Side by Side Comparison of: Family Care vs Purely Northwest vs Fungal Soap vs Miconazole

I was experiencing lots of dryness on both my feet, so dry it would itch a little at times..
I began using this product and I have noticed a 98% healing on one tube; since I bought a 3 pack, I guess no worries!

This product can also be used with excellent results on almost all types of skin irritations. DO NOT TRY it near the eyes though.
A shirt gave me a little under arm irritation and this product was a true miracle.

Considering its cost in compare with similar products, I recommend it highly.

This stuff worked for my tinea outbreak as long as I applied it regularly and controlled my sweating (I used a tea tree body powder for feet to keep dry). The price is very low compared to other types of creams for fungus, which is great.

The smell is pretty medicinal, and it will get your clothes a little white. I have had success using this with powders and selsun shampoo washes. Just try to keep dry and cool and patient.

*Editing now that I have a fully fleshed out set of products to clear up athlete's foot.*I have three boys who are all active in sports and the two in middle school also are required to use the locker room which is just a breeding ground for athletes feet. The clotrimazole works well in conjunction with good washing and drying habits. We've also added a few more products to our arsenal in the war on Athlete's Foot.The biggest hurdle is just getting the boys to remember to use it until their feet are completely fungus free! I was very thankful to find so many tubs of this together as we use this for our daughters diaper rash. Yes that is right I said diaper rash. A combination of Neosporin and Clotrimazole antifungal medicine works absolutely amazing for a nasty case of diaper rash. Very thankful our DR recommended this as it works ten times than any prescription. I cannot rate it based off of anything else as this is all we have used it for, but please share with any desperate momma you know because this truly works miracles on our sweet princess' booty. In less than 12 hours you will see an amazing difference and it only takes a small amount!

I had been trying everything to get rid of the tinea versicolor rash that covered large areas of my torso. Went to the doctors multiple times over the years. Usually was given an oral anti fungal, seemed to always be a temporary fix. Rash would come back within a couple weeks or a month at most. Tried many different lotions as well and none of them helped in any way. Decided to give Clotrimazole a try, it worked very well. Rash was gone within a week and hasn't returned in over two months.

My older son has been using it for a while now and recommended we get some for our youngest son as well. It smells nice. He’s been using it regularly since it arrived. He has mentioned his feet and jock itch are feeling much better. We will continue to purchase more because we all know playing football they are always at risk for fungal infections.

I have tinea versicolor and have tried every over the counter thing recommended by the internet, different types of athletes foot medication, dandruff shampoo, to little avail. The spots are still there. But after using this product the spots immediately faded after one use and when I use it daily they don't show themselves at all. When I feel them coming on after a hot day I use it and feel better immediately. There is a bit of a scent to it that isn't necessarily bad, just a little strong.

I know it looks scary but let me explain...

Pitted keratolysis is a descriptive title for a skin condition affecting the soles of the feet.
It affects those who sweat profusely (hyperhidrosis) especially if they wear occlusive shoes or boots for long periods.
The result is very smelly feet, due to infection of the soles. Either the forefoot or the heel or both become white with clusters of punched-out pits. The appearance is more dramatic when the feet are wet. Very rarely, the fingers are similarly affected. There is a variant of pitted keratolysis where there are more diffuse red areas on the soles.

I have tried different things to take away the smell that this would give my feet and even tried buying products from Mexico and some worked but only for the day and it would only take away the smell. But this product here is actually curing my feet.

The first two pictures are from the day I received the product and before starting to wash them. The next two pictures are a week after using the product and wow I'm so amazed. After the first day my feet stopped smelling. My feet aren't completely cured yet but for a week this is some really good stuff here!

I only washed my feet with this once a day as I'm always busy and running errands or at school or working. I used this as if it was like soap and would simply scrub my feet with this product and a sponge. If your feet smell please check the bottom of your soles and make sure you don't have this. It is really embarrassing having to hide my feet all the time, but not anymore thanks to this soap. Thank you guys, I am forever grateful!

