Good bass coming from the soundbar without a separate woofer
November 28, 2014
Great sound bar for the price if you are not looking for a wireless subwoofer. This thing puts out a decent amount of base for its size. The sound quality is a significant improvement over the stock speakers and easily fills a whole room. Only thing is missing is Bluetooth but they have a more expensive version for that. Easy solution is if you have a smart TV or apple TV or roku is just to use Pandora to stream music.

The best feature I like is how you can use your TV remote with this as well as though it can block your TV signal if sitting too close to the front of it. To turn it on it has the able to copy the signal and shoot it out the rear of the sound bar like a repeater so it solves this common problem if you are setting your sound bar in a TV Stand in front of the TV, genius!
Great Sound Bar But With Some Glitches Getting my DISH Remote to Control the Sound Bar
November 22, 2014
A wonderful sound bar for the price! Much better than the "tinny" sounding TV speakers, the downside of many flat screen TVs. However, I had a problem getting my DISH remote to control the soundbar. I finally solved the problem in a way that I'll now describe:

First, I hooked up the supplied optical audio cable directly from my DISH receiver (my TV doesn't have an optical audio output) to the TV input on the sound bar, which was a mistake as I should have hooked it to the BD/DVD input per the instruction on p. 6 of the owner's manual. Once I did this, I was able to program the sound bar with the DISH remote control per the instructions on pp. 12-13.

When I carefully followed the instruction in the third bullet of the note on the top of p. 12 (which I precisely did when I incorrectly used the sound bar TV input), my DISH remote would NOT control the sound bar -- even though the note says that it will! Apparently, you must use the BD/DVD input on the sound bar.

Of course, this procedure asssumes that you previously programmed and used the DISH remote to control the mute, volume, and power on/off of the TV (see the DISH manual).

This same procedure may or may not be appropriate with a DIRECT TV satellite system remote.

I hope that my missadventure (and subsequent recovery) helps those of you with a DISH satellite system.
TV sounds so crystal clear now
November 22, 2014
After all these years I now have exceptional sound coming direct from my TV. I bought this for half price during an Amazon lightning deal and it's worth every penny. I mainly just use this for watching TV. I have a true 7 channel surround system receiver for watching movies but I like the simplicity of this for watching TV, especially since it operates with my regular remote. This sound bar will not replace a true surround sound but does add a very rich full sound to the room. Fairly easy to set up. Volume, on/off, and mute works with my Dish remote. Note: I had to set it up through the TV's remote for it to work with my Dish remote and make sure you set up all functions at once. Otherwise, as I found out, one command will cancel all the others. Nice looking. Blends in very nicely with my shiny black LG TV.
This is the YAS-103 without Bluetooth
November 18, 2014
If you are worried about the lack of reviews, go look at reviews for the YAS-103. The 103 is the same box as the 93 but the 103 has Bluetooth connection. Only difference.
I don't need Bluetooth so I went with the bargain priced 93.
And I don't need this thing to pump out stadium-filling audophile sound. I want to watch movies and I want full, rich sound. The 93 does it and at a nice price. Five stars.
Excellent, well built and great price
November 17, 2014
First, when you decided on buying a sound bar, make sure you check what surround sound reproduction is claimed to be reproduced (3.1, 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound). This one is 7.1 so no wonder it's more expensive than other sound bards (plus it's Yamaha).

The setup was a breeze. It comes with an optical cable '4.9 ft' (that's the only cable in the box. If your TV doesn't have an optical Out socket then you'll need to get your own. like RCA. I recommend looking at the product manual PDF on Yamaha website).

I've tested the sound quality using the sound tests videos available online, and while the surround sound from the 'back' is questionable (those online tests are unofficial), I still think it's a great sound bar. I kept turning it on and off to compare the sound to my TV sound, and it definitely delivers much better sound, whether it's a movie or video games. I haven't faced any delays in sound but the remote has a functionality to adjust delays if they occur.

It blocked the front of my TV but there's a 'repeater' function that allows your TV remote IR signal to pass through the sound bar, so I didn't need to re-adjust the height (which is possible by removing the bottom stands).

Finally, the finishing (piano black) looks very neat.

