A great machine at an excellent price.
November 28, 2016
This is a excellent vacuum and on all accounts. Our house is all carpet and we prefer uprights. While our last upright works well, it is also heavy. This is not favorable to the lower back and with a new remnant, despite level adjustments it cannot be vacuumed well. So I was tempted to spend around 300.00 again but I can tell you that at this price and result in using it, I would have wasted a lot of money. I compared it to its sister model with the word "Animal" with it- meaning pet hair being picked up, however in a consumer rating this model rated better for carpets. I also compared it to Dyson. You may have weaker brushes as one comment I saw posted on that expensive "ball" type (Dyson) when they compared its Animal to non-Animal, but I can tell you that this Hoover machine is excellent for pet hair pick up. Other features: it is not heavy and the foot print or front width is not prohibitive to get around furniture. I like the auto recoil of the power line. The attachment's holder is a bit cheap, but works. Zero emissions which is great. Easy to empty (our first bagless). Filter is washable but I
still bought extras. Definitely an excellent value. You can't go wrong. Save your money.
Great for big households. Holding up with 6 people and 2 pets!
July 12, 2016
this has been a reliable vacuum for almost 6 months. i delayed writing a review to see how it would hold up a months later, instead of being hasty with my review and having to possibly edit it later, when some people may have made a purchase based on my review. So, here goes. This is a handy vacuum because of it's ease of use. The canister pulls out easy, the dust cup compartment is easy to empty and return to the unit and i haven't had to clean the filter more than any other vacuum i've owned. Every week I tip my vacuum so I can clean the hair from the brush, UNPLUGGED OF COURSE! and this I think helps extend the motor life. I love the automatic cord winder and so far no issues, even when my kids pulled it out too far once. I was able to get it back going easily! The handle is a good size and easy to hold and use. It's not too heavy but not so light it doesn't work. It's just right. I love the way the wand disconnects from the unit to use the nozzle on stairs and crevices. It's easy, instead of pulling it out like I've had to in the past, I click a button and it pops out. Hoover really thought of all the easy convinces in this vacuum, along with super strong suction and high power. I know I'll be using this vacuum for a long time.
Go for the Green Machine
October 23, 2015
I replaced my blue colored Hoover Windtunnel 12 amp vacuum with this green one. The blue one was only a year old but the power switch broke on it. The bottom of the dust collector also broke so that it falls off when the button is pressed to clean out the dust and dirt. This doesn't affect the suction of the machine but it is a hassle when I dump it out outdoors, especially in the winter when there is snow on the ground. I priced a replacement part and it was half of the cost of the vacuum. I did find a very reasonably priced switch online and the vacuum is still working.
I like the green Windtunnels' placement of the power switch. It is up higher and in front of the machine, not low and behind the machine where it is harder to find......it is easier to locate and use. The green machine also seems to push much easier than the blue machine. I have had the green machine for about 3 months and am very satisfied with it. I have a yellow Dyson vacuum as well and I really do not think it is worth the extra money for it compared to the Hoover Windtunnel. I would buy the green machine again!
Highly recommend! BTW

Ok...I wasn't entirely sure that a vacuum around $100.00 would work this well.

We have cats...they shed. Our old Oreck just wasn't doing the job anymore and took a chance on this vacuum.
The amount of fur that this vacuum can pick up in one use is astonishing.
The picture is what came out of the canister after two vacuums.
It's about a volleyball mass of fur (remember, it's spring in Las Vegas, so the critters are shedding).

Highly recommend!

BTW, research the belts before you automatically buy (like I did), one of the ones we bought doesn't go with this vacuum.
My Carpets Look and Feel Years Younger...Smell better too...
April 19, 2012
I dearly love my dog - a chocolate lab - but as of late the house was starting to smell...not fresh... Perhaps I needed a different vacuum cleaner to replace the canister vac that had finally run it's course. Being of a certain age (that means well into my 50s) I've had many, many years of housecleaning experience. I grew up with a Kenmore canister vac, and I used a Kenmore cansiter vac all my adult life . (No not the same one, I've a had a couple...) I hated the discharge smell from my old vacuum cleaner eventhough I change the bag every single time and I questioned how well it was picking up the pet hair. I did a little internet research, checked with various women folk and concluded I needed a Dyson bagless. Until I priced one. So back to the internet and Consumers Report. And - this model came up as pretty good and not too much money. So eventhough I figure that putting some decent money down for a good appliance is not usually a bad strategy, I decided to go cheap - Dyson $600, Hoover WindTunnel $100. In my mind I could not convince myself that the Dyson was 6 times better. And so I went cheap.

The RESULTS: This Hoover Windtunnel cleaned my rugs like they haven't been cleaned in ages. The sheer amount of gunk that the machine picked up was embarassing. And overnight my house smelled better. And my rugs were brighter. And they were cushier. Really - it lifted the pile. I am pleased, to say the least, and I am willing to put up with its bad points as long as it keeps on cleaning my rugs.

The bad points of this machine? Oh...there are a few...
1. It's made kinda cheap, no getting around it, but it's only $100 so it's actually pretty good for the money. I only paid $80 for it because of the $20 rebate and no shipping charge because I have Amazon Prime. For $80 I figured if I get a couple of years out of it, I'm still ahead, I don't mind if I have to replace it.

2. The hose - for heavens sake...you pull it out, put the attachment on, turn on the machine and the suction actually pulls on the hose so you kind of have to fight it to use it. Not so good - but I knew that was going to be an issue from reading the reviews. I was prepared to be underwhelmed...

3. Got a fair amount of wood floors? Get the model that has a switch for turning off the rotating head. It's not helpful to have the vac whirring around when you are doing bare floors - but again I knew that. I have a broom. And a dust mop. And not alot of bare floors.

4. The cord is short...at least shorter than what I've had before and shorter than what it should be. So - I get out my orange, three prong, heavy duty, manly extension cord that I took from my husband's shop and use that - and the vac reaches everywhere I need it to without unplugging it 5 times. Yes, I know you are not supposed to use an extension cord with vacuum cleaners, but it's okay if you use the heavy duty kind. No wimpy extension cords that you use for your lamps or Christmas candles on the window sill...

5. Emptying out the cansiter - no way around it - it's messy. I take it outside and dump it in a bag so the dust is not being reintroduced into the house. And I have to do that a couple of times - because it's still picking up a ton of gunk from my rugs. And that part is rather satisfying - "Look at all the dirt this thing pulled out of the rugs...dear, come and look... really - you gotta see it!!" The novelty will probably wear off in awhile.

