I own two, an 8 year old model and a new one.
January 1, 2017
I bought my first Lasko low profile room heater 8 years ago for my 10'X18' office. My company does not heat the offices overnight, or on weekends, so when we get in, in the morning, the temp in my office has been as low as 40F. It's extremely quiet, heats up the room quickly, and has operated flawlessly. We recently purchased a large Victorian home where we found the master bedroom had no heat vent. The temperature in the room 15'X20' on a cold winters evening would drop to 51F. I brought home my older Lasko one weekend to see how it worked in our bedroom, and in minutes the room temperature went from 56F to the 67F I had it set for. I've read other reviews on here complaining about a humming noise on the new units, but our new model 5624 makes no noise. I love that I can set the timer to automatically shut off the units in case I forget too. I highly recommend this product.
My favorite room heater so far
April 2, 2016
I purchased a use unit and it was plagued with that annoying turn off problem. Then I bought a new unit (even got the insurance thing for it) and it has worked great. It heats up the room without any noise, never turns off like the old unit, and just works. What more can I say. It's a bit big which is good and bad. Good because it heats up a room faster (without a loud fan) but bad because it does take up a little bit of space. I'd say save the box for a few weeks in case you got a dud but if you get one new I would guess you'll be fine.
Great Heater!
December 13, 2015
This heater is awesome -- I bought one to heat two rooms of my apartment in an incredibly heat-inefficient building (built in the late 18th century, heating this place is terrible all around). My parents have the same heater, and transfer it from room to room to heat their house all day, in lieu of using gas. It works great for them, which is why I decided to just go with this heater, rather than doing a whole lot of shopping around. Despite our building's refusal to at least try to keep heat in, this thing puts out some heat and keeps the room warm once it gets there. It's nearly silent, and the only time I have ever heard it is early morning when there's not another sound to be heard, and even then it's just the lightest little electric buzz, which you should expect with any electric item using so much wattage. It's easy to use and understand, as well as light and easy to move around, and suits our needs perfectly. I would definitely reccomend!
Best Space Heater I have Used Yet!
June 10, 2015
Overall:Highly RecommendPros:-quiet-easy to use-solid construction-puts out a good amount of heat-auto turn on and offCons:-metal grate gets pretty hot-large footprintI love this heater. I rent a small studio cottage and let's just say the insulation isn't the greatest. I have tried a handful of other space heaters before and this one is hands down the best I have tried. It puts out a good amount of heat and can warm-up a 400sq foot room pretty fast.Other things: I really dislike white noise, but this heater is so quiet I barely notice it. The auto on/off switch is really nice. Only slightly negative thing to say about this heater is that it takes up a good amount of floor space. Also, be cautious that the metal grate gets pretty hot so make sure to not have the heater next to anything.
Awesome Heater!

Great heater! Definitely worth the price. This little baby heats up a room like no other. It's fast, and relatively quiet - only time I'm really aware it's on is the slight clicking when it turns on or off. I like to keep my apartment hot so this has been a life-saver when it comes to drafty rooms (have even brought it into the office with me on several occasions). Also really love the automatic shut off timer so I don't overheat in the middle of the night (I typically set the temperature then set it to shut off in an hour so that my room is warm while I'm falling asleep but doesn't turn into an oven). I used to own the same heater in white - this blends in much better so not much of an eye sore. I also like that it's low to the ground so I can easily store it under the bed when guests come over.
So cool, so hot, so awesome!

I live in a cozy condo in Silicon Valley, however, it is not new/renovated since it was built in the 60s and has poor insulation. During the winter, it dropped to 32 degrees outside, but it felt colder inside our living room. Enough about creating a backstory.Overall, this heater saved my life. I would set the temperature to 68 degrees in my bedroom, and in less than an hour, my entire room felt like a perfect day in my hometown of San Diego. It definitely doesn't take up any space. Just set it right next to the wall, away from any curtains.Other reviews said they noticed a smell. I think that's natural as you are heating up metal, but the smell doesn't stay constant. I do not know what temperature they set theirs on, but mines never above 70 degrees and their is hardly any odor coming from the heater. I also don't think it's noisy at all, like those heaters that blow hot air. Remember, this heater uses convection. If you set it to your desired temperature, it automatically turns on when there's a huge drop in degrees in the room, which is great because no one wants to get up in the every time it gets colder in the room. I really enjoy the timer feature as well. Just like the Ronco rotisserie, just set it... and forget it! This heater is definitely not for large rooms, but only to supplement your central heating, if you have it (unfortunately, my roomies and I do not have such a luxury).Enjoy sleeping warm and happy, and say goodbye to seeing your own breath indoors.

Does the Job!

