Griddle has many uses for your kitchen.
August 3, 2017
plates easily pop off for cleaning or flipping. Temp knobs glow two colors getting to desired temp and holding desired temp. Both drain to the rear tray. Burgers remain juicy while cooking. French fries don't take as long to cook in close quarters. Non-stick plates easy to clean. Open all the way for large dual heating surfaces. Flat or grooves up.
I love the reversible
May 14, 2017
Can't say enough about it! I love the reversible, removable plates. Dual side, adjustable heating option is a great feature. I can even open the top under the cabinets. Amazing upgrade from the cheaper ones I have used (and worn out) over the years. It stays on the counter all the time. Note: the edges of the plates get hot too, I'm a klutz & keep brushing against them.
Use it almost daily. Love it!

I have used another indoor grill for several years and saw an earlier Cuisinart Griddler and decided to buy it when my old grill quit. In the meantime, I've watched the evolution of these grills. Ideally, I'd like a smaller version with the exact features. Yes sometimes this is the perfect size, but having a smaller size would be more convenient to store and take in and out of the cabinet. I use it almost daily, but always put it away because it takes up too much room to leave out (a smaller version would live on my counter.) The floating lid and separately adjustable temperature for upper and lower grill is what sold me. I'd buy a waffle plate set in a minute if one becomes available. And having a timer would be convenient (there's always the range/oven timer or my phone but I tend to start and then walk away without remembering to check the time or set a timer.) The plates are much lighter than my old grill and much easier to clean. I can grill a pork tenderloin in under 20 minutes from preheat to done. My oven takes longer to preheat and then takes 30-40 minutes to cook after I sear the outside on top of the range. This saves a lot of energy especially during our long Texas summers. My old grill still works, just couldn't wait any longer for the convenience of the features on this one. I've cooked many pork tenderloins on the old grill but, because it predated adjustable temperature, all but the smallest tenderloins get too crusty before the middle is done.
Great!

This is a great appliance. We have used it almost every night since we got it and are very pleased. It seems to do everything that is claimed, and it does a great job of it. I like that you can easily fit two, and maybe even three sandwiches on it at once. I was concerned that the plates might have cold spots, but I grill a lot of vegetables and temperature seems even. I really like the dual controls and the versatility of the two-sided plates. The one thing this is missing is waffle plates. I like that the top can hover so you can melt cheese on an open-faced sandwich. My husband figured out a way to use it as a warmer too. Once your food is cooked, wrap it in a foil packet and put the packet back on the grill set on a low temperature. Close the lid and have it just hover over the packet. The only con is that it is somewhat time consuming to clean. You DO have to use some kind of oil or your food will stick. I never use regular cooking oil or spray on the plates because in time they would become sticky and really impossible to clean. We only use coconut oil and it cleans up nicely. That being said, it is still a bit of work to clean the ridged plates to my satisfaction. (I would never run the plates through a dishwasher even though the instructions say you could.) I use the tool that came with it, then I also use a plastic scrubber (because the tool only gets so much). I follow that with a paper towel along all of the ridges. The flat side is a breeze to clean and I find I am using it more than the other side. I can forgo the grill marks to make clean-up easier. ;-)
We are absolutely in love with this product.

I normally don't do reviews but this product deserves one. Everything I was missing in my old griddle came true here. The detachable and dishwasher safe plates are awesome, so is the temperature control knobs with light indicator that goes green when set temperature is met. The size is small enough to fit in my kitchen space, yet expands to have two griddlers space. I can't think of any negative about this griddle. Absolutely, superior product to my old George forman.
Easy to clean & easy to use!

I live in an apartment and only cook for myself, I haven't used the stove since I received the griddler. I have prepared 1" steaks to perfection, hamburgers, pork chops, chicken, and even pancakes with delicious results. The temperature control allows me to time how long to leave the food on the griddler without burning or guessing. The sear function provides a beautiful grill sear that competes with even the best steak houses. The adjustable height allows me to set the top grill just on top of the food without squishing out all of the juice leaving me with great tasting and juicy burgers. I also like how the top "floats" on the food so it cooks the top evenly. When you flip the grill grate to the other side you have a nice griddle that works perfect for pancakes, eggs, and fish. The price for the unit seemed a little high but I'm very pleased that I decided to spend the extra. The construction of the unit is very sturdy. The plates attach/detach very easily. It has stood up to my daily use and I believe will continue to for awhile.TLDR; Expensive but a great buy!

