Great battery life
May 11, 2017
Works great on my neck. I have had a 3 head razor for years and it always seems to miss areas on my neck. This handles long whiskers great but doesn't shave close enough under your nose. I use my 3 head razor for under my nose and a full shave if I need a close as a blade shave. I probably wouldn't purchase again due to its not a close shave. Holds a charge great. I am a shave twice a day guy 5 o'clock shadow around lunch so I shave before bed and when I get up with a 3 head razor this razor lets me shave just once when I get up. I think its a great razor overall other than not shaving close as a blade like my 3 head razor.
Great product, long battery life, comes with a trimmer in the back!!
September 5, 2015
I've never really used foil shavers before and just stuck with using a razor for shaving. I'm really glad I made the switch though -- it's been so convenient not having to go through the shaving process every few days. Three key features really stood out to me when I was using this product. The first one is the battery life. It comes fully charged out of the box and battery life is ridiculously long. This shaver does not require batteries. It comes with it's own charger that you plug into the wall. To give you an example how long the battery life is, I've used this product about 7 times now. After this it for a total of 21 minutes over the course of 3 weeks or so, this shaver is still at 80% battery life, THATS INSANE!

Another cool aspect of this shaver is that it comes with a trimmer in the back. You simply pop it out and turn on the shaver. You use it to remove long hairs or precisely trim down your sideburns or even certain spots that need attention to detail. One thing I should warn you about is that you should take care not to turn the shaver upside down accidentally. If you do, then all the hair that it's shaven off will fall out.

Overall, this product gives a very close shave, I'm very happy with the product and it has certainly shaved me a lot of time and trouble.
What a Deal for a Great Razor!
January 19, 2015
My husband hates shaving. Complains about it all the time. Two Christmases ago I bought him a new razor because he asked for one, but he never really liked the shave it gave him--wasn't close enough and gave him a rash.

This Christmas, as a surprise for my hubby, I scouted all of the razors on Amazon that I could find with a 4-star and higher rating. Many were very expensive, and as I only needed a stocking stuffer at that point, I looked for something cheaper. This had the best reviews, and when my husband tried it, he found out they were right!

He raved and raved about this razor, saying how smooth it glided over his skin and how it didn't irritate it. It cuts very close, as my grateful cheeks and hands can tell you, and his shaves last longer. He also commented on how much faster it is to shave with this razor.

All in all, I would most definitely purchase again and recommend to friends. For the price, it can't be beat!
WOW! What a Super Razor!
January 4, 2014
It would be an understatement for me to say that I was very pleasantly surprised by this razor. I consider it to be one of the best personal purchases I have made in my lifetime of 70+ years. It is solidly built and easy to use, with the flexible shaving head, that moves when you shave the different areas of your face and neck, so the resulting shave is closer.
I have one incredibly tough beard, so I need to shave twice a day - in the morning when I get up, and again in the very late afternoon.
I am in no way embellishing my remarks by saying that the Remington F5-5800A shaves as closely and as cleanly as my standard Gillette razor does, using the Gillette "Mach 2" blades with shaving cream!
It is no very nice to be able to get a good close shave without all the soap and water, and then all the rinsing and some kind of after shave lotion to soothe the skin of your face after a close shave, and sometimes the Neosporin, if you "nick" yourself. Just to push the button and it goes on!!! The handle of the razor also neatly fits into the palm of your hand. And last, but not least, after you initially charge the razor, the first time from an electrical outlet, it recharges very quickly, and only after every 3-4 shaves.
Another important factor, from my point of view , is that it is so easy to clean every day after you do shave. The top of the razor lifts off very easily, and you just blow off the beard particles. Likewise the lower part of the razor where the cutting blades are - you just blow that clean too. So everyday cleaning just takes literally just a couple of minutes.
I am one frugal person at my age with a reduced fixed income. If you are interested in buying this razor, get it through an Amazon purchase. Do not buy it through a retailer, including Walmart. The price for this razor, at Walmart, was $90!!!!
I have taken some time writing this rating, because I am so pleased with it. I have a feeling you will be too!!!!!!!!
Best wishes to all. Philip, Northfield, NH.
OH MY GOD. I AM SAVED!!!!

BEST SHAVER EVER!!!!

To any reading this I am an African-American male getting ready to depart for basic training on Jan 13th (todays date of this review is Oct 12th) I have always had problems with the usage of regular razors and getting razor bumps. However, being clean shaven is part of the requirements and with the pay and duty requirements for regular enlisted I knew I wouldnt be able to go to the barber every other day to stay smooth.