This. Stuff. Is. Amazing.
I've struggled with toenail fungus and athlete's foot for years due to an injury and then working in an environment where my shoes were always getting wet. My doctor at the time told me it was a vitamin deficiency, and by the time I realized she was wrong, it was too late and all 5 toenails were infected. I tried EVERYTHING you can get OTC, and probably spent hundreds on all sorts of potions and lotions and topical treatments. I found a new Dr, who prescribed medication to try and kill it. Nothing worked. The past two years, I've hid my foot 24/7. I used to wear flipflops year round, and it was so frustrating and embarrassing.
I saw this online one day by chance. It had decent reviews, and cost half of what I'd usually drop on the newest cure at the drugstore, so I decided to give it a try.
Within a week, my feet were noticeably smoother, the dead skin was coming off, but they were no longer cracking, itching, and painful. Now, about a month later, the skin on the affected foot looks just as clear as the healthy one. Two toenails look perfectly healthy, they were the least infected to start off with. The other three are noticably stronger, no longer cracking, and all three have clean pink nail coming in.
After a week or so of only using this on my feet, I decided to try it as an all over body wash, and now I'm hooked! I used to have to reapply deodorant throughout the day, now I could really go without it if I wanted. Also (TMI) but for the ladies, I haven't had a single yeast infection since using this stuff. And it makes my skin feel SO fresh and clean, without drying it one bit. Even the most "moisturizing" body washes used to dry my skin! For me, at least, this product is a miracle.
And for those that say it didn't work, I would bet they used one bottle, and were mad that a month's worth of treatment didn't clear an infection that had spread over YEARS. The thing that sucks about toenail fungus is, regardless of what treatment you use, it usually takes months, maybe even a year, of constant use and attention to get rid of it. Look up costly laser treatments, or antifungal pills, or anything else. None of them are quick fixes, and they usually either cost a fortune, involve removing your toenails, or damage your liver.
And just fyi, I'm not at all affiliated with this company. I wish I was, so I could get this stuff more often! After telling the customer service rep about my experience (they contact you once they see you've received it to make sure you're satisfied ), she asked me to post my story on here, and I promised I would.
Also, the customer service in general is amazing. I wish every company was like this one. They respond immediately, and keep in contact to make sure you're fully satisfied. So really, evenif you're not up to the commitment required to cure a fungal infection, you still have nothing to lose by trying it.

After reading all the reviews, I have decided to try this Antifungal Wash on my Athletes foot. I’ve posted pictures of the bottom of my left and right foot. My feet burn, itch and are peeling all over the bottom. I plan on using this wash twice daily. I will update my photos in 10 days so everyone can see a comparison. I’ve already tried Lotrimin ultra with no success so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this stuff works. Sorry the left foot is a little blurry I took these myself and the lighting was not the best. Wish me luck!

**UPDATE** 2/5/14 The two photos on the right are my updated left and right foot pics. It has been 12 days and I could not be happier with my results. I washed my feet twice daily with the Antifungal wash and started noticing improvement within a couple of days. My left foot was the worst and you can see in my updated picture that there has been a huge improvement.

I applied the Antifungal wash with a small nail brush which gave a nice lather and really helped scrub the toenails and nasty funk off the bottom of my feet. This product has done the job and I will continue to use it as part of my daily foot regiment in the shower.

A good transaction. No problems

This is the only soap I have found that works and doesn't smell bad. It's very gentle on my skin as well. It lathers very nice and within 3 days there was no sign of skin fungus. It is so gentle I can use it every day.

I live in Florida, which means I sweat profusely everyday- everyday, and the sweat stays in my clothes all day. I hate it here and it ravages my skin so that I break out in a plethora of red itchy spots that look like ring worm; try explaining that to your new date. This soap, if used daily, helps keep my skin clear.