6. The dog doesn't like this vacuum cleaner any better than the last one. Oh well. Too bad for her. Run doggie run.

ONE YEAR LATER FOLLOW-UP:
Soooo - just about one year later and the machine is still doing just about as well as when I first used it. Still sucking gunk and doggie hair out of the carpets. And still NO SMELL! And yes, I still marvel at the gunk in the canister as I dump it (messily, true) into the garbage. Would I buy another when the time comes? Yes. Do I recommend it? Yes. My daughter-in-law bought one (she has a dog) and loves it; I bought one for my daughter in college (she has a cat) and she loves it. Do the bad points I mentioned above still apply? Well yes, BUT - it hasn't broken yet so we're still good to go. And the dog still hates it.

Great price, good dirt cup and filters combination.
September 20, 2017
We get these inexpensive vacs to pick up stuff before using Swiffer dry and wet mops. (We have all tile.) They tend to break down every few years, so we don't have high expectations. This came on sale for $33.50 at the time I was looking for my next one which made the 3-year warranty for it $5.50. I figured that $39 total was a tremendous deal since if it breaks down on schedule, it could result in getting a new one. Some people complain about the cord being too short. It's long enough to reach across our 18' wide bedroom. My wife has her own vac with the same length cord and she keeps an extension cord on hers so that she can do multiple rooms. Some people have also complained about the dirt cup filling up too quickly, but that is not my experience. However, we don't have pets or kids creating a mess, so we don't have a lot of debris to pick up. The dirt cup is extremely easy to empty and the filters much easier to clean than vacs I've had before. So it doesn't seem like that big a deal even if you have to empty the dirt cup every time you use it (which I don't).
Ultralight, but powerful!
July 15, 2017
I didn't want this vacuum I wanted one that I always use but it's super expensive. I tried 3 different cheaper ones until I found this one. This little guy packs a powerful punch. You have to be sure to empty the cup every time you use it. You have to push it really hard to get it into the standing position, I thought it was defective at first. The other thing is the hose connection on the right side pops out a lot if you push up against the wall or anything. But it is very powerful. Great suction, and I've had it for months and it has not lost any suction. I use it always on the bare floor setting because I have low-pile carpet. I signed at the other settings deception is not as good. Overall excellent vacuum, ultralight.
A great value, so far.
August 25, 2016
We've only had the vacuum a little over a week, so I can't comment on durability. Other than that, it has performed very well. It's reasonably light and fits in tight places. The attachments are minimal but adequate - a combination dusting and crevice tool. I didn't expect more on such a small machine. We have a smallish house, about 2250 sq ft, and it easily did the whole place without needing to be emptyed. Complaints about a need for constant emptying are doubtless true, but I didn't experience it. The whole house's worth of dirt left the canister about half full and that includes a large flower pot that upended and made a mess. One mention about the pin holding the handle breaking was interesting. The handle is the obvious way to lift the vacuum but the actual, sturdy, lifting handle is located on the top of dust collector. Using it might have saved the reviewer some grief. Overall, this little machine cleaned better than our O.....k vacuum, by a lot. I'm giving it four stars because I don't know how long it will hold up. It seems just fine right now.ADDENDUM - 10/31/2017 One note - The cord is short or at least too short to suit me. I solved this by purchasing a 20-foot extension cord which allows me to vacuum almost the entire first floor. Woods 990547 16/2 SVT Small Appliance Extension Cord, 20-Foot, Gray Also, I raising my rating to five stars. It has earned it.
Surprisingly Good!
August 8, 2016
I had a super heavy duty Hoover before (220V version) and after moving to US, I wanted something similar but the same model was not available in the 110V version. After a couple of hours of reading reviews and technical specifications, I opted this since I wanted something lighter and mobile (can carry everywhere). When it came, I thought it was so light that it would be no good. I started to feel the trepidation that I would have to return this very soon. Boy, was I surprised! This thing sucks up dirt extremely efficiently. I have used it on carpet, hardwood floor and tile. I don't have to go over any area twice. It does it job and it does it well. I have long hair and my husband sheds a lot of hair, it had always been a challenge to keep carpets clean, specially near the dressing area. This thing sucks up hair real easy. It is a breeze to empty the chamber. The cord is long enough to cover a large area, if you have plugged it in a central location. I currently have a one bedroom townhome, over 800 sq feet, mostly carpeted and since this is light weighted vacuum ( I am a 5 ft, 120 lbs woman and can easily handle it), I take it out more often than I used to my heavy one.I have had this for 3 months now and will update this review to give updates on its performance.
this is my favorite that I have owned
March 23, 2016
We have had many vacuums over the years.. everything from Rainbows and electrolux to the cheapies! Aside from my 2004 model of Kirby which is self propelled... this is my favorite that I have owned. It's light weight but strong suction. I do wish the canister for pick up was a little bigger or held more capacity as we have a lot of ground to cover and we have to empty it multiple times.... but it's worth the money!
Cost effective and very, very good at cleaning carpets, light weight and easy to clean.
August 20, 2015
OK , here are the facts...as I see them regarding the Hoover Sprint quicklvac. It is a light weight and cost effective machine with a lot of positive features. It really and truly cleans our carpets with very strong suction, no doubt. It is small but easily cleans 3 rooms blowing clean air out the vent. (Our last 150$ machine managed to dust the room a bit and required more maintenance.)It cleans to the very edge of the walls and only a normal amount of work is required to collect lint, dust or cat fur and people hair. The cord is kind of short but as part of my exercise program =) I never hesitate to unplug it as I move room to room. The handle feels a tiny bit wobbly because it is designed to easily detach, which it does. Then you can clean crevices or cob webs in corners. The cleaning tool is simple and fits very well on the main machine. If you have extra attachments from an old vacuum they fit on the extension also. It is the easiest to clean of any machine I ever used, a simple fastener allows you to dump the waste into the trash in about 3 seconds total!I suggest taking the time to clean the reusable filter and to rinse the plastic section every time you are finished, especially if you enjoy a dust free room.Other machines have pumped dust into the room because their filtration system is bad, or even worse blows dirt across the room as you try and collect it, this one does NOT do that at all.On solid flooring that is a real plus. Ours actually sucks so hard it sometimes seem to stick to the floor! That is the truth in advertising, this thing is a real bargain and worth the minimal cost.I am comparing this to a long list of vacums we have owned, on average a 170$ machine lasts us maybe 3 years before the roller bearings melt. When this one begins to fail someday i will simply look for another. Maybe someday we can afford a state of the art 900$ machine but for now, this is an excellent deal!Sure it is plastic, yes it is inexpensive but it outperforms machines costing three times the cost. Walmart costs were prohibitive and we came here to good old Amazon, well what do you know.

