Electric Fireplace
November 17, 2016
I purchased this for my son in law and daughter and they really like it. I think it heats the small room very well where they have put it. It adds a cozy factor too. I have one in my back bedroom and it definitely adds cozy and heats up well, although it is a different brand.
Cute and functional little "woodstove"!
March 7, 2016
I ordered this little "woodstove" for a small room in the house that tends to be a bit chilly in the winter. I wanted something functional and decorative - this fits the bill perfectly!

The only negative (if it's even an issue) is the heating portion of the stove is on the bottom. This version of the Duraflame stove is very compact and the box almost touched the carpet fibers. I wasn't sure if this would be a safety hazard or not. To solve this simple problem, I added two extra tiles we had left over from a bathroom re-model underneath the stove. Not only does it protect the floor from any possible heat damage, it adds to the "feel" of a real woodstove.
I love this little electric stove
January 24, 2016
I love this little electric stove; I purchased mine on Warehouse deals, had some Amazon credit card points so this stove cost me little. The stove puts out a great deal of heat and a 30 by 10 foot room is easily heated. Love the pretty glow of the artificial flame and log--it adds such a nice touch, especially on cold snowy days! Highly recommend!
Much better than expected!
October 4, 2014
I bought this little stove for extra heat in my bedroom this winter, since I live in a historical cottage in the Tennessee mountains. But my main heater isn't online yet, and this morning its 47 degrees out. This is definitely taking the chill out of the air in my large, high ceilinged living room! Its small enough to fit anywhere, is easily portable from room to room, and is working really well. The "fireplace" lights are hysterically tacky, but they are growing on me. It has a blower at the base that makes minimal noise, came completely assembled, and after about the first 10 minutes, the new heater odor is completely gone. They had this model at my local Lowes for 99.00, but with shipping and everything, I got this model at Amazon for 84.00. It is well worth the price.
A warm and friendly little stove
December 14, 2011
This is the sweetest little stove that you could ever want! It is all that it says and the "show" is great! It really is very impressive.
The quality of the workmanship is good. It heats up a room 10x15 in about 15 minutes, at which point you can turn the heat down to almost
nothing or turn it off and just leave the "flames burning". I do like the fact that it does heat quickly, it saves a lot of money in the
long run because you can turn it down or off. The odor that many spoke of when you first turn it on is minimal and burns off quickly, by the second use, there was none at all. There is a big notice on the box that there will be a slight smell when first turned on, so the manufacturer is up front about it. I can really recommend this product for the ambiance that it gives to a room and for its quick heat up of a room. I actually used this for a Christmas party, the room was chilly, I heated the room and by the time my guests did arrive, everyone commented about the adorable little stove! Since I live in an NYC apartment and have no access to a fireplace, this really does
make the place warm and friendly. A great buy at a really great price. I have seen other such products at much more and not halfway as nice.

Great little heater for my apartment bathroom
January 22, 2017
The ideal size for my small bathroom. I've been an exclusive user of oil-filled heaters for the past 15 years. They're economical and efficient. Once they are warmed up, the air around them is extremely comfortable. This is the smallest one I'd ever seen and had to try it. It works great and can even overheat the bathroom if the user doesn't understand how this type of heater works. The settings allows it to adjust the temperature perfectly. It takes up barely any space, as it's so thin, which is exactly what I needed.
Good Product but Waaay Overpriced
November 18, 2016
Very neat little heater for small areas, I put this one by my dog's sleeping area and he's very thankful I did. It is, however, very overpriced for what it is.
Silent
November 16, 2016
Just switched to this after purchasing several ceramic fan heaters in a row, each of which lasted about 6 months. Not sure about the durability of this product yet, but amazed by the difference in noise level. This is absolutely silent, it fits under my desk and works great.
Nice compact quiet heater.
October 25, 2016
Heats up, and keeps warm a 10x10 room nicely. Compact and light weight also. Got another. One for the cat room also, which is a slightly bigger room, and doesn't seem to have problems keeping it at about 68degrees.
The Perfect 'Under Desk' Heater
September 6, 2016
This is the perfect 'under desk' heater! It gives out even heat unlike the fan ones. It also has no smell! I wish I bought this years ago. It is slim, silent, and just perfect. I was always cold in the office, especially during the summer when the A/C was on full blast. Now I am nice and comfy, not too warm and not too cold, but juuuuust right.
Works great!
January 7, 2016
Use this at the office in New Hampshire. Keeps the chill off that comes in through the poorly insulated windows behind me. I have it sitting on a large bay-window shelf and it sends warm air out so my back, neck and shoulders stay warm. There is no fan or blower, this is radiant heat from the heated oil inside the unit. It makes no noise. It is a thin unit, only a 1.5 inches thick.NOTE: There is a caution notice on the unit: "High Temperature; keep electrical cords, drapery and other furnishings at least 3 feet from the front of the heater and way from the side and rear."

