OMG read my updates... Direct lan to laptop to his device SCREAMS.
April 20, 2017
Wow I had never read the 1 star reviews. I likely would not have bought one. But I did... works GREAT except I tried direct LAN connection to my laptop and that doesn't work. (maybe user error? might have to configure it in settings)? I'll look into that.

I run a observatory in my yard. 300+ feet from my router. I have 5G and 2.5G on the router. (cable internet). I could BARELY connect to the 2.5 300+ feet away. I got this for 1/2 way... but first time I tried it I just plugged it in next to the laptop 300+ feet out. It picked up good signal and was giving the laptop 5 bars. Works great. MY PROBLEM is my laptop is old and has slow wifi. So I want to try direct LAN connection. I got 50mbs in the house and 10 at the laptop. I may have to get a faster/newer laptop. Many reviews say it died in a couple months. I'll report back if mine does.

UPDATE OMG! I worked on the LAN connection. Seems I had a bad cable. It's now working, My speedtest.net went from 15mbps to 66 mbps!!! Now that LAN is working - I'm going from 4 to 5 stars!

PS - I think the 1 star reviews are user/error.
Excellent product - A must have for extending your wifi!!
February 23, 2017
I had terrible wifi reception in my bedroom. I'd have five bars in the front of the house but in my bedroom/bathroom at the back of the house I had one, maybe two bars at most. I don't have cable tv so all my entertainment/news/internet is done over wifi. This product is amazing! Very easy to install, took less than five minutes start to finish and now I have five bars in my bed/bath all the time! If you need an extender I highly recommend this one. It is fantastic. Just follow the instructions, no wire/cable necessary for installation. I live in a 1,200 sq ft condo for reference.
simple setup and great range after

This review is for NETGEAR N300 Wi-Fi Range Extender, Essentials Edition (EX2700)
by Netgear
My friend asked me to solve his networking issues because his house had been added on to and the back wall to his living room is brick which leads to the rest of his house which prevents the wifi signal from being very good just on the other side of this wall.
Luckily he had an outlet in the hallway leaving the living room and so this was what I got him to solve his issues.
This was very easy to configure, after plugging this is and letting it power on completely, the power LED on the device will be green, I logged onto the local website to configure it and it was up and running. It took longer for my friend to decide what he wanted as the security questions / answers then it did for any other part of installing this.
Great item with easy install and that is why I give this five stars.

I really hope that this review was helpful to you, if it was, please take the time a click yes below, thanks.
and am very happy with it
January 5, 2016
I've used this for a month now, and am very happy with it. It replaces a Diamond range extender that had become unreliable; it would lose connectivity every time the microwave was used for more than a couple of minutes. I would have to reconnect the satellite box, the Blu-ray player, and the Roku box several times each week, and suffered occasional buffering when the Diamond slowed down. I have a 20 MPS connection through Centurylink DSL (fastest available in my neighborhood), so I didn't have a lot to spare once an extender cut the speed in half.

This has proven to be both reliable AND more effective. The receiver portion seems to be more sensitive, so I was able to put the extender in a more convenient location and still receive an excellent signal from the router. All three of my internet-capable video devices show a stronger signal and faster downloads. Amazon went from a 5 MPS average to an 8 MPS average, and Netflix went from 3 MPS to 6 MPS. I can now watch Netflix HD without down-res or buffering.

Setup was extremely easy using WPS. Simply plug in, wait a couple of minutes for the unit to boot, then push the WPS button on the extender. You then have two minutes to push the WPS button on your router, and the extender connects. You can then go to your devices and do a search for Wifi networks -- there will be at least one and possible two showing: one will have your original network with a "2" suffix and the other will have your original network name with a "5" suffix. Both will use the same password as your Wifi router. Pick the one with the stronger signal or the one that best meets your needs. The "2" band has a longer range but may suffer from more interference from microwaves or fluorescent lights; the "5" band may have a weaker signal at long ranges but will be less prone to interference.

Very happy with it so far -- the extender is about 40 linear feet from the router, through one ceiling and floor, one wall, and several cabinets. It is about 25 feet from the AV cabinet, and all of the devices report a strong signal with acceptably fast downloads.
Great extender with ridiculously easy setup, best value out there
August 29, 2014
I purchased one of these for my technology-challenged parents who have a rather large house and their wifi router upstairs. Lots of duct work, pipes, wiring, etc. between the router (in the FAR upper left corner of the house) and the devices in their kitchen, on the deck, in the garage, etc.

The extender was up and running in less than 5 minutes, WPS setup with their TrendNet router could not have been easier. Wifi signal downstairs immediately doubled, or better. Devices that were registering Poor signal with 1-5MBps connections now show excellent and 65MBps+.

I highly recommend this device for anyone who has dead spots, routers upstairs or in the basement or anyone who just needs to extend their G/N wireless signal.

