Works great
November 28, 2015
The product after the fact gets five stars. The setup instructions gets ZERO. I tried to setup the Wi-Fi range extender as suggested in the attached pamphlet, but it did not work. I was ready to return the product, but with Thanksgiving on the way I did not get a chance. Recently I received an e-mail from Yan Hua (the Amazon seller) containing a revised, a bit more detailed instructions. I followed it, but again the setup failed. As I was doing a screen capturing of where the setup went wrong to e-mail back to Yan Hua, I noticed that the pop up window that asked for the extender's passcode (which is on the label on the device) also had a clickable text/link saying "I do not want to configure, just want to connect to it". Before I blindly entered the asked for passcode, and could not get to the setup IP 192.168.10.253 configuration screen. So I reset the extender as in the e-mail and started all over, and clicked the "I do not want to configure, just want to connect to it" link. After this, everything went as described in the e-mail. My router is in the basement, and before on the second floor I would have two bar signal. I placed the extender on the first floor, and now I have the maximum five bar signal. Did not notice any reduction in speed.I do recommend the product, it works great once it is set up as a repeater. Patience, endurance and a bit of common sense helps a lot.
Exactly What I Needed
November 12, 2015
The product is exactly as advertised and was shipped promptly. It is very fairly priced. A bargain actually. This device is exactly what I needed. It operates in 5 modes, and I needed the repeater mode so that I could extend my ISP WiFi's reach outside my house and into my back and side yards. This device does that. My ISP's WiFi speed at the location where I plugged in the Motoraux is ~16 Mbps. But outdoors my ISP's router signal strength falls so low that my phone and iPad would switch over to LTE, and I'd start chewing up my cellular data package. Now I get ~16 Mbps outdoors. I can stream audio and video without concern. No device can relay data faster than it gets data, so this device is optimal in performance for me.You may notice that other users have questions about how to set up the device. I did, too. Actually I'd got it set up correctly, but got a message from the installation software that seemed to say I had a problem. I wrote a message to the seller on my order page and sent it off in the afternoon. The next morning I had a comprehensive response to my message. I believe the seller's offices are in Asia and I'm in California, so a 12-hour turn-around is lightning fast. The seller obviously places a lot emphasis on customer satisfaction, and both his concern and his capability to help have satisfied me.Highly recommeded.
Great product!
November 10, 2015
A great little product! The product documentation is complete, although at your first look you might be puzzled and perhaps overwhelmed. Yes, the English is a little strange, but that is to be expected when it's written by a non-native writer. All the information that's needed is there, even though the screenshots are tiny and don't have high enough color contrast to read the values in the fields.I am using this device as a repeater to strengthen our WiFi signal downstairs, as our router is upstairs. I just plugged it into a wall socket, and connected to the "Wireless-N" network on a laptop. Opened the console in a browser as shown in the instructions, logged in with the default admin username and password, then selected "Repeater Wizard" from the block. Then, you just have to select the name of your WiFi network, the one you want to extend, click "Save & Apply* and wait. After a few seconds, the unit resets, and you then can re-connect to your original WiFi network. This was much easier to set up than I had thought, and it has made a big difference in the stability and strength of our signal throughout the downstairs of the house. Very pleased with this product.
Excellent As Repeate. Instructions Could Be Difficult For Newbies. Detailed Repeater Setup Below. Takes Time To Ship From China
November 6, 2015
Please note this ships from China so the shipping does take a while (weeks to a month). I am using this device in "Repeater" mode. Repeater mode means that the device will simply extend or boost an existing wireless network. This is best if you already have wifi working in your home but the signal is weak in some areas or you'd like a stronger signal further away. It took me about 3 minutes to set up but while reading the provided instructions I understand how it could be a bit confusing so here are some simplified steps for setting it up via repeater mode (These steps are ONLY for setting up via Repeater mode which I believe is what most people would be using this device for):1) Plug the device into a wall outlet near a computer or laptop that has an ethernet connection (CAT5).2) Plug a CAT-5 cable (a short CAT-5 cable is provided in the package) into the port labeled "LAN" on the device and then plug the other end into your computer or laptop.3) On your computer or laptop launch a web browser of your choice (Internet Explore, Chrome, Firefox et. al.)4) In the address bar where you would normal type a url, instead type: http://192.168.10.253 and then press [ENTER]5) You should now see a green page asking for login. Enter the default username which is "admin" and the default password which is "admin" and click "Submit" to login.6) You should now see a page with a blue square up top displaying "wizards". Click the link that says "Repeater"7) On the next screen select your current wifi network from the list of available wifi access points. Enter in the password for your current wifi network and if you want, rename the SSID for the device. For example it defaults to "Wireless-N" but I simply renamed mine to my same WiFi name and added "-Repeater" so I could easily identify the repeater access point. For example if your current WiFi SSID is "PatriotsAreCheaters" then you could rename the SSID for the device to "PatriotsAreCheaters-Repeater" Then simply submit the form and wait while the device installs the settings and reboots. Once you don't see anything and it's just a blank page that seems to be trying to reload you are probably all set.8) Now disconnect the CAT-5 cable, unplug the device from the wall and move it. Plug it into an outlet that is centrally located in the home (higher up seems better so if you are in a 2-story home choose an outlet on the 2nd floor).9) After the device boots up grab your phone or other wifi device and go into your wifi settings like you normally would to connect to a wifi network at a coffee shop. You should now see the new device SSID listed. It will be named whatever you named it in step 7. Default is "Wireless N" I believe if you did not rename it. Select it to connect and you will be prompted for a password. Enter in the SAME password for your original home wifi. You should be connected and notice a much stronger wifi signal. That's it! I hope this helps someone. It did take a long time to arrive as it shipped from China but the device does work well as a repeater and is much less expensive than others.
you will be very pleased with the range of this thing
November 1, 2015
This range extender works really well. The instructions are awful, but I'll put some tips here that will help de-code them. First, make sure your internet is working and ignore steps 1-4. Next, plug the range extender into a socket that is very close to your computer. Take an Ethernet cord from the extender to your computer. You'll need to stay connected to your existing network, then type in the IP address they have provided into the address box. Type in username and password, then go to the "repeater" (if you want to extend the range of your wifi) feature. If your existing network is secure, you'll type the password in the field that says "key". Voila, you are done. Once you do this, you will be very pleased with the range of this thing.
Does what it is supposed to. I like
October 26, 2015
Im not sure of all the features of this extender, I only wanted to extend the range of my home wifi out into the garage. It will do that. The instruction sheet is very small and hard to read (for older people like me). I emailed the vendor and they very patiently went over the process with me. Thanks to their kind reply and instructions, I was able to extend the wifi signal to my garage so I can do some music streaming. Note that this will not boost the internet speed. That will remain the same as it is with your primary internet router. This only extends the signal into other parts of your house.PROS: Extends your existing wifi to another part of your homeFairly easy to set up. After I got more instructions, it took about 15 minutes (mostly reading time)It plugs right in to your power source and the plug in can change directions so you can mount it horizontal or verticalIt is password protected so no one can leach off of itCONS: You will have to choose the new network when you are using this extender vs. your primary wifi source. Not a big deal to me, but you can't just walk from one room to another. At least thats how it is for me, you may want to clarify that.I recommend this Range Extender if you need your wifi to go a little further into your house or possibly out into the yard.

