I absolutely love this vacuum
February 3, 2017
I absolutely love this vacuum. I've had for about a year now and it still amazes me how well it works. Most of my life, I've used cheap $50 vacuums, all bagless, and they all kicked it within the first year. This guy is still going strong. My seven year old can use it. It's so light weight and maneuverable. It works well on my kitchen floor and I use it on my couch. I have a Pomeranian so pet hair is pretty much my life. This vacuum takes care of it no problem. I keep trying to convince my cheap mom to buy one :).
Boy are we happy.

We've got 40 year old wall to wall all wool carpets. Not the easiest then to vacuum. After our 15 year old Dyson broke ,decided instead of calling dyson customer service again. Was going to try something different.

Decided to take the plunge and get the Oreck. Boy are we happy! Our carpets have never been cleaner. It was picking up debris I didn't even know we had. And out matted carpet are fluffy again. And the light weight makes it a pleasure to use.
AWESOME VACUUM. *GREAT* for pet hair, don't listen to the people who say its not good for pet hair.
August 12, 2016
So I bought this vacuum cleaner as a replacement for a Shark Professional Lift Away canister vaccum. The shark had some issues, namely:

1. It had an attachment tube through which all the suction power at some point went. This tube was made of a material that kept cracking and we had to duct tape it. In the end it was more tape than tube and this led to a loss of suction.
2. I was absolutely SICK of emptying the canister and digging out pet hair and inhaling the dust and cleaning the filter etc. It was nasty.

My wife and I made a deal for the housework. She would do the downstairs and I the upstairs. Since the upstairs is 100% frize carpet, the vacuum quickly became a point of contention for me.

I did my research (A LOT OF IT) and came to Oreck. I didn't feel like shelling out 500+ dollars for one of the super top of the line home versions that are aesthetically pleasing and instead opted to pocket the cash and buy this workhorse for 150 bucks. And I am IMPRESSED.

We have 3 dogs and a cat. The dogs are a Siberian Husky, a German Shepard, and a St. Bernard. Needless to say we a have a LOT of pet hair. Some reviewers have mentioned that they didn't think the oreck was effective for this. These people are lying to you. Our carpets are now amazingly clean. This thing sucks up debris and pet hair like nothing I've ever seen. Its a BEAST. And its lightweight. The bags hold a LOT and when its time to change them out you just pull em, toss em and replace em.

They are cheap. I've been through 2 in a month and got a 25 pack for like 15 bucks. Get the scent tabs. You can really smell them at first, after the first couple of days you cant smell anything, which hopefully is the point.

Some people have mentioned a burning rubber smell when they started using the vaccuum. I noticed this too, but I think it is just a burn in phenomenon as it quickly went away.

The replacement and maintenance parts (belt/roller) are both on amazon for under 10 bucks. I expect to change the belts and rollers on occasion and have this vacuum for a decade.

It doesn't have any attachments. it just cleans the carpets and floors superbly well. We've used it downstairs on wood and rugs and tile with no issues and it has pulled up loose pet hair and cat litter with no problems.

Give it a go. Best vacuum I've ever owned. See pictures for pet hair effectiveness.

If I could give this vacuum more stars I would. I had an oreck before and then tried a shark vacuum. All the shark did was move the dirt around and picked up very little. It took forever to vacuum my house. I bought this oreck and it is awesome. Takes about 1/2 the time to vacuum the house and it gets more up. Also, if you have dog hair, this is an awesome vacuum. It picks up hair really well. Don't bother with any other brand. This is well worth the money. My last oreck had 2 settings, 1 for hard surfaces and 1 for rugs. This one only has one setting. It is a little loud on the hard surfaces but works great on both.
Orecks are AWESOME !!!