Great sound system. easy to setup. customer service was very helpful troubleshooting the sub woofer and helped be get everything setup in 10 minutes.
am I happy I got this soundbar
August 29, 2016
Boy, am I happy I got this soundbar! It's just the perfect size, the soundbar fits perfectly under my 55-inch LG TV, and the two rear speakers provide the surround effect I was looking for. Crystal-clear sound, the subwoofer is also the right size, not too big, and can be placed anywhere in the room. All in all, very satisfied with my purchase and would definitely recommend this system.
This system is extraordinary.

unbelievable sound and so easy to hook up. You barely notice its presence but the room comes alive when using it both for movies and music.
I have had this for about two months and I love it. It sounds great and works well
July 12, 2015
I spent a while trying to find a sound bar that had 4.1 0r 5.1 channel sound that did not break my budget. My choice came down to two systems the VIZIO SB3851 38-Inch 5.1 Channel Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer and Satellite Speakers and this system (Samsung HW-J370 4.1). After reading through about 200 reviews of the Vizio and visiting both of the manufacturers websites I decided to go with this system since I did not have to place the subwoofer within the line of sight of the system. I wanted a system that I could place behind my sectional and I got what I wanted. The system does not have as many inputs as the Visio but all I wanted was a digital audio port. This system also works seamlessly with my Samsung TV. It has an auto audio on when the TV is turned on so I hardly even need to think about the sound bar, except for the volume.

The subwoofer operates independently from the rear speakers. The rear speakers come with about 15 feet of speaker cord so you can get about a 30 minute spread with the radio receiver in-between. Remote is small and simple to use.

Bottom line: I have had this for about two months and I love it. It sounds great and works well. You will not be disappointed.

Pretty good sound! Simple to setup.
August 18, 2015
I tend to be pretty picky about sound. The sound on this bar is pretty good. There are times when I wish I had a separate subwoofer but overall, it produces good sound. I read the reviews where you shouldn't turn it up too loud and that was my main concern when purchasing it, but I haven't had the issue yet. We have a decent size living room and sometimes when watching a movie, I like to turn it up to really give the movie an experience. So far, I haven't heard any clipping or any bad sound coming from it. I had to read the instructions to figure out what the lights mean and how to operate it to get it to sync to my remote, but once everything was set up, I didnt have to do anything after that. It was a very simple process I keep the remote around in case it doesn't turn on with the TV, but other than that, turning on the TV and the bar with one remote is very handy. It's also nice that I can control the volume of it with my TV remote as well.I gave it 4 stars just because there are times when I wish it had a little more treble and a little more bass. But for the price and having subwoofers built in, I am pretty happy with it.
I like it a lot
June 22, 2015
Got this on a discount through Amazon so well worth the price. I like it a lot, especially the sound leveling feature. I have the digital coax cable coming from the tv, so only needs one input and plays the sound on whatever is on the tv no matter one the TV input is (cable, Roku, Xbox). Only issue is the remote delay feature is a little hard to determine if it's on or functioning. I like how it learns remote functions so it helps cut down on how many remotes you needed. Sound quality is sufficient for us, better than the tv speakers and a low end soundbar we are replacing. We are no audiophiles but have no complaints at all. I would buy again, and maybe consider paying more for the bluetooth version.
A good purchase for the typical home.
January 10, 2015
I bought this sound bar to replace a surround sound system that had too many wires and that was difficult to clearly hear speech. I very much like getting rid of the tangle of wires and the separate subwoofer, front speakers, and surround speakers. Our TV is located in a less than ideal room (the living room) for viewing movies, so the surround sound has never been terrific, regardless of which system I was using. This bar does a decent job at simulating surround sound. My wife and I were watching a movie a few nights ago when a phone rang. We both thought it was her phone ringing across the room, but it was really in the movie! The clarity of speech is slightly better than my other systems. I have some hearing loss, so the lack of clarity is probably not the fault of the sound bar.Setup was fairly simple except for one issue. After some research, I learned that some TVs will not output optical sound from input sources using HDMI. So, my satellite receiver, for example, is connected to the TV by HDMI. I could not get optical sound out of the TV to the sound bar. Instead, I had to connect the satellite receiver directly to the sound bar. So, if you plan on using your TV to switch between audio sources, check your TV's optical audio out to make sure it works with all your DVDs, receivers, etc. This sound bar typically sits in front of the bottom of your TV and might block the IR sensor of the TV. So, they have designed a very nice "pass-through" feature that receives a signal sent by your remote control and passes it through to the TV.I'm pleased with the clean look and sound of the unit.
Great unit with just a single shortcoming.
December 29, 2014
When we moved, I ended up leaving the my surround sound speakers with the old house. Our new house had a great room with 20 foot ceilings, so putting new speakers in wasn't practical. With the built-in speakers, the TV sounded faint and hollow. I have our TV mounted on the wall above our fireplace. When looking at sound bars, I wanted something that had a good wattage, but didn't have a sub-woofer as there really wasn't a good place to put it that would look good in the room. I decided to purchase this unit during one of the holiday flash sales and have been really happy with the performance. It is also compatible with my Logitech Harmony remote which is nice as I can control everything with the single remote and not need the remote the unit came with.As far as sound goes, the unit sounds great and fills the large room. Our great room is about 400 square feet with 20 foot ceilings and a large bay window. I was worried about whether this could fill the room or not when I first purchased it, but once it was hooked up it didn't disappoint. The sound is full and even though there is no sub-woofer, you still get a good amount of bass. This is a great way to add a surround sound feel without having to add a bunch of speakers and a receiver. With this hooked up to my TV, I haven't had to reconnect my Yamaha 7.1 receiver or re-purchase a bunch of speakers. Really happy with the sound.Unfortunately, the power cord for this unit is attached and can not be replaced with a longer cord. The included cord is not extremely long. Having a TV mounted on the wall, with this sitting on the fireplace mantle, the cord was not long enough to be placed through the cable conduit and reach the outlet. I ended up having to use an extension cord run through the conduit to be able to power the unit. Had the cord been removable like the one on my TV (which is also a 2-prong connector), I could have simply bought a longer power cord and not needed an extension cord. This is the reason for deducting one star.Overall though, I have been really happy with the unit.

