price plus effectiveness equals VALUE
December 19, 2016
I waited a few months before writing my review of this little sucker. The power of this baby is rather incredible. I purchased this for personal use in my bedroom, I have a big shark for the rest of the house. My bedroom has a couple of area rugs, and hard wood flooring. VonHaus sucker transitions from the rugs to the floor without a hitch. I LOVE this vacuum. I use it almost every day as I have a "thing" about clean floors. I purchased the extra filters but have not had to change the filter yet after these months of almost daily use. It's not the easiest thing to empty since you have to pull the head off to open the canister but at this price who could give a damn. Also, other reviewers have mentioned the loudness of the unit, but again, did you see the price!? I would rather have the power than less engine noise. If what concerns you is PRICE and EFFECTIVENESS then this is a no-brainer. Perfect extra vacuum. I would like to have one in every room of the house.
Compact, 2 in 1, very strong suction.

This vacuum is great. The price is well priced for being both a hand held vacuum and a upright vacuum. Also, I did not expect it to work as well as it does and it took me by surprise when it cleaned my area rug very well considering that it does not have spinning bristles at the bottom of the vacuum, it works great because the suction is so strong. This vaccuum is also compact and light weight so it is not a hassle to carry it up and down the stairs.
GREAT!!!

I just received these today and they all came with the mesh!! Very happy with this order!
Makes Vacuuming Fun!
January 24, 2015
The VonHaus 600W 2-in-1 Upright Stick vacuum is the best domestic appliance in my home!! After always having hand-me-down vacuums that were heavy and clunky and didn't work very well, this lightweight, compact and powerful vacuum makes cleaning enjoyable and easy. The attachments work great to do detailed cleaning. It also works very well on my jute and woven rugs. I love the option to turn it into a handheld vacuum for quick clean ups. It's only slightly larger than a broom and can be tucked away anywhere for storage. I highly recommend this vacuum!
Changed my life. For real.
January 3, 2015
I really, really hate to vacuum. Like I'd rather go to the dentist and get 6 shots of novocain and have my gums scraped than vacuum. My Oreck is large and clunky, and I hate pulling it out and dragging it along behind me. I avoid vacuuming with such fervor that sometimes I forget where my Oreck even IS. I'm not making this up.

I now have a long-haired dog that sheds, however, and even I couldn't pretend not to see the clumps of dog hair gathering in the corners and along the baseboards. I hate to vacuum so much that I actually cursed myself for not having had the foresight to pick a dog from the shelter that had a hair color that matched my floors better. But since I didn't, and since I'm not taking the dog back (because he's AWESOME), and since even my low standards for floor cleanliness were offended, I decided it was time to look for an alternate vacuum.

I wanted something light and versatile that I would actually use, so I was originally in the market for a cordless stick vac. I had nearly talked myself into spending several hundred dollars on one. Then I read a hot tip from another reviewer, who suggested always reading through the negative comments. When there is a pattern to what people are saying, there's a problem with the product.

So, I balked for the following reasons:
a) They all ran out of juice after 10 - 15ish minutes of vacuuming before the battery needed recharging. Most reviewers didn't mind this, as they "did a little each day". However, I knew I would get annoyed if it died with the job half done. If I've worked up the motivation to vacuum, I want to get it over with, not come back to it in several hours or tomorrow.

b) Many of the less expensive cordless vacs out there didn't have the suction power I was looking for. Again - if I was going to work up the motivation to vacuum, I wanted something that actually picked up grit/dust/dirt or whatever else is on my floor as well as the dog hair. Otherwise what's the point?? I'd be better off lugging out the Oreck.

c) Many of the vacs seemed to encounter the same issue after about a year of ownership/right after the warranty ran out. From teeny plastic parts that broke and rendered the whole vac inoperable to plastic telescoping handles breaking off to batteries just wearing out, most of the vacs had some kind of consistent issue after about a year of use. Call me cheap if you want, but if I'm dropping $300 - $400 on a cordless vac, that thing better be immortal.

d) I have ZERO patience for customer apathy, which is what I secretly call customer "service" departments that don't even pretend to care. If I'm going to spend $300 - $400 bucks on a vacuum and something goes wrong, you better be able to wave a magic wand and make it better, pronto. My most expensive top candidate had some real horror stories attached.

SO - I changed my mind and decided a cord was acceptable after all, since being able to vac for as long as I wanted and suction power were important to me.

This vacuum is a great little product. I've only owned it for almost two weeks, and I think I've used it more than I have used my Oreck in the past 6 months. Seriously. My floors look so clean that when my mother dropped by she didn't even criticize. I felt like something was missing because we didn't have an argument about unsolicited feedback.

It arrived on time and undamaged. It took me maybe 60 seconds to put together - super easy and intuitive to set up, although directions are included. It does mention a floor brush in the literature, and mine did not come with one (I didn't expect it to, so I was surprised to see it mentioned). The floor attachment is clearly for hardwood/tile.

I'll admit to having a Tim Allen primal-grunting-like-an-ape moment when I turned it on. Even though I'd been expecting it from the reviews, I still didn't think such a small, light vac would be so powerful. It's like a jet engine on a stick. OK, I'm exaggerating, but just a little bit. I thought of a jet engine because of the sound; as other reviewers have pointed out, this vac is loud. Actually, I honestly don't think it's any louder than a regular vac, it's just higher-pitched (like a jet engine!). I wouldn't use it in the same room while someone is watching TV, for example, but another room would be fine. Not quite loud enough to upset the dog or coax teenaged daughters out of bed at 12:30 in the afternoon, but you likely won't hear the phone ring.