Great - easy install - fast and more stable connection vs wifi
September 18, 2017
I had some crazy crappy wifi - I wanted a wired connection for video games; I however didn't want to run / drop a cat cable from room to room - This is working awesome. I have 300mb service from COX - if I connect my computer directly to my modem I get the full 300mb ..I set this up easily - plug and play, router first - then other end - click pair on the router side then click the pair button on the other end - they find each other like magic (through your freaking AC wiring in your house) .. I now get 30-40mb down (was getting 20 with bad ping on wifi) the 30-40mb is a real 30-40mb and a very steady respectable 50ms ping..I expect it to work a little be better when my new router comes in and has better throughput on the ethernet side.Great buy - I got the 200mb version
Easy way to network all the stuff in my office back to a hard wired connection in my router. Push button setup!
June 10, 2017
I am using these to establish a hard-wired connection between my gear in my office and my master bedroom closet, where my wifi router is located. I plugged one into the wall in the office, connected it to an 8 port switch with a network cable, plugged the other one in the master bedroom closet and connected it to the router, pressed the connect button on each, and voila! I had a stable network connection between all the devices in my office that I plugged into the 8 port switch. This kit includes two network cables, so bravo for that. The only reason I would spend more would be on a faster version - my downstream is limited to about 40mbps with these while my router actually supports 200mbps. This doesn't functionally affect me, since I just stream video and audio and browse the web in my office, but TP-Link has faster versions (av300, etc.) that will accommodate people who are gaming or need more bandwidth in another room.
Worth your consideration
May 31, 2017
Definitely helped my situation. Our ISP bills us for 75 Mbps which is possible if wired to the router but my room is across the house. Over wifi I get around 25-30 Mbps with a rare to semi-occasional drop in connection. This is terrible whenever I'm playing a game as it will be a stable connection followed by lag spikes that a lot of times will kick me from whatever I'm playing. I got tired of this but i'm lazy enough to not want to route Ethernet through the attic just for my computer. Bought this with the confidence of free returns but I absolutely love it now. On speed tests I've gotten a range of 40-66 Mbps which is way better than what I was dealing with before and now my ping is always hovering around 40 making games as smooth as can be. Maybe it was placebo but choosing which outlet I used seemed to affect performance as it had less along it's route. I also felt like having things plugged into the outlets that were along the path also affected it. As for house layout this is a ranch house and the placements of the router and my powerline are basically diagonally across the rectangle floor plan so be cautious if in a multi-storied home I guess
Coolio

Cool device!I "hard wired" my PS4 using this cause I was feeling too lazy and did not want to run cat5 through my walls. Works way better than wireless. I get an average of 25mbps down with this, so you wont be getting your full speed like you would with cat5.Still a great solution for renters or anyone trying to get faster speeds to a device far from the router
As good as a direct connection to your router! Also Great for gaming! (See attached image for results)
February 28, 2016
I do a lot of IT work and have a lot of friends that are in the same field but I have never encountered these adapters before this point. I was extremely skeptical of the technology and bought this adapter with very low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it works flawlessly!I have taken 4 speed tests (via internetspeedtest.com) for each type of connection (direct Ethernet connection, WiFi, Powerline) and have placed the average results below. I found that even though I have my Powerline adapter 3 floors below where my router is connected it functions as if my computer is directly connected to the router. If you are a gamer and you have your rig far from your router this would be a great product for you.Installation:You just simply plug it in and it works there is no software or any special gestures in setting it up.I've noticed that this product has a small ~10% or less of people that are reviewing it poorly. I've read these reviews and have found that either the person doesn't know what they're doing or has faulty wiring within their house. Below I've listed 2 criteria to keep in mind when buying this adapter which should ensure that the product works for you.Criteria to keep in mind:- When buying a product like this you have to make sure that your house's electrical wiring meets the standard of use - if your house was built prior to the 2000's this product may not work very well.- Also the distance between the two adapters should not exceed 1,000 feet for optimal performance. Unless you live in a mansion I don't see this being a problem. If neither of these things are a problem for you then I would recommend this product. I'm planning on installing a number of these for small businesses and a few friends in the near future. I'll post results for those installations and the specific scenarios to give you guys a better idea of whether or not your house is suited for Powerline. Thanks for reading! :)
READ THIS FOR HOME SECURITY DVR
March 28, 2015
After some research I purchased this product over the Netgear WiFi extender due to having multiple wireless devices already on my network and to have a more "hard wired" wireless approach. I received the adapters quickly with prime. The setup was so easy I had to run to make this review. I unboxed and although the reviews and instructions say not to plug into a power strip I did anyway and on both sides. The circuit where my Swann DVR is located is not on the same circuit. The DVR is clear on the other side of my 4 bedroom single story house. All I did was plug in the adapters, plug in the Cat5 cables, power on the DVR and the router, Push the two link buttons (not at the same time) on the adapters and I was streaming live video on my android phone. Awesome! I would've given this product more than 5 stars. If this review helped you please vote my review.UPDATE: 5/5/16 STILL WORKING LIKE A CHAMP!!UPDATE: 9/19/17 STILL WORKING HARD!!