I searched literally for a week before deciding on which particular shaver to buy. I looked at the top expensive models from Braun and Panasonic but couldnt quite bite the bullet cuz of the price tag. After I figured out that I wouldn't spend more than 100 bucks I started looking at features of each specific razor. Keep reading:

The thing that caught my eye about this is the Interceptor Shaving Technology. Basically it has a built in trimmer in between the two foils that will cut hair longer than stubble to stubble length. Every other foil shaver and even rotary shaver I looked at did not have this feature. And even my barber told me that with electric shavers you really have to not let the hair get longer than stubble or else they wont work. This appealed to me as more of a preventative and unique measure but still very beneficial

I originally received this razor on Sept 24th and I have been using it for about 2 and a half weeks and have been using it without fail ever since. In my case a couple weeks before I received it I stopped shaving because I had to let my face heal from trying to use a regular razor so I had about a solid 1/16th inch of hair covering my face. I unboxed it, read the instructions, and it took about 8-10 mins but the result was like I had shaven with a razor. I had no whiskers or stray hairs anywhere and my skin felt baby smooth and not irritated!

I have been using it ever since without fail and still NO RAZOR BUMPS only baby smooth skin!!

It's cordless so all you have to do is make sure it's charged before you use it. Some tips:

1)Don't use alot of pressure when shaving.
2)DO NOT go in circles or fast. Use deliberate kind of slow straight back-forth up/down side to side motions. This thing has a pivot head that adjusts to the contours of your jawline and neck. After using for a little bit you will notice a sound difference when it is actually cutting vs going over smooth hair free skin
3)Make sure your skin is clean and completely dry and not oily
4)Make sure you clean after every use. This helps to keep the razors under the foil able to cut like a regular razor
5)For supreme results use day and night. I personally, use it at night only but my friend who I recommended this to has facial hair that grows extremely fast so he has to use it more but is still baby smooth and bump free like me

I have recommended this to ALL of my friends and think I will purchase another one just in case it ever breaks or whatever. It is that good. LOVE IT!!!!!!

Fantastic freakin razor
April 24, 2017
I read a lot of "great razor for the money" but besides not being able to get wet (which is the case with every other electronic item I own minus one waterproof speaker), what more can you ask for? Normally I wait a while to give a review after I've used something for a fair amount of time, but I can tell you from one use that this thing shaves super smooth like a razor and shaving cream. I am definitely a fan and already recommending this to my friends, (one of whom already owns a Norelco razor and loves it).
but I'm so darn happy that I feel compelled to make an exception here
April 19, 2017
I don't write a lot of reviews, but I'm so darn happy that I feel compelled to make an exception here. I am one of those unfortunate ladies with PCOS and a lot of unwanted facial hair. Hair removal creams either burn or don't work, epilators are TERRIFYING, and there is too much to tweeze. So I eventually just gave up and started using an electric razor. Up until now, I was using a razor designed for women. When that died, on the advice of friends, I looked for a men's razor because, hey, I'm not that attached to pink. AND WOW this thing has made all the difference. With my old razor, it took a many passes over thick stubborn hair to get it off- with this MAYBE a few. Most of the time just one. And because of this- and also because it doesn't pull on the hair the way the old one did- the entire process is now painless, which is so great I could just cry. The motor is also super quiet, which is nice. Having a loud razor is just kind of an annoyance.I haven't had it really long, so I haven't had time to encounter many problems yet. The only real downside I foresee is the eight hour charging time, but the manual says you can use it while plugged in, so that may not be an issue. All around, EXTREMELY happy.
but I couldn't be happier. Now
February 17, 2017
After years of knicking and cutting myself with traditional razors (I have sensitive skin), I decided to give an electric shaver a try. I went back and forth and held off for a while because of reading negative reviews, but I couldn't be happier. Now, I not only don't cut myself, but my skin feels just as smooth (if not smoother) when I use this shaver as it did with other razors. The battery charges in about eight hours and I can usually get two or three good shaves out of it before I need to recharge. I don't have a problem with that.It has another small pullout razor that can be used to trim up sideburns or neck hair. It's portable, quite, holds a good charge, is easy to clean, and does a great job of shaving!Buy it, try it, or you'll never know!
Goodbye, Gillette...
September 29, 2016
I'm not to go too deeply into reviewing a different product; so, I'll be quick about Gillette:At my age of 33, I am not a novice when it comes to shaving and yet, it went wrong... Yet, even though I installed a new set of blades, I bled quite badly after it cut me...They've lost a customer, what else can I say?Anyway, Gillette lost a customer, whereas Philips gained one and yet, it's not the very first electrical shaver I have used.Pros:+ No more risk of getting cut+ No more soaping+ No more rinsing the blades every few seconds+ Blades need to be replaced much, much less frequently+ I just approach a mirror and shave without preparing my skin for it anyhow; so, I can be done in about 5 minutes+ Shaving can be done faster if I move the shaver along my face in circular motion (Good luck trying that one with Gillette...)+ Works either corded or cordless, if you choose to pre-charge itCons:- It needs to be cleaned with a brush (included in the package) after every shave, or if you have one of them usb-powered vacuum cleaners, besides cleaning your keyboard with it, you can clean this shaver as well.- If you don't shave every couple of days, your facial hair grows too long and then this shaver is going to pinch your hair more often than not; however, thanks to the popup trimmer this shaver has, you can take care of them long bristles on your face- Due to the way heads are designed, it will not shave you as close as Gillette does; however, once again, it will not cut you eitherOverall, six positives vs three semi-negatives: it's been a great deal for me!
Great bang for the buck!
December 24, 2015
I've been a Norelco user for many decades and must say that this is a great, replacement shaver! I've tried a Norelco 4600, which was slow, didn't shave as close, can't be plugged in and used it if the battery is low, and cost more than triple the amount of this 2100. That's right, the performance of this shaver is far superior over the more expensive Norelco. Also, saw the positive reviews for this shaver and am glad I got this one. Highly recommended!
Best Norelco ever
April 3, 2013
Over the years, I've had a number of electric shavers, most of them made by Norelco. I bought this one because it was more convenient to have a cordless one when I was recovering from an injury. This one is so quiet that, at first, I wasn't sure it was working! It also cuts closer and better that previous Norelco's I've owned. They must have re-designed the heads or something to get it to cut so smoothly and quietly.

