Amazing price for such a powerful saw.
July 25, 2017
This chainsaw works like a champ. Within 2 days I cut down 3 hurricane palms, trimmed several palms , and trimmed my 30 foot avocado tree in half. I used premium chain oil often and cleaned out debris in it often to avoid the chain from getting stuck or damaged. As long as you treat this chainsaw right and keep it clean while you are working with it , it will give you years of good use at a very affordable price. The fact that its corded did not bother me at all , even for the tall avocado tree. The pole saw attachment is great quality and very sturdy.
Great tool

Great product. Does leak oil but it's best to store it with the blade pointing down and the saw in a 5-gal bucket. They seem to last forever. I have one that's at least 15 years old. The saw itself has outlasted the plastic parts on the pole/handle (but easy to fix). My take is these are much safer than a handheld electric or a handheld gas chainsaw (if you keep it on the pole) because of the increased distance between you and the saw.
Awesome Saw! Made quick work of the massive tree in my front yard!
September 29, 2014
This is one powerful saw! It took little effort to assemble, and even less effort to use. The chain was already assembled on the unit and tightened to the appropriate tension. Just a quick snap of two halves of the pole, putting the saw on the pole and I was cutting in less than five minutes. The weight of the saw when using on the pole does wear on the arms after a while, but I switched from trimming the tree to cutting the branches that I fell into smaller pieces for disposal, then back to trimming the tree top. This was made easy by the quick removal of the saw from the pole. No tools required! The 8 amp motor was more than enough to cut branches up to 6 inch in diameter. I'm sure I could have cut thicker branches if needed,One important note: Amazon recommends purchasing the Oregon Chan Saw Chain and Bar Oil. I purchased a quart, thinking it was compatible with the saw I purchased. However, the Remington instructions specifically states "DO NOT USE CHAN SAW BAR AND CHAIN OIL". Apparently, the oil is too thick for the saw. The recommended oil is SAE 30. A Google search also provided this tip: "Do not use a multi-viscocity oil as it will be too thick in warmer conditions". Don't make the mistake I made and purchase the recommended oil from Amazon. I'm sure there will not be a problem returning it, but why go through the bother??
Saved me a ton of money

