Five Star Reviews: | 74% Cuts like a dream but lube the gear. February 4, 2017 Well the first one I bought was used to cut up some tough eucalyptus we couldn't split with the Stickler and we burned it up. We took it apart and there is a plastic gear made from fiber filled Nylon and that stripped out. Also we had no idea how much oil this chainsaw used and we probably ran it dry. The second one we got, we immediately took it apart and lubed the gear with Stalube white lithium grease from Amazon figuring we had depended on the nylon to lubricate the gears and it just melted the Nylon gear. Also, this uses a lot of oil so keep the reservoir topped up when using it. So far we have cut a lot of eucalyptus and had no problems. I suspect this one is going to last a long time. After looking into electric chain saws, it seems to me like they all use a plastic reduction gear and there are complaints of them all stripping out or melting. I suspect none of them are lubed at the factory. Oh yes, replacement gears seem to be unavailable anywhere. This thing cuts like a dream. Unbelievable value, performance for $100. September 8, 2016 A massive oak tree, 6 ft diameter, at the base, fell in a wind storm and crushed my car. I bought this WORK chainsaw to cut it up. Yes, with an 18 inch bar. It was phenomenal, cut easily and fast. Didn't need to sharpen chain till 3/4 way through the job. I get amazing, [almost faces of unbelief] stares from men when they find it's electric. Just haven't cut the last 16 feet of the trunk, which goes from 3 feet to 6 feet. Cut from both sides of the tree to get to the middle, once is was thicker than 18 inches in diameter. I repeat, despite twists, and pressure points, in a fallen tree, on a crushed car, and a damaged roof, this chainsaw cut easily, fast, without any hassles. Of course I had to use common sense in cutting through the pressure points, cutting from underneath, too. Cost me $107. Works now as if I had just begun cutting. Absolutely amazing deal for a $100 chain saw. I have pics! Powerful and easy to use. August 29, 2016 I have had many large branches fall from my large trees over the years. I've never used a chainsaw to cut them up, only a hack saw. I was sick and tired of that so I decided to finally buy a chainsaw. I wanted the ease of use of an electric chainsaw while still having a large saw blade incase I needed to cut down a whole tree down the road. This saw was perfect on the first branch that I cut up. For safety purposes I watched a few youtube videos about the proper handling of a chainsaw and then I went to it. The oil reservoir was easy to fill and I only did a few revolutions of the saw blade to get it fully oiled. I then began my task as was done in just a few minutes. My only complaint is that the instruction manuals were written with WAY too many warnings in them, so much so that it wasn't easy to find that the kickback guard has to be placed vertically for the chainsaw to run. That made sense, but it took me a little bit to find that to get it running the first time. Unsure about Electric Saw until I used it!!! February 22, 2014 I had a semi-dead Cottonwood tree that was over 70ft tall and 21 inches in diameter. If it fell, it would take-out power, cable & phones lines. I have an old 16" Homelite XL that I've had for years that needed a chain & bar, and I realized that I only use it every year or 2, it spent all of it's time in the shed. I was tired of mixing gas & oil plus having the leftover go sour. I ran across this WORX saw on Amazon and decided to research it. I didn't find many helpful reviews as most bought this to saw-up limbs & branches after a storm, and I needed it for a monster tree. I am 65yrs old and in relatively good health. I have felled many trees in my day but couldn't do this tree in 1-shot because of the utility lines. Setting-up the ladder and climbing up & down it was the hardest part of my chore..... THIS SAW MADE THE JOB EASY!!! After topping the tree, I came down to where the trunk forked into 2 huge limbs that were each 13 inches in diameter. I know some will doubt me but this saw went through them like hot butter!!! This left me with the main trunk and like I stated earlier, it was 21 inches thru... I cut it about 6 inches above the ground and working my way around 3 sides of it, the saw went right through it. I did cut it about halfway thru and then drove a wooden wedge in behind the blade to keep it from pinching. I can not say enough about how GOOD and POWERFUL this saw is. When ordering I ordered an extra chain, a quart of bar oil, and a heavy duty 100ft 15amp extension cord. I needed the cord, but could have saved money by not purchasing the chain and oil because the tree is now completely cut-up and the