Five Star Reviews: | 50% I recommend this for any homeowner great tool September 27, 2017 It's got the necessary power to do what you needed to do. It by no means is a commercial machine but it does work for small jobs. Love the personal customer service March 2, 2017 Had a problem with the first one I purchased, and Troy-Bilt immediately sent out another. Love the personal customer service. Still working perfectly. Like the fact that no oil mix is necessary. 4 cycle troy built leave blower February 2, 2016 used it twice since I received it as a gift once for 1 inch of snow and once to blow out my 4 bay garage I have read the reviews on this and so far have had no trouble at all my generator sits along side my house and the gap between the storage box the genny is in leaves gather and used this to blow out the leaves. will do another review after spring clean up Great product! December 4, 2015 I take pride in knowing how to work and maintain engines. This runs like a champ. Starts on the second pull every time. I use it to clean the yard, garage and was a big help when we put a new roof on the house this spring. I would buy this again, no worries! Gret product August 28, 2015 Great prodcut for an attractive price. This Backpack Blower with JumpStart Technology works very well and with the JumpStart, it is very easy to start - no more pulling that cord to get the engine started! | 20% Good item for a very big yard! September 28, 2017 Good trimmer. Just give it a longer warm up period on # 2 choke setting (about 3 min). The instructions recommend 1 minute but will stall out if you try to use it before it's all warmed up. Love the fact no mixing oil with the gas. That 2 cycle oil would always gum up my old weed trimmers which required rebuilding them once a season to keep them running. The old attachments from my other weed trimmers (other brands) fit this new one, like the chain saw attachment, weed trimmer heads, brush cutter, edger, hedge trimmer and rototiller. Multi-tool September 7, 2017 I'm really pleased with this multi-tool. I read on reviews before buying it. That it was hard to start the first time. But if you follow the start instructions posted on the trimmer it's a piece of cake. I like the fact that I can use other universal attachments, weed eater heads, Roto tiller, pole saw etc.... . And only have to have one gas can for trimmer and mower. Just read the warnings and be sure not to use E-85 flex fuel. It caused my old trimmer to break piston rod and die. Best trimmer I have ever owned April 1, 2017 Best trimmer I have ever owned, the only and I really mean the only is it gets hot right were my right arm is against it, not anybody's fault, but it gets hot | 39% Following the instructions September 15, 2017 It took awhile to learn how it works. Once there it works great Very satisfied so far August 15, 2017 Very satisfied so far. Still getting used to it so can say for now it's better than I expected! Very well built and was easy to assemble. | 86% There are no reviews yet | 71% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 13% Nice 4 stroke May 5, 2017 Nice back pack blower. Wise it had a little more air speed. Works great with the little easy starter that you pay the extra money for. Good power, not too heavy January 7, 2016 Good power, not too heavy. Hard to get all the straps adjusted but once you are locked in properly it is fine. Reasonably priced. Great for home use. July 9, 2014 This was a great choice for home. It has the power I expected. I don't think it would be good for commercial use. I am totally satisfied with this purchase. Almost forgot to mention, it came in two days. "Troy Bilt" Back Pack Blower October 16, 2013 Received the blower timely and assembly was fairly easy.It started easily and I have used it 4-5 times already.I appreciate the quieter four stroke engine and am very pleased with it's performance. It's not an industrial strength blower but for our property which has numerous Oak and large White Pines (which drop as many needles as the Oaks) this unit is more than adequate. We are hoping for ease of maintenance and longevity. Good blower but could use more power October 29, 2011 Blower works fine but not quite as powerful as I would like - it's fine for light duty and I still would consider it good value. Of all times to carefully read the assembly instructions, I chose to do it on this. The blower has benefited from a couple of improvements since the assembly instructions were printed. This resulted in my spending a little time looking for a torx screwdriver I wouldn't need and attempting to align notches the were no longer on the blower. Other than that, it was easy to start and use. The cruise control is a handy feature. If I had it to do over, I would still buy this unit and could probably have it up and running in about 10 minutes. Good unit, a little underpowered October 17, 2009 This is a good entry-level backpack leaf blower. For $220, it is way cheaper than the $400-$500 commercial units. The blower itself looks to be really good construction. I have a Troy-Bilt 4-cycle weed wacker, and love it. I unpacked the leaf blower, twisted