Got this for my elderly aunt for her kitchen. This works perfectly and heats the room nicely. Easy to use controls for her and looks like it will last a while.
This was PERFECT. There was no noise just warm wonderful heat
March 8, 2016
We were looking for an electric heater for our 19' travel trailer. We were camping past normally warm days and nights and did not want to use our noisy propane heater. This was PERFECT. There was no noise just warm wonderful heat. We were very comfortable at night with this heater on low. The base is such that there are no worries about it tipping over. Our cat who accompanies us on our trips was not fearful of it at all and came to enjoy the delightful heat emanating from this wonderful appliance.
... space heater I've ever used and my apartment is like a CAVE
October 23, 2015
Beats any other space heater I've ever used and my apartment is like a CAVE! It's efficient, a decent size for an apartment and it keeps us warm! So far no issues. Best portable heater I ever used. Do NOT place it near the wall. It needs 3 feet of breathing room for safety's sake. They stick by their warranty. I had to replace the first one due to a defect, but I just cut the cord close to the unit and sent it to them as they instructed and got a brand new unit replacement no problem at all from Lasko. Wonderful customer service.
Quick Heat, Silent and priced well for it's performance
March 11, 2015
After hours of research to warm open basement space 800 sq ft, 2 of these performed beyond expectations. With the northeast reaching record low temperature this Winter, 2 of these units warms the entire space to a comfortable 70 degrees after 60 - 75mins. Timer shutoff increments of 1 - 8 hours helped tremendously in middle of night but as safety measure we paired it with Beklin Power Conserve Switch F7c016q to shut the power when not in use to avoid vampire power and outlet wear/tear from plug/unplug.

Posting this review after 35 days of straight use with avg. 4 - 5 hours per day. Highly recommended.

Expectations (no basement draft): on the coldest nights 0 degree with winds chills -16, cold air takes over in matter of 7 minutes once the heater is off. And yes, 1st time use will emit a nasty burnt smell (break-in) so it's highly recommended to run it for 60 mins in the garage or open space.
Quick heat output; silent
November 19, 2013
I like this heater. It produces a lot of heat (only choice is 1500W), has digital thermostat, top grid gets real hot (not for a house with children), has up to 8 hours timer (1h increment).
Heater smelled for a couple lf hours, but now smell is gone.
Heater is very long.

Produces great heat, perfect for a bedroom
June 28, 2016
Produces great heat, perfect for a bedroom. Advertised as completely silent, but it does make some noise. It is however very much quieter than anything with a fan. My one complaint is that the power button has three settings, on all the time, on with thermostat, and off. I have thought I turned it off, but came home 8 hours later to find my room 90 degrees because I just switched it to "on all the time". Would be better if it just had and on and off button, with another button for thermostat or "on all the time".
Great for Studio Apartment
April 22, 2016
I live in the mid-west, and we suffer through some of the coldest winters. I also live in a high-rise building which is particularly susceptible to cold and winds. The end result was an apartment with a furnace that ran almost constantly, and a perimeter wall of the apartment which was always cold. I placed this unit under the window in the center of that perimeter wall, and it worked great. It does seem to draw a bit of amperage, which can trip the breaker if the temp is set too high. Overall I am very pleased with how silent and efficient this heater was. The only reason I marked this down one star is because it does not include remote.

December 26, 2014
It is sort of slow to put out heat, but it heats a large family room effectively. It doesn't blow heat in any direction though so if you want a blast of hot -air coming at your face, get one of the upright fan-style heaters instead. If you want a heater that can keep your bedroom toasty overnight or to leave on in the corner of your family room while company is over, this is the one to use. Its low, quiet, and has a wide heating panel.Only drawback that I have experienced is that occasionally you'll set the digital temp gauge to, say, 75 degrees and then you'll wake up in the middle of the night and your room is at 83 degrees. In other words it'll occasionally continue to heat past the temperature you set.

