Awesome little chainsaw

Love it, only con is you are restricted by the length of you cords. No messing with gas choke and hard starts
Awesome chainsaw
July 30, 2017
Very good saw exceeded expectations easy to use really like the ability to tighten chain very accessible. Would recommend to all to purchase.
Easy to clean after use high quality materials.
Beast!
February 25, 2016
This thing is a beast! I have abused this little chainsaw multiple times and it still works great! I am very impressed and would highly recommend this!
couldn't believe it's electric
October 13, 2015
I purchased cheap 14" poulan electric chainsaw 4 years ago.
It was my fist chainsaw gas or electric.
It stop cutting after I cut few branches.
It took half an hour to cut 3 branches smaller than 5" dia.

I watched and leaned from youtube, asked professionals who came to take down neighbor's tree, filed chain and adjusted height, did anything to try to make it work but failed.
I thought chain was moving wrong direction and checked it many times.
It was so bad experience.
It took half day to make just few fire logs.
My wife used to laugh at me as "You should use hand saw, it's quicker !!"
I told myself that maybe because it was cheap small electric chainsaw.

Now my 4years old poulan had cracked on plastic frame because I kept giving it too much force.
I was going to buy gas or bigger (18" maybe) high powered electric.
Then I read all your reviews here.
Took down whole tree ? took only hour to make pile of logs ?
I thought " Com'n ! it should be 3 days project with 14" electric chainsaw with I experienced"
I decided to gave 2nd chance to 14" electric.

I couldn't believe what I see with this HOMELITE !
It took 5 second to cut 5" branch to fire log.
It was 5 minutes with my old Poulan.
I don't know what was wrong with my old 14" Poulan but now I prove myself it wasn't me. It was chainsaw.

downside is same as other review.
You have to prepare a lot of bar oil. I mean "A LOT".
I felt like I was using spray gun to shoot bar oil.
It consumed whole 1 qt by 2hrs of light use.
There is no adjuster for this automatic oiling system.
stop, check, pour more oil.
Great saw
June 28, 2013
Like the other reviews I read before making the purchase, I really can't say anything bad about the saw. It cuts well, doesn't make me have to deal with yet another gas engine in the garage, and is simple. Bought it for small to medium jobs that don't require me to go into the woods, so it's perfect. If I needed total portability or the ability to cut bigger trees, I'd have bought something else, not written a bad review about this fine saw. Buy it.

So cheap why sharpen??
November 1, 2017
Fit my chainsaw, so cheap it's not even worth messing around with sharpening my old chain. Honestly. I expect to get a new chain about every 2 years.
Palm cutter.
September 24, 2017
Came on time. Great product. Fits my cheap electric chain saw. Most important, after hurricane Irma, I have been sawing large palm and other trees that fell across road with little difficulty. Sharp; great timing.
New chain for my saw
July 26, 2017
This new chain makes cutting the wood so effortless. I had been sharpening my old chain for too long and it dulled quickly. A new chain has made the cutting logs job so much easier.
Excellent replacement chain

Works great, fits Remington electric saw with 52 links. Price was half the in-store price.
Good deal on quality chain saw blades!
April 1, 2017
High quality chain saw blade works perfectly on my Echo 14" chain saw... it is as sharp as it can be!
Great Chain
July 4, 2012
The chain that came with my electric saw from Harbor Freight got dull when I came across a rock inside of a tree truck, yes inside it. This new chain has more chain cutters and they seem to cut better than my original chain. So I highly recommend this chain. At first I was kind of confused about how to get it untangled in order to put it on, but I just kept working with it with leather gloves on and got it so that it could be put on. Always use heavy gloves because of the sharp cutters.