the best brand quallity just one advice to share
July 14, 2017
Always the number one product for a men care out there, it works perfectly, is sharp, easy to clean, good price, best reliability and the best pro are the new battery life indicator.
Yet, is just four stars because the size of the shaver. When you shave you face completely it won't be any problem but when you keep a mustache or some facial hair style the problem comes with the size, you have to be carful when you got closer to the line of your mustache or facial hair because it can mess up the style the older version are just smaller giving you space and better mirror reflection to work on the style
It Is Fine, But LOUD
June 5, 2017
My husband wanted this so I ordered it for him. He likes it, but it is VERY LOUD. I always know when he is shaving because I can hear it all over the house. If noise doesn't bother you, then it should be fine. Remember I said it is LOUD.
Great Razor
April 25, 2017
I really like this shaver. This is the first foil shaver I have owned, but even without having others to compare it to I know it is good. It is really easy to clean and gives me a really close shave. The most impressive thing about this razor though is the battery life. It lasts a LONG time. Now granted, I'm not a super hair man, but being in the military I do have to shave every day. I use this razor for about 2 minutes a day, every day of the week, and I only have to charge it about every 6 weeks. In fact, the manufacturer suggests that every 6 months you completely drain the battery and then charge it for 24 hours to maintain battery life, well, when I was trying to do that the razor showed 10% battery life left. I had to let that thing run for dang near 20 minutes to get it to run down.

If there is one down side to this razor it is the trimmer mechanism that sits between the foils. Occasionally you can catch the edge of you lip in them and it will nick you. Besides that, I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a foil razor.
I wanted to try a film razor and looked for ones with good reviews and found this one
September 6, 2016
I was looking for a replacement to my Norelco triple header that I had used for years, actually two of these. I wanted to try a film razor and looked for ones with good reviews and found this one. Not having actually used one of these I needed advice from actual users thus the reviews. I have waited for quite some time to add my review for this razor so that I could properly review it.

+On the plus side the razor charges quickly and maintains the charge for quite a few shaves, not what I was use to with my old razor. Of course the lithium batteries verses the ni-cad batteries of my old razor design is significant.
The Remington gives a close smooth shave, but not as close as the Norelco. It does do a better job shaving close to my mustache and sideburns. The round heads of the Norelco tend to not fit to the edges of the sideburns or mustache as well.

The only sightly disappointing part and it is only slightly is the razor seems to drop clippings rather than catching them sometimes. I have found that emptying the razor each shave reduces the amount of dropped clippings but not completely.

Overall I like this razor and would recommend it to anyone looking for a razor in this price range and for anyone not wanting an extremely close shave due to ingrown hair problems from shaving to close.
Overall good shaver
October 2, 2015
I bought this to replace my Panasonic shaver that no longer holds a full charge. The fact that you can use this while it's charging AND it holds a 60min charge is what sold me. I use this to shave my legs (yes, I'm female) and I could shave 5 legs on a full charge (that's 2.5 full shaves for people with 2 legs). I would give this 5 starts because the battery holds 60min as promised and the feel and function are both good, but I have to pass this shaver 3-6 times over each section of my leg before all of the hairs of that section get clipped. Yes, my leg hair is thinner and less dense than face hair and yes, it grows in different directions, so of course it wouldn't be 100% functional for my legs, but my panasonic got the hairs in 1-3 passes and as a foil shaver I still expect it to do it's job.

Despite that minor inconvenience it gives a smooth and pain-free shave and again, the features on this thing are great. The pivoting head is very comfortable, the weight of it doesn't make my arm tired, the ability to use it while charging is very useful, and the little pop-out shaver is perfect for bikini lines. I also like the charge indicator so I know how many "legs" I have left before the next recharge.