Great canister vacuum with some work.
February 21, 2017
I've used this vacuum for the better part of the last 6 years. The suction is great, it doesn't release dust from the canister (which I know is a complaint with many of these types of vacuums), and it is very versatile. I will say it does require maintenance, it is not an Oreck bag vacuum, you do have to take apart the canister and replace the filtration parts rather frequently. I have a very high volume traffic area with children and pets and vacuum constantly, with that I have to dump the filter, disassemble the wind tunnel inside it and clean it at least once a month. I have completely refurbished it once with belts filters, and cleaned it down to the motor and once reassembled it was like new. All and all it works great at a great price, but if you want something that you don't have to work at to maintain or dump out, get an Oreck.
Very Good Vacuum And Price Can Not Be Beat
December 26, 2016
I was considering a Dyson upright until I read a very positive recommendation by a leading consumer research magazine of this vacuum which costs well less than half the price of a Dyson. I have owned it now for a month and have found it to have strong suction and it seems very effective on various height carpets. It has manual height adjustment settings but the brush can not be shut of which is a disadvantage if used for hard wood floors. Features that are especially attractive to me are that the machine is light weight for a full size vacuum, easy to maneuver, accessory tools are easy to use, and a retractable long power cord. All this for less than $100 when on sale. The biggest annoyance is that the canister fills up rather quickly and the dirt, dust, etc. does not just drop out when the release flap is opened. I often have to use a thin object or my hand to "encourage" the contents to empty. I would have given the product five stars except for this annoyance.
Good vacuum, carpet height is NOT adjustable...
November 1, 2016
All in all, it's been a very good vacuum. It does have some drawbacks, but for the Deal of the Day price that I paid for it ($65), it's a great stop-gap until we can afford something better. We just moved into a house that's 3-4x the size of our last apartment with a lot more carpet, so we needed something ASAP, and I've gotten awfully thrifty while I was shopping for mortgages and looking at housing and utility costs for such a large home. I digress...
Easy to assemble, easy to work, though the controls are different than what most people are used to (power button on front of handle near the top of the vacuum, cord rewind lever just under dirt canister, and fold-down button is in the usual spot near the hinge/wheels by the floor) and it seems to offer powerful suction, along with easy-to-use hose attachments - just a simple press of a button to detach the hose and the attachments are easily pulled from the vacuum body and put on to get to those hard-to-reach places.
There IS a carpet height adjustment dial on this vacuum... it accomplishes NOTHING that I can tell. If you're looking at it from above while turning the knob, the brush head doesn't move, the wheels don't move... nothing moves except the dial. If you pick up the vacuum and look underneath while you adjust it, there's resistance to the dial and it sure FEELS like it SHOULD be doing something, but nothing changes. Maybe something really is happening, but I'm completely blind to it... I don't know. Either way, it's not somethings that has affected the vacuum's ability to efficiently pull dirt out of the carpet or off the floor.
I don't recall now if you can turn the main brush off or not... I feel like it's always on, even when locked in the upright position to use the hose, which can be annoying, but it's not REALLY harming anything.
It has handled tiled, linoleum, and pergo floors very well so far without damaging them.

Pros:
Easy assemble
Fairly light and maneuverable
Cord rewind works and beats the heck out of winding the cord around
Works well on all surfaces so far
Easy to use hose and attachments

Cons:
Says that the carpet/flooring height is adjustable... it is not. That knob does nothing on this model
Floor brush stays on all the time, which I, personally, don't mind, but it seems to bother other people
Excellent vacuum for the price
May 30, 2016
I actually looked at much more expensive vacuums but I just couldn't bring myself to spend $450-$500 on a vacuum. I'm impressed with how much dirt and pet hair this picks up on carpet (I have a long haired cat). The tools have better suction than any vacuum I've ever owned. If this vacuum holds up over time I would probably upgrade to 5 stars because of the low price (time will tell). I found that the upholstery brush roller attachment didn't work that well on upholstery seats (if it sits flat it doesn't get any air intake and it stops the roller). It works fine on areas of upholstery where it doesn't completely contact the furniture (e.g. arms of a chair). The bristled brush (non-roller) attachment did far better on seats of upholstered furniture. The upholstery brush roller attachment did work well on areas of carpet that are too small for the main vacuum to reach. I'm not in love with the retractable cord. The one on mine is so finicky that I think I could manually wind a cord up faster. Not a big deal, if it seems like a frustrating thing down the road I'll just wind the cord manually and figure out a place to hang it. I did find that I couldn't just simply empty the dirt cup to get all of the stuff out of it, I had to remove the whole filter assembly (likely because of the cat hair that seemed to accumulate around the filter). It's not hard to do, just a bit messy. All in all, I think it performs very well.
Great vacuum; some minor annoyances
September 20, 2015
We've had this vacuum for a few months now and it has been excellent so far. It has great suction (we quickly filled the vacuum the first time from all the dirt that our old vacuum was simply too weak to pull up).

Some reviews mentioned the lack of a brush on/off as a problem, though we've used this on our hardwood floors with no problems. You can always just adjust the brush height higher if you're concerned it will scratch your floor.

The handheld brush tool seems kind of gimmicky. It has no additional power to turn the brush aside from the suction. I tried it on our couch but it didn't really seem to work any better than simply using the hose.

The hose is easy to engage, however, for using for crevices and the like. You remove it with the push of a button and it easily clicks back into place when you're done. Some of the attachments are precariously attached to the vacuum and tend to fall off onto the floor which is a minor annoyance.

The canister fills quickly and is not especially large especially if you are careful to only let it get full up to the fill line. We have a dog and the hair mixed with the dirt doesn't immediately just want to fall out so you kind of end up pulling it out by hand which is a messy, dusty operation. If you don't have a dog or cat I imagine it's fairly painless as you just push a button and let the dirt out the bottom.