Lots of Options means Lots of Understanding..
January 17, 2016
Lots of options means lots of understanding..I want to say that at first I was highly disappointed, BUT.. after talking with Motoraux, they were extremely helpful in resolving the issues I identified in my original perception of this product. I would like to share my positive experience and reasons why you should consider this product for purchase. For this review I want to be clear that I've only tested and utilized the "Repeater Mode" option and therefore I'll focus on this topic ONLY.Its important that going into a product like this, you have an understanding of what you need up front. Most people, including myself looked at my dead spots in the house as needed a Wifi extender, right? The truth is, Wi-Fi extenders/repeaters come in a number of flavors and have many caveats to consider when shopping.Lets educate.. This is a 30,000 ft overview of Wi-Fi extenders/repeaters and by no means is exhaustive. In a nutshell, Wi-Fi repeaters or extenders are used to extend the coverage area of your Wi-Fi network.- Repeater is a wireless network device that repeats wireless signals to extend range without being connected with cable to either your router/modem, or your clients. Many routers/access points can be configured in "repeater" mode.- Extender has the same functionality as a repeater. Extenders are usually devices that only do repeating, and can't be set in any other mode.In one example your Wi-Fi network is called, "MyWifi-1"... A repeater captures the signal of MyWifi-1 and is configured to re-transmit it under a new name, for example, "MyWi-Fi-2". This creates two points to access the same Wi-Fi network.*** There are many discussions out there that detail Wi-Fi channel configurations, SSID's usage and so forth. As there are so many different models of routers and repeaters, it is impossible to encompass every variation. Just know with any of these, some technical insight is required to get it to run at the best possible rates. Also, some higher-end repeaters that participate within the same Wi-Fi network name can lead to the throughput being cut in half for devices connecting to it and/or cross into what is called an "Access Point" which is usually a better option if you can run a wire.As an FYI, Access point are device connected with cable (Cat5) to your main router/modem/internet, and serve clients wirelessly. The Motoraux provides support for AP mode.So ultimately, there are tons of pro's and con's to everything, so lets reel this back in as to what you get from this device. This Motoraux Repeater DOES require you to name this repeater mode with it's own unique name, such as, "My-Wi-Fi-2", though it does in fact participate on the existing Wi-Fi network and therefore normal operations such as printing and so forth are not affected. In today's world of technology adding a new wi-fi spot is NOT a big deal in my opinion and as long as you have both setup in your device list, your primary Wi-Fi and now this repeated Wi-Fi, life is pretty good. Now with the technology basics explained, lets move on.I have another brand of Wi-Fi extender and to-date have not been pleased with it's operation which is what prompted me to purchase this one. The main reason was in fact that the throughput was cut in half, maybe more, but it did use the same Wi-Fi SSID, "MyWi-Fi-1". My daughter constantly complained over being disconnected as well I ended up getting hit with data overages from the cell phone company in lue of her not paying attention to how she was connected. 1 overage bill was enough to motivate me to seek another solution.Device Configuration:Setup of this device took about 5 minutes. The trick to getting up and running quickly is as follows,- Plug the device in to power and wait about a minute or two.- Use an iPad or Android tablet to find this devices network, (Wireless-N)- Log in and choose "Repeater Mode".- Next, select your 2.4g Wi-Fi network, (5g not supported)- Enter your Wi-Fi password.- Next, you MUST create a unique name for this device, IE: "MyWifi-r". Ideally just append a "-r" to the end of your current Wi-Fi name.- Click done.At this point, the repeater will reboot and become active on your Wi-Fi network. If you scan for it, you'll now see this device available to connect too. Simply add it to your wifi's using the same PW as your regular Wi-Fi and you're good to go.So How Does it Work?I was actually pleased to see that this nearly matched my primary Wi-Fi speed in comparison to my last extender device which cut the throughput down by up to 80%.I tested the Motoraux from both my phones, my iPads as well my TV's. In fact that was one of my challenges because the original slow extender would cause buffering on my 75" TV using Amazon fire stick and you never would know if a device was flip-flopping from the primary Wi-Fi to the extender under the same SSID name. The Motoraux device on the other hand has proven in the last week or two of testing to be much stronger and reliable than the other unit as well throughput is pretty comparable to my primary WiFi. .So why did I not give it 5 stars?Since amazon only gives 1,2,3,4,5 stars, I want to note this is probably a 4.25 rating and here's why.As I mentioned in the education section of this review, not only higher end devices can encapsulate your existing Wi-Fi name, but administration is still possible. Once I configured this device in Repeater Mode, ability to administer it appears to have been removed. I can only assume this is a software/firmware limitation or similar.I am hopeful they will release updated software that enables you to administer this device from whatever mode you are in.Currently, if you want to reconfigure it or simply administratively access it, after setting it up as a Repeater, you have to factory reset it by putting a pin in the side for up to 10 seconds. I have reached out to customer support in regards to this and are awaiting their feedback. In conclusion, this Motoraux works well in Repeater Mode and would recommend it based on price point as well ability to maintain the speed of my network and devices connecting to it. I've included pics from my network performance tests and overall are reasonably satisfied with the results in Repeater Mode.Moving forward, I do intend to test the AP functions of this device and will modify this review with the results in time.
Works great, but a bit difficult to set up
December 9, 2015
I really wish I could give the product 5 stars, but I cannot. The documentation is unclear and further to that it is written in a very small font. The net is that it (the documentation) is almost unusable. However, the sellers have recognized this issue and emailed me instructions for installing the unit in my network. They were also very responsive to my questions with the few problems I encountered.I would highly recommend installing the unit using the reset method.- Use a toothpick or paperclip and press the reset until the WPS light becomes solid; wait for about 3 seconds and release- The WPS light will go out and the WLAN LED light will flash- At this point, the unit is reset. You can then easily logon onto the unit with the following IP address: 192.168.10.253- I would use your phone (iPhone or Android) during the installation to prevent router disallowing certain MAC addresses- With your phone, type 192.168.10.253 in Safari / Chrome / your preferred browser- The Motoraux UI will come up; select "Repeater;" then, select the SSID of the network you want to connect to (this is the same SSID of your home network); the system will then ask you for a key -- this is the same password / key for your home network's router- Press Save and Reboot- Connect your Phone to Wireless-N SSID....you will be all set- Then connect other devices to Wireless-N ... use the same WPA2 key for your home network's routerAll in all, a bit of a pain to set up but the unit works great. If anyone needs any assistance with the Motoraux, please email me.
Difficult set up, but once you get it working, does a great job.
October 18, 2015
Anyone that gets this device, please know that in order for it to work as a wireless extender, you need to set up the REPEATER mode. Once you figure that out, and work your way through the instructions, it makes things much better for wireless internet range. I wish there was a way to make the instructions clearer, but its mostly translation issues and my own lack of knowledge on how repeater devices work.