Basic Razor, better than most in its price range.
July 8, 2016
I bought this for my teenage son while it was on sale and it has worked out to be fantastic. My husband likes the Norelco brand so much he only buys their brand. This particular product is very basic in comparison to some of the higher end Norelcos' but for the price I think it is a great razor. It gives my son a close shave, no rash, and holds a charge quiet nicely. We have had this for over 6 months and have had no issues with it. It is better than most razors in its price range.
Really Good in Some Ways, Just OK in Others - My Plus's and Minus's.
January 14, 2016
Works pretty well. I've shaved with blades for years and finally wanted something portable, take in the car if need-be, low hassle and electric. Also, I was tired of bleeding after a blade shave. My expectations in this purchase and results were:Good Value +1Good warranty +1Good build quality +1Feels good in the hand/good balance/lightweight +1Quiet +1As good a shave as a blade -1As good a shave as I'd hope for in this razer -1Easy to maintain +1Acceptable battery life +1Quick charging -1No Wall Wart charger (ie direct plug into 110v) +1I got in on the $5 coupon deal so - for the money - I'd rate it pretty high. I'm going 4 stars overall. I do believe that the shaving head RPM's on this shaver, which are faster on higher end Norelco's, are probably the reason the shave quality isn't as good as I was hoping for - but, I'm happy and consider this to be a good purchase. It does come with a money back guarantee. All things considered, it gets my recommendation.
Budget Electric razor, tried and true
January 13, 2016
The Phillips Norelco 6948XL/41 Shaver 2100 is the second electric shaver that I have purchased from the Phillips line of razors.Overall the product is boxed nicely and has everything needed to maintain the product including a charger and small brush to remove debris. The razor itself has a great build quality with a light weight in the hand and an ergonomic grip. The performance of the razor was somewhat expected giving an adequate shave but not very close one. The flexible rotors make it easy to hit problem areas of the face and it is easy to get a quick shave (from stubble, not a full beard) within 2-3 passes in a circular motion. The accessory trimmer is also useful for sideburns, tricky mustache hairs and between the eyebrows. Some electric razors have been known to cause irritation and breakouts, especially dry razors. The Norelco did not exhibit this characteristic provided my face was warm and slightly damp after a shower. Doing this opens up the pores and softens the hairs. No shaving cream required. This product delivers in being a budget razor with the versatility of being rechargeable and portable. It is great in a pinch when a quick shave is needed but of course cannot replace a good wet shave. Overall I am satisfied with this purchase.
Great shaver for the price
January 11, 2016
I've never owned an electric shaver, but I decided I would purchase this one due to its price.I was definitely not dissappointed.Pros:QuietNo razor burnCheapCons:Doesn't shave as close as razors.Details:It can be a hassle to shave, especially when you're low on time. This shaver makes shaving so quick and easy. I can get a reliable shave in 10 to 20 seconds. It doesn't shave as close as razors, but it's doesn't make a visible difference. The only way I know that it isn't shaving as close is when I run my hands over my face. Because of how the shaver works, I can easily use it to trim hairs on other parts of my body, including my back. With razors, it made it very difficult because of the angle I was holding my razor. Finally, it allows for shaving without razor burns. It's really gentle on the skin. For its price, I'd recommend it.
This is a pretty good razor
November 19, 2015
This is a pretty good razor. It is obviously not the best that money can buy but it gets the job done. I let it charge overnight and by the morning it was fully charged. The manual says that it should last 30 minutes on a single charge and I have found that to be true. It seems as the battery gets lower the blades start to spin a little slower and the motors tends to bog down while shaving. It takes a week for your face to get used to shaving with an electric razor if you have been using a traditional razor in the past. The hair trimmer in the back works well for sideburns and trimming the hair around my ears.If you are looking to try an electric razor to save you time and money on disposable blades this one would be a good place to start. It won't shave as close as a blade but it gets me through the day.
I don't like electric shavers as a rule
November 16, 2015
I don't like electric shavers as a rule. No matter how good they are the shave is never as good as a blade. Having said that I found this little shaver to be perfect for an every other day shave. Plus the pop up attachment works great for sideburns and that gross ear and back of the neck hair.