November 17, 2014
the unit works great and the best part of unit is the temp it does not turn on and off like others. It works as a normal thermostat going 1 degree above its set temp then turns off for room temp. The room it is in is an open living room and dinning room concept and heats both about 700 sq-ft. now in saying (it heats) we use the heater to help maintain the heat, due to pro"pain" prices. it can heat it up but colder days it helps maintain. The down fall they say its ceramic heating element "its not!" but the element is Just as fine and works great! (so that's not a complaint) Now my complaint is that its one setting of heat and that's 1500Watts just wish it had a low setting for warmer days of winter. And the top part of the grill does get hot and that's about 220 degrees F. So not safe for kids or curtains. (I do have a little one) and he knows not to play around, but we do still take safety measures! (temp measured with nubee temp gun so measurement of grill is accurate!)
Not completely silent but otherwise works well!
December 7, 2013
Before reviewing the product, I just wanted to make other buyers aware that there are a few very similar products out there. I looked at my local Home Depot website (with the actual zip code of the physical store that's near my house) and found this exact heater, Lasko 5624 and everything. However, the store carries a Smaico brand. It looks almost exactly the same as the Lasko one here but it is not a Lasko 5624. The price is almost the same and the heater is indeed silent and does heat up my 150sq-ft room. So far, it works just as well as the Lasko 5624 that I've had. We'll see which one outlasts the other.Key differences between Lasko 5624 vs Smaico brand:- Thermostat on the Lasko goes from 39F to 90F and in increments of 1. Why as low as 39? I have no clue.- Thermostat on the Smaico goes from 60F to 80F and only goes in increments of 5.- Lasko does NOT have a remote control whereas Smaico does.- Lasko seems to output more air, therefore it does heat up the room quicker.- Smaico is COMPLETELY silent where as Lasko has a little bit of a buzz to it.I have personally never seen the Lasko actually hit 90 degree...but then again why would anyone want their room at that temperature anyhow? It pretty much comes down to Lasko having better airflow and therefore heats up a room quicker VS Smaico having the convenience of a remote AND being completely silent. The choice is up to you. Personally, I went with the Smaico for the silence and remote. My room eventually heats up to the point where I have to turn the heater off anyhow so I don't need it to heat my room 10 minutes quicker or anything. I would rather have a remote so I can turn it off while in bed at night and I would rather have a heating unit that is 100% quiet. Now for the review of the Lasko 5624:Pros:- Does indeed heat up my 150sq-ft room!- Very comfortable heat, not dry.- The enclosure does not get dangerously hot. Don't get me wrong, it IS hot but just about as hot as a hot cup of coffee. You can touch it for about 2-3 seconds and be okay. This is great since it wont damage little kids and/or pets. Sure, kids will probably cry but it's no where hot enough to do any serious damage...but definitely hot enough to teach them not to touch the unit when it's on!- There is a safety mechanism that will turn off the heater if it is tipped over.- Aside from the LED display, the heater does not produce any sort of glow.- No fans and 95% silent.- My bill went up about $18.00 last month when I have the heater on 6-7 hours a day so it's really not that bad.Cons:- If your room has a high ceiling, these will take forever to heat up the room. I would highly suggest getting one with a fan or a radiator that can direct the heat at you.Notes:- Measuring just the area of your room isn't always helpful when deciding on purchasing a heater. If you have a room with an extremely high ceiling, then it's going to take a long time to warm up, if it warms up at all. I would highly suggest a heater with a fan that can direct the warm air at you if your room has a fairly high ceiling.- These heaters work on the concept that cold air flows into the heater from the bottom, gets heated up, and then the warm air rises upward. Therefore, the higher your ceiling is, the more difficult it is for these types of heaters to heat up your room. By the time that warm air rises all the way to the top, it's probably cooled down a lot already...not to mention that even if the air doesn't cool down, it will still take a while to warm up the entire room because the overall volume of your room is larger.- It's more accurate to take the volume than it is to take just the area of your room into account. Especially with these heaters, anything ground-level: you, your feet, your pets, will be the last things to get warmed.
Great silent heater for small-medium spaces.
November 25, 2013
I live in one the mountain states at a high elevation. Winters get cold and even though natural gas is getting cheaper, it's still loads cheaper to heat a room with electricity. I had two requirements for purchasing a heater: (1) I wanted it to be silent and (2) it had to last.I've only had it a few months so far, so I might have to update it over the next few seasons. However, It surpasses the first expectation beautifully. It doesn't even produce a buzzing, electronic feedback sort of sound (and I still have good hearing as I am in my 20's). It really warms up a room within 10-20 minutes, depending on the size of the room.I would not use this in my living room since it opens up to the rest of the house. This heater works in any small-medium sized room (200-500 square feet) so long as you can shut the doors or enclose the space somehow. It hasn't worked in more open spaces; you can only feel the heat somewhere near the heater. It also doesn't have the same warming (i.e.direct heat) effect as a heater with a fan, but it does a good job of raising the temperature generally. The thermometer is on the heater so it may display a much higher temperature than is actually in the room. The controls are easy enough; there's a temperature-sense function or a timed function. Both are easy and intuitive to use. As mentioned before with the thermometer issue, it's easy enough to change the temperature to adjust the amount of heat in a room.Overall, I'd recommend this heater. It heats up the room without making any sort of sound.UPDATE: After using this heater in quieter environments, I do detect a slight buzzing sound (similar to a quiet neon sign). However, I still prefer that to the sound of a forced air heater.