Works great
November 28, 2015
The product after the fact gets five stars. The setup instructions gets ZERO. I tried to setup the Wi-Fi range extender as suggested in the attached pamphlet, but it did not work. I was ready to return the product, but with Thanksgiving on the way I did not get a chance. Recently I received an e-mail from Yan Hua (the Amazon seller) containing a revised, a bit more detailed instructions. I followed it, but again the setup failed. As I was doing a screen capturing of where the setup went wrong to e-mail back to Yan Hua, I noticed that the pop up window that asked for the extender's passcode (which is on the label on the device) also had a clickable text/link saying "I do not want to configure, just want to connect to it". Before I blindly entered the asked for passcode, and could not get to the setup IP 192.168.10.253 configuration screen. So I reset the extender as in the e-mail and started all over, and clicked the "I do not want to configure, just want to connect to it" link. After this, everything went as described in the e-mail. My router is in the basement, and before on the second floor I would have two bar signal. I placed the extender on the first floor, and now I have the maximum five bar signal. Did not notice any reduction in speed.I do recommend the product, it works great once it is set up as a repeater. Patience, endurance and a bit of common sense helps a lot.
Exactly What I Needed
November 12, 2015
The product is exactly as advertised and was shipped promptly. It is very fairly priced. A bargain actually. This device is exactly what I needed. It operates in 5 modes, and I needed the repeater mode so that I could extend my ISP WiFi's reach outside my house and into my back and side yards. This device does that. My ISP's WiFi speed at the location where I plugged in the Motoraux is ~16 Mbps. But outdoors my ISP's router signal strength falls so low that my phone and iPad would switch over to LTE, and I'd start chewing up my cellular data package. Now I get ~16 Mbps outdoors. I can stream audio and video without concern. No device can relay data faster than it gets data, so this device is optimal in performance for me.You may notice that other users have questions about how to set up the device. I did, too. Actually I'd got it set up correctly, but got a message from the installation software that seemed to say I had a problem. I wrote a message to the seller on my order page and sent it off in the afternoon. The next morning I had a comprehensive response to my message. I believe the seller's offices are in Asia and I'm in California, so a 12-hour turn-around is lightning fast. The seller obviously places a lot emphasis on customer satisfaction, and both his concern and his capability to help have satisfied me.Highly recommeded.
Great product!
November 10, 2015
A great little product! The product documentation is complete, although at your first look you might be puzzled and perhaps overwhelmed. Yes, the English is a little strange, but that is to be expected when it's written by a non-native writer. All the information that's needed is there, even though the screenshots are tiny and don't have high enough color contrast to read the values in the fields.I am using this device as a repeater to strengthen our WiFi signal downstairs, as our router is upstairs. I just plugged it into a wall socket, and connected to the "Wireless-N" network on a laptop. Opened the console in a browser as shown in the instructions, logged in with the default admin username and password, then selected "Repeater Wizard" from the block. Then, you just have to select the name of your WiFi network, the one you want to extend, click "Save & Apply* and wait. After a few seconds, the unit resets, and you then can re-connect to your original WiFi network. This was much easier to set up than I had thought, and it has made a big difference in the stability and strength of our signal throughout the downstairs of the house. Very pleased with this product.
Excellent As Repeate. Instructions Could Be Difficult For Newbies. Detailed Repeater Setup Below. Takes Time To Ship From China
November 6, 2015
Please note this ships from China so the shipping does take a while (weeks to a month). I am using this device in "Repeater" mode. Repeater mode means that the device will simply extend or boost an existing wireless network. This is best if you already have wifi working in your home but the signal is weak in some areas or you'd like a stronger signal further away. It took me about 3 minutes to set up but while reading the provided instructions I understand how it could be a bit confusing so here are some simplified steps for setting it up via repeater mode (These steps are ONLY for setting up via Repeater mode which I believe is what most people would be using this device for):1) Plug the device into a wall outlet near a computer or laptop that has an ethernet connection (CAT5).2) Plug a CAT-5 cable (a short CAT-5 cable is provided in the package) into the port labeled "LAN" on the device and then plug the other end into your computer or laptop.3) On your computer or laptop launch a web browser of your choice (Internet Explore, Chrome, Firefox et. al.)4) In the address bar where you would normal type a url, instead type: http://192.168.10.253 and then press [ENTER]5) You should now see a green page asking for login. Enter the default username which is "admin" and the default password which is "admin" and click "Submit" to login.6) You should now see a page with a blue square up top displaying "wizards". Click the link that says "Repeater"7) On the next screen select your current wifi network from the list of available wifi access points. Enter in the password for your current wifi network and if you want, rename the SSID for the device. For example it defaults to "Wireless-N" but I simply renamed mine to my same WiFi name and added "-Repeater" so I could easily identify the repeater access point. For example if your current WiFi SSID is "PatriotsAreCheaters" then you could rename the SSID for the device to "PatriotsAreCheaters-Repeater" Then simply submit the form and wait while the device installs the settings and reboots. Once you don't see anything and it's just a blank page that seems to be trying to reload you are probably all set.8) Now disconnect the CAT-5 cable, unplug the device from the wall and move it. Plug it into an outlet that is centrally located in the home (higher up seems better so if you are in a 2-story home choose an outlet on the 2nd floor).9) After the device boots up grab your phone or other wifi device and go into your wifi settings like you normally would to connect to a wifi network at a coffee shop. You should now see the new device SSID listed. It will be named whatever you named it in step 7. Default is "Wireless N" I believe if you did not rename it. Select it to connect and you will be prompted for a password. Enter in the SAME password for your original home wifi. You should be connected and notice a much stronger wifi signal. That's it! I hope this helps someone. It did take a long time to arrive as it shipped from China but the device does work well as a repeater and is much less expensive than others.
you will be very pleased with the range of this thing
November 1, 2015
This range extender works really well. The instructions are awful, but I'll put some tips here that will help de-code them. First, make sure your internet is working and ignore steps 1-4. Next, plug the range extender into a socket that is very close to your computer. Take an Ethernet cord from the extender to your computer. You'll need to stay connected to your existing network, then type in the IP address they have provided into the address box. Type in username and password, then go to the "repeater" (if you want to extend the range of your wifi) feature. If your existing network is secure, you'll type the password in the field that says "key". Voila, you are done. Once you do this, you will be very pleased with the range of this thing.
Does what it is supposed to. I like
October 26, 2015
Im not sure of all the features of this extender, I only wanted to extend the range of my home wifi out into the garage. It will do that. The instruction sheet is very small and hard to read (for older people like me). I emailed the vendor and they very patiently went over the process with me. Thanks to their kind reply and instructions, I was able to extend the wifi signal to my garage so I can do some music streaming. Note that this will not boost the internet speed. That will remain the same as it is with your primary internet router. This only extends the signal into other parts of your house.PROS: Extends your existing wifi to another part of your homeFairly easy to set up. After I got more instructions, it took about 15 minutes (mostly reading time)It plugs right in to your power source and the plug in can change directions so you can mount it horizontal or verticalIt is password protected so no one can leach off of itCONS: You will have to choose the new network when you are using this extender vs. your primary wifi source. Not a big deal to me, but you can't just walk from one room to another. At least thats how it is for me, you may want to clarify that.I recommend this Range Extender if you need your wifi to go a little further into your house or possibly out into the yard.

