price plus effectiveness equals VALUE
December 19, 2016
I waited a few months before writing my review of this little sucker. The power of this baby is rather incredible. I purchased this for personal use in my bedroom, I have a big shark for the rest of the house. My bedroom has a couple of area rugs, and hard wood flooring. VonHaus sucker transitions from the rugs to the floor without a hitch. I LOVE this vacuum. I use it almost every day as I have a "thing" about clean floors. I purchased the extra filters but have not had to change the filter yet after these months of almost daily use. It's not the easiest thing to empty since you have to pull the head off to open the canister but at this price who could give a damn. Also, other reviewers have mentioned the loudness of the unit, but again, did you see the price!? I would rather have the power than less engine noise. If what concerns you is PRICE and EFFECTIVENESS then this is a no-brainer. Perfect extra vacuum. I would like to have one in every room of the house.
Compact, 2 in 1, very strong suction.

This vacuum is great. The price is well priced for being both a hand held vacuum and a upright vacuum. Also, I did not expect it to work as well as it does and it took me by surprise when it cleaned my area rug very well considering that it does not have spinning bristles at the bottom of the vacuum, it works great because the suction is so strong. This vaccuum is also compact and light weight so it is not a hassle to carry it up and down the stairs.
GREAT!!!

I just received these today and they all came with the mesh!! Very happy with this order!
Makes Vacuuming Fun!
January 24, 2015
The VonHaus 600W 2-in-1 Upright Stick vacuum is the best domestic appliance in my home!! After always having hand-me-down vacuums that were heavy and clunky and didn't work very well, this lightweight, compact and powerful vacuum makes cleaning enjoyable and easy. The attachments work great to do detailed cleaning. It also works very well on my jute and woven rugs. I love the option to turn it into a handheld vacuum for quick clean ups. It's only slightly larger than a broom and can be tucked away anywhere for storage. I highly recommend this vacuum!
Changed my life. For real.
January 3, 2015
I really, really hate to vacuum. Like I'd rather go to the dentist and get 6 shots of novocain and have my gums scraped than vacuum. My Oreck is large and clunky, and I hate pulling it out and dragging it along behind me. I avoid vacuuming with such fervor that sometimes I forget where my Oreck even IS. I'm not making this up.

I now have a long-haired dog that sheds, however, and even I couldn't pretend not to see the clumps of dog hair gathering in the corners and along the baseboards. I hate to vacuum so much that I actually cursed myself for not having had the foresight to pick a dog from the shelter that had a hair color that matched my floors better. But since I didn't, and since I'm not taking the dog back (because he's AWESOME), and since even my low standards for floor cleanliness were offended, I decided it was time to look for an alternate vacuum.

I wanted something light and versatile that I would actually use, so I was originally in the market for a cordless stick vac. I had nearly talked myself into spending several hundred dollars on one. Then I read a hot tip from another reviewer, who suggested always reading through the negative comments. When there is a pattern to what people are saying, there's a problem with the product.

So, I balked for the following reasons:
a) They all ran out of juice after 10 - 15ish minutes of vacuuming before the battery needed recharging. Most reviewers didn't mind this, as they "did a little each day". However, I knew I would get annoyed if it died with the job half done. If I've worked up the motivation to vacuum, I want to get it over with, not come back to it in several hours or tomorrow.

b) Many of the less expensive cordless vacs out there didn't have the suction power I was looking for. Again - if I was going to work up the motivation to vacuum, I wanted something that actually picked up grit/dust/dirt or whatever else is on my floor as well as the dog hair. Otherwise what's the point?? I'd be better off lugging out the Oreck.

c) Many of the vacs seemed to encounter the same issue after about a year of ownership/right after the warranty ran out. From teeny plastic parts that broke and rendered the whole vac inoperable to plastic telescoping handles breaking off to batteries just wearing out, most of the vacs had some kind of consistent issue after about a year of use. Call me cheap if you want, but if I'm dropping $300 - $400 on a cordless vac, that thing better be immortal.

d) I have ZERO patience for customer apathy, which is what I secretly call customer "service" departments that don't even pretend to care. If I'm going to spend $300 - $400 bucks on a vacuum and something goes wrong, you better be able to wave a magic wand and make it better, pronto. My most expensive top candidate had some real horror stories attached.

SO - I changed my mind and decided a cord was acceptable after all, since being able to vac for as long as I wanted and suction power were important to me.

This vacuum is a great little product. I've only owned it for almost two weeks, and I think I've used it more than I have used my Oreck in the past 6 months. Seriously. My floors look so clean that when my mother dropped by she didn't even criticize. I felt like something was missing because we didn't have an argument about unsolicited feedback.

It arrived on time and undamaged. It took me maybe 60 seconds to put together - super easy and intuitive to set up, although directions are included. It does mention a floor brush in the literature, and mine did not come with one (I didn't expect it to, so I was surprised to see it mentioned). The floor attachment is clearly for hardwood/tile.