I LIke It.
April 10, 2017
I bought this item because of the reviews. I was kind of skeptical at first, but after using the grill, I really like it. It is a great way to cook meat. It works well on burgers, steaks, and thinner chicken breasts.. The cleanup is a little bit of a bother, but worth it.

February 9, 2017
This grill is so good. I've had George Foreman grills before, but I like this one better. I love that you can control the temperature. Also, since there are plates on the top and bottom, it makes for faster and even cooking. It's not that hard to clean - I use a grill brush when the plates are still hot and then I'll wipe down with a damp paper towel before I put the grill away. Definitely a great purchase!

This works great. I am in between grills as we have moved but still like a good steak now and then. This was the solution. Its super easy to setup. Some people complain about cleaning but its very easy. Have wet paper towels ready for when your food is done. Wrap food in foil or cover to rest for at least 10 mins. Unplug and places wet paper towels on grill and close. Get more wet paper towels and go back to grill and slide wet towels around with tongs. I have a roll of cheap paper towels so I use as many as I need. Usually about 8 of the half towels and the thing come clean.***update***I have had it for almost 2 years now and still love it. We use it once every week or two. I have made steaks, burgers, chicken cabobs and veggies. All turn out great. The fact that it grills on both sides is a huge advantage. Just set in on and set your timer. I am seriously considering grabbing another one. It always seems that when I find something I like and it works, it gets discontinued.
It's a true gotta-have.
February 18, 2016
Awesome! Very good indoor results. I have done NY strips, ribeyes, burgers, and fish. It's a true searing grill. Had the George things and they were easy to clean (dishwasher) but were short lived and not really capable as a searing grill. These grill grates are easy to clean. I saw a review that said put a wet towel in the grill after removing food. I use a triple sheet wet paper towel and just let it cool with the paper towel inside and then just wipe it down. Good to go. But, the grilling results have been amazing. I have a big green egg. It rocks! But when I have a craving and the weather is bad for the BGE, my go-to method is this grill. Great grilled cheese, too!

February 14, 2016
this is an awesome appliance. I can cook a frozen strip loin right from the freezer to a perfect medium rare in less than 10 minutes!Really easy to wipe clean with a wet paper towel while still hot. Highly recommend for fast even cooking of pork chops, boneless chicken breasts and steaks. I use a electronic temperature probe which I insert into the meat between the grill plates and when it beeps its done perfect every time.
VERY IMPRESSED!
November 21, 2011
This little gem is better than I had even expected! I have used it for burgers and steaks. This is the next best thing to outdoor grilling. MUCH, MUCH better than George Foreman. I recommend it to anyone who doesnt' wish to grill out in the bad weather. Five minutes and you have a perfectly cooked steak. I use the sear feature and half way through flip the steak over and hit the sear button again so it has criss cross grill marks just like the steakhouse. LOVE the sear feature. Cooked bone-in pork chops and because of the bone, the meat made kind of uneven contact with the grill and didn't cook quite as evenly as boneless, but still turned out okay. A word of advise on clean up. Do NOT follow manufacturer's direction on using a single wet paper towel. I did that and it was a messy time consuuming nusiance to clean and food was cold by the time I got to eat. My method is tons better. Take a thick CLOTH kitchen towel get it good and wet with HOT water. Fold in half so it is double-layered and place on hot grill immediately after removing food. Unplug and simply walk away! I will let it steam for quite a while. Later when you lift up the lid because of the non-stick surface the mess just simply, easily and quickly wipes away after having steamed for some time. No trouble at all. Couldn't possibly been easier. Wish I would have thought of that when I was cleaning my Foreman. Try this method instead of one skimpy paper towel. The manufacturer needs to change the directon on that! Also, the dripcup is a joke.. it doesn't attach and just sits there and easily scoots away from the drip spout to make a mess. It is a mystery why a beautifully designed appliance has this flaw. It is like it was an afterthought. Would have been nice if they had included a recipe booklet as well. Don't let a couple negative things discourage you from buying this.... I recommend it HIGHLY!!!! Try it YOU WILL LIKE IT!!!

