Really smooth shave! I really like being able to clean the blades by running the head under a water stream from the sink faucet.
April 16, 2017
Provides a really smooth shave. My previous electric razor lasted almost thirty years before it finally died (on-off switch finally failed) so I hadn't realized how much an improvement there has been in the sharpness of the cutting blades (yes, I had replaced the blades several times in the previous razor over that thirty year time span!). I really like the capability of cleaning the blades by running the head under a water stream from the bathroom sink faucet.Although it is advertised as providing approximately 40 minutes of shaving time with one charge of the battery, I have found it lasts quite a bit longer than that so far.
Phenomial Electric Razor
August 2, 2016
So my little brother hit shaving age and I bought him this. I WAS BLOWN AWAY! The construction is solid and I found this to be VASTLY superior to my Norelco Sensotouch 2D, and that razor runs at double the price as this one. I was able to shave much faster and got a much closer shave with this razor. I ended up replacing my Sensotouch 2D with a Braun 7 Series which is the best electric shaver I've used so far, but I still can't recommend this razor enough, especially given it's very low price point. The only drawback I can see to this razor is that you have to disassemble the shaving head to clean it out thoroughly, but I don't think that's a huge con at all.Again, I don't think you can beat the value prop of this razor.
Best choice in this price range.
August 8, 2015
This is a very good razor. Great shave. Faster spin speed than lower priced model, due to higher voltage lithium-ion battery. Charges quicker, has charge indicator light, stays charged longer. Rinses out to clean. Trimmer works great too. Does not come with charger stand as pictured, just a regular charger.

A great value. Norelco is top shelf goods.
Excellent Electric Shaver at an Affordable Price
May 4, 2015
I've used this shaver for a couple of weeks and it has exceed my expectations. I get a reasonably smooth shave without using the water needed for the optional scrape razor. And that's no small thing here in California where water is becoming a rare and precious resource. The reason I purchased this item was to save water, and it's doing that; not much saving, but every little bit helps, I hope.I like the ergonomics of this shaver as it is very comfortable. The floating heads do an excellent job of providing a smooth shave. It charges the battery fairly rapidly, but I keep it plugged in at night, and don't take it on trips. So, battery charging is not an issue for me.I recommend this to anyone needing a fine electric razor at an affordable price.
Pleasantly impressed
March 6, 2015
This razor really exceeded my expectations! I bought it as a replacement for my 8-year-old Norelco razor, and the technology has advanced noticeably. I like the battery life, which lasted 3.5 weeks for me on its first charge. The low battery indicator and the quick charge feature are also big pluses. I'm happy with the closeness of the shave. The ability to clean the razor under running water works fine, though I don't know that it saves much time. I haven't tried a 'wet shave' with the razor, but it's nice to have the option. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this razor for the price.

