Even better than expected!
September 22, 2017
Have made many cuts, and am just now considering using the self-sharpening feature. More than one previous reviewer complained about the chain coming off the bar if they just let go of the switch abruptly. I have abruptly let go.of the switch from the beginning, without any nproblems at all. (I guess these negative comments were from people who have no idea as to how to set blade tension.)Further, I find the build quality to be excellent, and it cuts much faster and better than my 46cc gas chainsaw, which is always a pain to start, stinks, and the chain tension nearly always has to be reset, after 2 or 3 cuts. (Haven't used the gas saw since I got the Oregon CS1500.)I highly recommend this product t!
Well worth the price.

I own a Huskvarna 455 Rancher chain saw but wanted one that I can trim slabs before turning into bowls without breaking out the big saw. Have trimmed several blanks since receiving it with no problems, you just have to really concentrate on keeping the chain tension correct until the chain is broken in. I almost let the chain stretch get away from me which would have the chain to jump off of the bar.
Plenty of power and easy to use
February 6, 2017
Bought to replace a Remington chain saw that had too small a bar for my current project. Other reviewers said the had trouble with the chain coming off. I made it a point to look it over carefully before the first use and noticed the bottom of the chain was off the track to start with. It is much easier to tention and guide the chain onto the bar with the cover off. You need a flat worksurface to properly work on it. Make sure to tention and arrange the chain before putting the cover back on. This saw has plenty of power for medium jobs and the 5 second chain sharpener works great! Love this saw !
LOVE IT! No more hard to start gas engines!

Bought this saw as a replacement for the last gas chainsaw I'll ever own. (Like they can't design an engine that will run for more than one season on ethanol?)Easy to set up, amazingly simple chain adjustment and best of all - cuts wood quickly.Pros:* QUICK chain stop!* QUICK chain adjustment* Saw cut quickly through test log throwing shavings (NOT dust!) everywhere!* - NO MORE RUINED CARBURETORS FROM ETHANOL! (Sorry local saw repair shops!)* - No more mixing gas, adding Stabil, cursing when it doesn't start, trying starting fluid, fouling plugs and if you get it running then it mysteriously stop working half-way through a truck load of wood... 25 miles from home out in the woods. This saw simply WORKS.Cons:* - You must remove chain to do initial prime of season or when new. It literally took 2 minutes to prime the oil to the chain for first use. Not a big deal but be patient!... it REALLY does take 2 minutes! (Prime over top of some newspapers or cardboard as it'll start dribbling oil when the prime cycle is complete and ready to reinstall chain.)* - Bar oil filler cap is small and awkwardly located. Sure, you can use a funnel... but what happens to every funnel you carry into the woods? Yeah - and BEFORE you lose the thing it will accumulate enough dirt and shavings that you'll have to clean it. ( Design team - alter the filler cap to readily fill direct from bar oil container. )* - Ya gotta use this near a power source or take a generator with you to cut wood. (Not a con for me as this was specifically purchased to use around rental properties and wood pile at home where outlets are available.)I do not expect this saw to replace a 3,000HP turbocharged twenty-mule team chainsaw - I expect it to do what any home chainsaw would do. We'll see how long it lasts but let's face it - given how ethanol is killing engines how can this saw NOT last longer?
Great for my backyard needs
December 3, 2016
I purchased it to replace a Poulan gas chain saw which was good but, because of infrequent use, wouldn't start easily if at all. I think this is true of all 2 cycle gasoline engines (same problem with my lawn mower). The Oregon 1500 meets my needs regarding cutting up even fairly large-diameter logs for splitting. It's obviously not as portable as a gas chain saw, but since my use is now limited to my back and side yards, an electric powered corded saw is a great option. Starts all the time - just top off bar/chain oil when needed. Has more than enough capacity. I haven't yet tried the self-sharpening feature, but it looks like a great convenience. If you're going to use more than a 50' extension cord, follow their instructions and get a larger capacity cord to minimize voltage drop.
Great Buy!
May 17, 2016
Had a little bit of an issue the first time oil was added. The directions say the gauge shows in just a few minutes whereas mine had to sit over night before it showed on the gauge. That was my one and only issue though. I am a 65 year old female and knew I could never pull start a chainsaw so was delighted with this saw. It cuts great and is easy to handle. Of course, it has a little weight to it but is manageable. I would recommend this saw to anyone who doesn't need or want a pull start chainsaw.