The imitation flame is a nice touch. It is very small
December 25, 2016
This was a breeze to set up...just take it out of the box and plug it in. I thought I'd at least have to install the feet, but they were already in place. I plugged it in and it fired right up and put off immediate heat. I only had to leave it one for about 20 minutes to heat up my family room, which is downstairs and it is always cold. The imitation flame is a nice touch. It is very small, but the measurements were clearly defined so I wasn't taken off guard. I've only used it once, but so far, so good. I will update if I have any issues.

March 1, 2016
Has that element of faux/fake to it, but still looks okay and has a whimsical element to it. I got it for the basement. I'd probably go for something a bit higher in quality for living area/bedroom, but if this blends in with existing furnishings, would be just fine. It's easy to move around and gives a warm cozy feel when running that you can't get from a regular heater. It's when its turned off that you can see the still image of the fire that it feels more fake.

January 23, 2016
We are happy with the Duraflame Electric Stove overall and would recommend it to others. We've only purchased it since the 2015 winter season but it's holding up nicely with no issues.

The good:
1) It heats up quickly (best for a small/medium area) - not a substitute to heat your entire house
2) Despite the outside being plastic, the body doesn't get hot or overheated, so you can quickly move it to another area of the house if needed
3) It's really cute versus other tower heater options

Features to improve:
1) No timer, so it runs until you stop it
2) It's a little bit loud, but definitely not overly so - just makes a whirring sound as others have mentioned
Adorable Little Heater
May 12, 2015
This heater is so adorable. I live in a single wide mobile home so of course I have very little square footage. The heater/ac unit didn't work to well in heating up the rooms. So I bought this back in December to help out. Well it worked so well to heat 3/4's of the house that I used it instead of the heater for the rest of the winter. I really liked the fake flame look, it gives a cozy feeling. The light bulb rotates to give that flame rising look, but the back of my unit wasn't completely sealed so you can see the light coming out of the back. The one I got had a warped section on the inside by the fake wood, but that's no biggie. No one can see it with the cover closed. Still and all it worked well for me.
Needed space heating and wanted a light show.
January 17, 2014
Very pleased with this purchase. The heater has to be kept on low or my bedroom overheats quickly. The fireplace effect is nice and I enjoy the flickering lights as I go to sleep. Got one for my mother for her sunroom in the winter and she loves it.

One of my best friends also purchased this on my recommendation and she loves hers as well. She lives in a 100 year old farm house and it really goes well with the architecture of the place.

Complaints: With this latest model you have to have the lights on to run the heater and the lights are NOT adjustable as with earlier models. Can be a little noisy, but not too bad. And yes, it is made with too much plastic. It would be sturdier with a slightly thicker material.