Some reviewers have mentioned subpar reliability. I will update if necessary but it seems like a solidly built machine.

So far a good machine with some minor annoyances.

GOOD VALUE FOR THE PRICE
March 26, 2017
The price is right for the product. I have an Oreck that I really like, but had to have some unexpected service on it. I was able to get this delivered in 2 days and needed it now! It does a fairly good job of cleaning all floors (wood, carpet, vinyl). The hose for the attachment is way too short. I have to pick up the entire vacuum to get to any windows , or actually anything above my shoulder height. There is also no upholstery attachment. I do like that the attachment and hoses are held in place by little toggles that help prevent loss of attachments. And lastly, the power cord is too short. I can't clean an entire room without moving the cord to a different outlet. If I were expecting a high powered long lasting vacuum, I would be disappointed. But it is what it is. At less than $50, I will use it until the Oreck is ready to be picked up, and this vacuum will go the basement to be used there.
It's awesome and compact and strong.
March 24, 2017
Like this swift and quick cleaning vacuum cleaner. I had a dirt devil, that thing was loud. This is not comparatively. It was easy to assemble a child can do it. The filter space needs to be emptied after a few runs but that is perfect for me I do not want to carry dirt around and keep it in the vac anyway. That was the drag about using a bagged vac. The dirt hung around a long time until the bag was full. Yuk! I use it on carpet and it picks up a lot of dust and fine dirt that needs to come up. I don't have animals so am not sure about that usage. It has good suction and good pick up as far as I can see. I use it on a 2 bedroom apartment and the bathroom and kitchen floors. It's awesome. At first I thought the handle did not stay up. It is released by holding your foot down which is something I have not seen before. Read the instructions and it will be second nature! Love this vac!
Great for BUDGET/APARTMENT/STORAGE shopper
September 15, 2016
Works great, sucked a LOT of dirt and dust. The hoover is smaller than you would think from looking at the photo. I was okay for this as space why I was able to put it away nicely.CONS: The canister is ALWAYS not as big as it looks. Look at the photo provided the MAX line is very low. Meaning you need to empty FREQUENTLY while hoovering. Which I also do not mind but I can see it can get annoying.UPDATE: I forgot to add that the base does not lift, IE when you tip the hoover back say to lift it up it doesnt. Not a major issue.Another update: 09/17/2016 NEVER pay more than the SALE price for this item I purchased for $38, that is okay! But the amount you have to empty the canister just to hoover one room is AT times a little frustrating. It needs frequent changing. AGAIN if you are on a budget the suction is still great. I wont knock it for that, but if you can afford more then go ahead and get something with a larger canister section.
Decent "starter" vacuum - needs better instructions for initial use
June 20, 2016
Bought this vacuum for my daughter and her friends 1st college apartment. When we unpacked it - we struggled to understand it a little and the instructions are not very clear. Our biggest issue was that we didn't understand that the handle comes out of the base and can be used as the wand. However, you do have to move the hose in order to switch from the floor suction to the wand suction.I bought it because it was a good price as a "deal of the day" and I'm happy to see that the filters and cannister can be easily cleaned with soap/water. The unit even has an indicator to tell you when to clean the filter. The multi-cleaning tool is small and far from the best I've seen or used - but it will do the trick for some college girls. My daughter has only used it a few times but it seems to be working well.All-in-all -- a good "starter" vacuum for someone who will likely not clean a lot. However, I'll stick to my Central Vacuum system :)
Great, but messy
May 12, 2016
Great for the price. Strong suction compared to my last vacuum. The only I have is that emptying the dust canister can get messy. The mechanism that locks the canister to the upper filter is a twist off and always spills when removed. I posted a photo below to show what I mean. Otherwise a very solid vacuum for the price.
Powerhouse that sucks up dirt like a boss!
December 2, 2015
After having two different name brand vacuums that broke right after the warranty ran out I decided to go back to a Hoover, since my previous Hoover lasted me several years. I've only had it for one day so I will edit this review after 6 months or so but here is my opinion so far.Pros- It sucks up dirt like a boss! It picked up everything in it's path, even stuff that we couldn't see like dust and cat hair, which is the most important feature in a vacuum in my opinion. My previous vacuums that were way more expensive (even at the original price) never worked this well. It's not overbearingly loud. It has a super long cord It's flat enough I was able to vacuum under things like my ottoman. The detaching handle allows me to store it in the small space under the stairs. I got it on sale for Black Friday for less than half price.Cons- It was not very easy to push or maneuver for my wheelchair bound wife or pregnant daughter nor did they find it light weight, but it was doable. Pushing it into an upright position was hard for them as well; I had to "step" on the front with one foot and push forward and down to lock it upright.Being that I paid less than half price, even if it only works as long as my last 2 vacuums, it is well worth it to me. However, I will see how well it works in the long run and edit my review.

This may not be the bargain I thought it would be!
May 25, 2017
The cord re-tractor failed the second time I used the machine. The book says, "call Hoover." They said it needs to be "reset". and gave me the name of a local repair place - address and phone. The phone was for a different address and they only do warranty repairs at a third site that is not very close to my house. The person at this business was very nice. He advised me to get an extra filter because if I didn't change the filter often enough, Hoover wouldn't honor the warranty when the motor fails. He also said not to expect the machine to last very long - it is made in China, and also I may have to wait up to seven weeks for Hoover to approve the repair and supply the part. It is apparently not s simple fix - a part needs to be replaced and I can expect it to fail again. I've used the machine twice - I bought it to replace a 50 yr old cheap Kenmore that I can't get parts for to use in my basement. I guess I'll use it as long as it lasts. Fortunately I got it at a good price.
Lack of switch for rotating brushes brings down rating
December 21, 2016
Great vacuum at a really great price (I think it has been discontinued). A Consumer Reports "best buy". It works fine, except 1) It is too heavy for my wife to carry up and down the stairs, 2) It is too big to easily use on the stairs, and more importantly, 3) There is no switch to turn off the rotating brush (as there is with all of their more expensive vacuums). So if you want to park the vacuum in a carpeted room and work on the drapes or a set of sofa cushions, the brushes will just keep turning merrily away in the same spot on your carpet, trying to dig a hole through the floor. You have to bring a board or something to set it on, I guess … or turn it on its side for this kind of work. This one problem caused this review to be 3 stars instead of 4 -- it's a real pain.
Messy bagless process.

