Perfect!
May 7, 2017
This is great! Very sturdy, and easy to adjust so I actually do switch from sitting to standing throughout the day without interrupting my workflow! I have a single 27-in monitor on it, but am considering adding a second monitor (same size), as this definitely could handle it. The keyboard platform is large enough to hold my laptop (a 15-in MacBook Pro) so I use my laptop keyboard/trackpad/screen and use the monitor as a second screen, which is a very comfortable setup. I was able to set this up on my desk by myself, but it is very heavy and awkward to lift by myself. I thought I might be able to move it easily if I wanted to move my setup to another room, but quickly realized that it's too heavy to do that as a regular thing. But that's okay, because the heft is part of what makes this so sturdy. That said, if you are a big person and tend to lean on your desk, this might not be for you - particularly when it's in the extended standing position. Before I bought this, I read through a lot of reviews trying to figure out if it would actually fit on my desk, because I have a very long shallow desk so I was concerned about depth. My desk is about 23.75 inches deep and the metal base of the Varidesk is a full 24 inches - so the metal base sits on the desk surface with a slight overhang but is firmly supported by the desk. The top of the Varidesk is wider than its base, so in the back it extends about 3 inches beyond the desk and in the front it extends about 4 inches beyond the desk when it is set in the lowest seated position. This means I have to space my desk about 5 inches from the wall to accommodate the back plus cords, which is fine for my setup but something to consider if you have a shallow desk against a wall. Keep in mind you'll need additional clearance in the front, as it comes forward several inches when you convert to the standing position. The butcher block looks good, and I find it far more aesthetically pleasing than the black ones I've seen, which was important to me because this is my home office.Overall, I love mine and use it every day, and it's tripled my productivity and (probably) extended my life span!
Been Using For 17 months. Helped My Back, Improved My Writing Process
April 21, 2017
Bought mine in October, 2015. I spend hours in front of a computer every day. I'd been having back pain and wanted to see if this would work. Short story: it did. One should not expect to be able to sit--or stand--in the same position for long periods without problems. I use it in conjunction with a Tomato timer on my 'puter and change position every 35 minutes. I started with 55 minutes, but found 35 better. You'll find your own rhythm. And if you imagine, as I did, that having to change position every half-hour is disruptive, you'll be surprised, as I was. It helps, rather than hindering the process. Keeps my head clear. I use it every day, changing it as many as six or seven times a day. Once I got the plug in my Samsung monitor to stop falling out (not Varidesk's fault), I have had no problems. It's well-made and pleasing. I like very much the way it organizes my desktop, clean and orderly. Get one. I recently bought a Terra Mat standing mat to use with it. It was expensive but I'm quite liking it. I'll let you know in a separate review in a few months.
Major Life Improvement!
August 17, 2016
I don't know why I waited so long to get this. I work on the computer all day long and for the last 3 years have suffered from a variety of musculoskeletal issues. Had to have shoulder surgery in March and decided to get this desk after I returned to work. I'm amazed at how standing, just a few more hours each day, makes me feel so much better. I love that I was able to adjust the height to exactly where I need it (I'm 5'2") and the distance between the monitor and the keyboard shelf is just right. Very sturdy - I have it on my small office desk which is exactly 24" deep. I am able to fit my 15" laptop and my 27" thunderbolt display on this size.

Very nice addition to my desk! I am impressed with the quality of the product. No setup needed.
Pro Plus 36 vs Pro 36
October 31, 2015
Let me start by saying both products are amazing. What it boils down to is preference. The biggest difference is the Pro Plus 36 keyboard mouse deck is on a lower level which I prefer (see images). My husband prefers to be at the same level when he stands up. The Pro Plus 36 when fully extended is about one inch taller and comes out about 8 inches farther with the keyboard tray. We comfortably sit both desks on a 23.5” (D) desk with only about a ½ inch sitting over.I really enjoy the Pro Plus 36 but almost went with the Pro 36 because I thought I was going to have a lot less desk space. I end up being very wrong. At home I have my Surface Pro 3, my 29 inch monitor very comfortably on the desk (see images). I have plenty of room to put more items on the desk such as ipad, folders, paperwork, and can easily fit my Moleskin planner on the keyboard tray. I also have the Pro Plus 36 at work and fit two large monitors comfortably. My husband and I work on the computer 10+ hours a day and the desks have tremendously helped our backs and our energy levels. The desks are sturdy but I wouldn’t recommend any heavy leaning while the desks are extended.
My back has never been happier!
October 31, 2014
I literally ordered this from my hospital bed after having surgery to repair a damaged disk from sitting too much. I was a bit concerned that it wouldn't lift high enough because I'm a tall person (6'2") but that hadn't been the case. After 2 days of working standing up I'm very, very happy with my purchase. The Varidesk is easy to move up/down and the max height is perfect for me.

Good Price, Sturdy, Big enough space for keyboard and mouse pad and coffee,
February 18, 2017
After trying to judge which of the laptop carts available are better buys, as most have problems with the welding and mechanics of the base and legs, I decided to go with the Amazon recommended basic version of this Seville unit. I have had many of these laptop stands in the past and all of them failed in the welds eventually. I got at least 3 years out of them on average. This non-tilting version is by far the strongest built stand I have owned with thicker steel tubing in the legs than most. compared to others I have had, it feels sturdy too. I can see why this unit has the distinction of "Amazon's Choice", It's a good usable size, sturdy and fairly easy to assemble. I am adding my recommendation too. I've tried a lot of the others and now I wouldn't buy any of them other than this one.