July 20, 2017
I live in an average 2 story home and my modem/wireless router is downstairs in the wife's office. There was only like 3 options that I can think of which is one run cables through walls and stuff, uhhh, no way........has anybody ever tried to patch walls and coloring? 2nd get repeaters, which really won't work in my case because there's no plug in the stairwell, so I have to use these Powerline Adapters. I have to say that my internet was dropping a lot and now with these powerline adapters it significantly reduces the internet drops. TP link wins again for me and I highly recommend these if your internet is dropping a lot due to distance and walls/structure.
Works for me....
June 21, 2017
I didn't exactly have the best case results that other reviewers have but this did the job of getting me internet to the far reaches of my house. We have a U shaped house with the router in 1 leg of the U. We had been using a Wireless access point to try to get internet from one side of the house to the other, through 2 double pain Glass sliders and across the pool about 60 feet, it was working but not well enough for reliable Streaming of video to the TV. So I bought the TP-Link AV500 to try getting better internet to the TV. The signal into the house is 150mbs on Fiber. The results were as follows at the Top of the U, I am getting 60mbs coming down the other side of the U it falls to 25mbs by the time it gets to the end. Well, 25mbs seems to be fine for Streaming, much better then trying to get a wireless signal across the U.
Great Device Can Fix Common Issues
May 25, 2017
I bought this when I started to have Wifi problems with my Xbox One S. This pretty much fixed all of the problems I was having! It was ridiculously easy to set up, and it works rather well. Sometimes when I start my Xbox, however, it does not always connect to the Internet, I think this could either be because of the devices or Xbox OS. But either way, my Xbox is now hardwired without me having to worry about running an Ethernet wire through the wall!If you are in a place where getting wifi isn't possible, you don't have a wifi device, or the wifi range is not good at all, then this would be a great option for you. Just keep in mind that you need to have an open plugin the wall so you can plug this into it as it si not recommended to be plugged into a power strip/surge protector.
"Good enough" speed up of my home office access speed
January 3, 2016
I own an L-shaped house, where my home office is at the far end of one wing separated from the main Wi-Fi router (b+g+n) by 2 brick walls. Up until now, I have overcome this using a Wi-Fi extender (b+g+n) at the corner of the "L", and have typically enjoyed roughly 10 Mbit/s speeds up and down. For comparison, the home computer connected via Cat5 to the router gets 85 Mbit/s down and 24 Mbit/s up, respectably close to the Internet speeds I pay for. After hooking up these TP-Link units, my new home office speed is 38 Mbit/s down and 24 Mbit/s up. That is not as much speed increase as I was hoping for, but definitely much better, so I will keep on using them. (I should add that the 2 adapters are definitely on different circuits in my breaker box.)It is fast enough that I plan on eventually buying a wireless access point to put on the other TP-link adapter port in the home office. Then I can ditch the old Wi-Fi extender altogether, and have improved Wi-Fi coverage overall.
Worked for 4 Days - Updated 6-28-15, Updated 7-29-15
June 8, 2015
Install was easy and the adapters worked fine...for four days. Day five and after the Ethernet light on the second adapter would not light indicating no internet signal coming out of the unit. I contacted Support by email, couldn't get through on the phone, and was told to download a utility and to reinstall the adapters and to use different Ethernet cables. The utility would not install and then, when I tried again later, the link itself no longer worked. Reinstalling and using different cables also did not resolve the problem. It was great the first four days...then it became a paper weight. I am going to return them to Amazon and will probably ask for a refund,.All things considered, I don't think I want to try another set.Update 6-28-15: I returned the first set of two adapters and asked Amazon to send me a second set to try. They have been working well now for about two weeks. They do drop the connection occasionally but usually regain it without me doing anything a few seconds later. They are a good solution to needing better Internet coverage in my home...a good solution when they are working properly. I have revised my 1 Star rating to 3 at this point. I'll update this review again once they have been in operation for a longer period of time.Update 7-29-15: I'm pleased with this item so far...as long as it continues to function. It does occasionally fail to come out of its sleep mode requiring that the secondary adapter be unplugged and then plugged back in again. Initially, it dropped the connection from time to time but then reacquired it in a few moments. It hasn't done this for awhile. Also, if I suffer a power outage or have to reboot my modem or router, the TP-Link adapters are no longer recognized and this requires that I unplug both adapters and then first plug in the primary and then the secondary. When they are functioning, they work well. They do require the above actions, though, to keep them up and running. So far, I would buy them again.
OMG I have internets.