No Longer Works Without A Plug
August 25, 2017
This product worked for me for almost 3 years. It didn't ever shave as closely or as smoothly as my Braun electric shaver, but, the product is cheaper. So. I didn't expect it to. Unfortunately, about a week ago, the product no longer works without plugging it into the wall. In other words, I am no longer able to use the shaver without plugging it into the wall. That's unfortunate, as this is the razor that I carried with me in my smaller size travel bag.
Bought two of these electric razors, one was excellent, the other did not shave well
November 13, 2016
I have rewritten my review of this Remington electric razor, originally giving it 5 stars based on the first one I purchased, but after buying a second one to replace the first, was really surprised what a big difference in quality there was. The first one I bought shaved exceptionally well, with a fairly quick and close shave both to the face and neck and directly under the nose. When I lost the first razor I replaced with the same model. The second razor did not shave as close or as cleanly, so that I have to go over the same parts of my face numerous times, and still end up finishing the hard to get places with a Gillette disposable. For the price, the Remington works, but the vast difference in the quality of the shave between the two I purchased was really surprising.
Miss my old Remington MS2 390
July 24, 2016
This shaver doesn't seem to shave quite as close as my old Remington MS2 390; I have to shave a bit longer (ie take a few more passes) to get the same results. I also prefer the front trimmer on the MS2 390--on this F5-5800 it pops up perpendicular on the rear and the length of this shaver makes it more awkward to tilt the trimmer when required. My biggest gripe though is that the power button falls right where your thumb wants to be when gripping the shaver, making it easy to turn the shaver off by mistake while shaving. It gets the job done eventually though, so I rate it OK. Still, it would be nice if manufacturers didn't obsolete stuff like shavers, shoes, etc. every year, thereby making buying replacement items such a cr&pshoot.
but I like the way it is stored in the shaver's body
June 30, 2015
This shaver recharges very quickly, the run time is very satisfactory in that it uses up very little of the battery's charge, it does not shave as close as previous Remington shavers I have owned, I feel the foil guard is a little thicker than in previous shavers, I do not use the trimmer, but I like the way it is stored in the shaver's body, it is handy and out of the way at the same time. My personal rating of Three Stars reflects the smoothness of the shave, it requires repeated coverage of a shaved area to "almost" obtain a nice smooth result, which is the only disappointment I have in this model of Remington shavers. If I am going out to a more formal event I use an old Model 5MF1, non-rechargeable, shaver, I have had this shaver for more than Twenty years and it still works, heavy and cumbersome, but shave close like a blade. So if you're wanting a score, between 1 (low) and 10 (high) I would rate the F5-5800 about a 8.5 or 9. A closer/smoother shave on the first go around would bring it up to a solid 10, in my estimation.
Know What You're Buying
February 18, 2015
I am a minister, so I try to keep clean shaven as best as I can. I've tried every kind of razor and shaving product under the sun (disposable razors, safety razors, straight razors). I have sensitive skin, and shaving with anything other than an electric razor every day wreaks havoc on my skin. I have been using electric razors for about 10 years now. I have had 2 Remingtons, 2 Norelcos, and 1 Panasonic. 1 Norelco and the Panasonic were high-end razors, the others were mid to low level razors.

My facial hair is pretty thick and grows quickly. Know that electric razors do not shave as close as a manual razor (which is ok with most people) and so you will have to shave everyday if you want to stay smooth. The only reason I purchased this razor was because I accidentally dropped and broke a piece of my Panasonic that was irreplaceable. On to the razor:

AESTHETICS: This razor is fairly nice looking. Not as sleek as some high end models, but that doesn't really matter. It's pretty heavy and feels sturdy. It's a lot wider than most of the other razors I've ever handled but I actually like that.

POWER: This is the biggest strength of the razor to me. Man it will cut through any thickness of facial hair.

NOISE: It is noisier than other razors I've had, but that may not be an issue for you.

SPEED: Due to it's power, it shaves very quickly.

COMFORT/SHAVE QUALITY: This is where I was disappointed. After using this razor, my face was severely irritated for the next few hours. To make things worse, the shave wasn't as close as what I was used to with my Panasonic ES8243. After all of the positive reviews, I was kind of disappointed.

IF YOU READ ANY OF THIS REVIEW, PLEASE READ THIS! The reason I titled this "know what you're buying" is because this is a GREAT razor if:

- You have thin, smooth facial hair
- Can get away with shaving less often
- Are on a budget

If any of those apply to you, this is the razor to get! I do honestly believe for the money it is a good razor. If you are used to higher end models though, you will be disappointed.

If you have thick, coarse, fast growing facial hair (and sensitive skin), I'd go ahead and spend the extra money and get a nicer razor because this one is pretty rough on your skin (and I know because I've had other models that leave no irritation). I ended up returning this razor and opted for another Panasonic after debating between it and the Braun Series 7.

Good price and performance to see if these are your thing.
July 1, 2016
This is my first electric shaver which I got due to having a good price and good reviews for a starter model as I anticipated I would eventually want a higher end model if this one worked out. I've been using it now for just over a year, and it gets the job done well enough. There are areas that I really have to work at around my neck for this to actually trim, and I get a kind of rash in those areas for a few hours because of it. It works best when the stubble is not too long obviously. The blades are still sharp as I clean them after every other use quite thoroughly, and it cuts just as well now as when I first got it after daily use so that's pretty awesome. But I plan on upgrading to a higher end model once the blades do start getting to the point of replacement.