worth the money!
October 11, 2017
Great and necessary for high amp draw applications, like power washer, electric chain-saw, so voltage does not drop over this long distance and place motor at risk. It is too heavy to drag around yard for electric mower, but this is the exception. Very handy feature to have plug illuminated when 'live'. Worth the money to spend over ordering the 14g and quite insufficient and very limited usage 16g cords!
Quality counts when running long distances.
August 10, 2017
Needed a 12 gauge power cord for use with our generator. Avoid the 14 gauge versions if you can because they're not designed for long term heavy loads on the line, especially for tools or motors. This is definitely a high quality power cord and will be great for saws and refrigerators when running long distances without negatively impacting the motors.
My Hubby Is A Happy Camper Now!
August 1, 2017
I purchased this cord for my husband for our motor home and he is VERY happy that I did. It will power up our unit and never gets even warm to the touch. He has borrowed a friends cord and plugged into that one and said it would be really hot to the touch when he unplugged it, Not the case with this one. He has stated many, many times how happy he is with it.
Works great for electric snow blower
March 10, 2017
Purchased this to use outside for my electric snow blower. Works great. I can say it doesn't remain very flexible in very cold temperatures. I was out there in -10 and it was pretty stiff right away. Not a big deal for me as I don't really need the cord to be very flexible when I'm using it to snow blow. Although when you try to put it away and it's almost completely rigid it makes it a little difficult. Very happy with purchase, recommended.
Nice, durable, flexible, all weather cable.
November 13, 2016
I work in a school shop. It has a series of fixed receptacles in overhead cable trays and it has hard piped dust collection tubes running to specific locations. All of this worked well 50 years ago when the shop was built, but replacements and repairs have resulted in tools that either are close to required power, or close to the dust collection drops, but not both. Connecting the tools to the dust collector results in power cords all over the shop that are 2 or 3 feet too short. Previously, this was solved by installing a whole bunch of cheap 16 ga extension cords all over the shop, and containing the excess cord by tying them to the dust collector runs with bungee cords. Ugly, probably not very safe, and certainly not "good" for the tools. So I am in the process of putting 12 ga line cords on all the stationary tools, replacing the old damaged plugs with properly installed and grounded ones and installing proper strain reliefs at each receptacle. It turns out cheaper to buy a couple of these cords than to buy a comparable length of cable only.
Great cord at a great price.
August 4, 2016
Pleasantly surprised at the quality of this cord considering it was $20 cheaper than the other cords of similar rating and size and made in China. I've used it pretty much every day for over a month now and it's held up well. It is a little heavy physically to work with, but it protects my power tools so I don't mind the workout.