I'll admit to having a Tim Allen primal-grunting-like-an-ape moment when I turned it on. Even though I'd been expecting it from the reviews, I still didn't think such a small, light vac would be so powerful. It's like a jet engine on a stick. OK, I'm exaggerating, but just a little bit. I thought of a jet engine because of the sound; as other reviewers have pointed out, this vac is loud. Actually, I honestly don't think it's any louder than a regular vac, it's just higher-pitched (like a jet engine!). I wouldn't use it in the same room while someone is watching TV, for example, but another room would be fine. Not quite loud enough to upset the dog or coax teenaged daughters out of bed at 12:30 in the afternoon, but you likely won't hear the phone ring.

Random FYI's:
This vac is LIGHT. I have some major lower-back issues, and this is no problem at all for me to handle.
It stands on its own, so you can park it without fear it will tip over.
There is a place to wind the cord for storage (not retractable, it winds externally).
The telescoping handle is easy to extend with one hand (thumb).
The telescoping handle also detaches completely if you press a button on the side.
Dust cup is easy to empty without making a mess and has a decent-sized capacity. The first time I used it I emptied it 3 - 4 times (I did the whole house, and there was a LOT of dog hair); now I can do pretty much the whole house and only empty once.
As another reviewer noted, it does clean up to the baseboards very well; however, if you're going after grit vs. hair you will want to attack it head on vs.parallel to the baseboards.

This vac is for hardwood floors/tile. My entire house is hardwood floors with a couple-three area rugs and entrance mats/bathroom mats. It works well enough on the carpets that I can easily justify leaving my Oreck wherever the heck I've currently hidden it for now, but eventually I'll break down and pull it out to genuinely clean them with the beater brushes. Maybe.

I keep forgetting this isn't a full sized vacuum. This picks up cereal, dried leaves, etc., but I may need to step on them first to crunch them up small enough so that the intake doesn't get clogged. My daughter used this in her room (first time her room has seen a vac in years, I might add) and clogged up the floor attachment tube with popped popcorn. When I next used it, I was wondering if the jet power was in my imagination until I discovered the problem and unclogged the floor attachment and intake on the main unit, which I'm mentioning because it was an easy task.

I'm kind of "meh" about the attachments. I haven't really found a use for the hose, and I've kept the floor attachment on when I do the stairs. There is a brush on the crevice tool that extends at an angle which makes it convenient to use only when you hold the vac by the built-in handle. It doesn't lock into place, so it keeps collapsing, which is annoying. It's also pretty small, so I don't use it much. I will say that it is the perfect size to vacuum blinds, however, and if you don't try to go back-and-forth it doesn't collapse. My other annoyance is that I keep stepping on the cord; I wish there was a little "c" shaped clamp (like on the plug) that would secure it to the handle to keep the cord out of the way. I haven't used the furniture brush attachment just yet (c'mon, I just started to vacuum the floors regularly. If I did the furniture too my husband might start thinking I'm June Cleaver, which would piss me off).

All in all I'm delighted with this vacuum. It does exactly what I wanted and the price is right. That said, I've only owned it for a few weeks - if my opinion changes I'll definitely update. But for now it's changed my life, because I'd given up on clean floors, and just because I hate to vacuum doesn't mean I like dirty floors. I really love the feeling of thinking, "ugh, the stairs need to be vacuumed again"... and then thinking, "oh well OK then I'll do it now" instead of, "I wonder if the dentist can fit me in?". Woo hoo!

Hi folks, just an update nearly 2 years later: I still love this vac, and it still works as well as the day I bought it. I have a much better relationship with my Oreck as well, since now I only need to pull it out for "heavy-duty" and carpet cleaning. It happens... occasionally.

I'm going to buy another for my husband, who keeps swiping mine to take to his office to vac his very low-nap carpet (the kind that's almost like cement on the floor. This doesn't work so well on other carpets). I'm buying it mainly to spare him my raised-eyebrow-you-know-this-also-works-at-home-honey-you-should-try-it look from me. Merry Christmas, my love.