Random FYI's:
This vac is LIGHT. I have some major lower-back issues, and this is no problem at all for me to handle.
It stands on its own, so you can park it without fear it will tip over.
There is a place to wind the cord for storage (not retractable, it winds externally).
The telescoping handle is easy to extend with one hand (thumb).
The telescoping handle also detaches completely if you press a button on the side.
Dust cup is easy to empty without making a mess and has a decent-sized capacity. The first time I used it I emptied it 3 - 4 times (I did the whole house, and there was a LOT of dog hair); now I can do pretty much the whole house and only empty once.
As another reviewer noted, it does clean up to the baseboards very well; however, if you're going after grit vs. hair you will want to attack it head on vs.parallel to the baseboards.

This vac is for hardwood floors/tile. My entire house is hardwood floors with a couple-three area rugs and entrance mats/bathroom mats. It works well enough on the carpets that I can easily justify leaving my Oreck wherever the heck I've currently hidden it for now, but eventually I'll break down and pull it out to genuinely clean them with the beater brushes. Maybe.

I keep forgetting this isn't a full sized vacuum. This picks up cereal, dried leaves, etc., but I may need to step on them first to crunch them up small enough so that the intake doesn't get clogged. My daughter used this in her room (first time her room has seen a vac in years, I might add) and clogged up the floor attachment tube with popped popcorn. When I next used it, I was wondering if the jet power was in my imagination until I discovered the problem and unclogged the floor attachment and intake on the main unit, which I'm mentioning because it was an easy task.

I'm kind of "meh" about the attachments. I haven't really found a use for the hose, and I've kept the floor attachment on when I do the stairs. There is a brush on the crevice tool that extends at an angle which makes it convenient to use only when you hold the vac by the built-in handle. It doesn't lock into place, so it keeps collapsing, which is annoying. It's also pretty small, so I don't use it much. I will say that it is the perfect size to vacuum blinds, however, and if you don't try to go back-and-forth it doesn't collapse. My other annoyance is that I keep stepping on the cord; I wish there was a little "c" shaped clamp (like on the plug) that would secure it to the handle to keep the cord out of the way. I haven't used the furniture brush attachment just yet (c'mon, I just started to vacuum the floors regularly. If I did the furniture too my husband might start thinking I'm June Cleaver, which would piss me off).

All in all I'm delighted with this vacuum. It does exactly what I wanted and the price is right. That said, I've only owned it for a few weeks - if my opinion changes I'll definitely update. But for now it's changed my life, because I'd given up on clean floors, and just because I hate to vacuum doesn't mean I like dirty floors. I really love the feeling of thinking, "ugh, the stairs need to be vacuumed again"... and then thinking, "oh well OK then I'll do it now" instead of, "I wonder if the dentist can fit me in?". Woo hoo!

Hi folks, just an update nearly 2 years later: I still love this vac, and it still works as well as the day I bought it. I have a much better relationship with my Oreck as well, since now I only need to pull it out for "heavy-duty" and carpet cleaning. It happens... occasionally.

I'm going to buy another for my husband, who keeps swiping mine to take to his office to vac his very low-nap carpet (the kind that's almost like cement on the floor. This doesn't work so well on other carpets). I'm buying it mainly to spare him my raised-eyebrow-you-know-this-also-works-at-home-honey-you-should-try-it look from me. Merry Christmas, my love.

Great for someone with back pain!
August 14, 2017
I am handicapped with poor balance from a minor stroke and extreme back pain from spinal injury and subsequent fusion. I haven't been able to push a regular vacuum for many years, having to rely on my husband to do it (and he's barely able to do it lately). THIS VACUUM HAS SAVED ME FROM RELIANCE ON OTHERS!! I LOVE IT!! It works almost as well as my expensive, corded vacuum. The dirt cup is more than adequate size. I emptied it after each room, but our carpet gets really dirty with four dogs. It's so light weight it doesn't throw me off balance or cause back pain. I was baffled at first about where to insert the charging cord and almost called the company to ask them, but finally caught on that it inserts into a charging base (the grey thing that I at first thought was a hanging device). The vacuum rests on the charging base.
Simply Amazing - A MUST BUY!
February 10, 2017
This Shark cordless vacuum is amazing! As the owner of 2 cats and a dog, I need a vacuum that can not only handle the job of picking up all the pet hair, but one that will LAST. I own the Shark Navigator Lift Away upright, and based on its equally incredible performance, I was not surprised at all by the power of this lightweight and easy-to-use cordless model. I gave this baby a try this morning, starting with my wood floors and moving on to the area rugs. It got up so much pet hair that the canister filled up quickly, but it never lost power or suction. I emptied the canister and went in for another round, wondering if I got it all. There was still enough charge in this "powerhouse" to go over all the previous surfaces once again, and the canister was virtually empty after the second round. IT GOT IT ALL, with plenty of charge left! THANK YOU, SHARK, for yet another incredible product at an affordable price! AAAAA+++++
Loved it so much I bought a second one for the master bath/bedroom area!!
September 10, 2016
I couldn't be without this Shark!! It has plenty of power and a charge lasts about a week at my home. I use this for quick pick-ups and spills and a quick run over the throw rugs. Step on the start button once and it propels the power brush as full speed. Step on it again and the brush is turned off and you have just the floor suction. It picks up everything and is low enough to get under the kick plate of the base cupboards. It comes with a separate charger that sits on the floor and you plug it into the electricity and then just set the wheels into the notches in the charger and it is automatically plugged in correctly to charge. It may take up to an hour to charge, I haven't really kept track of that yet.
I Love This Machine!
June 19, 2016
All though this machine has its limitations, I love it. After opening it up and doing the initial battery charging, I tried it out and it sucked up dog hair like magic. One caveat is that it has a fairly small tube that carries the dirt and trash from the brush head to the bagless dirt collector. That means it doesn't do well on larger items such as pieces of paper; however, if and when that happens, it's easy to separate the brush head from the upper part of the handle/dust collector and clear the obstruction --- then it's good as new again. Emptying the dirt collector is quite easy.