We like this for the paninis and the griddle but it also seems good on proteins (and also is good to grill veggies, which we like much better on this vs an outdoor grill). At some point if you have a stove and an outdoor barbecue this is not necessary, still I think it is well made and at least ours seems to work properly. The comments by purchasers that their unit did not work correctly is concerning as this is not cheap and Amazon only protects you for 30 days. I am trying to use mine often during this 30 days so if it is defective I can return it. So far so good.
Very Good Grill!
May 7, 2017
I like this grill. It heats up well. I actually don't need to sear. I just cook it at the proper temp and it sears well. It's easy to clean I wash with soap and water while the grill it still warm, so it's easier to remove the char. What I don't like is that it takes a little too long to heat up. It should be faster at heating up. Overall, it's a good grill.
This isn't your Frank Gorshin griddler, but it is a nice purchase.
February 23, 2016
The griddler offers an easy method of cooking, though a bit messy around the appliance. It is easy to use, and the grill plates are easy to clean. At first look, it appears to be cheap for the price; so far it has worked without any problems. We have put it on a rigorous test of cooking with the griddler for over a week. The only incomplete part of this is one of the reason we bought it and that is for pancakes and french toast. We have made paninis, grilled chicken breast, grilled chicken strips, fish, hamburgers, grilled cheese, grilled vegetables, and a few other food items. At this point, everything has worked well. Be careful with overcooking food items for it is dependent upon the food thickness. You can only cook two chicken breasts (pounded out) at a time. Four hamburgers can be made with easy.Pros:- The food has cooked as advertised.- Grill plates are easy to remove and attached.- Grill plates are easy to clean.- Faster cooking.Cons:- The surrounding area can be sprayed with grease splatter. Recommend covering area.- The grease splatter covers the appliance.- It doesn't taste like it was on a grill (Miss that carcinogen flavour).- Can create a lot of smoke (You're grilling indoors after all).- I would like a waffle plate, but it is not a killer.- The user's manual isn't the clearest. I'm still not sure that I'm using the top section correctly. When I'm cooking on top and bottom, the back end tends to rest higher up than the front.- The adjustment feature is nice, but you must be careful when adjusting for you risk being burned especially when your tried to set the top part when it pops out or needs popped in. (If you buy it, you'll understand what I mean by "pop".)Okay, I happen to like this. On the list for cooking are pizza, steak, eggs, pancakes, and french toast. When heating the appliance, the top reaches the peak temperature first. I haven't tried the searing, yet.Overall, after a few weeks of use, I would recommend this product.
temperature evenness on upper griddle is not perfect but good enough
December 29, 2015
This is much bigger than the standard griddler. Got over the holidays and we used a lot to make sandwiches from leftovers. temperature evenness on upper griddle is not perfect but good enough. You can do anything with this - panini, pizza (yes frozen pizza works well), pancakes, bacon (panini side puts grill marks on your bacon!), etc. No waffle plates available but that's OK I have a round hotel-style belgian waffle iron.
Quality appliance, should last long time
November 23, 2014
This is definitely a good upgrade from your standard George Foreman grills.I've used it about a dozen times already in the couple weeks I've had it - done fish, burgers, chicken, steak.Pros -I was impressed by the warmup time, and how it could maintain that temperature through the cooking process - something my old GF grill could not do. Cleanup is easy too so far.Cons -My main complaint is that when you have the top plate floating in the closed position, and then you open it... the top plate will be positioned such that junk will drip down onto your countertop, not the drip tray. You also should make sure it doesn't trip hot grease onto the power cable. See my attached picture. You can avoid this by locking the top plate everytime you open it.Tip -Make sure your meat is pretty dry if you want it to get browned. If you slop a soaking wet piece of marinated meat on there, you can't expect it to brown - it will just be sitting in a puddle of liquid and won't brown. The slots on the plates aren't too tall.In summary - great, but not perfect. It seems like a quality appliance. I expect it to last a long time.
Excellent purchase!
January 1, 2014
I have had my griddler for about thee weeks now and it has been a great purchase . I have used it every day for lunch and dinner to grill paninies, Fresh veggies, hamburgers , chicken, fresh and frozen, fish, pizzas and fruits. I have not had to clean my stove top for weeks, which was my incentive for buying the griddler. I have had to experiment with cooking times and can easily grill a burger on the sear feature in two minutes. An easy way to clean the griddler is to place dampened paper towels between the warm plates for five or ten minutes and the n remove and rinse plates.I have only used the flat plates a few times and realize that I will have to experiment with them for a while. The reason for the four stars is because I have found that some staining has occurred on the outside stainless that has been impossible to clean. We are just two people eating every day and this product is just making my life much easier and my cooking a whole lot healthier. I highly recommend the griddler deluxe !