My Tile Has Never Been Cleaner
May 6, 2017
I love this thing. It is extremely powerful, lightweight, easy to maneuver, and sucks up everything. I find this way more convenient than a broom and dust pan, but without all the weight and clumsiness that comes with a full-size vacuum. I'm a lifer on this thing. It takes me 10 minutes to do my entire house. The only criticism I have is that it doesn't stand up well, so if you prop it against something it's likely to fall over and then the central container pops off and has to be clipped back in. Not a big deal at all, and this thing is so amazing that it's totally still a 5-star item with that issue, it just might be something for Dirt Devil to work on for the next model. LOVE THIS. BUY IT NOW SO YOU CAN BE AS HAPPY AS ME!
Great product!!
January 21, 2017
Holy crap this thing is great! This has a lot of power. Hold on tight if you plug it in with the power already on. The cord is short (they all are though) so it unplugged when I was vacuuming and I didn't turn off the power plugged it back in and it jumped off the floor spun around and crashed to the ground (true story). Has great suction power.
STRONG Little Bugger! Great for small spaces & for pets
January 17, 2017
This little guy is such a life saver. I have lived several different apartments (Boston, NYC, and Chicago) - and I know how important is can be to have a small yet powerful vacuum. This vacuum is a major space saver, and it's STRONGER than any stick vacuum I've ever owned. Heck, it's even stronger than some larger standing vacs! I really like that it's bagless - I have cats, and their hair fills the reservoir quickly. For those of you using this for litter - it's been great at picking up Worlds Best Litter for me.Replacing the filter is a pain (it's easy enough to do, I just don't like spending money on "parts" for appliances). It doesn't need to be changed nearly as much as recommended. I've owned this for over a year, and I've only ever changed the filter once... :-) It's still in tremendous working condition, strong suck power, and I'd recommend it in a heartbeat!.
Put my other vacuum to shame!
July 13, 2016
Game changer, just finished vacuuming my floor just before this arrived, tried this and I am totally blown away! The cannnister was full, a little creepy, thought my floor was clean👌
Great purchase!
July 3, 2016
I have alot of tile and laminate floor and I wanted something that would work and didn't cost 200 bucks and this seemed reasonable with decent reviews when I got it at first I thought I was goin to be garbage. .... it works great it's light it picks up dog hair and glitter it has an easy release to empty it. The worst thing about it is getting it back together after you take it apart to clean the filter it's a pain in the ass you have to get it just right or it doesn't go back together! Took a few times to get it down but now I can put it back together no problem there's a notch that lines up in front and the v part goes toward the latch and should be flush with the edge ... otherwise best little cheap vaccum I ever had! And hold on to it when you turn it on it'll try and run away! Works pretty good on carpets too but have to empty it alot
If it had a swivel head, it would be near perfect for a $50 vac.
March 23, 2016
If it had a swivel head, it would be near perfect for a $50 vac.I've been disappointed by more vacs than politicians. So I'm not an easy sell with vacs. I like this one.It has two large wheels and two small nylon rollers in front to keep the head from scratching a hardwood floor. Suction is strong due to the strong motor. I know it's fashionable to have a stick vac with the motor near your hand--this seems bass ackwards to me. I'd rather have the weight on the floor than carry it around. Besides strong suction, the filter capture very fine particles. Most times you can just tap it against the garbage can to remove most of the accumulation. You can also rinse it with water--be sure to let it dry before putting back in vac.The standard toe-kick at the bottom of kitchen cabinets is about 3: (The toe kick allows you to stand next to your base cabinets without stubbing your toes.) The vac head width beyond the width of the motor chamber is just enough to reach under the toe-kick if you run the vac fully sideways along the cabinet base--a little more room here would be good. One reviewer wrote repeatedly that she or he could not figure out how to put the dirt cup back on. I've tried all the ways I can to figure out how this could be difficult. The only way I've found is if you remove the filter from the cup and then don't replace it properly. The filter must be pressed down in the cup fully for the cup to be able to mount correctly. When in doubt, read the instructions. The unit worked well on short and long nap carpets and hardwood floors and tile. A full size vac with a roller would work better on a carpet but they tend to suck up the edges of rugs. So I still want a full size vac for carpet. But for occasional carpet cleaning and for rugs and hard floors, I prefer a good stick vacuum and this is the best I've come across so far.The 20 foot cord is just barely long enough to be practical. Even longer would be better. I think 20 feet is a minimum, 30 feet or longer is optimal. So, for $50 this unit is a great choice. So I rate this a great value for the price and a good choice for a lightweight vacuum. It would be great it if had a swivel head but the ones that do tend to break too easily ime, so I still rate this unit 5 stars compared to the compettion.