the tubes together, and it started on the first pull. The tubes are a little difficult to twist together, but if you're having a tough time with two particular sections, try switching up the order you install. This seemed to help for me.The operation of blower works well. I have fairly long arms, so the positioning of the trigger is perfect for me, but if you're particularly short, you might find the trigger is a little farther away than you prefer...however, I think this will be the case with any blower.I agree with another reviewer about the governor...I'm a little bit underwhelmed by the power, and it's because the governor is set pretty low. I know these engines have a peak RPM, but I feel that the governor could easily be adjusted to run at least a 50% higher RPM, and it would produce way more air. I wish I knew if these governors were adjustable somehow. I think you'd have to take the carb apart and mess around with the governor springs. If someone knows how to do this, please post! Thanks | 14% Works like a champ September 15, 2017 Works like a champ. I like the fact that I do not have to mix the oil and gas. Starting it is a bit tedious; not like previous Troy-Bilt trimmers I have had. The curved shaft has a bit of a vibration. I use the straight shaft from an older trimmer and the vibration is gone.Overall, I still recommend it. A good first impression, more to follow. June 22, 2017 Just received and unboxed this unit today. Haven't put it to any kind of test yet. I had an old Ryobi that isn't worth tuning any more after a dozen years or more and poor maintenance and mixing of fuel on my part. I got my value out of it and now it can rest. This Troy-Bilt was packaged well and arrived intact. Very easy to quickly assemble the few parts that needed to be attached, like the guard at the end and the handle. It comes with the right quantity of oil to add prior to first use (very helpful or I would be inclined to overfill it). It started right up as per the instructions with no problem.I immediately noticed that this is a good couple of lbs heavier than my old 2-cycle Ryobi and I think I'll be using the shoulder strap for this one. a different balance and feel than the old one due to the difference in weight. The blue plastic choke lever is unnecessarily flimsy and feels like it'll break if forced to move at all. The engine is certainly bigger and bulkier than a 2-cycle, but I already like not having to mix gas and oil AND it's much quieter and smoother sounding than that typical blatty 2-cycle sound! One thing I really like is that the shaft on this is the same as on my old Ryobi. I'm going to keep the Ryobi for extra parts and can hot-swap the lower part so I can keep a string cutter head on one and the brush cutter on the other! Seems overall like a pretty solid machine. I'll add to this after using it a few times. Works great just cold natured March 29, 2016 Works great just cold natured, have to let it warm up 5 minutes with choke on before you can use. It runs fine but takes a bit to get into the sweet ... December 7, 2014 Very handy with the ability to change attachments. It runs fine but takes a bit to get into the sweet spot of power. It will bog down under load if not warmed up or tuned correctly. Otherwise, if you follow the starting instructions, use clean gas, and treat it well, the Troy-Bilt works great. I'd recommend this 4-cycle unit. Troy Bilt July 22, 2014 i bought this to replace my old Troy Bilt. It is the same model as the old one. If you need a weed eater this is the one. I gave it 4 stars because I don' like the curved shaft. Troy Bilt trimmer October 15, 2007 Trying to replace my Ryobi trimmer which decided to quit after about 6 yrs. Never had a problem with the Ryobi and I had all the attachments and didn't want to buy everything over again. The Troy Bilt is the exact same trimmer as the Ryobi. Also wanted to stay with the 4 cycle instead of the mess of gas/oil mix with the 2 cycle. The trimmer is a little heavy, but does seem to be pretty balanced. Starting is very easy. The only recommendation I'd make is the difference between the curved and straight shaft. I'm 6'2" and now have both types. I really notice a difference with the curved shaft--much more bending which my back notices by the time I'm finished with the trimming. Taller people should lean toward the model with the straight shaft. If you have been shopping, this is the exact models that Lowes sells. The price difference is much less on Amazon. Lowes wanted $169 for this model. When I bought on Amazon the price was $83 with free shipping. The price has since increased, but is still much less than Lowes. If you're looking for a trimmer with capability for attachments, I would recommend this trimmer. | 16% Very easy to assemble and operate September 6, 2017 Very easy to assemble and operate. Starts very quickly. I will try a different blade to improve the finished results. good deal / I like that the cutting blade is ... February 12, 2017 good deal / I like that the cutting blade is on the right side / great idea for starting with the optional drill powered unit Easy to start and run July 