July 30, 2017
I was at a loss in the wifi dead zone of my room. I did some research and this extender seemed to fit my needs the best. I gave it four stars because it was not easy to set up. It took two hours of troubleshooting to finally get it to obtain the IP address in order to use the device. Now I went from a fair signal, dropped signal and rebuffering on a regular basis to an excellent 5 bars and no more rebuffering frustration. The instructions were of no assistance so you will need to bring your patience along to take on this task, but the product itself has made me very happy indeed. If you are extremely tech savvy you might not have the same difficulties. I can find my way around computer stuff and am tech proficient...but this was a challenge and I could see someone less tech savvy having difficulties in getting this to work.
Very effective
June 19, 2017
This little unit has really helped my wifi reception in my back yard and shop. Where I was not getting good signal or any at all, I am now getting a strong signal and speeds seem to be fine. The only thing I don't like is that it operates on a different network than my main wifi, so when I walk back into the house, if I get too far away from this range extender and need to be back on the original network, I have to manually switch back. But for the price, I can't complain.
Works but hand-holds people way too much during setup
April 4, 2017
Following the instructions was easy but being an expert I was a bit miffed at not being able to go into advanced/expert setup immediately. The device insisted on hand-holding me through the setup. That docked star is also for the device being completely stupid about username and password... it wanted an email address (blah@blah.blah) for the username and it wanted two recovery questions/answers. Ridiculous for a small device like this which one can reset to factory defaults with the push of a button.Once I got through that mess I was able to login in again, go to setup, and turn off the wifi relay function since I only want to use the device for its hard ethernet port to connect to an old TiVO. And that port works quite well, thank you.-Matt
This wifi extender is very good and a solid choice
March 17, 2017
This wifi extender is very good and a solid choice. The instructions were well written and the setup was extremely easy. It extended my wireless signal another good 50+ feet through two more walls. The signal strength was excellent for that 50 ft and didn't become weak until about 75ft from the extender. I was pleased with the extenders wireless coverage and extending ability and it definitely served its purpose. I would definitely recommend.

I purchased this to replace a rather horrible solution I'd tried in order to use wifi with my computer that only had an Ethernet port. For the most part, it works rather well. My data speeds are great, plus I've got a much better signal for use on this side of the house. However, the one issue I've experienced is that the dumb software pops up and asks you to log in occasionally. The manual shows how to use without the online UI, which is how I chose to deploy the device. After seeing the UI pop up too many times, I created an account. Except it can't remember me and still pops up when it feels like it. Beyond that, I love this thing!
Works well, easy set up, but requires foolish security questions
March 10, 2017
Works well. Easy set up, but no advanced options.Less than five stars because I was irritated by the fact that the router requires filling out security questions like my mothers maiden name. Those things are never secure and I certainly don't want personal information like that stored in a wifi device that may or may not be secure now or in the future. I know how to manage my passwords. Of course, you don't have to fill these fields out correctly, but you better make sure that what you do fill out is not easy to guess. I dislike being forced to use security questionsWhat I like very much on this device are the status lights. Their meaning is very clear and they work.