Before I received this product, my entire lower back was covered with TV, splotches on my upper back, a few areas on my shoulder, tiny marks on my stomach and a couple areas on my chest. (IMO a severe case of Tinea Versicolor. How do I know its TV? This is the second time I've gotten it, the first time I had visited a doctor who gave me a pill to take.)Got this product last week in the mail, used it for a week and now all areas have cleared up. All thats left is a transparent outline of where the TV once stood!! Wished I took a before & after photos from just a week but was a little hesitant that it would be so effective because other products weren't as successful.My routine application for this soap is twice a day. I would thoroughly lather the soap on my skin until its all foamy. Then I would let the soap for a few minutes (1-2 minutes) and then scrub the afflicted areas with a towel. I would then rinse and then get out. I would do this once in the morning and then another time before bed. So far, in a week I have used up a 1/3 of the soap.Some things to take in account. I'm very active, I sweat a lot from physical activity daily. And I also have healthy eating habits. Not sure if these also affected my results but something to take into account.Highly recommend to try this out if you have TV and a few bucks to give. All you have to do is just replace your soap with this one and it makes easy to use because you're just swapping soaps. I'm going to keep using the soap for another week, possibly ordering another soap to use, just to make sure the TV is gone for good.

There are many different kinds of fungi and there is no one product that kills all of them. Any statements about "this product worked for me" are almost worthless. What works for my fungus may not work for your fungus. This is not a reflection on the quality of the product. It is only a reflection of the fact that you and I have different types of fungus. The best that I can do is to tell you about some different things to try for your particular fungus. 1% Clotrimazole is a good place to start. If that does not work, then try a stronger anti-fungal (2% Clotrimazole) or try a different type of anti-fungal.

Creams and Gels
- You can buy 1% Tolnaftate cream here: Tinactin or Family Care Tolnaftate Cream.
- You can buy 1% Clotrimazole cream here: Family Care Clotrimazole Anti Fungal Cream, 1%.
- You can buy 2% Clotrimazole cream here: Clotrimazole 3-Day Vaginal Cream.
- You can buy 1% Terbinafine (Lamisil) cream here: Equate Athlete's Foot Terbinafine HCl.
- You can buy 1% Terbinafine (Lamisil) gel here: Lamisil Once. Supposedly it forms an invisible film that "allows the active ingredient to continuously fight the fungal infection over an extended period of days".
- You can buy 2% Miconazole Nitrate cream here: Monistat 7 Vaginal Antifungal Cream or you can look for generic Miconazole Nitrate.
- You can buy 4% Miconazole Nitrate cream here: Monistat 3 Vaginal Antifungal Cream.
- You can buy 6.5% Tioconazole cream here: Monistat 1 Vaginal Antifungal Cream.
- You need a prescription for things like: 2% Ketoconazole and 0.8% Terconazole. If the above products do not clear your problem up right away, you should go see your doctor. There are more effective (broader spectrum) anti-fungal creams. Your problem may not even be a fungal one.

Powders -- Powder helps to keep the area dry. Fungus grows in warm, moist areas. Do not put powder on areas that are supposed to be warm and moist.
- You can buy 1% Tolnaftate powder here: Tinactin Antifungal Powder.
- You can buy 2% Miconazole Nitrate powder here: Zeasorb, Desenex, or Lotrimin Antifungal Powder or you can look for a generic Miconazole powder.

Sprays
- You can buy 1% Ketoconazole spray here: Ketohex Spray. Note that this is FOR PETS. Use it on humans at your own risk. This also contains 2% Chlorhexidine which is an anti-bacterial. I find that this product is easy to apply in areas where creams and powders are particularly difficult to apply. It also seems to be pretty effective.

Soaps and Shampoos
- You can buy 1% Ketoconazole shampoo here: Nizoral AntiDandruff Shampoo. The problem is that you wash it off right after you put it on. Supposedly it adheres to hair and is more effective on hairy areas.

Tea Tree Oil
- You can buy various liquids, creams, soaps, and shampoos with Tea Tree Oil (a natural anti-fungal). The ones that I have tried have been somewhat harsh on the skin -- drying and irritating.