I purchased my second Oreck a month ago... I decided I wanted to keep my first one downstairs and not have to bring it up and downstairs.... my 2nd Oreck is a commercial model... almost vacuums by itself... so very lightweight ... I LOVE it... I clean house for my daughter who is going through chemo... she has a Dyson.... I have a backache for at least a day after using that vacuum... sure do appreciate the light weightness of the Oreck.... but is has ALOT of "suck" power... HIGHLY recommend this vacuum !!!!!

I used to be a HUGE Dyson fan.. their products are good.. but I think they are really over priced.. ($500 for a vac that has the features of this one) This Shark Vac. is simple and it works... it actually works very well.. happy I got it..
Love this vacuums power
December 11, 2016
Love this vacuums power. I had researched the vacuums available until I was sick of vacuums. I had a set of criteria that I was not able to meet with any vacuum for a reasonable price. I took a chance on this product due to Amazon prime shipping and the online reviews and I have not been disappointed. It is quieter than any machine I have owned, it does a nice job grooming the carpet in high traffic hallways, and it gets the very edges by the baseboards. I am very happy with this machine so far.
OH MY GOSH...THIS THING REALLY SUCKS...YOU GOTTA GET ONE!!!
December 9, 2016
The Shark Rotator Professional Lift-Away arrived yesterday afternoon and it took longer to get it out of the box than it did to put it together.

I have a burgundy colored short pile area rug in the living room that has been looking rather shabby of late. It takes about an hour of vacuuming to get all the pet hair (one dog and two cats) with my Dyson Animal canister, so I thought that would be the perfect test for the Shark. Holy cow...this thing really sucks!!!! It picks up ALL the hair with only one or two passes. I did the "Mother-in-Law is coming deep clean" and it only took 15 minutes. I emptied the bin twice!!! I'm too ashamed to post pictures of all the hair and dirt the Shark pulled out of rug, you would think I have never vacuumed, ever, even though I vacuumed the day before and thought it was clean. The Shark really picked up the pile and now it looks new again. Same thing for the bedroom carpets, they look like new. I'm shampooing them all this weekend after seeing how much dirt came out of them.

The Shark has a good sized dust bin and it is super easy to empty. I washed the dust bin and the top sponge filter and it only took about 10 minutes start to finish.

The cord length is great, but kinda gets in the way. I put it through the handle and that really helped. Not too sure about some of the attachments, I think I like the Dyson's better.

Oh, here's another thing I noticed, there's hardly any hair on the vacuum when you finish vacuuming. The hair actually goes into the vacuum!!! My old Kirby and especially the Dyson look like they have grown a winter coat of their own and have to be vacuumed off before they go back in the closet. I just wiped it off with a damp paper towel and put it away.

I'm really impressed with the Shark it works better than I ever imaged it would. Hope it lasts a long time, seems like it will.
BLOWN AWAY!!
April 17, 2016
I have to say I am really impressed. I have had a Dyson for years. Like everyone who owns a Dyson, you think the expensive price tag equals quality. Most of the time this is true. And Dyson has quality. I was hesitant at the price tag considering it was relatively half priec of my previous vacuum.
I was turned on to this unit by a professional flooring inspector. He referred me to a website that does third party testing on vacuum cleaners. This unit was the highest rated among canister vacuums. There a many which have better ratings but I will not buy a vacuum that uses bags.
I opened the box and I was really pleased with the ease of assembly. Instructions are very well written.

I decided to give it a run immediately. Keep in mind, it had only been a couple days since my old vacuum broke. I noticed it brought the pile on the carpet back to life and wasn't too loud. Here is what I was blown away by. (SEE PIC. btw we have two cats lol) Like I said before, it had only been a couple days since we vacuumed last. Well, looks like we made a great choice.

You will not be sorry. On top of all this awesomeness, this unit has a variety of features which I haven't used. It converts to a hand held canister for the stairs too!