i agree with pretty much everyone else!
February 25, 2014
I read the reviews on this grill and pretty much every review I could find online about this type of grill. I chose it even though users said it was hard to clean (no removable plates) because it sounded like it gets good and hot. Several reviews of ones with removable grill plates said theirs didn't get hot enough. Also, I used to have a waffle iron/ sandwich appliance that I threw out because it didn't do either one well, and the plates kept dropping down! I've used this new grill ALOT since I got it, and yep! it's a pain to clean up, but it works really well and I like it! I didn't have much luck with the wet paper towel clean up method- I just used a plastic scrubber brush. It seems like a poor design that the drain is right on top of the electronics- it's hard to keep that part from getting wet while cleaning the grill, and yeah, I lost the drip pan after the first time I used it! (I just use a little dish to catch the drippings- it's heavier and doesn't tip over so easily) It's neat that I can take a frozen chicken breast and cook it in a few minutes and it's tender and juicy! (I used the sear on it) I'd buy the grill again, but first I'd check out the new one by T-Fal that tells you when your meat is done to the degree you chose! I didn't find that one online when I was shopping.

I removed my original response and want to revise my rating. I really like the grill. The instructions warn that the top & handle get hot but the handle actually stays cool to the touch. I did not touch the metal parts so I assume they do get hot. Grills quickly: thick chicken breast cooked in about 12 minutes or so...juicy. I cooked fish, that took about 8 minutes or so. Used olive oil to coat both sides of the meat to prevent sticking. Clean up was easy; used a warm wet cloth and closed the cover to let the water from the cloth steam the grates. Careful, let the grill cool for a couple minutes then use this clean up method...the cloth does get hot.Remember, set your temp then once that temp is reached hit the sear button. Do not put your meat on the grill right away, let the sear temp heat up. When the temp stops flashing the sear is ready. Pretty cool. There is a corner drip pan that fits in the front left corner, small yet deep enough so you don't have to worry about it over flowing. The pan's drip angle does flow nicely, at the correct angle.I was hesitant when I got this, as many people are. I have seen other grills, especially the George Foreman, most seem flimsy. This is not flimsy at all. Well made....I would recommend this purchase!
It's ok
January 22, 2014
PROS:1) Makes my life easier. I HATE cooking with oil, so this grill is a life saver! All I do is preheat it, then spray the top and bottom with cooking spray, and then I'm good to go.2) Double plates (top/bottom) so no need to flip meat.3) Comes with a manual that tells you the optimal temperature and time to cook your meats.4) Lightweight.5) Doesn't burn my chicken. Cooks it in 20 minutes at 375F, the way I like (depends on how you like your meats)6) Has a sear option. It will sear the meat for 90 secs and then go back to the temp. it was originally cooking at.7) Minimal smokeCONS:1) The cord is way too short. It's definitely meant to be placed right next to an outlet, which is a nuisance because I have to constantly unplug and move the microwave out of the way. Consider getting an extender cable.2) This thing is a PAIN to clean. You MUST clean this right after you cook or else it will be difficult to wipe all the gunk off. They give you a tiny bin to put near the drain so the water you use to clean the grill will drain into the bin and not onto the counter. It is a useful solution, but I would much rather have liked it if the plated were removable.CONCLUSION:Should you buy this indoor grill? I don't know. You might be able to find a better/cheaper one if you keep looking. One that is easier to clean with removable plates would be nice. But as a student, this thing has saved my life quite a few times. I love it, but there are the few nuisances that I explained in cons.
Considering the excellent searing function, this is a value
December 30, 2013
I wrote on Amazon many years ago that grills needed a searing function. Now this and the new Griddler Pro have this function, the latter having removable plates, and the former costs 1/3 the price. As to the Hamilton:This is somewhat difficult to clean, but do put a wet towel in. Then I use the George Foreman Grill sponges, available on Amazon, and the groves in those make cleaning less onerous.Pay absolutely no attention to the cooking times in the booklet. They are NOT designed to use the sear function. For many foods, if you sear at 500 and use the timings they give, you will get extremely well done, not medium rare or medium.I think having a sear function is absolutely necessary for resulting quality, and this is the most cost effective, if not the most feature rich, available.
Rescued by Amazon
September 25, 2013
Originally bought this on 9/16 and yesterday when I tried it for the first time I found the controls didn't work, all it would do is heat to default temperature. the raise and lower buttons and the sear didn't work. I contacted amazon via the web site, the arrainged to pick up the broken grill and send me a new one. 24 hours later the new one came old one went back and I tested this one right away and it works fine. I previously owned a grill by Cuisinart with replaceable plates and didn't like it because the plates wre hard to store in my cabinets. also tried the little red round thing but it was a bad idea from the start. This grill is sturdy and hopefully the controls will stay working.
Great grill!
November 23, 2012
This grill is a great buy. I turn it on, it beeps, I put my stuff on and close it. It cooks (whatever) in a few minutes and I'm eating. Love it. I can use it all day. Grills bacon perfectly in the morning, does paninis for lunch and steaks or burgers or chicken breasts for dinner. Grills slab veggies like a champ. The cleanup is tricky at first, but I found that heating it back up and getting a soaked paper towel in bowl of water and wiping it down using tongs works REALLY well.My only irritations are the stand-alone grease catcher should be a drawer. Also, when you open or clean the top grill, it seems to me a little design tweak could catch the grease there too. A shut-off timer would make this thing PERFECT.Nothing here should deter you. It's a great grill with potential!