Great little vac
May 1, 2017
I absolutely love this vacuum. It's very lightweight which is what I want since I obsessively vacuum my apartment daily and wanted the ability to pick it up and move it without any struggle. The attachments are useful as well, especially the brush. I have two cats and the brush works well to pick up cat hair. For its size, I think it's pretty powerful on wood/laminate floors and on small rugs. I have no carpet so I can't say how powerful it would be and probably wouldn't recommend it anyway as the intake area is relatively small compared to regular sized vacs. I haven't been finding it very easy to find a replacement filter and this is the first bagless vac I've owned, and I'm not sure I enjoy the bagless feature. That's probably the only thing I would change as I vacuum so often, the cleaning process is a bit of a pain. I do enjoy the fact that it comes apart and turns into a handheld vac while still maintaining the power.
Not a complete loss
February 12, 2017
I moved into a fully carpeted apartment and the first item on my shopping list was a vacuum. Well maybe the second, because the first thing I purchased was a fairly expensive carpet cleaner and thus wanted to skimp on a vacuum. I thought this VonHaus would be perfect for my needs and budget. A couple months later, I now can recommend this is not a good vacuum for large carpeted spaces. The suction is fairly weak and you will receive a full body work out if you attempt to vacuum anything larger than a 4x6 area rug (and could possibly still be unhappy with the results). However, this vacuum is excellent on tiled or non-carpeted spaces. I use it in my kitchen in lieu of sweeping, and it works like a charm. The attachments that come with this convertible vacuum are also pretty nifty.
Useful and cheap, some limitations
September 4, 2016
This is a little vacuum is not to bad for its size and price. However, there are some things to note. First off, many of the reviews talk about its powerful suction. It is true that it has good suction. However, that is all that it uses. There is no brush or bristles to help scoop up debris and there is only a small hole that dirt can go up. While this is just fine for minor dirt on small carpeted areas and hard surface floors, it is not really useful against anything like ground in dirt or pet hair. That being said, it is still a decent vacuum. What I love most about it is that it is small and compact, can do the minor job that is needed and can be comfortably used by an adult and a child. The handle will extend up high enough for an average adult but also goes down to a height that is easily usable for a child. Mine is 9 and really begs to us it. It is also extremely light. This is both really nice and somewhat of a negative. While it is super easy to maneuver, I sometimes wish the bottom had a little more weight to get it closer to the ground for dirt at the edge of my rug. Overall, I do like it especially for the price which was just under $50 when I purchased it.
Not a full sized replacement, excellent for kids.
January 24, 2016
I'm pretty amazed by the amount of power this thing has. If you're not holding onto this when it turns on it will roll over the motor has so much torque. It is very loud. Maybe 2 or 3 times louder than my upright. It has no roller bar and I hear the attachment one is worthless. This is a huge drawback as far as its ability to clean carpets. With our the roller this can't pick up most animal hair effectively. The dust bin is better than some other small vacuums I've had, but still lacks a lot compared to an upright, mainly in the integrated filter which you pretry much have to clean off by hand every. The good thing is the bin (so far) stays in place, which I've had problems with on ither vacuums. I also have an issue with the fact that the attachments don't lock in, this means that the vacuum head comes off occasionally, comes off, especially when the kids are using it.

Which brings me to the final point, this thing is the best real kid vacuum we've had. It's very light and the handle is the right length for little ones. Our three year old twins love it, and can use it pretty well. The little quirks don't outweight the pros for a kids vaccum. They can very effectively vacuum a hard floor and can do a good maintenance clean on the carpet.
Works okay, but it's a little fragile.
June 13, 2015
I have a Chocolate lab and a Husky that like to shed their coats one after the other, an African Grey that likes to pelt anyone passing by with his food, and a Cockatiel that likes to keep his house very clean by throwing his seed husks and feathers outside of his house. The vacuum I currently have is WAY too heavy and NOISY for comfortable daily use so I needed to find something light for everyday hair tumbleweed, feather, and pellet maintenance in between the giant jet engine vacuum days.

This vacuum works very well for picking up dog hair and bird feathers from ceramic tile floors and low pile carpet. It did not work as well for the shaggier area rug in the living room. It does pick up pellets from the floor but if they are bigger than a cheerio, you have to pick it up with the hand vacuum. It absolutely does NOT work for vacuuming the dog beds which is something that I do with the giant vacuum when I use it. As for the noise level, it will bother someone watching TV in the same room you are vacuuming but should not bother anyone from the next room over. Overall, it's not perfect and it will not replace a full sized vacuum but it does make maintenance days easier. Five stars for the product itself.

I'm docking a star because the gray handle broke off the first day of use. My dad and brother managed to fix it using a drill and two screws but that should NOT have happened with a brand new product.