Yes very happy.
GAME CHANGER. Just stop looking at the other models. This is worth it (says the mom who hates sweeping 5 times a day)
October 25, 2015
This Vacuum is a complete game changer. I have to disclose: I have never owned the all praised Dyson vacuums. But I do have the children and Pet hair they advertise about. I did a ton of research and reading of amazon reviews to decide on this Shark Rotator Lift away.

1) The Lift away feature is amazing. I read reviews of the canister being too heavy- but that is why the vacuum included the Caddy to drag around. I live in a house with a lot of hardwood floors. This vacuum has helped elimate my need to sweep several times a day. I can use the regular upright attachment for the area rugs, the brush control feature really helps pick up the Black Lab hair that I have embedded in anything fabric.
I use the lift away feature on my stairs every single day. I do not have carpet on these stairs- Split level home. I am able to pick up dirt and dog hair in less than 3 minutes. Makes a huge difference to see clean stairs when entering our home.
2) The upholstry attachment works great on our furniture. Unlike other vacuums I've had in the past, these attachments have 360 movement, and it makes it a lot more comfortable to use this machine.
3) I have used this vacuum in our SUV as well. Again- that lift away feature is amazing. I used the upholstery attachment and the regular hose.
4) Whenever I sucked up things I shouldn't- often in a house with small children accessories- This Rotator was VERY easy to unclog. The hose detached and I was able to pull out whatever without having to get long sticks and swinging the hose around my head like a cowboy. You all know you have had to do it.
5) THE LIGHTS! There are lights on the front of the upright attachment and they make a HUGE difference. I will never have a vacuum without one again.

I am the mother of two, in a house with a dog who sheds and tracks in dirt. This vacuum has made a huge difference for us. I have already tried recommending it to all of my friends on social media.

Exceeded my expectations
March 21, 2016
Exceeded all of my expectations. Exceptionally light vacuum and has (to my surprise) much stronger suction than my Dyson. And it's fantastic on area rugs. I was very bag-averse, but for such a great deal decided to give it a try. Unlike vacuums of yore, this has a TOP-FILL bag so there's no issue with loss of suction. And the bags are very inexpensive, so all good here. The only downside to this vacuum (which I knew going in) is there's no hand held tool to use in hard to reach areas. It does, however, go underneath furniture where my Dyson would never go. All in all I am very pleased with this purchase. I purchased during a special offer and got a great deal.
This vacuum has great suction and picks up most things in its way
December 29, 2015
We ordered two of these to use on carpet squares we just installed in a daycare. This vacuum has great suction and picks up most things in its way. The kids track in a lot of dirt and mud from the playground. Once it dries, the vacuum picks it right up! My only complaint is that its really awkward to roll when propped back for some reason. It doesn't want to roll great. The bottom usually ends up flipping back down. But, its so light that we normally just carry it back to the closet.
Great Vacuum but......
March 11, 2015
This vacuum is very light, has good suction and is easy to use. Only drawback for me is the extra long cord which I ;suppose is essential for commercial use, or a very large house. I find I only release about half the cord for my small house, and leaving the rest wound on the handle makes it much heavier. I COULD release all the cord and eliminate this problem, but the extra length gets in the way., and is not easily rewound. The winding hooks are one on the front and one on the back so there is a twist when wound. That said, I'd buy again as it's doing a great job for me.

I really like how light it is, which is the main reason I purchased this vacuum. I do have a Kirby, but am getting to the point that it's hard for me to bring it up and down the steps and to pull it around to vacuum. I was interested in trying out a Oreck light-weight. I love the power that this machine puts out.

It is disappointing to me though that it doesn't get right up to the edge of the wall. I'm not sure why it doesn't clean right up to the edge, but you can see exactly where the power ends an inch or so from the wall. I like my machine to clean right up to the edge.

Most people complain about the noise, I don't think it's any louder than any other great vacuum.

It also could have sent me one extra vacuum bag, so I wouldn't have to run out and make sure that I have extras on hand.

