Great for keto
October 12, 2016
This stuff gets me though the day sometimes. I do keto (less than 20 carbs/day) and some days I'll start to just feel terrible: lethargic, grumpy, crampy. I pop one of these and feel totally fine in 20 minutes.

Gives me all the benefits of gatorade without all of the added sugars.

by taking these electrolytes, I'm don't wake up often being thirsty at night.
"Essentail" for sports in our house.
September 18, 2015
My sons take these before activity/sports (football, skateboarding, running) rather than the garbage/chemically laden electrolyte drinks on the market. This definitely helps with stamina and my son won't go to football practice without taking one first. Highly recommended.
much better than all those sugary energy drinks

Really gets your body back in balance after an active, hot day or a night of drinking too much vino!
Much, much better than all those sugary energy drinks!!
Life changing for those who have cramps while playing sports
September 15, 2017
Hate to be one of those guys, but, in all honesty, this was a life changing product.
In my mid 30's, playing full court basketball meant hydrating and carbing up, stretching, warming up properly, etc.
The chance of cramps were about 25% on any given day and it was frustrating.
Since using Saltsticks, I have not had a single cramp in over a year. Honestly I cant believe it worked so well.
Not just for athletes
August 11, 2017
Wish I discovered these 10 years ago. I am an avid hiker and was getting cramps after long hikes. Also felt very fatigued day after a hike. Thought I was getting old. Nope. These are a game changer. Pills are large. I empty 4-5 into a very small zip lock and take them on the trail. Don't want to choke 10 miles from help. Taste not great, but totally doable if you can't take large pills. One of the best investments I have made in a very long time.
Work great & capsules are easy to take
July 28, 2017
Why are salt tablets usually uncoated and difficult to swallow? SaltStick raised the bar by offering capsules that are actually easy to take. These work great. The only downside is the cost. The hard-to-swallow salt tablets are usually much cheaper, which is a factor for people who need these for medical conditions. They are worth the money, though.
No more headaches!! Life changer!!
August 17, 2016
I do not want this to sound overly dramatic but I'm sure it will. This product has changed my life. I used to get terrible, debilitating headaches anywhere around 2 to 4 hours after my runs. I tried everything from hydrating really well including the day before, right before my runs, during my runs and after. I drank water, sports drinks with electrolytes but nothing seemed to work. The headaches were inevitable and I dreaded them to the point where I would skip runs. I fueled properly with food, got plenty of sleep but this too did not help. So what would happen is I would have to take ibuprofen before the headache started or else it would get out of control and honestly ruin the rest of my day. I decided to try something else and this was SaltStick Capsules. I took 1 capsule about 30 minutes before I started out and hoped for the best. I ended up getting a headache although it was a bit less severe. Next time I took 1 capsule 30 minutes before, 1 about 45 minutes into my run. I felt a headache coming on later that day but this one obviously less severe so I took 1 more capsule. Headache did not continue. I did not want to post this review until I was sure it was due to SaltStick Caps that were preventing my headaches and I can confirm after a few weeks of headache free runs I have found the key. My formula now, depending on level of effort, humidity and length of run is to take 1 capsule before, 1 during and 1 within 30 minutes of completing a run. As a plus, I also get less muscle soreness and fatigue. If you suffer from headaches as I did please do yourself a favor and try SaltStick Capsules. I do not know how these compare to other electrolyte replacement capsules but I personally do not need to try any other product. Perfect product for me.
Great for Mountain Trekking!
July 12, 2013
I went on a seven day very, very primitive hike with nomadic Berber tribesmen in Morocco in very high altitudes. The climate was very dry and hot during the day. I came from sea-level humid area. We climbed mountains between 9-10 hours a day. We didn't have normal water supply for a long trek, (we had to fill up in morning with our only potable water and that was it until the next morning.). I have to also admit I wasn't in optimal shape for this trek. I suffered traveler's "fits" after the first day of the hike. I was nutrient leached! I started taking this cap on the start of the second day and they were a god-send! My cramps disappeared and didn't suffer altitude sickness after a day of a nearly 10,000 foot climb at a rapid pace! I passed these caps to my traveling companions and they all agreed these helped greatly. I ordered a bottle for my tour in two weeks of the Galapagos where we will have a volcano climb and high altitudes. I suspect I'll be handing more caps out again!

I take 3 after or mid workout to prevent cramping after a big lift and they seem to help cramping but not completely prevent it I still cramp sometimes.

Good price for a complete electrolyte.
Do the job. No soreness

Just did a twelve mile, 2,000 foot hike. Took one pill before and one during. Could have kept walking for many more miles. They are big and effective. Lighter than Gatorade.
Good product. I bought because of recommendation by Anthony Pantalleresco.

