Nicely Featured, Average Room Dimension Heater For The Price
February 9, 2017
This unit is meant for INDOOR USE ONLY, AND THEREFORE NOT MEANT FOR SITUATIONS WHERE THE UNIT COULD GET WET, SO IF YOU'RE USING IT IN A BATHROOM SITUATION, MAKE SURE THAT IT IS PLACED WELL AWAY FROM WHERE IT MIGHT BE SUBJECTED TO WATER SPLASHES. Bought this unit to replace an older Holmes unit of a slightly smaller physical size but equal wattage, which finally died after many years of trouble-free operation. So glad that I picked this one as the replacement. Old unit had a digital clock readout which was a nice but useless feature from across the room for telling the time, but it also did enable a pre-set timed "heater on and heater off" feature which I never used. More peace of mind just being in the room when I want the unit to be on, and turning it off manually whenever I wouldn't be in the room. In the place of the all but useless (for me) digital clock and timer feature, this one has an actual thermostat in the unit, and not simply an adjustable "guess-timate" dial to "kind of" get an idea of when the temperature is somewhere close to where you set it. This one also has dual power draw settings to choose from, either 750 watts for a gentler and quieter (still noticeable at about 8 feet away, but by no means interfering with conversation, tv viewing, or sleeping) heat output, and/or a full 1500 watts setting if you need a really cold room heated up much quicker, or an "Eco-Smart Heat" setting which is a combination of those two settings using both if necessary to achieve the desired room temperature. The Holmes print brochure included with the unit is available in a pdf format document from the holmesproducts (dot) com website. Search for the HEH8031 owner's guide.
I still use it and it still works great. Thermostat might be off a couple degrees now ...

Purchased this about 4 years ago to compensate a faulty Gas Heating System at my house. Saved me about $500 a month on Gas after plugging this in. Added about $38 to my electric Bill. Worked for ME! I still use it and it still works great. Thermostat might be off a couple degrees now but easily compensate that by resetting the temperature 2 digits for a correction. I use it to heat 3 rooms that are about 12X20 with 10 Foot Ceilings. Also it is not too loud compared to other Space Heaters I have used. Heck of a Buy for the Price.