4, 2016 Easy to start and run. The unit has a strong motor and various adjustments. I do find it hard at times to create a thicker edge. My grass is about 2-3 inches in depth from the sidewalk and although this unit does well from 1-2 inch depths, that last top half inch or so of the does not seem to get cut with this unit. I end up running the unit backwards to make the proper cut, not sure if this is the design or not. I would still suggest this purchase. | 9% There are no reviews yet | 10% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 9% I thought it would be better than what it is. April 5, 2017 My old electric blower had more blowing power. The out put of air is not like it should be.like the motor needs to speed up some more to get more air out put. Good enough for what I do August 12, 2016 Good enough for what I do, but if you have a big yard or lots of leaves then I would recommend a 2 stroke. Easy start and more convenient than carrying around an extension ... June 25, 2015 Easy start and more convenient than carrying around an extension cord for an electric blower. I'm a little disappointed with blowing power. My old electric model seems to be more powerful. good price for a little blower November 28, 2011 A good little blower, the key word is LITTLE. Good if you want to blow a few leaves off the deck, or maybe a 20 ft driveway, but then a broom would be would be faster and easier. It starts and runs fine, light weight easy to handle. If you have a long driveway or a large lawn, it's just too wimpy. Once you get a pile of leaves of any size you'll need a rake. If you're going to get a leaf blower, get a bigger one. It just doesn't have the umpf to do much. | 7% This is a decent weed eater. However it is ... July 4, 2017 This is a decent weed eater. However it is heavy and I have to weed eat a lot of grass. The head doesn't get as close to the ground as my old one. And it shuts off at half a tank of gas and I have to restart it. Although I believe it is built with good quality, the motor has trouble starting and consistently ... July 4, 2016 I am an owner of various Troy-Bilt products and have written favorable reviews for all of them. This unit is a bit different. Although I believe it is built with good quality, the motor has trouble starting and consistently running. I have tried to adjust the choke and ensured the gas was good quality. It takes about 30 minutes of running before it will idle on it's own. It becomes very frustrating, but I am sticking with the unit. I think I may have gotten a lemon here, so buyer just beware. Make sure a return policy is available in case you have the same issue. Need to work on the string head August 9, 2015 Having to buy a new head for it does not make me happy as the self feeding head was junk and did not work at all Troy-bilt trimmer June 29, 2014 I had an older model that was stolen from my lawn shed and I really miss it. This new one is a little harder to start, but the big issue is the head and line. It constantly gets charmed or so etching and all the line goes inside I have to take it apart and rewind it. My old model used individual pieces of line. I liked that. It took less time to put in a new piece of line than this rewinding all the time. Troy-bilt June 5, 2013 It's real hard to get the part off where the string. I have to use a screwdriver to get it off!!! That is not right okay January 5, 2013 it's quiet, but does not have much power. nice not having to mix oil and gas, but just average for a trimmer | 11% it is a fair little unit that just needs a couple of little fix's to make it a Great Little Unit September 4, 2016 It does not seem to have enough RPM"s, I don't think that it edges as well as others because it lags RPM, it is also very hard to steer straight because of the front wheel design which I WILL alter at a later date..... I will also work on it to try and get some more RPM's out of it!! But for the Money!!,,, it is a fair little unit that just needs a couple of little fix's to make it a Great Little Unit!! It would NOT be a good unit for Commercial work.... Would I buy another one????? For the first timers and Price, I defiantly would consider it for sure.. It's a Troy-Bilt Gear Head Jon it is doing a good job, the only problem it is the reverse ... June 28, 2016 it is doing a good job, the only problem it is the reverse of what Iam used to, but it will work. It gets the job done, not as rock solid ... November 25, 2015 It gets the job done, not as rock solid or powerful as my neighbors $400 edger. Price was a major factor for me buying this over others. Two Star Reviews: | 4% I loved this blower until it suddenly died on me November 22, 2012 I've used this blower regularly for 1 year now. Great for fall cleanup and has good strength for slightly damp leaves. Dry leaves are no problem, even in large piles with small branches/twigs in them. I also love the 4 cycle engine. Adding oil to gas is so passe... :DThe blower attachment does come loose after a few rustles in the bushes, but easily fixed with a hose clamp.I've changed the oil regularly, changed the filter religiously and after about 25 hours