater Dec, 2014, it has now stopped working (Aug 2016), and it was only used during the fall and winter. I have had less expense heaters last longer. Did not like the controls on this heater, hard for old eyes to see, also not like that it did not have a timer. It seemed to put out a good amount of heat while it worked.

it smells. the smell that one reviewer said "goes away after a day" didnt go away after 3-4 uses, twice for 1 1/2 hours. the smell is a specifically noxious plastic odor that forced me to open the window in the freezing cold (self-defeating). it stays througout the entire use. i returned the item and went to a retail store where they had some identical vornados laying around. i had them try the demonstrator to rule out mine being a freak occurrence. it smelled the same as the one i bought. i subsequently bought a delonghi which doesnt smell. (some laskos were there, they also smelled like the vornado, just not as strong).
Meh, if you want to heat a room...don't buy this one
February 2, 2015
It heats, but by no means is it a full room heater. I have to sit directly in front of it with my hands an inch from the logo in the center for it to even warm my hands. Sitting less than 3 ft away, the air is already getting chilly as it reaches me. Three. Feet. Away. And I'm indoors. In Atlanta. And the room is already heated by a Central system to 64 (in order to keep the upstairs from getting uncomfortable, I can't heat the downstairs any further than that via the HVAC, which is why I wanted the space heater). For the price of a whole room heater, I got a personal heater. Kind of. If I sit close. And lean in.

Does not have good longevity
March 15, 2017
Purchased Feb 2015, worked great that winter under my work desk, unplugged and put back in box early spring of 2016. October 2016 I took it back out and plugged in, worked for less than a week then the fan stopped running. I realize this is a cheap unit, but I was expecting more than a few months use out of it.....
Great small heater for 2 months then developed a rattle
January 10, 2017
Original review (see update below): I specifically bought this heater because of its lower wattage (750W) as I found all higher wattage heater too hot. When I initially tried it out it seemed a bit under-powered but then decided it did actually make for a great personal space heater. It is not suited for even small rooms but is great to keep your feet/legs warm under a table or other very small space . To warm up your feet/legs when chilled the higher setting works pretty well but is definitely much weaker than a standard heater. Where the unit really shines is at the lower setting which provides a gentle, warm air stream that never ends up feeling too warm. So no more turning a heater on and off and alternating between too cold and then too hot. My only complaint is that when I first turned on the unit there was an acrid, burning plastic smell that went away after a while but stunk up my room a bit and gave me a bit of a headache The factory should run these units before shipping to burn off that residue.

Update - 2 months after purchase
Was great for 2 months. Then developed a rattle - sounds like the fan blade is hitting something. Return window closed after 1 month! Can't recommend this because it developed a defect so soon after purchase.
and am horrible about returning items
September 22, 2016
I was extremely excited for this to arrive, and purchased it just before the holidays last year. I bought this for under my desk at work, as it is always an ice box in my office. I haven't had this a full year yet. I used it maybe once or twice, and it started making a knocking noise. I tried to re-position the unit, thinking it was off-balance. No change. Turn it off. Turn it back on later...maybe it's finicky. On and off, on and off. Still making a noise. For the most part, I gave up on this thing a long time ago, and am horrible about returning items. I only attempt to use it when it is so sufficiently frigid in my office that my teeth are chattering and I can no longer concentrate.

Today was the day. That it just decided to die. Burning motor smell. Grinding to a complete stop. For $30, not so much love lost. But for $30, I should have at least gotten a full year's worth out of this thing. Not a semi-functional, loudly clanging, embarrasing unit that I can't even use for the purpose in which it was intended.

I am moving on to another unit. I don't know which one...but I need something that works, without causing a fuss, and that doesn't burn up.
Poor reliability
February 24, 2015
The product works fine, when it works. First unit failed within the first 7 days - the switch on the bottom of the unit, which detects if the unit is tipped over, stopped working, and the unit stopped turning on. So we sent the first unit back to Amazon, and got another unit in return. Within a month, the fan started making loud noises when first turning on. After a week or so, the fan stopped turning on at all. Now, the fan will only turn on intermittently, usually after some persuading (i.e. banging the top of the unit with a hand). I don't expect a space heater to last for years, but this poor reliability is unacceptable.