This small unit does a great job in the small room
March 5, 2017
We use this heater to keep our RV bedroom warm on winter nights. This small unit does a great job in the small room. The feet are plastic and loosen up a little after use, causing the unit to wobble a bit (making a slight clicking noise) with RV movement. We wedge something under one foot to eliminate the wobble.
Works great in my small bathroom
February 20, 2017
This heater was perfect for one of my small bathrooms that gets a little cold in the winter. It's thin and easy to fit into the small bathroom and yet be out of the way. Being a radiant oil filled heater it takes a good while to heat up, but my intent was to raise the temperature throughout the day so it stays on and keeps the room comfortable.

December 8, 2016
Warms up a small/medium room well. Caution use this around adult only gets very hot to the touch. Makes cracking noise for the first 10 minutes and vice versa. Silent when on for a longer period. I recommend getting a timer for the time you need it on/off. Room stays warm even hours of being turned off.
... a heater that wasn't 1500 watt that would work good in my green house in the basement
December 21, 2015
Was looking for a heater that wasn't 1500 watt that would work good in my green house in the basement. Keeps a decent temperature in the green house (65 degrees on average). Basement has been around 50-55 degrees. We will see how long it lasts. My concern is that the plastics (feet and control panel) seem a bit flimsy. I guess as long as I don't kick it or tip it I will not break it. Of this is in a high traffic area I would be concerned.
So far so good
November 2, 2015
I purchased this to provide some warmth for my feet and legs when I'm sitting at my desk in the winter. My desk is in the middle of the room, and I have the heater sitting a couple of inches from the back of my desk. Does take the chill out of the air - it seems to help more when I turn it on about an hour before I start working. The unit itself gets very hot, but the desk itself doesn't absorb the heat - which I think is good. It definitely helps to provide some warmth - will be playing with placement as the weather gets even colder. I love the size and portability of the heater, and am glad to have some added heat without hot air blowing in the room and in my face, as I have had in the past.
Radiant Salesman
February 6, 2015
This year one of the office salesmen brought in a 1500 watt heater and put it under his desk claiming his legs and feet are cold. I looked at his idea of a solution and all I saw was a ball warmer. I picked this up and replaced it under his desk before he came to work. He has been using it nonstop and there are no complaints. At least now he is warming his legs and feet.

Much louder than expected
March 5, 2017
Noisy little heater. With just the flames, it makes a rhythmic racket like a distant woodpecker. When you turn on the heater, it sounds like a vacuum. Much louder than expected. But it puts out some heat.
Mine sucked. My friend's is perfect.
April 8, 2016
I purchased this heater after admiring my close friend's heater for several months. It always worked extremely well and was adorable. After using it a month as recommended by the manufacturer's instructions, the flame stopped working. I sucked it up knowing it's still nice and it heats my room. However today, just 2 months, it doesn't work at all except to light up (without the animated flame visuals of course).

That being said, my friend has had hers well over a year and it is working perfectly. I'm repurchased as I'm sure it's a one off situation.

This keeps popping my circuit breakers. Need to do further research to figure out what the problem is. Didn't notice any odor and the fan doesn't bother me. The "flame effect is a little cheesy, but hey my dog likes to sleep in front of it.
Nice little heater, but electric heat is expensive.
December 15, 2014
Nice for heating small areas. The look creates a bit of a cozy feeling. Be aware, however; this is an electric heater. It will increase your electric bill considerably if used much. I watched my meter dial spin around the moment I turned it on. The concept of decreasing your home heating costs by using this where you spend most of your time is only true if you heat your home with electric. If you have a gas furnace, you're probably better to leave it on and have the whole house heated for probably the same cost. Because it's electric heat, it's also drying to the air. I use it only when bitter cold, and then turn it off as soon as I'm able. For what it's supposed to do, it's fine. Just realize electric heat is very expensive.
All plastic case - looks good in a dark room
December 13, 2013
As soon as I opened the package I noted one of the plastic legs broken. Next, the door was off its hinge and I was unable to pop it back in. The unit looks attractive in the picture, however in real life it leaves you wanting for better quality. I am not sure how long the units life expectancy is, but it does put out a fair amount of heat. Nothing too strong, but enough to warm a small to medium size room. The actual blower sits very close to the floor, so I would not recommend to people with thick carpets just in case of emergency. The bottom is not hot to the touch so It would be safe enough.