I gave it four stars though, because of the powerful cleaning suction that it has and also for the lightness of it. I am very satisfied with this new purchase.
Works pretty good
June 11, 2013
I had one of these about ten years ago and loved it. I don't know if cheep vacuums have just gotten better but it is not quite as impressive as it once was. All that said I am still happy with it and would buy over again. I love bags no more emptying and cleaning filters. A bag will last me about six months.
Update I almost want to take off one more star because the bag can come off without you knowing it. I think the last one I had used something to lock it in place. This one does not. I still am happy with it just take 5 seconds to check the bag every time now.

Well designed machine
October 28, 2017
I purchased this item after years of frustration with my Kenmore upright. It is so easy to push, the removable canister makes for easy work for doing work near the ceiling (I used to have.to lift the entire, heavy Kenmore and put it on a chair) and the clean out design is very well thought out. Wherever I went to clean out a jam there was a door, latch, cover which made it a pleasure to work with. I am pleased to have added this to my compliment of other shark products.
Good suction but a heavy load
February 7, 2017
Pros: The suction is fantastic and the roller brushes are strong. Cons: It is heavy!! Be prepared to drag around a heavy load. And there is no space to hang all of the tools on the console. There is redundancy in the tools as well. You don't really need all of them. The machine is overly complicated. If I had it to do over again I would get a simpler and lighter model.
Great suction
January 23, 2017
This has proved to be a good serviceable vacuum for me. It did take me some time to get used to it, but the suction is great and does a credible job in picking up the dog hair. It is a bit on the heavy side and can be awkward to manipulate, especially when you pull the wand out to get those corners. You have to make sure that the vacuum is anchored or it will fall over on the floor when you reach with the wand. The swivel action is helpful in maneuvering it around most corners. I previously had a lighter weight Shark, but it literally fell apart after almost 4 years. This model is definitely sturdier, and the increased suction is a plus. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't as awkward to use as it is.
Nice vacuum in its price range
November 27, 2016
I like this vacuum. I've never had a bagless upright before. Emptying the dust cup isn't a problem. It sucks like crazy. The "powered" upholstery attachment is much better than any I've used before. The ability to detach the motor/dust cup unit and use the vacuum as a cannister is handy for stairs. It was very easy to assemble. I'm not sure about the longevity, but in this price range longevity is generally the tradeoff. I'd like to see more tool storage on the body. It holds 2 attachments.

February 4, 2016
This is an excellent machine. It is amazing how much dirt it does collect. I have a mixed shepherd dog and one cat. The dog sheds way more than I ever imagined. We also live on a farm and due to a government goof we have many Asian lady beetles that are supposed to be eating crop pests in the fields. Unfortunately they love to make our home their winter abode. This vacuum is ideal for sucking them up and then disposing of them outside. Other vacuums work well for this too, but the beetles have a very foul odor so one does not want to leave them in the sweeper for any length of time. It is so handy to be able to dispose of them so easily as well as pet hair etc. The only problem I have had with the vacuum is the very top handle does not disengage easily. I also have difficulty with the cord. It is mounted on the right side of the vacuum and often gets in the way. There is a clip for the cord, but I still find things awkward. Other upright vacuums I have had have the cord on the left or the rear of the machine. Other than those two things I find the unit works very well for me.
Pretty good lightweight
February 24, 2015
Purchased this from G&H Pawn through Amazon. Good seller. Faster than promised and arrived in good shape. I previously owned a Hoover since 1997 which worked great and I loved it, but, with age comes problems. It was just not picking up like it used to and would throw dirt behind it on hard floors because the brush would keep turning. This Shark does not do that and has a separate brush power button which is great. I paid $204 just 5 days ago for this exact same model, so why it has gone up so much in such a short time, I have no idea. My only disappointment was that it is only 10 amps and it is obvious that it is not a powerful as my old hoover 12 amp. This should always be stated in descriptions and I feel it is misleading to leave it out. It cleans well enough for me since i have no pets, but would probably struggle with pet hair. It is also about 3/4 of the width of my old one so I have to make many more passes to clean the same area. It will not go under beds unless you switch to canister which means no power brush for under the bed. It is light weight and not at all heavy and swivels nicely to avoid furniture legs. Will see how it holds up and repost after further use.