This little heater is a real workhorse! I highly recommend. It has several temperature settings & puts out fierce heat on the higher ones. Warms the bathroom nicely before a shower and the one in my bedroom provides cozy warmth while I'm piled on my bed reading.
Nifty Way to supplement the heat in my apartment!
October 27, 2016
I love this terrific little heater! I have two cats and I don't have to worry that it will get too hot for them to be near it. Actually, they like to curl up on the floor near it. Almost like it's a little fireplace:) I like the thermostat on it. The heat comes on as needed to maintain the temp in the room. Also, it's very quiet! Very happy New Yorker here...
Glad I did
January 11, 2016
After reading on heaters I decided on this one for its dollar to function value. Glad I did, turns out to be a great room heater.
• Cheap and efficient
• Works very well at holding a room temp to the settings
• Has a great sensor that if you bump/jolt the unit or tip it the unit turns off automatically
• A bit lightweight, would be nice to see a heavier base
Nice little heater conked out after 2 years and is being replaced for free by company
June 29, 2017
I bought this little heater 2 years ago and have used it frequently in my office. It does the job nicely. It doesn't heat the room up super-quickly, but it does heat it up, and it does so quietly. Last week, though, it simply stopped working. I contacted the company because I saw in the manual that there was a 5-year warranty. They were very nice about it. They told me to send them a photo of the unit with the power cord cut off, and showing the plate with the serial number, and have said that they will send me a new unit in the next few days for free.
the small size is great and for a small room it is very effective
October 19, 2016
We bought this small heater about 2 years ago. It works perfectly for our bathroom, the small size is great and for a small room it is very effective. We stored it for summer and when fall weather cooled a bit we discovered that it did not work at all. No light, no sound...nuthin'.
I inquired about the warranty and was promptly advised that Vornado would send us a replacement within the week at no charge.
We live near the coast so the ocean air is hard on all electronics. I suspect some internal corrosion was the cause so I'll be sure to put it in a plastic bag for protection. I give it 5 stars because it works fine and Vornado stands behind the warranty with out making a big fuss with receipts we can't find and such other obstacles. FYI we own 3 of their larger heaters too and they work great. They also come with a 5 year warranty that Vornado has honored again with no fuss or hassles on 2 of them.
Quiet, No Beeping Buttons, Keeps Me Warm!
January 11, 2016
I am so surprised by this thing. I needed something small and fairly quiet to put under my desk in my cubicle. I didn't want any electronic buttons that would beep and alert someone to it being there so the toggle switches on this are perfect for me. I actually have this sitting on a small box under my desk since (to me) the heat doesn't seem to blow upward from the ground enough to keep me warm. Once I put it on the box, though, I can run this thing pretty much everyday. Today was the first time (after two years) that I had any sort of issue with it. It was heating for a few minutes but then it just stopped. The power was still on, but no heat was coming out. I read the manual which said you can use pressurized air to clean it out so I did that and now it is working like a charm once again! I would absolutely purchase this again and again.
**UPDATE** The heater finally crapped out on me after owning it for 2.5 years. I walked through all the troubleshooting steps provided in the manual and it would not come back on. I called the company and because there is a 3 year warranty and they do not have parts to repair this model, they are sending me out a brand new heater! The only catch is that I do have to cut the electrical cord of the one that is broken and send them a photo of it - which is fine since it literally does not work, except for the fact that I keep holding out hope that it will miraculously start working again! lol
December 5, 2014
I am at my desk 5 days a week, 8-13 hours a day, and my feet and legs get cold throughout the day, so it is really important for me to have a heater under my desk. I have a really old Holmes heater, probably about 20 years old, but it recently stopped giving off as much heat. I loved that heater, except that it would tip over easily if not propped up against something, and the reviews for the same model/newer version had the same complaints, so I started looking for other options. I had at least 10 options in my cart at one time, comparing, and mulling over reviews, etc. Needless to say, I am extremely happy with my choice.
It has two simple buttons: on/off and off/low/high. I like that it stops working if tipped over/picked up while on, but does not tip over unless you make an effort to knock it over. It is very quiet and just runs smooth! It gives off heat right away, and very warm. I use it under my desk though, so not sure how it would be in a more open area. It is a nice looking heater too (If you don't like the orange, it comes in black, and white as well).
So far, there are no cons for me, but I've only been using it a month. I read a few one star reviews for all the heaters I looked at, and would be discouraged when someone would write that theirs sparked, rattled, or stopped working shortly after the received; but I think there are going to be defective heaters out there for any of the models, so keep that in mind if you read a few of those.
I will update if something changes, but for now, it's just what I was looking for and more!
Love our Vornados
September 11, 2014
We live full-time in an RV and have 2 full size Vornados - this one works great too, but a "mini me" to our large ones - it keeps the temp very comfortable so we don't even run the gas furnace unless is gets down to freezing temps and that's to keep the pipes warm.

