Five Star Reviews: | 49% Good quality at a great price February 28, 2017 Good quality at a great price. I purchased these individually before, but at this price (< $10 for 5 pairs) you can't go wrong. Excellent General Purpose Work Gloves September 13, 2016 When I think of a work glove, this is it. You can get a real grip with these, as they are real cowhide leather. The cuffs make them easy to take on and off, as well as give some protection to your wrists. They are comfortable- not too thick so you can't get a good feel, and not so thin that you're not well-protected. They are a decent value too.Bonus: If you look around, you can find this same style in a toddler's size, so they can help Dad when he is working. Hardy - chopped six chords of wood with these. October 11, 2015 In the backwood mountains of northern Vermont, I chopped six chords of wood to prepare for winter with these gloves. Not once when swinging my ax did a finger pop through a hole or a tear ruin my day. These gloves work just as hard as us mountain folk. The padding across the knuckles is perfect for using a sharpie marker to write your name or a catch phrase to motivate you to work harder. My preferred tagline is "bustin' @$$". Very good; will buy again if these gloves ever break down - not any time soon. great gloves November 8, 2012 Great gloves and they gave them away to help victims of hurricane sandy can't beat that in a glove. They are the standard thin cowhide / heavy cloth construction work gloves that many of us have used for years. They offer some protection from yucky stuff and plenty of protection against small scratches and bruises that occur during ordinary handyman stuff. They're not specialty chemical suit gloves or gripper gloves or for training dogs or installing barbed wire and they're not claiming to be. They will disintegrate and tear over time, which can be weeks or months. What I do is keep a newer cleaner pair for handling tools, especially when sanding, and then the previous somewhat worn pair gets used for digging, taking out the garbage, or other dirty stuff instead of sharp stuff. They do wear out but that's the point--to be a cheap shield that takes blows your skin could survive a few of but which you'd just as soon avoid. Compared to big box stores around here, these cost less and they're the same thing, and since they aren't perishable and are a consumable item, just order them in advance with SuperSaver and then it's noticeably less than in a hardware store. May 28, 2017 Good quality gloves to work on your toys. Saved my fingers from cuts and bruises so many times. Used FastFit Gloves for a few small to medium tasks like replacement of brake pads, shocks and struts, rack and pinion assembly, multiple oil changes and some others. For oil changes though i would recommend to use disposable "rubbers", cause this ones soak up oil easily and then leave oily marks on your hands and everything you touch. But if you still decide to do oil change using this gloves it is pretty easy to wash them. I put them in a bucket with a little bit of water and a good amount of degreaser. After multiple wash cycles with heavy chemicals and moderate use on multiple projects no fading or structural damage is noticed. Great Gloves May 17, 2017 I'm an old retired mechanic. These gloves are perfect for me. I like that they absorb the shock of the various air tools, and I also feel safer knowing I will not be 'busting' my knuckles, if a wrench slips. Unless a job is very greasy\oily, I prefer these gloves over the rubber gloves. I'm probably only one of the few that actually washes their gloves. After they get dirty, I wash them. It takes several washes, but they eventually come out very clean. The best gloves on the market! March 25, 2017 I absolutely hate gloves. Never in my life have I had a pair I like. I have a box that must have twenty pairs. Until I bought these.... This pair of Mechanic gloves fit perfectly. My hands don't feel restricted and I can pick up and grip anything. My hands do not get hot or sweaty wearing these. I can work on my old Beetles engine and feel every part and handle everything as if I was using bare hands. The fingers fit perfectly with a no excess or shortness. The material is top notch and the stitching is perfect. I purchased a pair of large and I feel I have average size hands. I plan on buying more pairs for gardening and shooting. These are simply the most amazing gloves on the market. If you hate wearing gloves, or you need to with your job, these are the ones you want. . My backup gloves... March 1, 2017 Mechanix gloves can get pricey. I jumped on this when it came on sale.I use mechanix gloves for all kinds of work. These were so cheap they are my back up gloves that I leave in my car. They fit well on my hand and have decent protection, and keep my hands clean. As with most work gloves, dexterity takes some getting used to, but it will not stop me from the great price! Probably The Most Excellent Glove of Your Life March 12, 2016 Mechanix are my favorite. This is my favorite mechanix glove. It is priced right, is wear resistant, and it fits... well.. like a glove. I might encourage the buyer to measure their glove size online before purchase. For instance, the medium fits great on my hand, while the large is just too baggy. This is important for the good grip and long lasting quality that this glove has to offer. I