Well...
February 6, 2017
I've had it about 2 months. Here are my thoughts.

Needs a light. Can't see what I'm vacuuming.

This vacuum only weighs 8lbs but it is difficult to push. You WORK to vacuum with this thing. It should have some kind of self-propelled feature as it is difficult to push and difficult to direct.

Cord is pretty much heavier than the entirety of the vacuum.

Can't be rolled unless in in vacuuming mode. No back wheels. Again, difficult to control.

Good points include the vacuum being fairly priced. I think I paid about $150 so if it lasts 3 years, I'll be more than happy. It cleans very well. Lots of sucking power. Took fibers out of my shag rug.

Would I buy it again. No. I'll probably get something more expensive that's easier to use.

But I'm relatively happy with this.
Faulty Switch Connectors
January 23, 2017
We have purchased multiples of this model over the last couple of years (probably 6 or 7) for our business. There are many positives (when they're working): Good Suction, Lightweight, Long Cord. However, with almost all, if not all of these, the vacuum suddenly stops working all together. The problem is that the wiring connector inside the handle casing disconnects from the switch. It's easy enough to fix, you just put it back on, but in another couple of weeks, it works it's way off again. This has happened with multiple vacuums that were bought months and years apart, so it's not just a batch manufacturing batch, but a design flaw. One that would be easy to fix, don't know why they haven't.
Oreck Vacuum
December 29, 2016
I am pleased with the light weight. It does not move easily on carpet and the wire to connect is a thick tubing which is clumsy to handle. But at 92 yrs I find my old vacuum was too heavy to move.
ORECK, what were you thinking?
June 16, 2015
I do like the light weight, large bags, long chord, no doubt! But the vacuum only handles even surfaces and very thin carpets well.
On thick and heavy carpets it is unpleasant to handle, it cannot be adjusted. The connection between the lower and the upper part is wobbly and a failure waiting to happen. So three stars is already pushing it, not possibly more!
Loud
March 6, 2015
Super loud with a lot of vibration. Plus, it is not dual speed which I had not realized when I ordered it although it no longer really matters. I gave my really good Oreck to my daughter who needs the dual speed and the light. It was over 10yrs old and still running like new.

This one still cleans great and I'm sure it will last for years, just like my last Oreck.

I love Shark and thought I would upgrade to this model but it isn't quite what I had in mind it was. Works great tho and easy to clean. Great suction power that is beyond others.
I was expecting something better based on reviews
February 18, 2017
I was expecting something better based on reviews. It does well on a variety of surfaces, including hard wood, rugs and carpet. I can't help but feel like the diversity of the product compromises the functionality. The ability for every part of the vacuum to detach causes some parts to detach at will. There doesn't seem to be any coherent storage solution on the vacuum for the extra parts, which means you have to often carry with you the extra vacuum heads you might need. Overall, the vacuum does its job but if I had to choose a vacuum all over again- I would pick differently.

February 15, 2017
Nice vacuum but is kinda heavy and tippy. My arms hurt after I use it from the weight of it. I also seem to knock it over a lot and the cord seems to be in a strange spot it seems to be in the way some and I'm always stepping on it while using it
Lift Away does not work with the main rug beater on this version.
September 22, 2016
So far, this vacuum has performed the best in suction and cleaning. HOWEVER, I would have liked for the "lift away" part to work with the large rug beater as I need to vacuum rugs underneath couches and beds and dressers. From the photos and description I couldn't tell if it did or not. The canister "lifts away" from the rug beater (which is rendered useless from this point) and then is placed on a rolling carrier. From there, you have to add attachments like a hard floor attachment, or the crevice attachment, or a smaller rug beater for cleaning furniture or stairs. Don't buy if you think it's the one on the TV commercial!
Great customer support, meh product
August 28, 2016
This is a nice vacuum, and it is light weight and does a great job. However within a few months, the unit began over heating within 10 minutes of turning it on. I changed the filters, cleaned it out, checked for blockages. Nothing helped. Finally today I called Shark and after going through a bit of tech support, I'm sending my vacuum back and am getting a new one for free. Great customer support. I'm hoping I got a dud, and that the vacuum is up to my 3 cat, 7 bird household. I'll see when I get the new one.

