Happy with purchase!
Quality product; worth every penny
November 11, 2015
Great fit; quality product! Bought for my trip to Africa and I LOVE them! They are casual and classy looking all at the same time. Very light weight; yet durable. Fit well! I Love the zipper to convert to shorts; zipper is well hidden and is well made.

Very happy with the pants
August 9, 2017
I am very happy with these pants. They fit well. They are comfortable and they definitely dry quickly. I wore them on a trip to Scotland (a rainy place) and to an outdoor concert where we got drenched. The pants were nearly dry by the time my friends had changed into dry clothes and I didn't need to change.

I am tall with a narrow build: 5'10" and 120 pounds. The small fit fine although a bit loose in the waist. And they were long enough!
Absolutely Perfect Pants!
June 2, 2017
I only wish the shorts were a little longer (they open about 2" above the knees). But otherwise, they are absolutely beautiful. Fits nice and comfortable, and mad enough of high quality material.
These will work well for my trip to Alaska
May 14, 2017
These arrived today. I am heading to Alaska next month and I have heard the temperatures vary a great deal, these will be great they fit well, I am 5'6" and 123 lbs . I can layer them with a base layer if needed, or if it gets warm I can unzip the legs and have shorts. These will wear well and be a go to pant during our hiking and when touring.
Comfortable and bottom halfs remove easily over boots.

My first pair of hiking pants. I loved them. They were comfortable. Lightweight. Soft materiel. And the lower half came off over my hiking boots with ease. Very pleased with them and will more than likely purchase more.
Great, easily convertible hiking pants
July 6, 2015
I was highly satisfied with the fit - I ordered a size up. Wore them the first day of our Grand Canyon hike, starting out with the pants in the cool of the morning. By the time we reached 3 Mile Resthouse, it was time to zip off the legs, easily done, with no problems. They were great when we needed to douse ourselves with water in the unusually extreme heat for mid-June when temps were normally 100 degrees. Temp reached 110, felt like 120. The shorts held enougj moisture to cool off. They also dried quickly after rinsing out. I want a pair of shorts to go with these pants. That's all I'd need for another four-day backcountry hike.

but I was glad to have my legs protected by pants with the ...
May 8, 2016
I bought two pair of these pants for a recent trip to Costa Rica and they did well for my trip. I spent a lot of time in the rainforest where it was very hot and humid, but I was glad to have my legs protected by pants with the option for zipping off. I never felt too hot in them despite it being 90 degrees and humid.

I removed one star for the fit. The black pair fit well but the green pair were noticeably larger. I needed to steal a belt from my boyfriend's similar pants to wear with the green pair. These also seem to run a little smaller than other Columbia pants I tried on in stores. I typically wear size 6-8 pants and shorts from several popular brands, but in these I wore a size 10 (could have probably fit in size 8 but definitely not a 6). I typically wear size long pants with a 34" inseam but these size 10 regular fit ok with hiking shoes. They do look much better on the model wearing the black pair than the green pair on this page.

I find the look with the bottom zipped off to be extremely unattractive but when I'm sweating in the rainforest I guess I don't care that much. But I would not have kept these intending to wear them mostly as shorts.
Finally sexy trail pants for curvy bods!
December 1, 2015
Love these pants. I have a curvy body and had to get a size up because my luscious thighs were squeezed uncomfortably by the band in the size 8, but only when I sat down. I have these pants in several colors and would recommend them to anyone with a curvy bod. Great pants overall.

Comfy but a little baggy in the legs
September 12, 2017
Really like these pants! I have a true hourglass figure (small waist, large rear/thighs) so they are super comfy and fit smaller around the waist. I'm only giving 4 stars because they are pretty baggy through the legs and wasn't a super flattering look. But again if you're hiking you may not care about how you look and they are super comfy for miles on the trails. I'm 5'7, 150lbs and the medium work great.
I ended up having to try to roll them up as best I could
September 6, 2017
I got a medium which fit me perfectly around the waist, but the pants were too long. I ended up having to try to roll them up as best I could. I'm 5'6" and 125 lbs, so I was concerned whether the small would be too small. I like them though and mainly wore them as shorts for the rest of our trip. They don't get very dirty easily which is a plus, particularly after I tripped and fell in some mud.
Great fit!
July 6, 2017
Great for hiking, water resistant and doesn't soil easily! They are quite airy too, good for hikes in the middle of hot summers! I'm not sure how durable these are though, I've worn them only twice.

good pants. but if you wear a backpack with waist belt, they may slide down a bit under the waist belt.
fun
June 8, 2017
The only request I'd make of the designers is that they make a version with a higher waist or longer zipper; in other words, mom-jeans style. I'd also like an option for cotton or mostly cotton fabric. These are the first zip-offs I've had, and I have pretty often used that feature, to my delight. They are light, unwrinkable, wash up fine. (I did not dry them in the dryer - why take the risk? - they do not take a long time to dry in air.)