I have a 20+ foot palm tree in my front yard that looked like a demented cemetery tree where no one wanted to enter the place to take care of this. Keep in mind, I'm a cheap-o and have any many landscapers try to trim it for me. I'm even too cheap for $20. I have a 10 foot ladder and as you can imagine it is still out of my reach. Years ago I remember seeing a trim tree guy with some kind of boot spikes and he used a belt so that he could shimmy his way up, trim the tree and drop back down. I have researched some kind of spikes so I could do the same. Not to mention I perfect doing things on my own rather than paying someone my hard earned Benjamins. Needless to say I did not have much luck. So here I am...one day and I'm not even sure how it happens but saw an ad for one of these things. Only it cost more and did not have as long of reach. So I thought "brilliant!!!" and started searching. I am familiar with Remington products, however I purchased this as a best bang for my buck sort of thing.Ok so back to my point, this thing is awesome! I need to stress the AWESOME part. It really is. Worked like a charm. I imagine I will have years of use out of this. Hopefully I once it is so tall, I dish out some cash to have the palm tree trimmed. Then again I will probably McGuyver something.
Fantastic Pole Saw
September 9, 2013
I started to ponder whether or not I wanted a gas or electric pole saw for my yard. I decided on this pole saw and very glad that I did. The pole saw comes in the box in two main parts (pole in two parts, the chain saw). Pole assembly is very easy as the two parts to the pole simply snap together and the chain saw (which can be used as a stand-alone smaller electric chain saw) fits on with a plastic piece and a washer and screw nut. The weight of the chain saw does not wobble and fits solid on the quality fiberglass pole. The pole expands out to approx. 15 feet and feels slightly top heavy with the saw fully extended. Saw cuts very well and handles trees with limbs as fibrous as those of a river birch tree.Saw is not too loud and cuts very very well. I've cut mature fir, river birch and crate myrtle limbs with the pole saw and it has not yet disappointed. This is a great product and the only regret that I have is that I didn't buy one before now. One little last note is that you'll need to purchase some chain oil for the chain saw portion because it comes dry out of the box and you'll want it lubricated before use. Please look at the photos for the product that I have uploaded to Amazon to get a better look at what it can cut and how the unit looks.
Great saw!
June 5, 2012
After quite a bit of thinking about what kind of pole saw I wanted, I decided to go with the corded one for a couple of reasons. I didn't want a gas saw because of the fumes and weight. I have enough gas engines around here, I don't need another one! I decided against a cordless saw for a couple of reasons. I didn't want the battery to die while I was working, I wasn't sure about the power of a cordless saw vs. a corded one and I realized that I would most likely only use the pole saw once a year, twice at best. Because batteries don't do well if they aren't being used I was afraid that after a year or two sitting on a charger not being used, the batteries would be ruined requiring me to purchase a new pack to use the saw. No thanks.I am very happy that I bought this saw. I know that Remington makes a good electric chainsaw as I have had them in the past. They have plenty of power and last a long time. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the pole with this unit. The pole is a combination of fiberglass and aluminum. The center section is heavy duty fiberglass and is a quality build. It is stiff and feels heavy duty. Both ends are made of hexagonal shaped aluminum poles that extend/retract with locking sections on the fiberglass section ends. The saw itself can be removed from the pole easily so it can be used as a small chainsaw on the ground pole free. The pole trigger works well and is comfortable. My only concern is the plastic handle seems to be a bit cheap and I am afraid that it could break if twisted hard. If handled as intended however it should be fine. The oiler works well but is not automatic. It uses standard motor oil and has a push bulb on the cap to squirt oil on the chain. I had some bar oil for my regular chain saw that I used and it worked fine even though it is thicker than motor oil.I used the saw last weekend trimming a bunch of trees on my property. It held up well, cut easily and was easy to use. When I say it was easy to use that doesn't mean you won't get a workout however! The unit is hefty and will give your upper body a workout if used for long periods of time. The more vertical you hold the saw the easier it is to handle. Of course, it is harder to use when fully extended too because most of the weight is at the end. Still, you don't have to be Mr/Ms Universe to use this saw.All in all I recommend this pole saw. It is a quality saw on a quality pole with the option of using the saw separate from the pole. The price I paid ($99) was below the cordless and gas units and right in line with other corded models. Read and follow the instructions, wear your safety gear especially safety glasses and trim those trees!

Buying these chains online I get them for half the price of the Big Box stores. After the recent storms here in the northeast I have had a lot of trees to cut. I'm glad I bought 2 and not just 1.