Good product. I bought because of recommendation by Anthony Pantalleresco. See his YouTubeVideos for a huge number of DIY nutrients. Some of his formulas may deplete and this was one of his choices to restore balance. He's an herbalist and a good resource. Just search for his name.
I think he has over 100 different DIY videos on YouTube to provide people inexpensive, effective DIY formulas to improve or protect your health. He gives fun presentations too.

I have tried these a few times so far during 10+ mile runs. I have taken before I started my run, then 45 min in and then another 45 min in. I can't say there is a correlation but I tend to have headaches after I run especially as it is getting warmer. Both runs were in warm weather and no headache afterwards. I also noticed that I didn't have that salty grime accumulate on my face. I will continue taking them throughout the summer.

I got these to try out after I was having major cramping issues during the longer 15+ mile runs. They have helped reduce my leg cramps significantly. Keep them dry though or they'll stick to each other in one big blob in the bottle.

These are great for heavy workouts and hot summer days when I sweat excessively; prevents dizziness and lethargy. I prefer using these with plain water over flavored tablets or drinks.
Better than Mag and K.
June 12, 2015
These seem to work pretty good. I am a salty sweater and tend to sweat a lot leading to cramps after a couple of hours of intense work. If you don't usually cramp them I am not to sure how well these will work for you. I use to use magnesium and potassium supplements to fight the cramping but they did little. These seem to work much better though I did cramp a little after 55 miles of road biking in 70 degree weather at a pretty intense level. So I gave them four stars instead of 5.

Didn't notice a difference over drinking Gatorade.
September 4, 2017
I did not notice a difference taking these vs. drinking a Gatorade. Not sure if they truly work. My legs/body did not feel "Like New" after taking these. I will try them again next year during cycling season. Maybe I did not follow instructions well enough!?!?
Like drinking Gatorade without the bloat or extra calories

I was surprised to have an issue with these.
Five stars from my husband. 3 from me. I'm sensitive to
vit D and can't take many of these in consecutive days. I still do recommend them to other people I know who need to supplement their electrolytes.
I tried this as recommended by my DR
June 20, 2016
I tried this as recommended by my DR. I previously used salttabs with better results - less stomach upset at as well with salt tabs as opposed to the sticks. Perhaps the coating was not for me. Price is fair!
Not for me
November 14, 2015
Doesn't seem to help with leg cramps but then nothing I've tried in the last 40 years has worked either. Guess anything is worth a try. This still may good for people who sweet allot in hot weather. Might work for some who have leg cramps but it was not for me. If I worked in the hot sun all day and sweat allot I'd probably continue to buy them to replace the salt and electrolytes lost from sweating.

Capsules break too easily.
August 31, 2015
The caps did not hold up that well. They were some busted in the bottle when I opened it. I separated them into bags for long training runs and a few busted in those as well. Affectiveness of the product was all right, but it isn't good when you need to pour powder in your mouth from a bag...
December 10, 2009
Not enough for me. Takes 5 or more to not even equal a quarter teaspoon of Mortons salt balance. Ascorbic acid, salt, potassium gluconate, calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, zinc sulfate, chromium nicotinate, magnesium stearate. All really cheap ingredients. Why these pills cost so much and are so specially available is a mystery when so many people I've talked to get muscle cramps from lack of electrolytes. Why so little info is readily available about which chemicals make up a good electrolyte balance is a mystery.
August 30, 2017
I got these to help with swelling during long hikes. I think it work a little. My hands didn't get as swollen; however by the end of my hike, I had terrible diarrhea. I've never had diarrhea after a hike. I took 1 pill every hour or so. Thankfully the diarrhea only lasted overnight and didn't start until I was safely home and near a restroom.
August 30, 2017
I've been using these a few times a year for several years. They are better labeled as horse pills. I'm fed up with choking on them and most of the jar is going in the garbage. Unless the tree squirrels want them. My use was mountain biking and at 9,000 feet elevation on the Tahoe Rim Trail last Monday I was struggling to get one down and wondering why I still try to use these. Sucking water from a hydration pack doesn't give the volume you need to swallow them.
"Here little squirrel, over here, try one of these..." :-)

I'm a bit confused about the reviews I've read about the saltstick caps; Since I started using them I have had severe dehydration issues whereas I was having no problems before taking them. I cannot be the only person experiencing this negative side effect? Can you explain why taking 1 tablet in the morning would cause me dry mouth, dizziness, and headache?

October 16, 2014
I am not so sure about all the positive reviews out here. I tried this for almost a year now. Initially I might have had little success but in the longer run I think this capsule does not affect at all. I play a lot of tennis with lots of running. So I kind of know when I am about to cramp. I took this capsule every 30 min. I have found that even with or without the medicine, I cramp almost at the same time.
I am not sure if my body lacks calcium and I am more prone to cramping. But I am definitely not buying it again.