Pills and Capsules
- You need a prescription for things like: Terbinafine, Itraconazole, or Fluconazole capsules. If topical treatments are not working, you may need a systemic medication. Long before you get to this point, you should be talking to your doctor. This is only mentioned here so that you can ask your doctor about it if he/she has not already mentioned the possibility of a systemic.
- Often topical anti-fungals do not work on problems with the fingernails and/or toenails. The fungus is too deep for a topical anti-fungal to get at it. An oral antifungal like Terbinafine (Lamisil), Itraconazole (Sporanox), or Fluconazole (Diflucan) can often take care of the problem. Itraxonazole worked for me. Take a pill once a month for 3 months and all of your nails start clearing up. It may take many months for a new healthy nail to grow in place. All of these require a prescription. Talk to your doctor.

Suggestions
- Go see your doctor. I am not a doctor, and I am not offering you any medical advice.
- Read the warning label and follow the instructions on the box.
- Wikipedia has pretty good information on the various anti-fungal medications (Clotrimazole, Miconazole, Terbinafine, etc.). Read about it before you use it.
- 2% cream is 2% cream. If you are a jock and you are embarrassed about using a "vaginal cream", put a piece of black tape over the word "vaginal".
- Keep applying the medication after the problem appears to have gone away, as stated in the directions. Otherwise, it will likely come back.
- Talk to your doctor about a maintenance plan to keep any new infections away.
- There are many types of fungi. There is not one anti-fungal product that kills all fungi. In general, prescription products kill a broader range of fungi than OTC products.
- Look for a cheaper generic product. 1% Clotrimazole is 1% Clotrimazole.

Got this for my dad. Once in a while he gets fungal infections on his upper arms and back and he said this product helos in healing them fast. They dont smell nor sting and he only needs a very small amount to cover the affected area so this will last him a long time. Price is a good deal too.

I'm currently using this to fight a tinea versicolor rash that I have had for a while. I tried a different anti fungal product that did NOTHING. I am finally starting to see improvement and my skin is returning to a normal color.

Please be aware that you need to make lifestyle changes while using this product. If you work out a lot, get out of those sweaty clothes and wash with an antimicrobial soap ASAP. Don't sit in sweaty gym clothes excessively. If you're someone who sweats excessively, you might want to consult a doctor.

Great price for this much quantity, and delivered. Formulation seems to work on a par with Lotrimin, though I've only used it once, so far. Washes off hands easily, like Lotrimin. My burnin' nads thank you.

I've been using this product for about 9 months now and it's only amazing if you use it 3 times a day, change out your socks often and interchange between 2-3 different pairs of shoes.I've had severe fungus on my toenails for almost 24 years already. It's something I'm not proud of especially during the summer months when I want to wear slippers but I cannot, so I try to hide my nails using merrel hiking sandals. I've gone to those laser treatments at the doctor but all that does is warm-up the nailbed but doesn't do anything to completely erradicate the cause which is fungus that is embedded inside the nail.I've let my nails thicken-up and then had to practically chisel them down to size. During those laser treatments, the doctor would literally use a dremmel to flatten down my thick nails to almost what they would look like but the nerves beneath there are sensitive and you can really feel this once you get to the thin layer of normal nail which brings me to my point.I think in order for this product to be most effective would be to dremmel/flatten-out the thick nail to a thin nail and then let this stuff work in and do its magic otherwise it has a hard time penetrating to the source (unless you use this 3 times a day keeping the nail soft). Trying to chisel away using a nail clipper is difficult and provides uneven working surface. So if you're handy enough, my suggestion is to dremmel the thick nail away with something like the sandpaper grinder tool in the set, go medium rpms, use a vacuum to draw away flying fung-infected nail (you don't want to breat that stuff) and get it down to the thin layer, then let this stuff do its magic.

This seems to be working so far. During the last few years, I've rarely gone more than a couple of months without a recurrence of athlete's foot.
Since buying this, I've made it over 3 months. I'll call it a triumph if I make it 3 more months, but so far so good.

I purchased it for a antifungal soap to see if it with the other Item I purchased to help with my ugly toe nails, It is to soon to determine if it is helping. But I think it is.

I bought this product for my son, he wears tie up leather boots for 12 hours everyday and his feet sweat really bad that causes foot odor.
We got a boot dryer and he uses this product everyday with a foot scrubber and what a difference his feet are less itchy and don't smell any more.