March 20, 2017
I like this, and it works for us very well because our kids are big but this gets very hot on top to touch. I would not use it if you have little toddlers that could touch it or make sure it out of their reach. It heats up very well and shuts off when the temperature hits the temp that you set it at. You do have to make sure to set it to a temperature otherwise it will just keep heating continuously and get too hot. I assume it would eventually shut off but I have never tested it. I always set it to a desired temp.
When you first turn it on it is always set to continuous unless you set the temp and I think it would be nice if it were reversed.
Almost silent
December 5, 2016
I needed a silent heater for my 1yr old so throughout the night as it maintained heat it wouldn't stop or start loudly enough to wake him. I couldn't even tell this heater was on it is so quiet. My only 2 complaints are when it hits the acquired temp it shuts off with a loud click. I also had to tape cardboard over the controls because it's got a bright red light and when our son is teething these two things can be a nuisance. I would rate this a 5 star for adult or everyday use though.
Best one I've tried so far.
March 24, 2015
I got one of these from my aunt and I find it really good. It heats up the room really fast and it's really silent so I bought one for my boyfriend.

The only thing I noticed is that this one that I bought here on Amazon takes up too much power when it's on. We couldn't turn on any appliances without blowing the fuse when we're using it. So we just wait until his room gets warm so we can turn it off before we turn on the tv or computers. It only takes about 15-20 mins to get 10 degrees warmer so it's fine. I never had any problems with my old lasko even though i have many appliances on at the same time. I don't know if they changed something on the new ones or if it's a circuit issue in his house but other than that, it's still the best heater I've seen and tried.
wonderful space heater!
February 8, 2014
I believe this is a really great product! first off it has an attractive design, nice modern looking and bright white color. It seems to me to be one of the more safer heater types, the only part that gets hot is the mesh grill, the front, the sides and even the bottom do not get hot to the touch, which makes it great for using on carpet. the heater uses convection type heating and is COMPLETLEY silent. it generates a nice warmth in the area in which it is placed. It has a really nice digital control which has several different options. You can set it to run continuously, you can set it to run on a timer (from 1 to 8 hours) or you can use my favorite method which is to just set the temperature to a certain level (like 65 degrees) and when it reaches that temp it turns off. when it falls below the set temp it turns on again. It has a temp setting variance between 39 to 90 degrees. Another safety feature is that if it should happen to tip over the whole thing shuts off completely whether it is running at the time or not. The ONLY reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is that it claims to be a "whole room heater". This is true if where you live does not get that cold in the winter and also the size of the room, however I live in Colorado and recently it got below zero (15 below) and the heater could not supplement heat. plus the living room I have is kind of big. so to be fair I would suggest purchasing two (or three) depending on room size or where you live.

Would buy again
December 21, 2013
This heater puts out decent amount of heat. I am in a 400 sq ft room (25x16 and pretty well insulated) and it does a good job of maintaining the room temp. I do wish it had some type of fan included as to better distribute heat in the room, but if you use a small fan to circulate air in your room it tremendously helps to warm the room. It is currently 32 degrees outside yet warm inside my house. My central heating unit blew up and so I am forced to use this as a cheap alternative. Better than paying a repair man and parts. Very easy to use, and it allows you to adjust the thermostat from 39 to 90 (by single degree increments). Timer can be set from 1 hour to 8. Also there is a setting (when 'A' is displayed) that allows the heater to lessen or increase to desired temperature. I used a Pelonis radiator heater for a large room before this and was disappointed by the amount of heat coming from it. This produces about twice the amount of heat over a larger area. Gets hot very fast, unlike the radiator units. Also completely silent and no smell at all. I can vouch for 400 sq ft or smaller. Price is great for what I got.

Be aware that if your room is already very cold, it will take a few hours to get to a good temp (true of most of these small electric heaters). If you start when room is already at a good temp, this does a great job of maintaining that temp. Also I did not receive any manual in the box, but if you go to the Lasko website you can find this product and the online manual for it (if you really think you need it).