This cleaner has two speeds which is selected by a foot touch switch on the brush head. Clearly the slower speed is going to drain the batteries at a slower rate. I find that if the suction tube is kept clear, the slow speed will literally reach out and suck in any loose dirt or dog hair it gets close to. I rarely use the high speed.

The beauty of this cleaner is that you can place the charging station in an easy to get at location and, when you're finished, simply set the machine on its charging station. When you need it, simply lift it up (it's very light) and go to work. With just a little practice, you will find the this little guy is highly maneuverable and you can run it over a room in no time. Just leave the larger items to a larger machine or broom.

I don't believe there's any way that vacuuming can be considered fun, but this little Shark comes close.
Does what says it does, excellent little cleaner, well made, and we'll worth the price I paid
December 18, 2015
After some delivery difficulty, 5 days past due date! was the wait worth it? absolutely! this is a stick broom ? I don't think so!! It doesn't know it, but it is almost a full blown vaccum! compared to other stick brooms we have owned, this is head and shoulders above all of them put together!, like all Shark products, it is well designed, and exicuted, we own the Shark Rocket, prior to that a Dyson, the difference was night and day, the complexity of the Dyson was such, that it would shut down, if it ingested more dust, than it was designed to handle.
When we got the Rocket, right out of the box, it sucked up so much dirt, and I had used the Dyson two days prevoius!
My wife is a proud house wife, we keep a spotless house, but the Dyson just didn't do it, but we did not know it untill we got the rocket! I am not being paid to say this, I am excited, when I get something for a good price and it works, as advertised! I highly recomended this little BIG stick broom, We don't have to take out the rocket as much with this!
Surprised and very happy!
June 2, 2015
Holy cow! We moved into a 3-level home several months ago, and I wanted another vacuum so I didn't have to carry my Shark Navigator (which I LOVE) up and down the stairs. I had settled on the Shark Rocket, because I figured with the lighter weight it would be good for my wood floors (which covers about half my main floor). But when I saw this, I thought the cordless thing might be great for the stairs, and the great reviews convinced me to buy one. We have 2 dogs and 3 kids, and I could not believe what this little thing picked up. Don't let the light weight fool you. This picks up A TON of stuff. I have about 3,000 square feet total, and was able to do my whole main floor, stairs, and about half the master bedroom before the charge ran out. It's awesome on wood floors, plus when I move to a rug, I can hear the roller kick into a higher gear. It doesn't change to the carpet setting, but it's like the roller knows you're on a rug. When you move back to the hard floor, it seems to switch back into the lower gear automatically. Switch it into carpet and it does a great job there, too. On stairs maybe it's not as easy as a hand held, but it's very light, and obviously there's no cord to mess with. Is it as good on carpets as my Navigator? Probably not. But it's perfect for my quick day-to-day carpet vacuuming, and does a very thorough job on my hard floors. I'm almost embarrassed to show what it picked up, but I've attached a picture of what I dumped in my garbage can when I was done! Dog hair galore! If you have a lot of hard floors or need a 2nd "quick" vacuum, this little thing might surprise you.

Great little vac
May 1, 2017
I absolutely love this vacuum. It's very lightweight which is what I want since I obsessively vacuum my apartment daily and wanted the ability to pick it up and move it without any struggle. The attachments are useful as well, especially the brush. I have two cats and the brush works well to pick up cat hair. For its size, I think it's pretty powerful on wood/laminate floors and on small rugs. I have no carpet so I can't say how powerful it would be and probably wouldn't recommend it anyway as the intake area is relatively small compared to regular sized vacs. I haven't been finding it very easy to find a replacement filter and this is the first bagless vac I've owned, and I'm not sure I enjoy the bagless feature. That's probably the only thing I would change as I vacuum so often, the cleaning process is a bit of a pain. I do enjoy the fact that it comes apart and turns into a handheld vac while still maintaining the power.
Not a complete loss
February 12, 2017
I moved into a fully carpeted apartment and the first item on my shopping list was a vacuum. Well maybe the second, because the first thing I purchased was a fairly expensive carpet cleaner and thus wanted to skimp on a vacuum. I thought this VonHaus would be perfect for my needs and budget. A couple months later, I now can recommend this is not a good vacuum for large carpeted spaces. The suction is fairly weak and you will receive a full body work out if you attempt to vacuum anything larger than a 4x6 area rug (and could possibly still be unhappy with the results). However, this vacuum is excellent on tiled or non-carpeted spaces. I use it in my kitchen in lieu of sweeping, and it works like a charm. The attachments that come with this convertible vacuum are also pretty nifty.
Useful and cheap, some limitations
September 4, 2016
This is a little vacuum is not to bad for its size and price. However, there are some things to note. First off, many of the reviews talk about its powerful suction. It is true that it has good suction. However, that is all that it uses. There is no brush or bristles to help scoop up debris and there is only a small hole that dirt can go up. While this is just fine for minor dirt on small carpeted areas and hard surface floors, it is not really useful against anything like ground in dirt or pet hair. That being said, it is still a decent vacuum. What I love most about it is that it is small and compact, can do the minor job that is needed and can be comfortably used by an adult and a child. The handle will extend up high enough for an average adult but also goes down to a height that is easily usable for a child. Mine is 9 and really begs to us it. It is also extremely light. This is both really nice and somewhat of a negative. While it is super easy to maneuver, I sometimes wish the bottom had a little more weight to get it closer to the ground for dirt at the edge of my rug. Overall, I do like it especially for the price which was just under $50 when I purchased it.
Not a full sized replacement, excellent for kids.
January 24, 2016
I'm pretty amazed by the amount of power this thing has. If you're not holding onto this when it turns on it will roll over the motor has so much torque. It is very loud. Maybe 2 or 3 times louder than my upright. It has no roller bar and I hear the attachment one is worthless. This is a huge drawback as far as its ability to clean carpets. With our the roller this can't pick up most animal hair effectively. The dust bin is better than some other small vacuums I've had, but still lacks a lot compared to an upright, mainly in the integrated filter which you pretry much have to clean off by hand every. The good thing is the bin (so far) stays in place, which I've had problems with on ither vacuums. I also have an issue with the fact that the attachments don't lock in, this means that the vacuum head comes off occasionally, comes off, especially when the kids are using it.