Nice light duty saw
June 13, 2017
For light duty trimming, this saw is a very good buy. It certainly isn't a my 18" Poulan gas-powered monster cutter, but it is oh-so-very quiet and works well. I spent about two hours this past weekend trimming some over grown trees along my driveway and it handled up to 4" diameter limbs without a pause. The light weight aspect of this saw really comes in handy for exactly this kind of work. I then took it into the shop and trimmed off a couple of smaller turning and carving blanks up to 6" thick and again there was no problem (I wouldn't dream of using the gas saw indoors.) I sharpened the blade once at the tail end of the day even through it really didn't need it yet, just to see how that process worked . I have to say that I am very pleasantly surprised by how well that worked, as the sharpener was one of the major reasons that I made this purchase. My only concern is the amount of plastic, although it does appear to be heavy duty, so time will tell how it stands up to the limited use this will get in my yard and shop. Over all, I am very happy with this purchase, and would have given an extra 1/2 star if I could.
Cut to the quick. Invest in oil futures now.
March 9, 2017
After having one go missing I bought this locally in 2015. With it I have felled two 20 year old walnuts and a 50+ year four pronged wild cherry tree with surprising ease for an electric.Self sharpening is wonderful. However the lever is plastic and like mine can break. However Oregon is a wonderful company and I had a replacement sharpening bit and lever within 3 days.Pros:Solid customer supportBuilt to take excessive abuse. (except the sharpening lever.)Light weight (for a chainsaw, A bit hefty compared to electrics, but its all power)No fumesNo oil/gas mixtureQuick release emergency break, which being electric isnt really needed given that the moment you take your finger off the trigger the chain stops. No lag what so ever,Nice balance between all purpose cutting blade (16 inch) and powerful motor, all while remaining fairly light all things considered.powerful 18 amp (consider your washer, Fridge other large housewares typically pull off of 20 amp breakers.) motor.Cons:Heavy (for an electric)absolutely Drinks bar chain oil (2 quarts in one full year of cutting and half a year of light duty is a bit much for the quality of oil used.)Sharpener works a little too well and you can grind a chain pretty quickly. Ive only cut for 1.5 years and I already feel like I need a new chain. Maybe its just that it makes sharpening a bit too much fun.The chain likes to pop off a little too easily. The mechanism that sets up the bar and turns the chain then tightens the whole thing requires two separate turns on the big knob. The problem is if you do not get the first thread on right, the second thread will pop off within minutes, if not seconds.Bar is shorter than I would like and I had trouble with the wild cherry trunk having to cut out wedges to break it down. However theoretically can be upgraded to 18 or even 20 inch with relative ease.Summary: If your work can be done at the length of an extension cord (Or you have a generator or strong truck battery power inverter) this thing is a beast for what it is, and what it costs. However most of its "pros" seem to be in line with the advantages of using electric over gas/oil. Its cons are its own, warts and all, however none of them are really that bad considering the total package.Definitely worth my money, even having to pay 25$ more buying it locally.

Works great but had problems with the chain coming off at first.
Great for cutting rounds, can go full bar depth
December 30, 2015
I've cut about 5 cedar trees up with this saw. My experience is that for cutting rounds, this saw is very capable. I was able to cut 17" rounds easily with good chip out. For limbing, the chain leaves something to be desired. Due to the unique self sharpening chain, I found the chain teeth have a tendency to snag anything it comes near. This in turn caused the chain to come off multiple times. Another potential cause for chain derailment is that the chain comes to an immediate stop when the trigger is deactivated. After adjusting the chain as tight as I dared, and learning to feather the throttle off, I was able to stop the persistent chain derailment. Because of the self sharpening feature, I tested it by cutting up the uprooted stump. I pressure washed most of the dirt from the stump prior to my test. I was able to cut through the roots with little to no issue. After the chain slowed and the chips turned to dust, I activated the self sharpening feature and was pleasantly surprised to find the Dust turned back to chips. The self sharpened chain does not cut as nice as the factory sharpening, but remains very usable.Overall this is a very good saw for the price. I would recommend a 20A outlet over the 15A because this saw can still trip the breaker as it uses all 15A of power. The Safety kickback works as expected. I give this saw 4 stars because of the chain's tendency to snag and jump. If the unit wasn't specifically designed for this chain, I would not take the chain performance into the review and would probably recommend 5 stars.