Great Laptop Table
July 17, 2015
I've had this for over a year. My fiancee and I liked it so much, we bought another one after a year.TOP:The top has a large surface area that measures 23.5 inches (~59.5 cm) across and 16 inches deep (~41 cm) at the midline, which is the deepest point. The top is made of plywood with a pseudo-wood top.Currently, I have no scratches on either top (we don't necessarily baby these...).The top can come off to be rotated 180 degrees to give the top about a 35 degree tilt. My laptop, with its amazing rubber feet, stays on the tilted surface well, however, other laptops, ipads, a mouse, a book, etc will likely just slide off as there's nothing to stop it.This is sturdy, except at some point the welds (as seen in the video) didn't hold up and it's not quite as sturdy. However, it's still pretty sturdy.MID SECTION:The top can move from 20 inches tall (~51 cm) to 33 inches tall (~84 cm). If it gets too tall, it can get wobbly. The knob actually holds this well into position.BASE:The base has 4 wheels on the bottom. 2 of the four have a little tab that allows you to brake the cart to prevent it from moving. The wheels do pretty good on short carpet and hardwood floors. Shaggy carpet could perhaps be a little more of a challenge. The top of the base sits about 3.5 inches tall, allowing the base to slide under many couches. If your couch is like mine, over 2 inches is too high. The wheels do come off, except the bolt is what holds the plastic endcap on the base. You could go to homedepot and get bolts that replace the wheels, or you could instead just use clear tape (what I used).Overall, this is a great laptop/multipurpose cart. If you are worried about the price, if you keep this for 5 years, then you pay only like 7 dollars on average.Hopefully this has helped, hit helpful if I've help!

Table works great!!! Height is adjustable and perfect for 15 inch laptop. I can even add a small notebook
Perfect stand for small spaces!
April 3, 2015
For under 40 bucks you can't do much better than this. After years of using a trash can in the bathroom as a laptop stand, I finally figured I should get something more professional looking that was also easy to push out of the way. This fits the bill perfectly. The height is adjustable, assembly took less than 10 minutes, and it's rock solid. I was worried that the cats might tip it over when they inevitably jumped on it, but it holds firm. It's also perfectly level and functions as a book stand or tablet stand just as well. Since the top drops with the twist of a screw it's easy to push under the counter when not in use.
Great product. Great price.

I bought three rounds of these for my classroom. They are easy to assemble, move around, adjust in height and look great.
Excellent product just what I was looking for
February 17, 2013
The desk cart is very stable and easy to put together. It is easy to adjust and rolls freely. I use it on a laminate floor. The surface size is perfect for my keyboard and mouse which is what I am using it for. I have my PC connected to my T.V. and wanted something to hold my keyboard and mouse. I use my PC to watch Netflix, internet content and to work on. This way I do not have to buy a monitor in addition to a T.V.

A super solution to that middle-aged slump
June 29, 2017
I like this desk, though it takes some getting used to. It's going to solve my back and energy problems, that much is obvious from the start. I recommend it highly, with one caveat. There's a mushy spot in the positions available for standing use, by which I mean it will sink an inch or two after I release the lever, instead of settling pretty much right where I have it. The next level up seems to be ok for me (5'7"), but I have this persistent feeling that the ideal position is inside that zone of slippage. I also have to lift the monitor up to the top level for standing and lower it for sitting, but that's not a big deal. The seated configuration is a little crowded for eating at my desk, which I like to do, but I'm working that out. I LOVE the standing! As I adapt to it (legs are tired at the end of the day), I know this will be my preferred position. I stand most of the time, sitting to read blogs during breakfast and lunch, or if I'm having a really short day. I can touch-type, I can transcribe notes out of a book placed on the upper level on the little left-side arm. The surface is more slippery than my desktop, which takes getting used to also, but they kindly supply a rubber mat for the coffee cup, so the worst disasters are prevented. The thing weighs an absolute ton. I can even scooch it over an inch without help, much less lift the beast. But that's good too - it feels very secure and substantial.
Good platform, but still room for improvement
May 17, 2017
The stand do come pre-assembled and ready to use. It is very heavy so get help to unbox and carry it to wherever you need it to be. Usage is very simple. Plenty of surface to spread your stuff. You need to deal with cable management on your own, as there is nothing there to help or guide (well unless you use wireless KB and mouse). I can sense the vibration when I type, but it is slight enough that it does not impact the monitors much. If I let me shoulder drop during typing (more relaxed position), I have to raise the monitors for a more ergo setup. For me (5'11"), I need to raise the monitors by at least 4 more inches to let them be at my eye level. I know they also sell the monitor screen positioner, but that will continue to add up the price. I hope there is a way to adjust that (right now the monitor platform and keyboard platform has a fixed spacer support of about 3-4").
Ergonomics needs improvement
April 27, 2017
My employer reimbursed me for this purchase. Would I spend $400 of my own money on this desk? No.Pros:• The mechanical engineering is great. It moves up and down very easily.• Size-wise, it can handle both of my free-standing monitors, cup warmer, etc.• It looks terrificCons:• The pricetag is very steep.• In less than a week of use, I started getting wrist soreness because of how I now position my hand to use my mouse when standing. I've started using the mouse on the upper part of the desk. That's better, but my wrist still gets sore. I think the position of the keyboard has contributed to this problem, too, for which I've started propping up the closest edge.I think Varidesk has done great work so far, but they have a ways to go with ergonomics.
Good desk for a standing station.
September 25, 2015
I have a back injury and the doctor recommended that I get a standing station for work. I am an accountant and work 8-10 hours a day at a computer. I am 5' 6", but usually wear shoe with a heal, so about 5' 8" at my standing station. This desk seemed to get good reviews, so I opted for it. I don't need to use it fully extended upwards, so there is still room if you are taller (someone else mentioned 5'10" worked for them.) My only real complaint is that when you have your monitors, keyboard and mouse on there (max 35lbs per the sticker), that is a lot to raise up and down manually with a bad back - leaning forward. You must pull two levers on the side to either raise or lower this. My back does not tolerate standing or sitting for long periods of time, so I alternate between standing and sitting about every hour which requires me to adjust this desk height multiple times a day. That is the main reason for the 4 stars. The other comment I have seen is that the desk in 'unsteady', which I disagree with. I don't feel like it is going to topple over, but I wouldn't push myself up on the keyboard tray either! It does shake the monitors a little if I am typing fast (like now), but it doesn't affect me.