We live in a 100 year old house with plaster walls underneath wood paneling. Pity us. Wireless will not penetrate the walls no matter how many repeaters / antennae / amps / cats with tinfoil you place. My 14 year old daughter was throwing a stereotypical teenage girl conniption fit that her wireless kept dropping out, had a 1mbps downstream, and was generally poo. After some last ditch settings adjustments I ordered these, on the advice from a popular hardware forum. While they were a little fiddly to initially pair, once I got them installed, it was magic. Digital unicorns flew out of my daughter's Tumblr feed at the speed of 30mbps, and she no longer things I'm a moron. In other words, works awesome.

Not the best Range Extender I have purchased. I would look at others. I purchased it because it was on sale. Setup wasnt that difficult but it has limited range compared to others. Here is an update for you. Their customer relations was really unhappy with my previous 3 star review. So they sent me their Motorau N300 wireless-N unit. This unit actual worked well. Still super awkward setup. People I do IT work for a living and typically find wireless adaptors simple to setup. 4 stars for their customer relations but this product is not worth it. Buy their N300 wireless if your going to stick with these folks. Honestly I would pay more and get an Amped Repeater if your looking for a repeater.

I APPRECIATED BILL'S REVIEW AS IT HELPED ME BIG TIME! I purchased this after my edimax wifi extender cube broke x 5. Yes I purchased it 5 separate times and didn't bother sending it in for replacement because of the low cost, BUT ATLEAST I WAS ABLE TO SPEAK TO A LIVE PERSON THERE THIS PRODUCT HAS NO CONTACT INFORMATION ON THE BOX AND OR ON THE WEBSITE.. VERY FRUSTRATING. AFTER READING BILL'S REVIEW I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET IT SET UP, CAN'T SAY YET HOW IT WORKS YET BUT I FIND IT INTERESTING THAT NO WHERE ON THE BOX OR INSTRUCTIONS CAN YOU FIND A SUPPORT PHONE NUMBER OR A MANUFACTURERS NAME ASIDE FROM IT BEING MADE IN CHINA...BUYER BEWARE IF THE DEVICE GOES DEFECTIVE I WILL NOT BE PURCHASING ANOTHER ONE..

December 16, 2015
I have tried every method possible to get this device to work. The instructions were horribly written and I couldn't see the example on the instruction page, because it was blurred. I took a break and just tried it again......I want to use it as an extender, so I go through the process fine until I get to the part where my computer is suppose to reboot. Nothing happens. Anybody have any suggestions?Tonight, I read another customer's review at which time I learned he posted the instructions, using his Kindle instead of a PC. His instructions were so easy to follow and now I have wi fi throughout my home.I'm changing my review to a "3" now.
Hope you got some time on your hands...

An okay product for the price. The initial configuration took a lot longer than I would have liked. Not very easy to use and super sloooooooow! But once configured they do the trick. The range is okay, but not the best. While it's not fair to compare it to other, more expensive products--it's performance through walls isn't the best. But if you are just trying to snag that last corner of your house which lacks wi-fi and you have some patience to do some installation, this isn't a bad product to pick-up.
Instructions: easier said than done; a tech friend came over configured it quickly
November 15, 2015
At first it was difficult for me to configure this WiFi repeater. I thought I was computer savvy, but this challenged my prowess. So I communicated with the seller and he gave me some suggestions. I called a local computer tech that got the mini WiFi working quickly. I passed some of this information onto the seller about how he could improve the instructions. The unit works very well now and my neighbor can connect to the Wireless-N's network signal from 75 feet away.
UPDATE
October 30, 2015
I like it, it works well and is pretty easy to set up.I am currently using it as an extender/ booster (my router is in the basement) and it does a good jobBoosts the signal through one wall out to the porch for streaming movies.Wish it was a little stronger, but for the price you cant beat it. I will probably order one more for the bedroom.UPDATE: Initially I liked it a lot, extended my wifi out to my patio outside with no issues. I have purchased a new router and cant get it to register with the new router. I cant figure it out, and don't have the paperwork anymore. good luck

Works fine when I'm able to use it (halves my wifi ... EDIT: Fixed the problem with a caveat)
October 9, 2017
Works fine when I'm able to use it (halves my wifi speed and keeps my ping stable, which is what I need), but I've found that it keeps unpairing and I have to unplug both and plug both in again. Troubleshooting the internet connection reveals that the "ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration" and trying to fix it from the PC does nothing. I've had to unplug both and plug both in again every day for the past few days. This makes it basically useless for the purposes of which I bought it.Edit: I've changed my score from a 2 to a 3 because I managed to fix the problem. I refuse to give it a higher score, though, because fixing the problem entailed creating a bat file to ping the adapter every few seconds and starting that bat file every time I log in. This is akin to a duct tape fix. Yes, the product now works, but it it did not come in a fully functional state. I would recommend buying a slightly more expensive adapter if you can.
Speed is for interneting not snorting.