April 12, 2016
After 3 months of use, the battery struggles to hold a charge more than 4-5 days of normal use (about 10 minutes of use). Even after recharging it, the shaver sounds like it is drops to half power (sounds weaker than when I first bought it). The company said they will replace it. I previously had a NiCd Norelco model for 10 years without ANY issues (although my older model is much louder). I regret not buying the more advanced Norelco models like the 4500 series.6/15/2016 update: The replacement so far has been holding a charge for a longer period of time. While it does not have the bells and whistles of more expensive models, it does do its job well for the price, so I upgraded the rating to 3 stars. However I am curious how much better the more advanced models work so I will eventually upgrade.
For the price I think it is a good deal. Had I known the effects of a ...

The power cord connection for my high end Phillips Norelco shaver from 1999 finally started to fail making the shaver unusable. I looked for something that took the same blades and found this one. My main complaint is that the motor does not rotate the blades as fast as my old one. It takes a little longer to shave because of it and the spinning blades sound a little chincy. I paid $120 for my last one and it lasted 17 years. I paid around $27 for this one and I don't expect it to last as long. I gave it three stars because it still gives a reasonable shave even it if it is a little slower than my old one. For the price I think it is a good deal. Had I known the effects of a slower spin speed I might have gone with a more expensive model. I'll keep using this one until I exhaust my extra sets of blades.
Works ok for me, but my own hair is the one that's unforgiving.
January 12, 2016
Writing objective reviews for things like this is always difficult because this is one of the things that affects the individual. There's nothing really wrong with the product. It cuts. However, it does not work for me simply because my hair is so coarse that when it grows back it gives me bumps (I'm Black, with the coarsest hair possible). However, from an object standpoint, it does cut close. Just make sure that your skin is dry and that you put enough pressure. Hairs are more likely to be missed if you do not. Is it super easy? No. Does it get the job done without needing a razor blade and shave cream? Yes.
Ok. But get the next model up if you can afford it.
January 5, 2016
It seems impossible to get reliable information on shavers. I have been a steady Norelco user for decades. I have tried mid-price foil shavers, the kind my father preferred, but always return to Norelcos. In the past, I got the cheapest model. In my experience, the product lines were similar, and the simplest model worked as well and lasted as long as the higher-priced ones. When my old Norelco seemed to be shaving less closely, I decided to replace it with the 2100 series. This Shaver 2100 is a good product. But it is noticeably inferior to the old one that I was using. The old one shaved more closely than the brand-new one, and the motor on the 2100 series is less powerful. My conclusion: shaver 2100 is probably better than many other brands on the market, and it is a worthy replacement for a blade. This explains the high consumer ratings. BUT I returned mine and spent more for the Norleco model with the "dual precision" blades. I am glad I did.Norelco honors its warranty.
Not Great, But Decent. Good First Shaver
December 17, 2015
First impression is that this is a decent shaver. I have a medium beard and this shaver is totally adequate. But there's quite a bit of backtracking if you let your beard go for a couple days. When I first turned it on, I'll admit I was concerned because I didn't hear the high-pitched whine that I'm familiar with created by faster revolutions of the heads (as judged by past shavers). Obviously more revolutions means more cutting. But, like I said, it does the job and no chaffing so far.If you're in a super rush in your morning routine (as many folks are, simply by preference) you may find that this isn't the shaver for you because of the slight need for backtracking. Or if you have a heavier growth, look for something with a more powerful motor - I haven't tried any myself, but the P-Norelco series 7000 and up have about 3 times the RPMs of their lower models. For a shaver under $30, however, I can't imagine you'd find anything better.