decent for the price

nice inexpensive little heater. not gonna heat large areas, of course, but did well for a small 10x10 room during the cold season. Seen a lot of bad reviews on this one... not sure why. thermostat works fine on mine. One thing IS true, that the power cord does heat up a bit - I think the wire gauge used is incorrect for something that uses that many amps. I didn't use the high setting, and kept an eye on it. holding up just fine for now.
Great for small room
January 10, 2017
This heater works perfectly for what I needed it for. I am using it to heat up the bathroom since the tile room keeps it very cold. This little heater does a great job warming up the room so I can get ready and not be freezing cold. However, I would. It recommend this heater if you are trying to heat up a larger space or using it for a long period of time. I normally turn on the heater about 10 minutes before I plan to start getting ready and it runs throughout my morning and evening routines, but I would not run this for a long period of time.
December 5, 2016
We got this to put in our sons room. We want to make sure that his room stays warm in the winter without heating the entire house. The issue that we had with the previous one is that it was difficult to control the temperature. Sometimes it would heat to a good temperature, while other times it would be way too hot.
Our baby monitor came with a setting to tell us what temperature the room is.
With this one the temperature is always consistent (even across the room). This comes with an exact temp feature and three fan settings (High, Low, and Eco). Eco is in the middle of low and high.
The only downside is that the red-light is on when it is plugged in as opposed to when the heater is on. This means that if the room is at all dark then you will only know if the heater is on when it is pumping out heat. Once it is on, it stays on and works wonderfully. I just wish there was a light indicating when it was on so I wouldn't need to mess with it while my son is asleep.
Great for a Smaller Room
April 10, 2016
Great winter buy. It heats up very quickly, but is very tunnel like with the heat flow. If you're not within a foot of the heater in the direct center, it's hard to feel the effects. Took about 45 minutes to heat a small room to the temperature on the display. Worked great for us because it was used in a small bedroom with the door closed, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it for a larger room. We tried it in our living room and the effects were barely noticeable unless sitting directly in front of it. I like that it has an automatic turn off if the heater is moved. We have a toddler in the house, and although she never touched the heater, it was a concern of mine. Overall it was a good buy, it worked for heating the bedroom before bed without having to turn the house temperature up, but anything larger it really wouldn't be that great.
Great Heater, But Having Issues Early On
April 12, 2014
I had a very similar model that looks identical, however I needed another small space heater and got this one. I love all of the adjustable settings. It does a great job at heating up small rooms at a decent rate and provides a lot of comfort. However after owning this space heater for one winter, it already is starting to make grinding/rattling noises like an old heater. I've never known this to happen in the identical model that I've used for a few years now without any issues. This is a great heater for a great price but beware, it might fail sooner than you would expect.
I like it.

Doesn't shut off if it falls...
Small but Mighty
April 1, 2016