There's a lot to like about this appliance
July 1, 2014
There's a lot to like about this appliance, but also some things that don't work as well as I'd like. So far, I've tried pancakes, flatbreads, pizza and panini in this grill. By far, the best has been panini. Pros: Size, quick pre-heat time, removeable plates Cons: One of the plates never wants to snap into place under both clips and I have to struggle with it while the other side has no problems. The two sides don't seem to heat the same when on the same temperature setting, pancakes take much longer to cook than on the stove top and the connection that allows the lid to float is so loose that it comes apart when I don't want it to. While I like the appliance, I don't think I'd get another one if something happened to this one.
Cooks fast
May 18, 2014
Mechanically there have been no problems with the Cuisinart but I'm disappointed with the searing feature. I paid extra for this and while it does an OK job of cooking steaks and hamburgers very quickly there is really no searing to it. Meats come out looking anemic and pale. Oh, they're cooked all the way through but don't have anywhere close to a seared outside. It's also terrible for cooking pancakes on. The griddle simply doesn't get hot enough quickly. It takes forever to cook them. If your main interest is to have your food cooked in 5 minutes or less and don't really want to ever cook pancakes or anything like pancakes then you may be happy with this. I'm not all that thrilled. But I will say clean up is easy.
But now it's stopped working
December 31, 2013
This larger Cuisinart Griddler is much more convenient to use than our previous smaller one, so we just gave the old one away. The cooking surface is bigger enough to make a couple extra servings of the food I'm grilling, without the machine taking up too much more counter space. The temperature controls seem to be more precise and can be independently set for the two grilling plates. And the drip pan in the back is especially nice to catch not only liquid fat flowing off the lower plate, but also any stuff falling off the top plate, which always fell on the countertop with the smaller grill. The rear drip pan slides out easily for cleaning in a dishwasher. I highly recommend this machine. This was a super machine but after a couple uses the upper plate started working intermittently and now two months later it has completely stopped working. From the beginning the control knob for the upper plate has been much looser than the control for the lower plate, so the problem seems to be there. I spoke with Cuisinart customer service today and they will be sending out a new one, but I will have to pay to box up and mail back the old one. They say it will take a few weeks to get the new one since they are backordered.

Important Panel Missing
July 1, 2016
I was so disappointed when I opened my Hamilton Beech Griller. There was NO Panel on the backof it, that normally houses all of the electrical wiring. Needless to say, it looked like it would be dangerous to plug in & cook with.I called the Company and was told I must give them the unit's Serial Number. Guess where THAT is located....ON THE MISSING PANEL!I was told there was nothing they could do for me without that #. Even though I had every other # listed from the box it came in, I was told these numbers wouldn't suffice.Well, I improvised something to hold the wires in place and cooked with it anyway. It's a good Griller, large cooking area, heats up very quickly plus it is attractive. I will use it again, as long asI feel it is safe.