October 17, 2015
I have owned other electric chain saws in the past and gas saws as well. I have used this saw once and so far it has performed well. I like the fact that it has a self sharpener and it is very easy to adjust the chain tension and remove and reinstall the chain. Make sure you use gloves and keep in mind, the chain is sharp. This saw also has the most power for all the Electrics I looked at.
Good Saw But Keep That Chain Lubed!
May 26, 2015
***SECOND UPDATE***I contacted Oregon and was glad to receive prompt and friendly service. Oregon stands behind their products. The unit was shipped back to their facility free of charge and I received the new unit in the mail this past week. So far this weekend I have cut up approximately two cord of cedar, maple and cherry, jumping the chain once, but overall without any issues. One thing I have observed from the new unit is that it is using significantly more lubrication, keeping the chain a nice glistening, almost dripping, wet. It appropriately slings lube off the chain now if I leave the saw running long enough. The first saw I received, while it was steadily consuming lube from the reservoir, appeared to be more on the conservative side in its application to the chain and would never really "sling" any lube no matter how long I ran it. Final verdict:Pros: For an electric saw, the thing is a beast, allowing you to make use of the full bar length when cutting large rounds. Quiet enough not to piss of the neighbors. The clutch mechanism makes it incredibly safe. The price for a unit this powerful is currently unmatched. Sharpening feature is probably pretty handy, although I have yet to try it. Great support from Oregon.Cons: Catastrophic failure of the saw could potentially result from low lubrication to the chain -- YOU ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY MUST KEEP IT LUBED AND COOL. The side-mounted motor gets in the way sometimes and makes the CG of the saw offset to the left of the bar making it a bit awkward to hold at times. The lube fill cap should have been positioned on the left side to avoid chip accumulation around the cap.Overall, I like this saw. Bottom line: when it works, it works well. For those of you accustomed to using gas saws of mostly metal construction, be mindful that this saw is indeed made of plastic and will melt critical components if things get hot. I'm hoping Oregon takes note of this and improves upon this in the next generation of this saw. For now, careful observation of operating temps and routine maintenance, I am hopeful, should be sufficient in providing a useful service life for this product.***UPDATE***I'm changing my rating to one star. After cutting about a cord of wood today, the chain kept coming off. I opened it up, and low and behold, the plastic casing had melted, creating a misalignment between the chain and gear; i.e. it walks the chain right off the gear now. The chain was pretty warm, but that's not all that uncommon if you cut a lot of wood. It was cool enough for me to pick it up without gloves. It appeared to be getting plenty of lube on the chain, and I had kept the reservoir topped off, so I know it never ran dry. The chain was tensioned cold per the instructions. I'll be contacting Oregon for warranty service tomorrow, but from what I read in the manual, I'll have to pay for shipping which will likely be as expensive as the cost of the saw. I will post back the outcome in a few days, but right now I'm wishing I'd ponied up and went with the Makita. You'll notice the casing around the gear hub is metal on the Makita and not plastic like the Oregon. I view this as a serious design flaw with the Oregon.

Nice extension cord! Heavy duty and heavy weight!
May 23, 2017
This is a HEAVY extension cord. Phew!Mine came packaged exactly as pictured on this page.Weight seems more like 20# than 13# as listed, but I didn't weigh it yet. I have mineon an orange reel advertised for 150ft extension cord, and as other reviewers have noted,it BARELY fits (but it DOES fit).If I had it to do over again, I think I'd get the 14ga. For 100ft, I think my power losseswould be minimal, and it would be lighter to carry around and fit on that spool nicer.
Nice cord, good price

December 7, 2014
Very nice, thick, heavy duty, long, lit to let you know it has power. Very happy with this purchase. The stupid cord reel amazon says goes good with it absolutely sucks. I suppose it would be good if you used it with a smaller gauge wire extension cord. Trying to use it with this cord, i always end up scraping my knuckles. The little clip on the inner spool DOES NOT FIT this cord, and would only fit a VERY small cord, as in what you might find on a lamp. But then why would you need a cord reel for a cord that small, or even have a long extension cord made of cord that small.
It was easy to pull around
July 26, 2014
I just used this to connect my paint sprayer and painted the fence in the backyard. It was easy to pull around. I don't consider this cord too heavy to work with and was able to wrap it in my hand and put it away. To give you an idea, this felt lighter to me than my 50 ft garden hose. My only qualm is that it tends to get twisted easily. So when putting it away, it is better to get a reel and wrap it around it so it stays in it's original shape. I like that it is yellow and very visible in the grass.
Super-duper heavy-duty...almost too much!
July 5, 2013
I bought this to replace an old, lesser-duty extension cord that I hypothesized was to blame for my electric mower failing. I bought this as both a replacement and upgrade, figuring it would provide greater power to the mower. It turns out I was right about the cord being the weak link. While expensive, this was a far cheaper option than replacing the mower. The only con I have should probably be directed at the mower, but the cord is so dang thick that the keeper mechanism on both my mower and trimmer do not accommodate the bulk of the cord. I've resorted to a velcro strip mechanism to lash the cord to the mower's handle, but I just have to let the cord dangle from the trimmer. This has resulted in the cord being pulled out of the trimmer multiple times as it snags on something. Hopefully, this won't impact the lifespan of the cord, though it it quite annoying.