Your Body Will Thank You
February 3, 2015
I'm reviewing the Varidesk Pro Plus.I am 61 years old, 6 feet tall, 230 lbs. People with other body types might have a different experience than mine. I have used the Varidesk for 2 weeks. So far, I stand at my computer for 30-45 minutes each time about 4 times in 8 hours plus walk 2 miles at lunch. I liked the Varidesk so much, I bought one for home use. Note: You cannot raise the Varidesk with one hand. It requires both hands with light to medium grip strength. I bought the large varidesk standing floor mat for work but for home I ordered a William Sonoma Wellness Mat (costs $40 more) based on a recommendation in a customer review.Pros:Well built, sturdy. Spring assisted lift.Comes completely assembled.Easy to raise and lower unless you have a weak back or are petite.Great alternative to sitting all day.Cons(I hope Varidesk Corp is reading this):In the down position, the Pro Plus requires lots of desk space. 36"(W)x 29.75(Deep)The screen wobbles slightly the higher you go but you get used to it unless you are a 'keyboard pounder'.At the sitting position I found the keyboard platform to be too high and if I use a slide out keyboard drawer (under the desk) then the monitors are too far away. Solution: buy a $300 drafting stool which rises high and has a circular foot rest and back rest OR put multiple pillows under your current chair to effectively lower the keyboard and get something to put your feet on.The keyboard surface is way too slippery. You might need to buy some anti-skid pads ($3) to add friction so the keyboard doesn't move. I like a sensitive mouse so I'm getting used to the slippery surface with a laser mouse. I don't know if an ultra thin mouse pad will stay put on this slick surface. Mine is on order. This desk is heavy and bulky in the shipping carton. Two people can deal with it much easier than one.Despite these cons I still think this is a great alternative to sitting all day at a desk. If you buy one your body will thank you.
Pretty good, but iffy to adjust with Thunderbolt + MBP
October 29, 2014
Just got this set up with the help of two coworkers.PROS:- There was no assembly.- It fits my 27" Mac thunderbolt display alongside a 15" Macbook Pro and a a few small desk decorations (see attached image).- I am 5'3" and the desk is perfect height at the 4th or 5th level (there are 10 heights you can set this to). The IKEA desk it's sitting on has the leg shaft set to 7.5".CONS:- The thunderbolt display and Macbook Pro are a total of 28lbs, and this desk supports 35lbs. This makes lifting and lowering the desk difficult and slightly worrisome because the handles become more difficult to squeeze (it says to push down slightly before raising desk) and you have to make sure it doesn't come crashing down.- This thing is a beast. I have way less desk space to put other stuff, and the weight limit makes me feel iffy putting the Container Store drawers (blue on left side in image) back under my laptop as a laptop stand.Overall, not a bad cheaper alternative to an expensive electronic standing desk, and definitely much sturdier and roomier than the $22 hacked IKEA standing desk setup I had before. Just wish raising and lowering felt safer with all that heavy equipment on it.

Amendment #2After looking up the manufacturer and describing the situation, they asked for a few questions to be answered like proof of purchase and photos of the defective parts. I was notified today that they parts have been shipped and should arrive in 5-7 days. Pretty hassle free.I need to amend my review. I haven't used this desk more than a handful of times in my photo studio. It doesn't get moved around much and on the second time I readjusted the tilt, part of the latch that does the locking, on the right side, broke into two pieces and now the table top is useless as with only one working latch, I fear that it will not stay in place and I will find my laptop on the floor in pieces. Hoepfully Amazon can put me in touch with the manufacturer and I will be able to get parts to repair it.When looking for a laptop stand for my photo studio, my requirements included a height-adjustable platform that tilted. I also wanted space for a mouse as I find this is easier than using the touchpad or pointer on the keyboard. It also had to be easy to move around as I shoot tethered to my camera. This stand checked all of the boxes. A sturdy metal frame with casters (lockable), height adjustment that allows a comfortable position for my 6'-1 frame, a fixed mouse platform that in positioned in a comfortable location. The laptop platform has a lip on both sides so that it can be used right or left handed without disassembling. The tilting table is locked in place by two finger operated friction latches similar to a tripod. the size allows it to be used with any size laptop up to 17" or larger.I am very happy with this stand and recommend it for anyone who needs a portable surface for their laptop while standing.
Really good quality and a good buy
June 24, 2016
It's a very nice table that looks well in my living room and is comfortable to use while sitting on my sofa. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality as well. The table looks like fine wood furniture. It rolls comfortably on my wood floors and my laptop stays on it without sliding even though I keep the table tilted and there is no edge bar to keep it from falling off. The table is smooth and other items slide off so I am not sure why my laptop doesn't but am very glad that it doesn't. An optional edge bar would be a good idea though. There are only two things that I would like improved upon. 1. The table came with absolutely no assembly instructions. I did not have difficult getting it assembled once I gathered all the pieces together and thought of it as a puzzle. Someone not so adept at puzzles may have some difficulty with assembly though. Secondly, I thought from the photo that the base leg was offset and that is why I wanted to purchase this item so that I could elevate my legs on a foot stool and pull the table close to me on the sofa so I could use the keyboard without difficulty. The base leg is in the center so the only way to elevate your legs is to have the base leg in between your thighs...not very comfortable. I intend to keep this table however as it is very good quality and continue to search for a laptop table that can roll under the sofa with an offset leg as I had hoped this table to have.