It works pretty good. The hose does not stretch long enough and I was under the impression that it came with the Multi-Angle Dusting Brush - X15FC500 because it says it in the 'Product Description' (see below in the last line).Product DescriptionThis upright vacuum is three vacuums in one: a powerful upright, a Lift-Away pod for portable cleaning and a convenient canister vacuum. With the upright feature of this Shark Rotator Lift Away Vacuum, you never lose suction. The extra-large capacity dust cup and anti-allergen seal trap 99.99 percent of dust and allergens inside the vacuum. Pet owners will appreciate the premium pet-hair tools that come with this Shark Bagless Upright Vacuum. Enhanced swivel steering allows you to get in and around furniture and other obstacles, and the ultra-quiet technology keeps noise levels low. The premium rotator power nozzle comes with headlights and a brushroll shutoff, providing superior performance on both carpets and bare floors. The vacuum also comes with a flexible crevice tool, a canister caddy, a straight suction nozzle and a premium multi-angle tool.

I've loved other Oreck products. This one is a dud. The suction is ok. But it is extremely difficult to push and guide. Thank goodness I only have one short pile rug to vacuum. I will have to buy a different product for my rug and bare floors. I'm very disappointed with this Oreck.

This is one vacuum that works okay on carpet but not hard floors or vice versa. Vendor sent us an add on that raises vacuum head to take care of thick pile on carpet. But it either does not work on hard floors or you have to remove the head each time. I have rolled over pieces of thread or lint on hard floor and this vacuum did not pick it up. December 29, 2014
After our Dyson Animal died, we decided to try something with a bag (rather than buy another bagless option). The Oreck was lightweight and maneuverable, and had decent suction, however the bag connection was a catastrophe so we ended up returning it. In the two weeks we had this vacuum, the bag came off the connection three or four times, which resulted in a huge mess when all the dust and pet hair was blasted all over the inside of the bag housing. After I returned it I was told that there's a connection dock that might have eliminated this issue, but it seemed like more trouble than it was worth...ended up getting another Dyson.

A clog developed in the hose. I was unable to remove the clog. I called Customer Service. They recognizedthe problem and offered to send me a new hose. I don't think that this is the first time they heard of this problem as it was their suggestion to send me the new hose.It turns out that the hose is on a 4-6 week back order. Don't believe the hype!
July 13, 2016
We bought this vacuum 2 years ago based on all of the positive reviews and relative affordability. It is not as light or maneuverable as expected, and most importantly for people with allergies, the seal is not great and we can smell dust whenever we use it (yes, we do clean it). My wife has to take Benadryl after using it. The floors still look dirty after vacuuming. Also, as others have noted, the hose is not very flexible. All in all, very disappointing. We are now going to spring for a Dyson, which we can't really afford but at least we will be able to breathe.

March 5, 2015
What they don't tell you is this vacuum is virtually impossible to use on pile or thick carpets. You can't raise or lower the brushes so when using on thick carpets the suction is so great and the brushes dig into the carpet you literally can't push the vacuum. You can drag it backwadrs but you will get an aerobic workout and ruin your carpet over time . The cannister and attachments work fine and on our wood and tile floors and short nap area rugs it works fine. So we are keeping the vacuum for those areas but they should clearly have a disclaimer that this vacuum is not designed to used on pile or thick carpets.

