Five Star Reviews: | 87% Not your local store cheesecloth! August 27, 2017 Not your grocery store flimsy cheesecloth. I expected this to be better, but it is a whole different class. Tiny mesh but strong. Using it to make ricotta cheese, and to strain seeds out of puréed fruit. Lots of uses in the kitchen! They give you tips on how to make your tasks easier. You can even wash and reuse it, its that sturdy. So glad I found it. Excellent quality and value for straining soup stocks or similar uses February 23, 2017 I was not happy with having to use multiple layers of lower stitch count cheesecloth to strain my soup stocks. This product has the perfect stitch count so as it is supplied I just cut a length to line my strainer and it gets all those small particles you want to remove from your two day simmered chicken or ham stock (or veggies) with good flow. If it becomes clogged it is heavy enough to rinse out and continue instead of having to cut a new piece, but it is cheap enough to throw away when done with each batch of stock. Very low price for what you get! Cold brew coffee and soft cheese September 30, 2016 I've been looking for a good quality cheese cloth in a decent amount for making cold brew coffee, Greek yogurt and also trying my hand at making soft cheese like ricotta. I am so glad I found this! This is a finer cheese cloth than I can find locally and it's price is excellent. Only one local store sells cheesecloth labeled as fine and it really falls short of expectation. So far I've used this only for Greek yogurt and soft cheese. It did wonderfully with both, especially the ricotta I made for enchilada lasagna. I am making cold brew coffee very soon. Very High Quality Cheesecloth September 27, 2016 I didn't think this cheesecloth was going to be as good as it actually is, especially the amount you get for the price. It's excellent material and very uniform in weave. I used it this weekend to strain the juice from chokecherries for jelly. It held up very well and removed the fine pulp that will cloud jelly. The cloth was stained very dark purple when I was done but came back to almost new color with nothing but a good rinse in warm water and air dry. On the slim chance I ever manage to wear this stuff out, I'll definitely buy it again. Great product. I have severe allergies to dust and ... February 8, 2016 Great product. I have severe allergies to dust and stuff. I was taught by a professional air and heating person, to cut cheesecloth to size and place in outgoing vents to reduce allergens. Works incredibly well. I get duct work cleaned every two years. This will pull me through, if allergens are bad, until time to clean ducts. I cut a swab about 3-4 roll overs for blowing out duct. Works better than you can imagine. Also helps cut down on dust. Excellent product October 23, 2015 Not sure how much you can say about cheesecloth but I will admit that after buying my cheesecloth in the supermarket for years I didn't realize how much better this one is from Amazon. I like it a lot because of the way it holds up mainly and I don't think I'll ever go back to the flimsy cheesecloth from the supermarket again. I bought this primarily for making Ricotta cheese and it does the job beautifully. | 73% Awesome! October 1, 2017 I just made ricotta with this bad boy.(From this AMAZING book I cannot recommend enough https://www.amazon.com/Food-Lab-Cooking-Through-Science/dp/0393081087/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1506902000&sr=8-1&keywords=j+kenji+lopez+alt)After washing and hanging to dry, it looks great and ready for another use. Can't beat that for the price. Worked for me June 5, 2017 I was using this as a window shade for my plants that can't have direct sunlight. This diffused the light nicely. Not the most common use for cheesecloth I'm sure, but it worked well. For what it's worth, this does seem to be nice high quality cheesecloth. It was a little frayed on the cut edge, but it seems sturdy with a nice strong mesh. Great! March 1, 2017 Worked great, I threw mine in the washer and even the dryer, it shrunk a little but stayed perfectly intact. Can reuse again and again. I didn't know what would happen in the dryer but I think all it did was shrink it a bit. The edges were fraying when I bought it but after washing/drying the edges sort of shrunk up and it isn't fraying anymore. Worked great for me. October 8, 2016 I have used this for both I made and it works great, nothing is getting through this. It really is ultra fine I had nothing but broth get through it. I have not used it on anything else at this time so I am unsure of how it would work with other things. Great for farmers cheese! September 17, 2016 Love this cheese cloth! I've cut mine into half, and I use it to make farmers cheese. Works well and it has small holes. Easy to clean as well and dries well! Great for making yogurt July 25, 2016 My wife loved using this to make homemade yogurt. It strained the whey perfectly and made a great batch. It can be cleaned pretty easily, too. If you are a cook or kitchen enthusiast, this is definitely something to add to your toolbox. |