I can't really attest to how it works for fungus because it turned out that I had psoriasis, but this soap did help a bit with the itching right after I used it and I really liked the smell.

I tried two consecutive tubes of the leading antifungal over a three week period and my Athlete's foot stopped itching, scaling, and flaking. That said, the discoloration remainded and the last little extra healing needed to totally get rid of my AF remained elusive. One week of soaking my feet in warm water with this product and a new pumice stone has done the trick. I'm totally AF free for the first time in in a decade. Needless to say, I'd buy this product again.

This soap works well for fungal infections on skin. Cleared up within several days. Soap has a sulfur odor.

Making a difference so far. You just have to have the extra time to allow it to soak in, if you're in a hurry just wait to use it correctly.

I have been using this for a week twice a day and seems to be working.I will update soon as the hot weather gets here as that is when the tv bothers me with itching and ugly spots.

Okay product. It worked well after 2 weeks of daily use but didn't work on many other family rashes! Although silvercell, some Chinese ointment works wonders in little time. Bacteria won't grown orblivd in Manuka honey

Have not noticed much difference, though I am unsure if my actual issue was jock itch or dry skin. I did notice that it seems to make it itchier when first put on due to it adding moisture to the area.

I purchased this at a regular price with no discount and unfortunately it did not work for me. Been using for more than a month but nothing happens. The only thing that works to clear up my neck was the prescription I got from my doctor. The product did not cause any irritation though so it's good.

The price is great. My thought when I saw these in the Amazon store was, "Wow! This is less than the price of one tube of name brand stuff in the stores!" Well the reason for that is that this medication is the 4-week kind. Tinactin and Lotrimin allow for 2 weeks of use if used twice a day to treat athlete's foot. This medication needs to be used twice a day for 4 weeks, so you basically need at least 2 tubes of the three to treat the basic condition. The extra tube is nice to have on hand. If you're OK with double the treatment course, this can't be beat. The expiration for the tubes I received was in October of 2017, so plenty of potency time.

I wish it had worked for me, I really do. After 4 weeks of treatment, it finally seemed to cure my jock itch, which would return the next month. I've bought 3 more bottles and end up using all three for a month. It takes a long time to work, and then it just comes back later. I've had jock itch on and off for years, and it's probably time I bite the bullet and head to the doctor, because nothing seems to work.

Works well, but is expensive compared to products that were similar.

I've been using this for a few weeks now and so far, it's ok. I do not love the smell of Tea Tree oil, but I already knew that, and I'm fine with it. I am just not sure if it actually helps treating anything - so far it seems pretty much like any other soap. Not good, not bad, just soap.

I do like this soap however it's not a cost effective for a daily and regular use. It's is definitely effective for a skin issues one may have as it provides nice cooling and calming effect, reduces itchiness, and it's not irritating. However downside is that there is no foam and I felt like I have to use a lot of product to get the clean feeling afterwards. I used up the entire bottle in a week.
I recommend if you need to treat a small area for a period of time, but for a daily use there are bar soaps equally good and more cost effective.

I've been having a persistent fungal problem in a personal area. Used as directed, topical creams would knock the infection out and clear up smells and itchiness, but symptoms would return in a few weeks. While this soap did not clear up the infection completely, it made it easier to control. It is important that it be used with a washcloth or similar, as the scrubbing action is needed for the soap to work. This isn't a miracle product, and people should approach using it as skeptically as any other "home remedy" style product, but I did find it helpful in controlling what seems to be a chronic problem.

I bought this based on the high reviews, but ended up returning it after a couple of uses. I have no doubt that the satisfied users were happy, but my skin had an adverse reaction to this soap -- it severely irritated the skin on top of my feet, resulting in red dots that lasted a few days. So I highly recommend that future users perhaps try this on a small area of skin first.

It smells like Tea Tree oil, which is to be expected, but it doesn't lather well. Because of that, I feel like I need to use a lot. I do feel very clean and get a "chill" on my skin after showering. It is also very drying so I have to lotion down good, especially my legs and feet. I bought this product because ringworm was going around my family. My husband and 3 kids are taking Jujitsu and we thought that they were bringing it home with them. I honestly don't think that it's a cure but I believe that it can prevent after you exercise or do contact sports. Hope this helps!