This is a great grill. The ONLY thing about it that I don't like is that the plates are not removable for washing up. I didn't realize that when I made the purchase otherwise I would have made a different choice.
Works ok
June 8, 2016
Cooks things well, but the sear setting is kind of annoying if you aren't intending to sear something........as some have mentioned it doesn't come with any sort of cookbook but it does give you general cook times for basic items which is really nice. It also is not very easy to clean. If you are cooking any type of meat and with any kind of marinade the standard putting a wet paper towel in it and closing it and then wiping it down does not exactly work. It does take a few tries and a few extra scrubbings with a wet paper towel. Its a solid product and I'm fine with it, but if going at it again I probably would opt for something different. I will say thus far the asparagus is my favorite thing on it, and it does that extremely well
Go With Detachable Cooking Surfaces
December 6, 2015
Works as advertised, but there is one big negative: the cooking surfaces do not detach for cleaning, and cleaning them is a bit of a pain. We've found that they clean much more easily if you spray PAM or equivalent on the surfaces before cooking. But it's still a nuisance cleaning them in place. This unit cost about $30 - $40 less than a George Foreman grill with detachable surfaces (a unit we also own), but in the long run, the extra cost is more than made up by the convenience of cleaning the plates that come off and can be soaked in the sink. At least for us. No complaints about how it cooks, though.
Ok for an indoor grill.
November 29, 2013
This works as an adequate indoor grill and I do use it. It is hard to clean though and if you put 4 hamburger patties or 2 small-ish steaks, they don't cook evenly, even with the hinged lid. It's better than no grill or broiling though.
searing
March 28, 2013
I ordered this. Tried it once. Have owned a George Foreman before. It cooks faster, you can adjust the temp, but instructions say must press sear. The drip cup must stay in place until grill is clean. With the temperature controls being on the bottom of base, the grease did splatter on the control area. It did make a mess. I was going to buy another George Foreman, at double the cost for the same features. If you can deal with cleaning the splatter, keep away from walls, this is a fine product with the control features for the price.

flimsy quality
September 27, 2017
Plates definitely do not snap in properly without some adjustment to the flimsy brackets holding them in. Top plate likes to fall out. The only way I was ever able to get it to stay in was to open the griddle flat. Levers operating the various positions are clunky. Plates don't contact well enough for a proper grilled cheese. Heating elements are not built in, so heating is uneven top and bottom.I've already given this away. Quality seems inferior for the name "Cuisinart."
Lower plate not hitting temp in time
May 11, 2017
Top plate reaches 400 in about five minutes or less. Bottom plate takes about 40. Other than that I like it. Once this issue is resolved I will edit my review.

We got this specifically because we thought it would be easy to clean. That definitely isn't the case and if you put it in the dishwasher you have to wash it by itself so your other dishes don't get flithly.
Not What I'd Hoped For
January 29, 2017
Not getting the results I was hoping for with this. It kind of steams the meat which isn't at all like grilling. I've had it too long to return otherwise I would.
Paid for a new item, not sure I got one.
December 14, 2016
The Amazon shipping box was undamaged. The Griddler box it contained had been been torn open and crudely taped back together. The contents had been messily repackaged. The unit itself appeared unused and undamaged. I set up it up to verify that it worked - it did.I was going to gift this and now have to find a new box for it. Not happy.
Shouldn't even be called a grille... maybe a hotplate?
March 30, 2015
Its a waste of money this grille doesn't get hot enough to cook a steak and that's why I bought it in the first place, to keep from always having to use my outside gas grille.