of use, it has completely died.I'll be taking it to to the local service shop to see if the two year warranty will cover the issue. If I had to do it all over again, I'd buy a 2-cycle unit from a "pro" manufacturer like Skil or Echo. Worked for a year then died September 24, 2011 Machine works great, however after a year it started to smoke and died. Unable to re-start. Oil level etc was checked ok etc. Guess I have to find a fix or a replacement, you get what you pay for. :( Sounds as if it will die at any time. September 6, 2010 It looks nice on the shelf. I fear that was my main attraction. But I didn't have much else to compare it with. It may be blowing as fast as the specifications imply it will blow. It just always sounds to me as if it may be going to stop. I wish it had a stronger sound. It's an uneven sound. I expect a more knowledgeable operator than I, to tell me that it's not getting fuel. Or something like that. I'll likely keep it. Had I HEARD it operate before I purchased it, I would likely have looked further. WAS a very nice unit! August 3, 2010 I have used this unit 5 times now and EVERY time it has started on the first pull. It is not real powerful, but I knew that prior to purchasing it. The blower tubes are a little short (I am 6' 2") and the manufacturer has no lengthening solution for the problem. All in all, I am satisfied.THE ABOVE WAS WHEN I FIRST HAD THE UNIT.That was then, this is now 2 1/2 years later! The unit is extremely hard to start and never reaches full speed and dies after about 45 seconds. I changed the gas, spark plug, cleaned the air filter, spark arrestor and carburator to no avail. if I can get it started it runs at slow speed for 1/2 minute then dies. I tried 3 local places to see how much they charge to diagnose/fix the problem and the don't even answer. No more Troy Bilt for me!To only get 2 seasons from a $240 blower is just too little time to warrant giving TB another chance. | 7% Not reccomended. August 13, 2016 Wow, I've used a lot of weed-eaters and this one is the worst. It is almost impossible to start with the recoil starter. I mean the instructions to start it are about 7 steps and you are supposed to prime it 10 times, then pull it 5 times, then halfway open the choke, then open the throttle and pull it five more times and if that doesn't work start over. Come on, they put a man on the moon with less effort. I would guess you are supposed to buy the optional electric starter. I takes forever to warm up (3~5 mins) and will stall if allowed to idle for more than a few seconds in 85 degree weather. Also, if you are thinking of putting the blade attachment on it the little sticker says NO WAY. The whole reason I bought this was I had many attachments for my defunct Craftsman 4-stroke and wanted to be able to use them. The one positive note is, it is pretty light which is nice considering the flimsy handle that comes with it.But I wish I hadn't thrown away the packing so I could have sent it back. I would not recommend this model for anything other than light string trimming. Two Stars June 11, 2016 Power..yes.Its powerful but poorly designed. Many superior products exist out there. I would not recommend item The spin feeder for the cutting line broke the first ... July 31, 2015 The spin feeder for the cutting line broke the first time I went to use it. Bought a replacement and that one jammed up within 30 mins of use. Disassembled it, pulled out the bruised line, cleaned, reinstalled clean new line, and it jammed again 5 mins later.I’m going to have to change out the line system to a blade system. Not really ideal considering is brand new! Good motor, poor spool design September 2, 2013 I should have read the reviews before I purchased. Spool has never worked right, is a real pain to get off and has now cracked after 3 months of use. The motor starts easily and runs well. the first one that ordered, the shaft sheered September 15, 2011 i finally got to use my new troy built a few days after i received it. i filled it with oil and gas and crancked her up per the instructions and away i went to cut some high grass around a stump when 15 min into cutting it just quit. it felt hot so i let it cooled down about an hour. tried to restart and the pull felt loose. thinking it was a safty feature to let it cool or reset i let it set till the evening and the pull was still loose, i had the husband look at it and the neighbor and both said that the shaft was sheered. i was upset and then horrified that i couldnt return it after putting gas and oil into it. but after contacting amazon, they replaced it fully. and i am greatful for that. | 9% Easy start but bogs down often May 13, 2017 Not very powerful. Easy start but bogs down often. Honestly it edges better when pulled backwards that when pushed. Extremely disappointed in this toro product. The edger starts easily, and the engine runs smooth August 18, 2016 The edger starts easily, and the engine runs smooth, the problem is the blade runs counter-clockwise... Which means in order to get a good edge you have to walk backwards with the thing... BUYER BEWARE EVEN ON AMAZON August 4, 2016 