Love everything about it.....except it just stopped working after 4 months.
March 6, 2017
Purchased in November 2016 and used in a bedroom located in a basement. I purchased this due to its low to the floor profile, it is very quiet, and it has a thermostat. In early March 2017 its just quit working. I unplug it for a while and plug it back in and it seems to work again and then it stops working again. I contact Amazon....amazing customer experience.....and they said that I would need to contact Lasko directly. I contacted Lasko and they said that I need to cut the cord and send it to them with Proof of Purchase and then would replace with same model or a couple other choices. The other choices are not the low profile option so I am going to get same model. Crossing my fingers this was just a lemon because I love everything else about it however if it breaks again I won't be happy. I fear this model is declining in reliability as the reviews seem to be going lower.
not happy with this company
January 29, 2017
There is a 'known issue' with this heater--it should be noted on the description. Mine lasted about 31 days. The company shipped me a new one as soon as they received the electric cord (which they required me to cut from the heater and send at my own expense) and which had id verification, but now it is up to me to find a way to dispose of the old heater. So, NO, not happy with this company. I gave them a '3' because the product performs well and quietly when in operation. I think the problem is with whatever passes for a thermostat these days--at any rate, their quality control seems lacking.
I've had mine for 3 years now and it works great. Maybe they were mostly refurbished
December 7, 2016
I am not sure about all the broken post on here. I've had mine for 3 years now and it works great. Maybe they were mostly refurbished, damaged on the way or I was simply lucky in the one I bought. Anyways it's worked all night long to make a living room sized room warm at night. The room gets very comfortable. My 3 stars is because as other reviewers have mentioned the settings are frustrating it does not turn on and remember the last setting it just goes to full 90 degree mode. Also it does take about 5 minutes to make the room warm even though it'll be warm for hours. I run mine for 8+ hours during the winter without a problem. Definitely pros and cons to this heater but it was worth every penny to sleep confortably.
Very nice but too much voltage needed so I donated it
November 3, 2016
I live in an older town home and this heater requires high voltage to keep running.. using this meant I couldn't plug anything else in or use any other electricity in my little one story town home so I ended up donating it to a family in need cause it's too much of a hassle to return and they really needed it and I couldn't use it. It is nice though and easy to level against the wall or mount up high if you like. It's quiet, not silent but quiet when on and heats a small room quickly without need of any other heater.. but not made for older electrical outlets that can't handle high output. It is made of plastic and the metal on the heater is like a tin foil so not sure how long it will last but is very nice and can set the thermostat on it easily.

December 19, 2015
This heater does a pretty good job of heating a large room in my basement. It's supposed to start heating when the room temperature drops to 1 degF below the desired setpoint, and shut off when the room temperature is 2 degF above the setpoint. This heater does start when it is supposed to, but won't shut down until the room temperature is ten degF above the setpoint. So, if my setting is 70 degF, the room heats up to 80 degrees before the heater cycles off.Because it does a good job of heating the room and it is very quiet, I kept the heater and use the timer to shut the unit off after an hour or two.
Good heater, nice and quiet, but the thermostat seemed whacky.
December 9, 2013
We bought this product because it has an automatic thermostat and was silent, so it was perfect for my daughter's bedroom at night, which doesn't seem to get as warm as our master bedroom. It was also low to the ground, which is good with a cat in the house - it won't be knocked over by the cat. The heater worked right out of the box and required no assembly. When you initially turn it on, the thermometer seems to be pretty accurate - within 1 degree of the other two thermometers I placed in the room as a test. It was 62 degrees in the room. However, after maybe 15 minutes of running on automatic at 70 degrees, the heater's thermostat registered 71 degrees and shut off. However, the other two thermometers had crept up only a bit, to 64 degrees. So, I reset the automatic thermostat to 74 degrees and the heater kicked back on for another 10-15 minutes and it turned off when it reached 75. Meanwhile, the actual room temp registered 66 now, a nine degree difference with what was showing on the thermostat on the heater. I let it run overnight a few times now and it will show 74 or 75 in the morning on the heater, with the actual room temperature showing 67 or 68. I guess the thermometer on the heater isn't very well insulated? So, bottom line is that it does the job, you just have to play with the temperate a bit to get the "real" temperature you want.

It was working well when it turned on. I've had it for just shy of a year and it stopped working. It will just shut off and won't turn on. I've tried all the recommended things (e.g. cooling off, making sure there is no dust inside, etc.) but it won't turn on.

Chinese disposable heater, but Lasco is replacing it
October 27, 2016
Wow. This was impressive. Received product, removed it from box, plugged it in, turned it on. Used it for 1 night and that was it. The following night it turned on went up to 99 and would not shut off. So I unplugged it, plugged it back in and that was it. If I leave it plugged in the display randomly turns on and off with the temp numbers bouncing up and down. At this point it is a complete fire hazard. This piece of junk doesn't belong in anyone's home unless you plan on starting a fire. I purchased it for our newborn babies room so you could imagine my disgust. Made in China go figure. Don't waste your money or time with this product. I'm so tired of throwing money away on worthless junk but that seems to be everything now a days.
Update: I was actually able to get someone on the phone in about 15 min. They were very nice and helpful. They claimed that there were problems with this model and they are replacing it in 7-10 days after they receive the old unit. The product is not the greatest but it's what we were looking for. I can't complain when the customer service rep was polite and the company is replacing the unit. We'll see about the new one.
Broke after the first day
January 5, 2016
I'm giving 3 stars because I've owned one of these heaters for three years and never had one problem from that heater. I ordered a second one recently because I was tired of moving the one heater around my apartment. I opened and used it right away. I immediately knew something was different because my original, older heater would normally have my living room very hot within an hour. This one barely felt warm. The next day, I attempted to use it again and even though the red light was on, signaling a power connection, the heater wouldnt actually turn on. I moved it around my apartment to test the connection and quickly realized the heater itself was the problem. Overall, I am extremely disappointed that it failed working within 24 hours of first use, but I am happy that Amazon returned my money swiftly! Buyer beware from this seller.
Edited - thermostat is very inconsistent re: temp setting vs. heating
January 11, 2014
EDIT: It is now about 1 year later, and while this still works better than other room heaters we have used, we have one problem that has been consistent since the day we purchased it - it seems to have sometime ignore the thermostat setting. For example, we can set it to 69 and put it on auto, We'll come back in the room, the temp on the heater will show 71 yet it will still be heating/the heater is running. Other times it will be set at, say, 70, the temp will show 68, in Auto mode, and it will not be heating. It seems most frequently, though, that it will heat above the set temperature and keep running even though it shows the temp above the set point.
-----------