chain is still sharp... and the bar oil reservoir still has oil in it (using only the oil that came with the saw). If you're looking for a commercial saw, this wouldn't be it, but for work around your house.. THIS SAW WILL DO THE JOB! and.... You'll never have to mix gas & oil again!!!.... me either! :) With a generator you can cut wood anywhere!! lol I hardly ever post reviews, but I'm amazed how far technology has come, and the power this electric saw has... It's no toy!!! WOW,LOVE THIS THING!!! February 10, 2014 I bought this ,Needed one to cuts alots woods, Trimming, cutting Branches & get the yard ready for Spring & Summer around my house ,SO i choice this electric one, instead of GAS model & i MADE A GREAT CHOICE .. alots cheaper an gas ones & CUTS tress and branches around my house like a hot knife on butter,..works smooooth ,Sharp Cutter, POWERFUL & cuts anything I throw at him! GOOD thing about it... Low Maintenance,DON'T NEEDS any tools ,Gas or BULKY Battery & PLUS with alot LESS NOISE, PERFECT ..JUST put some oil in the oil pan and tighten up the chain a bit with the BIG nob on the side ,and WALLA.. ready to go work with it..right out the BOX!! Between 303 model and this is 304,such as is higher model , only $20 deferents between the two models, NOT THAT MUCH , i guess NO brainier, I went with this 304 model instead ..U'll get with this model , more HORSE POWER Longer & Stronger SAW for Thicker Woods, logs & Cutting mature Tress,...love the machine,.. works FLAWLESS!!! GREAT BUY!! | 83% worth the money! October 11, 2017 Great and necessary for high amp draw applications, like power washer, electric chain-saw, so voltage does not drop over this long distance and place motor at risk. It is too heavy to drag around yard for electric mower, but this is the exception. Very handy feature to have plug illuminated when 'live'. Worth the money to spend over ordering the 14g and quite insufficient and very limited usage 16g cords! Quality counts when running long distances. August 10, 2017 Needed a 12 gauge power cord for use with our generator. Avoid the 14 gauge versions if you can because they're not designed for long term heavy loads on the line, especially for tools or motors. This is definitely a high quality power cord and will be great for saws and refrigerators when running long distances without negatively impacting the motors. My Hubby Is A Happy Camper Now! August 1, 2017 I purchased this cord for my husband for our motor home and he is VERY happy that I did. It will power up our unit and never gets even warm to the touch. He has borrowed a friends cord and plugged into that one and said it would be really hot to the touch when he unplugged it, Not the case with this one. He has stated many, many times how happy he is with it. Works great for electric snow blower March 10, 2017 Purchased this to use outside for my electric snow blower. Works great. I can say it doesn't remain very flexible in very cold temperatures. I was out there in -10 and it was pretty stiff right away. Not a big deal for me as I don't really need the cord to be very flexible when I'm using it to snow blow. Although when you try to put it away and it's almost completely rigid it makes it a little difficult. Very happy with purchase, recommended. Nice, durable, flexible, all weather cable. November 13, 2016 I work in a school shop. It has a series of fixed receptacles in overhead cable trays and it has hard piped dust collection tubes running to specific locations. All of this worked well 50 years ago when the shop was built, but replacements and repairs have resulted in tools that either are close to required power, or close to the dust collection drops, but not both. Connecting the tools to the dust collector results in power cords all over the shop that are 2 or 3 feet too short. Previously, this was solved by installing a whole bunch of cheap 16 ga extension cords all over the shop, and containing the excess cord by tying them to the dust collector runs with bungee cords. Ugly, probably not very safe, and certainly not "good" for the tools. So I am in the process of putting 12 ga line cords on all the stationary tools, replacing the old damaged plugs with properly installed and grounded ones and installing proper strain reliefs at each receptacle. It turns out cheaper to buy a couple of these cords than to buy a comparable length of cable only. Great cord at a great price. August 4, 2016 Pleasantly surprised at the quality of this cord considering it was $20 cheaper than the other cords of similar rating and size and made in China. I've used it pretty much every day for over a month now and it's held up well. It is a little heavy physically to work with, but it protects my power tools so I don't mind the workout. | 76% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 12% Good Product July 24, 2017 I had a bunch of 3-8" trees that needed to be removed and this chainsaw worked out perfectly. Much easier than a gas powered chainsaw, especially for small jobs. The chain popped off only once on a difficult cut but was easily refitted and tightened without any major issues. The only issue is that the chain oil seems to run out - I filled it and by the time I finished cutting down the trees, the oil was all gone. That is my only gripe with the chainsaw. I guess I will need to go buy more before using it again. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase and the chainsaw helped remove several trees with ease. Solid high power electric chainsaw March 20, 2017 This is a pretty good electric chainsaw. So far I really like it. I have only used it to cut a 14" diameter palm tree and a smaller 10" diameter palm tree so far. It was relatively easy to clean afterwards. The tensioning system and auto-oiler work well. The motor handled it without slowing. It has not tripped my 15A breaker even when binding. My previous electric chainsaw was a 14" Remington that the motor overheated on after cutting about a dozen large trees down over 10 years. Did a great job with tree January 22, 2017 Just used to take down a 30' Bradford Pear tree. Worked great. Chain came off twice during 2 hours of cutting, but was very easy to put back on by removing the auto tensioner. Plenty of power. Used on standard extension cord and did not pop 20A breaker. Auto tensioner loosens a little during cutting as it comes in contact with whats being cut, could have some type of locking device to make it better. Great value for the $98 I paid for it. Lightweight saw well suited for smaller jobs September 24, 2016 I like this chainsaw, and would recommend it for around-the-house trimming. Worked great for a weekend project of clearing some overgownjunipers with trunks that were upwards of 8" diameter. Definitely struggled a bit on the larger cuts - not sure if it's a question of power or the chain dulling (it was doing a lot of work there). Pros: Much lighter weight than a gas chainsaw, which I appreciated since I was working in tight spaces. Easy to maintain, you can take off the chain without tools, it's self-lubing, and has some good safety features. Cons: Not as powerful as a gas powered saw. It's got plenty of torque to get the job done, but you won't be cutting firewood with this. Chain popped off a LOT, despite any tension settings I put on it. Could be my technique. Also kind of flimsy feeling, although I can't put that into anything concrete - just doesn't feel that substantial and there's a lot more plastic than metal. Also, just a note, It comes with very little chain oil, be sure to buy more before starting your first job. Did a good job August 3, 2016 Bought this to cut up a downed tree in the yard (about 12 inches diameter). It was cheaper than having my gas chainsaw worked on to get it running properly. It did a good job, It is a little odd at first because the brake stops the chain so quickly when you let off the trigger, it feels like a gas saw when you have the chain too tight. Cut up the tree with no trouble at all. As others have observed, it goes through the chain oil very quickly- but the oil it comes with appears to be 30 weight instead of the thick chain oil you use in a gas saw- so it's cheap to refill with engine oil. Haven't had a lot of use since the tree, so no data on longevity, but seems good so far. | 12% Nice extension cord! Heavy duty and heavy weight! May 23, 2017 This is a HEAVY extension cord. Phew!Mine came packaged exactly as pictured on this page.Weight seems more like 20# than 13# as listed, but I didn't weigh it yet. I have mineon an orange reel advertised for 150ft extension cord, and as other reviewers have noted,it BARELY fits (but it DOES fit).If I had it to do over again, I think I'd get the 14ga. For 100ft, I think my power losseswould be minimal, and it would be lighter to carry around and fit on that spool nicer. Nice cord, good price April 7, 2017 Nice heavy duty cord. A bit stiff, hopefully it'll relax after some use. Four Stars March 17, 2017 Cord works great. Seems to be of high quality. I will re-review if any problems arise over time. Four Stars December 7, 2014 Very nice, thick, heavy duty, long, lit to let you know it has power. Very happy with this purchase. The stupid cord reel amazon says goes good with it absolutely sucks. I suppose it would be good if you used it with a smaller gauge wire extension cord. Trying to use it with this cord, i always end up scraping my knuckles. The little clip on the inner spool DOES NOT FIT this cord, and would only fit a