Better than a toaster oven... I guess?

March 31, 2017
doesn't warm up a big room - okay for small bathroom but the heat blowing is slow and low fan only - you have to leave it 30 minutes on before you can feel any heat in the room -
The built-in safety mechanism that automatically shuts off the heater ...
December 27, 2016
The built-in safety mechanism that automatically shuts off the heater when it overheats is defective. The heater shuts off, even when it is not blocked, or overheating. We have not been able to get this heater to operate for more than a few minutes. We are returning it.
Not worth the money
August 26, 2016
Bought this heater Dec, 2014, it has now stopped working (Aug 2016), and it was only used during the fall and winter. I have had less expense heaters last longer. Did not like the controls on this heater, hard for old eyes to see, also not like that it did not have a timer. It seemed to put out a good amount of heat while it worked.
:-( SHORT-LIFE, but it WAS very quiet and effective.
December 9, 2014
IT STOPPED WORKING (this update posted October 2015). After less than a year (9 months at the most) it stopped working. I still need to contact VORNADO for a refund or replacement. I'm disappointed that AMAZON does NOT handle this for me. Of course, I have easy access to my Amazon receipt. I will update this review again. When it was NEW: It is very quiet. Lightweight. Does a great job of warming a small area. I have not tried it in a medium or large room. I cannot give it five stars b/c the small red light on the front is very small and dim, I can't see it unless I view it at eye-level. It is difficult to tell whether the heater is powered on when the fan isn't running. So I like to unplug the heater whenever I turn it off. As of October 2015, I no longer recommend it b/c it lasted less than a year. Whereas our Holmes, although audible, is still working-- it just needs vacuuming periodically.
Good heater with a big flaw
November 30, 2014
Pros: Very quiet, fairly effective at heating up the whole room evenly by gently circulating the airCon: Very imprecise temperature controls. Turning the dial to the middle heats up a small room to 72-74 degrees. Turning the dial just a nudge down leaves the room at 60-62 degrees. Nudge it up a bit, you are back to 70+ degrees. If you like something in-between, like me, your are bleep our of luck. Not sure if it's a design flaw, or the analog dial is just incapable of more precise temperature control.