Good little saw
September 25, 2017
Bought this to clear some broken branches left by Hurricane Irma. Assembly was easy, Works great-plenty of power. Only two small issues-one, the saw collects debris into the saw case so you need to clean it out after. Not a big deal, its removing three screws and moving the cover to get access to the area. However, the cover is held in place by a fourth pivot fastener and the pressure needed to move the cover could cause it to crack down the line. Second, the product does not come with bar and chain oil. I didn't expect the saw to come pre-filled, but I did expect a small container of oil to be included in the box. It wasn't, so I needed to make a trip to the local big box in order to pick one up. All things considered, especially at this price, I am happy with the saw and have told numerous friends about it already.
Exactly What I Needed
May 7, 2017
This is a great little unit. As long as you aren't planning on cutting down forest, or even a single giant tree, you should be happy with this..I've got a gas powered chainsaw and when you live on acreage it is pretty much a necessity. However I needed something that would allow me to trim the tree limbs hanging over the fence along my front property line. This little saw fit the bill perfectly and made quick work of those limbs..The head unit is only a few pounds, but that really gets amplified being out on the end of a pole. Fully extended it is a bit of a handful to move around and cut limbs. I can't really speak to longevity as I've only just used it for the first time yesterday.
I liked it
April 18, 2017
I have only used for about 30 minutes of actual run time, trimming limbs and cutting them, "bucking" into shorter lengths. The limb size ranged from 1.5 to 4 inches. One screw w/wingnut hold the pole to the saw so it was easy to switch from pole saw mode to regular chain saw mode. The instruction manual came in English, French and Spanish. The oil fill is on a slight slant so you may have to tip the saw up for easier filling. I didn't spill any oil but there was a small pool of oil on the table after filling that ran out from somewhere. I did not notice any excess being spewed like some reviewers have mentioned. The oil feed is automatic not manual this is not indicated in the manual or on the packaging.I stored it level after use and a day later I noticed a few drops on the table. Perhaps draining the oil would prevent that.I did not care for the oil sight glass or its location. Its small and hard to see as its located on the side panel between the handle and handle guard. The handle has a flat shoe for setting the saw on a table but the weight of the motor tips it over, so I just put a 1.5" wedge under the motor to keep it propped up.I had to readjust the chain tension after the 2nd limb was cut but that was to be expected. Its easiest to use a 7/16" socket wrench on the bar retaining nuts, a box end wrench would be my next choice followed by a end wrench. Using an adjustable wrench is just too cumbersome and bulky.Be aware when the saw is on the pole you are now dealing with a class 3 Lever so the actual 9-10# saw has a felt weight of 30+# on thehorizontal. AS you move the saw to a more vertical position then the felt weight drops toward the actual weight of the pole and saw. When finished be sure to clean out the chips that have accumulated behind the bar shield. I knocked out about a half cup full and I should take the shield off and blow out the rest. For what little bit I have used it, I like it and it does the job it was designed for.
Love it
March 17, 2017
When we first started using this it was AWESOME!!! It did a ton of work. My husband was all over the yard with it. Cutting limbs that were probably too big and even a couple of small trees. We have a very large yard and about 1/2 acre of woods in the front of the house. It has started to get dull and is a little hard to sharpen. It does leak oil if you don't store it correctly. With those few drawbacks.... this was a great purchase
Good saw, but heavy
July 31, 2016
I've been trimming the palm trees in my yard with one of those dual cut manual pole trimmers - saw blade on one side, nipper on the other. Worked pretty good, until the trees got so tall it became difficult and a little scary using it from a 10' stepladder. I saw this unit, and thought it may make it a lot easier to trim the trees.Yes and no. I can trim about 10 fronds off in about 10 minutes, where the manual trimmer would take an hour or more. This saw chews through those fronds pretty quickly to be sure, but the weight of the unit - especially when fully extended - is pretty substantial. As I mentioned, the trees are high enough I have to work from a 10' stepladder, so setting the ladder properly to avoid is a critical factor. From a work base that high, you better make sure you've read the instructions and know what to expect when working with this saw. When you've cut through there's a sudden shift in weight and balance that could wind up badly for you if you haven't positioned yourself well. A helper on the ground to help keep things steady is essential. The pole is heavy duty except for the locking extension clamps at both ends. They look and feel pretty fragile, and I expect they won't last a very long time. The saw works great - no complaints there. Plenty of power and speed for the light work around my homeThere was no oil packed with this unit, and the blade guard is a piece of folded-over cardboard taped to hold it as a sleeve. Really? Cardboard?? Other than that, I'm satisfied with this purchase.
Prepare for a workout
June 18, 2016
Out of the box the blade was plenty sharp and was adjusted about right. The teeth rip through green oak here in FL with no problem. I just trimmed some smaller limbs from my tree then went to town on the in-laws mess. Limbs up to about arm size were no problem with the pole at full extension. The saw will cut larger limbs easily but trying to do it with them overhead poses a problem. Unless you can successfully make an undercut the blade gets pinched when you finally cut most of the way through.Cutting horizontal limbs mostly overhead are pretty easy. When the saw breaks through the weight of the saw tends to drop. Trying to arrest the fall puts a lot of stress on your arms and shoulders. Cutting limbs up high that have sagged and are nearly vertical is a real pain. Getting the blade to bite in and start cutting verses just sliding along the bark takes a bit of work.I bent the aluminum section of the pole nearest the saw when I cut through a large limb. I was at somewhat of an awkward angle and the weight of the saw/pole got away from me as the limb fell. The pole section landed on the limb hard enough to bend the outer section. I was luckily able to bend it back mostly straight, at least enough that it will slide in/out with a little extra force.Connecting the saw to the pole is a bit convoluted. The "bracket" on the pole fits inside of the hand hole in the saw handle. You have to squeeze the throttle and the release button then try to squeeze this bracket into the handle at the same time. A 3rd hand would be helpful. There's also a little lock washer that fits under the wingnut that I expect to lose any day. I don't know why they didn't make this attached to the wingnut. The oiler is complete junk. The squeeze bulb was a bit deformed right out of the package so it doesn't seal quite right on the oil tank. I may just get a small oil can and give the bar a few squirts every few cuts. The setup is kind of pointless anyway since you can't run the saw and operate the squeeze bulb with it attached to the pole (unless your arms are 4' long).