I'm a cut up now!
September 18, 2017
Too bad there isn't 6 stars. Received this today. Excellent packaging. Arrived right on time. Assembled in a couple of minutes (all one needs to do is attach the bar with the chain and add some bar/chain oil. Took if to my backyard... WOW. Cut through limbs like they were butter! Never a problem, no kick back, chain is apparently exceptionally sharp! Plenty of power. Great reach!I would guess that I'm money ahead over having a professional tree trimming company come over and trim these trees!Highly recommend this product!
What a surprise!!!
September 17, 2017
Man oh man can this thing cut. I rarely write reviews but felt I had to after the stellar job this baby did. I ordered this to clean up after hurricane Irma. I have 8 oak trees on my property and while thankfully none blew down, they lost some serious branches. So I needed a pole saw to prune off the damaged limbs. I just don't see how this thing is just 6.5 amps. I have a 13 amp electric chainsaw that is rated at 4.5 horsepower, this little thing blows it away. It chewed thru everything I threw at it with no problems whatsoever. The only limitation is branch thickness as the blade is only 8 inches. But I took it right to its limit and it performed without a single issue. If you are doubtful about this purchase, don't be. This is one product that is well worth the money. As for longevity, only time will tell but build quality is on par with other poles in this class. Get it!!! You will be glad you did.
I am very pleased with this!
June 19, 2017
Stepped up from my manual pole saw. Like the ease of the cuts this one makes. Yes... slight change in the weight of holding it but, you will like how quickly and with ease of working this pole saw. Read manual thoroughly before using. Just a wise thing to do in preparation.
If you need a pole saw, this is the one to get!
November 4, 2013
I've used this Pole Chain now for about 2 hours of trimming trees. It works great, seems very durable, and does everything I've expected very well. I selected this item based primarily on the positive reviews on it, plus it's weight was a little less than some others. Believe me, for a old f*** like me, having even 1 pound less weight on the end of the 10' or 12' extended pole is significant! The only negative I can come up with is that it actually delivered 5 days later than it was originally scheduled - but I can deal with that for a good quality product.
Great tool
June 15, 2013
I replaced my other pole saw with this one. The other one was a little cheaper (at Home Depot) but the price difference wasn't so great as to make it a much better deal. I wish I'd bought this one originally but I'm glad I have it now. Why? Some things I particularly like about it compared to the other one.1. The adjustable length of the pole. The other one is fixed at 9 feet. There are a couple of reasons adjustability is a very nice feature. First, what others have pointed out - use the shorter length to cut up the limbs you've cut down. It's much easier than standing back nine feet to do it. But, an equally important reason is that it can be adjusted easily while using the saw. I use it mainly for palm trees and oaks. When I'm on the ladder, I don't always need or want the saw at its full length. There's about ten pounds hanging on a 9 foot pole and it gets heavy quickly. And, sometimes I'm closer to what I want to cut. Twist the lock on the pole, collapse it a little, tighten the lock and start cutting again. It's very nice.2. A major reason I decided to change saws was that the one I have infuriated me with the chain constantly jumping the track. I tightened it and loosened it and tried everything I could to get the tension right. It didn't matter - if the saw twisted a little while cutting the chain popped off. That meant removing the cover, adjusting the chain, replacing the cover and going back to work - five to ten minutes of cursing the whole time. I just finished trimmng several palm trees and an oak with this one and it did not jump once. Tensioning the chain is very simple and done with the cover on - just turn a screw.3. The oiler on the other one seems to feed oil too fast - the motor always is oily and it runs down the pole. This one doesn't and keeps a light coat of oil on the chain. The other one put too much oil on the chain with the result it jams because the saw dust gets oily and clogs the sprocket - that may be why it jumped the track.4. It cuts faster - that may be simply because it's a new chain so I can't say it's different in that respect from the other.5. It feels sturdier. The pole definitely is stronger. There is absolutely no twisting or bending. The other one doesn't really "bend" but it does flex. This one is very stiff. So - I'm glad I have it and recommend it hightly.
I highly recommend this saw.
June 15, 2013
This is a very well-made pole saw. Assembly was very easy. The pole itself is quite beefy and very easy to extend plus the lock is one of the best features as it's easy to lock and unlock and stays adjusted.I was surprised to see that the cutting guide was made of metal. The oil reservoir has a window so it is easy to see the level of oil. The best part of the saw is that it's the lightest one on the market in this price range So you don't have to be a guerrilla to use it. The motor is more than adequate to get the job done. It comes with a good manual, has a two year warranty, and a single metal tool that is all that is needed to assemble as well to keep the chain property adjusted.I highly recommend this saw.

I used this with my Black and Decker LCS1240 40volt Chainsaw. It worked perfectly. The oil flowed well and was neither too tacky nor too runny for the chain. This is a great value and I would not hesitate to purchase it again.