This little dynamo made all the difference in our bathroom this past winter. We haven't been able to figure out why it is so cold in there, as we have no issues in the rest of the house. We finally decided to just give up and see if we could heat it more efficiently with one of these little gizmos. It works like a charm! Each morning, I'd turn it on so that by the time my hubby was ready to take his shower, the room would be toasty. Works fast, heats well, is quiet and no need to worry about fire hazards, as it automatically shuts off if bumped or knocked over.
My only complaint is that I specifically ordered this item because it said it was "Made in the USA" and I found out it's not. Bummer.
Fits the niche
January 9, 2015
The Vornado Personal Space Heater does several jobs fairly well, with the low heat setting being a weak point. At 375 watts, the Vornado on low uses almost twice as much juice as the 200 watt Lasko MySpace, but won't even heat the 3' by 6' closet cubicle where I keep my computer. The Lasko has a smaller footprint, costs half as much and both units will heat your hands. If that really is all you want, maybe settle for the Lasko.
The high setting is also pretty anemic, but it will heat the cubicle. At 750 watts, it's not a 'leave it on and save money' option, and it won't heat a small room either. But it does use half the energy of a typical space heater, and looks MUCH better on a desktop.
The fan function is a nice two-fer, as I won't have to switch the unit out come summer. But with the heat output being so low, the fan has the unexpected consequence of making the space heater kind of drafty. It would be better if the fan had a hi and lo setting.
The look, build and safety standards seem to be acceptable. I'll keep this unit. It's not great but it fits the niche it's created for.
Cool little heater.
November 13, 2014
Design flaw with this heater, the 'tip over' mechanism on the bottom doesn't reach the floor on regular tile or wood surfaces, so it doesn't allow the heater to be turned on. On carpet it works great, and for a flat surface I had to jerry rig some cardboard to hit that switch to trick the heater into turning on. So far it works great, I bought mine as used/refurbished from the manufacturer. I haven't had much reason to use it so far, but swapped it out with a larger heater i had been using in my bathroom, this should be perfect for the size of the room.
Would be five stars if it didn't keep on breaking
December 21, 2013
This will be my third purchase of this heater (first two times at a store, third, on here). Maybe it seems crazy to keep on buying something that breaks but I haven't found another heater that I like as much (but please feel free to make any recommendations!)
What I like:
It really is a personal heater. I am often cold so I alternate setting it at my feet or on the desk (or if I'm on the couch, I just set it on the couch next to me). I run it almost the entire day but it doesn't seem to affect my electricity bill noticeably. I also like that it has two heat settings and a fan setting. The unit itself doesn't get hot (except for the front, obviously) and it's light-weight. It has a good sound--not too loud but comforting heater sound. Nice shape and easy to pick up with the handle. There used to be different colors available but I've only been able to find black now so that's a shame.
Here's the info on breaking (this has happened to the two that I have used so far):
After a couple of months, the on and off switch starts to feel like it's getting harder to switch. A month or so later, you won't be able to press the switch at all! The first one was stuck in the off position and wouldn't budge! I finally forced it with a tool but it physically broke on the inside. The second one got stuck in the on position so now I just tip the heater on its side when I want to turn it off (safety feature) and unplug it before bed. But that's annoying and it worries me that it could be a fire-hazard so I decided to by yet again, another heater.
This to me sounds like a design flaw since it's happened to me 100% of the time. I'm not rough with the heaters either.