Lots of Options means Lots of Understanding..
January 17, 2016
Lots of options means lots of understanding..I want to say that at first I was highly disappointed, BUT.. after talking with Motoraux, they were extremely helpful in resolving the issues I identified in my original perception of this product. I would like to share my positive experience and reasons why you should consider this product for purchase. For this review I want to be clear that I've only tested and utilized the "Repeater Mode" option and therefore I'll focus on this topic ONLY.Its important that going into a product like this, you have an understanding of what you need up front. Most people, including myself looked at my dead spots in the house as needed a Wifi extender, right? The truth is, Wi-Fi extenders/repeaters come in a number of flavors and have many caveats to consider when shopping.Lets educate.. This is a 30,000 ft overview of Wi-Fi extenders/repeaters and by no means is exhaustive. In a nutshell, Wi-Fi repeaters or extenders are used to extend the coverage area of your Wi-Fi network.- Repeater is a wireless network device that repeats wireless signals to extend range without being connected with cable to either your router/modem, or your clients. Many routers/access points can be configured in "repeater" mode.- Extender has the same functionality as a repeater. Extenders are usually devices that only do repeating, and can't be set in any other mode.In one example your Wi-Fi network is called, "MyWifi-1"... A repeater captures the signal of MyWifi-1 and is configured to re-transmit it under a new name, for example, "MyWi-Fi-2". This creates two points to access the same Wi-Fi network.*** There are many discussions out there that detail Wi-Fi channel configurations, SSID's usage and so forth. As there are so many different models of routers and repeaters, it is impossible to encompass every variation. Just know with any of these, some technical insight is required to get it to run at the best possible rates. Also, some higher-end repeaters that participate within the same Wi-Fi network name can lead to the throughput being cut in half for devices connecting to it and/or cross into what is called an "Access Point" which is usually a better option if you can run a wire.As an FYI, Access point are device connected with cable (Cat5) to your main router/modem/internet, and serve clients wirelessly. The Motoraux provides support for AP mode.So ultimately, there are tons of pro's and con's to everything, so lets reel this back in as to what you get from this device. This Motoraux Repeater DOES require you to name this repeater mode with it's own unique name, such as, "My-Wi-Fi-2", though it does in fact participate on the existing Wi-Fi network and therefore normal operations such as printing and so forth are not affected. In today's world of technology adding a new wi-fi spot is NOT a big deal in my opinion and as long as you have both setup in your device list, your primary Wi-Fi and now this repeated Wi-Fi, life is pretty good. Now with the technology basics explained, lets move on.I have another brand of Wi-Fi extender and to-date have not been pleased with it's operation which is what prompted me to purchase this one. The main reason was in fact that the throughput was cut in half, maybe more, but it did use the same Wi-Fi SSID, "MyWi-Fi-1". My daughter constantly complained over being disconnected as well I ended up getting hit with data overages from the cell phone company in lue of her not paying attention to how she was connected. 1 overage bill was enough to motivate me to seek another solution.Device Configuration:Setup of this device took about 5 minutes. The trick to getting up and running quickly is as follows,- Plug the device in to power and wait about a minute or two.- Use an iPad or Android tablet to find this devices network, (Wireless-N)- Log in and choose "Repeater Mode".- Next, select your 2.4g Wi-Fi network, (5g not supported)- Enter your Wi-Fi password.- Next, you MUST create a unique name for this device, IE: "MyWifi-r". Ideally just append a "-r" to the end of your current Wi-Fi name.- Click done.At this point, the repeater will reboot and become active on your Wi-Fi network. If you scan for it, you'll now see this device available to connect too. Simply add it to your wifi's using the same PW as your regular Wi-Fi and you're good to go.So How Does it Work?I was actually pleased to see that this nearly matched my primary Wi-Fi speed in comparison to my last extender device which cut the throughput down by up to 80%.I tested the Motoraux from both my phones, my iPads as well my TV's. In fact that was one of my challenges because the original slow extender would cause buffering on my 75" TV using Amazon fire stick and you never would know if a device was flip-flopping from the primary Wi-Fi to the extender under the same SSID name. The Motoraux device on the other hand has proven in the last week or two of testing to be much stronger and reliable than the other unit as well throughput is pretty comparable to my primary WiFi. .So why did I not give it 5 stars?Since amazon only gives 1,2,3,4,5 stars, I want to note this is probably a 4.25 rating and here's why.As I mentioned in the education section of this review, not only higher end devices can encapsulate your existing Wi-Fi name, but administration is still possible. Once I configured this device in Repeater Mode, ability to administer it appears to have been removed. I can only assume this is a software/firmware limitation or similar.I am hopeful they will release updated software that enables you to administer this device from whatever mode you are in.Currently, if you want to reconfigure it or simply administratively access it, after setting it up as a Repeater, you have to factory reset it by putting a pin in the side for up to 10 seconds. I have reached out to customer support in regards to this and are awaiting their feedback. In conclusion, this Motoraux works well in Repeater Mode and would recommend it based on price point as well ability to maintain the speed of my network and devices connecting to it. I've included pics from my network performance tests and overall are reasonably satisfied with the results in Repeater Mode.Moving forward, I do intend to test the AP functions of this device and will modify this review with the results in time.
Works great, but a bit difficult to set up
December 9, 2015
I really wish I could give the product 5 stars, but I cannot. The documentation is unclear and further to that it is written in a very small font. The net is that it (the documentation) is almost unusable. However, the sellers have recognized this issue and emailed me instructions for installing the unit in my network. They were also very responsive to my questions with the few problems I encountered.I would highly recommend installing the unit using the reset method.- Use a toothpick or paperclip and press the reset until the WPS light becomes solid; wait for about 3 seconds and release- The WPS light will go out and the WLAN LED light will flash- At this point, the unit is reset. You can then easily logon onto the unit with the following IP address: 192.168.10.253- I would use your phone (iPhone or Android) during the installation to prevent router disallowing certain MAC addresses- With your phone, type 192.168.10.253 in Safari / Chrome / your preferred browser- The Motoraux UI will come up; select "Repeater;" then, select the SSID of the network you want to connect to (this is the same SSID of your home network); the system will then ask you for a key -- this is the same password / key for your home network's router- Press Save and Reboot- Connect your Phone to Wireless-N SSID....you will be all set- Then connect other devices to Wireless-N ... use the same WPA2 key for your home network's routerAll in all, a bit of a pain to set up but the unit works great. If anyone needs any assistance with the Motoraux, please email me.
Difficult set up, but once you get it working, does a great job.
October 18, 2015
Anyone that gets this device, please know that in order for it to work as a wireless extender, you need to set up the REPEATER mode. Once you figure that out, and work your way through the instructions, it makes things much better for wireless internet range. I wish there was a way to make the instructions clearer, but its mostly translation issues and my own lack of knowledge on how repeater devices work.

Little tricky to configure but onces its going it works!
May 8, 2017
Took me about an hour to configure and I'm pretty good at networking. It's finicky at one point after I get the wifi on the 2ghz then 5ghz not working. Took me a bit to figure it out (dont bother with the phone support they are useless if you have done the basics) The wired connection works well on the 2ghz but on the 5ghz it was timing out or all the packets were not transferring (using a wired printer) so it was a hassle once I switched it to the 2ghz no problems since. For the price it does what it needs but does exceed expectations
Yesss it works!!!