Oil Spewing Cutting Beast
February 8, 2015
This thing is a cutting monster. The problem is that it cuts too well. I took on way to much work cleaning out my backyard. I had a 50 year old wood fence with overgrown ivy on it that I tackled. The pile covered the patio and was higher than the roof line. I also went up the apple tree and cut some branches so my orange tree next to it could produce more. I then cut off branches on a juniper tree that grew way past the second story on my house. Before this, I had a 16 inch Earthwise that I burned the clutch out on. The 14 inch is a way better size. It isn't too heavy. You can use it in one handed. It cuts as well, if not better than the 16 inch I had. The only problem is that this thing spews oil. On my shoes, my pants, the grass, everywhere. Too bad it doesn't use oil like the Earthwise. It would be perfect. But for the money, the size and its cutting ability, I would buy this one again. Homelite does a nice re-manufacturing job on their products. I also got this really fast. There was a tiny bit of plastic rattling inside. I took off the side cover and the electrical parts looked perfect. It cuts that way too. Just wish the oil was adjustable. Some heavier weight gear oil might help. Post it if you come up with a solution. I took one star off for the oil use. Other than that it doesn't get any better than this.
What a work horse!
January 8, 2011
I needed something quick and cheap to do strawbale work with. Also needed to be fairly light and easy to maneuver. The intent was to use this solely for notching strawbale for post & beam infill, maybe some light firewood cutting.

It arrived in a timely manner and was obviously reconditioned (there was still some oil and saw dust on it) but was as expected.

Then the railroad ties for our foundation work showed up and didn't exactly fit in a couple places (these are 6x8 OAK main line ties saturated in creosote and oil).

Prior experience taught us that cutting these things by hand is a slow, painful process and our other available reciprocating saws and blades weren't really up to the challenge.

Heck, I only paid $30 for this, let's try it out. (Bearing in mind, this was WAY beyond anything the manufacturer recommended using it for). And, holy cow! It really did a great job cutting these huge chunks of oak! Obviously, we were careful not to push it too fast or put a lot of weight on it, so it didn't cut these things in a big hurry, but the blade lasted easily through about 5 or 6 cuts and, if it hadn't been for that tiny piece of gravel (which it actually cleaved very cleanly), we'd probably have been able to keep going. Luckily, that was the last cut...

The blade will have to be replaced before we do any more wood cutting with it, but even in it's current blunted state, it's doing an excellent job doing our strawbale work.

The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is due to it's heavy use of bar oil. I can see where it was usefully oiled for that big oak but even cutting straw, it tends to use a lot of oil.

Not an issue with the saw, per se, but in our application, the housing needs frequent clearing since the straw/oil combination clogs it up pretty quickly.

Bottom line, buy this, you won't be disappointed!
Homelite Chainsaw
July 9, 2009
Bought this item to do light cutting in the backyard. It's electric so no worries about starting those pesky 2 cycle engines. The saw cut well on trees up to about 6 or 7 inches across but I wish it had just a little more power. The chain jumped the bar once but I think that it was because I was a little timid about over tightening it on the bar so after a couple turns on the tensioner everything was fine. Please note this saw is for light use not for major forestry work. I have had no incidents of kickback and I'm quite happy with my purchase. I have found that the chips and dust tend to follow the chain and accumulate in the tensioner housing (I guess because of the oil) so I would recommend a good cleaning after each use.

What a difference! A neighbor had a 12" diameter branch pulled off a tree by a moving truck. I had just received my new chain and tested it out by cutting up the fallen limb. Worked so well and I did not think my previous chain was all that bad. This made me realize just how I had been suffering (and risking binding and kick backs).

October 28, 2017
Hate to take away a star because it works fantasticly but the foam around the hand grip did come apart the first time I used it and it does leak bar and chain oil, even hanging it horizontally . I can fix the foam grip and I wrap a rag around the oil reservoir while storing it. But those are minor problems that shouldn’t be.Having said that, would I buy it again or recommend it, yes, I would. If you put the chain on, in the right direction and adjust it properly, it works great. Keep in mind it is priced well and does the job more expensive pole saws do at a much lower price. It is heavier than a manual pole saw but you have to expect that when you are lifting a small chain saw on the end of the pole. I’ve used several of both manual & electric over several decades and I recommend this one.
does the job
September 21, 2017
Works as described. My husband loves it! Makes reaching and cutting limbs way easier than climbing on a ladder! The only reason we didn't give it 5 stars is the blade could be longer and the unit is a little heavy so its hard to hold up in the air for more than 30 seconds or so.
The warranty service department came thru for me
September 9, 2017
Bought this in 2015, used it to trim some pine limbs, started whining just as i finished, didnt use it again until this year, 2017, the whining got worse, tried adjusted the chain tightness, persisted, the gears between the motor and chain ratchet are stripped, cheap junk, probably cut a total of 30 limbs, DO NOT BUYI contacted their customer service department, they assured me they would send a new saw, even though it was 2 years since I bought the old one.So I changed my rating on this item to 4 stars to reflect the quality of their customer service, and that perhaps this saw as just a lemon in their production line
Certainly Recommend
September 6, 2017
I have been using this now for a couple of months. Does a great job on most sized limbs. Cuts through very easily. Goes through chain oil a little faster than other saws I've used. I wish there was a way to break this down a little for easier storage. But it has been running very strong and has handled most jobs I have used it for with ease.
This saw is a very good value for the money
July 24, 2017
Works as well as a higher priced, but similar, Black and Decker saw I have borrowed from my brother in the past. I wanted my own saw but didn't want to spend much money. This saw is a very good value for the money. However, the chain adjustment is not as easy as the Black & Decker saw although it's not that difficult.
Good buy.
June 18, 2017
Easy to put together. Good quality material (my second Sun Joe tool, reliable brand). Requires oil that was not included. Heavier than I thought but manageable.Overall, it was easy to use (did I mention that it was heavier than I thought?!). It cut with ease although I managed to get it stuck inside the branch twice as I am a rookie!Got the job done in minutes so I am happy with this purchase.