So, This product I am sure is fantastic in the perfect environment. however, i was attempting to boost my speeds and get off wireless and this worked...? But just. I was still no where NEAR my 300Mpbs that I was getting from the router from my ISP. however, That being said, It did double my speed so it worked for sure. but that does not matter any more... Because i have fiber now. Hnnnnnn.... Fiber...Are you on a high fiber diet?
This works much better than wifi but it drops the connection occasionally
April 21, 2017
I live in a long apartment and my router is at the opposite end of the apartment. This works much better than wifi but it drops the connection occasionally. It mostly happens at night which is weird because most of the building is asleep so I don't think anything would interfere with it at that time. It loses connection at least 5 times a night for 30 seconds to 5 minutes at a time. It's a really annoying problem but it works a lot better than my wifi so I deal with it
Using the product, TP-Link Customer Service can be hard to reach.
November 27, 2016
I've been using the AV500 adapters for a couple years now. The speed is not as promised and it does drop connections often. This is the main reason for the voluntary recall on this item by TP-LINK. Overall I would say they are still a good option. I wanted to take part in the recall and upgrade to the AV600 to get closer to the promised speeds. My main issue is with the company myself. For the recall you can either call, e-mail, or fill out the request form online. I've filled the online form out twice, e-mailed three times, and called and left angry messages for the lack of response twice by phone. I have heard nothing. This is over a period of three weeks. Customer service at TP-LINK is awful and I think everyone should be warned. For the recall, I think a class action lawsuit needs to be started because their voluntary recall solution is not a genuine solution on TP-LINK's part.1/17/17After having to open BBB and California case files against TP-Link, the company responded and settled the matter. I hope they will provide better customer service to their customers in the future.
Works Okay, But Not Reliable
October 24, 2016
I am disappointed with the reliablity. I am connecting a couple of 100M devices in a G-bit network, so I was not too concern about the speed. I am, however, disappointed that the units would lose connection every 12-36 hours or so. Fortunately, for me, the socket is within arm's reach--a quick unplug/replug fixes the problem. So, it's a minor inconvience for me. I have tried 2 versions of firmware--original_131218 and downloaded_131216. The result is similar for either. The downloaded one from tp site might be slightly better, but I only had it for a few days so far. It is slightly disconcerting that I just wiped out a possibly newer factory version. In any case, if it need not be a mission-critical device, it is an easy solution. But, if you don't ever want to fuss with it, it's probably best to look elsewhere.
Internet BOOST or BUST?!?!
September 1, 2016
Let me first start off by saying I bought this product in an effort to maximize my abilities on a new PC I recently built. This review covers three aspects, Installation, Price, and Performance.INSTALLATIONThe installation of this product is as simple as plug-and-perform as advertised, “No configuration required.” For the sake of providing more information than is really necessary, the router and modem are both in the front room of the house, about 40-50 feet away from my computer. After plugging the first TP-LINK in, simply plug the second one (they come in a pack of two) into the wall socket and then to your computer. **Remember that this works through circuits on the same panel.**PRICEAt a price-point of $35 on Amazon, it is worth the money if you are a casual computer user. Again I must re-emphasize that I built a gaming PC for the purposes of school use and gaming, not just a run of the mill computer you buy from the local Office Depot. For me, I’d rather spend this money on an Ethernet cord and get guaranteed connection which I can monitor and report to my Internet Service Provider if something goes wrong. *P.S. they sometimes like to blame your equipment instead of their connections.PERFORMANCEWhen I originally built my PC, I installed a WiFi Adapter because, at the time, I assumed this would be the easiest fix to get my computer up and running (no drilling holes, no clunky cords/connectors, etc.) With anything wireless, dropped connection can be an issue if there are more than a few devices on the same bandwidth or if the connection is having to run through multiple walls. Since both were my case, I was not able to amply use this WiFi component, and thus the genius idea to buy the TP-LINK.Upon first installation, I ran a test to determine the upload/download speeds and they were equivalent or maybe slightly higher than what I received from the WiFi Adapter. The largest difference was in the stability of the connection; it was far superior to wireless for general browsing or web surfing. However, I would NOT recommend this product for serious PC gamers. Although the internet works, the ping did not improve and thus the infamous LAG-A-THON occurred when gaming online. So, in summation, the stability of the connection is admirable and definitely worth it for the casual computer user and would even be acceptable for smaller online games. Serious gamers or heavy researchers – AKA College Students - would be better off using that $35 toward an Ethernet cord and a drill bit (if necessary) to ensure optimum performance.

Complicated to setup.
February 10, 2016
Very complicated to setup the instructions provided were confusing also. Bought a different product and it works great, easy setup.
Too many bugs in firmware.
February 7, 2016
This is WiFi device has the worst firmware of any of the dozen or so routers I have set up as a LAN administrator. Basically, you have to expect to factory reset the device and implement your updates when you reconfigure the router. I have had some success re-accessing it when I've made minimal changes to the setup default, but as soon as I try to use it as an AP, forget it.The only reason I gave it two stars and not one, is their tech support emailed me promptly after I contacted them. They didn't seem to understand my issue and I didn't have the time to elaborate, so I dropped it. However, their website clearly addresses my problem:"Q: I wanna go back to change the setting of Motoraux after setting it up, but I fail to access the login page.A: Please note that after you’ve successfully set up Motoraux, the IP address is unable to access unless you do the reset and set it up again. Then you can change the setting during your setup." [...]Another issue I had with the device is when I configured the LAN to use 192.168.0.xxx, it would use 1992.168.1.xxx. Other than horrendous setup issues, the WiFi has a good signal and I have resolved myself to use the "Factory Reset" option for changing the settings.Their support site does not have any firmware updates, perhaps they will come out with fixes.
Disappointed
January 5, 2016
This requires an outlet to plug the device into and then plug it into my modem. I don't have a wall outlet close enough to use this this. Disappointed.