Electric Razor???
September 20, 2017
At my age 83 I expected an electric razor would be one with a cord like the wonderful Sunbeam one that served me for about 35 years or so. Not a battery powered unit that does a fair job. Too much trouble to return so I will just keep it and use it now and then. Still believe it should not be labled as electric when it is battery powered
Thought it was good but it wasn't
December 10, 2016
I really thought I had made a good purchase when I bought this electric shaver, but it only lasted me for about 3 weeks, then it stopped working, and I had to stop shaving. So, considering that I had only had it 3 weeks, I have no other option except to say it's a piece of junk! Too bad, it looked good, and worked good for those 3 weeks, but then it was garbage, it would start, but only run a couple of seconds and shut down, then I restarted it, and it would again only run about 10 seconds and again shut down. I cleaned it about 3 times, but it still would not work, so off in the trash can it went. Good luck with your purchases, mine was really bad!
My first review. I had to say something.
August 28, 2016
This is my first review. I had to say something. I bought this shaver to replace my Remington's F4790, which I have been using for many years. I bought it because the reviews were so favorable and because it also had a good price. This shaver did not shave close from day one and has actually has gotten worse. I had to go back to my old shaver. And the trimmer on this shaver was much more awkward to use. It flipped out from the side in the middle perpendicular to the shaver. To me, it was less steady to trim with. It was like the designer who designed this never used an electric shaver.
Great shavers, but a serious design problem leads to trouble
August 3, 2016
I have owned two of these shavers -- I loved them at first, but they have a design flaw. There is a screw at each end of the pivoting head that, in effect, allows the head and screen to move to adjust to the contours of your face. With each of these shavers, one of the screws came loose and fell out after 5-8 weeks. I was able to put the screw back in place the first time this happened, but it fell out again and went down the bathroom sink drain. I have no idea when the second shaver lost its screw since it went down the drain unnoticed. Because of the missing screw, the shaver head vibrates noisily and moves excessively, diminishing the closeness and quality of your shave. The shaver becomes unusable. Because of this problem, I abandoned the whole pivoting head concept and replaced the Remingtons with a Braun Series 3 shaver that does not have the pivoting feature. I have been very satisfied with its performance.
No thanks

I bought this after reading advice somewhere to buy a men's electric shaver instead of a women's electric shaver because of the quality. I wanted to trade in my Venus Divine razor because buying refill cartridges for it is so expensive, and because it sounded like it would be a lot more fun then shaving in the shower. Well, I was wrong. I'm still buying refill cartridges for my Venus divine. The Remington doesn't make my legs feel smooth at all. I tried a friends Braun Series 5 on one of my legs, and that was so much smoother and closer of a shave. I don't know if shaving your face with it is good or not. But for legs 👎This is garbo ladies. Save your money on this one.

Disappointing
July 1, 2017
I normally use a foil razor, but I recently decided to give rotary razors a try. I bought this one because it was relatively cheap and I thought it would give me an idea of what rotary razors are like. Unfortunately, I found this one to be absolutely useless: I had to apply significant pressure before any hairs were removed, and ended up with quite a bit of irritation as a result. It's entirely possible that I was doing it wrong, but I'm also tempted to think that getting a decent rotary razor at this price is not going to happen.
Not for me, takes too long, does not shave close.
June 22, 2017
I really wanted to love this shaver and I wanted to be able to shave quickly at the sink or anywhere. I'm not comparing this shaver to others brands, I'm comparing electric shavers to blade shavers. I bought a no-fog mirror for the shower and started shaving in the shower about 5 years ago. I'm in there anyway, it's fast, and you get a super close shave. The philips takes way too long to shave cleanly and needs many passes across the same areas, it gets really frustrating. I'm going back to blades and the shower.
Good at 25.00 but too slow for higher rating.
February 19, 2016
I have been using this new shaver for about a month, and I evidently have a tough beard, but this shaver hardly shaves any better than the 14.00 Panasonic ES3831K Single Blade Travel Shaver (which i have found to be the best travel shaver). Besides not shaving much closer if at all (except on the neck) the blades on the Norelco 6948XL/41 simply rotate too slow, even though i recharged it as directed, using it until the batteries seemed to run down and them recharging it (about 10 hours). It does have a standard beard trimmer, and it is a little easier to use than the Panasonic due to its 3 floating heads, and I was able to get this shaver for 25.00 thank God, so for that price i give it 3 stars, and those with softer beard likely find it to be better.
Could be better
February 4, 2016
This razor gets the job done, but it's not really a smooth shave really, compared to my last electric shaver which I'm not sure what the brand was.I get a pretty mild amount of stubble for a guy, and I wanted one of these I could use when I don't have time to use a regular razor.I'll spend more next time and get something better. I'd also like to have a charger for my car, which this doesn't have.Update September 2016:It's still working, but I just don't feel like it works that well. I don't even get a ton of stubble, and it seems to take forever to shave, and the shave isn't super. Currently researching it's replacement.
Gutless
December 31, 2015
I was really surprised by this one. I've been a pretty dedicated fan to Norelco shavers for a long time. I always expect quality and good results. This is a cheaper model than most so maybe I should have taken that into account but the fact is, this is much lower quality than I'm used to from this company. The motor inside is very weak. If you have thick beard hair like I do, it takes several times to clear an area with this model and even then I had to finish it off with a safety razor. At more than one point it hesitated as if struggling to keep going smoothly. The power button is also poorly placed. Right where most people's thumbs would be when holding it to shave. I accidentally turned it off a few times as a result.I've never had these kinds of problems with Norelco before. I'll be seeking a replacement for this one however.
Same as my previous model, just feels less powerful
February 19, 2014
I hate that Norelco doesn't sell replacement batteries and discontinues shaving heads after a while. My previous model was working fine, but the battery wouldn't recharge and even the corded operation started being a problem because it first charges the battery (which is just about dead) and the battery powers the heads. This model is just the same, so I know I'll have to replace it eventually, even if none of the parts actually break.Plus, they stopped making the shaving heads for my previous model and I know they will eventually discontinue them for this one too.I bought this one thinking it would be just like the previous model. In many ways it's similar to the previous model, but it feels like the motor is less powerful or somehow just spins slower.Overall, not a bad shaver for the price, but the tricks the manufacturer plays feel cheap to me. Make your money on the blades, not on people having to buy a new device every so often.