I bought this vacuum in January 2014. Overall it continues to work fairly well. Each time I vacuum the carpets that canister fills up. It's obviously picking up lots of dirt and dust.

It doesn't do well along baseboards. I use the hand tools for that.

The main thing I do not like is the bagless feature. Cleaning the canister is messy work. Sure, with the push of a button it theoretically empties into the trash. However, if you don't have it deep into a trash can or some other bag, dust flies all over. No matter what, the outside of the canister has to be wiped down afterwards. But it doesn't all come out readily. I guess my carpets have a lot of fibers because the canister is often jammed when I finish. And its sticks in the canister such that I need to use my hands or a pencil or something else to get it to come out. I always feel dusty and dirty after cleaning it.

I also have to very carefully pay attention so that I don't overextend the cord. It is very difficult to retract it if that happens. And I seem to always want more length!

In a way I hope it doesn't last long because I want a different (less messy)vacuum. But I will use this as long as it continues to lick up dirt.
Good Hoover, not great delivery condition
January 18, 2016
We all want a dyson, but for twice or more of the price? Ive been pretty happy with this, it's got a HEPA filter, although I'm not sure it's replaceable yourself. The normal filter comes out for cleaning easily, and it's pretty lightweight. The cord is ok length but could be a little longer to allow a 20' living room to be covered. My house doesn't have many sockets and I can manage successfully throughout though to get to the back of a walk in with no sockets and be plugged in in the bedroom.
Emptying is simple. The dust chamber pulls out on its carry handle with one click and then when you get to the trash can you can either flap open the bottom and empty or if something is stuck you can unscrew the chamber fully to get rid of anything. Also this works easily for the washing of it. (I if a lot of plaster dust at first and wanted to keep it clean after).

The attachments for niche cleaning are good and I particularly like the upholstery attachment for cleaning the sofa. I found that very good and made a big difference to see all the crumbs gone from under and on top of the cushions.

The cable has an auto retract which is useful. My only gripe would be that sometimes i feel like it could have a tiny bit more suction power, but on the whole it's pretty flawless. For such a low price really you can't go wrong.

I've taken off two stars because the first item I got had been opened and clearly was not new so I sent it back win it even unpacking. The replacement when it arrived was also opened but wasn't in such an obviously used condition and by this time is lost patience with sending it back again so unpacked it. I'd have preferred a pristine item which I'd have had confidence in and was a bit upset by this as I've never had this kind of issue with Amazon before. Anyway it worked fine so it's still with me.
Good suction but a nuisance to use
October 25, 2015
I've had this vacuum since 2011 and it still has good suction. However, note that for most of those years I had a housecleaning service so this vacuum was not used frequently and was not the main vacuum for the whole house. My primary complaint is that the belt comes off almost every time that I vacuum for more than a few minutes and I have to wait for the vacuum to cool off before replacing the belt because of hot metal pieces near the belt. It is rather difficult to properly position the belt back in to place. So much for a quick vacuum. When the belt is off, it has no suction at all except through the attachments. I have a lot of hard surface flooring and must use attachments to vacuum them because otherwise it blows so much cat hair and lint around and does a poor job. The upside to using the attachments is that it retains suction without the belt. It is generally easy to empty but not terribly pleasant as I have to use my fingers to pull clumps of hair, dust, lint and debris from different areas. I'm keeping this vacuum for a bit longer while shopping carefully for another. I have owned a couple other Hoover WindTunnel models in the past (that used bags) that were much better vacuums. I definitely would not buy this vacuum again.

It's fine for a cheap vacuum
May 31, 2017
It's fine for a cheap vacuum. It does an OK job of sucking things up. I choose it because it is lightweight and I have medical issues. It is much lighter than most vacuums, but it is so small and short and the hose doesn't stretch far, so I have to do a lot of bending to get to corners or behind/under furniture. It's almost like a kid-size vacuum. To vacuum my carpeted stairs I have to lift the whole thing up, it's extremely awkward. Almost impossible to vacuum wall/ceiling corners because the hose doesn't stretch far enough without lifting the entire vacuum. The cord is short, so even in my small house I have to constantly unplug it to vacuum different areas. Bottom line, it didn't work for my medical issues, and after using it for a year or so, I grew to really dislike vacuuming, and finally bought something better (the Severin S'Special Cordless, which is by far the best vacuum I've ever used). If you are on a tight budget, it will get you by for a while, but if you can spare a few extra bucks, opt for something better.
Get ready to buy so many belts!
May 2, 2017
This vacuum is okay for a cheap vacuum. It works well enough, cleans easily. I, however, have probably spent more on vacuum belts in the last two years than I have on the vacuum itself. Maybe it's just me, but I am constantly burning out the belts whether it be on the tassles on my rugs, a loose sock or scarf hidden under the couch, a loose ribbon (my cat sabotaging me), cat toy (cat's fault again, obviously), etc. It burns out immediately, no time to hit the vacuum off before it burns out yet again.
Good carpet cleaner, but brushroll cannot be turned off, so useless otherwise
December 25, 2016
This small vacuum cleaner does a very good job on my medium pile carpetting, but the brushroll cannot be turned off, so it is useless on my hard floors or with the hose accessories. Even with the vacuum locked into the upright position the brushroll continues to run, so if you attempt to use the hose accessories with the vacuum sitting on the floor, the vacuum either grinds up the carpet with the brushroll bristles or it tries to propel itself away. So basically, you have to hold it off the floor continuously when using it this way. Also, as others have mentioned, the dirt cup capacity is very small and the power cord is very short. On the positive side, the filtration system is excellent, and emptying and cleaning the vacuum is very easy.
Okay if you buy it on sale, because the quality doesnt match the list price.
July 8, 2016
I bought this at supposedly 50% off on the Amazon daily deals, so I was expecting the quality of an $80 vacuum. However, I would have to say that its worth right about what I paid for it.What I like about it:1. Its light weight, which makes it easy to use and perfect for doing my stairs.2. Its easy to empty the canister and keep it clean.3. The onboard attachments are nice for sucking the dog hair off of my leather sofa.4. The smaller size fits better into smaller corners and under stuff and takes up less space to store.5. The hose is super easy to lock back into place after using it.What I DON'T LIKE:1. I can feel air blowing on my face while operating it.2. The hose is super short, so I have to lift the entire vac to reach stuff.3. The handle has a little bit of play in it while pushing back and forth.4. It doesn't seem to pick up as much dirt as my last $80 vac (so its good that I got it at half price). Its a small vac that is good for picking up surface dirt and easy to push around and empty. I just wouldn't recommend paying full price for it.PICTURE shows it next to a full size vac.
Do your homework before buying one
July 7, 2016
I would give it five stars except for one thing: the beater brush spits about 1/3 of the dust and dirt right back toward my ankles when I use it on either my floors or rugs. So I actually have to sweep up after using it - but it DOES get the worst of the mess and it is great at sucking up cat hair. Considering I got it as a daily deal for just $40, it's absolutely worth what I paid for it. It replaces a $20 Dirt Devil stick vac that was just a dustbuster on a stick, and virtually useless against cat fur. So yes, I am getting my money's worth. It is lightweight and perfect for my small, two-room apartment. I don't regret the purchase; I just wish it didn't spit at me.
Inexpensive if somewhat Cheap Vacuum Cleaner
November 16, 2015
Cheap, as in Inexpensive, Vacuum CleanerDoesn't do well on hard floors. Leaves fir needles, small pebbles, and other things tracked in with waffle stompers (I have three fiber mats outside, and a rug inside - but still get stuff tracked in). Tried picking up a dry leaf, and no go... oddly, there seems to be plenty of air flow, but the way the head is constructed the flow doesn't turn into a string vacuum. To be honest, my battery powered vacuum picks up almost as well... but I was hoping this would do better with the needles. On rugs it does a fair job... but my $150 bagless Hoover did a lot better.Quality wise, I'd rate it typical to lower end. The detent that keeps it standing is rather firm, and takes a concerted effort to unfold and fold. Cord storage is laughable, but if you are patient it works. Roller Brush is ON - can't turn it off when doing bare floors (probably why it does a poor job with fir needles). In the end, you get what you pay for.