This is an otherwise good chain saw
March 8, 2017
This is an otherwise good chain saw, but it has a design flaw. The plastic tube that brings oil from the tank to the chain passes next to the metal sprocket that drives the oil pump, without being anchored on the case. The predictable result is that after extended use at different angles, the tube touches the sprocket and breaks, interrupting the flow of oil. A dab of glue would have solved the problem, but one does not become aware of it until after noticing that the chain has gone dry and disassembling the saw to find out why.
Wanted to Like it
December 25, 2016
Wanted to like it... Very powerful, works out of box with a little bar oil added. The saw is very awkward and disproportional to carry or hold, let alone operate. Motor juts out on left hand side, not easily seen in picture... Overall a good working electric saw though.
Outstanding saw with gret price.
June 11, 2016
Edit 2016 Jun 27: In the end, I've decided against this saw. The SmartSharp chain sharpener is a good idea that needs a LOT of improvement. I think I'll replace the existing chain with a regular chain for longer chain endurance. The saw itself is a VERY well designed machine.Edit 2016 Jun 21: I used this chainsaw while removing a tree stump from my backyard. I hesitated to do this because dirt, stones, and rocks are the BANE of chainsaw chains. None the less, I used it. I cleared away dirt from around a root as much as possible. Sometimes, the lower half of the root remained covered in dirt because I just couldn't find a way to dig it out. So I would direct the very front tip of the saw at the root to cut from the center of the root's thickness outward. This minimized the chain's exposure to dirt and rocks, and worked very well. Still, the chain dulled quickly. All I had to do was hold the saw in the air, run it with the chain spinning for 5 or 6 second while pressing down on the red "sharpen" button, and the chainsaw was ready to cut more roots. I sharpened the chain 7 or 8 times. With any other chainsaw, sharpening the chain would have added several hours just to sharpen the chain that many times. This chainsaw is well worth the money.2016 Jun 12: Initial reviewI bought this chainsaw for three reasons: 1. Oregon chains are extremely well made. I expected the same quality in their saw. Verdict - great. 2. Oregon has created a new way to sharpen chains. Verdict - outstanding. 3. The low price for all this technology. Verdict - very good. This is a very nice corded electric chainsaw. Electric beats gas in two ways: virtually no maintenance, and electric motors can run in any orientation, upside down, on its side, pointed straight up twisted at an angle. Electric saw chains tend to be thinner and require less power than their gas counterparts. This saw has a very thin chain, yet it chews through tree wood at high speed, spitting out tree chips at high volume. The thin chain is very, very sharp. It is also gnarly, with the metal cutting teeth curled into position, Thus, it is easy to get cut. I'm sporting a small band-aid on my index finger. I should have taken their advice and worn gloves when I handled the chain. The saw itself is well designed. No tools are needed to maintain the saw. There is a large knob on the side cover toward the front. This knob is actually two knobs nestled inside one another. The inner knob unscrews the cover from the saw. The outer knob adjusts the chain tension. To adjust the chain tension, loosen the inner knob by 1/2 to 1 full turn, turn the outer knob to adjust chain tension, retighten the inner knob. To remove the side cover, unscrew the inner knob completely. The side cover will then come off, revealing the bar, the chain, a metal chain tensing disk that is engaged by the outer knob when side cover is attached,, the drive gear, and a sharpening stone to the left of the gear. You can now remove the bar and chain by twisting the metal disk to loosen the chain, them sliding the chain and bar off. This reveals the bar oil port that feeds oil to the chain. The manual says to add oil to the oil reservoir, remove the chain and bar, run the motor with gear spinning until oil oozes from this port, just to make sure the oiler is working. I had to hold the saw at various angles to coax the oil to start coming out of the port. Now for the best part, the built in chain sharpener. This is Oregon's new invention called PowerSharp. There is a red lever sticking up out of the side cover. When this lever is pressed while the chain is spinning around the bar, the lever will press a curved sharpening stone into the chain, sharpening the chain in under 5 seconds. That fast. No chain removal, no disassembly. Just run the saw, press the lever, wait 5 seconds, release the lever. All together, this is a very nice chainsaw at a superb price. With its 18" bar, it can take down fairly large trees fast. It may not play well with professionals who need larger, more powerful saws, but for home use, it's outstanding. When I combine this with my Worx Jaw Saw for reducing the fallen tree, I'm very satisfied.