I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS EDGER! EVEN JUST EDGING NORMAL WALKWAYS AND DRIVEWAYS UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, THE ENGINE LABORS AND REQUIRES PASSES OF 3 OR4 TIMES TO GET A "CLEAN CUT". SOMETIMES THIS IS NOT ENOUGH! THE ENGINE IS JUST UNDER POWERED. SEEMS LIKE THE BLADE CAN'T SPIN SUFFICIENTLY FAST AND STRONG TO GET A CLEAN CUT WITHOUT TAKING MANY SMALL BITES OF THE JOB AT A TIME. THE ENGINE RUNS AT A SET MAXIMUM WHEN EDGING AND TENDS TO "PULSE" AND "BOG DOWN" FREQUENTLY. I CAN NOT FIND ANY CARBERATOR ADJUSTMENT AS ON OTHER SMALL ENGINES TO ADJUST IT FOR OPTIMUM OPERATION? ONLY ADJUSTMENT (AT LEAST VISIBLE) IS TO SET THE THROTTLE IDLE. I DO LIKE THE LOOK AND SMALL PROFILE OF THIS EDGER, PRICE AND THE TROY-BILT BRAND, BUT THIS EFFORT APPARANTLY REQUIRED TOO MANY COMPRIMISES TO GET THERE. FOUND OUT AMAZON WILL NOT TAKE RETURNS OF THIS ITEM-WISH THEY WOULD HAVE HIGHLIGHTED THIS FACT ON THE PAGE! BUYER BEWARE! I SHOULD HAVE READ THE POLICY CLOSER! MY BAD! BUT PROBABLY WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE CHANCE ANYWAY SINCE IT WAS ON AMAZON-NEVER KNOW! useless. April 25, 2015 Engine will not maintain rpm..there is no adjustment of the carb other than idle speed..as soon as you attempt to make a cut it bogs down and quits..useless. | 1% There are no reviews yet | 3% There are no reviews yet |

Took it out April of 2017 and barely starts then die's I WOULD LIKE TO GET IT FIXED BUT IT COST AS MUCH TO FIX IT AS TO BYA NEW ONE. EVEN WORSE I PURCHEST A WEED EATER (TROY BUILT) AND IT DID THE SAME THING. NOW IM OUT $385.00. WHAT CAN I DO?????? Lungs can blow better air July 18, 2017 No power for blowing yard debri. Now I have a product that doesn't work, almost $200 loss plus extended 2 year warranty paid for. Don't buy this blower!!!!!!!! June 4, 2017 I brought this in September 2016 used 3 times gas is leaking all over the place . Looked for certificate dealer in my area know one fixes this blower . Now I am stuck with piece of junk blower with warranty that's no good . Worked for one season. It is still under warranty ... November 13, 2016 Worked for one season. It is still under warranty so my husband brought it for servicing. The technician (Troy Bilt authorized) said these machines are junk. They are subject to problems with gas (ethanol problems) and to replace gas line is expensive. It has a two year warranty and the Amazon receipt is all that's required. But this does not deserve even one star. Very expensive mistake. DANGEROUS !!!!! June 15, 2015 Was a Great product. Not the strongest blower I've owned. But For the price it was good. BUT NOT AFTER WARRANTY ! Revised July 7 2016. Leaks gas all over, out of the engine itself! All over my back. DANGEROUS !!!! | 52% I bought this and the clutch rattles. The motor ... May 22, 2017 I bought this and the clutch rattles. The motor will run but the head will not spin. The customer service kept me on hold for thirty minutes and then keeps hanging up on me. POS speed spool the one good thing about this trimmer is that you will not ... June 22, 2016 POS speed spoolthe one good thing about this trimmer is that you will not have to spend any money on gas, since you will be spending your entire time at work fighting with the horrible speed spool it's a epic piece of crap. Troy built was totally unresponsive. Also I will never buy anything of this nature from amazon and am seriously considering canceling my amazon prime account what a rip off. Buy a hand sheers instead! October 12, 2014 Trimmer head keeps shearing off the line after about 5-10 seconds of trimming. You have to take the head apart apart remove the string to restring each time. I would be better off with a hand sheers! Emailed the seller and and they have no ideas. Don't waste your money September 12, 2014 Garbage. Do not waste your money. Heavy, VERY hard to start, difficult to load trimmer line, and once your do get it loaded it does not want to feed. Troy-Bilt used to mean quality equipment. They really dropped the ball with this one. Sad. Piece of crap August 15, 2014 I have to agree with all the negative comments - I used mine twice and its pretty much junk now - when I use the bump feature to let line out the head comes off and all the line wraps around the end so bad I have to cut it off with a saw. I was thinking about getting it fixed but is sounds like I would be throwing good money after bad. two thumbs down :( | 25% Looks like i'll have to return it for one that will December 11, 2016 I cannot get it to start.Looks like i'll have to return it for one that will.Called troybilt they didn't have any answers. Any advice. DONT BUY THIS! June 20, 2016 Don't buy this edger if you are looking for a serious edger. I purchased this because I wanted a 4 cycle gasoline engine and have had good experiences in the past. This unit was fast to put together, and basically unusable -- it chokes out a ridiculous number of times, possibly because of the blade direction. Whatever, Amazon should not have this type of poor item on its website. Very disappointed. | 1% There are no reviews yet | 10% There are no reviews yet |