I got this YAS-93 a couple of weeks ago during a lightning sale. I had been looking for an acceptable solution that my wife would like for our bedroom and not be large like the home theater setup in our bonus room. After looking at the specs I decided to take a chance and pulled the trigger. When I got it home I connected it to our DIsh Joey unit and mounted it on the wall.Controls:The separate controller for this comes with volume, bass and some of other controls that escape at the moment. The controller is well laid out and easy to use. The sound bar shows a row of lights either going up or down when you are adjusting the volume or bass, so it is nice to see visual feedback. The sound bar also has the same controls on the sound bar itself.Sound:I spent some time moving from the tinny sound of my 32" Panasonic LCD and the YAS-93. I could hear a fairly discernible difference from the two. The YAS-93 had a bit of bass and a fuller sound. The dialogue was easy to hear and sounded good with the rest of the mix.So, I am happy with the purchase and can recommend this unit to anyone who is looking to use it for a bedroom and does not want to deal with a receiver and so on.
Yamaha YAS-93 all in one sound
November 26, 2014
Yamaha's YAS-93 combines the newest sound field technology with natural spacious stereo sound. When given a good source you will notice effective boosting of background conversations and voices. The Yamaha YAS-93 offers comprehensive coverage of audio frequencies. Whether you like rock, rap, or movies YAS-93 is a practical accompaniment to a led flat screen that combines horns with doses of bass. For those looking for a recommendation on this product see the next paragraph(s) for in depth details.Complete with oodles of inputs and excellent efficiency the Yamaha YAS-93 is an all in one solution for those looking to cut an amp 6 wires and a sub out of their setup. Measurements from my kill-a watt power strip register a mere 8-15 watts of draw depending on volume. Specs are @ 22, i am just not seeing that.Cymbals suffer compare to my sharp sd-at 1000 with pinnacle and energy speakers fitted, while flutes are alive and well. No comparison to my 8" energy sub, but then this whole unit draws about the same in watts. While writing this i tried the coaxial input as it ran from my x3 from my pc. The fiio is good at driving headphones and allows 5.1 sound on my receiver. No such luck with the Yamaha YAS-93 as its surround button option is just a mode selector with no additional options. My sd-at has movie, std, night, and music options. The Yamaha YAS-93 fuzzed on bjork surrounded ( the x3 also fuzzed my pro 500 Yamaha's) this is due to high gain options and treble/bass boosting as well as a 6 volume indication on the sound bar. I sense this was mainly in the front firing drivers. It did linger for a while and raises questions of a return.UN-boxing is a matter of removing 2 endcaps of styrofoam and a wrapper. Intructions (thin optical cable) taped to bottom of box batteries and remote on the end caps. There are some extra rubber pads that are loose and easy to lose. Nothing excessive.Generally would recommend inclines or the Yamaha YSP-1400BL if you want very few complaints. These options ring in @ multiple times the total bill of the 93. I really was hoping for a sub woofer out but there is no outputs. Fuzzing is gone now, but given that it reared its ugly head i would say that build quality is 6 out of 10. Sound is @ 9 factoring in expectations & other reviews as well as price. Nice daily deal. Bass is good and a 7.5 for the size/power usage.PS Yamaha YAS-93 is green thanks.