Not very powerful. Use it for my wife's closet that is above the garage. It is not able to heat the closet.
Cheap price, cheap product

Heats the room
The fans is super loud
The air blows at the ground
The temperature control goes from 65 down to 40 (nothing in between)
It's just ok, nothing to rave about. No on indicator. Fan is a tad on the slow side.
December 14, 2016
The red light indicates it is plugged in, not that it is on, so a bit deceiving. In fact, there is nothing to tell you its on except the fan is going, but since it goes off when you reach the set temperature - not much help there. How hard would it been to come up with a second light to indicate it was on? Fan is a bit on the slow side, but I don't see that as an issue, just an observation. Price was ok, but not a bargain when you consider what you get.

May 19, 2016
I out this heater in a small music studio space I built in my garage. It kept the toasty, for sure, maybe a bit too toasty. Really, it's not made to be the main heat source in a small space even though it could be. Overall, though, it served its purpose. I think next winter I may invest in a more advanced system, but I'll certainly hang on to this for chilly mornings in the house, which is what it's intended for.
The goods and and bads about this little heater
January 17, 2017
I've had this heater for exactly 2 years. Was happy with it, until now; it's started to make a loud noise, the fan hitting the inside of the case or another internal part. I tried taking the heater apart, but am prevented by their use of a type of screw head I've never seen before and never seen a screw driver designed for it. Regarding the 3 year warantee, the manufacturer requires you pay for the shipping to their service center, and of course there is no guarantee they'll honor the warantee.
I use this heater on the low setting to heat my legs when sitting at my desk or watching TV. It only uses 375 watts a the low setting, most unusual. It's quieter than most electric fan heaters, another plus. On the minus side, when in use, it gave off a fairly strong plastic smell for the first year +, definitely a negative.
September 12, 2016
I have had my Vornado desk heater for 1 year now. I run it every work day because I find my office freezing and my hands are constantly cold. It has done very well for a long time. It heats a very small area, so it needs to be close to me to work and I find that the side of my body not directly next to it still gets chilly. Recently, it has been very difficult to start up. It will make a loud sound like a helicopter starting, but it will dissipate in a couple of minutes and go back to it’s normal, barely-there sound. Even more recently, when I turn the on-switch, it makes a small hum and doesn’t actually start. If I smack it around some, I can usually get it to start, and then the loud helicopter noise again. I think I will try a different heater next time.
Stopped working as consistently after ~1 year of usage, b
February 2, 2016
It worked very well for about 1 year, but now it doesn't stay on more than 20 minutes without clicking itself off, even on the lowest heat setting. However for the price, and the efficiency it had when I used it, I feel that I got more than my money's worth.
If you're trying to find a quality heater you want to pull out every winter and for winters to come, go a little higher quality than this. However if you are just trying to get through a winter, you're in college and need to heat up a dorm or your apartment is cold and you need a little booster, this guy will be your hero
Not a Good Choice for a Personal Space Heater
February 7, 2014
Vornado makes very good fans and this heater is no exception. The problem is that the fan makes the heater feel cool even though it is heating the room. Think about riding in a convertible on a hot summer afternoon. It's hot outside and yet the breeze feels cool as you drive along at highway speed. The same applies with this heater.
I used it last night in my bedroom in conjunction with the Lasko 200 watt My Heat, which is a very good heater if used within a foot or two of your. It feels like real heat, just like a 1500 watt heater, only with less air flow. I have used it every night for a few weeks and it will keep my bedroom at the same temp. It won't heat the room, but it will maintain the current temp.
So I set the Vornado on low (350 watts) alongside the 200 watt Lasko and the Lasko felt warm while the Vornado did not. I left them both running all night and the room went from 61 degrees to 68 degrees by morning, rather than the 61 degrees with only the Lasko My Heat running. The room temp went up significantly, but the Vornado still felt cool when standing near it.
This heater would be good as a small room heater if it was not blowing directly on you, but it fails as a personal space heater. The space will get warmer, but it won't feel that way to you.
Not as hot as I expected
March 15, 2011
From the reviews, I was expecting this thing to be awesome. Granted, I do get colder than most people - I am ALWAYS freezing. This really only points heat into a very small area, making it more of a foot warmer than a "space" heater because it doesn't really heat up a "space". I was originally going to purchase the entire room heater, but figured I should only need a space heater at work... but this really isn't doing the job so I will be saving up money for the room version and see if that works better. I did notice the burning smell that some of the other reviewers mentioned, but this really only happened the very first time I turned it on... so I'm not going to list that as a negative... my coworkers haven't said anything about a burning smell either.
If you just want toasty feet, this is very good for that... my feet are darn toasty. It's very quiet and doesn't seem to use much energy at all... my coworkers haven't even noticed that I'm using it. I was worried about blowing out a circuit at work, but that hasn't happened. I like the function where if you tip it, it turns off. I know some reviewers said they found this annoying, but I don't know why they're kicking it around so much... it never turns off unless you kick it.

Will get the area warm but could have better settings
June 16, 2017
These heater work really well, they get things heated up very fast. BUT they basically only have one heat level, even though they have adjustable temperatures they don't adjust very well. When initially powered on. I believe they automatically start at 78, at this temperature they seem to stay on almost constantly. When turned down, even 1 or 2 degrees the heater constantly turn off and then back on, as if the temperature of the room is matching the desired set temperature on the heater, only it powers off and then back off within about 30 seconds continuously. Very annoying. I had to either choose to sleep with it basically running constantly or turn it off completely as the constant power cycling was not easy to fall asleep to. The only reason these didn't get a 1 is that fact that they do push out some heat and either way when we were in our camper this winter they were nice to have.
A Hazard in my house in the first time using it
November 13, 2015
I took my heater straight out of the box and plugged it in and it immediately started to burn making a black smoke smelling like rubber and it tripped my electrical outlet (which it should) and caused all of my fire alarm sensors to go off due to the black smoke. I had to run outside and get this heater as far away from my house to prevent it from causing a fire or worse. I will never get a heater like this after seeing how quickly this happened to me. If you choose to buy one please be careful