VERY small cord, as in what you might find on a lamp. But then why would you need a cord reel for a cord that small, or even have a long extension cord made of cord that small. It was easy to pull around July 26, 2014 I just used this to connect my paint sprayer and painted the fence in the backyard. It was easy to pull around. I don't consider this cord too heavy to work with and was able to wrap it in my hand and put it away. To give you an idea, this felt lighter to me than my 50 ft garden hose. My only qualm is that it tends to get twisted easily. So when putting it away, it is better to get a reel and wrap it around it so it stays in it's original shape. I like that it is yellow and very visible in the grass. Super-duper heavy-duty...almost too much! July 5, 2013 I bought this to replace an old, lesser-duty extension cord that I hypothesized was to blame for my electric mower failing. I bought this as both a replacement and upgrade, figuring it would provide greater power to the mower. It turns out I was right about the cord being the weak link. While expensive, this was a far cheaper option than replacing the mower. The only con I have should probably be directed at the mower, but the cord is so dang thick that the keeper mechanism on both my mower and trimmer do not accommodate the bulk of the cord. I've resorted to a velcro strip mechanism to lash the cord to the mower's handle, but I just have to let the cord dangle from the trimmer. This has resulted in the cord being pulled out of the trimmer multiple times as it snags on something. Hopefully, this won't impact the lifespan of the cord, though it it quite annoying. | 14% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 4% just don't like the tensioning aspect August 1, 2017 does what it's supposed to, just don't like the tensioning aspect Buy something of higher quality if you can. April 12, 2017 The chainsaw came pre assembled. Initially the chain kept jumping off the bar. But after fixing it and tightening as much as possible, it worked just fine. I use it for trimming branches so no heavy work. I did notice some bar oil leaking on the ground where I left it overnight. I saw some other reviews that had these same issues. So overall not terrible but not great either. Nice saw, bad choice of chain by worx March 14, 2017 Nice chainsaw but it's oddball tooth count chain the is only online no one locally sales this chain. Required s63 I really like this electric chainsaw June 20, 2015 I really like this electric chainsaw. Have used it about 6-8 hours how. have sharpened the chain a few times. will throw the chain if not kept tight as most will. cuts as fast as a 40cc gas saw with out the flumes. Now for why only 3 stares! THERE ARE NO SPARE PARTS FROM WORX FOR THEIR SAWS. NO MAIN GEAR. ON CHAIN DRIVE SPROCKET. NO MOTOR BRUSHES , NO CHAIN OIL PUMP. NO REPLACEMENT MOTOR, NO AUTO CHAIN ADJUSTER , AS I was going to order some of these ware parts for spares. and have found out from worx that they do not have spare parts, only a exchange if the saw is still under warranty, if not you will not be able to buy a replacement part. I do not know this for a fact. as this is what I read in someone else's review but! the other reviewer said the cost to ship the saw back was $35. I have decided to kept the saw in the hopes that the ware parts will last. and I will get a long term use of the saw, worx does have a spare bar and chain and an oil tank cap listed in their parts web page. epart.com also has the same spare parts a worx has that being the bar, chain, oil tank cap??? . Parts unavailable January 30, 2013 I have a lot of firewood to cut. I don't want any more hassles with gas-powered chainsaws, and I haul my wood to a convenient location with ac power accessible. I ordered this Worx 18" electric chainsaw a couple of months ago. From the start I was impressed with the power and ability to cut through anything. I have cut over four cords of wood. So, as for doing the job, I give this saw a 10 star rating. Howevver, here come the issues. Finding the correct replacement chain loops wasn't easy, but I found them and orderd two. HOWEVER, the chain housing part 50020478 Chain Housing WG303/304 broke last week. So, I called Worx to buy a replacement. I was told that there is no replacement price for this part, but that it is a covered by the warranty, since I just bought it a couple of months ago. I was told that the part would go out in 3-5 business days, and I received an order confirmation email. Well, I never received any shipping information. So, I called this morning to check on the order status, and I was surprised to be told that this part is back-ordered, with no estimated delivery date, and that I am to call back in two weeks to get