We must have gotten the defective one...
April 14, 2017
We purchased this vacuum 3-4 months ago. We have your typical loop pile (normal) home carpet that is in very good condition. When I first used the vacuum, I noticed it didn't pick up all the items on the floor in one pass and it typically took two or three passes. I just assumed I was going to fast and then tried lowering the setting. Then my wife a few weeks later had the same experience, but now she has it set to the lowest setting. She complains that it has very poor suction towards the edges and has a hard time picking up items along base boards or corners. She sometime uses it on the hardwood kitchen floor for a quick cleaning and is not impressed at all. Now the furniture attachment brush roller has stopped turning and only the suction works. We are not happy with this item, especially after all the great reviews we read about prior to our purchase. Then again, we expected a lot better from a well branded company like Hoover.
Great on carpet, Poor on hard/tile floors
March 20, 2017
This works great on carpet, it was really suctioning good. Unfortunately, it did not pick up dirt well on any of my hard/tile floors even right out of the box and also the first time I used it, it overheated and I had to wait a few hours before vacuuming rest of the house and subsequently every time thereafter . I bought this as opposed to replacing the turbinehead to my canister Dyson. I thought instead of spending $85 on one part, I would just replace my 6 year old vacuum. I did like the cord rewind feature, very nice, but the cord, as well as hose, were too short for my liking. The head of this vacuum is also large and couldn't fit in spots I needed it to. The other reason I only gave it 2 stars is because after only having it less than 60 days, it got a clog in it somewhere and is no longer suctioning. I have taken it apart twice, even ran something through the hose, the head, and the spot where it goes from head into the canister and cannot find the clog. You get what you pay for and I shouldn't have tried replacing my $400 Dyson with a $85 Hoover. If all you have are carpets, and are handy to take apart the vacuum to find clogs, it is a good price point and will clean carpet well. If you have a decent amount of hard/tile floors you like to vacuum, don't waste your money.
Not a good vacuum for Pet owners!
January 4, 2016
I have own this for over a year. I have both used it over hard wood and tile floors and it does not pick the dirt that well. I own two dogs who love to bring in small dirt and rocks in the house and a dog that sheds. I had to buy an extesion tube since the tube that comes with the vacuum is not long enough for you to stand upright to use. I also had to buy an floor adaptor as well since this only come with a small curtain brush. When I use the tubes with my adaptors there is no suction and hardly any dirt gets picked up. When I use the low floor settings on I can feel the dirt hit the back of my legs instead of going into the vacuum which then I have to re-vacuum the area I just vacuum. I might as well use a broom and pick up the dirt on the floor. I use it on my rugs and I it's okay. I owned a dirt devil before this vacuum and it was far better on cleaning my rugs. The tank is a pain to clean up when you have long female hair and dog hair combined. You will have to get your hands in the tube to clean out the hair that sticks to the vents, yuck! I am looking into buying another vacuum since this one his horrible. What I do like about this vacuum is that the cord is pretty long so I dont have to unplug as much. I will just save this until my nephew goes to college and I will give it to him.
Great while it lasted, but overall a waste
November 27, 2015
When I first bought this vacuum, I thought it had a really great cost-benefit ratio. It has some thoughtful design features, including a detachable hose that *clicks* in place so it doesn't pop out all the time while you're using it, a retractable cord, an easily removable filter, and attachments that don't pop off all the time. The suction was great, and I was surprised at how much dirt and lint I was able to get out of the rugs. I would have to empty the bin after each rug.

Unfortunately, after about 9 months of use, I noticed that there was less suction. The suction continued to decrease until I could vacuum 3 rugs and there was less than an inch of debris in the bin. Now, about a year and a half after purchase, it just stopped working. It won't turn on.

I hate to think of all this plastic and motor going in the trash after such a short life cycle.
Worked great until the filter clogged, when hose clogs several screws to remove to clear it
April 22, 2015
I loved this machine because it picked up dirt and hair so quickly. I had to empty it every 5 minutes or less, but the house was cleaner and smelled better. (4 Kids, 2 cats and 1 big dog) After vacuuming approx. 1000sf every day for almost 3 weeks, the filter clogged. I bought and it picks up nothing. No prob until the HOOVER REPLACEMENT FILTER (ordered from Hoover) did not work. Air will not flow through it. 24 hrs.,minimum, is required to dry the original filter, which is too long to be without a vacuum. I hope that I can send it back. :(
Replacement doesn't work as well as prior unit, filter holding up so far. If the hose get clogged you have to take several parts held together by screws to take the hose off to clear the clog. I love it when it works, high maintenance. I do NOT recommend.