March 29, 2017
This thing is pretty awesome. It is all plastic which makes it light and easy to handle. It has good suction but the lent and dust trap is smaller than I would like but I guess if it was any bigger it would be heavier. The cord is decent in length and I can get across my kitchen and dining area fairly easily using one plug. The compact design allows me to store it easily in the utility closet with my other cleaning equipment. I am only giving it a four star rating but I had trouble with this decision because I really felt it was close to getting five stars but I needed some increments between four and five to give it a more precise rating .
I like it, it works well
January 13, 2017
I am obsessed with clean floors, so OCD that I own 6 vacuum cleaners (Dyson, Shark, and Dirt Devil). I have all 3 of the stick type Dirt Devil that I use daily between the family room where my 3 dogs hang out and the kitchen. I wanted a corded stick vac and this seems to be the most powerful of the 3 I own. I like it, it works well. It is pretty powerful for my small vacuuming needs. One thing I am not fond of is how heavy the bottom part is to where when u stand it up you'd have to lean it against something or the handle will just fall down to the floor. Otherwise a good vacuum to have for hard floors and tiles.
Good stick vacuum
December 1, 2016
The suction on this thing is great. I use it mostly to quickly vacuum up my Labrador's hair. It will pull it from inches away from the vacuum head, no need to sweep over the hair. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is it's ability to stand upright. It isn't well balanced and falls over all the time if not leaning on something. The last one I had never fell over. It has a made in China look, but I'm not concerned with how it looks so that didn't impact the rating. I'm rating on performance only and it would be 5 stars if it had better stability to stand on its own.
Sucks, but in a good way!
March 25, 2016
I have been pleasantly surprised by how well this little stick-vac works. We use it primarily upstairs, so we don't have to lug the regular household vacuum up there, and it picks up pretty well. We have two parakeets upstairs whose main entertainment is throwing seed, poop, and corn cob on the floor around their cage. This has tackled all of that PLUS the gobs of fur from our perpetually shedding white dog. I've not had much luck with most stick vacs due to their lack of a) appropriate suction and b) rolling brushes, but this has surprised. It's lightweight enough that our 9-year-old to is able to handle it on the stairs himself, and the canister is easy to empty. I don't think this would work well for whole house purposes, but for a second vac, or to avoid sweeping hard floor? Definitely recommended!
Great for Pet Owners!
January 18, 2016
Wow, this is so much better than sweeping. I bought this item to replace the sweep and dust pan that I use on my tile floors. It picks up so much more. It works especially well with those pesky tumbleweeds of dog hairs that tend to flee from the broom or just get matted in the bristles. The suction on this vacuum is intense. I can see bits of dirt being pulled into the mouth of the vacuum even before I pass over the area. My only complaint, and I think this may be a result of the super high suction, is that when you go to empty the dust cup you push and push on the button that is supposed to drop the bottom out and empty the cup. But, the bottom never budges so you end up picking at the edge with your finger until the bottom finally pries loose and dumps the content of the dust cup onto your fingertips. Real gross. Wish that was different.
Great Suction, Loud Suction
December 30, 2014
I bought this to replace a 20-something year old Eureka 12 amp stick vacuum that was still working well (especially after the periodic filter cleanings) but the cord was frayed and even tho DH could replace that I still wanted a new and lighter one. After reading reviews and specs I decided on this model. I haven't had it long enough to comment on durability, but I can tell you this thing has great suction. I used it on ceramic tile and on laminate wood and it was pulling in things from corners and under furniture - I'd see these huge dust bunnies suddenly come out from underneath something and scoot its way across the floor right into the vacuum! It's was kind of cool to watch, and kind of gross at the same time to think about how long that had been under there. My Eureka was pretty good at pulling out the bunnies right after a filter cleaning/replacement, but I know this Dirt Devil was pulling out even more. I don't use this on carpet so I can't say how it would do there, but I did vacuum two small area rugs and it seemed to do a good job without trying to eat them. It is also a bit lighter and a LOT nicer looking than my old Eureka. On the other hand, this is one LOUD sucker! I didn't realize that "cyclonic technology" meant it would sound like a cyclone blowing through my house! It was definitely louder than my old, higher-amp Eureka. If that is something that bothers you or somebody in your household you might want to consider something else. I deducted one star for the noise.Overall it's a great model for the price. It is not meant for deep cleaning carpets, but for hard floors it's great. There is no detachable hand vacuum device and it's very loud, but if you're OK with that then this is the stick vacuum for you. I'm happy with it so far. If I change my mind I'll update my review.

Vacuum wannabe.....
December 18, 2016
I bought this because I only have hardwood floors, and my place is pretty small. Calling this a vacuum is a bit generous. For one, the head doesn't have a brush, so it doesn't pull dirt into it like a vacuum, and there's only a small opening so the suction really only occurs where the opening is, not along the whole head. What this really is, is a handheld vacuum on a stick.

Now, if you've ever thought, "I wish my ****buster was on a stick", you'll love it, and I use my regularly because it's pretty good. My only real complaint is that inside the canister the hole that all the dirt enters through is REALLY small and there's a flap covering it which further impedes objects getting through. The hole is about the size of a quarter, so if you like to suck up stray legos or the pieces of food your kids like to decorate the floor with, you'll likely find them wedged inside the head.

On the plus side it's SUPER light, the handle is telescopic, easy to empty, and has a pretty long cord.
Was amazing while it lasted
April 10, 2016
When I first got this, I was thrilled with it. We only have tile flooring and for that, it has excellent suction power, picking up even stubborn large chunks of dirt. Though I hate a cord on anything, this cord is long enough to only annoy me slightly when having to move from room to room. It is lightweight and I find it easy to maneuver. The handheld vac, which i really wanted too, is not a great tool. You have to add an attachment to have a logical "suck" nozzle and it seems clunky to me so we almost never use it though it was one of the key perks of purchasing this. I say I was thrilled with it because after 6 months of using it regularly, the handle no longer locks into place. When I try to turn the vacuum, only the handle turns making it very difficult to do anything but go straight. The motor is still great and it vacuums really well but I don't think it is worth the frustration of a spinning handle and having no directional control. We tried numerous ways to fix it but nothing works. So excellent quality vacuum motor but poor construction. I guess you just have to decide if $50 is too much for a 6 month vacuum cleaner.
So so....not great, not awful
October 2, 2015
I bought it to use around the house--we have concrete floors throughout the house, and we have a regular vacuum, but it's so bulky. I wanted something that was easy to whip out and clean easily with, while being able to maneuver around the kitchen table/chairs easily. At first I was kind of ehhh about the width of the 'mouth'/sucking up area, but it works out for the prior stated reason..maneuverability.