Didn't help my tinea versicolor but I know products are kind of hit and miss since everyone's skin is different. I noticed it did help reduce armpit odor but the sulfur smell was so strong that I used it for about a week and then tossed it out. Definitely like the liquid soap with tea tree better.

Has lanolin, so if you're allergic or sensitive, beware.

Works some

I had used this to wash body folds that developed itchiness and some minor bumps. This seemed to work at first. Bumps disappeared and itchiness went away. Now, several weeks later, it seems to have no effect. Itchiness & bumps are back. Oh well. I'll continue using it and see if it helps.

Seriously...when my husband uses it and sweats at work, his clothes reek of sulfur and it doesn't come out in the wash...

Ok but too expensive, 3 dollars is more reasonable. Don't know if this actually helps since I use an anti fungal cream in combination with soap. The soap stinks really bad. My entire bathroom smells like sulfur.

I used buckets of this but it didn't work at all. Switched to Terbinafine Hydrochloride which cleared things up right away.

Nice smell but that's about it , don't waste your money on this product ,there are other natural stuffs out there that works better !

I bought this for my toe nail fungus and had high hopes for it based on the reviews. It didn't help me at all. I liked how it smelled though and used it anyway to soak my feet in.

Used for over a month, no change in condition (athletes foot). It may work for you, but it did not for me. I will finish the bottle (because it is not making the condition worse) but will not re-order. Customer service, though, is top notch - I think you can try without risk because they do offer a money back guarantee. I believe this does work for some things, it just did not work for my problem.

Personally I didn't like it, I purchased the Oleavine Antifungal Soap with Tea Tree and Neem for Body, 12 oz before this one for $15, and it was amazing I got the tingly feeling from the peppermint I was looking for. This one didn't have that, and over all I didn't feel clean after showering with it.

Doesn't have any impact on my rash / jock itch.

I've been using it for a few weeks for tinea versicolor on my back, and the rash is still there, so the product has not worked for me. I was hopeful that it would work, so I could avoid a trip to the doctor for antifungal meds, but unfortunately it didn't work. The smell of this soap is also not great, its not terrible but also just not great.

Used daily as directed for a month, finished the whole bar, and couldn't tell that it made any difference at all. TV not only didn't go away, but even continued to spread exactly the same as when not using anything. Also, the smell is not overwhelmingly strong, but is a distinctly unpleasant scent.Kept two stars, because it's a fairly decent soap for removing dirt, lathers very well, it just doesn't do what it claims as a fungal soap.

Didn't work. Finally got rid of ring worm with EOs Lavender and tea tree. Also used pine gum salve.

For my hand eczema it made it worse because it added for blisters. Don't buy for hand eczema, go see your doctor or go to a urgent care and they will prescribe something 10times better than this.

Didn't work for me. My 12yr past pull date Lotromin (sp), does. Guess I have the wrong type of fungus. Is there a right type of fungus to have?

I purchased to use on ringworm. FALSE HOPE. I only used this product in affected areas and it agitated the skin like mad. A large, red, swollen rash popped up wherever I had used this on the skin. It's hot and SO uncomfortable... and I still have the ringworm. It's like a massive hive on the areas I've used the soap... I bought because of so many good reviews--but for skin this was a no go. A NO GO.

I didn't see any results honestly. Also it didn't foam at all so I felt like it wasnt actively working. I have purchased other anti fungul body washes and at least they made me feel cleaner.

Waste of money. Didn't work at all

I used this for a month or so, I suddenly started having itchy irritated skin. Apparently this made me break in a bad rash. Beware!

I had a persistent fungal rash throughout and I tried this for a month. It did not work but convinced me to seek proper medical treatment.

I have tinea versa color on my back and arm pits, i thought this would work but it did relativley nothing. I have a layer of what looks like shiny skin in spolotches and it looked the same after i ised the entire bar. Might be different for others or for different use.

Did nothing except make my skin feel like it was burning