Second Update: VH202 heater is failing... again.
September 3, 2017
Second update: The new Vornado heater is already making a clicking noise. I'm not sure what is going on with Vornado's quality control but the VH202 has a ridiculous rate of failure. How can a heater that sits on my desk and is never moved fail so many times?Update: I contacted Vornado about the issue and they sent me a brand new VH202. Vornado's customer service really seems to take care of their customers. However, I admit I would have liked the originally purchased product to last longer. It only took a few business days for the heater to arrive. It is currently sitting on my desk and working perfectly. Thanks Vornado!------This is the third Vornado VH202 heater I have purchased. The first one died after 3 years, the second is great and my wife uses it often. However, the third one which sits on my desk and never moves has developed issues. The fan blades used to spin around without touching anything inside the case. Now when I turn the heater on, the fan blades scrape the front grill and make a terrible noise. Sometimes after startup the noise goes away. I guess the blades balance out and move away from the grill. However, sometimes the fan blades continue to make noise until I shut down and power back on.I have owned a combination of six Vornado fans/heaters over the last 4 - 5 years. A year ago, a standing heater unit's cord got so hot the plug melted a bit. Now this desktop one is having issues, different issues but issues none the less. I hope Vornado ups the quality of their products as it seems like more and more products are having issues.
Very disappointed
July 19, 2017
I have had this heater less than 8 months. I keep the heater under my desk, right next to my feet, or on top of my desk, right next to my keyboard to warm my hands. The heat output from the fan has never been tremendous, but it sufficed. I live in California, and haven't used it all that much this last winter, but it is summer now, and due to IT equipment on our floor, they keep the air conditioning pretty high, so I have used it more frequently in the last couple of months. Yesterday, the heat stopped working almost completely. The fan still works, but the 'heat' it puts out has dwindled to almost nothing. Very disappointed that it only lasted a few months with VERY limited use.
enjoyed it's small size and cute appearance
June 15, 2017
At first I was content with this item, enjoyed it's small size and cute appearance, but within four months it went completely on the fritz and is no longer functional. It was used solely as a heat supplement in the bathroom, for 10-15 minutes at a time. The first sign of disfunction was it would make a loud noise as it started up. Eventually this noise was accompanied by the smell of burning plastic. For such a small and relatively expensive item, I expect more from Vornado. I've bought their fans in the past and was considering the larger space heater for next winter. At this point I'm compelled to seek out other products.
Fan Makes Knocking Noise
June 6, 2017
Upon first use this fan started making a "knocking" noise that gradually gets louder. This is the second fan of this exact model that I've bought, and the other one did the same thing until it finally quick working. I bought a second one in the hopes that it wouldn't happen again, but it did. I love the fan when it's working properly!
I work in an office near many people and don't want to have this loud noise coming from my cubicle, so I have discontinued use in order to be a considerate neighbor.
I would return the product if I could.
Electrical Fire
May 22, 2017
The fan blade started hitting the cover a few weeks ago and this would continue for the first few minutes of use until the heater warmed up. A few minutes ago, shortly after turning on the heater, with the fan hitting the cover as it has been lately, an electrical fire broke out from the heater. The distinct odor and cream-like smoke were unmistakeable. The heater was plugged directly into a 15 amp 120-volt wall outlet when this happened, as it always is. Fortunately, I was using it, as I always do, while sitting next to it. No one was injured and I was able to shut off the heater and move it somewhere safe. I have always been warned not to leave these unattended, but this was a stark reminder.
I'm very disappointed. When it was working
April 3, 2017
This heater stopped working after less than two months. I received the heater on 2/13/17, and on 4/3/17 it stopped working. I'm very disappointed. When it was working, it did a fine job. I was using it under my desk at work to keep my toes warm in a cold office.

Do not buy
November 10, 2017
Either mine arrived broken, or this product is just terrible. The air is barely warm. The fan is not very powerful. I think most of the good reviews on this were written by people who got it free. Do yourself a favor and do not buy this heater.
Not for those with chemical sensititivity
October 29, 2017
Came on time. It is as described. It is hard to know if it is turned off from any view but front.I find this dangerous. If you have any problemwith chemical odors, as I do, when this product heats it gives off a plastic smell that can cause sensitive people to have badreactions
Very disappointed in the durability of this unit
March 1, 2017
I purchase 2x of this space/room heater. And within 3 weeks of use both of the unit failed.First unit fan shroud wraped inward causing the fan to completely stop working and second unit fan turns off anything below #4 on the speed setting.Very disappointed in the durability of this unit.
Last only a year
February 15, 2017
This is like my fourth heater with this brand...each heater only last me a year and mind you i dont need it for the whoke year so basically last for one winter of use maybe 4/5 hrs a day... they heat the room really well! but if I have to buy a new heater every year it's disgusting bc then we have to end up throwing in the garbage..If i wish to purchase a heater again it wont be this brand especially if I'm forced to buy a new heater every year to then junk it! not happy about that!
Don't buy this heater - worthless
February 1, 2017
Totally ineffective. At the highest setting, the air is barely warm. A piece of junk. Too bad, I had previous vornado heaters from years ago that were good
Very disappointed. I have Vornado fans that are great
December 22, 2016
Very little power. Needed for small bathroom and it didn't do a thing. Very disappointed. I have Vornado fans that are great, but this left a lot to be desired and cost me $11.00 to ship the darn thing back. RIP OFF.