March 26, 2015
Thermostat is useless! I gave it 1 extra star because it blows hot air & is decently quiet. Thermostat doesn't work whatsoever. Have a thermometer in the room & even with the heater set at frost warning (40 degrees) it kicks on and off and runs constantly. It keeps the room at 77 degrees!! What a joke. Good heater if you want to manually control it.
March 18, 2015
Worked for a while then began smelling a fishy smell. I couldn't figure out where it was coming from then finally I figured out every time I turned it on I started smelling this disgusting fish-like smell that took me forever to get rid of! I googled if that can happen with certain space heaters and I'm not the only one who has experienced this. I'm hoping there is a warranty otherwise it's going in the garbage and I'll purchase a different one.
Almost great, poorly made
December 18, 2012
This seemed like a great by - reduce energy use, put out some heat, and cool to the touch, as it was going in my 2 yr old's room. First unit arrived, worked great! Heated room, cool to touch, and didn't need to run constantly. After about a week of very limited use - it stopped working. Seemed to be a control malfunction, would display, but not turn on. OK, defective unit. Sent it back, got the replacement quickly. Worked great - FOR ONE DAY! It now powers on, puts out a weird spark on the coil, heats for 4 seconds then clunks out. Doesn't seem safe and doesn't work. Either they have terrible quality control or something is wrong with their design, because I can't believe a company could put out a product that fails this miserably. Fool me once... It's getting returned now, off to look for something similar that works (kind of the baseline requirement).
Does not have good longevity
March 15, 2017
Purchased Feb 2015, worked great that winter under my work desk, unplugged and put back in box early spring of 2016. October 2016 I took it back out and plugged in, worked for less than a week then the fan stopped running. I realize this is a cheap unit, but I was expecting more than a few months use out of it.....
Great small heater for 2 months then developed a rattle
January 10, 2017
Original review (see update below): I specifically bought this heater because of its lower wattage (750W) as I found all higher wattage heater too hot. When I initially tried it out it seemed a bit under-powered but then decided it did actually make for a great personal space heater. It is not suited for even small rooms but is great to keep your feet/legs warm under a table or other very small space . To warm up your feet/legs when chilled the higher setting works pretty well but is definitely much weaker than a standard heater. Where the unit really shines is at the lower setting which provides a gentle, warm air stream that never ends up feeling too warm. So no more turning a heater on and off and alternating between too cold and then too hot. My only complaint is that when I first turned on the unit there was an acrid, burning plastic smell that went away after a while but stunk up my room a bit and gave me a bit of a headache The factory should run these units before shipping to burn off that residue.
Update - 2 months after purchase
Was great for 2 months. Then developed a rattle - sounds like the fan blade is hitting something. Return window closed after 1 month! Can't recommend this because it developed a defect so soon after purchase.
and am horrible about returning items
September 22, 2016
I was extremely excited for this to arrive, and purchased it just before the holidays last year. I bought this for under my desk at work, as it is always an ice box in my office. I haven't had this a full year yet. I used it maybe once or twice, and it started making a knocking noise. I tried to re-position the unit, thinking it was off-balance. No change. Turn it off. Turn it back on later...maybe it's finicky. On and off, on and off. Still making a noise. For the most part, I gave up on this thing a long time ago, and am horrible about returning items. I only attempt to use it when it is so sufficiently frigid in my office that my teeth are chattering and I can no longer concentrate.
Today was the day. That it just decided to die. Burning motor smell. Grinding to a complete stop. For $30, not so much love lost. But for $30, I should have at least gotten a full year's worth out of this thing. Not a semi-functional, loudly clanging, embarrasing unit that I can't even use for the purpose in which it was intended.
I am moving on to another unit. I don't know which one...but I need something that works, without causing a fuss, and that doesn't burn up.
February 24, 2015
The product works fine, when it works. First unit failed within the first 7 days - the switch on the bottom of the unit, which detects if the unit is tipped over, stopped working, and the unit stopped turning on. So we sent the first unit back to Amazon, and got another unit in return. Within a month, the fan started making loud noises when first turning on. After a week or so, the fan stopped turning on at all. Now, the fan will only turn on intermittently, usually after some persuading (i.e. banging the top of the unit with a hand). I don't expect a space heater to last for years, but this poor reliability is unacceptable.