Great for music, so-so for TV/movies
October 29, 2016
Nice soundbar. Not entirely wireless. Hate that I have wires sticking out for the side speakers. I'm not a fan of the fact that you can't change the sound modes. Other Samsung soundbars I have provide options for gaming, sports, movies, etc but this just has one mode. The sound quality could be better but does fine for a family room TV. With music playing from it it has amazing bass and actually sounds better than when watching TV. I would almost rather use this just for music since it doesn't really provide me with the movie viewing experience.

Quality system, good value, would buy again
September 20, 2016
Good sound and easy to set up. Oddly enough it doesn't integrate with my 2015 Samsung 4k tv, so I have to use 2 remotes for sound. More a nuisance than a problem. Also, as noted in other reviews, the rear speakers are not totally wireless (although none within a reasonable price range are!), as they L & R speakers must connect via speaker wire to the rear sound unit. That unit is wirelessly connected to sound bar, so it does cut down on exposed wire but doesn't eliminate it. Its very easy to connect any bluetooth device (e.g. phone or tablet) to the bar and play music. It would be nice to be able to put a password on it, as it appears that anyone who discovers it can play to it. That all said, I am happy with the product and would recommend it with the above caveats.
All-in-all the soundbar is a nice piece of equipment for the money.
February 8, 2016
I purchased a 40" Samsung UHD Smart TV a few weeks back after researching the death out of them. I also wanted a soundbar that would seamlessly integrate with the TV so a set of Samsung speakers would be the obvious choice.

My TV sits inside a cabinet so the size of both my TV and soundbar where limited to 38" across. The 40" TV checked in at just over 36 inches in width, just as other 40" brands did. I've always sworn by Samsung products that have displays on them. My computer monitors are Samsungs, my smartphone is Samsung, my kids wife and kids tablets are Samsung and I chose a Samsung TV.

Finding a soundbar, particularly one that was at least 4.1 and would also fit into my cabinet left few options. There was a VIZIO model and a couple of the Samsung soundbars checked in at under the 38" I needed. I'm not an audiophile so the price was more important to me than most of the other considerations. I chose the Samsung 4.1 HW-J370 soundbar with subwoofer and two satellite speakers.

Everything came packaged neatly and securely and was a breeze to hook up and get running. Both the subwoofer and the wireless receiver automatically connected with the main unit (soundbar) as soon as I plugged them in. The model TV I purchased didn't come with wireless sound connect so I opted to go with the optical cable to hook to the TV.

As soon as you hook up the optical cable, go into the Soundbar menu and turn on the AutoConnect feature. This will power up your soundbar when you turn on the TV. If you want to control the volume with your universal cable remote, you'll have to set the remote to find the soundbar code using the same process used when installing the TV, just do it for the soundbar too.

The sound on the speakers is crisp and clear and the subwoofer adds that need bass particularly when watching sports or an action movie. The rear satellite speakers are wired to the receiver so it's not completely "wireless." You get about 15ft of speaker wire for each rear speaker so you can cover a good sized room with them.

One con I have is that since my TV sits on a surface on the supplied stand, as opposed to wall mount, the soundbar does not fit under the TV properly and it blocks the infrared receiver that picks up the remote inputs. Figuring both products are Samsung, and 2015 models, you would think that something so fundamental would not be overlooked. To get around the short stand on the TV, I built a small platform to lift the TV above the soundbar and now the TV can be used with the remote and the soundbar itself blocks the stand so you don't have to worry about seeing the stand.

if you have a television with poor built in speakers
March 3, 2016
I purchased this with the hopes that it would miraculously simulate a surround sound system. I knew it was a long shot and indeed, didn't even come close. Basically, if you have a television with poor built in speakers, I could see using this set of speakers to supplement the sound from the front of the room, but these in no way compare to surround sound. For me, the additional device under my TV, along with the added wires and additional remote (who needs another remote right?) made this device more of a hindrance than it was worth. In the end, I connected it up to my gaming console in the basement and use it strictly for that. Kind of a waste of money though.