Downgraded to 3 stars AFTER Using it for a while. After using this extender for a while I downgraded my review to 3 Stars. All the things from my initial review is true BUT What I discovered is this thing is keep dropping the connection. I have to keep turning it on and off at least once a day and that blows.Yessssss I have internet in my garage. When we moved to our new L shaped brick home my garage was strategically located in the worst possible spoT for WiFi. I got this extender in. took 3 minutes to set up (plug & play) BAM ! I got internet. SPEED! That i don't know. I got super slow speeds where I live so not sure if the extender slowing things or not.
Stopped working after barely 2 months
February 7, 2017
Set up was easy and unit was working but in less than 60 days it stopped for no apparent reason. I tried to reset and troubleshoot but just no lights or any indicator it works. I've been a loyal Netgear customer... 5-6 routers and other devices over 10 years. Hope this is a fluke in quality control. Will reach out to Netgear to see if they would provide a replacement.Update: Netgear support kindly sent a replacement and since April I've had no issues with the new unit. Overall the unit works as advertised although every so often it needs a reboot.

March 30, 2016
My wireless router is on the first floor of my house but the signal isn't strong enough to keep a decent connection for my Xbox One on the second floor other side of the house. After reading other reviews I ordered the product and bookmarked a review with step-by-step instructions on how to set it up since others said the instructions were lacking. Once the product arrived, I had no problems getting the extender configured and running using those instructions posted in that review. After placing the extender on the second floor of the house the Xbox shows '3 bars' of signal strength for the wireless router but '5 bars' of signal strength for the extender. The extender delivers a solid signal to all of the wireless devices I connect to it but there are times where the Xbox drops the connection or has some lag. For the price of the product, it functions well.
Works but does not have outstanding range
October 28, 2015
The product is functional. It does do some off on type things occasionally. It might be related to the range to the gateway. But that is the whole idea of getting one right? The house is average size about 2100 sf and the gateway is at the back corner in the closet. That is where it came installed. The extender is about half way to the front so it should be sufficient to reach the front of the house. Notice those little antennas on the side- they rotate so I rotated the one on the right side down toward the gateway and it seemed to clear up the signal loss. What sparked me to even buy this was because my Canon printer says it is wifi to my PC and its signal would not reach back to our gateway. Canon would not supply the usb cord to hook to PC.
Poor Instructions But Not Too Bad If You Use a Mobile Device
February 28, 2015
The way to connect this extender is by using a Kindle Fire, Android Tablet, iPad or other mobile device. The instructions are not very clear on what you need to install the device. So if you assume you can install this device using your desktop computer and that you'll be able to find the "wireless manager," you probably will have difficulty. In fact, some of the online questions for Netgear and Microsoft are where do you find the manager and how do you make it work. Unfortunately, the answers are typical techno-speak and basically difficult or impossible to follow. So for those who cannot read between the lines of the instructions, the way you install this is:1) Plug in the device. It will probably take several seconds, sometimes minutes, before the power light registers green. Do not despair. The instructions won't tell you that this will take some time, but it does.2) Get out your iPad, Kindle Fire, or other WIRELESS tablet or device. DON'T EXPECT TO USE YOUR DESKTOP computer to make the connection. Go to the "Settings" of your wireless device and wait for it to recognize your router name plus a suffix ___EXT. When that appears, choose that wifi connection. You will be asked for the same password you use on your real router. Enter that password.3) You will be taken to a website for setting up the extender. If you try to access this website from your DESKTOP computer, you'll get an error message. Once you get to this website, the instructions in the package will start to make sense.4) When you've finished the set up, unplug the extender and take it to the location where you want to boost the wireless connectivity. Again, using your mobile device (or other computer), use the "Settings" menu to find the widi connection. Choose the network connection with your wireless name PLUS the ___EXT suffix. The password will be the same as your regular wifi network. The devices in proximity to the extender will receive a better wifi signal. I think the device is fine, but the instructions were not very well done. I think it would be helpful if the writers had made it clear that you need to use a MOBILE device (not just a computer, tablet, etc.) to set this up. In other words, you cannot set this up (at least not that I was able to discover) with your regular desktop computer. With an iPad or Kindle Fire, the process is very easy and provides decent boosted wifi. I gave this a the three-star because this installation process could have been so much clearer with more precise instructions or even a quick little video.UPDATE: Well, we just had to upgrade our router/gateway. I am sorry to say that this extender was just as bothersome to set up using the reset as before. My instructions still worked BUT you cannot do this on an iPhone. For some reason even after you enter the correct router password, the latest iPhone OS will not let you access the continue button. I was able to set this up using my Kindle Fire HDX. I have since purchased this router: MSRM US750 750M Dual Band Wi-Fi Range Extender Wireless WiFi Repeater With Dual External Antennas and 360 Degree WiFi Covering, which was much simpler to set up and seems to be providing the same level of access. (I did use an iPhone to set it up.) I tested both extenders using a dead spot/download speed app, and they appear to work about the same. (There also are less expensive versions of this MSRM router that others say work well.) So, I've turned off my Netgear router...for now, but am keeping it as a back-up.

Not the best Range Extender I have purchased. I would look at others. I purchased it because it was on sale. Setup wasnt that difficult but it has limited range compared to others. Here is an update for you. Their customer relations was really unhappy with my previous 3 star review. So they sent me their Motorau N300 wireless-N unit. This unit actual worked well. Still super awkward setup. People I do IT work for a living and typically find wireless adaptors simple to setup. 4 stars for their customer relations but this product is not worth it. Buy their N300 wireless if your going to stick with these folks. Honestly I would pay more and get an Amped Repeater if your looking for a repeater.