I was very disappointed in this vacuum cleaner
January 9, 2017
I was very disappointed in this vacuum cleaner. It's made with all plastic parts and cheaply made. It is also small in size, so there is not much room to hold the debris. it works fine but I expected so much more from a brand name like Hoover. The hose is also too short and doesn't stretch very far. If you want a good quality vacuum cleaner, I don't recommend purchasing this one.
You get what you pay for.
September 3, 2016
Disappointed. Was going to return it but costs $13.50 to ship it back, no free returns on it.The thing I'm the most frustrated with is that when I'm vacuuming in my kitchen and go along the cabinets to get under the edge, it hits the release button to the suction hose and it pops out. I had to stop and re-attach it 3 times just doing my small kitchen. Now I have to try to vacuum from the other side or at different angle to help prevent that. Still very annoying. This is a VERY lightweight vacuum. It does pretty well on hard floors, although the agitator doesn't turn off even when setting is on bare floor or attachment tools are being used. Carpet is another story. I read the reviews and some people said it was great on carpet. I'm have to wonder if we have the same vacuum because my opinion is that it does not do very well on carpet, particularly with dog hair. It seems to pick up just on the surface of the carpet but certainly doesn't get anything down in the carpet. I felt like my carpet wasn't really clean when finished. Fortunately, we don't have much carpet in our house. The things I do like about the vacuum are no bags to replace, it's not heavy to lift, when turned sideways it's the exact width of my stairs so it makes it easy to vacuum them, and I can hold it by the canister handle making it easier to clean the stairs or to pick it up when using the wand to clean up high.If you're looking for an inexpensive vacuum and you don't have a lot of carpet then this one is fine. If you have animals who shed a lot or have long hair (ours are lab mixes) then this isn't a great choice, spend a little more and get a stronger machine. I don't anticipate this holding up well as I've only used it about 4-5 times and it's already making a high pitched squeaking noise sometimes when pushing it back & forth. Glad I purchased the extra warranty for $3.50.I didn't return it but I certainly wouldn't buy it again.
Fast shipping but not good condition
August 31, 2016
Before I bought it, I was satisfied due to the great reviews. When I received it, I was so disappointed. The box was damaged not due to shipping--It absolutely a returned item, and not only returned once but several times--anyone can notice that due to the box condition. Everything messed up in the box. The most "interesting" thing is that there is NO USER`S MANUAL!!! Even though there is a PDF version on website, I do not believe that Hoover does not provide physical manual for their users. If you want to sell returned item, at least please include every necessary parts in a box with good condition. Since the vacuum body is not broken, I have tried to use it--It is not strong enough as I expected, and I have to tries a couple of times to clean some small pieces on the floor. Also, the handle part is not tight enough, and it is a little bit shaking. I am afraid that it won`t last for a long time of using.
they are almost useless. Cheaply made
July 6, 2016
Unfortunately I did not use this product enough before the return window closed or I would have returned it. It doesn't work well at all. The attachments are so tiny, they are almost useless. Cheaply made. Blows air out near the top. I have to sweep or swiffer after vacuuming with this thing EVERY time. Spend a little more and get something better. It may be fine on all carpet, but I have not had luck with it in my small apartment that is half wood floor, half carpet.
Not impressed
August 18, 2015
Very cheap vacuum. Only bought for our camper, used 3-4 times & doesn't pick up much. Also makes loud noise. I have bought a vacuum for $25.00 that is better than this one. Would never buy for house or apartment. It can't even clean up my camper floors.
Great little vac for the price
December 20, 2013
**I am editing my review from 4 stars to 2 stars. After minimal use over the past year-ish, I finally threw this in the trash. My boyfriend prefers to use our big canister vac and I bought this upright to be able to pick up quick messes. The canister fills up very quickly. I would sometimes have to empty it 2-3 times to completely clean my dining room. Yes, I have 2 dogs and 5 kids so my carpets get dirty fast. Although I only have 3 rooms and a set of stairs with carpet and it was not our regular use vacuum. However, this vacuum constantly clogged. I was always digging stuff out of the hose and having to take off the bottom to pull out little pieces of string. The final straw was when I tried to clean a clog and the whole bottom fell apart. I chucked it and never looked back. I'm still on the hunt for a convenient, yet reliable, vacuum. **Just a word of warning if you're purchasing a "like new" vac. I purchased this through the Amazon warehouse for just under $40. Description said "Item is in original packaging, but packaging may come damaged. Item has no cosmetic scratches or blemishes. Item has no cracks or dents. All accessories are present and undamaged. " I figured I'd save myself a few bucks and get a crappy box. My item arrived yesterday in a plain cardboard box and filled with bubble wrap. No original packaging, no accessories. Amazon made it right and issued me a credit for the missing pieces. As far as the vacuum itself, this thing is awesome! I've got a small house and only a few rooms are carpeted. I've also got 5 kids, and animals. My house can go from clean to tornado debris dirty in a matter of minutes. We have a big filter queen canister vacuum that does a great job but is such a pain in the rear to drag out every time a kid dumps crushed pretzels on the floor. I finally made the decision to buy a little upright that I can use in hurry. It works wonderfully. I did a quick sweep of my kitchen (yes, a carpeted kitchen...with those horrible little sticky carpet squares that can't be removed unless I'm ready to redo the whole floor. Thanks genius previous homeowners) and it picked up all kinds of crumbs and pet hair. My house will now be cleaner thanks to this cheap little vacuum. There are lots of little plastic clips and pieces but they seem sturdy enough that as long as I'm not doing professional house cleaning with it, it should last just fine.

Will burn your carpet while using the handtools!!
December 14, 2016
Do not purchase this vacuum if you have high pile carpet or plan to use the hand tools! The roller does not have an option to turn off and if you have the vacuum on the carpet while using the handtools it will melt your carpet (see picture). I also had it up on my couch because the hose isn't very long, so I could vacuum behind the couch and in a matter of minutes is wore a hole in my couch (see picture)!!! It has great suction, but not being able to turn the roller off make this a DO NOT PURCHASE in my opinion. It does have an adjustable roller, but it it still very difficult to vacuum my high pile rug.
Not Happy At All...
November 18, 2016
I have a basic household; two kids, medium sized dog (not a heavy shedder) and a couple of cats. I also have Berber carpet, so nothing with excessive amounts of carpet fuzz or that holds hidden dirt. I clean my carpets often with a carpet cleaner. Seems simple enough, right?