Seems to help a little, but I'm purchasing the Eero when it is available to ship early 2016.
but the instructions are so bad I can't give it a good review
December 8, 2015
Seems to work well as a signal repeater, but the instructions are so bad I can't give it a good review. Just throw the instructions away when you get this device and look online.
Cannot set up one of them
December 4, 2015
Bought 2, first one setup pretty easily. The second one will not accept the username and password. I tried a factory reset several times to no avail. Unplugged for a while and still won't allow the username/password combination user user. Also this one shows up as RTL 11nAp as the other shows up as Wireless-N as default names. I guess different manufacturers or firmware. Both were bought at the same time and are the exact same model. I guess you get what you pay for. i also tried the WPS button and it will not connect that way either.

Speeds not even close to what is advertised.
September 16, 2017
Unfortunately I had to return this as the bandwidth was terrible. I get 200+ mbps downstream through ethernet, and average 100 mbps over WiFi in a 4000 sq ft house (furthest point from router I get between 60-100, depending on time of day and test).I wanted to get full speed in my basement to set up home office, and found that with this I only got 30 mbps downstream with this device, worse than my WiFi. I do know others that have found this useful, particularly in older houses where the walls completely block wifi signal, but it's really a flip of the coin. For me, not worth it.
Easy plug-and-play operation? The play part did not happen
August 6, 2017
I did not see any speed improvements in all of the tests I've tried. I've tried all the plugs and speeds are just same as not having anything plugged in at all. My internet router sits in an upstairs bedroom because the guy installing the internet, said that that would be the best place for the entire house. It isn't. My living room, where all my streaming happens, has speeds at 10-15Mbps while the bedroom, where all the social networking, happens is near 100Mbps. I just need something that can fix this and this was not it.
Would be great if it had constant connection.
May 25, 2017
Tl:Dr: Don't buy, randomly disconnects.Okay, so they work pretty well, had great internet speed. Ise Cat6 Ethernet cables. There are two things that are wrong with it. First one is that you have to have nothing else, or rather, nothing with complex wiring plugged into the wall with the same room as in washer machine, refrigerator, my laptop charger or fan otherwise your internet speed will literally be a fraction of what it is possible. Went from around 35 Mbps to 7 Mbps with just my laptop charger plugged in. Another thing is you can't plug it into a surge protector cause that has same effect, or worse. That's really just the nature of power lines though. The second and most important problem is the fact that after ~30 minutes of constant use they seem to disconnect and o have to manually unplug and replug back into wall. To get to reconnect. It's super annoying, and when Im gaming it's terrible. I've looked up this issue and it seems that it's a very common problem with this adapter as well as a few other products with TP Link and they refuse to fix it. Everythings updated and such, still happens. So, because of that problem alone I will be returning this and going with a different brand. Long story short, don't buy.
I'm sure it works better for some but for me - too slow.
May 21, 2017
I'm glad it works for some people but the speeds were just too slow for me to keep using this. I wanted to use this device to relocate my wifi access point. But the speeds were so bad that it was better leaving the wifi access point where it was.I would have probably been happy with 100mbit which is 1/10th of a gigabit. Too much to ask?In the location I wanted to use this device, I was getting about 6mbit. Way too slow.
Worked great at first
February 7, 2017
Internet access keeps dropping. I have to unplug the unit and plug it back in multiple times an hour to get it to function. Worked great initially... but it seems to be dropping more frequently with each passing day. I'm unplugging it and plugging it back in every half-hour or so now.I can't really think of what else is causing the problem here... it is an old home (1910's) but it works so great the first few weeks. =/UPDATE:I moved a few months ago into a newer apartment complex, built in the 90s. I'm still using this, although I have to unplug and re-plug it in sporadically - averaging about once a day - in order to get it to work. Although in the past week I've to completely unplug and sync the units next to each other, then plug everything back in. It's annoying AF, and the manufacturer really support this product with firmware updates/etc although they're still selling them.I seriously hate these things, but the alternative is running a 100ft hard line on the ceiling.
Less expensive than Netgear, but just as good. Problem with intermittent loss of sync.
January 29, 2016
These worked great at first, they have more than double the data transmission rates of the first-generation power line adapters, and they can establish a secure link between the two ends of the connection so your neighbors can't receive your signal through their power lines. I was previously using a Netgear XAV101 set, which worked great for several years, but the transmission speed was limited to about 10 Mbps. When I tried to stream HD video across the power lines, the image stuttered. So I switched to this TP Link kit, and the stuttering disappeared. The TP-Link transmits at least at 23 Mbps, which is the max download speed that my internet service provider gives me. I don't think it really hits 500 Mbps, but who cares? It's faster than the download speed I get from the cable company, so my power lines are no longer a bottleneck. And the price is right--these are a lot less expensive than Netgear, but just as good.UPDATE: After using these for a few months, I ran into a problem where using several of them at the same time led to frequent loss of sync on one or more of them. I was using them to connect TIVO boxes to the internet, and the loss of sync would cause the TV signal to disconnect. I could immediately reconnect, but this keeps happening, so it's unacceptable. TP-Link has a return policy, so I'm returning these.