Live and learn...to read the specifications CAREFULLY!
June 4, 2016
Unfortunately, I relied on the Customer Reviews and responses to questions in my purchase decision rather than the product specifications. Silly me.NOTE: Although both models of this product as advertised (and reviewed) appear similar in design - they are significantly DIFFERENT in function. To wit, I wanted an affordable laptop cart that would drop to my true "lap" top - 20 inches. The product/model I ordered - with the side table - does NOT drop down to 20 inches. As indicated in the product specs, the lowest setting for this model is 27 inches. Per my measuring tape...that is absolutely correct. The lowest height for the model with the side table is 27 inches. The product/model that drops down to 20 inches is the "standard" model - with a top that DOES NOT tilt - and no side table.I gave the table four stars because I like it...seems a good, solid table for the price. I just don't love it:) I'm really hoping I'm gonna "love" the standard model that drops to 20 inches...which I'm going to have to order.
0 Stars - Useless for my needs
January 28, 2016
This review will be a bit confusing so I've broken it into two parts: (1) Review - (2) Comments with Picture(1) - REVIEW - WHEELS ON: 0 Stars - Useless for my needs, moved around a lot while using it, very unsteady on my hardwood floors, even with wheels in locked position.- WHEELS OFF: 5 Stars - The best for it's price, maybe even better - the perfect stand.Even though I'm giving it 0 stars with wheels, removing them completely changed the value of the product, enough to warrant 5 stars for my uses.I bought this to use both at my desk as a keyboard stand and with my sofa as stand for iPad and laptop. I found when I used the stand on hardwood floors with the wheels on, the stand was unsteady and moved around - I was afraid to put my laptop on it because I might knock it over, even with the wheels in locked position. BUT...when I removed the wheels and added a couple adhesive pads (the type you put under furniture on hardwood floors) my opinion completely changed.(2) COMMENTS WITH PICTUREI always return a product if it doesn't live up to its performance claims, but I chose to keep this, which is a first for me. It's a great stand without the wheels. I would recommend this stand to anyone with the caveat being it's not as sturdy with wheels on as it is with wheels off. Finally, the stand I received looks a lot better than it's picture and has two crossbars holding up the center post and tabletop instead of the one crossbar shown in the picture - the post ends up bolted to both crossbars - that obviously makes the stand itself studier than the model shown in the picture, which must be an older version.(Attached is a picture showing both the apparently updated version of the stand and how it looks without wheels.)
about 200 hours of use from an easy chair. Here are some plusses
September 1, 2015
Lots of research paid of on this stable, simple, and handsome standard size computer desk, $38. So far, about 200 hours of use from an easy chair. Here are some plusses, minuses, and comments:Good: Good welding and paint job. Sturdy desktop - post is attached to the middle of the top. Sturdy stand made of appropriate gauge metal. Simple construction: not much to go wrong and easy quick setup (20 minutes) All tools needed are provided (disposable little wrench too) Center of gravity is in the right place. Minimum and maximum height covers any normal height seating. One reviewer states 20.5 - 31 inches. Base including wheels is 3 inches high. Plenty of room for 14" wide laptop and mouse. With effort, can get laptop, mouse, external keyboard, fan, and navigator mouse on table. Tough.Shortcomings: (not faults) Instructions weak, but adequate if you take time to work it out. Surface area great for computer and mouse, but not much more. Not designed for a bed due to center post, but could work if sitting up.Can be used without wheels if desired (not sure why you would)Might be a little hard to roll on a thick rug, but that comes with the low clearance of 3 inches. Not hard to lift a little to help move.
Works well for me...
March 18, 2015
I was laid up for 3 months with a broken leg and I worked from home during this time, mostly sitting on the couch in our living room. I started out using a folding dinner tray table, but those don't extend over my lap enough to be comfortable. I eventually ordered this, using a gift card I received for Christmas. I wanted something that matched our furniture and other decorations better, but I ended up choosing function over form instead.I had to remove the wheels because with them in place the bottom of the stand will not fit under our couch, but it's not very heavy and it slides well across our carpet.Assembly was quick and easy. Be careful not to over-tighten the bolts that hold the tabletop on or you will push them through the other side. I almost over-tightened mine and I could see bulges under the laminate on the finished side of the table before backing the bolts back out.I found the table top to be more than adequate to hold my Surface Pro 3, while I worked from home and I ate most meals off the table as well. The adjustable height feature is nice and can be easily readjusted as necessary without any fuss. It's just simple knob that puts pressure on the inner tube to hold it in place.I work in IT and frequently work from home nights and weekends and I still use this laptop desk regularly now that I'm back up on two legs again. When not in use, I store it at the far end of one of our couches in the living room, out of sight.

Its good but two 27 inch monitors does not fit
November 28, 2016
Its good but two 27 inch monitors does not fit, you must use 24 inch or smaller. The other issue iswhen you are typing the monitors bounce around due to the springs. It a good standing deskbut I would rather buy a real desk that goes up and down to avoid the monitors from moving somuch. It gets annoying over time. Plus when it's in standing mode, do you don't have much roomto write with a notepad. It's only good to use the computer with the mouse.
Hard to Raise
July 31, 2016
I love the idea of this desk, but it is much harder to raise than the video makes it look. To be fair, I do have 2 monitors, but they do not exceed the pound limit. I have to stand on a small step ladder to raise it or have someone help me. Lowering it is a piece of cake.
