Side by Side Comparison of: Noritake vs Thirstystone

I ordered 2 sets of these because I wanted something decent looking and low priced. I absolutely LOVE them. They fit almost everything (not coffee mugs) but they look nice and are solid. There was no damage to them and they are holding up well.

I use these as candle holders for a set of LED candles and they look really nice.

These are coasters. They work as coasters are supposed to. They also have the added benefit of looking decent if you have walnut colored wood furniture. I would buy them again.

They keep the condensation off my table full of papers so my papers don't get wet. And they stack without having to put them in a holder.

They are very pretty, a really dark brown color. Heavy enough that my cat doesn't try to knock them off but light enough that they are easy to move. Padding on the bottom keeps them from sliding and they fit most glasses and cups.

I use these every day. My smaller glasses do not fit in the middle, but I flip them over. Any excess water does not get on the table, it goes around the lip when they're flipped so to be fair, works as expected!

These really work well and have a nice modern look and feel.

They are nonslip on both sides. Theyre modern and looks great.

I used these for a toaster oven sitting on a wire baker's type rack since the toaster feet didn't match to the wire grid. Looks great and did the job. Considering I used dessert plates prior...nice improvement and my family accepts me now (a bit).

These are timeless, useful and affordable! What more could you ask for?

I love these modern coasters! Not only do they coordinate well with various decor, they are easy to clean and they are padded underneath so they don't scratch my furniture. There are 6 in total, whch works well for my family. I am going to order another set or two to have on hand for when ee have company.

These are great!I havn't experienced them sticking to my cans or glasses at all... I am assuming those other reviewers are just spilling more water on the coaster than what is normal for that to happen... In normal use they don't stick to the bottom when you lift it up.

There are quite a few reviews from people who did not receive the coasters with the two-tone stain. I really liked the contrast between the black and natural wood, so I took the risk and also received the natural colored coasters without the black. Fortunately, I do still like them and plan to keep the coasters I received, but I'm removing 1 star for the incorrect item description.

The staining and wood graining on the actual coasters is a little bit different as to what's shown in the pictures, but overall I like these. My kid thought it was funny to give the foam and paper coasters I was using to the dog to chew apart, so I got these to outlast them both.

These coasters are great!Pros:- Really beautiful woodgrain; properly treated and stained.- Lightweight, they're not going to ding or chip if dropped.- Stackable designCons:- Doesn't soak up water that well, if your glass is especially sweaty you could get a drip when you pick your glass up.- Mine didn't have the darker banding around the outside that's shown in the photo.All in all, these are really a great deal for their quality. They go great on my new mahogany coffee table!

They match my natural handmade coffee table and end tables well. I'm pleased with them. They absorb well though they don't look like they will. Good product for the price. I'd give 5 stars if it had felt on the bottom.

I love these. Beautiful. Only reason they didn't receive a 5 star; they are very light weight, so if your cup has condensation (cold drink), it will stick to the cup when you lift. I was breastfeeding and didn't realize it stuck. It almost landed on my newborn. Still nice coasters just too light. Add some weight and it'll be 5stars easy.

They're okay. I know someone that has ones that look almost exactly like the pictures, and these don't actually look like their picture.They are indeed made of wood, but the bottom only touches the table for about 3/4 of the width and slopes up from there. I was expecting the bottom to be completely flat. There is also no darker/black color to the bottom. They have the same color all over.The reason I got these was because of the lip to hold any condensation, and that IS there and does its job! Overall, they aren't quite what I was looking for, but they do the job as well as any, so it was fine.

These look great and are quite contemporary, but if it's warm and your drink is in a flat bottom glass, the condensation will stick the coaster to your glass.

Love these coasters. Exact color. Easy to wipe off when dirty. Will probably buy 1-2 more sets for the living room. Con. The bottom edges at a little sharpe.

I like these. Condensation does roll off if you're drink has been sitting a while so make sure you pay attention! We also get coffee rings which we have to frequently wash off. They do look nice and I like how they stack, I just wish they kept the condensation off my table! Isn't that the point of a coaster? Lol

Just what I need

Understated, and functional.As others have noted, an excessive amount of drip may overwhelm the coaster. Personally, I've not had that issue, but I can see how your mileage may vary depending on your home's ambient temperature and humidity.The look is great for those of us who like a modern, but simple flare. The materials grip nicely on tables, and clean relatively easily with a damp cloth.These would be perfect if they had a small raised lip around the outside to ensure 100% that moisture is trapped on the coaster.