an update. Meanwhile, I have six cords of wood that need cutting. I am surprised and disappointed that this part is not inventoried, since it looks like the same part that is on the 14", 16" and 18" saws. This, to me, is unacceptable. I will have serious reservations about ordering anything from Worx in the future if they have such poor, after-market support for their products. | 3% Not great for cold temps January 11, 2017 This cord is so heavy - and while I know it has to be, it makes it really cumbersome to carry around. I bought it for my electric snowblower and in cold temps this cord turns into a stiff, unmoving mass. I'm sure in the warmer months it will be great but I wont need it then. Not flexible below 30 degrees. December 18, 2016 Cord is not suitable for low temperatures. Some reviews indicated it will work below 30 degrees. Electrically it works fine. Flexibility is the main issue. Well built cord though. Too stiff December 14, 2016 Great length, gets tangled easily, too stiff for my use. I had a 75 footer that was very flexible even in very cold weather, this isn't a great replacement... I would recommend a heavier duty extension for commercial-industrial use July 1, 2016 I use these only for occasional use when portable generators are needed to provide back-up power. I would recommend a heavier duty extension for commercial-industrial use, however. Heavy Duty, heavy weight May 11, 2016 it was a good buy but I will say, if your thinking about buying one of these, it's very heavy, weight wise. If weight is a concern for you, go with a lighter gauge. The price on Amazon is much better then elsewhere and that offsets some of the quality ... July 31, 2015 The wire is heavy duty, but the connecting ends both male and female are cheap quality. The price on Amazon is much better then elsewhere and that offsets some of the quality issues. | 2% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 2% Is this a joke?!!!!! August 27, 2017 It runs and makes noise, but it doesn't cut. I would consider this a toy at best. Nice safety features, lightweight, and quiet sounded perfect. The critical flaw is that it won't cut!!!! I bought it to cut down some small trees (less than 6" diameter), and the saw could cut only about 1 or 2 inches into the wood. Luckily, I had my Sawzall handy, and took the trees down with that. Afterwards, I tested the saw to see if it could cut anything at all. I found that it does cut dry logs, which is only helpful if you have a real saw to cut the tree down in the first place! I'm returning this ass soon as I can find a box big enough to ship it back.... Update: I just found out that this item can't be returned. Now, I just feel CHEATED! flimsy, not quality July 7, 2017 OK for Very lite work, flimsy. do not cut hard wood over 5 inches thick with this. lasted about 10 hours of use and then the plastic gears failed. if possible find a better quality Not great, not good, ok at best June 17, 2017 It's light weight, easy to use, and works ok when it's working. Unfortunately: It drinks oil like mad The chain falls off constantly, and it certainly doesn't "auto tension" the chain like it says it does. In the end, I wish I'd gone with a different brand, and may end up returning it should it continue to exhibit flaws I have big experience with an electrical chainsaws and i Can sat that this is a good one. I posted 5 stars for the 16" ... October 3, 2016 Extremely powerfull chainsaw! I have big experience with an electrical chainsaws and i Can sat that this is a good one. I posted 5 stars for the 16" model, but can not say that for this particular case. I had it for very short time and it worked perfect , before the engine stopped. I love this brand name and expect that my case is and exception. Chain comes off repeatedly when topping hedges! August 27, 2016 I previously used a gas chainsaw for topping (cutting) my hedges down by about 3 feet when they eventually grew above window level as ordinary hedge trimmers aren't up to the task. Never once did I have an issue with the chain coming off when used for this purpose. So when my gas chainsaw finally died, I decided to by the Wor WG304.1 chainsaw based on the Amazon reviews. This chainsaw may work fine in the vertical position (e.g cutting logs), but it fails miserably in the horizontal position (e.g. topping hedges). When I first started cutting horizontally along the top of the hedges, the chain came off after 30 seconds. Ok, I figured I didn't have the chain on tight enough, so I re-attached the chain and adjusted the chain tension to be tighter, but the chain came off again after another 30 seconds of cutting. I reattached the chain again, only only cut in 10 second increments before adjusting the chain tension, but