All in all its a decent little unit, but I would probably go with an Infrared Heater that uses less wattage and covers a greater area and one that has a more sturdy exterior. Also the price dropped immediately after purchasing the item. Amazon agreed to refund me the price difference. :)

This works fine and I love it's size and compactness
April 4, 2016
This works fine and I love it's size and compactness. However, as other reviewers mentioned. This doesn't get smokin' hot. I keep it in my bedroom which is about 10x10 feet and it stays warm--but doesn't get super toasty with the door closed when it's really cold out. I have also used it under my desk which works well--keep feet warm. I wish someone made one slightly bigger and a bit warmer. It's also handy to dry things on--quickly--but wouldn't leave fabric on it unsupervised. It's hot to the touch.
Faulty had to return. (would of liked a simple exchange)
December 5, 2015
The space heater i recived was faulty .The caution light did not work, also something was lose in the electrics . It was not new, had finger prints all over it, plus you could tell that it had been opened and used before.I would of liked a simple exchange for one that was not faulty, but was not given that option. if i had If small children i would not buy this heater, i feel it could burn a small child. I was ok trying this heater on hardwood floors, but not sure how safe it would be on carpet. shame it was faulty, i would of liked to have kept it.
Cheap to run, but very limited utility
January 7, 2015
It's disappointing (and not only because it took Amazon three months to ship the unit), but it is still worth considering if you have a very specific need. It's only 400 watts, but that would be enough power to heat a small space if a reasonable amount of iron-rich metal were used in the body to retain and radiate heat. Instead, the body is constructed with paper-thin pot-metal panels. There's small amount of oil inside the unit that helps, but all told the thermal properties are poor. You can expect to heat about three cubic feet, and not much more. All that said, no one has produced a high-quality, cast-iron, low-wattage electric heater since the French stopped making them in 1960s, so you do not have much choice. Leaving a 1600-watt space heater on indefinitely will cost you at least $175 a month in electricity. This will cost you more like $45 -- like using ten 40-watt incandescent bulbs. It will gently heat the space under your desk. It can also warm a small bathroom, provided it is insulated and you leave the heater on continuously.
Becareful ...
January 7, 2012
I bought this heater over a year ago for under my desk. It did a great job, but the little feet shattered after a couple of months. I ordered 2 more sets. This fall I started using it again. The feet shattered again, I should have taken note. But I really like this heater. Keeps my legs toasty in this old drafty house while I work. Two days ago, I noticed the housing for the electronics was open and I could see all the wiring. Under the heater was a bunch on pieces of plastic. The casing for the bolts holding the shell together had shattered. The heater was very hot and I just was lucky to have noticed. I keep this heater on a timer, so it is only on while I am working. I was almost tempted to get another one, but decided that the fire risk was too high. What if I had not noticed the open shell? I wonder how others are holding up?
GOOD
November 28, 2011
I was hoping this heater would work for under a desk in our garage and we are in the mtns. It doesn't but inside the house under my desk it works fantastic. I just put it in my bathroom 12 x 15'ish since we don't have a heater in there and on the med setting it works great and was surprised. Very much a worth while purchase.
Nice and quiet, with caveats
December 31, 2010
We use these under our desks and they do a good job of warming without any noise. These units do get hot (about 250°F) so you need enough room that your toes won't touch the heater accidentally--ouch! The switch is fairly easy to operate with your toe and glows orange when it's on. But it's all too easy to forget to turn the heater off so it wastes energy. If they were smart, the heater would have a motion detector so it would turn off when you leave the desk. Only other complaint is the legs are too narrow so the heater is less stable than it should be. Still it does the job and it's nicer than a radiant heater with a fan for localized heating.Update 11/12:One of the plastic feet cracked in half. Fortunately, I contacted NewAir and they sent me to a web site where I could buy a replacement for $3.95. Still think the feet should be longer for greater stability, and more durable, but at least customer service was good.