This is a great value for $40
June 13, 2016
This is a great value for $40. The razor is comfortable, works well, and is easy to clean. The battery holds the charge well, too. The only issue is that while shaking hair out of it, the cover and hinge "popped" out of the main body; however, I gently pushed it back and it has never failed since and is not loose.
Great price on a trusted name!
May 24, 2016
I was pleasantly surprised at how quick this was delivered. It came packaged in a simple box with the cord, plastic cover for blade protection and a set of instructions. There was no traveling case included. I have always like Norelco products and have used them for years. This particular vendor offered an additional 6 month warranty over the two year warranty included. It charged fully within four hours and worked effortlessly. I was pleased with the purchase. The only reason it did not get five stars is the booklet for the directions was not cut properly (however everything could be read).
Buy the HQ9 SpeedXL Replacement Heads for a closer cut
February 8, 2016
Out of the box this shaver works okay. Because the stock blades are the "comfort cut" much of the surface area is not used so you may be left with an uneven cut. I wanted a closer cut since I was literally having to shave twice as long which can irritate the skin. After 3 months of using it, I bought the HQ9 SpeedXL Replacement Heads which has more blades and uses all of the surface area of the shaver head. Now I'm left with a much cleaner cut.
You can't hate the French for giving us Gillette and Norelco!
November 3, 2015
I've owned Norelco before. So when my shaver wore out after about 12-15yrs of use, I decided to give the PT724 a try. I was amazed at how comfortable and clean it shaves. You couldn't beat the price either. At about $45, it's the price of a dinner for two and the effect of the dinner is over before the next day/meal. The effect of the money spent on this shaver will last you years.Pros:-can shave while the unit is charging-Charges quickly-good grip-clean shave-trimmer works great-ligtht and easy to gripcons:-somewhat loud compared to the high-end Norelco models (8833-XL that I owned for example).-Feels a liitle cheap compared to the 8800 line. But at the price, it's an unfair comparison.I've only owned this for about 4mths. So I don't know much about its durability.Good luck!
Good experience.
September 12, 2015
This is the first time I started using an electric razer with 3 heads and also the first time I had my skin clean with no scratches. I think my skin is very sensitive to blades and this shaver was perfect. It wasn't that efficient (I had to place it in the same area over and over), but so far so good. It might be me just me getting used to it.Amazon didn't sent the porch and stand/holder shown in product description page. I didn't take a star for that since it isn't a product flaw, but bad advertising from amazon.
Good service so far - but that's just two weeks. I'm counting on the Li ion batteries...
December 13, 2014
I got this for my husband. In the past, he has had several Norelco razors and the very similar versions from Remington, plus a Braun of a different design. The limiting factor has always been the NiCad batteries, so I hoped this version would be an improvement. He has only had it for a few weeks now so that's no test for the batteries, other than mentioning that the initial charge went quickly. One of the Norelcos he had was a high-ticket version with a little reservoir that holds some Nivea lotion. He said that did make the shave more comfortable, but no closer, and if he skipped a day (or two), it could not cope with the extra growth; he doesn't have a heavy beard either Also, the trimmer head was separate and the regular head had to be swapped to use the trimmer. He gave it a full year and a little more, but eventually he decided it wasn't worth the trouble. Also, the blue plastic trim is deteriorating - not so good for a premium product. The point of discussing a different razor here? Save your money. Stick with the PT 724 or a basic variation.

Battery life horrible.
September 2, 2017
Tricky way to obsolete you shaver and buy a new on. My experience with Norelco up to this point has been fabulous. Best engineering design on the market. BUT, the battery died in less than a year and there was no way to replace it. This forces me to buy a new shaver. I was angry and got a Braun. See my review on this disaster above.
Battery life much shorter than similar older model
February 25, 2016
I bought this because it is very similar to my older Norelco 7310XL. It can be rinsed under the faucet and it uses the same blades. So far it cuts OkBut the battery only lasts about 7-8 shaves. My old one lasted at least 14 and as many as 20 shaves. I have to assume the battery in the new model has lower capacity. This model also tends to vibrate slightly when shaving-- the old one ran smoother. Also, there is no warning that the battery is low. It just suddenly stops working. The older model gave obvious signs that it needed recharging by starting to slow down and sounding differ. This model does recharge faster --- but that is the only improvement I can find. Otherwise, it seems to have been engineered down to save money.
I would much rather have a better one, but I guess I'm stuck with this ...
January 31, 2016
This is the bottom (and I mean bottom) of the line. The ENTIRE thing is plastic. It rattles and sounds cheap. The motor sounds about half as strong as my old Norelco shaver. It DOES work. It shaves. It came in a cardboard box that had the appearance of a refurb. I would much rather have a better one, but I guess I'm stuck with this one for a few years. BUT...It does work. If you aren't too particular, it might be great for you.
I'm not really happy with this one
January 14, 2016
I've always owned Norelco shavers. I'm not really happy with this one, wish I'd bought a grade up. This shaves well, but, is rough on the skin. Since I owned an older Norelco, my face is used to electric shavers. The shaver blades are easily cleaned, just wash it in water, however, the area that catches the whiskers is tougher to clean, especially once it's wet after just being washed with water. This one doesn't have the "lift and cut" blades, which I knew when I purchased it, and that's why I wish I'd purchased the grade up.Also, the motor at full charge seems a lot "weaker" than my older shaver. My older shaver was over 20 years old, and I needed a new one, but, I wish I hadn't gotten this model.
Comfortable, but inconsistent.
October 22, 2015
This shaver works fine, I guess. It's a Norelco, a trusted brand, and they've been making shavers for longer than I've been around. But quite frankly, my little 2-headed Norelco travel shaver --- about 20 years old -- seems to do a better job. This model is comfortable, though. The mounted heads move nicely along the contours of my skin. But I do find myself going over the same spot two or three times -- way more than I should be.Also, the plastic feels cheap. The other travel shaver I mentioned is plastic, too, but it is thicker and sturdier. With this shaver, I feel that if I drop it, it's going to shatter like a light bulb. Finally, I don't feel like I get enough from an 8-hour charge. Just two or three shaves, and that's it. Maybe unreasonable on my part, but I have a light beard. I'm in my 50s, but I'm not even a daily shaver. Not like I'm really working it. I shouldn't have to go over spots two or three times. The older shaver still goes strong for a longer stretch on a couple of AA batteries. They don't make'em like they used to.
Better than nothing
August 24, 2015
Better than nothing. If you have a very curly beard and have to shave with the grain to keep from getting pseudofolliculitis barbae, this razor is not going to do nearly as well as a fresh old-fashioned safety razor, in a hot shower, with shave oil and shaving cream applied with a badger hair brush. Maybe it would do that well if you used it in the shower, with shaving cream, etc. The instructions say you can. But if you are going to do that, what did you buy this for? By the time I went to all that trouble, I could have just done it the old-fashioned way. I bought this to shave in the car. And for that, it's better than nothing.