Not the easiest to use pole saw, but nice to have detachable saw for light cutting.
June 14, 2017
A little too heavy when extended out. The saw plastic casing is cheap, with open seams. Price is cheap enough, but better start pumping some iron before using it. Kind of unsafe if you neglect to read the instructions. I tested the chainsaw and it worked okay after loosening the chain tensioner, then after connecting the pole, it didn't work at all. Had to call the tech support at MTD thinking it was a defective pole section, but they problem solved it for me. I had the pole trigger locked and when I pushed the release button on the saw, the pole controls worked. If I had placed the saw on something unsafe, it would not have been good. Read instruction when all else fails.
Leaking oil but cut as advertised
May 9, 2017
I recently bought this pole saw for my two acre home. I have several trees and wanted something I could use to help prune down some of the smaller branches. It was easy to put together and after that you just add oil. The saw itself cut through the smaller branches with a little push back. I'm a woman of average weight and strength and the saw was a little heavy on the pole but was able to manage it for about 30 mins. I give the saw a four for performance in its price range. The reason I gave the saw a three over all is because I stored the saw and a couple days later noticed there was oil leaking out from it. Not just a little bit , all of the oil I put in there. It was stored up right so don't think that was the issue. I am hoping to return the saw and try something different.
Just ok
March 25, 2017
It does the job when cutting but leafs keep getting trapped and the chain actually came off. Also it's way too heavy when fully extended, even for my decent sized biceps.
Problem with quality/design right out of the box
March 16, 2017
Beware of breaking the locking levers for the pole extension mechanism. This is a flimsy part and other comments indicate this is not an uncommon problem. This looks like a design weak point that could be easily avoided. That's the bad news. The good news is that MTD who sells this product will send me a replacement lever which I will install.. So far, because of this issue, I haven't had the opportunity to use the saw so can't comment on its operation.
Amazon has wonderful customer service and Remington DOES NOT
May 31, 2016
At this point I don't know if this unit will do all it is supposed to do, but I know this, Amazon has wonderful customer service and Remington DOES NOT. First Remington tech people told us several times we could use regular motor oil for the saw, which is totally wrong. Then I had the privilege of speaking to a smart mouthed supervisor who shall remain nameless. The unit wouldn't start when the pole was attached and worked when it wasn't, so one could deduce that the pole was the problem. Amazon is sending me a new unit and it arrive tomorrow, and ups will pick my defective unit at the same time. I will give a new review when we get the new one tomorrow. Just beware of Remington's customer service.
Works Great...Until it doesn't work.
June 19, 2015
I purchased this product because I live in a very wooded area and tree/branch removal would be astronomical! I am a woman (albeit a very do-it-yourself friendly one!) and this product was easy to use and pretty self-explanatory. I did experience an issue with oil leakage from the reservoir despite draining it (it leaked during use) but it worked great, cutting through fairly large branches (and even a fallen tree) with relative ease (the tree did take patience as it isn't exactly crafted for such a large diameter tree). However, by the end of my first use of the product, despite following the recommendations the plug-in portion had dislodged from the chainsaw itself. This was my first time attempting to contact customer service about it as it is only 2 months old and only had one use. It would have been helpful to know (and perhaps someone else made a review about it) that there is no phone contact for customer support and any issues with the product must be dealt with entirely online, which I find inconvenient and inefficient for such a large company. I will update my review as to my experience in dealing with potential replacement. Buy with caution in light of this information.

