Five Star Reviews: | 60% I like the synthetic material build along with the well-thought reinforcement ... August 12, 2017 I bought these gloves looking for an alternative to the price-ever-increasing/quality-ever-decreasing Mechanix Impact gloves I used to buy. These don't offer the rubber impact ribs on the fingers, but I don't need them for that. But you know what they do offer? Comfort, longevity, and washability. I like the synthetic material build along with the well-thought reinforcement patches in heavy wear areas, these patches actually being functional to protect softer material in heavy wear areas without being restrictive or limiting dexterity. I use these for general house projects, building, and yard work. AND, enjoy that I can just throw 'em in the wash along with my work clothes when I'm done, and hang up to dry after. They're a little warmer and less breathable than I'm used to, but other than that, zero complaints. Fit is pretty true to size, maybe a touch large in the hand body, but fingers, thumb, and webs are spot on. Good riddance Mechanix, Hello CLC! Best glove for the working man! August 4, 2017 Great fit. Breathable material. Durable material on the palms and finger tips (where it counts). Padding on knuckles is not needed, but does not hinder use. Back side of thumb is terry-cloth for wiping sweat from your eyes with either hand, a god-send!Better for daily use than any 5.11 glove I've used. Much better than what I've seen on the shelves at the local hardware store.I will buy another pair of these when I wear through them! Great glove February 4, 2014 I have one pair of these gloves - I normally use them in my shop but lately have been wearing them while gardening so they are quite dirty and no longer suitable for handling clean boards, plywood, etc. So I just ordered a second set. As someone else posted I am able to pick up washers from a flat surface so tactile feel is good as well as protection. They seem durable.I highly recommend this glove. sofa king awesome October 29, 2013 I'm a hauler, I load a trailer full of misc junk part time. All in all my gloves see a fair amount of work, but nothing too insane, I'm 140lb for god sake. I went through every pair of FG(home depot brand) gloves in 2 weeks, I bought the toughest ones they had and wore through 3 pairs in 6 weeks. When I worked at HD in 06 we carried CLC and I have had a pair since then that I could never kill, until i lost them.I have had these gloves for 6 weeks now and I cant kill them, I've even washed them 3 times and they still look new, I will buy these again if I can ever wear them out. Thanks CLCUpdate, Just bought another pair, I have finally worn the stitches themselves off the grip pads and at some point i sliced through the side of one of the index fingers. The only problem I ran into with these gloves was funk, like glove funk from summer work, once you let the funk get in its hard to get out, I've probably washed my gloves 15+ times now, the problem is gone and my solution was to leave my gloves in the windshield to dry out. Ill try and wash them again and do a 6mo side by side photo. Works well for gardening October 16, 2013 I bought these gloves to wear while gardening. I like having gloves to protect my hands from blisters while raking, scrapes while scooping debris from the ground and punctures when picking up pine cones. If you're handling thorny rose bushes then you will want something with more protection. I can feel the thorns through the fabric of these gloves. Overall, they are really comfortable due to their flexibility and breathability. On top of that, I can maintain quite a bit of dexterity when handling outdoor power equipment. I've used them for about 40 hours of lawn work and they're holding up well. I'm really happy with these gloves. Oh yeah, gonna order a second pair for backup! June 5, 2013 I built a wrap around deck with sheet metal roof, I hold all screws with my left index finger and thumb while using a power drill in the right. As you can imagine I tear up most gloves daily. So I took and cut the thumb and index finger off some cheap leather farm gloves and duct taped them to my Mechanix gloves. It worked okay for awhile, but even that didn't last. Then I found these jewels, granted I can already notice some wear, but they aren't shrinking from sweat or tearing at the seams. I have already driven 400 hex headed, galvanized two inch deck screws, and 480 one inch with grommet sheet metal screws. The gloves still look new! Thank all of you for your reviews, Thanks to y'all I no longer have pieces of metal stuck in my thumb and index finger! I owe y'all one.UPDATE: still awesome, I have never had a glove this perfect. 4000 galvanized screws later, no wear, no tear. These are the best gloves I ever owned.UPDATE (12/20/2013): I lost count of the screws I put in, not 1 tear on the gloves. They are amazing, I did buy a second pair so just in case they run out of a good thing! | 52% Great quality June 14, 2016 About 15 years ago I bought a dozen gloves like these from another supplier and the quality was great and lasted a long time under heavy use. I went back to that same supplier, about a year ago and bought another dozen. When they arrived the quality was so bad they ripped the first time I wore them. They had no value at all and I tossed them out. These gloves had a pretty good rating so I tried them. They are great. Will buy again. My husband's Favorite! ~ Truck Driver February 21, 2016 He has used these for 13 years. Loves this brand! Prior to that he was a mechanic and wouldn't recommend these but as a truck driver he loves the open wrist for easy on and off for pulling chains and then taking switching to a pen to write up a slip. His whole company