October 13, 2015
Bought to cut down small to medium sized trees around the house. Stopped working after I cut down two larger birds of paradise trees. All the water and and gunk from the very wet birds of paradise trees damaged the chain drive. I emailed the seller and got no response. The saw worked great on the other 7 dry trees I cut down.
i do like the plastic wingnut and chain tighter
September 12, 2015
a half dozen chain drive links rolled over and damaged the first 3 inches of the bar track. after i filed the chain drive links and made sure every thing slide smoothly i assembled the saw. after a short running time the chain jumped the bar. the chain had wedged between the drive gear and the outside washer. the snap ring that holds the washer and drive gear on came out of its' groove. i do like the plastic wingnut and chain tighter. its much easier than using a wrench. i also like the bar oil sight level tank.
If you need a small chain saw, this one is probably not the one you need.
January 10, 2015
Low power. Bogs down when the chain is in contact with more that 2 inches of wood. This would be a hedge trimmer, but not much more. Deliver was very fast.
Did not work
January 7, 2014
I may have gotten a bad unit but this did not work correctly for me at all. The saw didn't cut, it oozed oil out the bottom and was almost empty within minutes of attempting to use it. I did check and double check to ensure the chain was correctly orientated on the bar and installed correctly. Unfortunately as far as I could tell it was blunt. Returns process was quick and efficient. Ordered another saw, set it up and was cutting in minutes.
Not Impressed!
July 17, 2013
I chose this rating, because when you can get the chain locked down and it stays in place, it finally worked well. Because the chain slips more than not and the oil container leaks all over the place, you have to work fast. I won't buy another!

Hard to get chain on saw
Not worth the money saved,
September 20, 2016
It has a very weak cut, took me a few minutes of sawing any branch over 3-4" diameter to get it thin enough to climb up the ladder and cut it the rest of the way with my axe. It overheats super fast which means it is going to weaken the bar/chain quickly over time. I probably wouldn't purchase again if I was cutting any branches larger than a wrist.
It works great now.
September 13, 2016
It was broke when I got it. I ordered it a while back and hadn't used it so I didn't know it was broke and I figured I couldn't return it because it had been to long. So I opened it up and repaired it, it just had a clearance issue with the gears. I repaired it with one washer and about 20 minutes on my time. It works great now.
Somewhat disappointed.

Container looks different but still the oil works for chainsaw
Not A Water Based Lubricant
May 31, 2017
My pole saw owners manual states that the oil weight spec is 10 or 30. This oil does not specify weight on the bottle, or in the product description. The bottle's label only indicates bar and chain oil. Another user asked about this oil's viscosity. Manufacturer answered that item is a 30 weight oil.Item was shipped in a plastic bag, inside of an envelope. Item received has a different label than item featured in the photo. It really is tempting to think that if this is simply SAE 30, I can pour it right into my engine block.Item is not labeled for any other use. While it may be tempting to simply use this oil for other lubricant needs; it is not recommended. Use this only for it's labeled purpose. Keep your chainsaw lubed.
It Works, But Needs a Comparision Between Usage and Cost.
April 11, 2017
It works, but the chainsaw seems to go through the oil much faster than the oil that came with the chainsaw. I used almost half the 1 liter bottle to cut slightly more than the 4 oz bottle that came with the saw. In its defense, I was cutting apart a large hickory tree, (read very hard wood). I think the oil in this was not as viscous as the default one. When I get another bottle, I may post the results of a cost comparison of how much I had to use to how much it cost; I have not done that at this point. That may be the real factor in determining value, as it taking twice as much may be a better value if it costs less than half a longer lasting brand.