Pure crap, too light to even be used as a paperweight
November 27, 2016
I concur with the other reviewer "this is a piece of junk, and most of the positive reviews are complete BS--sponsored or promoted." Same issues as other 1 star reviews: I bought this last year (it worked ok) and now it has stopped working; you can't reset it (per their instructions) and the wi-fi (light not on) won't work, can't access it via the LAN cable, nothing. It sleeps with the fishes, it is dead to me, throwing it out in the morning. You might as well burn your money if you're going to buy this piece of crap. The Motoraux website is pretty comical too.
Bad all around.
January 18, 2016
I was getting a poor Wi-Fi signal in the far rooms of my house, so I decided to give this device a try. It was a mistake. This thing does not work well. I set it up correctly, then did it again because I figured I must have done something wrong. My signals were not boosted in the least. Nothing was better, everything was worse. It slowed down my connections and was just not useful. On top of that, the instructions are hard to understand and were clearly not written by someone who speaks English well. The company also does not have good support. You should not get this product. If you're wavering and unsure, don't buy it. Certainly don't buy it if you don't already know how to set up a router or an access point, because the instructions are bad enough that you will have to rely on your existing knowledge to figure it out. Not recommended.
Beware! Do yourself a favor and READ all the REVIEWS before placing an order on this @&$ device! Its annoyingly FRUSTRATING! 0*

From a hectic setup at first to working conditions for about a month, then mysteriously pretends to run, yet my various devices cant connect to it even thought theyre all set within mac filtering and login credentials, both on the extender and wifi devices. Theyll try and skip and or reboot connecting process. What Ive noticed is that my computer kept waking up from sleep while I had this extender plugged in the wall and running along with my network yet not being able to connect to it.The most funny fact with this device is the range. I bought this hoping to be made by different standards than here in america. Comes out this is very weak extender when it comes to wifi signal broadcasting. My main wifi source is about 10 yards away from this. Picks the signal good, and from its location 10 yards away from the wifi source, walking outdoors, the main wifi source has merely 2dB lesser signal strength than this cheap pathetic "repeater" thats being 10 yards closer to me. Isnt that odd? But as first mentioned, I have a security concerns about using this and actually feel more relieved ever since Unplugged it off the wall. Oh, not to mention physical aspect, the wall socket adapter that can be taken out. It did snapped off on me once I twisted the unit while unplugging. Adapter was left in wall socket and taking it out was quite scary as I didnt want to get electrocuted. Yes, 110V isnt 220V but still. It just says all about this product by all means not being recommended. Despite seeing mixed reviews I gave it a chance and bought it cheap (about 30 bucks or so, after months of having it and two times setting it up feeling im solving mysterious puzzles due to its retarded GUI, I wish I didn't try to be so cheap and save money on this kind of device and went with brand and actual "quality" product instead.
It had great instructions and worked
November 13, 2015
Instructions were impossible to read. I suspect the positive reviews were bogus (that's what Fakespot said). Could not get it to connect to my router, but maybe that's because I couldn't read the instructions (printed with light blue ink). Returned to Amazon and bought a namebrand for about the same price. It had great instructions and worked.

Total user experience failure.
November 5, 2015
I would say I'm pretty tech savvy and I could not get this range extender to work. I wasted an hour trying to read through pages of instructions (there is only one page but there are some 12 panels written in 6 or 8 size font). Moreover, there is no tech support. I couldn't even find their website.

Horrible Networking Device, Be sure to ave your packaging for return.
August 28, 2017
Worst investment of $25 I've ever made.Yes, I know that this product's performance is dependant on many external factors. I'm on the higher end of networking technology use and comprehension.Besides the fact that this was unstable-ish from the beginning (which would point to external factors, maybe), it's gotten progressively worse as time goes on. I'm resetting this thing several times a day (in fact twice while writing this), and often isn't any faster than my wifi.
Download speeds less than 1Mbps!
August 22, 2017
This product is terrible! I use DSL provided by CenturyLink at 20Mbps. I usually get about 17-18Mbps on the LAN line and 15-16Mbps while on wireless. When I setup the TP-Link AV200 adapters I was only able to reach and average download speed of 0.7mbps. I tried it numerous times and kept getting the same results. The connection also drops frequently. Unacceptable! I am trying to reach TP-Link to see if I can return this product under warranty. There must be something wrong with this product because it's been successful for other users who have posted here.
Garbage
May 9, 2017
Plug and Play didn't work for me.Instructions are simple but I'm not not getting traffic from Upstairs to Downstairs using the supplied patch cables and I'm not going thru a power strip/surge protector.Instructions say to use on the same circuit? If that means off the same breaker then the description should be more specific.
Parts stopped working
January 20, 2017
Both of my adapters stopped working after about 8 months. Up till then they worked fine. After calling customer support at TP-Link I was told that they would be replaced and I was put in touch with a different department that handles replacements. The procedure they use requires that I return the defective parts to them at my expense and then when they receive them they will send me replacements. The result: My home network is down for several weeks due to their poor procedures, plus I have to pay for shipping.
Waste of time and money!
December 21, 2015
Does not work! They claim 24/7 support - you could speak to those people for 24hrs straight and not get an intelligent answer.I've been using powerline adapters for 4-5 years. I have a fair amount of experience with them - at least the ones that work. The "base" unit (the one that connects to the router) seems to be the issue for me. I have a different brand base unit and was able to get the remote unit to receive data with it, but not with the TP-Link base unit.Calling support was a complete waste of time. They had no recommendations - didn't even mention the pairing process nor did they know which LEDs should be on.
Not much better than a public signal
October 16, 2015
Not much better than a public signal. After ios9 update my iPad 2 has very very poor wifi reception. Prior to the update it was full signal. I thought the tp link would help and it has not. I'll be retuning it.Connecting was also a PITA. Although plug and play it as hard to tell when connected because the signal couldn't be read.