Our bedrooms are downstairs, with the living area and thermostat upstairs. As a result, the upstairs can be comfortable and our bedroom can be very cold (we live in NW Iowa with a LOT of very cold weather.) After trying several loud upright room/space heaters, which would heat the room up eventually but make a lot of noise, and also had to be manually turned on and off, I decided to give this a try.

The good: It works. It seems to warm up our room (about 12x11) with no problem at all. Set the thermostat and it just works. For the first time since we've lived here, the bedroom is comfortable all day and night while keeping the upstairs at a reasonable temp. It seems to heat the room up much quicker and more uniformly than the space heaters we've tried in the past. This would be a 5 star product for us EXCEPT:

The bad: If the TV in the bedroom is on or there is other ambient noise, this heater is very quiet. You'd never know it was in the room. However, when the lights go out and it is time to sleep, you can hear a fairly low "hum." It sounds somewhat like a fluorescent light that has developed a buzz, albeit at a low level. But in a quiet bedroom when you are trying to sleep, it is just noticeable enough to be irritating.

So, if you're looking to heat a room and are tired of the upright, noisy space heaters with no thermostat, and don't want to pay $200 for the fancy "box" room heaters, and don't mind a VERY slight hum, you can't beat this. If you're the kind of person for whom that very slight hum in the middle of the night in the bedroom would drive you crazy, be forewarned.

Energy HOG-- Beware of massive electric bills
January 15, 2017
The Lasso 5624 does sufficiently heat a room--- but what the manufacturer doesn't tell you is that it consumes an enormous amount of energy. I bought one for our bedroom and it heated the room perfectly so I bought one for our living room. The first month my electric bill went up $150! I didn't make a connection between the rate increase and the Lasko. With the second Lasko in the living room the following month my heating bill increased by another $150! That's $300 in two months! The electric company took action and sent us a letter stating that they will be fining us each month for our over usage of electricity.
Abrupt, total failure after only a couple years use
March 3, 2016
Died abruptly and completely after ~2.5 years. It's a shame that such a short lifespan comes with a product so highly rated. We are a modern, throwaway society is the common refrain. I'm handy with basic electronics & mechanical stuff, but have thus far been completely unable to diagnose, let alone, solve the problem so it's probably going into the trash and I've most certainly invalidated any conceivable remnant of the so-called 3-year limited warranty. Live and don't learn, I suppose, as the next instance will probably also be highly rated and then fail down the road in some similar manner. PS it was treated very well and in a service burden that should have been quite low impact on its long-term survivability.
Failed After One Winter
January 28, 2016
When this was working it was great. I used it as supplement heating by the door of my apartment since there is no duct work over there. I set the thermostat once at the start of the cold season and it did its job the whole time. It was essentially silent other than the faint click when it cycled on and off. You could really feel the heat coming off this thing and it did a awesome job regulating the side of the apartment it was on.I brought it out for the second winter (I packed it back up once spring came) and made sure it was clean and dust free. It worked well for a week but now it just shuts itself after a little bit. The main display will turn off and then red light at the bottom stays on. Unplugging it will sometimes get it to work, but even then the thermostat won't work, it'll stay on until it overheats and the screen shuts off.
Bought two last year 1 stopped working.
January 21, 2016
Bought 2 heaters, they worked fine the first winter (2014-2015) I love how quiet they are. I brought them back out from storage and one of them is still working fine. The other one worked for a few days and now it turns off after a minute of turning it on and won't turn back on. At first I thought It maybe had been programmed to function on delay for a few hours but it wasn't. One works, the other doesn't, bought them together, both placed in rooms that are the exact same size and they are working under the same circumstances.
Decent, while it lasts
January 14, 2016
Went through two of these. Each stopped working after the same interval, with the same outcome. The little red light would come on when plugged in, but the device was otherwise a paper weight. If I unplugged it for a while I could get a 5-10 minutes of use out of it before it would revert to a paper weight with a red light. :-/
Disappointed by Lasko for the last time...
January 6, 2015
Ordered and used one of these for over a year and loved it. It was quiet and efficient, warming our 350 sf master bedroom. Of course a couple of weeks after the warranty expired, it quit. I took a chance and ordered another one hoping that it would last as long as some of the reviews indicated. I ordered it on 11/26/2014, received it 12/01/2014 and it quit working 12/26/2014! It would run 2-3 minutes and then shut off. I would unplug it for 15 minutes in order to reset it but when I plugged it back in and set it to a reasonable temp (74 degrees) it continued to shut off after 2-3 minutes. I decided I'm done with Lasko. I plugged in my wife's office heater (Polaris) which is several years old and it works like a champ. Thanks to Amazon, I just returned this heater via UPS (however, since I got rid of the packaging it came in, I had to pay UPS $20.35 for their packing). I'd be curious whether those glowing reviews from last week are just as glowing 30 days from now. I just hope you hung onto the box it came it.