do highly suggest this company and this particular glove. I worked at the Home Depot (doing all the heavy work) for over a year and I have to say when pushing carts, lifting 100+ bags of cement, and handling wood that I tried many many glove companies and styles. This glove came out as the toughest, best priced, and most skin fitted design. I cannot rave enough about this glove. A customer at The Home Depot was the one that introduced me to it. Nice gloves for nuts and bolts January 7, 2016 Using these to do some mechanical work on cars, they seem to work well and fit great. Not much else to say. I did use the size chart on their website and fit is very good. This model does fit nice, could be used for other things if you don't mind all the writing on them. They seem to be wearing well, they do resist abrasion while still being pliable. |
Four Star Reviews: | 15% All in all not a big disaster but a little disappointed. April 18, 2017 Price was ok and multipack was convienent. There was some variability in the fits and some of them were uncomforable. I probably wouldn't buy this produc again on line. I'd prefer to choose specific gloves I wanted. All in all not a big disaster but a little disappointed. Good April 6, 2017 Quite a few pair in order. Fits very large. Not real thick hands are leather and tops are cotton. Best option for the price June 5, 2016 I'm removing pavers and a concrete patio from my backyard. I've went through 4 of the 5 pairs of gloves because the job is just so hard on gloves. The leather on the middle and index fingers keep wearing through. But....These hold up just as well as the full leather gloves that are much more expensive. As a result, I keep coming back to these gloves as the most cost effective really heavy duty DIY gloves out there. Must Have for Truck Driver > not good for mechanical work September 28, 2014 My husband is a full time local truck driver and a mechanic for 35 years. These gloves are his go to for truck driving, not for working on vehicles. These show brown but we got gray. The wrist has space to allow easy on and off and let's air come through which is great for a type of ventilation for sweaty palms and such. Price per glove is fair, can be purchased individually at Wal-Mart for about the same but delivery is convenient. Good quality glove January 14, 2014 These are good. Not great, but good. I wear them with plain brown gardening gloves as liners, and they work very well. I would rate five stars, but for one big reason:You can find the exact same quality glove at Wal-Mart for 33.33% less ($1.00 per glove vs $1.50 per glove on Amazon). The reason I bought these on Amazon is that Wal-Mart is continually out of stock!Guess you can't have it all. Good for trail work August 14, 2011 I purchased these for doing trail work on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). Our projects would last up to 10 days. These gloves would last for nearly 2 projects if we were primarily doing log out work, but would start to get holes in the fingertips after a week if we were mostly doing rock work. Either way they were comfortable and I never got blisters when using an axe, pulaski, single jack hammers, double jack sledge, crosscut saw, shovel or other trail tools. The only problem I had was that the gloves would stretch out and cause the glove to get so loose that they could easily fall off. I'd give the gloves 5 stars if they remained snug until holes were worn into them. I'm going to stick with these gloves because the great price allows me to replace these frequently.UPDATE: They're still a pretty good deal here, but the price has gone up slightly and have fewer gloves. My first purchase had 6 pairs of gloves, but now it's 5 pairs with a higher price. | 16% Great goes for working on my car and out in ... July 16, 2017 Great goes for working on my car and out in the garage. Although, I was sent the regular velcro version instead of the fastfit gloves. Either was fine for me though. Great for what I do July 13, 2017 Not quite as durable as the more form fitting leather gloves, but much warmer than they are in the winter time. When the leather ones get impregnated with filth you can't wash them. These are washable (best by hand and they do hold a remarkable amount of dirt). And they are flexible enough to wear for long periods of time without becoming irritating. Nice gloves October 20, 2016 Glove run slightly bigger than most brand, but still fits nicely and are very comfortable. Great dexterity and will protection against most minor abbrasions/mishaps. Appears to be well made, so time will tell. Great Brand as Always June 8, 2016 These gloves are very nice. I also bought and reviewed the Material4X FastFit made by Mehcanix. My review is similar, the only difference will be that these gloves aren't as thick as the 4X (Obviously). I also own a pair of the original Mechanix gloves, and these feel thicker and the materials are a little different. Both very durable though. I have not put either these or the 4X through any significant wear and tear yet. I have used these for when I am burning designs into the wood. I accidentally grabbed a bit of the burning tool but my hands were completely protected. The glove did almost melt down a bit or got a little shiny where I burnt them (See Attached Photo) but as far as I can tell the gloves are not significantly damaged other than the visual