I'm not impressed, I guess my TV's speakers were pretty good. The surround sound adds a bit to some movies, but I had an RCA TV with 2-speaker simulated surround sound over 20 years ago that sounded more realistic. The clear voice feature provides minimal enhancement.

Not really loud enough and doesn't work via bluetooth. So, for my TV it is OK.
Can't program the remote.
December 1, 2014
Received this sound bar on Sat., 11/29/2014. I got it hooked up okay, but for the life of me cannot get the remote programmed. I changed batteries and tried everything, but the remote won't program. We have Direct TV and I used the original remote that came with the TV. Question....how can the remote be programmed if the TV and the sound bar are turned off? No lights come on to tell me anything when trying to program. I wrote a note to Yamaha, but haven't heard back from them yet. I think the manual has very poor instructions, so I'm probably doing something wrong. So, for now, the sound bar is working, but to change the volumn or mute it, I have to physically go to the sound bar and press the buttons. Is anyone else having the same problem? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Note: I am not an electronic whiz, so I've done my best with the directions given. My other sound bar was much easier to use and had no problem programming the remote.
O.K. for the sale price.
November 24, 2014
I bought this on a lightning deal and for the money its O.K. The TV I have the speakers are back firing so its an improvement over the TV's speakers. I would not want to pay the regular price for it though. There is no sub-woofer sound(how can it with 3 inch speakers?)and should be called bass instead. The bass has a hollow sound to them also when turned up. So I will keep it but am not blown away or anything close.
I'm a little disappointed in the sound quality
November 15, 2014
I'm a little disappointed in the sound quality. I've had good luck with Yamaha sound equipment in the past but this product doesn't seem to have the same rich and clear sound I've come to expect in their products. It is much better than the TV speakers but that's not saying much, since the ones in the TV are junk. Since I purchased this for half price, I don't feel too ripped off. If I would have paid the full $250.00 for it, I probably would have returned it for a refund. As is, its probably worth what I paid for it.

Decent sound, but it lacks the punch.

Be ware "Wireless" rear speakers. While you don't have to run wire from the sound bar to the speakers. They still have wires that come from a sending unit. So they are not fully wireless is that what your looking for. I went ahead and set the unit and so far I'm very happy with the sound.

I conducted an experiment with this. I had my wife close her eyes and then asked her if I was using the sound bar or the tv sound. I switched channels, and randomly turned from one to the other. She had absolutely no idea which sound source I was using. After the experiment we decided that it was time to return this.
Not worth the money
December 28, 2014
Most of the reviews on this sound bar are quite good but the only thing I can figure is that most people have TVs that sound terrible. This sound bar adds some amount of bass if you turn the bass all the way up but otherwise the TV sound is about the same as this product. Also, the Clear Voice feature just does not work. I can't tell if it is on or off. I never got as far as teaching the remote so I can't comment on that. Otherwise it is easy to hook up and works equally well with analog or optical inputs. It is certainly not worth the money I paid for it so I returned it.Update: Bought a Zvox 320 and it is worlds better. Check this out.

Sounded great in a small room for a couple weeks. I used it for my tv and music. Then the bass started to tear the speakers and the buzzing got so bad I couldn't listen to them. Had to return it. Not worth it.
Built-In Subs Not Ideal
December 8, 2014
With all the great reviews and the price, I figured I couldn't go wrong. The YAS-93 doesn't have blutootth which doesn't help it's case but the fact that the subs are built into this bar are the reason I'm giving it a low review.I didn't expect it to replace a 6.1 or 7.1 surround sound system, but it just didn't perform the way I wanted. It hooked up very easily to my Samsung plasma TV and watching normal programming, it sounds much better than the TV speakers, which isn't hard to do. It's when I watched a movie did the real issue present itself. The sound bar sat on the TV stand in front of my TV and any loud action audio caused the entire stand and possibly TV housing to vibrate terribly. I wasn't able to find a suitable way to muffle the vibration. There is a reason subs sit on the floor and it's too bad this bar doesn't have a wireless buddy to hang out with because then it would be a real contender.
Disappointing Bass
November 19, 2014
Last night I unpacked the Yamaha YAS-93 Sound Bar with great excitement. It was very easy to hook up. But, when the sound came up I was very disappointed. There is almost no bass at all, I don't know how Yamaha can claim there is a subwoofer built in. The mids, around 4K, are very boxy sounding, definitely set too high in the mix. The mid-highs to the highs were much better, the sound was very crisp and clear. On the plus side the dialog is easy to understand but this could not make up for the lack of bass and the boxy mids. I have already packed it up and am ready to return it. I've already gone back to my old Infiniti speakers!