April 7, 2016
Unit is plenty powerful. The chain tends to skip off until you get the hang of cleaning it. After a number of cuts, the saw doesn't cut straight, it now always wants to curve and I have to fight it. I think this is due to the built-in sharpener didn't sharpen the chain evenly (it is different from a traditional chain). I suspect when I put my older chain on it will cut straight again
good cutting, but just Ok for a saw.
September 24, 2015
the chain falls off a lot, but when its cutting, it cuts well. It would be a great unit if i could figure out how to keep the chain on.it seems well made, the chain was very sharp, it cuts without issue, (you must know how to cut with a chain saw or you will think it isn't very good).if i could remove the chain falling off issue, it would be 4 to 5 stars, when you put the chain back on its kind of a PITA, its not really hard, but its not really that easy either, i cut my fingers alot when doing it. its hard to put it back together too, the plastic cover has trouble going back on. I probably would go with something else next time. but for around 120 bucks, its fine.
Had problem with the chain jumping off but I think it is fine now.
June 6, 2015
I've become very good at putting the chain back on cause it jumps off all the time. No joke I have not been able to keep it on more than few minutes at a time. The oiling system is working and I followed the directions about running the saw without the chain on to make sure the oiling system is working and also about tensioning the chain on page 14 of the instruction manual. I am cutting small branches of a bush nothing major. I've had other brands of electric saws before and never had one throw a chain like this thing will.UPDATE: I bumped it up to 3 stars and after many throwing of the chain I think I got it to work and stay on. I think I did not have the bar tight enough and the bar was able to move somewhat side to side (very little as far as I could tell) and this would cause the chain to jump. I over tightened it almost so much I think I will need more than my hands to loosen it. I did NOT over tighten the chain tension that is still set the way the instructions says. I was able to cut two bushes down without the chain jumping off. This has a nice powerful motor and is fine for around the home use type of cutting. Hope that helps if anyone else ran into the chain coming off.

Not great for cold temps
January 11, 2017
This cord is so heavy - and while I know it has to be, it makes it really cumbersome to carry around. I bought it for my electric snowblower and in cold temps this cord turns into a stiff, unmoving mass. I'm sure in the warmer months it will be great but I wont need it then.
Not flexible below 30 degrees.
December 18, 2016
Cord is not suitable for low temperatures. Some reviews indicated it will work below 30 degrees. Electrically it works fine. Flexibility is the main issue. Well built cord though.
Too stiff
December 14, 2016
Great length, gets tangled easily, too stiff for my use. I had a 75 footer that was very flexible even in very cold weather, this isn't a great replacement...
I would recommend a heavier duty extension for commercial-industrial use
July 1, 2016
I use these only for occasional use when portable generators are needed to provide back-up power. I would recommend a heavier duty extension for commercial-industrial use, however.
Heavy Duty, heavy weight
May 11, 2016
it was a good buy but I will say, if your thinking about buying one of these, it's very heavy, weight wise. If weight is a concern for you, go with a lighter gauge.

July 31, 2015
The wire is heavy duty, but the connecting ends both male and female are cheap quality. The price on Amazon is much better then elsewhere and that offsets some of the quality issues.