the chain came off again and again. No matter how tightly I applied tension to the chain--or how often-- the chain invariably comes off when cutting in the horizontal position after 10-30 seconds of cuttting. As this chainsaw doesn't suit my needs, I tried returning it only to find out that it's not available for return. Buyer beware! | 0% Two Stars May 31, 2016 Due to weight of cord it does not stay connected to items. I would not buy it again. Beware Big Deals, Inc. - Apparently not an authentic, branded "US Wire" product. March 17, 2016 Beware of Big Deals, Inc. I don't believe they are shipping an authentic branded "US Wire & Cable" product. The actual cable was imprinted with "Ningbo Linsheng Electrical Co.".The cable did not come with the expected product packaging stating "US Wire & Cable", only the cable with shrink-wrap.The female connector was very loose, and could not be tightened, which is a sign of an inferior product.I had to buy a short extension adapter, to make the cable usable, to prevent it from continually falling out of any tool connector.(Cost of return shipping made it cost ineffective to request a refund.)I checked online that Ningbo Linsheng is a real Chinese manufacturer, and the cable did include UL labels, so I hope the cord is safe. But it appears falsely advertised and sold under the "US Wire & Cable" branded listing.Big Deals, Inc. and the listing said that some US Wire products are now made in China, but I suspect that disclaimer only gives them cover to sell any Chinese knockoff. Lack of any "US Wire" brand labeling leaves doubt. Dissapoint February 2, 2016 So stiff when temperature is at only 32 degrees Fahrenheit that it is nearly impossible to handle.Plug ends are not what I would describe as heavy duty. There are easily bent.Just remember it's stiff stiff stiff in cold temperature if you consider 32F cold. One Star Reviews: | 8% DO NOT BUY!!! September 8, 2017 Junk! I used this to cut down a couple of saplings and the chain is dull already. Also, the chain pops off frequently. The tensioner does not work. Poor quality control September 6, 2017 Didn't work right out of the box. Read instructions page for page before trying and checked power source against other power tools including a 15 year old Remington electric chainsaw and they all powered up fine. Called Worx to see if this is a common issue and could not get a straight answer out of them. Just another version of send it back which of course I'll have to do but with Amazon Bad design! September 6, 2017 The auto adjust feature is a faulty design. Used saw one hour, chain came off, chain won't tighten. Do not buy this piece of junk. very dull and fell a part as i was trying to ... August 14, 2017 the thing did not cut right, very dull and fell a part as i was trying to look at the tension mechnizem Prepare for disappointment if you purchase this July 5, 2016 This is an awful chainsaw. I was really excited to get this because I have a lot of small trees I wanted to cut in my yard but this can barely make it through branches. It burns through chain oil quickly and the chain adjuster does not work. After trying to use this on several trees i switched back to a hand saw. Amazon also does not accept returns at all for this product so i'm stuck with it. | 2% One Star October 3, 2017 the extention cords are fine, nothing wrong with them, but I will never buy anything from this company again. One Star March 25, 2017 To stiff to use with electric snow blower. Found a more flexible and less expensive locally. It catches file on my second use! March 14, 2017 It catches file on my second use!I plugged in a snow thrower that uses 15A, which is the labelled as max allowed current on this cord. It was only fine in my first use, which lasted about 2 hours. However, when I used it a second time to clean up after a huge storm, only after going on for 30 mins, I noticed a white flash from the connector, then it started to burn! Feeling surreal myself (WHY WOULD AN EXTENSION CORD BE MADE OF COMBASTIBLE MATERIAL ANYWAY?!), I unplugged it, and plugged in again after cooling down. But it immediately burn again and made the whole connector roasted black. You can imagine how frustrated and exhausted I feel with the snow thrower but no extension cord and having to shovel the whole front paved walkway myself! Dead on Arrival! August 13, 2016 Cord did not work. How hard is it to check an extension cord before the factory ships it out? DO NOT BUY THIS CORD February 18, 2015 This is one of the worst cords out there, I'm a rough framer and use cord daily, and this cord is extremely stiff damn near impossible to roll up and casing feels like a cheap breakable plastic. | 8% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