Not what we expected
March 19, 2016
We have had the worst time trying to hook this thing up. Our Samsung television recognized it and linked to it. But it wasn't right. So I called Samsung and they said if we have anything else connected to the television (Blu-Ray and cable box), we would have to use the optical cable. We did that, but the sound is still not real good and it seems to keep switching modes on us. In our old house we had a cheap ($39) system that worked much better than this one.
Better off with a plain soundbar
February 19, 2016
Not compatible to majority of samsung tv's.
Sub and surround speakers barely have sound when volume is max, NO bass what so ever.

Better off with a plain soundbar. I have a LG soundbar for an old LG tv and it works extremely better than this on even though it doesn't have rear speakers.
Sounds good, terrible for multiroom usage though
September 2, 2015
Sound is good for just home theater usage. However, if you want to link it up for multiroom use with the Samsung software, totally useless.

If it is not and you can determine, get ready to shell out another $20 as this is what this one costs to replace.OLD HDMI CONTROL TECHNOLOGY - Also, modern TV technology is designed to be the master control via HDMI ARC Technology.Summary, this model is a waste of money pumped to the "top" via a daily deal.If you find this review helpful or feel I have left something good/bad out, let me know.
The sound doesn't synch with picture, movies and TV look like old dubbed version of Mothra versus Godzilla
December 24, 2014
This sound bar was easy to hook up. That said, the problem with this unit is that there is a slight delay between sound delivery and the picture on the screen. Because of that everything looks like an old, dubbed version of 'Mothra versus Godzilla'.Lips move but the sound isn't in synch with the picture. Have tried calling Yamaha customer service (2 times now and they keep saying they will call back) and haven't been able to get help or an answer from anyone there to see if there is a solution to this. Television is brand new and used the supplied optical cable to hook it up. Also the learning feature had to be gone through several times... even though the sound bar beeped that it had learned a function using the TV remote. What it tells you it has 'learned' and what it actually has learned are two different things. Except for the bass, no one in the house seems to notice much difference between the TV's original speakers and the sound bar, except for what I call the ' vintage sci-fi movie' effect.Perhaps Yamaha could use that in their marketing campaign for this? Have some of their other products and this is disappointing.

I realized this was refurbished but I didn't expect the speakers to be torn. I sent it back and had to pay my own shipping.

It's just like the rest of your electronics, IT DOESN"T WORK.You won't do anything about it and I will never buy electronics of any kind from you!
No bass after a few weeks
January 10, 2016
It worked fine until after about 4 months of little use where the woofer power decreased to almost nothing, e.g. you can barely hear the bass. I saw the same thing happen to another unit at my friends (he returned it and I will after this comment). So this does not seem to be a a one off issue by rather a design issue. So my advice is stay away from it.
A soundbar for sadomasochists
October 15, 2015
I bought these for my Samsung TV, thinking they'd integrate smoothly. The nicest thing I can say about them is that they produce sound. To use these with a Samsung TV you will be relegated to the hell of fumbling with both the TV remote and the soundbar remote every time you turn on your TV. You will either opt for optical-cable connection, where you need to then mute your TV, and control your TV using your TV remote, then control the volume with your soundbar remote; Or you will opt for SoundConnect, but reach for the soundbar remote to turn on the soundbar every time you want to watch TV.I ended up calling Samsung customer support 5 times before they told me that I need to use an HDMI cable to connect my TV to my soundbar, but this soundbar does not accept a HDMI cable. Genius. The closest model that may work sensibly, with a simple "Power on the tv. Adjust the tv volume" mode might be the HW-J650. The usability issue here has been known since at least 2012, but even tho it is now nearly 2016, Samsung has not fixed it. I don't understand how this 2015 model soundbar integrates so poorly with a Samsung TV.

I got this because I recently got a Samsung Smart TV and I thought it would work seamlessly with it. No such luck! I called Samsung and was on the phone with them over an hour. Finally they told me I had a defective unit & wanted me to send it in for repair. Since I bought it new I just returned it for a replacement. Amazon was fantastic about the whole exchange process. The 2nd Samsung soundbar didn't work any better than the 1st, so I returned it for a refund. Again Amazon was great. Don't buy this product it's not worth the hassle!