Total POS with a GREAT warranty.
February 26, 2017
Cut about a 1/4 of a cord of wood with this thing and the motor started smoking. Sent it in for warranty and got a brand new replacement. I then sold it on ebay. got most of my money back, bought a gas powered chainsaw instead and never looked back. 5 stars to Oregon's warranty, one star to this product. If you are serious about cutting wood, get a REAL chainsaw. This thing looks like it would be nice since you can sharpen it without taking the chain off, but I never got that far since the chain outlasted the motor. Having to drag a cord around a wood pile is a pain in the butt - more than you think it is because it catches on everything. I listened to Spirko's podcast and bought this thing.... what a mistake. If you're a homeowner who cuts a little wood once a year this would be great. If you heat your house with wood all winter and need 5-6 cords cut every season look elsewhere.
I am disappointed of this product

I am disappointed of this product. It is very powerfull and it has some premitive selfsharping system, but it lasted just few hours. The cirgrip which holds the wheel for the chain got broken and the chainsaw became useles.
PRO The sharpening and the cutting is awesome. CONS
September 30, 2016
PROThe sharpening and the cutting is awesome.CONS:The chain falls off all the time. I have used several chainsaws in the past, cordless, corded, has driven and NEVER had this much problem. The chain tightening simple is poor design and you cannot go more than minutes when cutting anything more than branches until the chain falls off.DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!I've contacted AmaOn and I am returning mine. Too bad. Apart from this issue its a great tool
Poor design and low quality
July 31, 2016
So I bought this in 2015 and have had it just over a year. I have never owned an electric chainsaw before and I now prefer that to gasoline. That part is a lot better. There isn't the constant vibration and noise of a gas chainsaw and no trouble getting it going. My saw was used to cut up two large trees and then the bar got pinched and I lost the chain. I had to order a new chain, which was a ridiculous $40+. The trouble is that the chain wont stay tightened. I can't tell if that's because of the chain oiling mechanism or the fact that it just isn't designed to stay tight, but if I have to work this hard for a product to work, it isn't worth it. I'll be buying the Makita electric chainsaw next and chalking up my $180 to experience. Oregon always has had a good reputation, but with a product like this, I wonder, why?
Easy to use but putting the chain on every time is annoying!!!!!!

Beware Big Deals, Inc. - Apparently not an authentic, branded "US Wire" product.
March 17, 2016
Beware of Big Deals, Inc. I don't believe they are shipping an authentic branded "US Wire & Cable" product. The actual cable was imprinted with "Ningbo Linsheng Electrical Co.".The cable did not come with the expected product packaging stating "US Wire & Cable", only the cable with shrink-wrap.The female connector was very loose, and could not be tightened, which is a sign of an inferior product.I had to buy a short extension adapter, to make the cable usable, to prevent it from continually falling out of any tool connector.(Cost of return shipping made it cost ineffective to request a refund.)I checked online that Ningbo Linsheng is a real Chinese manufacturer, and the cable did include UL labels, so I hope the cord is safe. But it appears falsely advertised and sold under the "US Wire & Cable" branded listing.Big Deals, Inc. and the listing said that some US Wire products are now made in China, but I suspect that disclaimer only gives them cover to sell any Chinese knockoff. Lack of any "US Wire" brand labeling leaves doubt.

So stiff when temperature is at only 32 degrees Fahrenheit that it is nearly impossible to handle.Plug ends are not what I would describe as heavy duty. There are easily bent.Just remember it's stiff stiff stiff in cold temperature if you consider 32F cold.