Also, the handle telescopes out to different lengths so you can adjust it based on your comfort...and also for storing purposes, although it doesn't take much room even when all the way extended.

UPDATE 6 weeks later....

So one thing I am updating my review about is the sucking power. I have decided this thing is more loud than anything, and loud does not equal great sucking power. The best this thing does at vacuuming up is the cat hair tumbleweeds that occur from my 3 long haired cats. Other than that, I am hard pressed to get much sucked up, even when you roll right over the junk on the floor. Perhaps this is better for carpeted floors. One thing that I have wondered, is if the main attachment that it's shown in the picture with, if it had the little vacuum roller that spins, like a real vacuum does, I think it would be a better performer, however, I realize that's not possible with a set up like this one.

Today, I tried out the little attachments for the first time, using it as a handheld, thinking that a narrower attachment might do better...I used the little upholstery brush, that is about 4-5 inches wide. I was trying to suck up cat litter that was on the floor...I was just basically pushing it around. I then put on the narrow, 1x1" nozzle attachment, and it sucked just fine. So I would say this vacuum is good for crevices, perhaps in your car, if you can get the cord to reach, or cleaning up light dust and cat hair in between real vacuumings.

I guess you get your money's worth, although I have nothing to compare it to (I paid $44.99 at the time), I expected a bit more, but I don't feel it's worth returning. I would however, not buy this again...I would probably wait, and pay a little more.
It sure sucks!
September 8, 2015
UPDATE: I bought this almost exactly a year ago, and yesterday while I was using it the dust container cracked! I'm so upset! I've used it once a week, so about 52 times. I tried taping the container together, but the crack makes it impossible for the attachments to stay attached so I can't really use it anymore. Noooooooooooooooooo!!! This vacuum was the best. RIP little orange VonHaus. -2 stars for breaking just short of the 1 yr mark. :(

ORIGINAL REVIEW: This little vacuum is awesome! Its a little loud, but has some serious suction, so much so that you might need someone to stand on your area rugs while you use it. It sucked my hallway runner right up! Great for kitty litter and HAIR (human and cat alike!) Seriously, the amount of hair in this thing after a single use is mind boggling. After reading some of the other reviews I was worried it wouldn't work on rugs, but it works great!
Scratches Wood Flooring
June 26, 2015
The positives: This is a nifty and powerful little vacuum and I really wish it would have worked for me. I love the fact that it is extremely lightweight and can even be hung on a hook. You can also use as a hand vac, but I found it a little cumbersome having to remove the cord to detach the long handle. The micro vacuum attachment kit does fit this.

The negatives: This vacuum DOES NOT work for hardwood floors. This vacuum repeatedly scratched my new engineered woven bamboo flooring (considered 25% harder than red oak). It did more damage in one minute that my five year old still hasn't accomplished. The suction is very strong for this little vacuum and any piece of dirt or grain that does not get sucked up stays underneath the plastic housing and will drag and gouge across the flooring. Some of the scratches were severe enough where I could feel the indentation with my fingernail.

I really wanted this vacuum to work. I tried applying felt pads underneath but they didn't stick. I also contacted the manufacter to see if they could resolve the issue, but they were not interested and told me to just return to amazon.

I think I would like this better if the wheels didn't leave black scuff ...
September 7, 2017
Day 1 of use. I think I would like this better if the wheels didn't leave black scuff marks on the hardwood floors. They don't rub off with shoes either. It takes hard scrubbing with a big pencil eraser to get it off which leaves a smudge on the floor. Maybe covering the wheels with painters tape or duct tape would fix it. Dirt Devil didn't think through this one very well or maybe they are going to be selling wheel boots next. The upside is this motor is strong enough to really pick up things. It manages the guinea pig bedding and bits of hay with ease. It also did an amazing job on my large throw rugs as long as you don't get too close to the edges.
Loud and heavy for a stick vacuum
February 19, 2017
This is a very loud vacuum! I thought my last stick vacuum was loud so I decided to buy this thinking it would only be as bad as that. No, it's much worse, and I think I am going to wear hearing protection when I use this...It's that bad. It has good suction, but is pretty heavy for a stick vacuum. I will not return this because it is fine to clean my floors, but I won't be buying another one.
I like almost everything about this little vacuum
December 19, 2016
I like almost everything about this little vacuum, with the exception of a major flaw in the design...the canister constantly falls off because the vacuum doesn't not have good balance and tips over. Once that canister falls off, it's a struggle to put it back on and it never seems to latch quite right. The grey button plunger that holds it to the unit is too short for the slot that it goes into and so the canister sits somewhat loosely on the front of the vacuum, waiting to fall right back off if bumped or tipped over. It wouldn't hurt to have a little longer cord, too. The suction is great and it picks up dust, dirt and crumbs like a champ though.
It does a good job picking up dirt on hard surface floors as ...
November 7, 2016
Loud, clunky, hard to get the dirt collector back in once you empty it. It does a good job picking up dirt on hard surface floors as long as its not closer than an inch or so to a wall or something. Oh did I mention how LOUD it was.
Feels a little flimsy
March 25, 2016
I bought this and thought it was a small vac for a entire household. It is only for wood floors. OK that was my mistake and I returned it. I love the 30-40 dollar vacs, I think they are good value and usually last as long as much more expensive models.I just did not like the cheap plastic feel and chunkiness of this model. No offense Dirt Devil, I have owned and do own their products for years. This model you might steer clear of, unless you only have very flat floors and never need a brush agitator (It doesn't have one).My 2 cents.
Good but not perfect
May 26, 2014
Good not perfect. This could be a great vacuum but some design features spoil the benefits. It is powerful, it stands upright on its own, it is corded so batteries getting old won't be a concern, it is easy to empty, and has a HEPA filter. The cons are that it blows so much air outward (exhaust) that you have to plan carefully when using it or you will send lighter dust and dirt airborne. The body sits very low on the stick so I cannot easily reach the area under kitchen cabinets (toe kick) because the cabinet hits the dust container. I have to lower the handle a few inches off the floor to get it to reach. The unit is also heavy at the bottom so if you have to lift the unit to swing it sideways as in to continue sweeping an adjacent area, it is awkward and some will have to use two hands to do so. I kept this vacuum because it picks up dirt very well and the price was right but I wish I didn't have the aforementioned problems to work around.