I APPRECIATED BILL'S REVIEW AS IT HELPED ME BIG TIME! I purchased this after my edimax wifi extender cube broke x 5. Yes I purchased it 5 separate times and didn't bother sending it in for replacement because of the low cost, BUT ATLEAST I WAS ABLE TO SPEAK TO A LIVE PERSON THERE THIS PRODUCT HAS NO CONTACT INFORMATION ON THE BOX AND OR ON THE WEBSITE.. VERY FRUSTRATING. AFTER READING BILL'S REVIEW I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET IT SET UP, CAN'T SAY YET HOW IT WORKS YET BUT I FIND IT INTERESTING THAT NO WHERE ON THE BOX OR INSTRUCTIONS CAN YOU FIND A SUPPORT PHONE NUMBER OR A MANUFACTURERS NAME ASIDE FROM IT BEING MADE IN CHINA...BUYER BEWARE IF THE DEVICE GOES DEFECTIVE I WILL NOT BE PURCHASING ANOTHER ONE..

I have tried every method possible to get this device to work. The instructions were horribly written and I couldn't see the example on the instruction page, because it was blurred. I took a break and just tried it again......I want to use it as an extender, so I go through the process fine until I get to the part where my computer is suppose to reboot. Nothing happens. Anybody have any suggestions?Tonight, I read another customer's review at which time I learned he posted the instructions, using his Kindle instead of a PC. His instructions were so easy to follow and now I have wi fi throughout my home.I'm changing my review to a "3" now.
Hope you got some time on your hands...

An okay product for the price. The initial configuration took a lot longer than I would have liked. Not very easy to use and super sloooooooow! But once configured they do the trick. The range is okay, but not the best. While it's not fair to compare it to other, more expensive products--it's performance through walls isn't the best. But if you are just trying to snag that last corner of your house which lacks wi-fi and you have some patience to do some installation, this isn't a bad product to pick-up.
Instructions: easier said than done; a tech friend came over configured it quickly
November 15, 2015
At first it was difficult for me to configure this WiFi repeater. I thought I was computer savvy, but this challenged my prowess. So I communicated with the seller and he gave me some suggestions. I called a local computer tech that got the mini WiFi working quickly. I passed some of this information onto the seller about how he could improve the instructions. The unit works very well now and my neighbor can connect to the Wireless-N's network signal from 75 feet away.
UPDATE
October 30, 2015
I like it, it works well and is pretty easy to set up.I am currently using it as an extender/ booster (my router is in the basement) and it does a good jobBoosts the signal through one wall out to the porch for streaming movies.Wish it was a little stronger, but for the price you cant beat it. I will probably order one more for the bedroom.UPDATE: Initially I liked it a lot, extended my wifi out to my patio outside with no issues. I have purchased a new router and cant get it to register with the new router. I cant figure it out, and don't have the paperwork anymore. good luck

I usually have good luck with Netgear stuff.. but not this time
November 9, 2017
I'm an IT tech guy (20+) years. I purchased two of these. One for me and one for a customer. The instructions were not exactly straight forward but I did figure it out. In both cases the wi-fi signal actually dropped mps considerably. When I removed them, the signal, while not what I wanted was actually stronger. I am aware of how the structure of a house and distance can affect these things and I accounted for that possibility by moving them around, closer to the wifi router for example. Results were disappointing. If I could send them back and try something different, I would.

October 6, 2017
This is the sort of product that would expect to work flawlessly but it does not. There are a few problems with this sort of device: 1) I have a gigabit connection at my place with two bands 2.4GHz and 5GHz. This thing would not connect and extend the 5GHz band, which delivers faster internet speed than the other, Visited the website, spoke with a representative but no matter what I did, it would not connect to the 5GHz. It would show the 5GHz SSID but would not connect to it. 2) the base speed, without a wifi extender on the 2.4GHz is around 220 Mbps with the extender 6Mbps 0_o, Did not make sense to me why there was such a huge drop I would have expected a drop of around 50% but not so much. Probably better off with a separate router if speed is an issue for you.
Well another pig in a poke

I've purchased Netgear items like the over the years and each time I convinced myself that technology has advanced to remedy all the old issues. Alas, not so again. This thing kinda works. Sorta !It an open system. That means NO security. Zero. They claim you can link it to your existing and get it that way, but it's a lie.Set up is supposed to be automatic.I spent 4 hours screwin with it. Had to contact them several times.Had to register it before it would link then had to make an account. Then it took several hours more. They say you can rename it to match your system. Not so. It keeps it's name. You make another to match yours. Both are open. And your existing system looses power because this steals it from your existing. It's a huge waste.
Poor Customer Service; bad support procedure
September 30, 2017
The connectivity did improve with the use of the WIFI booster (extender), however the setup instructions are poor at best. I was able to get mine connected and set up properly but it's a good thing I understand how networks/routers are set up or I would have been lost. My sister also purchased one and was unable to get her working. So, she called Netgear support and after the technician followed the setup instructions and was unable to complete the set up, he tried to sell her firewall software. When she refused to purchase the software, he ended the call. That is VERY POOR customer service and extremely bad support procedure. That's the reason for the 2 stars. If you can do the setup that's good, but don't expect assistance from Netgear support.
Invest more in a better device or different manufacturer
July 13, 2017
It's ok when it works. My setup was kinda rough as I had to reset(to factory default) the device about 5 to 6 times before it finally with through all the steps without messing up somewhere along the way. Now that it's up and running it often has to be turned off and on again to regain connection even though it's well within range of the router. Works great when it actually works but what can you expect out of a $30 range booster I guess. On the fence buyers should consider spending more on a better built device.
weak signal even at short distance form main unit.
July 10, 2017
This thing just doesn't send out a strong enough single and will loose my connection on occasion. I only have it about 25 feet from my main unit so not sure why this would not work properly. Would not by again based on issue.