Lower panel not adjustable, limited space for keyboard and mouse make it hard to keep a good arm position
July 12, 2016
I bought this adjustable standing desk after I read the positive reviews. I have been using this desk for a few months now. The desk itself is well made, good quality, very sturdy and stable regardless if it's in sitting position or standing position. However, there are two significant limitations of this desk: 1). the lower panel for the keyboard is not adjustable, which limits where the keyboard can be placed; for those people with long arms, this means you would have to stand back and away in order to have a comfortable arm position. Because the lower panel is not adjustable and has limited space, after you place the keyboard, there is no right place to put the mouse, you can only put it on the very side part of the lower panel, either on the left or on the right; this means you can't stretch your arm to reach the mouse, your hand will be at the position of the rib-cage. This position is quite uncomfortable after a while, therefore I have to find another location to change my position to avoid my wrist from feeling very tired. 2). The desk is very big, it takes up almost the entire surface of an executive desk. After you place this desk on top of a normal sized table, you will have no space to do any paper work. This means you'll have to have another table to deal with paper or physical document. From this aspect, this desk is better suited for people who have L shape desks. If I have had a chance to try it out, I won't have bought it. After I received it, i realized the issues within a few days, however, given how heavy the desk is, and the return cost is not covered unless the desk is defective, I kept it, but not really very happy with it.
Great mechanics and design
April 10, 2015
Great mechanics and design, but I have a beef with the materials. While the frame is apparently made of bomb-proof metal, the two platforms are particle board. I had just removed the desk from the shipping box, leaned it against the wall and turned my back for a second when it tipped over, breaking off a big chunk from a corner of the flimsy keyboard platform. And it wasn't that hard of a fall. I was able to wood-glue it back together with a clamp, but I expected better durability for a $350 item (plus $50 shipping), especially one that weighs close to 50 pounds. No wonder they ship it in such a padded box. I thought the shipping container was overkill when it arrived but not now. It seems to me that Varidesk could save a few bucks on the box and invest more instead into plywood monitor and keyboard platforms.
won't work for tall people, otherwise it's fantastic!
January 29, 2015
I loved this desk but had to return it. It was very well made, sturdy construction. The problem was that it wouldn't reach high enough. I'm taller than 6'6" and even with a taller than normal desk it would not reach my elbows. I ended up slouching to see the computer screen and use my keyboard. If you're of average height I think you'll like the desk, but if you're taller than average I think you may have trouble.
New Keyboard Feature Needs Some Work
August 2, 2014
My VariDesk Pro Plus arrived yesterday. Before it was even out of the box, 6 of the half inch screws were out of the keyboard tray. I screwed them back in, but pressed board really only gives you one shot with the screws. The rest of the desk is great, but serious design flaw in the extremely cheap keyboard tray. Fortunately, I've got a handyman husband who quickly fixed it with 4 $1.00 rather unique looking two-headed screws.

Not meant to be used as pictured. The stand should not be used like an easel, as it WILL allow a laptop to easily slide off.
June 24, 2017
The picture of this stand is very deceiving! It tilts, and locks in place, and that's good for my needs. However, I've concluded that the stand is designed to be used flat/horizontal...only. Though there are two raised bumpers at the top and bottom of the large surface, they will not prevent a laptop from sliding off easily. You certainly can not use is as it is displayed by the vendor. It is NOT an easel! The construction is very good, the holes match up and pieces go together just fine. The finish on the metal parts is good, and the faux wood surfaces are attractive. All you have to do is stumble through the horrible assembly instructions. The screws used are not clearly identified, and caused me to go through way too much trial and error: "Does this one go here, or there?" If you like obscure puzzles, you'll enjoy assembling this stand.
TV tray table adjusts only in height
May 6, 2017
This is a good start on making a tv (or couch) table that is actually useful. The table can be brought up to the point it nearly touches your chest when you are seated. It comes only partially assembled (which is clearly indicated in the product description on Amazon) but final assembly is very easy.My complaints are: (1) it only adjusts in height. The tray top cannot be slanted. (2) The attachment of the top to the base comprises threaded nuts that are screwed into particle board. The top simply broke free of the nuts when the unit was picked up by the edges of the top. I'm sure that the designer did not plan for it to be so handled (mis-handled?) but still, this is a major weakness both physically and as a design element.
Inexpensive, so-so quality.
March 28, 2017
This serves the purpose of an inexpensive mobile cart for your desktop. However, it appears to have a contact paper type finish which attracts fingerprints immediately. In addition, one of the locks for the large table broke and I've had it only for one day. Unfortunately, I'm not going to take the time to disassemble it and return it since it took me about an hour to assemble it. The best part is the sturdiness of the base. Too bad that doesn't translate to the table.
A Fine Moble Laptop Desk Cart, but not for me.....
February 16, 2017
I ordered this mobile Laptop Desk Cart after reading reviews from others who had also purchased this item. I received the item on time and was very impressed with the packaging and the quality of the cart pieces that were to be assembled. Assembly was easy and within 45 minutes I was ready to try my new desk/cart out. I did so, placing my laptop on the cart and began typing only to feel the cart wobble. Not badly, but enough to distract me from my work. I tried adjusting the table to various heights, as well as placing the wheeled base on different flooring, from carpet to hardwood and it still wobbled for me. It might have been me and the way I type, I don't know. I even removed the wheels, but that didn't help either. Begrudgingly I disassembled the desk/cart and returned it. This was a fine looking, strong good looking table and I wouldn't discourage someone else from trying this item, it just didn't work for me.
wobbly without the wheels
November 21, 2016
This is my first impression review. I've been using this table for less than an hour.I'm using my Surface Pro on it and I did not attach the wheels to the bottom. My first complaint is that it wobbles easily. It wobbles when I type. I may try adding the wheels to see if that helps. However, the problem lies in that it's a bit top heavy with not a wide enough base.Overall, the construction is decent. The stand is adjustable by a screw that just pushes on the middle support. Hence, it might slip over time. You could drill holes to keep that from happening though.I've mostly been using my TableMate for this. The TableMate does not wobble nearly as much and is nearly as sturdy. However, the TableMate has a lip that goes around the table that doesn't work well with a Surface laptop. The table top is a wood composite. The bottom of it is a bit sharp, but isn't bad. The metal cuts are good and not too sharp. They give you plastic caps for them, so that's not an issue. At some point, I may look into a way to extend the base to avoid the wobble. To do this, one might remove the back caps and insert wood slats that have a screw hole. Then use the wheel hole to affix the slat to extend the base.In the end, I'll continue using this, but will probably keep looking as well.