Not A Water Based Lubricant
May 31, 2017
My pole saw owners manual states that the oil weight spec is 10 or 30. This oil does not specify weight on the bottle, or in the product description. The bottle's label only indicates bar and chain oil. Another user asked about this oil's viscosity. Manufacturer answered that item is a 30 weight oil.Item was shipped in a plastic bag, inside of an envelope. Item received has a different label than item featured in the photo. It really is tempting to think that if this is simply SAE 30, I can pour it right into my engine block.Item is not labeled for any other use. While it may be tempting to simply use this oil for other lubricant needs; it is not recommended. Use this only for it's labeled purpose. Keep your chainsaw lubed.
It Works, But Needs a Comparision Between Usage and Cost.
April 11, 2017
It works, but the chainsaw seems to go through the oil much faster than the oil that came with the chainsaw. I used almost half the 1 liter bottle to cut slightly more than the 4 oz bottle that came with the saw. In its defense, I was cutting apart a large hickory tree, (read very hard wood). I think the oil in this was not as viscous as the default one. When I get another bottle, I may post the results of a cost comparison of how much I had to use to how much it cost; I have not done that at this point. That may be the real factor in determining value, as it taking twice as much may be a better value if it costs less than half a longer lasting brand.

Defective saw?
October 25, 2017
I've used tools and saws of all types my entire life. Coping, hand, chain, sawzall, hack, circular, you name it, I've used it. Though on some the blade can be manually offset, one thing all of these saws have in common is that the hand grip is in the same plane as the saw blade. When I attached the two pole sections of this Remington (aka: MTD) saw together I saw, what I felt to be, either a design flaw or a defective saw. Assembled, with the blade perpendicular to the ground, the pole handle (grip) is offset 10 to 15 degrees and not in the same plane as the blade. In this configuration, my concern was a potential lack of full control of the saw or, possibly, the potential for a hand or wrist injury. I am not an expert on chainsaws or their design, and my concerns are strictly based on my experience with saws of all types. The included instruction, safety and maintenance manual states to call Remington, and not the retailer, if you have any questions or concerns. I called and got a technician that thought, based on my description, that the saw may be defective and to send him photos so he could make a determination. If it was found to be defective they, and not Amazon, would send me a new saw. I sent 7 photographs and made four phone calls. A determination has never been made and two promised call backs never happened. The pole, once assembled, cannot be taken apart. This makes it impossible to return the saw to Amazon so I'm stuck with a saw that will see very limited use. This saw is also the first chain saw that I've ever used that didn't have an automatic oilier. The usage manual tells you how to fill the oil reservoir but makes no mention (that I saw) of how often to manually lube the chain. The technician suggested to prime the chain after every cut. Of note, the 2018 model of this saw is supposed to have an automatic oilier.Lastly, under safety warnings, the manual states to not use the saw above shoulder height. Ummm, it's a pole saw that's designed for that very thing! As Remington hasn't called back, I don't know if my saw is defective or not. Your saw may not have this issue. Two stars for the saw. I did use it with caution and it did the job. One star for Remington customer service.Five stars, as always, for Amazon. Great price and service even if I can't return the saw.
Ruined Father's Day gift
September 12, 2017
Unfortunately had to take in for repair before ever using it as it was not working straight out of box. After a few weeks got it back and used for about 20 minutes before it stopped working. Took back to local repair dealer and he was told that manufacturer would not cover it as 1st repair was too costly. So needless to say not happy that my Father's Day present was a total washout and now I have to get something else to compensate for failed tool.
Will it work today? Will it not work today?? Guess???
May 15, 2016
I have no idea why this works on some days and not on other days using the POLE EXTENDER. I have taken this to be fixed once and I need to do so again. In the hand held operation this is a great little chain saw. If the pole worked like it should I would give 5 starts but not now. What is funny, is that the day I was called by the Suggested Repair Center telling me my Remington Chain Saw was working fine QVC had a special with a easier to use chain saw that I wish I had bought. I think this is going back.
Poor warranty support from the manufacturer
May 9, 2016
The metal tip of the guide bar split into two plates after just a few cuts. The warranty is two years on paper, but next to impossible to get - you have to call Remington to locate a service dealer, then the nearest dealer (~20 miles) they referred me to said they did not service Remington...And the warranty says a guide bar is a wear items, so any problems with it are not covered anyway, even with the new saw, so I need to buy a new bar now.
Great saw, but leaks oil.
April 6, 2016
I actually love the size and work-ability of the saw for the small jobs around my yard. I didn't want a huge powerful chainsaw, so this is just the right fit for me. It easily trims my trees and makes work a breeze. The thing I'm disappointed with is the fact that the chainsaw leaks oil everywhere when I store it! What a mess it makes with the chain oil all over my shed.
Useless Warranty
August 24, 2015
The saw worked fine to a point. Then about half the teeth on the drive sprocket (which is made of nylon) came off rendering the saw useless. The saw is still under warranty, but I was told by customer service that the only way I could get a replacement part was to go to a service center. Remington gave me three centers in my area. The first said they have been trying to get off Remington's list for two years. The second said they have never ordered parts from Remington. The third is a 2.5 hour drive away - so I didn't even call. Best I can tell Remington wants you to buy a new part from an affiliated company linked from their parts website. Since the part is $10 plus shipping I will probably do this rather than hassle with them for the free part. Just warning folks - sometimes you get what you pay for. But they shouldn't be so deceitful as to claim a warranty that they have no intention of backing up. BTW Remington appears to be affiliated with Troy Built and Cub Cadet.