Do not buy. Cheap Vornado product
March 13, 2017
I bought assuming this would be a good product given it's a Vornado. I've had other products and have been happy with them. This is a cheap product. Had an awful odor when you turned it on. Provides little to no heat - even on the high setting. It could be a faulty product. Should have trusted the other reviews. I will be returning this product.
Didn't make the cut.
March 1, 2017
Had to return it as it started to smoke and smell after a few weeks of use. The buttons also stopped working. It was returned.
You get what you pay for
December 5, 2015
Overall, kind of disappointed since my other Vornado heater is so great. This one, the low setting is not adequate for anything. Mine ratters fairly consistently and I can't figure out how to make it stop. Too bad I threw away the packaging already, because otherwise it would be going back.Update: DO NOT BUY THIS THING. It has a faulty design where the blade comes loose and will turn your heater into a noise maker. BTW, I am on my second one and both have this issue. Note that I would still trust Vornado as a brand in that the two other heaters I have are awesome. Just don't buy this one!
Personal Use Only- Can't Feel the Heat If Over 2 Feet Away.POOR QUALITY
October 13, 2015
As states in the title, this is for personal use, meaning it should be about 1-2 feet away from you for any impact at all. It cannot heat a room. It's currently under my desk at work and on the higher setting. If I move about three feet away from it, I cannot feel any heat. I do feel the breeze of the fan, but it's cool air at that point and the air is no longer warm. For this cost, I would have expected it to be able to perform better. It is very quiet, if that's a feature you're looking for.UPDATED AFTER A YEAR: Heater makes a clicking noise and smells like burnt plastic. FIND A BETTER PRODUCT
Bad product
October 12, 2015
I am on my third one and now it has gone bad. First one worked great for a few months and then stopped working altogether. Contacted Vornado customer service and they sent me a new one. The replacement did not work properly as the blades rubbed against the body of the heater. I contacted customer service and they sent a replacement. This one worked for a few weeks and then the blades started to rub against the body of the heater and often stopping turning altogether. I can squeeze the sides of the heater and the blades will start turning and occasionally they will stop rubbing. I will be buying a different brand. Terrible product but good customer service.
Low quality
September 21, 2015
I purchased this thinking it would be a bit higher quality than other similar heaters since it's a premium brand and slightly premium price. It's significantly lower quality than any other space heater I've had in the past. The cord is very stiff and "plastic" feeling, and the fan started making a grinding noise a few months. Most little heaters like this are excellent, this one is not.

Defective
April 24, 2017
Didn't smell right, and then the motor just conked out after I'd used it less than a dozen times. Sure is a far cry from my old Vornados, which are still working after 15 years or more.
Received in defective condition - return was simple and new product shipped quickly.
March 2, 2017
Didn't seem to heat like it should, so I decided to return it, but within the day it quit working so I returned it and selected a different model (AVH2 Plus), that I am happy with.
Def does not heat a whole room. Only direct area.
March 18, 2015
This is supposed to heat a whole room. I do not have a large house, so I consider my rooms average. It does heat nicely, but it does not heat a whole room. Or 1/2 a room. It heats the area where it is and dissipates quickly. While it is on, it is good. I bought this for 50.00, and had hoped for something that was warmer then this puts out.
Don't even think about it. No quality control, broke within a few minutes.
February 27, 2015
Right out of the box it worked for a few minutes and never worked again. You'd think there would be through quality control applied to something that might burn your house down (or in this case let water pipes freeze and break) , but you'd be wrong. Needed heat quickly, waited three days and then it does not work! Should have gone to Home Depot.
Don't Buy This Hoping for Heat
December 15, 2014
If you're looking for real heat, this definitely isn't it. It blows minimal and barely warm air. There are settings but basically work the same- all you're going to get is a little bit of sort of kind of thinking about it almost warm air. I checked the reviews before purchasing and was hoping it would be as good as most of the reviews implied.