Four Star Reviews: | 10% Nice March 26, 2017 Seems to be high quality. It is higher quality than the "food grade" cloth my wife purchased at a big box housewares store. I use it in the shop for polishing and she uses it in the kitchen when making chicken stock. Has held up to everything we have thrown at it. I like the price and the fact that I can cut ... September 15, 2016 I like the price and the fact that I can cut as much as I need for each task I work on. I would buy this again. | 15% Not bad for the price. October 5, 2017 I found the perfect iced coffee recipe and needed this for it! You soak a whole bag of coffee grounds in a big tub with water. After soaking, you strain with this and then you have a whole bunch of wonderful iced coffee concentrate! Can't wait to try it! Close weave and strong July 5, 2017 Needed some cheese cloth with a finer weave and this cheese cloth worked perfectly. Nice upgrade over the discount loose weave stuff that I use for general purpose tasks. Amazing!!! May 19, 2017 I bought this to strain my natural juice as it would take me forever to strain my natural juice after I finish blending them. So far I made , cherry and Passion fruit juice and it took me one trial to separate the pulp from the juice. I cut my cloth into two pieces because it is bigger than I expected. Depending on the juice I just double the cloth to minimize having to restrain my juice. The cloth didnt come apart after washing it twice so its a good buy.The material is almost like surgical gauze but finer and bigger. It is fine, but mine had one defect - big knot ... September 8, 2016 It is fine, but mine had one defect - big knot of thread.I did not realized that "Single use" means that it was used, supposedly on cheese factory and not quite thoroughly cleaned. It looked clean, but when I dose it with boiling water, it smelled quite funky, so extra cleaning was necessary. Super clean and easy September 1, 2016 I used this product for home sprouting. I was able to easily sprout rice, beans, and nuts at home. I simply placed this cloth over a mason jar, and followed regular sprouting instructions. I haven't had any issues, and the product was delivered sealed and clean, so I wasn't worried about using it with my sprouted products. The easy-to-breathe cloth is perfect for straining, and the long width of the cloth allows for a wide-range of uses. |
Three Star Reviews: | 3% Mmmm spiders December 2, 2015 I cut this up into spider webbing for a haunted house theme during halloween. It worked well and was pretty inexpensive. Meh. August 29, 2015 Had breaks multiple times while pressing apples. Ended up buying a $3 pillow cases to do the job. Would be great for softer straining practices, but not apple pressing. Cloth was rendered useless the second time I used it. | 7% meh June 21, 2017 It's less than I expectedPROSit works fine, it's cotton, price is a-alrightCONSthere are cheese cloths with superior quality and greater width and better price Much smaller than expeceted but good quality. Not sure i would order again as ... May 19, 2017 Much smaller than expeceted but good quality. Not sure i would order again as the price is a little high for the quantity Not that ultra fine May 9, 2017 I bought this as a cover for my kombucha fermenter jar, however the weave is so loose that even doubled over I felt like fruit flies might still get in and ruin everything.Ended up tossing it out, but it might be fine for other uses, just not a kombucha cover. It's pretty small and has a bit of lint February 21, 2017 Works well but the size stated is misleading. It's pretty small and has a bit of lint. Tricky using it to strain yogurt. OK, but but milk bags are better October 29, 2016 This cheesecloth came with a very strange smell that only came out after 2 hand washes (with dr. bronners), and started shedding almost immediately when I strained my homemade yogurt. Arrived quickly and in perfect condition - but a little smaller that I expected September 11, 2016 Arrived quickly and in perfect condition - but a little smaller that I expected. It was probably described accurately, however I should have checked the dimensions before purchase. Nothing wrong with the product - just matter of size. I should have ordered more than one to o the job. |
Two Star Reviews: | 0% There are no reviews yet | 2% Yellowed, and fell apart so quickly. July 12, 2017 Yellowed, and fell apart so quickly. It was also really stiff dip I wasn't able to use it for my newborns photos Two Stars June 12, 2017 Cant use it. Its constantly shedding its fiber. 100s of tiny white pieces make it impossible to use. I wouldn't recommend it. It's basically a one use item November 26, 2016 I bought this to use as a cheesecloth to make cold brew coffee. I wouldn't recommend it. It's basically a one use item. Bad quality. November 3, 2016 Drains out all the cheese along with water. Doesn't hold the cheese. Bad quality. Cheese cloth is normally pretty large and this was small October 20, 2016 Much smaller than I had expected. Cheese cloth is normally pretty large and this was small. Thinner than expected also. |
One Star Reviews: | 0% There are no reviews yet | 3% Didn't like this cheesecloth at all. June 21, 2017 Didn't help keep the cheese any longer than typical in the fridge and instead caused it to harden. I prefer keeping the cheese in a zip lock bag. This was a failed experiment. Terrible product.. March 13, 2017 Hated this product , allowed nothing to go thru, had like a film on it. Waste of money. Unless you like furry food, go elsewhere! July 2, 2016 There were SO many loose thread ends that I tossed this. I've gotten better at the Dollar Tree! Does not cut well at all; it just shreds ... February 6, 2016 Does not cut well at all; it just shreds to bits. If you want to use a smaller piece of cloth from this big sheet, you're out of luck. |