Which brings me to the final point, this thing is the best real kid vacuum we've had. It's very light and the handle is the right length for little ones. Our three year old twins love it, and can use it pretty well. The little quirks don't outweight the pros for a kids vaccum. They can very effectively vacuum a hard floor and can do a good maintenance clean on the carpet.
Works okay, but it's a little fragile.
June 13, 2015
I have a Chocolate lab and a Husky that like to shed their coats one after the other, an African Grey that likes to pelt anyone passing by with his food, and a Cockatiel that likes to keep his house very clean by throwing his seed husks and feathers outside of his house. The vacuum I currently have is WAY too heavy and NOISY for comfortable daily use so I needed to find something light for everyday hair tumbleweed, feather, and pellet maintenance in between the giant jet engine vacuum days.

This vacuum works very well for picking up dog hair and bird feathers from ceramic tile floors and low pile carpet. It did not work as well for the shaggier area rug in the living room. It does pick up pellets from the floor but if they are bigger than a cheerio, you have to pick it up with the hand vacuum. It absolutely does NOT work for vacuuming the dog beds which is something that I do with the giant vacuum when I use it. As for the noise level, it will bother someone watching TV in the same room you are vacuuming but should not bother anyone from the next room over. Overall, it's not perfect and it will not replace a full sized vacuum but it does make maintenance days easier. Five stars for the product itself.

I'm docking a star because the gray handle broke off the first day of use. My dad and brother managed to fix it using a drill and two screws but that should NOT have happened with a brand new product.

This is my first cordless vacuum and I'm really happy with it
February 20, 2017
This is my first cordless vacuum and I'm really happy with it. I have wood floors in my house, and I feel like it does a pretty good job of getting things up. It seems like it's really good with small stuff like dirt/sand. It's okay with dust, but you have to go over it slowly a few times. It will pick up small cat food and carpet fibers, but anything larger than that just gets pushed around.

It has one serious design flaw. The button to turn it on is on the top front of the machine. Convenient for turning it on and off, but whenever you got to vacuum under something, you end up accidentally hitting the button with the piece of furniture, and turning the vacuum off again. Kind of annoying. Also....the same button flashed a bright blue while charging. I keep the vacuum in my kitchen, but if it were in my bedroom it would be WAAAYYYY too bright to sleep with. Just a heads up.
Perfect for quick clean ups
October 10, 2016
I bought this little cordless vacuum to keep on my downstairs level which has hardwood floors only (no carpet.) I also have 2 rather large border collie/lab mix dogs who shed like they are trying to clone themselves. This little vac does a pretty great job picking up the fur that accumulates under tables and in the corners of the rooms. I have a little trouble keeping the head of it down on the hardwood floors but I think that is because it is so lightweight - it's not a huge issue but it's a little annoying. My other complaint would be emptying the dirt cup - the dog fur gets wrapped around the little pole that is in the dirt cup and I have to unwind it a bit which is sort of gross. Other than that, I'm pleased with the battery life and I like that it fits snugly next to my refrigerator and takes up barely any room at all. I hope it lasts for quite a while, it's definitely better than lugging my big Dyson up and down the stairs.
perfect lightweight vacuum for wood floors
September 22, 2016
For the price, it's fantastic. If you're looking for an inexpensive lightweight cordless vacuum that works great on hardwood floors, I highly recommend it.

Pros:
- Lightweight and cordless. My last vacuum was a hand me down heavy duty corded monster and I hated every second of using it, so this has been quite refreshing.
- Vacuums hair and dog fur off my hardwood floors perfectly. Man it's satisfying to run the vacuum across my fur covered floor and see it all clear. I never have to go over a spot more than once.
- Pretty easy to maneuver, thanks to its (lack of) weight and the very twisty head
- I've never run out of battery for my 1000 sq ft apartment. Sometimes I don't charge it in between small runs and it still works.
- Extremely easy to put together. I hardly remember assembling it, it was that simple.
- Very easy to empty the container

Cons:
- Not amazing on rugs, so probably wouldn't be great on carpet either.
- A small piece of plastic underneath that had a wheel on it already fell off. It was easily taped and the vacuum still works, but I've only had it for a few weeks. Maybe I banged it on something too hard.
- The charging light doesn't stop flashing even if it's fully charged. It's nitpicky of me, and it wouldn't be annoying if it wasn't so bright but I would like to charge it while I sleep.