February 10, 2016
Very complicated to setup the instructions provided were confusing also. Bought a different product and it works great, easy setup.
Too many bugs in firmware.
February 7, 2016
This is WiFi device has the worst firmware of any of the dozen or so routers I have set up as a LAN administrator. Basically, you have to expect to factory reset the device and implement your updates when you reconfigure the router. I have had some success re-accessing it when I've made minimal changes to the setup default, but as soon as I try to use it as an AP, forget it.The only reason I gave it two stars and not one, is their tech support emailed me promptly after I contacted them. They didn't seem to understand my issue and I didn't have the time to elaborate, so I dropped it. However, their website clearly addresses my problem:"Q: I wanna go back to change the setting of Motoraux after setting it up, but I fail to access the login page.A: Please note that after you’ve successfully set up Motoraux, the IP address is unable to access unless you do the reset and set it up again. Then you can change the setting during your setup." [...]Another issue I had with the device is when I configured the LAN to use 192.168.0.xxx, it would use 1992.168.1.xxx. Other than horrendous setup issues, the WiFi has a good signal and I have resolved myself to use the "Factory Reset" option for changing the settings.Their support site does not have any firmware updates, perhaps they will come out with fixes.
Disappointed
January 5, 2016
This requires an outlet to plug the device into and then plug it into my modem. I don't have a wall outlet close enough to use this this. Disappointed.

Seems to work well as a signal repeater, but the instructions are so bad I can't give it a good review. Just throw the instructions away when you get this device and look online.
Cannot set up one of them
December 4, 2015
Bought 2, first one setup pretty easily. The second one will not accept the username and password. I tried a factory reset several times to no avail. Unplugged for a while and still won't allow the username/password combination user user. Also this one shows up as RTL 11nAp as the other shows up as Wireless-N as default names. I guess different manufacturers or firmware. Both were bought at the same time and are the exact same model. I guess you get what you pay for. i also tried the WPS button and it will not connect that way either.

Extremely spotty performance with perfect signal.
November 6, 2017
Giving it a full star is a bit of an oversell. First off, the instruction manual they sent with the Wi-Fi extender was in French with no English instructions to be found. Second, the Wi-Fi speed was cut to about 1/4th of my router's typical mps. This is WHILE the extender itself shows it having a "perfect signal" with a solid green light. At this point I thought, "okay, fine. All I want it for is to browse the web from different parts of the room. So I guess I can live with it."About an hour into use, the wifi extender cuts out every thirty seconds for an entire minute. This has continued from the beginning of my usage until the time of writing this article, which has been roughly six hours. I've tried restarting it, reconnecting it, rebooting the modem, the router, hardwiring it to the router, and rebooting the computers and devices I've connected. Nothing changes. If anything, the amount of time the extender can't seem to get a signal has only increased. This is while all green lights are on and solid on the device, indicating that it SHOULD be working properly. This is the first time I've written an Amazon review, because generally, I'm easy to please. If a product does its job, even if the job is subpar, I don't mind. But in this case, the Netgear N300 wifi extender isn't even doing a "subpar" job. It does "subpar" around one-third of the time, and absolutely nothing the other 2/3rds. I haven't tried any other wifi extenders yet, but I can't imagine them being this useless. Spare yourself the trouble and look elsewhere if you need a better connection.Oh, and heaven forbid you try to use it with Steamlink. If you enjoy 1<FPS in games or are just into wifi masochism, this product is for you. Otherwise, steer clear.
Would give 0 stars if possible.
October 18, 2017
This was purchased for my smart thermostat as the wifi signal to the dining room is slightly lower than the manufacture wanted.I set this unit up directly next to the thermostat and at first seemed perfect. It is set up as instructions recommend using an EXT for my network. Strong 98-100% signal and good connectivity to the vendor server. However I have recently noticed my thermostat just disconnects from the internet. The latest gots on the extender show connected but the thermotstat has no connection. Try to reconnect... nothing.Pull the extender from the wall, plug back in all good for a week or so. This has happened twice now, the unit is junk and doesn't fit my needs.Anyone who gives it perfect railings is either lying or doesn't realize it's not working
Not a simple matter to get running.
October 13, 2017
Works, but needed help getting it going. In my case, the the "quick start" did not work. WPS button never achieved connection. The link for support repeatedly gave a DNS error which brought up my internet providers search page and creates a chat box which I accessed. The chat bot had me call a support number - which in my case was an Indian service company - Soft Tree. Very hard to understand the tech because of the accent. They ended up fixing the problem, which was a device address conflict - but I ended up paying them $149.99 for this. It was sold as a one year tech support service contract. The Netgear device creates an extended "named network" which is your network name with EXT on the end. If I knew this in advance I would never have bought the extender.
Thank you Amazon
October 7, 2017
Amazon has wonderful customer support and is a good reason to buy with confidence. Installed this unit and it made a little bit of a difference but just enough to not bother returning. Then I took it with me out of town and the unit self destructed. Everything seemed OK, green lights on after booting up but no connection. Called the manufacturer whose customer service is in India. After telling the gentleman on the phone that I have a MacBook he said I could not connect without him. The polite gentleman seemed inexperienced and was puzzled about the standard installation procedure. He asked for control of my computer which I gave to him and after a short time online with him he started repeating that he could not move my curser. I turned the phone recorder on at that point. He sounded not normal and I was worried about what access he had to my computer. Over and over again he could not figure things out and then went silent. After a long time of silence I asked if he was still there. He started attacking saying why are you in a hurry. Are you in a hurry. You are in too much of a hurry. Call someone else to fix this. He was obviously frustrated at his inability to figure out what the problem was and looking for an excuse to walk away. then he started repeating that he could not move my curser. I asked for his boss and was put on hold. After a while I hung up and called back and oddly got another guy who identified himself as a secretary type of phone operator because all lines were busy and that he would connect me when someone became available. Then he connected me to the same guy who could not figure things out. Really weird. Then while on the line with the first guy again I got a call waiting signal and flashed it and it was a new guy in India and seemingly in the first guys group, a friend of the incompetent guy. All on my recorded line. He told me that the first confused guy said that this could be fixed if I give them $60 per hour. I have that on a recording that was turned on when things got weird. I was worried about who had control of my computer. I repeated that he wanted me to pay $60 per hour to trouble shoot for a device that cost less than $30. He said yes, the only way to get it working . He went on to say that the first guy (who was scratching his head ) had diagnosed the problem as no available as DNS ports and a highly skilled technician was required for $60 per hour. But the first guy never even got started with diagnosing the problem. Finally I hung up. Thank you Amazon for the return label.
Cant deliver high bandwidth
September 30, 2017
Bought after seeing the thousands of good reviews. I get 100Mbps download/5Mbps upload from my internet provider, as proven using speed tests right next to the modem/router. I wanted an extender that I could conveniently place to catch the signal about 30ft from the modem/router and extend it 30-40 ft to the rooms upstairs. I verified that I was getting an 80-90Mbps signal from the modem/router right next to where I placed the extender. However, I found that upstairs, even after using the extender, I could never get a signal more than 15-20Mbps, with or without the extender. Eventually, I simply put the extender right next to the router, and finally found that even then(!!) I couldnt get more than 15-20Mbps, but without the extender I was getting an easy 80-90Mbps. This thing is just not built for high bandwidth, IMHO. If your requirement is similar, hopefully this review is useful to you. I'm probably going to end up with mesh wifi even though its more expensive.