February 24, 2015
Had this vacuum for just about a year. It was an upgrade for sure from the previous purple shark, but with 5 indoor cats and two dogs only one hypoallergenic, I give up. Is there even a vacuum cleaner made that picks up cat litter? If so I haven't found it, but I digress. I initially thought this did the job very satisfactorily, but it isn't doing it any longer. I have to sweep the hardwood floors first with a broom and use a good old-fashioned dust pan to pick up a pile of litter a day. Totally aggravating, How much must one spend on a vacuum cleaner anyway?

Edited - lasted about 4 months, handle is now broken. Horrible design for a vacuum. The whole handle is held together by a poorly fitting piece of plastic. It works well, in terms of suction, etc., but it is not useable without a handle. I guess I need to look into an Oreck warranty or something.

Works great, very lightweight. No gadgets, but for the price and function, not an issue. Should be performing for us for many years. Used it for a couple months now, no issues.
I am very disappointed in the vacuum
December 6, 2016
I am very disappointed in the vacuum. It doesn't have a button to raise it over heavy duty carpeting! It is very hard for mr to use! Had I known it didn't have this option, I wouldn't have ordered it
Don't buy an Oreck if you have pets!
April 2, 2016
This vacuum was the biggest waste of money. Do not buy this vacuum or a similarly designed vacuum from Oreck if you have pets, because there is a design flaw. The brush roller and bearing assembly can't handle pet hair. One of my bearings seized with dog hair and overheated within 30 minutes of use. Here is Orecks warranty policy:

Oreck's limited warranty is valid only if you retain proof of purchase from Oreck or an Oreck authorized retail dealer for this product. If you purchase this product from any other source, your purchase is "AS IS," which means Oreck grants you no warranty, and that you, not Oreck, assume the entire risk of the quality and performance of this product, including the entire cost of any necessary servicing or repairs of any defects.
Broke within 5 months
September 29, 2015
Bought this may 21st, it's already not working. It won't turn on. Would love to see the sellers contact me and send a new one and take this one back. A $300 vaccum should last WAY longer then this.
I loved our previous Orek vacuum but this one seems to ...
July 28, 2015
I loved our previous Orek vacuum but this one seems to be made very poorly. I have only been using it for a couple months and pieces have already started to come off. I sent to replace the bag and realized that the part that connected it had broken off. Unfortunately there is only a 30 day replacement window, not enough time to realize the poor quality before it is too late.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
August 28, 2017
The vacuum was delivered on June 21, 2017, and died on August 28, 2017. Nothing happened during the less than 12 times it was used which would have caused it to quit working except for poor quality of the unit. Trying to deal with their customer service was frustrating at best. The worst part is that they stick their customers with paying the shipping costs to replace products that are under warranty. I cannot recommend either the product or the company.
Company is not honoring the five-year warranty
August 15, 2017
Caution: company is not honoring the five-year warranty. As I write this review, you are able to download a pdf copy of the warranty from within the amazon product description. The company refers to the bottom portion of this vacuum as a "floor nozzle" (i.e., the part that you roll along the floor, which contains the brush, belt, small motor and electronic circuitry). This is the part that failed on our unit after 2 years and 8 months. It is a major part of the vacuum, not a consumable item, yet the company is excluding it from being covered. The warranty is written in a pretty straightforward manner. If you take the time to read it, you will see no language that could possibly be interpreted to exclude a major part such as the floor nozzle. It almost appears as if they have accumulated enough positive reviews to disregard the promises of their warranty and/or the effects of a negative review like this one...perhaps if enough people click that this review is helpful, it will rise to a prominent position so that more buyers can make an informed decision. Following is a transcript of my conversation with their customer service for your own assessment:Chat started: 2017-08-15 04:51 PM UTC(04:51:19 PM) Visitor 37898665 is now known as Joe P.(04:51:19 PM) Joe P: I have a Shark Rotator Professional (NV 501 31) purchased from amazon on 12/8/2014 with 5 year warranty. Brush does not spin and it is not belt. Called your warranty service department and confirmed via troubleshooting procedures that it I am doing everything correctly and that it is not working. Person I spoke with then stated that the part would not be covered. Before I contact amazon and/or leave a review, I wanted to confirm that the warranty would not be honored.(04:51:32 PM) *** Pauline joined the chat ***(04:52:12 PM) Pauline: Thank you for contacting Shark|Ninja®, my name is Pauline, I would be more than happy to assist you with this, Joe.(04:53:42 PM) Pauline: May I ask do you have your unit with you? I would like to do some troubleshooting with you.(04:55:18 PM) Joe P: Yes, but if we confirm again that it is broken, will the warranty still not be honored?(04:57:13 PM) Pauline: I do apologize, the floor nozzle is not covered under warranty. You would need to purchase the floor nozzle on our website.(05:00:07 PM) Joe P: The problem I'm having is that the warranty does not exclude that item, and I believe that other reviewers on amazon claimed to have had it replaced under the warranty. It does not seem legal the way the warranty is worded. At a minimum, it is highly misleading.(05:01:45 PM) Pauline: I am very sorry Joe. We can replace it if its under the first year. However, the customer will pay for the shipping. After the first year you would have to purchase this.(05:04:10 PM) Joe P: I just re-read the warranty, and there is no such wording. Again, it just does not seem legal.(05:04:31 PM) Pauline: I am very sorry for this Joe.
when using a tool like the bare floor tool
May 31, 2017
Wish I'd never bought it, too heavy to use the lift off top efficiently, when using a tool like the bare floor tool, there's no easy reach without the whole unit tipping over. There buttons for this, buttons for that, release thingies for one thing, click in place for others.I'll give it 2 weeks, and will be back to edit this review.I gave it one month. I promised an edit. The good: the very best suctioning vacuum I've had ever. And I mean after owning vacs for 50 plus years. The ability to easily decrease suction is helpful when factoring carpet thickness. The bad: Using the lift-away feature. Nearly impossible to use the little red button to release the handle. I did call customer service today, and they're sending me a replacement wand. Will edit again when it arrives.
Buyer beware...warranty does not apply unless you purchase directly from Shark
June 13, 2016
I purchased this 11 months ago and it stopped working today. The motor seized and there is no suction. What I should have researched before this purchase is Shark's crappy warranty which only applies to purchases made directly through their website. What a waste of a couple hundred dollars!
Broke after 2 weeks and Shark doesn't care
December 2, 2015
This is a terrible vacuum cleaner that broke after only 2 weeks. The brush doesn't turn and the lights won't come on. After a long trip through Shark's customer service phone system, they agreed only to send us replacements parts and we HAVE TO MAKE OUR OWN REPAIRS. This is a pathetic response for a well known brand of vacuum that is advertising constantly. They should have replaced the new vacuum that doesn't work. We will NEVER buy Shark products again.
looks very nice and sharp
March 9, 2015
I got the shark rotator, looks very nice and sharp; suction is great but less than 6 months after I bought it, the red clip that holds the hose in the back broke. Without the clip the vacuum hose come out every time that you try to use it and it doesn't seals correctly so there is a lot of dust everywhere Called Shark 800-798-7398, and they told that they did not have a replacement part, you can try to use it like that or call us at a later time we may have a replacement part. Or You can send us the vacuum back and we can fix it, but you have to pay shipping and both ways around $90.00, or you can pay $100.00 and we can send you a new one with another 5 years warranty.Got my new vacuum, but not accessories came, the cable in the vacuum is shorter, I called their customer service again and they told, well you should keep your accessories what did you did with them?. And about the cable, well you got an upgraded model so the cable is shorter. Can I speak to a supervisor, sure I will write your name in the waiting list they should call you in 24hrs.