This is a great heater and the display is very nice
December 28, 2016
This is a great heater and the display is very nice. However, the dial control is basically worthless. Yes, it turns the heat on and off... whenever it wants no matter the ambient temperature. On a nice day, it will randomly turn itself on at 75 and on chilly days it will cut off at 62. I got it to use it as a wood stove back up but it requires manual operation too.

Two months of use, display is inoperable.
Terribble!!!
January 6, 2016
It was great in the beginning, for the first week maybe two. Then all the sudden I have it cranked up and doesn't put out any heat. I could put my hand directly on the bottom and it just keeps my hands warm. I have a 20 square foot room and it doesn't heat for crap!!!!

July 29, 2015
It's cute but I didn't find it functional at all. I had to sit really close to feel the heat. The air only blew from the bottom, so it only warmed mostly your feet. Sometimes the air coming out wasn't warm at all. And I received a high electric bill afterwards. Had to return it.
Pretty, But Not Much Warmth
December 5, 2014
So far this stove is a bit of a bummer. I like that it's small and lightweight. Also, for an electric it's pretty quiet (it hums on high but not loudly like some fan/ceramic heaters). However, it doesn't actually seem to heat up the space. I'm using it in a reception room that's pretty small, maybe ~250sq ft. It's rated for 400sq ft. Yet, on high it barely takes the chill out of the room. It seems to only produce heat under the unit, so a good amount of the heat is absorbed by the unit itself (which remains cool to the touch). I can slide my feet underneath and it makes a good foot warmer, but not for the whole room. The fireplace effect is pretty, despite it being obviously fake, but with the price-point I really don't care that it doesn't look fancy. I have a feeling I'll be having to replace this guy since I'm running it continuously on high and my clients are still describing the reception area as chilly.
So upsetting!
March 11, 2014
Bought this during fall (November 2013) thought it would make a great addition to our bedroom so we don't have to heat the entire house (since it's just the two of us and the furkids)- It did, for 3 months...THREE MONTHS!!!!!!! The screen portion with the flame still works but the heater...Nope. Won't turn on. I'm writing a very strongly worded letter to the company and Amazon! Paid decent money for this heater to just stop working after a few months. 5 Stars for 3 months.

Um, don't bother with this one.
October 6, 2017
Unless you're sitting a foot away from this thing, in which case you'll probably knock it over, don't spend the money on this heater. It gets hot, but the heat doesn't go anywhere. I've been trying low-watt heaters because my apartment is freezing and it's all too easy to trip the breakers, which I don't have access to reset. So this one's a dud, but I'll keep it because I can put it on medium and hang my clothes over it for 1/2 hour before dressing so I have toasty clothes to put on. A bit expensive for that purpose, but sending it back is too much trouble.
Good for a few months of runtime.
December 30, 2016
Lasted 1 calendar year with no use from April through October. Thought it was a great little heater for that year but now it has leaked it's contents (oil) on to the rug. So I'm out $58 on this heater, ruined a rug, and possibly a pair of pants. Disappointing in the long run.

June 24, 2015
Worked great for three years and six months, then...design FAIL! The control panel split open while operating but sitting completely still. The unit is essentially two halves joined with plastic fittings held together with screws in the top right corner where the lifting ring is. Well, the plastic is very cheap and can't take the heat! This could be a safety hazard. Hopefully NewAir will address this in a future model, but STAY AWAY for safety/product quality reasons. I contacted NewAir by Facebook, but my post was not...posted.

Product arrived late with a damaged door hinge (it was popped out of the hole). Due to the way the hole and post are designed and molded, there's no way to pop it back into place without significant screwdriver work, which I'm not comfortable doing on a space heater.