The second and third cons are pretty minor and really not deal breakers. Since I don't have real carpet the first wasn't a deal breaker for me either, but could be for others.
Good for light cleaning jobs. Kids can use fairly easily
September 6, 2015
You have to understand that this is a cordless vacuum, which of course is going to have less power than a corded version. A lot of people were complaining about its power. That's not an issue when you have the proper expectation. I purchased this vacuum as a replacement for my kids sweeping (poorly) the dining room and kitchen and for maintenance in between weekly vacuuming with our canister vac. It works great for that purpose. It will generally pick up most things on the first pass, but I find that two or three in the same area works best. It's pretty light, so that's not a problem. It's not that easy to manuever and it's not great for corners, but that's fine considering why I bought it. If you are looking for deep cleaning suction, this won't work for you. If you want something light and easy to clear visible crumbs and dog/cat hair, get this and you won't be disappointed too much. This is a good vac for kids to use while helping with chores.
A good cordless vac for the money.
August 23, 2015
Overall, I like the performance of this vac. I hate having to drag electric cords and long hoses around, so this cordless vac fits the bill. The pros are 1) it can handle about 20 minutes of work on one charge. 2) It is does an excellent job on my area rugs. 3) It is super easy to empty the dust cup. By pushing a couple of buttons, the dirt drops right into the wast basket, hands-free! 4) The vac is easy to charge by just placing it on top of the charging dock, another hands-free feature. The cons include 1) the vac can be a bit heavy and awkward to navigate. 2) Due to the depth in the handle area, it does not fit under most of my furniture. 3) I really don't like the very bright flashing lights while it is in the charging dock, especially at night. Because of this, I pull it off the dock when it's finished charging. Though I have noted several features that could be improved, overall, I am satisfied with this vac for the price. I have owned 2 other cordless vacs and this is by far the best one.

Vacuum wannabe.....
December 18, 2016
I bought this because I only have hardwood floors, and my place is pretty small. Calling this a vacuum is a bit generous. For one, the head doesn't have a brush, so it doesn't pull dirt into it like a vacuum, and there's only a small opening so the suction really only occurs where the opening is, not along the whole head. What this really is, is a handheld vacuum on a stick.

Now, if you've ever thought, "I wish my ****buster was on a stick", you'll love it, and I use my regularly because it's pretty good. My only real complaint is that inside the canister the hole that all the dirt enters through is REALLY small and there's a flap covering it which further impedes objects getting through. The hole is about the size of a quarter, so if you like to suck up stray legos or the pieces of food your kids like to decorate the floor with, you'll likely find them wedged inside the head.

On the plus side it's SUPER light, the handle is telescopic, easy to empty, and has a pretty long cord.
Was amazing while it lasted
April 10, 2016
When I first got this, I was thrilled with it. We only have tile flooring and for that, it has excellent suction power, picking up even stubborn large chunks of dirt. Though I hate a cord on anything, this cord is long enough to only annoy me slightly when having to move from room to room. It is lightweight and I find it easy to maneuver. The handheld vac, which i really wanted too, is not a great tool. You have to add an attachment to have a logical "suck" nozzle and it seems clunky to me so we almost never use it though it was one of the key perks of purchasing this. I say I was thrilled with it because after 6 months of using it regularly, the handle no longer locks into place. When I try to turn the vacuum, only the handle turns making it very difficult to do anything but go straight. The motor is still great and it vacuums really well but I don't think it is worth the frustration of a spinning handle and having no directional control. We tried numerous ways to fix it but nothing works. So excellent quality vacuum motor but poor construction. I guess you just have to decide if $50 is too much for a 6 month vacuum cleaner.
So so....not great, not awful
October 2, 2015
I bought it to use around the house--we have concrete floors throughout the house, and we have a regular vacuum, but it's so bulky. I wanted something that was easy to whip out and clean easily with, while being able to maneuver around the kitchen table/chairs easily. At first I was kind of ehhh about the width of the 'mouth'/sucking up area, but it works out for the prior stated reason..maneuverability.

Also, the handle telescopes out to different lengths so you can adjust it based on your comfort...and also for storing purposes, although it doesn't take much room even when all the way extended.

UPDATE 6 weeks later....

So one thing I am updating my review about is the sucking power. I have decided this thing is more loud than anything, and loud does not equal great sucking power. The best this thing does at vacuuming up is the cat hair tumbleweeds that occur from my 3 long haired cats. Other than that, I am hard pressed to get much sucked up, even when you roll right over the junk on the floor. Perhaps this is better for carpeted floors. One thing that I have wondered, is if the main attachment that it's shown in the picture with, if it had the little vacuum roller that spins, like a real vacuum does, I think it would be a better performer, however, I realize that's not possible with a set up like this one.

Today, I tried out the little attachments for the first time, using it as a handheld, thinking that a narrower attachment might do better...I used the little upholstery brush, that is about 4-5 inches wide. I was trying to suck up cat litter that was on the floor...I was just basically pushing it around. I then put on the narrow, 1x1" nozzle attachment, and it sucked just fine. So I would say this vacuum is good for crevices, perhaps in your car, if you can get the cord to reach, or cleaning up light dust and cat hair in between real vacuumings.

I guess you get your money's worth, although I have nothing to compare it to (I paid $44.99 at the time), I expected a bit more, but I don't feel it's worth returning. I would however, not buy this again...I would probably wait, and pay a little more.
It sure sucks!
September 8, 2015
UPDATE: I bought this almost exactly a year ago, and yesterday while I was using it the dust container cracked! I'm so upset! I've used it once a week, so about 52 times. I tried taping the container together, but the crack makes it impossible for the attachments to stay attached so I can't really use it anymore. Noooooooooooooooooo!!! This vacuum was the best. RIP little orange VonHaus. -2 stars for breaking just short of the 1 yr mark. :(

ORIGINAL REVIEW: This little vacuum is awesome! Its a little loud, but has some serious suction, so much so that you might need someone to stand on your area rugs while you use it. It sucked my hallway runner right up! Great for kitty litter and HAIR (human and cat alike!) Seriously, the amount of hair in this thing after a single use is mind boggling. After reading some of the other reviews I was worried it wouldn't work on rugs, but it works great!
Scratches Wood Flooring
June 26, 2015
The positives: This is a nifty and powerful little vacuum and I really wish it would have worked for me. I love the fact that it is extremely lightweight and can even be hung on a hook. You can also use as a hand vac, but I found it a little cumbersome having to remove the cord to detach the long handle. The micro vacuum attachment kit does fit this.