Pure crap, too light to even be used as a paperweight
November 27, 2016
I concur with the other reviewer "this is a piece of junk, and most of the positive reviews are complete BS--sponsored or promoted." Same issues as other 1 star reviews: I bought this last year (it worked ok) and now it has stopped working; you can't reset it (per their instructions) and the wi-fi (light not on) won't work, can't access it via the LAN cable, nothing. It sleeps with the fishes, it is dead to me, throwing it out in the morning. You might as well burn your money if you're going to buy this piece of crap. The Motoraux website is pretty comical too.
Bad all around.
January 18, 2016
I was getting a poor Wi-Fi signal in the far rooms of my house, so I decided to give this device a try. It was a mistake. This thing does not work well. I set it up correctly, then did it again because I figured I must have done something wrong. My signals were not boosted in the least. Nothing was better, everything was worse. It slowed down my connections and was just not useful. On top of that, the instructions are hard to understand and were clearly not written by someone who speaks English well. The company also does not have good support. You should not get this product. If you're wavering and unsure, don't buy it. Certainly don't buy it if you don't already know how to set up a router or an access point, because the instructions are bad enough that you will have to rely on your existing knowledge to figure it out. Not recommended.
Beware! Do yourself a favor and READ all the REVIEWS before placing an order on this @&$ device! Its annoyingly FRUSTRATING! 0*

From a hectic setup at first to working conditions for about a month, then mysteriously pretends to run, yet my various devices cant connect to it even thought theyre all set within mac filtering and login credentials, both on the extender and wifi devices. Theyll try and skip and or reboot connecting process. What Ive noticed is that my computer kept waking up from sleep while I had this extender plugged in the wall and running along with my network yet not being able to connect to it.The most funny fact with this device is the range. I bought this hoping to be made by different standards than here in america. Comes out this is very weak extender when it comes to wifi signal broadcasting. My main wifi source is about 10 yards away from this. Picks the signal good, and from its location 10 yards away from the wifi source, walking outdoors, the main wifi source has merely 2dB lesser signal strength than this cheap pathetic "repeater" thats being 10 yards closer to me. Isnt that odd? But as first mentioned, I have a security concerns about using this and actually feel more relieved ever since Unplugged it off the wall. Oh, not to mention physical aspect, the wall socket adapter that can be taken out. It did snapped off on me once I twisted the unit while unplugging. Adapter was left in wall socket and taking it out was quite scary as I didnt want to get electrocuted. Yes, 110V isnt 220V but still. It just says all about this product by all means not being recommended. Despite seeing mixed reviews I gave it a chance and bought it cheap (about 30 bucks or so, after months of having it and two times setting it up feeling im solving mysterious puzzles due to its retarded GUI, I wish I didn't try to be so cheap and save money on this kind of device and went with brand and actual "quality" product instead.
It had great instructions and worked
November 13, 2015
Instructions were impossible to read. I suspect the positive reviews were bogus (that's what Fakespot said). Could not get it to connect to my router, but maybe that's because I couldn't read the instructions (printed with light blue ink). Returned to Amazon and bought a namebrand for about the same price. It had great instructions and worked.

November 5, 2015
I would say I'm pretty tech savvy and I could not get this range extender to work. I wasted an hour trying to read through pages of instructions (there is only one page but there are some 12 panels written in 6 or 8 size font). Moreover, there is no tech support. I couldn't even find their website.