Please Bring Back The Prior Grills...
January 11, 2015
I am disappointed in this product. My top burner plate doesn't work so I am stuck with cooking all my food on the bottom plate. I liked my previous unit by Hamilton Beach it had deeper holes to let the fat flow and was easier to clean. The timer is horrible it sounds like a fire smoke alarm going off every time. This unit tells you the temp. that you are cooking at but doesn't have a count down timer that you can set and leave it and when it reaches that time a bell will sound not this unit I have to stay and watch the meat cook on one burner that works and one that doesn't. You really need to bring back the old units they were better made and dependable with a true clock. The container off to the left of the unit where all the fat drains in is poorly designed if you move the unit a little when adjusting your meet the plastic piece moves and fat gets all over the place. The old units had a built in plastic to the right that was out of the way when cooking and worked much better. Unless Hamilton Beach goes back to the units that were really good I won't be a customer again. I only gave it a 2 because it looks nice the functions are horrible very disappointed.
OK for toasting sandwiches
December 31, 2013
The cooking surface is barely large enough for 4 burgers; the grease tray is small; and the plates do not detach for easy cleaning. I did love having a digital thermostat and was great for toasting (i.e.ham & cheese) sandwiches but pretty expensive to only use as toaster!!
Not for burgers
June 17, 2013
The lid is too heavy for burgers and is difficult to balance on top of your food. If you don't center the meat perfectly on the grill the heavy lid tilts either forwards or backwards, squishing your burger patty thin and flat on one side while the other side gets undercooked because there is no weight on that side. Even if you do manage to balance it, the lid is so heavy it flattens the patty out way too much. And salmon burgers? Forget it. They'll come out flat as a pancake. All of these foods used to come out beautifully on my Salton-made George Foreman grill before it died. I bought this Hamilton Beach model based on the number of positive reviews, even though my opinion of this brand is that they usually make cheap quality junk. Well I guess the positive reviewers just use it to sear steaks, it's pretty much a one-trick pony in that respect. I should have stuck with my original instinct - this thing is slow to heat up, a hassle to clean, not versatile, and both the plastic front bezel and the lid-stop broke on mine in no time. Just like I thought, junk.
Returned it.
April 4, 2013
I bought this item and when I received it I discovered that the alert signal to let you know it had reached the correct temperature did not work so I sent it back for a replacement. The replacement arrived with the same problem so I send the second one back for a refund. I didn't actually use the grill for cooking so I can't comment on its performance. If an alert beep in not important to you then you might be happy with this product.
Was great but troubles with non-stick coating
June 4, 2012
Got this grill about 3 months ago and we use it about 5 times a week. Does a wonderful job cooking, but cooking surface is flaking off, despite only ever washing it with a wet cloth. We'll see how customer service deals with a warranty claim, and update...

If it only worked properly
June 23, 2017
Cuisanart elite. How can you go through the entire process of developing a product and not confirm it works as intended? The bottom plate would not preheat to 350°f after an hour on the flat top. The bottom would preheat to 350°f on the grill side up in 10 minutes. This is obviously a faulty item that should have never been produced or should have been recalled. Please know you have 30 days to return the product so you do not lose money. If it does work I recommend buying insurance on it
Quit Working after 7 Uses
February 9, 2017
Actually, I loved it and this would be a five-star review if it hadn't quit working. It was delivered December 12, 2016. Used it a total of seven times and it quit working -- that was January 6, 2017. Getting in touch with support so far has proved impossible. They are too busy with a blender recall to help in the near future. So far, have not been able to find any local repair shop. If this had worked a year or so, I'd just throw it away but it's still brand new and I may have to throw it away or try to repair it myself. The seven times it worked, it was great.

I've had this griddle for a few months now, it works alright. Takes a while to get to sear temps, but that's no biggie. Unfortunately it's already crapped on me and it hasn't been more than 4 months. Will call customer service when I can to see how that experience is so everyone can know.EDIT: So I contacted support which wasn't too bad but they want me to pay to send it back...smh. Your product crapped out on me and I have to pay for its unreliability? I recommend going for a different brand with better support
Stopped working

Used this product only 3 times and now the unit will not power up. Amazon says they will not take it back. I'm done with Cuisinart and Amazon.
WARNING !!!!! Cuisinart CHARGES you to ship the broken item back and for the replacement!!!!
February 6, 2016
I actually loved it but it broke! I have only had it since Oct 2015 (four months), and one of the prongs to the upper plate came off with the plate????? Very shoddy for a lot of $$$$$ Also I emailed the pics and a request for contact and they never called or responded. However I did calll them Monday only to have someone tell me I would be charged shipping both ways for them to honor their warranty. REALLY? When I asked I was told it states this on their warranty that I am responsible for shipping. This item is heavy so think twice, then go buy a Foreman grill or any other Brand! Also rethink the Canopy warranty they are no help, you pay for two years but the first year is covered by Cuisinart so you only really get one year coverage. I am still trying to reach Cuisinart to get this resolved.

Glued on Piece Snapped off
May 27, 2017
This would be a good product except for the fact that the protector on the top part of the grill that allows the top section to be manipulated a little bit and protects people from burning themselves broke off after only 3 months! Why did it break? because the piece was only attached by a flimsy metal wire and glue!Other than the fact that the product broke after only 3 months, I will note that it is a pain to clean since the grill doesn't come apart.Hamilton Beach 25331 Super Sear 100-Square-Inch Nonstick Indoor Searing Grill

According to your review, the Cuisinart is 366 inches by 720 inches. That's not even going to fit in my driveway, much less my kitchen.