The negatives: This vacuum DOES NOT work for hardwood floors. This vacuum repeatedly scratched my new engineered woven bamboo flooring (considered 25% harder than red oak). It did more damage in one minute that my five year old still hasn't accomplished. The suction is very strong for this little vacuum and any piece of dirt or grain that does not get sucked up stays underneath the plastic housing and will drag and gouge across the flooring. Some of the scratches were severe enough where I could feel the indentation with my fingernail.

I really wanted this vacuum to work. I tried applying felt pads underneath but they didn't stick. I also contacted the manufacter to see if they could resolve the issue, but they were not interested and told me to just return to amazon.

Works fine but don't expect to find replacement drive belt if you need one
July 23, 2017
I have owned three of these. Two I purchased from Amazon and one from a local retailer. Call me a slow learner if you will, but every one of them has died or become severely disabled after about a year of daily use. One died because the battery could not hold a charge. I replaced the battery and it ran a while longer. The other two became nearly useless because the drive belt had stretched so much that it could no longer turn the rotating brush. You can tell when the belt has stretched because it makes an ear-piercing screech while you're using it. Replacing the belt is usually an easy 5 minute task with most vacuum cleaners - that is IF YOU CAN FIND A REPLACEMENT BELT. Unfortunately, Shark doesn't sell replacement belts for this vacuum and as far as I can tell nobody else does either. So, a simple fix is undo-able because of lack of a replacement part. The only solution is to buy another vacuum. Seems like such a waste. If Shark doesn't sell replacement belts for this model then why do they make it possible to easily remove the old one? If anyone has found a replacement belt for the VS1106 then I would very much like to hear from you.
Really great for small house or apartment.
October 5, 2016
I bought mine as a second vac for my house, and am pleasantly surprised by its performance but definitely couldn't do the job as the main vac.

UPSIDES:
Very lightweight and manageable to carry. Maneuvers very well around corners and under chairs. Simple to charge. Simple to empty and I like that the filters and bagless catch area are kept separate (a big problem with my Bissel big vac). Fairly impressed with the suction for such a small, lightweight vac. This vac does very well on hardwood floors. Wicked easy to assemble too.

DOWNSIDES:
Does not hold a lot of stuff in the catch area (I have short-haired dogs and had to empty twice per room). It can be a hassle to use on hardwoods because you have to keep pressing it to the floor, the bottom and handle do not stay released well and the front tips up (probably from being so lightweight). I found that on normal carpet it does well only on the back stroke and doesn't pick up as well going forward so you have to work a little more to cover everywhere. Also, the battery does not last long and when it goes you start to hear the motor wind down but shuts off very quickly. While I haven't had a problem (yet), I fear breaking the charging base because its made of very lightweight material...also strong possibility of losing the base or charge adaptor which is a separate piece.
Beware! The SV1106N is actually being shipped.
March 14, 2016
Shark has two very similar models - SV1106 and SV1106N. The SV1106 uses a 14.4V battery pack while the SV1106N uses a 10.8V battery pack. Although this is advertised as the SV1106 what is actually being shipped is the lower voltage SV1106N.

There is also a difference in the charging behavior - with the SV1106N the blue light never stops flashing. This is billed as a feature :-(
Tech support for Euro Pro is very good
July 22, 2015
I have enjoyed this Shark cordless bagless navigator freestyle vac for 3 months but with light usage almost every day the connection from vac to charger is not working right. It won't stay charging on the charger. I've cleaned the connection, reset the vac and still not getting a charge. I am very unhappy about this because I really love the vacuum. It's freestyle head is great for getting under the table and around corners, it picks up dog hair on the floor without scratching and on my rugs without sucking the rugs up into the rollers. It's is so handy. If I can't get the charge to work then I will change my rating from a 3 to a 1.
As a follow up on the situation. I called the customer service number at Euro Pro and as usual they were very helpful and offered to send me a new charging unit to see if that is the issue.
OK for very small areas
January 10, 2015
This vacuum is great for carpet and bare floors. It is powerful and picks up pet hair perfectly. The only reason I give this 3 stars is as follows: I have two 8 x 10 area rugs, one in the living room and one in the dining room. As I said it works wonderfully. However, it loses it's charge after about 12 minutes and I am unable to complete the vacuuming of the two rugs before it quits. The charge should be able to last at least 20 minutes to really be effective. I have to wait for it to recharge before I can complete the rug vacuuming and the bare floor vacuuming of the kitchen and around the area rugs.
If you have a small area to vacuum, this is the perfect cordless vacuum cleaner for the job.
Update: November 2, 2015

This vacuum crapped out today. First the base that holds the roller came off. Clicked it back on but it kept coming off. Set it in the base for recharging . It is not recharging. I now give this vacuum 0 stars. It is a piece of crap. I am sure the warranty is over. Do not buy.