Least Pleasant Shave of my Life
October 28, 2017
I used this shaver exactly once, and it was the least pleasant shave of my life. The cutter head between the foils grabs and yanks at anything longer than stubble, without really cutting through it (the foils do all the work). Additionally, the other (retractable) cutter head is located in the stupidest place (on the side of the shaver), where you are unable to use it at anything other than a 45 degree angle to your skin. Ow ow ow.It's a shame because my previous shaver was also a Remington model, which I liked so much that I used for a decade until it totally fell apart. I don't know what happened, but I can tell you this shaver was not designed by the same people.
Worked for about a month and now won't hold a charge.
October 3, 2017
Bought this as a gift for my disabled uncle in mid August. He called in the third week of September and told me it quit working. I have tried charging and it always shows that the battery is dead. I am beginning the process to return it.Oct 7 - Amazon customer service handled return promptly. Replacement scheduled to arrive tommorrow.
MY REGRETS IN PURCHASING A REMINGTON RAZOR
August 29, 2017
Although I bought it on May 5 ,2017, I have not been happy with it .not sharp enough. I am back using Good NEWS RAZORS unfortunately and risk cutting my face! It was ordered around the time I was hospitalized the first on May 27 ,Rehab in Kline Galland Home from June 1 to July 3 ,and then UWMC again July 23 ,and rehab in Shoreline Health and rehab from July 26 to August 12, While in hospital and rehab, I used the disposable razors ,and not ELECTRIC RAZOR. I wish I could return it because I have not been using the Remington razor. When I wrote this review, I was hoping that a refund be processed ASAP since I have been unhappy with it besides being in the Hospital two times this SUMMER . The times I have tried to use it , it has not shaved sharp enough. I think I have been 'RIPPED OFF" for $44.00!----Maurice F Shaw, DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER!
Not a clean enough shave/no longer holds a charge
July 3, 2017
Doesn't shave well enough to not have to take a razor to stubble after. Can no longer hold a charge.
It doesn't do a great job no matter what I do beforehand to prepare
July 1, 2017
Not a big fan. It doesn't do a great job no matter what I do beforehand to prepare. It always misses spots no matter how slowly I go or how often I clean it out. The only way to get every spot is to go against the grain which ends up irritating my skin. It doesn't save me anytime compared to using a normal razor and shaving cream, but at least it saves me money. I'd recommend spending more and getting a better model because that's what I'm going to do.
For that it's terrible. It takes forever
April 10, 2017
My only real use is for pre-shaving my head before using a razor. For that it's terrible. It takes forever, compared to rotary shaver I used to use, doesn't get most of the hair, and it sheds everything that it does cut, so I have to stand in the tub. I would definitely not recommend it for someone using it on the head. I don't know why someone would answer that it works for heads. I'm buying a different shaver and hate this one.

Guess you get what you pay for...
March 29, 2017
I bought this for my husband; it is very light weight and takes a very long time to charge for a very short run time. He also said that he felt as if it runs too slow. It actually pulls hairs out rather than cut them. It all of a sudden just stopped working this past week. It still turns on and sounds like it was spinning, but it is not shaving at all.
such a waste as i could buy Brown or Remington which has ...
November 28, 2016
i got this product on May 2016 since then, i purchased new blades twice for that product !!! such a waste as i could buy Brown or Remington which has much better and long lasting bladesi will never get this product again. the machine seems great but if i need new blades every two months its a waste of time and money !!Omri Linder
Not Such a Great Product
August 7, 2016
Not a great product at all. Wasn't a close shave, didn't shave correctly (meaning it shaves in spots), also very painful in my opinion. The only good thing was it held a decent charge.
The charger that comes with it is a cheap all-purpose charger
June 23, 2016
The charger that comes with it is a cheap all-purpose charger. The picture I am sharing: On the left, the shipped charger. On the right, an older norelco charger I had for 4 years. You can clearly see the differences. And it wasn't a mistake, I already replaced this item once and received the same item again.
Cheap and Terrible
May 25, 2016
I wasted my money. For a $60 razor this is a joke. It is cheaply made, the blades are rough and is all around low quality. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
I hate that I paid for this
March 19, 2016
I hate that I paid for this. I never like leaving a negative review but I bought this product because of the positive ones. I will use it, then use an actual razor to clean up the stubble that it misses. This is my second electric razor and I regret paying for it.