shine. As I stated with the 4X glove review, these fit very nicely if you follow the sizing chart. My only issue is that the wrist feels a little loose but has never come off. For peace of mind, I wish the wrist was tighter. For that reason only, I gave these a 4 star. I would still recommend them to anyone who works with their hands looking for nice gloves. great gloves for my work December 1, 2015 I love the Fastfit feature, this means that I just slip the gloves off, and on, no hassle with a strap to keep the gloves secure. I use these gloves every day where I work and and as a added bonus these gloves ARE TOUCH SCREEN COMPATIBLE!!! I work with computers and electronics all day and to my delight I found that these gloves work well with touchscreens. the thinness of the gloves give me the ability to fell what I am working on and type on a keyboard at the same time. No more sweaty hands form latex gloves, AND they keep my hands warn (depends on how cold it is in the warehouse) too!! the only reason that I do not give this 5 stars is that it is not in a 3 or 4xl to fit my giant hands other than that great glove for my job! Fits Smaller Than Comparable Gloves November 15, 2014 I bought a pair of these for my bugout bag. Just something to use in a what-if scenario. So I can't comment on durability. They aren't particularly comfortable due to the way the seams are sewn inside the fingers, but I'm not wearing them every day so it's not as much an issue for me. Please note that they fit snug for the size. In many Mechanic's gloves I'm kind of between a medium and a large, but this large pair barely goes over my hands. If you're undecided about size, definitely err on the larger side. |
Three Star Reviews: | 12% split at the seams fairly quickly. At this price ... January 9, 2017 split at the seams fairly quickly. At this price, they need to be considered a "throw-away" item, not a long-term glove. might or not buy again these gloves serve the purpose November 22, 2016 bought these in a hurry for a brother in law we employ at our place from time to time. He didnt say one way or the other but didnt complain about them and has used them on a few occasions when heavy utility gloves were needed. they're not the best but adequate and worth the price. Some pairs were good, some not so much May 27, 2016 3 of the 5 pairs were cut and seamed well. The other two were knotted and so poorly woven that I could not wear them (much too tight and awkward between thumb and index finger). Given the price, Im not sure I can complain. And the other 3 pairs lasted me a graciously long time, given the type of work that I do. 3 stars because I'd rather pay $25 and know I have 5 solid sets of gloves, than pay $15 and not be sure how many of the pairs are going to be usable. Decent gloves for the price May 2, 2014 These gloves seem perfect for what I need them for (doing basic yard work). They do smell very weird as many of the other customers have already pointed out. The smell is the only thing I don't like about these gloves. After I opened them in my room I left and when I came back hours later my room smelled and continued to smell for the rest of the day. But honestly $12 for 6 pairs of gloves is a good deal. I'll just have to wash my hands with soap after using these gloves. ok for the money June 3, 2013 I go through gloves like crazy with my job. So I don't like to spend a lot of money on them but I still need something decent to protect my hands. These do the job just fine and last about as well as can be expected for the money. My only problem with the ones I got is they have a VERY strong odor that takes a while to go away. I can see where some might not even want to use them because of the odor! It must be some chemical they use to preserve them or something but it sure is strong! Also what I did appreciate about these gloves was they are soft right out of the box. Some of the leather work gloves like this are very hard and have a break-in period. Not these they are very usable right out of the box. Hope this helps! | 7% You get what you pay for February 18, 2017 Should have known how flimsy and cheap these were based on what I paid for them. They are definitely, imo, a budget version of work gloves. I owned a pair of mechanix several years ago that had much better materials and build quality. But I guess the old saying is true: you get what you pay for. They're not terrible for ~$11. Mowers, Weedeaters, and Trimmers: Yes. Picking up prickly things: No July 15, 2016 I bought these for light yard work and for when mowing. They are fine when you are using machines but don't get them for anything heavier. Briars will poke through... ouch..The name is correct, probably great for mechanics, but not for anything more. Not that they are bad, just not super great for other uses. Sizing FYI - runs small August 14, 2015 I went to their website and used the pdf document to measure what size glove I would need. By the chart provided, I was just smaller than a large (on both accounts as they provide two ways to measure what size you need). The large that I received is too small for my hand and I should have went with the x-large. Other than that, the glove works like it should and the color blue is the same blue shown in the pictures. Great Fit & Feel. Poor Durability. June 4, 2015 I like the way these glove fit and feel. I was disappointed after only wearing them two times. The seam between the thumb and first finger on the right glove is already coming apart. I realize they are not expensive gloves, but coming apart after such a short period of time is ridicules. Just to be clear, the two times I wore the gloves I was not abusing them. Very light work. I might have just been unlucky and got a bad set. I've owned a number of Mechanix gloves and have always had pretty good wear and tear out of them. Might try another pair, not sure... |