More work then it is worth
May 30, 2017
Does not pick up much of anything. We got this to vacuum our hardwood floor around where our toddler eats and it picks up very little before we have to clean out the filter. Our child is not that messy the machine just clogs easily. Also the head falls off easily and we are constantly battling to reattach it.
Super cheaply made plastic parts. Very flimsy wheels. Vacuum head will scratch floors.
May 21, 2017
Very cheaply made plastic bottom portion that has the "wheels" and suction head. The bottom "working end" portion of this vacuum is very cheap plastic. Wheels did not look like they would hold up at all. The plastic suction head just scrapes on the floor. If you have wood floors, this WILL scratch them badly. Returned for refund and bought something better.
Won't Replace Larger Vacuums
April 23, 2017
This is a handheld on a stick. I thought I would be able to replace my full sized vacuum for my small apartment, but the VonHaus just doesn't have enough suction to clean well. It did not pick up a popcorn seed that was on the floor, and was not able to manage a small dried out leaf.I had high hopes when I bought it, but have been disappointed with the performance.
Sent it back - not good for our purposes.
February 11, 2017
This will work very well for some. It DOES have great suction. It's the only thing that will get the dirt out of the crevices of my welcome mat.

However, it does not work well on carpet. I used it to vacuum my daughter's room, then went over it with a different bagless vac and picked up tons of dust.

I returned it, though, because the one we received had a high-pitched, loud motor. I couldn't stand it - but I'm sensitive to sound. Also, our man vac is a Miele which is very quiet. Perhaps I'm spoiled. But my hoover cordless doesn't make such a squeal.
Doesn't suck (not good for a vacuum cleaner)
August 30, 2016
I really wanted to like this, especially after someone said it changed their life. So much so, in fact, that I kept it long past the return date even though I knew I didn't like it. It's loud, it's poorly designed and it has very little suction. For get it on carpets. It's also no more convenient than any other vacuum. I wouldn't mind the crappy design (cheap hose attachment and the heads just pop off the bottom for other attachments) if it actually WORKED. It doesn't. I mean, it does to a degree, but not enough to actually clean anything besides maybe a bit of fine dirt. It won't suck up anything heavier than coffee grounds and even those don't get lifted entirely. Animal hair on carpets? Pffft, forget it, it won't work, even with the (separately purchased) carpet attachment. I'm really mad at myself for not returning this right away. Save your money.

I recently purchased a Shark Cordless and I really like it. It picks stuff up, including pet hair on carpets. Plus, it's cordless with any easy charge stand. Worth the extra $50.

Good for hard floors; not recommended for carpet
February 24, 2017
I bought this vacuum for use in a small apartment, thinking that it would be able to keep up with the light use required. After six months, however, the beater brush has almost completely stopped working. The vacuum still works well for hard floors, but is not usable on carpet. We have bought other Shark models in the past that we have been extremely happy with, but this one was a disappointment. If I had it to do over again, I would pay for one of the sturdier models right off the bat.
Meh.. Pros and cons..
January 2, 2017
Pros:
Cordless is awesome
Light and easy to maneuver
Works on hardwood, carpet and rugs
Decent job at getting hair ( 5 women, a cat, and a beard in my house)

Cons:
Less than 6 months in my brush roll is sticking
Charge barely lasts long enough for me to get my house (not enough to also do stairs)
Canister is small and fills quickly
I can't find a replacement brush to fix it
I would not recommend this vacuum due to it's lack of reliability
December 1, 2016
This is the second Shark Navigator that I have purchased in the past 3 months. The first one worked well very for a couple of weeks and suddenly stopped working. It would not power on nor would it charge. The defective unit was returned and was replaced by an identical unit. The second unit performed well for 2 months ( September 30 through November 30 ). Today, December 1st, while vacuuming a bare floor, the replacement vacuum also suddenly stopped working! The unit will not power on and will not charge. I have gone through the troubleshooting suggestions with no success. While the Shark does a very acceptable job when it works, it not a reliable unit. I would not recommend this vacuum due to it's lack of reliability.
2 of them broke within 6 months
June 16, 2016
Loved it at first... but 6 months of use and the back wheels broke and fell off, scratching my wood flooor. I accidently had purchased two of them and kept both, planning on giving one away. I went ahead and kept the second one becuase at first it was such a great little vacuum. However, another 6 months and the same thing happened to the second vacuum. I contacted customer service and was told "sorry, but you have to file a claim". This has not been resolved. I cannot recommend this vacuum due to poor quality of parts and poor customer service.
Great to start but hasn't lasted...
December 9, 2015
When I first received this vacuum I loved it. I needed something lightweight and easy to maneuver. We have two young kids and two dogs so I typically vacuum our hardwood floors several times a week. This vacuum worked wonderfully for the first several months. The fact that it is cordless makes it so easy to use. However, now that I've had it for awhile and used it quite a bit, it seems to be on its last legs. I'm disappointed that it hasn't even lasted me a full year. This was such a great item to start, but it does not have the durability that I need. Disappointed that it didn't last longer.

Don't waste your money
June 13, 2017
Horrible vacuum. I seriously don't know how this has such good ratings. I'm so disappointed. This is made just as cheaply as the $15 Bissell you can buy at WalMart. The bottom attachment will not stay on, a wheel broke off the second time I used it, and it is so loud! You'd think the loudness is because it has awesome suction but it doesn't. I'm so disappointed in this item. I'm hoping that the company will refund all my money (I bought the warranty also). The only reason I'm giving this one star is because you have to use a star rating.

The vacuum despite having a very narrow head worked well. Two days ago, after approximately 2 months of use (maybe 12 vacuumings), I went to plug the vacuum in (which has to be done repeatedly due to the very short cord) when the vacuum tipped over and broke. The entire unit is held together by a very small plastic tab that spring-locks the dirt canister to the suction motor. When the vacuum tipped over the plastic tab that is no more than 1/4 inch in size cracked and the unit is now useless. Tossed it and ordered the Bissel for $20 more that I should have purchased originally.
Waste of money
September 30, 2016
I bought this vacuum to use for our pontoon boat. I was very disappointed in the vacuum, it has very poor suction and it hardly spins the brush attachment. A broom worked better to clean the boat.
I bought this vacuum after reading the positive reviews on it. It is a terrible vacuum, would never purchase it again.
I replaced it with a shark vacuum and I am much happier.