More work then it is worth
May 30, 2017
Does not pick up much of anything. We got this to vacuum our hardwood floor around where our toddler eats and it picks up very little before we have to clean out the filter. Our child is not that messy the machine just clogs easily. Also the head falls off easily and we are constantly battling to reattach it.
Super cheaply made plastic parts. Very flimsy wheels. Vacuum head will scratch floors.
May 21, 2017
Very cheaply made plastic bottom portion that has the "wheels" and suction head. The bottom "working end" portion of this vacuum is very cheap plastic. Wheels did not look like they would hold up at all. The plastic suction head just scrapes on the floor. If you have wood floors, this WILL scratch them badly. Returned for refund and bought something better.
Won't Replace Larger Vacuums
April 23, 2017
This is a handheld on a stick. I thought I would be able to replace my full sized vacuum for my small apartment, but the VonHaus just doesn't have enough suction to clean well. It did not pick up a popcorn seed that was on the floor, and was not able to manage a small dried out leaf.I had high hopes when I bought it, but have been disappointed with the performance.
Sent it back - not good for our purposes.
February 11, 2017
This will work very well for some. It DOES have great suction. It's the only thing that will get the dirt out of the crevices of my welcome mat.

However, it does not work well on carpet. I used it to vacuum my daughter's room, then went over it with a different bagless vac and picked up tons of dust.

I returned it, though, because the one we received had a high-pitched, loud motor. I couldn't stand it - but I'm sensitive to sound. Also, our man vac is a Miele which is very quiet. Perhaps I'm spoiled. But my hoover cordless doesn't make such a squeal.
Doesn't suck (not good for a vacuum cleaner)
August 30, 2016
I really wanted to like this, especially after someone said it changed their life. So much so, in fact, that I kept it long past the return date even though I knew I didn't like it. It's loud, it's poorly designed and it has very little suction. For get it on carpets. It's also no more convenient than any other vacuum. I wouldn't mind the crappy design (cheap hose attachment and the heads just pop off the bottom for other attachments) if it actually WORKED. It doesn't. I mean, it does to a degree, but not enough to actually clean anything besides maybe a bit of fine dirt. It won't suck up anything heavier than coffee grounds and even those don't get lifted entirely. Animal hair on carpets? Pffft, forget it, it won't work, even with the (separately purchased) carpet attachment. I'm really mad at myself for not returning this right away. Save your money.

I recently purchased a Shark Cordless and I really like it. It picks stuff up, including pet hair on carpets. Plus, it's cordless with any easy charge stand. Worth the extra $50.