Shaver causes continued irritation
December 6, 2016
I do like a few features of this shaver: it's light and travels well; it's quiet so it doesn't wake others; it has a good strong battery and international versatility for 220/120 volts; its trimmer works fine. But...it doesn't shave well, since I have to go over and over the same spots to get a clean shave; the low battery indicator is ineffective, so you run out before realizing it; but worst of all, no matter whether I shave with a dry face, or with pre-electric shave solution, or with shaving cream, I always get severe irritation and burning at the base of my throat. Even one light pass of the razor over the area will make red lines that last all day. The instructions say you should give your skin a month to acclimate (past the return date...), but it's been lots longer than that! What gives? Wish I could return this.
Most of the reviews were good so I ordered it
October 7, 2015
I read many reviews on this razor before I purchased it. Most of the reviews were good so I ordered it. Well I'm not real satisfied with it because it doesn't shave very close and I have to go over the same areas several times. The motor sounds like the battery is ready to die, even when it is fully charged. But it is does shave, just not very good.
I would like an explanation about it
September 23, 2015
Hi,I have a doubt regarding the product is shown in the web. According with it, the shaver comes with a little bag and a docking to be charge.I sent the article to my brother who was in vacation and he brought it to me. But my surprise was that the razor only came with the electric cord, so not with the additional objects that I saw in the ad. I don't know if I was confused and the model that I bought (PT 724) do not bring those articles.I would like an explanation about it. So that is why I indicated only 2 stars.RegardsPhilips Norelco PT724/46 Shaver 3100
Longtime Norelco user, but can't recommend this model
August 30, 2015
After 30+ years using Norelco shavers, gotta say I'm disappointed by this model. Normally, when I get a new shaver, one of the great benefits is getting a faster, closer shave than my old Norelco, whose battery and heads have worn down. But shaving with this model is not as close and is even SLOWER than my old Norelco.I don't know if this is mainly due to different heads or whatever as another reviewer suggests (though I don't see any difference from my previous shaver), but I suspect the switch to a Lithium Ion battery has something to do with it. I was eager to switch to Li-ion, and the charging is faster and more convenient, but the heads don't seem to spin as fast, and so the shave isn't as close. It's more like how the shave was on my old Ni-Cd Norelco when the battery was nearly run down.Maybe the voltage on the Li-ion battery is different and that's the reason, IDK. I have no idea whether this affects all the new Li-ion Norelcos or just this one, but I can't recommend this model.