put it on my saw and doesn't seem to cut any better than the old one it replaced?
Two Stars

I apparently purchased the wrong replacement chain as it will not slide in the limb saw.
Return please
May 26, 2015
Item was as described but it was the wrong size. Needed 8" and return policy ended 2 days ago. Product is not opened and needs to be returned. We already ordered the correct size and ordered a second one also. Please return item and keep customer happy.

Use much cheaper Walmart oil. it works fine
September 21, 2017
This is a huge waste of money. There is nothing special about bar oil. Get 5w-20 thin oil for maximum oiling from Walmartfor about $2.45 a quart. You want a lot of oil leaking on to the bar to lube it and the tree to help keep your chain sharp and welllubricated in the bar and sprocket. The reviewer is a former professional tree surgeon specializing in high risk trees and the author of the Kindle book entitled:Sex Education for Adults Secrets To Amazing Sex and Happily Ever After Too

Buyer beware - open and use immediately - missing parts
November 13, 2017
I had not written any negative reviews here (on anything). I purchased this as a gift for my father (even paid shipping). When he finally got around to using it, it was missing parts. There was a 1-year limited warranty on parts and labor. "Warranty service is available, WITH PROOF OF PURCHASE THROUGH YOUR LOCAL AUTHORIZED SERVICE DEALER." If something is unused due to missing parts. Now the warranty is expired and my father has an unusable piece of equipment. Sad. Now what?
Junk! Doesn't run coming out of the box.
October 22, 2017
Don't buy this! Purchased a little over a month ago. Put it together and when I tried to use it, NOTHING!! It doesn't run at all! Had to do the job with a pole saw. So buy this if you want to spend 85 bucks and get a workout. Or just go to the gym. Plus in this case the return window for Amazon is closed.
The chain saw worked fine but the extension was useless
October 17, 2017
I also had the same problem as mentioned below, the pole unit was DOA. The chain saw worked fine but the extension was useless. After the unit is put together the pole cannot be taken apart so I had to explain to the Amazon customer service rep. that it could not be put back in the box unless they wanted me to break it in half, which would not have mattered because it would not work anyway. Amazon was gracious enough to refund my money without shipping the old one back. These units have wiring issues, I guess your opinion of how it works would depend on getting one that actually works.
Cheap construction and poor design, failed after only 4-5 cuts
October 14, 2017
Short version: This pole saw is poorly made and stopped working after only a handful of cuts were made. The trigger jammed and I couldn't start it again, I returned it and got the similar model by Worx and was much happier. Don't buy this.Long version:I got this to trim several branches high and low around my yard. I was excited that the saw was detachable so that I can cut the longer/thicker branches was they came down from the tree. Holding the saw you can tell that the plastic is fairly cheap quality and is not as thick/sturdy for what is essentially a chain saw. The plastic molding on the handle doesn't align perfectly and when you are gripping the saw firmly while cutting you can see the plastic seams split open a bit as they move. Ideally the plastic would be thicker and not flex with the saw as much. The pole extension, which comes split in half for packaging *can not be detached again after you connect the two halves*. I don't know who thought this was a good idea, but be aware that you must store the handle in the attached position so ensure your storage area has room. This led to a humorous dilemma when I went to return the saw and the pole would no longer fit in the packaging it was delivered in. I was not joking, there is no way to detach this handle which led to me using a *hacksaw* to cut the pole in half so it would fit in the box again. The pole extension attaches to the saw by a mounting plate that you screw in at the handle of the chain saw. This is the same way all the similar pole saw brands work. The mounting plate holds the throttle lock and throttle trigger depressed so that you can operate the throttle at the end of the pole saw. With this Remington model, the mounting plate attaches using a single thumb screw and a tiny little washer. Once again this design decision is horrible -- you are likely to detach / reattach the saw