This vacuum has great suction, but it clogs **terribly**. After ~ half way through the room, I have to take it apart to unclog it. The debris never even makes it to the canister! I started sweeping my carpet with a broom thinking that maybe that would help (not sure why, I'm not using it like a shop vac). Nope. Still does it and within a few minutes, the vacuum turns itself off. Overheating? I have no idea. All I know is that I bought it based on the great ratings, have only used it a few times and I am *beyond* frustrated with it.
Nice Vacuum basically with Major Design Flaws.
October 19, 2015
Hoover Windtunnel UH 70120. The cannister that holds the dust & stuff keep falling off! Once it not only fell off but it opened and dumped all over our living room rug! Also, the vacuum hose is supposed to snap back into an inlet after using the attachments and hook on "the hose release button".. It didn't catch several times & snapped back towards my face! Not a good design. I called tech support as the sticker on the back of the vacuum says to do. The lady I spoke with was not concerned about either of my concerns. She's sending me a new cannister (5-7 business days) and told me to twist the vacuum hose in the inset to make certain it caught. Obviously she's heard about these issues before... Twisting the hose isn't in the owner's manual... Also, you have to juggle the hose extension & crevice attachment as there's only a place for one of them, not both.
Problem is I like the vacuum. It's light, picks stuff up nicely and is easy to empty the cannister (if it doesn't explore on its own). I have an 11 yr. old hoover windtunnel that very heavy and awkward but is never going to die. This light one is a nice balance. I will wait until the replacement cannister arrives to see if it stay in place. If not, the vacuum goes back to Amazon & Hoover!
Not worth the money
June 19, 2015
I should have read a lot more reviews before this purchase. As other reviewers have said, this gets extremely hot.. not just the unit itself but also the cord. The debris sticks inside, ever if there is vey little so it has to be manually removed. Have been using a Bissell for years that finally quit on me, I regret not having replaced with the Bissell. I will be returning this vacuum, since I fear that it will go on fire with continued use. There must be a major defect in the workmanship.
... this vacuum for over a year and #1 I hate it and #2 I will never ever buy another ...
January 18, 2015
I have had this vacuum for over a year and #1 I hate it and #2 I will never ever buy another Hoover. I have lost track of all the things that broke or went wrong with this vacuum - most in the first 6 months. Some of the highlights:
The canister CONSTANTLY comes unclipped from the base. When I'm carrying it, vacuuming with it, or wheeling it (gently -because if you touch this thing in any manner other than gently, something breaks off of it). The whole canister is held in place by one small clip at the top. If the canister doesn't fall completely off dumping its contents all over then it comes loose and all suction power is lost.
The cord retraction mechanism tends to wind the cord up in a way that binds the cord on itself. It can be very difficult to get the cord to release and within a few month my cord had several cuts and bends in it and two places where the insulation was exposed due to this binding. Also the plastic piece that frames the cord inlet and keeps the cord from rubbing on something with a sharp edge completely fell off (plastic cracked) within 6 months.
The hose is narrow and has some sharp bends where it reconnects to the machine. This causes the hose to get plugged up easily. Then for anything to work the whole thing has to be cleaned out.
I use my vacuum a lot, but use is totally normal: indoor, small house (1200 sq ft), a few rugs, no carpet, no outdoor or garage use whatsoever.
Prior to this vacuum I had a Bissel that worked well for 10 years. I think I will take another look at Bissels. Thought I would give Hoover a try with this one - but it seems you get what you pay for.

Buying a good broom would have been a better investment.
July 11, 2017
I bought this in February, and even with the maintenance and cleaning of the vacuum recommended in the handbook it completely broke and stopped working just barely 5 months into it's use. Prior to that it would more move the dirt around than really clean which is not at all what I think anyone looks for in a vacuum.I would not recommend this as I feel I didn't get nearly what I paid for.

Vacuum is terrible. Worked okay for a few months or so but that's all. Pieces that hold the suction tubes in place and the hand piece in place always pop out. Dust and particles occasionally spill back out after being picked up. After having about a year or so, it completely stopped working. I get that it's cheap and not going to be powerful but it should still be in working condition after a few months. It's a piece of garbage and because of it, will never buy a hoover product again especially when looking for a more expensive model.

October 10, 2016
I don't get why this has so many good reviews. My old vacuum that I purchased at the same price point finally gave out, so I purchased this one after reading all the reviews. I have a dog that sheds a lot no matter what I do. I need a vacuum that actually works. This vacuum barely picks up little pieces of whatever on my hardwood floors and only sucks up 2/3 of the fur on my low pile carpet. Literally the carpet is woven, so the fur just sits on top of it. I pick up more dog fur if I use my hands. Save your money and look at another vacuum if you have pets that shed.
Learn from my mistake: DO NOT BUY!
October 1, 2016
It hasn't even been three months since I bought it, and it has already stopped working. Do not buy this. You will sorely regret wasting your money. Hoover used to make quality products, but this is no longer the case.
I thought HOOVER was a great name in vacuums- maybe it was when I was a kid but now - get a SHARK!
December 10, 2015
I bought this vacuum based the great customer reviews but I must have received a bad one. From the very beginning it didn't work as well as our previous Hoover. But I thought for $53 it was ok. We have mostly hardwood and area rugs. But as time went on it seemed to get worse. Finally we looked closely and the hose was almost completely separated from the base (where the suction comes from)! It wasn't torn or ripped, simply separated like it never had been attached!I thought - no problem - my 1 year warranty will help me so I took it to an authorized dealer/service center and was told that it was considered a standard use issue and was not covered by the warranty! He said he had so many of them come in with this issue and he knew that Hoover would tell him that. He said I could contact Hoover directly so I did and they told me what the dealer said - normal use and not covered by the warranty. Are you kidding!!! We used it for 5 months about 1x per week (maybe 21 times) and this is normal use?The customer service person gave me a phone number for their Escalation Dept. which turned out to be the phone # for a park! I emailed her back to see if she transposed numbers but she hasn't answered...of course.I am so disappointed! I thought HOOVER was a great name in vacuums. Maybe it was when I was a kid but now - get a SHARK!Hoover Sprint QuickVac Bagless Upright, UH20040