Died quickly
December 6, 2016
I bought my fourth one of these two months ago because the third one, which I'd had for a year, stopped working. After 6 weeks of working fine, it started turning itself off after a few minutes of operation. The only solution is to unplug it for many minutes, plug in again. Start it, a few minutes of silent heat, then nothing. Same thing at different plugs. I won't be buying any more.
Faulty controller
March 28, 2016
This unit worked only about 2 months in relatively light use. The digital control was faulty and once the heater reached the set temp it would shut the unit off and not come back on when the room cooled off. The manual recommends when this happens to unplug the unit for 5 minutes and restart it. I guess that is ok if the problem only happens once in a while, but for us it happened every time the unit reached the set temp. After about 6 months of putting up with the problem, we have decided to replace it. Probably will not buy another Lasko unit, however.
Not even close to silent
February 29, 2016
First of all, this heater IS NOT SILENT. They should not be allowed to call it silent as it emits a very audible and irritating buzz whenever it is on. The thermometer is way off- it reads about six degrees higher than the room is (I have an internal thermometer). I can outsmart it by learning what the degrees correspond to in real life, but it is annoying, and no one should use the display on this heater as a guide to actual temperature. I have to stick with it because it is the only configuration that works for my tiny apartment, but I am not particularly happy about it. Not impressed with this heater at all.
I am disappointed in the last one I bought
January 28, 2016
Never worked for me. I have another of the same model that has lasted me for 5 years. I am disappointed in the last one I bought.
Defective thermostat.
January 27, 2015
The heater is ok when it works, but the thermostat is unreliable. It was quirky from the beginning, and failed in about a month. When it failed, the heater would turn on and operate for a few minutes and turn off. The only way I could turn it back on was to unplug it and turn it back on again. I returned it to Amazon.