numerous times while working in your hard and good luck not losing that tiny washer (and or thumb screw) in your yard. The Worx model has a single plate with attached screw, so pretty hard to lose in your yard.I used this saw to make about 4-5 cuts with the chain saw. I then attempted to attach the pole saw to the chain saw to cut some overhead branches, however, the saw would not work when attached to the pole. I detached the pole and realized that it had jammed the throttle control and the saw never started again. I returned this saw and ran out to Lowes to get the similar Worx model (had to finish the job that weekend). I was much happier with the Worx model and the quality difference was apparent.I don't normally write reviews, but the quality difference between this Remington model and the similar Worx model was apparent. Get the Worx model at a similar price point.
Avoid this saw- poor design
October 7, 2017
Avoid this chain saw. Poor design and bas customer service at Remington.I spent 15 min assembling the pole to saw, then saw would not start. By the way, once pole is locked it cannot be unlocked. Called Remington cust service, spoke with 2 people 15 min later they tell me to take it to servicer 10 miles away. I told them I will return item and let them figure it out.Good luck trying to fit it back in box ( pole will not fold) had to attach an extra tube to dox. There are better alt there like Earthwise
Not only is this super difficult but dangerous when there is a chain saw
September 11, 2017
I am sending this back to Amazon for the following reasons:1) The pole has two plastic clamps that secure it. One broke on my first use and I had to use duct tape so the handle would not slide. I called the company for another another part and they said it would not be in stock for over 2 months. I believe this is a sign of a defect as others have also reported this.2) The saw is heavy and almost impossible to use when extended for several reasons: First, the trigger is at the end so you have to hold the pole at the end and this causes you to lose your leverage. Second, the saw is too heavy to hold and control when up in the air. Imagine a long pole with a heavy weight at the top and you tried to hold it up in different positions. Not only is this super difficult but dangerous when there is a chain saw at the end. I lift weights three times a week and workout so I would not exactly consider myself a 98 lb weakling but still struggle to hold it out to cut upper tree limbs. I have seen several reviews stating to hold the saw directly above you to have better leverage. I should not have to elaborate on why this is dangerous. In addition, holding the saw above you is not always possible.3) The handle blocks the view of the blade when cutting high so you are second guessing the cut.The chain saw works very well but I am not thrilled about pressing the bulb to oil the chain. I don't think this system does a good job of oiling the chain as there seems to be very little oil on the chain when compared with several large chain saws that I use which are self-lubricating.I usually don't have time to write reviews but wrote this one to save anyone the hassle I experienced. I bought this saw because when it is compared with other saws in this price range, it have more AMPS, a longer blade and handle. Now I am back in the market again.

Replacement chains on a powered saw might cut paper and a little cardboard that's it.
May 28, 2017
The replacement chains are so bad forget cutting even small branches. You are better off using a used hand saw from 1890 AD (the 19th century)from your late great grandfather who fought in the American Civil War.I've purchased 3 of these (a mistake and complete waste of money). You can put the chains on backwards and they still will not help.
Not Compatible with PLN1510 Poulan 10" Pole Saw
February 4, 2015
It does NOT work with the PLN1510 10" Poulan Pole Saw. Do not buy this chain if you have one of those Poluan pole saws. The chain is too large for the bar.
Not a good substitute.
December 12, 2014
A poor fit makes this completely unusable. It comes off the track repeatedly which seems unsafe in most situations but in particular when it is 10 feet over your head. I disassembled and reassembled the chainsaw, hoping that it would work but it did not satisfactorily.

Total ripoff. Go to Lowes and buy a gallon of the same oil for about the same price.
Too expensive

You can buy it from Lowe's for half the price. Only Lowe's carries it and was not able to find it at Home Depot.