Disappointed
August 13, 2017
Pros: Has great suction power. Does a good job on wood floors. Good for light vacuuming.Cons: Doesn't fit under most furniture. No hose attachment for tight spots or ceiling spiders. Canister is challenging to get back on. Unit puts out a lot of heat and falls over easily.
Awkward
April 26, 2017
I based this purchase off of the reviews, but I am surprised that I am not very happy with it. It's an awkward weight, so if you're not holding it, it tips over and hits the ground very easily. The filter is not easy to reassemble when emptied. This will be a temporary solution for us.
Its good but easily tips over
February 20, 2017
It's good but I expected more somehow the suction power is high, but it doesn't pick up as much dirt as it should, if you compare the drive pick up with the amperage this thing has, something doesn't add up. Also the unit will tip over or tip to the side if you move it fast enough because the wait is just not properly centered on it. Especially on hard floors.Bottom line is just meh 4/10
Blows everything all over the floor
May 19, 2016
This works OK but so much air comes out of it that it blows stuff that you are trying to vacuum up all over the place. I end up chasing dirt, pet hair with this trying to pick it up.
Mediocre for Pet Hair Vs. Hardwood Flooring
April 5, 2016
For the price, this model IS a good deal: genuinely lightweight; compact; powerful motor; simple controls and very easy to assemble, use and empty. It does work well on hardwood or tile floors, but only what you're trying to pick up has some heft to it (think spilled cereal or dry cat food, like in all the stick vacuum demos). But if you're after mainly dog fur, dust bunnies, your everyday lightweight debris and you have hardwood floors, AVOID this model: the exhaust (which is forceful, given the 10 amp motor) vents downwards and from the FRONT of the canister. This means (yup, you guessed it) fur and dust gets blown clear of the vacuum as you approach. After a few tries of comically chasing Siberian Husky fur across hardwood floors, sucking up perhaps half of it through repeated chasing, we remembered why we never buy Dirt Devil cheapies in the first place.
You really should lean it against something when you store it because it will fall over easily which could crack the plastic
October 27, 2014
I've had this just over one month. The suction is surprisingly strong. The construction is cheap plastic. The head is "floppy" so if you have to pick it up it swings down and just hangs in the air. You really should lean it against something when you store it because it will fall over easily which could crack the plastic. The dirt cup is a big problem. The first time I emptied it I was able to replace it into the vac with no problem. The second time, I cannot get the dirt cup to latch onto the vac. We've worked over an hour and have everything lined up, but it won't latch. Unfortunately, it is three days too late for me to return it. I called the Dirt Devil help line, but they could not give me assistance. They just told me to make sure the filter is lined up correctly and other than that they don't have any instructions regarding this problem. There are better products out there and I will have to purchase another vac, this time probably with a bag.

Don't waste your money
June 13, 2017
Horrible vacuum. I seriously don't know how this has such good ratings. I'm so disappointed. This is made just as cheaply as the $15 Bissell you can buy at WalMart. The bottom attachment will not stay on, a wheel broke off the second time I used it, and it is so loud! You'd think the loudness is because it has awesome suction but it doesn't. I'm so disappointed in this item. I'm hoping that the company will refund all my money (I bought the warranty also). The only reason I'm giving this one star is because you have to use a star rating.

The vacuum despite having a very narrow head worked well. Two days ago, after approximately 2 months of use (maybe 12 vacuumings), I went to plug the vacuum in (which has to be done repeatedly due to the very short cord) when the vacuum tipped over and broke. The entire unit is held together by a very small plastic tab that spring-locks the dirt canister to the suction motor. When the vacuum tipped over the plastic tab that is no more than 1/4 inch in size cracked and the unit is now useless. Tossed it and ordered the Bissel for $20 more that I should have purchased originally.
Waste of money
September 30, 2016
I bought this vacuum to use for our pontoon boat. I was very disappointed in the vacuum, it has very poor suction and it hardly spins the brush attachment. A broom worked better to clean the boat.
I bought this vacuum after reading the positive reviews on it. It is a terrible vacuum, would never purchase it again.
I replaced it with a shark vacuum and I am much happier.

August 30, 2016
Awful vaccum, the bottom portion of the vacuum where the suction happens you would think the entire width is use but only has an opening of 3-4 inches! Who can vacuum a room with such small openings?? And as a plug-in, despite the size of this, the vacuum made such a LOUD noise! Returned the product.
Picks up dry bread crumbs!

Photo 1. What the VonHaus with turbo attachment found in my carpet after 10 minutes of vacuuming.
Photo 2. What the Bissell Cleanview ($5 less if purchased at Target) found in my carpet in 10 minutes, five minutes later.
Photo 3. A side by side comparison
P.S. Be prepared to accidentally bump the on/off switch at least three times/vacuuming session.

Too noisy to use
September 29, 2017
This vac is painfully noisy and spreads dust everywhere. It so loud it hurts my ears and I asked my wife to shut it off for fear of both of us suffering hearing damage from the noise. I would return it if I could. I wont donate it to a charity, it is in my opinion unsafe to use.
Don't waste your money.
September 27, 2017
If you are looking for a small vac for wood floors, this is not the vac you want. It doesn't pick up all of the dirt, just blows it around.Very dissatisfied with this purchase. I had already thrown the packaging away so can't return it.
Buy at your own risk.
July 20, 2017
After the first use the filter cup fell out. No one in the family has been able to place it so that it will close. I have had other Dirt Devil products but this is the worse.
Disappointed with the design of this vacuum
June 17, 2017
Disappointed with the design of this vacuum. It blows air out the front and blows the dirt and 'dust bunnies' away from the vacuum. I really wanted to like it because it stands up and most do not.
Very difficult to use !!!

I cannot figure out how to put this thing back together after cleaning it ! Does anyone have the instructions ? Sorry, I moved and cannot find instructions.