Not a standup/sitdown but better than a lapdesk
September 30, 2016
I recently moved into an apartment from a house so had to downsize several things... and a lapdesk was just not doing it...so far this desk is comfortable... it has good amount of space on the top and it feels pretty sturdy. I had it together in about 15 minutes and using immediately after.I had to take the casters off cause it wouldn't fit under my couch with them on. I put on those felt stickies to keep from scratching the floor.and it holds in place food and slides good with those as well.It is a good looking desk and for the 3 days that I have had it it is getting the job done.My wife has also said it makes the TVing/webbing combo watching much easier.

Height-Adjustable, but not high enough! Worse neck/back pain after 1 week than before I started using.
July 4, 2015
I really wish I could give this product 5 stars - really do. In a world where a lot of us spend most of our days sitting in front of computer monitors - and a world where we're being told that "sitting is the new smoking," the Varidesk seemed like the perfect answer to me. Especially because, as a freelancer, I move from job to job, so something that's "easily" (well, it is kind of awkward/heavy, but still liftable) transportable is idea. However, there is a fundamental flaw with this desk. The monitor level is just not high enough. I am a 6 ft tall male (average male height searched on Google is 5'10"). When the desk is lowered as well as raised to full height, the keyboard is at the appropriate, ergonomic level for me to use. But the monitors are at least 3 inches too low for proper use. Sure, 3 inches doesn't sound like a lot, but in this case it is. I am constantly looking at my monitor on a downward angle, which is not good for a person at all. In fact, after using this desk now for a week, I have horrible neck pain, worse than before. Which is frustrating because that's why I bought this desk in the first place - to get rid of some of the aches and pains from the daily grind at the office.I am really surprised that Varidesk doesn't realize what a problem this is. They even have pictures on their website that show people using the desk with this improper downward-angle view. Monitors should be eye-level for proper ergonomics. In their FAQ area, they do say that for taller and shorter people, monitors that have adjustable height are useful. But I feel that the distance between the monitor stand and keyboard should be closer to the proper space to begin with - at least 7 inches, it's currently only 4 inches. And I don't have the luxury of choosing my type of monitors when moving from facility to facility.I'm going to try and add something to the desk to raise the monitors higher, but I'm kind of limited with the weight capacity. And I really feel that for the price, I shouldn't have to be making adjustments to this to make it work. Plus, adding regular monitor risers is just going to make the unit less stable. If I cannot figure out a system that works, I will be returning.Again, I was very hopeful and excited about this item, but after a week of use, I am disappointed and in pain.
I love the mechanics of the desk and how it is ...
July 2, 2015
I love the mechanics of the desk and how it is designed to work. My problem with it is that upon taking it out of the shipping box, four of the screws attaching the upper deck immediately fell loose, and over the last three days of using the desk, another three screws have popped loose. I can't use the desk in the upright position now until I get our facilities staff to repair it and attach the upper deck in another way. Repair seems like a better option than sending it back as the packaging material has already been recycled. All of this said, I have three co-workers who have purchased the same item and have not had any of the issues my desk has had. I'm the only one with a few screws loose. : ) If this desk had arrived without this particular construction issue, I think I would have given it 5 stars.
I wanted to like this desk
March 11, 2015
The desk wiggles quite a lot when you type on it, so monitors shake. Makes you kind of seasick. I wanted to like this desk. :(
Great construction, terrible slick shiny surface. You'll NEED a mouse pad for a LED mouse.
October 30, 2014
I want to like this desk, but I cannot. Nice quality construction, and the height is fine. It fits my full-size Das Keyboard so I cannot imagine what monstrosity the reviewer is using who says it won't fit their keyboard. Three stars off for the black surface. It is far too slick and reflective/shiny.Slick: I'm worried about putting my coffee cup on it, because it slides too easily. Making a product which increases the falling height of objects then making the surface quite slippery is a bad idea.Reflective: I don't use a mouse pad, but my LED mouse cannot read the surface correctly. The cursor moves extremely slow. So, now I've got a piece of 8"x11" paper under my mouse. I don't need a shiny desk. I'm already cursed by a monitor with a reflective screen. This is silly. My monitors need better stands, I'll give Varidesk that, but I'm watching these letters shake around while I type. Not going to work.Huh... I've had it setup for less than a half hour now. I've just convinced myself to return it.Update: I returned it and Varidesk has great response times. A little slow on the actual refund, but not really a problem. Thank you!

The pictures looked flat. This is so not flat. Nothing stays on it.
March 12, 2017
The pictures look flat. It is so not flat. I love the rest. The ability to sit in a normal chair, with all my puppies, and pull the laptop up to me is awesome. Except my laptop doesn't stick to the desk because it is so super slanted. I had to go out and put duck tape and put stripes across it just to get the feet of the laptop something to grip onto to slow how fast it slides off. Nothing else will stay on the desk. Not the mouse. Not my phone. Basically unless you are holding it to the desk, it's going to fall. This is pretty much just a free standing something hard to lean against. I would have returned it, but I'm lazy and was desperate for a desk to use. As far and packaging, that was great. It showed up on time. The quality of this super slanted desk seems to be great. Everything is super sturdy so far, it rolls with no issue. It's even been ran into by a couple pups while they play and hasn't toppled, just made the laptop slide down. I was kinda mad that I had to find a side table just to set my phone and a drink on, because again, this desk is worthless when it comes to that.