Lousy F'n heater. Poor excuse for any type of appliance. Thermostat sucks. Noisy, then it died completely after 4.5 months just being used to heat the bathroom when I take a shower. Since I only bath once a year, that's pretty bad. Seriously it sucks.
Good while it worked. Stopped working after 14 weeks.
March 19, 2017
Basically a nice little heater that would shut itself off when it hit my desired temperature. But, after 14 weeks of use (generally overnight on the thermostat setting), it stopped heating. Woke up one morning to this little heater blowing cold air. It was cheap, so... you get what you pay for, I guess.

March 11, 2017
This was a supposedly reconditioned item. I used it with an extension cord over the winter, & it worked well. But at the end of the cold weather, I couldn't unplug it. I tried to pry it loose from the extension cord with the leverage of a screwdriver. But it would come apart.
I'm taking both the heater & the extension cord to Goodwill, as I don't trust either anymore. Don't trust Amazon's reconditioned items. You'll be sorry if you do.
but was pretty inconsistent on the thermostat setting
February 7, 2016
Had this a couple of months. Was just watching TV on a Sunday with the heater set on the thermostat setting. Long story short, when it cut on, a huge flame and lots of sparks shoot out of the back, nearly catching a blanket on fire and who knows what else. It worked ok before this, but was pretty inconsistent on the thermostat setting. Letting it vary by over 7 degrees in the room before turning back on.

The digital "Temperature Control" setting is why i bought this unit, but within 24 hours of first use it was clear this unit is unreliable.
I'm only trying to heat a small room, but it reached 93 when set to 70. That is beyond any reasonable margin of error.
I will be returning this item.
Do not buy. Cheap Vornado product
March 13, 2017
I bought assuming this would be a good product given it's a Vornado. I've had other products and have been happy with them. This is a cheap product. Had an awful odor when you turned it on. Provides little to no heat - even on the high setting. It could be a faulty product. Should have trusted the other reviews. I will be returning this product.
Didn't make the cut.

Had to return it as it started to smoke and smell after a few weeks of use. The buttons also stopped working. It was returned.

Overall, kind of disappointed since my other Vornado heater is so great. This one, the low setting is not adequate for anything. Mine ratters fairly consistently and I can't figure out how to make it stop. Too bad I threw away the packaging already, because otherwise it would be going back.Update: DO NOT BUY THIS THING. It has a faulty design where the blade comes loose and will turn your heater into a noise maker. BTW, I am on my second one and both have this issue. Note that I would still trust Vornado as a brand in that the two other heaters I have are awesome. Just don't buy this one!
Personal Use Only- Can't Feel the Heat If Over 2 Feet Away.POOR QUALITY
October 13, 2015
As states in the title, this is for personal use, meaning it should be about 1-2 feet away from you for any impact at all. It cannot heat a room. It's currently under my desk at work and on the higher setting. If I move about three feet away from it, I cannot feel any heat. I do feel the breeze of the fan, but it's cool air at that point and the air is no longer warm. For this cost, I would have expected it to be able to perform better. It is very quiet, if that's a feature you're looking for.UPDATED AFTER A YEAR: Heater makes a clicking noise and smells like burnt plastic. FIND A BETTER PRODUCT

I am on my third one and now it has gone bad. First one worked great for a few months and then stopped working altogether. Contacted Vornado customer service and they sent me a new one. The replacement did not work properly as the blades rubbed against the body of the heater. I contacted customer service and they sent a replacement. This one worked for a few weeks and then the blades started to rub against the body of the heater and often stopping turning altogether. I can squeeze the sides of the heater and the blades will start turning and occasionally they will stop rubbing. I will be buying a different brand. Terrible product but good customer service.

I purchased this thinking it would be a bit higher quality than other similar heaters since it's a premium brand and slightly premium price. It's significantly lower quality than any other space heater I've had in the past. The cord is very stiff and "plastic" feeling, and the fan started making a grinding noise a few months. Most little heaters like this are excellent, this one is not.