Broke fast, no help.
April 17, 2017
Had this for less than 2 months, using it as a supplemental heater in my daughter's room (well within the square footage recommendations for the product). It stopped working. Would randomly turn off, then the time between the shut offs got shorter and shorter, until it wouldn't even turn on. Got in touch with customer service, and they won't send a replacement until I can sit on the phone with them for an hour to "troubleshoot" during my regular workday (when I don't have the heater!). Save yourself the hassle and buy a different heater.
Defective - Kept running even though we turned it off
February 25, 2017
We purchased a third one of these because we loved the two we already had. This one is unfortunately going in the trash. We had it plugged in downstairs and turned it off to go to bed. It was still plugged in though. My husband had to let the dog out a few hours later and thank goodness he went downstairs. The heater was running but the power lights and display were NOT illuminated. The heater was extremely hot and we had to unplug it to get it to shut off. Upon further inspection, it is either defective or was damaged in shipping. There are two screws on the bottom connected to some of the interior parts that are loose and move around quite a bit. Unfortunately this happened about a week ago, and our return window was only until February 10, so I cannot return or exchange. We will be inspecting the other units we own and likely will not purchase this item again due to concerns with its safety.
Broken after a year, No customer service. Save your money.
December 6, 2016
Bought it in October 2015 and it didn't work the following year. A classic "short" with a pop sound and then the thing shuts off after only a few minutes of use.Their customer service line doesn't provide an option for warranties -- why? they never break? -- and trying the sales dept. leads to an endless wait timeSupposedly there's a 3 yr warranty, but after YOU pay for shipping it back to Philadelphia, is it really worth it? Pay a little more up front and buy something else.
Complete junk. Save your money.
December 3, 2015
Absolute piece of garbage. Purchased 2 of these heaters, one to heat the basement and 1 to heat a room above the garage. 1 of the 2 didn't work immediately out of the box. As always, Amazon quickly processed the return and shipped me a new unit. Both units work for approximately 5-10 minutes, and then shut off. The units will not turn back on, and you must unplug, do a full power cycle, and then plug back in to get them to run for another 5-10 minutes. If just one of my units was behaving this way, I would write it off as a lemon. However, with both units being entirely worthless, I have to say that these units are complete junk. Save yourself the disappointment and buy something different,
... this heater at the end of November and were pleased with it until it stopped working recently
February 12, 2015
We purchased this heater at the end of November and were pleased with it until it stopped working recently. It turns itself off a few minutes after we turn it on. Along with the instructions that came with it was a paper that states: Have Questions? Need Service? Please Do Not Return Product to Store! Contact Lasko Customer Service. Unfortunately for us, that's exactly what we tried to do, with absolutely no luck by telephone or email. My husband and I both work and don't really have the time to sit for more than 15-20 minutes on hold while we wait for customer service at Lasko to answer our call. Frankly, no one should have to wait longer than that. We're still waiting for a response to an email I wrote over a week ago. Now, it's too late for us to return the heater to Amazon so we're stuck with it. The moral of the story is return the product immediately to Amazon, or just don't buy anything from Lasko.
DO NOT BUY!
December 7, 2014
I have owned and used MULTIPLE Lasko (and other brands of) space heaters over many years and this one, while quieter than all the others, definitely does not heat a room as well. I'm disappointed, and will not buy this again. Probably would work best in a very small room that is able to be closed off, but does not work well in rooms that conjoin with other open spaces/rooms. It takes the cold edge off, but just never gets the room warm.**UPDATE from a long-time Amazon customer who usually only has good things to say- but not this time **PURCHASED THIS ITEM IN SEPTEMBER TO PREPARE FOR THE WINTER, BUT DID NOT NEED TO EVEN TAKE IT OUT OF THE BOX UNTIL DECEMBER 1ST. STARTED USING IT ABOUT 3-4 HOURS PER DAY FROM THEN UNTIL DECEMBER 23RD, THEN IT SUDDENLY MADE A LOUD POPPING NOISE, BLEW THE CIRCUIT BREAKER IN MY HOUSE, PUT OFF A HORRIBLE BURNT PLASTIC SMELL AND NEVER WORKED AGAIN!!! THEY WON'T TAKE A RETURN, SO IT WAS JUST WASTED MONEY.*********************************SERIOUSLY, DO NOT BUY THIS HEATER!!!!**************************************************************IT LARGE IN SIZE, AND, FOR IT'S LARGE SIZE, ONLY WORKED SUB-PAR AT IT'S BEST. LIKE OTHER REVIEWS, IT'S THERMOSTAT WAS ABOUT 10 DEGREE OFF.I WISH I HAD LISTENED TO THE REVIEWS WHO HAD ACTUALLY HAD THIS PRODUCT FOR LONGER THAN A MONTH. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY, BUY A DIFFERENT BRAND THAN LASKO...

Waste of Money
June 20, 2016
I Purchased this heater for my guest room in our basement. We used it 2 or three times and it was great. Then it stopped working all together. The light comes on, but nothing else. Such a disappointment!
STEER CLEAR
May 28, 2016
Had two of these. Both burned out while being used within normal limits. the first was replaced via warranty. The second was beyond the purchase guarantee window and not returnable. Previous US-made space heater lasted almost 20 years. Lasko ! You're on my list ! Anyway, steer clear of these.
Doesn't work for very long.
February 1, 2016
I bought two of these heaters. One works about 3 hours a day. The other was purchased to work about 5 or 6 hours a day. It stopped working within a couple of weeks and I returned it. One and a half months later it stopped working. The light goes on, it will reset, but it will then only work for about ten minutes before quitting. Bottom line: I got stuck with two bad heaters and in the end lost $55 or so. I wouldn't buy this brand again.
This will only heat your frustrations!
January 29, 2016
I ordered 2 of these initiallly and then about two weeks after regular use ( 2-3 hours in the morning 5 days a week) they just stopped working altogether. So I had them replaced and two weeks later the same exact thing. If your looking for an item to heat your frustrations then choose this one. If you need one to heat your home please don't buy this one. Save yourself the anger.
Second unit - both failed
January 25, 2016
Received 1st unit 12/29/2015. It was "dead-on-arrival" (DOA). Opened box, plugged in - no work. Returned for replacement.
Received 2nd unit 01/04/2016. It worked for a while. After week-1 at one point while in use for about 1 hour, plugged directly into wall outlet, ambient temperature 71 - the unit made a "pop" noise and shut-off; would not restart. I unplugged. Next day tried to use and it worked. Then on 01/25/2016 while in use just 1/2 hour, temp = 67 degrees, unit emitted a bright spark & loud "pop" noise from under control unit (I was sitting right next to it). Unplugged unit & returned to Amazon for replacement. Good thing I saved original box in my garage. While packing unit for return I noticed that bottom of box was overlaid with gray duct tape, different from transparent packing tape on top of box (maybe it was tampered with or re-conditioned?). Frustrating experience. Surprising, since I own an identical make/model (have used for over 5 years) with no problems. That's why I order another. Amazon service = excellent. Lasko quality = poor.