Welds go bad!
July 9, 2016
Bought in May 2015. Just noticed today that the weld under the desktop portion is failing. Why? Because on a square piece, they only have two welds instead than four. I just re-read through the reviews and noticed I am not the only one with this issue. It appears the weld(s) typically fail after a year or so of use. It is unfortunate because other than that glaring issue, the stand works as intended. I put some Gorilla Glue around the welds and non-welded areas, but it appears to be too late. When you're putting the thing together it appears to be pretty solid. With four hex screws that attach the desktop to the stand itself. But alas, those poor welds will be its demise.I would not recommend for a long term solution. If you're only going to use it sparingly, you may get some more life out of it, but a year seems to be a tipping point for a lot of purchasers lately.
Excellent quality but flawed design
May 13, 2016
Very good quality construction and materials but it has a serious design flaw. Supposedly the smaller side table/platform is for an external mouse. But if so, it is at a very awkward, unusable height in relation to the main table. Furthermore it is fixed so there is no way to adjust it to a height that would actually make it usable for a mouse. It sits about 4" below the main table making it very awkward and uncomfortable to put your external mouse there. And since the main table isn't that big, there is no room on it for your mouse either.Apparently the maker expects you to use your laptop's built in mouse instead of an external one. Definitely NOT a good design for me and others who prefer to use an external trackball or other type of external mouse with their laptops. After a time using a mouse on that side table, you end up with a sore arm and elbow since you have to reach over, forward and down. That leaves your arm stretched out at an uncomfortable angle.
Very Unhappy
April 6, 2016
We had purchased one of these long ago and needed a second one, since we were happy with it.So my second one came today and I am very unhappy with this table. It is very shakey and it is very difficult to type on and there is a slant now, which after turning the table around, as some have suggested, hasn't corrected the problem.I would suggest you avoid this laptop table at all costs and just try something else instead.
No Lip On It ,,, Very Wobbly On Carpeting ....
December 28, 2015
It was easy to put together. One bit of advice. When you screw the T on to the top, be careful not to screw it too tight else it forms indents in the top of the table. Depending on how you place the top on to the angled post determines the angle of the table top. One way the desktop sits flat and the other way is more like a drafting table. A Laptop would never sit on it in the drafting table angle as there is no lip to keep it from falling off. The flat position works just fine. You can raise it using the knob or lower it depending on your chair. I found the table to be very wobbly while sitting on carpet. The base of it needs to have more weight to it. I certainly wouldn't leave the laptop unattended with small children around as it could easily be knocked over. It's surely not the best or truly what I expected it to be. But for the price it will do for now. It looks nice but it's not quite as stable as I would have liked. I guess the moral to the story is don't put a 1500 dollar laptop on a 30 dollar table. Use common sense and caution.
Missing Parts Made it Wobbly/Cheapish
October 21, 2015
Not hard to assemble, really, but this piece arrived with missing parts and inadequate plastic 'washers' for the screws that attach the central support to the base. Also, after I attached the table top with screws to the center support, I could see that the tips of the screws had nearly broken through the wood top of the desk, leaving two strange 'goosebump' shapes that my laptop has to balance over... All in all, I would love this stand if it were not wobbly on a richter scale of 9.9. I get dizzy typing. A long phone call with support resulted in Amazon's not having the capability to send the tiny missing parts. Instead, they are shipping a new desk and have asked me to remove the missing parts from the new shipment and then return it. They provided a label. After extensive back and forth with supervisors, Amazon finally agreed to pay the $10 pick up fee that UPS will charge by giving me a small credit. This feels like an awkward and laborious solution, although I can see that an item sold at this price point might mean struggling a little when things don't go right. In the end, I may just purchase better fitting metal washers to stabilize the stand.

Disappointed. Performance simply can't justify its high price. Look somewhere else
July 10, 2017
I ordered this desk after reading some reviews and lured by its rating. The desk arrived quickly, and the packaging looks decent. However after opening the box, setting it up (was easy as no assembly required to give Varidesk credit) and using it for a few days, I noticed a list of things that very much bothered me.First, sure I can adjust height to different positions. Those positions are pre-set, fixed positions. I needed to try a couple of times to get it to the height close to where I want it to be. Every adjustment and locking came with the annoying click click noise. I have expected it to be reasonably quiet, but that is not the case.Second, when I set it at a specific location, it is not securely locked into that position. Rather the desk still can move down for about an inch when I applied a little force on the desk, like it is cushioning. Why is that? It literally changed the position you want it to set at, when you put on your monitors or other stuff on the desk surface.Third, the desk wobbles left or right beyond the reasonable tolerance (to me). So when I type, put on or take away something from the desk, it just responds to that motion. I was expecting a solid and stable positioning from the desk but it didn't seem to deliver.I am having trouble to securely push down the desk to its lowest position. The right side always pops up unless I press it down really hard. I didn't try Varidesk before, so can't tell whether this is a common issue or a defect.Once the desk lifts up to the full height, the keyboard tray sticks out quite a bit, and I have to stand back and give away some space. I feel the desk may tip if I lean on it. Sure I would not purposely do that, but in my view it has tipping risk. I hope such risk has been well assessed and validated. So, my conclusion is this desk is not meeting my expectations for a premium quality standing desk at almost $400 price range. I am going to return it and look for other solutions. I can only speak from my experience, but would not be surprised if others have similar experience. I would NOT recommend this desk to anyone who seriously considers a $300-$400 price range standing desk. There got to be better ones. Do your research and don't blindly go with number of reviews or ratings.