has started using these and actually sell them in the office. So they are loved by many. Perfect old fashion heavy duty glove. November 18, 2015 Thick, large heavy duty gloves at a great price. I used these to demo my bathroom with the tile and the metal sheets on the wall that most bathrooms were made with in the 50's. Last one I did I tore the heck out of my hands. These gloves saved me lots of nicks and cuts. Also great for weeding and moving furniture. Don't wast your money on fancy gloves that look nice on dirty jobs. These were made for dirty jobs. A thorny problem October 28, 2015 I have a lot of thorny weeds to pull and with regular garden gloves, you still get stuck. The thick leather palms work great. No more getting stabbed by thorns. buy these before the price goes up September 24, 2015 Excellent quality and price. Can't find these where I live. I have average size male hands and the large size is a little too big. But they work great and I'm enjoying them. And what a great price. Depends On Intended Use August 23, 2015 Gets five stars for three pairs at a reasonable price. These gloves are not for daily heavy duty work. If you use them for light duty occasional work around the house, etc. then this is a good deal. If you use them daily for rough work buy a thicker glove designed for that reason. |
Four Star Reviews: | 16% Good for 1 work season, depending. September 18, 2017 Good, breathable, affordable. Nothing special. Used it for a whole season of landscaping. Used with shovels, raking, picks, handling large rocks. Starting to get holes around the fingers from handling rock, but it got the job done. Wish it had wrap-around finger tip protection and sturdier stitching. The softer finger lining let it some thorns/pricklies. The sweat-wipe was a nice feature. Good Gloves September 12, 2016 These are a pretty decent pair of gloves. I do a lot of construction/carpentry work, and I found that these gloves offered decent protection, but overall I was still getting a few splinters here and there with these gloves. If you're just doing basic DIY stuff at home, these will more than suffice, but if you actually make a living with your hands and need some proper protection, these gloves don't quite cut it as much as the Husqvarna Heavy Duty Leather gloves. They are literally the exact same price on Amazon, both pair of gloves go for $17.23 at the time of writing this review.I'd suggest grabbing the heavier duty Husqvarna's if you do any wood work and need some great protection for the hands. Otherwise, if you're just using these from time to time for various projects, I think these are a great pair of gloves for that purpose. You can get a pair here:https://www.amazon.com/Husqvarna-531030767-Heavy-Leather-Gloves/dp/B001CRLFCM Great but smell after heavy use... September 3, 2016 I have been using these gloves for over a month, with some pretty heavy usage. They hold up well, are comfortable, and protective with good flexibility and offering good dexterity for more fine tasks. I like the wrist strap for some tasks, but leave it undone for others. I would like the strap to be a little longer as the circumference of my wrist are such that the velcro strap would be better if it were longer. The reason that it gets a 4 star and not a 5 star is that the glove smells after you have been using it for a time; it breaths well (that is the good) but traps the odors. I washing them this week and they smell and look great.....just never felt a need to wash any other pair of gloves. Now they look like new again! Better than average gloves January 16, 2016 Average gloves. Nothing special. The mesh between the pads will allow stickers to penetrate. Fairly comfortable right out of the box, no break-in required.Update:After using these for a year, the right glove (right handed) is blown out. However, I have ordered another pair because I do like them.I use them for handling large (2-man) rocks, cutting timber, and using shovels and picks. Full leather gloves make my hands sweat, and these seem cooler.Greg Love these gloves November 27, 2015 Love these gloves. I mainly use them for riding my bike, to give me some protection in case I wipe out, and to take a little chill off (don't buy them for warmth, though, they don't do much). They were tight at first, and stretched to fit my hand beautifully within a few hours of wearing them and they just keep getting better. I love the color, it is a nice dark brownish/rust orange, not a bright orange. Velcro wrist straps work great. Palm and finger tip padding is great. Padding on the knuckes does not quite line up properly, but that does not bother me much and does not affect comfort. I have not used them for work, but I suspect the extra layer of leather on the finger tips would affect tactile sense a bit. It is not a problem for my application. I think it would be fine for say, roofing, where you have to pick up roofing nails and screws...plenty of feel for that, but they would not work for a mechanic who has to be able to feel small parts. I wore them while working on a knife and it was nice to have an extra layer of protection just in case. Nicely padded May 30, 2013 I used these gloves for moderate outdoors use, carrying wood, rocks, yard tools, and that is the most that should be done with them. For example, pulling vines from fences can wear them out as well as your fingers. Be advised they are not weatherproof. A hole was punctured into one when handling chain link fencing but in a month, the hole did not expand. Another tear was made at the cuff where I pull the glove onto my hand. They do fit comfortably, get on and off easily and quickly, and the padding is a benefit. This version has better protection than Custom Leathercraft's lower cost