I had a 15' log that my tree service did not cut up and it was a fairly small tree, and I figured it might be a handy little tool to have around the garage. When it arrived I put it together and went to cut up my log. My first experience was that it barely cut at all. My experience told me that the chain was on backwards but I was startled to find that it was on correctly. As I was tinkering with the tension and double checking my work my neighbor came by to see what I was doing. He works for the city and uses a chainsaw in his job almost daily so I deferred to him. He checked the saw and indeed confirmed that everything was correct and decided to test it himself. It did much the same as when I used it and when he tried to apply more pressure the chain came off. Later I tried reversing the chain but when I did it wouldn't even mare the wood, much as I had suspected. I don't know what this saw is designed to cut, but it isn't wood. Point of interest: IT WAS FACTORY RECONDITIONED

I bought this based on the ratings and price. The product work great the first 4 branches; however, after the 5 branch (all where less than 2 inches in round) the product completely stopped working. This is the first product that I have bought from Amazon that I have been disappointed with my purchase. Very sad customer. :-(

Works great on a 3 foot

The cutting end is so heavy it's tough cutting elevated branches, especially with the handle extended. Works great on a 3 foot tree
Lasted 2 days. Oil cap won't secure.
June 22, 2016
Works well enough, while it lasts. The oil cap was very cheaply constructed and never sealed well -- threads wouldn't hold tightly before it would slip. Then while sawing, the oil cap fell off without my noticing. Now the whole thing is useless to me.

Use much cheaper Walmart oil. it works fine
September 21, 2017
This is a huge waste of money. There is nothing special about bar oil. Get 5w-20 thin oil for maximum oiling from Walmartfor about $2.45 a quart. You want a lot of oil leaking on to the bar to lube it and the tree to help keep your chain sharp and welllubricated in the bar and sprocket. The reviewer is a former professional tree surgeon specializing in high risk trees and the author of the Kindle book entitled:Sex Education for Adults Secrets To Amazing Sex and Happily Ever After Too

The cap on the bottle was busted. I am surprised it did not leak out completely. I have to use a plastic bag to keep a lid on it.

This saw is totally worthless . It does cut as well as an old bow saw. Used it for the first time today after buying in Oct. 2016 it sits ans chews and then the chain came off . Absolutely a no good piece of garage ; can't even cut a limb one inch around

Was not in working order ...so dull that it just would sit and get hot rather than cut even the smallest limb. Not worth buying.

Homelite should be embarrased.

As a MECHANICAL ENGINEER and former professional car mechanic, I can usually fix about anything mechanical that breaks. This chainsaw beat and humbled me.The CHAIN KEEPS JUMPING OFF, no matter what I tried. Inspected everything carefully - drive links, bar burrs, sticky links, misaligned drive gear ..... but I can only keep it on by keeping the tension very high and then it clatters and clearly is struggling to keep the chain on the sprocket.I love electric chainsaws. I have several 12" Remingtons that have run smooth and trouble free for years. I liked the features on this Homelite and decided to get a 14". The auto-oiler and ez chain tensioner are nice features absent on the 12" Remingon. Unfortunately the saw just doesn't cut worth beans. I thought other people who had chain jumping problems were missing something. Not so. This design is DEEPLY FLAWED. Homelite, should have pulled this design and fixed it. Deeply disappointed in this unit.
Worked great till then

Motor burned out after an hour of use. Worked great till then. When I first started using the saw there was that burning smell which was very ominous of what was to come...

Seems to be okay product. Supposed to fit a Homelite saw with 14" bar, but it is couple of links too short. Sent back for refund.

Not happy ! Bought this as a present for my husband for Christmas and of course I wanted it to be a surprise and it came in a box that says what it actually is so it’s not going to be a surprise! Everything that I purchased from Amazon comes in brown boxes so I didn’t think that I need to clarify that it was a present ! Super pissed !
garbage
November 8, 2017
absolute garbage. bought in autumn for winter cleanup. opened and assembled it recently and does not function. will contact manufacturer but cannot return it due to amazons 30 day return policy. if you decide to waste your money on this product test it immediately on receiving it or better yet, don't waste your money.
Waste of Money!
October 27, 2017
What a disappointment. This saw will not cut. We tried a 2" limb and it took us almost 30 minutes to get through it. That is ridiculous. I read the reviews and thought it would be a great saw but I am terribly disappointed in what we got. A useless piece of junk. I have a electric hedge trimmer that does a better job cutting 2" limbs.
VERY DISAPPOINTED
October 1, 2017
I don't like it! I was very excited to find it. I thought it should be very easy for me to use. It wouldn't even cut a 1" diameter limb without me pushing really hard against the limb. Even after it had been sharpened and tightened. Not happy at all. Really wanted (needed) it to be the perfect tool.