Nothing like the slick TV ads make it to be
January 11, 2017
I found this unit to be extremely heavy and bulky, unstable, and unergonomic. It made some kind of dirty metal shavings, like a graphite powder, every time I would change height, leaving stains on my desktop and hands. Wouldn't reach high enough for my husband, and he's tall but not terribly tall. The keyboard tray droops a few degrees and places your mouse way too far back, it hurt too much to use. Makes clanging noises and you have to press down REALLY hard to get it to the bottom position. I ended up returning it and buying a ZipLift, which have LOVED every since.
Can't process a refund - Bad Support
January 9, 2017
Returned it but VARIDESK cant seem to refund the payment. they keep claiming they are behind on processing or some other issue. Been 3 months since I returned it, contacted them multiple times and still not refund. Very disappointing. On a positive note, I have 2 of the desks I purchased previously and they work great.
THIS DESK WILL WRECK YOUR NECK, SHOULDER AND UPPER BACK.
November 3, 2016
This desk will wreck your back and now. DO NOT BUY ITThe design is totally not ergonomic. After six months of use you will have terrible shoulder and neck pains because the mouse is too low or too high based on a 6 foot tall person.I called Vari desk and they will do nothing about it.They offer no solutions and will not refund the money. They have a 30 day warranty but the problem with your neck and shoulder will not appear for about six months. I use the desk every day in my office and began to have pain in my neck and shoulder due to an improper height of the mouse. They do not sell any brackets to customize the keyboard shelf. Putting the mouse on the top tier will not work as your arm will be extended too far.Try a kangaroo desk instead as its customizable
Wish I had realized sooner how much I dislike it!
August 2, 2016
I find this desk very hard to lower and raise. I dont think there is a construction flaw you just have to be stronger than I am. It is also messy and makes it hard to keep things organized. I tried to return it, but I was a bit passed the 30 day deadline so they would not take it. Wish I had realized sooner how much I dislike it!
Shoddy Manufacturing, Disingenuous Custom Service
June 30, 2015
The Bad:The product arrived with all of the screws attaching the monitor surface to the adjustable mechanism completely stripped. The screws provided appear to be metal, rather than wood screws, so it's no wonder they stripped right out. After about two hours of fiddling, I was able to secure the top to the bottom using my own screws and elbow grease. The Worse:I contacted VariDesk hoping for some sort of compensation, as they would have had to replace the whole thing had I not fixed it and thus far they have refused to refund me any amount. I will update following the Amazon A-to-Z Claims process.

Height Adjustment Faulty
September 7, 2017
The knob that is tightened to hold the desk at various heights does not work. No matter how tight the knob is turned, the weight of the desk automatically lowers to the base. There are no holes in the stem for the knob to engage and hold it in place. I contacted the company thinking my stem was no correct as it was missing height adjustment holes, but they said no, just tighten the knob. My husband is very strong and cannot make the desk stay up. After spending the time to put it together, I wasn't going to repackage it for a return. Maybe the company plans it that way. We will have to drill holes in order to use it, but we shouldn't have to. Bad design. Choose another brand, but make sure it is fully operational.

March 27, 2017
building was not easy , you have to push really really hard to make the wheel fit, i was scared to damage it but it finally went well, thought i was done then the thing use to adjust the hight would not come through so the upper part falls all the way to the floor. I am going to return, so tired after assembling this.
Limited for real use
November 7, 2016
After a month top completely ripped away from particle board top. Using duct tape which is not solving the problem. I use with computer and do a lot of research and the weight of me leaning on table to read computer was too much for it. Very fragile and was not a good purchase for me. Would not recommend if you are a heavy reader on your computer and tend to lean on it.Update: finally broke to point of no repair. The wood in the top is little more than glued together sand, so soft.
Beware before you buy!
November 1, 2015
I wouldn't even give it one star!I purchased this desk ( Standard Version ) on November 22, 2013, so I could use it occassionally to work on my laptop- its not even 2 years old. When I first purchased it, I thought ot was pretty great. Easy assembly. When you put the desk together, you slide a square tube "stem" attached to the desk part, into a similar metal piece attached to the bottom piece with wheels and it locks into place. I noted that it was a tight fit, the first time I put it togther, but wa told it was because it was new, etc. I noticed this the 2 or maybe 3 times I decided to change the height......so not many times in that time. Well tonight, I decided to move the desk to another room, so I rolled it out, loosened the screw that adjusts the height ( almost all the way off) and gently "GENTLY!" pulled the desk part up....the desk part moved up, but the metal stem attached to the desk snapped right off! THis "stem" is attached to the desk by a METAL crossbar and screws, and it CAME RIGHT APART! Luckily i was holding the desk part by the sides or I would have cut my hand open on the exposed metal where it broke!I'm reallly disgusted, because lately , everything I purchase from AMAZON, lasts about a year and dies! I expect that a desk like this, which everyone seems to love based on the reviews AMAZON shows us, is not worth the money paid for it! ( And by the way, make sure if you buy this? You read the revews on the side in smaller text! As one reviewer said, "another $1.50 in parts and this would have been an awesome product! )Beware before you buy!"
*** Missing parts, scratched table top out of the box and customer service that doesn't care about quality or the customer!
February 10, 2015
*** Missing parts, scratched table top out of the box and customer service that doesn't care about quality or the customer! Look for another company/product. The product itself seems to be fine for the cost, but not if you receive a defective product. Who wants to take it all apart and send it back to Amazon at this point???Table top was scratched and customer service was horrible when I reported it! Also, missing bolt to complete assembly. Was told to take a photo and e-mail support with missing parts. Very uncaring about quality and the customer service experience! The table seems to fine for the price, but missing parts and scratches on the top are not good! I spoke directly to the manufacturer.
Poor quality--broken after less than 1 month

The screw mechanism that holds the table top in place is a poor system and broke in less than 1 month. I am requesting a refund, and hope the company will honor its products. Holly