I was disappointed in the newer heads as they don't seem to work as well as an older model I had. They sound cheap and flimsy. Also, I was surprised to find Philips didn't supply a travel bag (even if it was a cheap model bag). Cleaning this unit is more difficult than the previous model. I don't use water as a cleaning agent as mentioned in the booklet. I guess I just miss my 20 year old unit. It worked flawlessly. Maybe this cheap sounding Chinese unit may as well.... time will tell.As far as delivery from Amazon.... just as they said... no gripes.
Worst Norelco I have owned
May 4, 2015
I have used Norelco razors for many years. This is the first one I can truly say disappointed me. Takes much longer to shave with this razor than the last Norelco I owned and I always seem to have patches that are left with stubble. I know this is not a top of the line razor from Noreco but it should at least work. Time to find another razor.

I was very disappointed and too lazy to return it
April 20, 2016
Shame on me for not reading the one star reviews before buying.I bought this to replace a 10 year old $25 electric razor from target. I was very disappointed and too lazy to return it.Pros1. No irritation like some new electric razorsCons1. This doesn't give you a close shave. It misses a ton of stubble and the only way to look presentable is to finish your shave with another razor. Useless.2. The seller either purposely or accidentally gave me a used/returned razor. I left the blade cover and brush in the box for a few weeks. When I looked for the box to return it, I saw someone else's hair on both the blade cover and brush. Gross.
Two Months and Dead ...
April 10, 2016
I have now used this razor for two months. I really liked this razor!! In those two months I have only had to recharge it twice, and that is based upon using it daily. However, after this second charging I went to use it this morning and nothing happened. It wouldn't turn on. I even plugged it in and with the cord in place it still won't turn on. It shows that it is charging, but that is all I get. The unit is dead!! I now get to go through the hassle of trying to get Philips Norelco to replace it. Thank goodness I bought the extra warranty - didn't think I would need to use it so soon!!!

I have owned a Norelco razor for many years. Thinking it was old and about to wearout I purchased this one. The old one after many years use is much better than the new. It takes twice as long to shave, and never really shaves as close as the old one. It is a terrible disappointment for this brand. Shame on you for producing such an inferior product using a brand name that has stood for quality.

never really wrote a bad review on amazon until i got this piece of junk. This totally stopped working after 3 months....went to turn it on and nothing. It was probably a good thing as this razor had poor cutting ability....it has "COMFORT CUT" razor head. When it stopped working, i had a old Norelco (probably 25 years old) with the original "LIFT AND CUT" razor heads, even that one - a pure plug in model with no charge ability, had a better closer shave.I now have the new Braun Shaver 7 series (now very happy) - like my mom always told me, "you get what you pay for".Stay away from this one, you will be very disappointed.
I HATE false advertising
September 19, 2015
I HATE false advertising, and the pictured image when you first click on this Philips Norelco shows a very nice looking razor docked nicely in its charging stand, with a leather-looking case behind it. The other cheaper model Philips Norelco razors do not show the charging stand and case pictured. So naturally, you pay more for a product that seems to have extras included, but what arrives is just the razor and power cord. This really bothers me! A statement in the description like "Charging stand and Traveling Case NOT INCLUDED" would have sufficed. Or some links which could allow you to purchase these separately would also have been appreciated.I feel misled. Too bad this was a gift for my father who really could have used that charging stand... :(

June 21, 2015
nice features, but i don't like that when the battery is low, it's like someone throws the off switch. yeah, the light flashes, but nobody i know shaves with the unit upside-down, so you won't see the indicator light anyway. my remington R950 would just die nice & slowly and let you finish the job if you needed to. also, it has TWO concentric cutters in each of the 3 heads and cuts waaaay faster. i can shave in about 5 minutes with the remington and still use it occasionally since it is a better shaver--even tho it is 7 years older than the norelco. the norelco only has 1 cutter in each head & maybe that's why it takes 15 minutes to shave? far too over-rated IMO.edit: after a few months of use, i've come to the realization this shaver just does NOT cut. it takes 20+ minutes to shave! just don't understand these high reviews. did i get a bad unit? were the others getting free product?? can't explain, but this is a one-star shaver at best!