August 20, 2017
I bought this for a small project.... I liked it because it says it has more Amps than others. I got it out of the box and just like every other review on here says, the chain pops off. You put it back on, adjust it, spin it, then really cut for 5 seconds, boom. Chain comes off again. Cut your fingers putting it back on, cut for 10 seconds, boom. Off again. I wish it would work. I wish it lived up to the hype. I really wanted to try the auto chain sharpening system but I can't even use the saw enough to dull the chain because it pops off. I did this about 8-10 times and just went and sharpened my gas Stihl gas chainsaws blade and used it to do the job instead. I am not a Banker or a lawyer, I am a do it yourselfer. I remodel houses, build projects, I get tools. This saw now sits clean as a whistle in my garage as a lawn ornament. Unfortunately this saw is a waste of my money.
Nicely designed saw save for a fatal flaw
March 1, 2017
Nicely designed saw save for a fatal flaw; chain would not stay on for more than two minutes, no matter how the tension was set.
too much maintenance
November 19, 2016
requires removing chain from bar before each intermittent use to prime oil, then reinstalling and retensioning chain. Pointless for an electric, where intermittent use is the whole point. way too maintenance-intensive.
Chain issues
August 17, 2016
The chain kept coming off. Had to return it for credit.
Update: Saw should be recalled and removed from the market. Develops exceedingly dangerous operating condition.
November 24, 2015
UPDATE 4/26/17: Saw becomes VERY dangerous to use, should be recalled. Very strong do NOT buy.The blade root is held to the saw with 3 half-inch screws into the plastic body that provides up/down stability. Within relatively little use the 3 half-inch screws wallow out their sockets and will not stay tightened for more than 30 seconds of additional use. I even tried locktite and they still do not stay tightened. This lets the blade wobble up/down while cutting - which makes the blade do some very strange things while cutting and difficult to control safely.See my attached video showing the problem. In addition it has always easily spit the blade - and yes the cover is fully secure and the tab is in it's slot. The problem is that the blade root allows way too much flex, which makes the chain track along the sprocket and pop off. There's no stop or anything to hold the blade to the sprocket.I'm only into four 14" x 40'-50' trees worth of bucking (fir and alder) and the saw has become too wobbly to use safely. Especially with a deep cut the blade begins to twist and wander and I end up with weird bowl-shaped cuts and the non-linear cut binds the blade up leading to kickbacks.I VERY VERY strongly recommend you do NOT buy this saw. After a little bit of use it becomes actively dangerous.....................................................................................................................................................................................................Its a great saw with a fatal flaw. I absolutely love the saw brake, self-sharpening, and the sheer torque of it.However it spits the chain easily and often, when clearing out a couple trees that'd fallen in a recent windstorm it would spit the chain about once every half hour and I would have to stop, unplug it, walk back to a flat spot and remount the chain - which is a bit of a PITA all by itself.I tried MANY variations of blade tightness but nothing made a difference, the least little bit of sideways pressure and off it'd go, again. I've had a few other electric chain saws but have NEVER had this much trouble with a chain. In fact I don't think I've EVER had a chain come loose.I will be returning this saw and getting the Worx one, which is a crying shame because the other features of the saw are awesome.
Wanted to like it--I have used other Oregon equipment in the past
November 19, 2015
Based on the prior reviews, I purchased this item. While electric chainsaws cannot be expected to perform as well as gas chainsaws, I did not expect that chain to constantly jump off the bar whenever it encountered hardwood.Wanted to like it--I have used other Oregon equipment in the past, but this just did not work well. The chain jumps off at the slightest provocation. I am returning it, and am now having to go out a buy a gas unit, Stihl or Husqvarna. I have used both of them and they are great machines--and it takes a significant operator error to cause the chain to jump off the bar.

It catches file on my second use!
March 14, 2017
It catches file on my second use!I plugged in a snow thrower that uses 15A, which is the labelled as max allowed current on this cord. It was only fine in my first use, which lasted about 2 hours. However, when I used it a second time to clean up after a huge storm, only after going on for 30 mins, I noticed a white flash from the connector, then it started to burn! Feeling surreal myself (WHY WOULD AN EXTENSION CORD BE MADE OF COMBASTIBLE MATERIAL ANYWAY?!), I unplugged it, and plugged in again after cooling down. But it immediately burn again and made the whole connector roasted black. You can imagine how frustrated and exhausted I feel with the snow thrower but no extension cord and having to shovel the whole front paved walkway myself!
Dead on Arrival!

Cord did not work. How hard is it to check an extension cord before the factory ships it out?
DO NOT BUY THIS CORD
February 18, 2015
This is one of the worst cords out there, I'm a rough framer and use cord daily, and this cord is extremely stiff damn near impossible to roll up and casing feels like a cheap breakable plastic.