This "women's" fit is so tight that it can be quite uncomfortable on the zipper area.

Too small.
July 22, 2017
I bought these hoping they wouldn't run as small as they did. I probably could have made do with them if they had a bit of Lycra in them to give them a bit of give. Would have turned them, but I waited too long and missed my window.
Not great for curves
April 27, 2017
I'm 5'8, typically an 8-10 in pants. The length was decent but I carry my weight in my hips and thighs and these pants fit too tight across the legs; going up a size would make them too big around the waist. The fabric felt good, nice and lightweight but you can tell they'd hold up well in the rain.
My friend bought the women's version a few years ago and liked them, and I wanted to get something less ...
April 7, 2016
I habitually buy the men's version of these for fieldwork because they are super hard wearing, cheap and practical, but the men's sizes only have options for 'enormous' and 'slightly too small for me'. I thought I'd give the womens pants a try. They have no back pockets! What the hell. And they are just as schlubby as the men's version otherwise, so I really don't get it. WOMEN WANT POCKETS. GAH.
Not for women with thin thighs
March 6, 2016
I am 5'5", 100 lb with measurements 32-25-35. The waist fit alright, but the pant legs were way too big for me even though I'm a skinny pear shape. I expected the fit to be loose, but the extra amount of leg room was ridiculous on me. If you have a thin waist but larger butt and thighs, these pants may fit you well.
How well they fit depends on your body type
August 1, 2014
I've seen several reviews on here there with conflicting size information, but here is what I found. If you are pear-shaped (i.e. full hips and thighs), then you will probably need to go up a size and, even then, you may not be satisfied with the fit. I usually wear a size 8-10, but the medium is quite tight across the seat and thighs, although the waist is fine. I'm still trying to decide if they are worth sending back for a larger size of if I shouldn't just give the pants to my mother (who is skinnier in the hips and thighs than I am) and go with a different brand altogether. These pants are cut more like men's pants and will fit best on someone who is either slim all over or carries their weight more up top. That said, if your body type fits either one of those descriptions, then I imagine the pants should fit true to size.

Not particularly flattering
June 1, 2017
I ordered my usual size, medium, and the waist fit fine. However, I am slender through the hips and thighs and the legs of these pants are way too baggy for my taste.
Too big in the legs/very high waist
May 5, 2017
I ordered my size. Very smug in the high waist and extremely large in the legs. I could have fit both my legs in one pant leg. And I ordered the small! Will be returning.
The legs are cut so wide it looks like a skirt
February 6, 2017
The legs are cut so wide it looks like a skirt. They are very unflattering. Don't buy them. I thought I was getting a bargain, but I would have been better off paying more because I'll never wear these.
Not comfy
August 16, 2016
So after trying on the same type of pants at my local Big 5's limited selection I decided I had to purchase online . I got the xl since all the ones at the store that were large would have been snug with layers on . These were so large I couldn't wear them , they would start to slip down . Plus when I did put them on at camp I noticed the inner thigh part where the shorts ended and pants began tried to ride up a lot . Also they are very loud when you walk . I call it "the castanza" from Georges noisy suit on Seinfeld , same problem .
Inconsistent Sizing
February 25, 2016
I decided to take a chance on these despite the reviews. I initially purchased a 2X based on reviews that these pants ran small. When they arrived the were so large that I could slide them off with the waist buttoned. I returned them for a 1X in the same color and when they arrived they were so tight that I couldn't even button them! They were super tight in the upper thigh as well.

I'm super bummed. I loved the color and the material seemed nice. Oh well, back to the drawing board I guess...

NOT for Hikers
August 16, 2017
If you are truly a hiker, these are NOT for you! I ordered up in size after reading many of the reviews and after receiving and trying on the pants they seemed to fit. However, once I began to move in them they would twist and bunch. They were amazingly uncomfortable to the point that all I kept thinking was, "I've got to get out of these pants!"
Terrible fit.
February 13, 2017
These pants have very wide legs and NO room in the hips or butt. It's as if they are made for men. Awful fit for women.
Stone color does not match picture
January 25, 2017
Ordered "Stone" color expecting and needing the grey shade that is presented in the picture. However, the actual color is closer to sand or beige. Must return
Pants length is not as described
March 14, 2016
While these pants are described as having a 31" inseam, they do not. The inseam is 29" and therefore I had to return them as they were not long enough.
WAY TOO SMALL
March 2, 2016
I wear an 18/20 or 2X. Ordered a 2X, and they fit like an XL. Could not pull them up. Returning.