Two Star Reviews: | 8% Might as well be disposable June 15, 2017 Really inferior quality gloves, but for the money, maybe they're OK. Treat them almost like they're disposable, or just use them for very light duty work. Large is not "Large" December 13, 2016 Warning. I always buy "Large" size gloves with no problem. These run small; I had to give them away to some employees as they would not fit. Quality of the product not so good. They smell bad August 1, 2016 Worh the money. Just cheap gloves. Quality of the product not so good. They smell bad. BEWARE! December 19, 2015 BEWARE-- I'm not sure where these gloves were stored, but when the packaging was removed, they reeked of insecticide and or some chemical. I opened them inside the house where my husband was feeding and playing with our 4 month old. There is something dangerous on those gloves and it filled the downstairs with this strong chemical. I immediately put them out in the garage. It stunk up the garage, too. It wasn't until a few hours later that the smell wasn't noticeable anymore. I don't know what is on those gloves, but I'm worried about what chemicals I exposed my family to. I'm grateful I didn't go out to get the package while holding my child. There should be chemical warning on this box- or no chemical used on the product at all.Gloves seem to be what I purchased and will work fine. I'm just not sure if I want to use them became they are coated in some dangerous chemical. BEWARE. Very overpowering smell June 24, 2015 The gloves are strong but they stink to high hell when you open the package. They smell like really strong burnt rubber, or off-gassing chemicals. I ended up throwing them in the dumpster bcs I live in an apartment and had no where to put them. The burnt rubber chemical smell totally overwhelmed my entire 2 bedroom apartment. The gloves might've been alright if I had a shed or garage to let them them air out for a week first. Poor Quality and defective pair with hole in palm September 27, 2014 I've ordered these gloves before because they were heavier duty than what was available in the box stores. The leather on the gloves I just received is much thinner. Also one of the brand new gloves has a hole in the palm making it unusable. Return policy says I have to return defective pair within 30 days or be responsible for both charges. The postage to send it back probably would be more than the value of the glove. | 4% Fall apart quickly. June 6, 2015 I have bought 2 pairs of these for 2 different jobs, one pair from here, the other from Wal-Mart. Both pairs fell apart in less than 3 weeks. They are comfortable and work well for a couple weeks, then the fingers come apart and over another couple weeks they deteriorate until most of 2 or 3 fingers are exposed. For reference, both times I've purchased them for the primary purpose of handling large amounts of cardboard. Feel great, Comfortable, Not Durable Enough March 8, 2014 I'm a FedEx delivery driver. I wear gloves 10+ hours a day five days a week. At first, I ordered these in an X-Large. They were a little smaller then expected, but super comfortable, easy to slip on and off. The seams in the fingers and palm seperated after one month. I figured it was due to them being a little too small, so I ordered the XXL. After one week of use, I have a huge hole in the middle finger on the right glove and I can feel the seam in the left glove seperating as well. I'm really disappointed in the quality of these gloves given the brand name. For casual use, these gloves are fantastic. Very comfortable, moisture wicking, etc etc. But I cannot be asking my wife to re-sew my gloves back together every two weeks. Very LIGHT duty only. January 15, 2013 It seems as if these gloves just aren't made the way they used to be. I should have noticed that many of the positive reviews for these gloves were written way before I purchased a pair. After having gone through 2 pairs in the span of a few months, I can safely say I will be staying away from these and other Mechanix gloves in the future. Not everything is bad. They fit and feel great when new. The problem is their durability, or lack there of. The material of the palm and fingers is very thin and will develop holes if used for anything other than light duty house keeping. I used mine for various gardening and DIY projects, none of which were extensively abusive, and I rapidly wore holes by the fingertips. UPDATED: Quality wend down. April 12, 2010 Updated: May 2011Just received a new pair and feel very disappointed. What was an exceptionally slick and sensitive glove, almost latex like, turned out into ordinary rough "garden quality" product. The leather is much stiffer and internal seams are huge (see the uploaded picture). As the result the gloves are uncomfortable and not sensitive. Would not recommend them anymore.------------------------------Used to be: Very good for the money. Flexible too.The best gloves for the money I've ever had. Mind you they are not the heavy duty gloves, but for the most of the light work around the house or with the car - they are the perfect fit.If you want to avoid these stupid splinters and cuts, which you stare at afterwards and curse silently, get yourself a pair or two.Highly recommended! |