option, which would tear at the fingertips. | 24% Good light-duty gloves April 12, 2017 These are not high quality, thick gloves, but they work well enough for me, a guy who just needs some gloves while he's working in his yard. I got them in a pack of 3, and I have not yet worn out the first pair, so I anticipate not having to order another set of gloves for another year or two. (I've used the pair about once a week for the last six months.)Probably not suitable if you're a professional lumberjack, but I've used them when cutting down trees in my own yard and they work to protect my hands and keep them baby soft. Raking and a Rolling in my BlackCanyon Large Economy gloves! November 8, 2016 Good for getting dirty work done. Just strong enough to use for a season but not so expensive that you'll cry when they get covered in mule crap and you need to throw them out. multi use gloves July 25, 2016 very thick gloves. I use them for working on lawn maintenance or for just holding stuff. they are a little too thick for miniscule tasks. they are not water proof. I use them to clean in the garage, clean tight areas where there might be black widows, bc they are thick enough I don't think they can penetrate if they bite. I like the purchase, will prob buy more when I wear these out. Decent gloves at a low price. Just wish they had other sizes. June 3, 2016 Cheap set of 3 pairs of gloves. Just wish they offered them in other sizes. Good Gloves - As Cheap Gloves Go, That Is March 9, 2016 These are pretty typical for work gloves... the cloth on the back doesn't last long before ripping, but the leather does OK. I've had other cheap work gloves where the leather stitching comes apart, but these haven't done that, so I should say they are doing better than others I've used. Decent product, fair price. October 28, 2014 I use these for gardening. They work, but get destroyed pretty quickly... keep couple around as backups. |
Three Star Reviews: | 6% Thinner that I had hoped. We'll see if they ... April 22, 2017 Thinner that I had hoped. We'll see if they stand up to wear but by the look of it, I doubt it. A tad disappointed with the color difference December 27, 2016 A tad disappointed with the color difference. They're a bit more brown than yellow. They do seem to be good quality so fingers crossed they hold up for the hubby! Love the fit of these but they don't hold up ... December 5, 2016 First couple pairs of these i got lasted forever and a day through some heavy heavy use. The pair i got from amazon started falling apart within a few weeks of moderate everyday use. Love the fit of these but they don't hold up like my old pairs and for that they only get three stars. Good for very light use is all i can recommend Kinda disappointed. August 4, 2016 I want to like these more the fit good and are comfortable. But the stiching is coming apart. I have had these for about 6 months now but I only use them for when I ride my motorcycle. I did not ride much for the first couple months because it was cold still. I had an old pair from the same glove company and got 2 years out of them and they even held up to a 20 mph crash. So maybe these were just defective I don't know but I think I'll look for something different. Beware of stink May 12, 2015 Ive had these for a few months now and they are holding up great. My only issue is the stink. I work out in the elements. It rained and that was it, the smell began. Washed them 3 times, and they still stink. I wash my hands everytime i take them off. Just beware of the stink. | 11% Comfortable but short life June 23, 2016 They fit good and are soft but don't last very long. Start pulling apart after a few uses. Hey they're cheap, sp I got my money's worth ... June 19, 2016 Hey they're cheap, sp I got my money's worth, but they don't last very long. Ideal for messy projects or for when you have friends coming to help and you just need enough to get by. These were an awesome deal, but they all had holes in them December 2, 2015 These were an awesome deal, but they all had holes in them. Like all of them. I still used them because they're yard gloves and they served my purpose but the holes gotta go if pay more for no holes Will not order again... October 17, 2015 Over priced in comparison to the quality as far as I am concerned... I have received a better quality at a cheaper price from Harbor Freight... I will not be ordering this product again... |
Two Star Reviews: | 10% Not for any serious work September 18, 2017 I ordered these gloves this summer and used them for hand protection while I rode my ATV. The gloves were good looking, but unfortunately failed when i put them to work. I was using a rope pull start on a ATV towed brush mower, when the rope handle jerked back on a crank, the stitching in the palm went out like a cheap light bulb. Needless to say, now these will be retired and full leather gloves purchased in its place. Great idea, but poor durability August 17, 2017 The concept of these gloves are great. They are tight fitting (but not too tight), have great padding, and allow me to have wonderful dexterity while working. They also have nice adjust ability with the velcro strap on the wrist, and don't over-heat your hands. The down side is they have really poor durability, which really disappointed me. I wore them for 4 days straight building a shed, so doing some light digging, running tractors, moving lumber, hammering, etc, and by the end of the 4th day (started brand new) I could see multiple places where the stitching was missing, and even a spot where I could see my finger through the glove. Really wished they held up better, but I guess on to the next brand to try and find a high dextarity glove. Two Stars March 8, 2017 Started to