August 30, 2016
Awful vaccum, the bottom portion of the vacuum where the suction happens you would think the entire width is use but only has an opening of 3-4 inches! Who can vacuum a room with such small openings?? And as a plug-in, despite the size of this, the vacuum made such a LOUD noise! Returned the product.
Picks up dry bread crumbs!

Photo 1. What the VonHaus with turbo attachment found in my carpet after 10 minutes of vacuuming.
Photo 2. What the Bissell Cleanview ($5 less if purchased at Target) found in my carpet in 10 minutes, five minutes later.
Photo 3. A side by side comparison
P.S. Be prepared to accidentally bump the on/off switch at least three times/vacuuming session.

DIED IN TWO MONTHS!
August 15, 2017
I loved this little cordless vac....until it suddenly DIED yesterday. I've only had it two months and I've used it on my bare floors about a dozen times or so. I think it's the charger, not the vacuum, but you can't use one without the other. You pay shipping to have it fixed (both ways mind you) and so I'll probably just see if I can purchase just the charger somehwere. By the time I pay $14 each way and then be without it for weeks and weeks, it's hardly worth it. Why is everything so shoddily made these days?!! I also bought the Hoover Linx at the same time for our shop and the charger on that one died too in about a month! I do have a Dyson (a REAL vacuum) to do the deep cleaning every month, but this little cordless was SO handy for quick clean ups in-between the major cleans. Right now it's just another piece of junk....sigh.....
Don't buy new newer model
August 10, 2017
December 2016 I ordered my second shark navigator freestyle cordless stick vacuum. I could not say enough positive about that earlier model! Apparently they're selling a inferior product with a different model number. There is nothing good I can say about this new model. Weak suction- have to run repeatedly over a piece of lint! Less maneuverability-hard on my wrist.. Emptying cartridge stiffer. The blue recharge light flashes continuously even when charged. Very annoying plus I never know when it's fully charged. Would have returned immediately but had thrown away packaging boxes. Another review mentions 2 different model numbers. Apparently I got the crappy one the second time around.
Thought I just got a bad one so I exchanged it
December 10, 2016
Lasted only a year. Suction is lousy. You have to clean it out often because the tube is narrow. Doesn't pick up on hardwood floors. Lousy product. Thought I just got a bad one so I exchanged it. Same thing w the second one. Def don't buy. Those that leave better reviews must have just gotten theres. Give it a month and you will see what I'm talking about.
Not all it's cracked up to be!
September 29, 2016
I was so excited to get this vacuum that I paid extra shipping to get it expedited! I charged it I initially for 8 hours since the instructions called for 4-10. After the first charge it only lasted one pass of my house. So I tried it again and charged it over night and still the battery does not hold a charge! So disappointed. And it's too much of a hassle to ship it back so now I guess I'm stuck with a dysfunctional vacuum. I am surprised because I have had shark products in the past and loved them!
Not happy.
June 7, 2016
There are exactly two things I like about this vacuum - the portable size/weight and the fact that it's battery operated. That is where the love ends. I don't think I've written a "bad" review before, but my annoyance about this product has compelled me to do so. Our home is 90% wood flooring with one decent sized low-nap area rug - seems like we should be a perfect fit for this type of vacuum, but I find that there are more things it WON'T suck up than stuff it will and this is very noticeable with bare feet on a wood floor. My list of things this vacuum won't suck up -
1. Cheerios (or similar small pieces of cereal/crackers/what-have you.) We have a child and these items are at least 50% of the reason we vacuum in the first place. It might fling it, even break it...but it really doesn't want to suck these up.
2. Sand or rock chips - we live on a gravel road. Little tiny bits of rock and sand end up around our doorway...this vacuum appears to suck them up, only to spit them back out elsewhere in my home as I continue to vacuum. I think they just get caught in the brush. I'm not talking big rocks here...just teeny little bits of sand! I've tried with both speeds of the brush - the higher speed just flings them everywhere.
3. Small scraps of paper - see number 1. We have a child. Why are these tiny lightweight bits of paper so difficult to vacuum? I can go back and forth over it 20 times and MAYBE it will suck it up if I hit it just right.
4. The straw that broke the camel's back today? A plastic swing tag. You know, the kind that holds a price tag onto a new shirt - only minus the actual price tag. Just a tiny, insignificant piece of plastic and it WOULD NOT SUCK IT UP. I tried every angle. I tried for longer than I care to admit. I would have wasted less time and energy by getting a broom and dustpan (for all the above, really!)
I will say, this this thing WILL suck up pet hair fairly decently. That's really all I have to say that's positive about the suction. We tried troubleshooting as much as we could - emptying out the vac regularly, etc. No dice.

So, onto the next problem - somewhere around the third week of usage, our unit came apart right where the floor portion meets the upright portion (photo attached.) There is nothing that broke from what we can tell - just sort of a plug that pushes into a groove (with no locking mechanism), so very easy to put back together, but now comes apart every time we pull the vacuum back towards us when vacuuming our area rug. It's literally so loose of a connection, that we now have to push it around (no pulling!) on the rug to vacuum it which seems like a heck of a lot of fuss considering it still doesn't suck up the stuff. We purchased this as a replacement for a vacuum that never gave us trouble until it just died one day. I just bought a newer version of that vacuum here on amazon. I'm done with this thing!