If you're looking for a classy coaster, you've got it. I was a little hesitant about this purchase, but it turned out fine. Not perfect, but fine. The water does stay on the coaster for a long period of time. However, I have not experienced drips or overflows onto my desk. I think it depends on the amount of ice you like to put in your drinks. I prefer my ice crushed so it doesn't take much to cool the drink, therefore, not a lot of drips to begin with.I give it 4 stars because although the design looks legit, it feels rough on the top. It's not entirely smoothed out and it makes a pretty bad sound if you like to scrape your glass cup instead of placing it nicely on the coaster. Otherwise, it works. Not perfectly, but it's good. Matches my desk so I'm happy. Beats using a tissue or a cd as my coaster.

I wish these were a bit bigger, does not fit all my mugs. Unfortunately, if you have a cold drink- water does build up on the surface of these like mentioned in other reviews.

I like the look and feel of these coasters. The wood is handsome and classy.Unfortunately, the concave is so small and narrow that many cups/mugs do not properly fit...especially coffee mugs (unless it's an abnormally narrow mug) - they are too wide for the coaster and sit lopsided. Such a shame, as they are great looking little pieces.

Came quickly and look great. I use them all the time......but! One caveat is that if you place a cold drink atop them, they will stick to the glass (which you may not even notice) then all of a sudden they'll drop and go bouncing off of tables and stuff. It's kinda funny when you and the guys are sitting around drinking, I guess, but it's also kind of annoying.

The coasters are ok, just not what I was expecting from the photo. I thought they would be black or very dark on the outside, as they appear in the images. However, they are (very nice) unfinished, uniformly colored wood inside and out.

they're quite attractive but small. the average size coffee mug isn't going to fit. also, condensation often causes the wood to stick, causing a startling clamour once the coaster frees itself .so, if you're into high-maintenance coasters coupled with the nagging thought that, perhaps, you should have opted for a different solution to your coaster needs- these are the coasters for you.

These look nice however they do not absorb water. The water sits in a puddle on top of the wood. They hold the water ok however I was expecting them to absorb it not just let it sit on the surface. So far I have only used it with a plastic cup but I imagine because the glass is sitting in the water you have a good chance of drips when you pick up the glass. I had the stone ones and they absorbed the water much better. The other issue is these will fit the standard dinner glass however I tend to use a wider beer mug type glass (with a handle) and the glass will not fit on these because of the lip. Also, these do not have a soft bottom (felt/cork) like others I had. It is all wood so I am concerned they may scratch my tables. I decided to keep them anyway since when company is over I give them the normal drinking glasses. I still have one stone coaster I keep for my oversized glass.

I'm writing this review a good year or so after purchasing. It's currently June of 2017, and my coasters all have spots of rust on them. While I admit to some lack of care on my end most likely contributing, even while I did tend to them, I still saw a build up of rust issues.Still like them, though. Pretty straightforward and simple coasters. The steel compliments my color scheme.

Thin but they seem ok. I don't use them as coasters though, and I can see how they'd lack the necessary absorbancy factor for a coaster. But I keep them on the stove and use them as spoon holders while I cook, which works just fine.

These are stylish and really fit my modern design, but they do not really soak up water. I like the grip on the bottom but when there is condensation, there is no where for it to go besides on the furniture. I really really wanted to like these, but it doesn't help keep the furniture protected when you have really cold drinks. The holder is really nice as well.

These look really nice out of the box. I liked the look, matched my home office. They are thick and have a nice foam base that prevents it from moving. But, as soon as you use them, you'll know why I gave them three stars.After one use, it left a really bad-looking ring on the coaster from the condensation. The only way to get rid of it is to wipe it off with a cleaner, which can get annoying (they always looks dirty).Another major problem is when there is a decent amount of condensation on the coaster, then I go to pick up the glass, it picked up the coaster with it! This is annoying too, and definitely why these aren't the best coasters to use.If I bought these simply for looks, they would be 5 stars. If I bought these simply for functionality, they would be a 1 star.

These were fairly priced and shipped fast but.....once you get some condensation on them they stick to your glass REALLY fast. Worst part is them being stainless, if they stick and then decide to fall off sideways onto your woood table they leave dents. :-( The foam bottom was nice though and they do look nice, I have since relagated them to my family room and bought other ones at BB&B for $2 for 6 of them.

1. The sides are not actually black.2. The pictures make it look like cedar wood but they're a much cheaper wood3. They're too small for a lot of my cups, like a standard coffee cup and rocks glass

The edges were not painted black like the photo, do not buy, also the wood is lighter.

Much lighter wood than pictured. I thought these were dark wood with a black trim around the edge... they do not look like this in person. However, they do the job and I'll keep them until I find something I like better.. .