One Star Reviews: | 16% G & F 5015A-5 Premium A+ Grade Cowhide... G & F Gloves April 6, 2017 These gloves were of terrible cheap quality. We returned them successfully. Very low quality October 3, 2016 I just received a five-pack of these and they are very low quality: thin cowhide that appears to have gotten wet at some point, lousy stitching, and actual holes in the leather of one or two. Compared to the ULINE cowhide gloves I have purchased in the past, these are complete junk. I purchased these to place into earthquake preparedness kits for clients, and I cannot in good consciousness include these lousy gloves in my kits. Buyer Beware - Unbearable Odor February 8, 2016 I am not sure how the heck these gloves were manufactured, but once the packaging is removed, they have a just awful odor. It smells something like naphthalene mixed with insecticides and embalming fluid. After wearing a pair for two minutes, the stink permeated my hands and wouldn’t even wash off. My wife made me put them outside as even when contained in a Ziploc bag they still made the kitchen reek.Utterly disgusting. Amazon should investigate and eliminate this product. Bad smell. Poor quality. November 30, 2015 In a 5-pack these were $2.73 a pair, so I know I'm buying cheap gloves. Still, the smell was so bad I had to put them outside for about 3 weeks to air out. They still smell a little but at least they don't stink up the whole room. Also, these are extremely poor quality gloves. Again, I know they are cheap, but I've used 3 pairs so far and all 3 have had a hole in at least one of the gloves. The stitching is very poor.Even if you think of these as single-use/disposable, these aren't great gloves. I'd have been much happier buying a single pair of $15 gloves that will last much longer than all 5 pair of these. Lesson learned. Horrible smell probably unsafe November 1, 2015 I aired them out for two days and they still smelled horid. No one in their right mind would wear them with this overpowering and noxious smell. I tried to return them but could not stand the smell long enough to box them up so I ended up just throwing them away. I'm not exaggerating. These gloves have a really bad toxic smell! So stiff they rubbed blisters INSIDE the gloves. May 5, 2013 I thought these were the same gloves you can find virtually any store: kinda cheap, but adequate and usually coming in a 3-4 pack or something so you can buy a pack for a job and not get bent if they are destroyed and lost. What we got was a torture device. The middle two fingers are hard and stiff as if they'd been dipped in glue and it was allowed to harden. The seams inside the thumb and the pinky rubbed two blisters on my husband's hand and the stiffness of th emiddle fingers caused him to drop things and be unable to grasp others. If it weren't just twelve bucks and not worth the effort, I'd definitely return them. Do NOT recommend. | 4% Thin... just straight thin. Not a ... December 9, 2016 Thin... just straight thin. Not a glove for cold weather, and even though it was a prime item, it still cost almost 6 bucks to send back. They sizes also did not work in our favor. Not worth the price tag December 1, 2016 They tare up rather quickly. I will not buy these again. They lasted less than a month before they had holes in the fingers. I am union electrician using the glove while doing normal electrical work. Used to be a 5 star value is now one star junk. February 26, 2016 I bought a pair of these a couple of years ago and loved them. I bought three more pairs and put a pair in each car and in my shooting/range bag. What I loved the most was the perfect fit; snug enough for shooting or mechanical work without the fingers being too short or binding. After getting one pair extremely greasy working on my Jeep last weekend I decided to buy another pair. I just received them and I am disgusted! The design has changed; there is less elastic and stitching around the wrist, the stitching around the thumb is different and now the thumb is too short and uncomfortable and the material feels thinner. I guess that's why they are about a dollar cheaper than the first ones I bought. These gloves have went from a 5 star value to one star junk. Pay attention to the dates as you read the other reviews, older reviews will not apply to the gloves you will receive. definitely not durable and long lasting November 14, 2013 Needed a pair of gloves to wear while unpacking boxes and stocking my store. Figured these would allow me to keep my dexterity while doing so. That, they did, last, they did not. After about two weeks of opening and handling cardboard boxes they ripped at the finger tips. You get what you pay for I guess. Not sure how they are so highly rated by people using mechanical devices. Poor quality. September 9, 2013 Mine fell apart at the seams after very little light duty use. This was a huge disappointment, especially considering that I have had other models of Mechanix Wear gloves in the past that were practically indestructible. I wouldn't buy this style again. |