fall apart at the seams after a few short weeks. No abrasive work, just regular use. Mediocre work gloves September 27, 2016 the cuff starts ripping off these gloves the first time you put them on Stitching sucks. Did not last more than 10 wears September 16, 2016 Stitching sucks. Did not last more than 10 wears. Gloves contain chemicals that cause cancer November 25, 2015 WTF! Why do these gloves use chemicals that can cause cancer??Here’s why: Vinyl chloride, the chemical used to make PVC, is a known human carcinogen, according to the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). Workers in PVC manufacturing facilities and residents of surrounding communities are at risk from exposure to these chemicals which contaminate the water, soil and air around these facilities. The manufacture and incineration of PVC also creates and releases dioxins, which cause a wide range of health effects including cancer, birth defects, diabetes, learning and developmental delays, endometriosis, and immune system abnormalities. One type of dioxin is the most potent carcinogen ever tested. It’s nasty stuff. | 9% Got what I paid for January 12, 2017 These gloves are both inexpensive and cheap -- cheaply made, that is. The seams began to separate nearly immediately under light usage. Next time I will spend a bit more and hopefully get better value. Good price though February 21, 2016 The lining doesn't go all the way in tge pointer finger. Good price though. The large is more like an XXL Poor Stitching July 26, 2015 Materiel of adequate durability and weight, but poor quality stitching--came loose in less than a week. |
One Star Reviews: | 8% Don't Buy...Maybe my pair were a lemon May 19, 2017 Gloves fit well, but during their 1st use, the finger separated from the rest of the glove. Poor workmanship. Was moving rocks so needed to protect my hands. Will need to look for something else. Used to be a great glove but now they are junk August 5, 2016 I originally purchased a XL pair of these gloves from a local hardware store for use while doing tree work and they lasted for several years of occasional use. They fit great and provided great protection. Eventually that first pair wore out and I decided to order another pair. I ordered the same size and got a mismatched pair one XL and one XXL. The XXL fit great but the XL that I ordered was a bit snug. Then after barely any use both gloves began to fall apart at the seams. I went back to using the first pair of gloves because even worn out they were holding up better than the new pair that just fell apart. Quality issues January 24, 2016 I bought these gloves for basic outdoor work (digging holes, trimming branches, cutting logs, etc). On the positive side they fit well, were reasonably comfortable and have good grip. However, after about 4 weeks of light use five of the fingers in the pair had split at the fingertip seams. I've had $5 gloves from harbor freight last 4 months at this level of use. Cannot recommend these gloves at all based of lack of quality and longevity. Junk. First pair arrived with open seams. Second pair split open after only a couple of months of use. See photo. December 8, 2015 UPDATE: 2nd pair they sent me split just like all the others.UPDATE: I returned the first pair to Amazon and they replaced them.Original Review: I ordered both a set of this 160L and the 125s to compare. The 160L is a better design with more rugged material and in more locations, however the workmanship of the pair I got was very poor. The sewing is not straight, and it goes too close to the edge of the material making a poor joint. In fact one of the knuckle pads is already fraying and it's never been used. Just tried them on to check the fit. The hook and loop strap has a much larger area for a more secure grip than the 125s, however again the sewing on this one is too far in from the edge and leaves a edge that's like a flap just waiting to snag on something. The 125's are much, much better sewn. The stitches are nearly perfectly placed and parallel to each other. The fit, cuts and finish are in every way superior to these slightly more expensive gloves. It could be a got a bad set but the 160's are going back and I'm keeping the 125s. I know with such poor stitching it's just a matter of time before a seam blows out and then I have a useless glove.160's are a better design, but that does not mean much if the glove comes apart prematurely. These gloves are comfortable but poorly designed November 28, 2015 This is the second pair of CLC gloves I have purchased. The first pair tore along the fingers. I liked them though as they were comfortable and nothing else bad happened to them since that. These new pair tore the moment I pulled them onto my hands. They fit nicely, they're comfortable, but they're not made very well in my opinion. They are also a little bit too bulky for me at my job. Perhaps they will work well for other people but not for me.Since they tore seconds into pulling them onto my hands, I have to give them 1 star. I wasn't rough with them, I didn't yank on them at a weird angle or anything, both hands tore in the same spot. These dam Gloves are not good. They keep unravel an the seams November 2, 2015 These Dam Gloves are not good. They keep unravel an the seams. The also run a little tight in size. I'm got going to purchase any more. All the damage happened putting them on to do some work. | 4% Don't waste your money on these "Made in China" gloves June 23, 2015 Not even worth one star. Total junk. Of the 3 pairs, one pair wasn't stitched between the cotton and leather (back side) when I opened the package. Another pair split during the first 10 minutes of gardening. Don't waste your money on these "Made in China" gloves. |