The condensation from cold beverages causes the coaster to sort of attach to the bottom of the cup and then in mid drink it falls off the cup, if you're not paying attention and don't realize it's attached.

**The wood is much much lighter than advertised and does not match the table I purchased these for.**- Otherwise quality is decent, and what you would expect for the price.- The coasters are light in weight and sometimes stick to the bottom of cups with condensation.- Although it says shipping is 3-5 weeks, I received the the package within 6 business days.- Would not recommend if you are concern about the color, but can't really complain for the price.

I bought these coasters because they looked simple and I liked the aesthetic. However, I am left with some buyer's remorse:1) There is a "Kona" watermark on the bottom of all the coasters that is not visible in the Amazon picture. Personally I do not like watermarks on my products. It makes me want to grab a brown sharpie. :P2) The coaster is smaller than I was hoping. It fits a normal glass just fine, but it does not fit a mug.3) There was some kind of problem with sourcing this product. It took almost a month for my order to ship, and it held up other important items in my order.I hope the manufacturer makes some improvements to the product.

Ah, man, this was a shame. I liked the look, I liked the price, but the designers clearly didn't think everything through. This is a flat metal surface, which means it is very, very good at creating suction against another flat item when liquid is present. See where I'm going with this? They get stuck to your glass and fall off a moment after you pick it up. Since they are metal and the liquid can't go anywhere, that means you're constantly dropping this on the ground and spilling water on the floor/yourself/your couch. I have had countless guests accidentally drop this and yell "ahhh, get new coasters, seriously!!"

Somehow the stainless steel rusts very easily.

Easily marked. Arrived covered with scratches. Looked used. However, I couldn't find anything else that mer my needs for style and function.

These get style points, but that's about it. They're not stainless. I've had them for a few months and already a few of them are developing small rust spots. Beyond that, they also aren't that effective. They need a lip around the edge or something since steel obviously isn't absorbent at all. Ends up making a big puddle on the coaster or bleeding over the edge, and I have to wipe it up with my shirt.

I thought these would be more solid, when I use them they always stick to the bottom of my cups causing them to just fall on the floor. wish I had gotten the wooden coasters.

While these coasters seem to be of decent quality and value, It was a bit aggravating to find that this "set of 6" is actually a set of 5, and a "holder." It's crappy enough that you really are only getting five, but the fact that the description implies that you receive six AND a holder is misleading, so unless you want to use the "holder" as a coaster, be aware you are really only receiving five coasters.

I just received this item and I'm upset with the fact that it was advertised as having a black border yet it is all the same color. I call false advertisement!

One is not leveled and does not flat on any surface. They are not black on the exterior as pictured.

Item came in an all wood designed style. We specifically bought this because it's solid black on the outside (to match our living room furniture) and then that wood design you see in the photo on the inside of the coaster, giving it a nice elegant look and a smoother transition between the colors and surfaces. Now it just looks like we bought the wrong coasters and doesn't match at all in our living room. Talk about false advertising.

I hate it when I see a picture and I base my purchase of that picture and receive something different. Was this an expensive buy no. Will the ones I got still work, yes. But when you get your item and you open it up and are like this is not what I ordered and look at what you ordered and look at your item and they are different. It's like what the f.......

Not as advertised. The coasters do not have black rims. The entire thing looks like wood and it is almost like the coasters are incomplete, even the bottom has the wood look to it without any grip. And they're extremely light, they literally just push around the table.

Very disappointing coasters. Two big failures:1) these are too small for standard size coffee mugs and wine glasses. Why didn't they make them just a touch bigger?!2) any drink that creates condensation- in other words any drink that is cold- ends up sticking to the coaster when you pick it up... the coaster then falls off mid way to your mouth and dumps the condensation into your lap. Why didn't they bottom weight these things?!In hindsight I wish I had not ordered these.

They rusted immediately!

They fit so tight that I can't even take them out I'm so disappointed

They began rusting after a few weeks and and when you pick up a cup, the coaster sticks to the cup 80% of the time and then falls to the floor. Pretty much the most ineffective coasters ever.

These fit my decor, but sadly once the condensation from the glass rolls down on the coaster the glass STICKS to it and comes up with it when you take a sip.

As others mentioned, after time the moisture will cause the glass to stick to the coaster and the coaster will lift right off the table with your drink. I've caused more messes with these coasters than I would have without them. Additionally, the small grooves are difficult to clean.

These are not a quality item. They look like they were punched out of a machine and had an unhappy person stick the cheap foam on the bottom. It is the kind of foam that can't get wet or it becomes ruined, also the metal almost immediately get discolored stains just from water.
