I've owned this lighter for about 18 months now. It's worked flawlessly. I've seen a few bad reviews for it not working after a refill and some for it not working from the start. I don't know their particular situation, but I do know that you need to know how to fill and refill butane lighters. You need to release the gas/air through the bottom valve before refilling. If you don't, your lighter won't have enough compressed gas to light. I learned this the hard way. I simply tried adding butane to it when it was new and it wouldn't light. An experienced friend showed me what I was doing wrong.As for longevity, I will admit that this is my pocket lighter so it may not see the type of use of some other users, but after 18 months it's still going strong!One last bit of advice, do not use cheap butane. This also makes a big difference! Most good cigar shops will help you buy the right stuff!

It's a good torch for the price, definitely has a good high output, and an nice low output of flam worth the money. Only con for me seems like it used a lot of fule.

Initial review:After using this product for the first week it has been excellent. It looks nice, feels nice, and works perfectly. It arrives completely empty so expect to have to fill it. I purchased a 5.5 oz can of BernzOmatic butane fuel available at The Home Depot for about $5.00 and has a "universal fueling tip" which couples to the lighter perfectly. It lights my cigars very well. Candles too. The lighter is not very large. A little larger and heavier than a regular Bic lighter. Feels nice in the hand. The fuel level indicator is a nice feature.Tips for getting a good fill:Ensure lighter is completely out of fuel. Press and hold the ignite button for a few seconds to ensure that there is no pressure inside. Place the lighter in the freezer for a couple of hours. When ready to fill, remove lighter from freezer and hold upside down. Uncap and invert butane can. Do not shake can. Couple together straight and vertical, press and hold continuously for about 10 seconds. Release. Some liquid butane will drip/spray onto your hand. Do not panic. This is harmless. Do not use lighter for at least 1-2 hours while it is allowed to return to room temperature. Might take a few tries to light, then should light everytime first try. To ensure it lights on the first attempt: Always pull down the igniter switch slowly, over about a 1-2 second period. This gives a chance for a small amount of fuel to come out before the spark occurs.

Still work great after one year of moderate use.But I still have to mention that its butane container is not very big, compared to another jet flame torch I own, so if used too often, it would be needing refill very soon.But taken into consideration its triple jet flame can always light whatever stuff in almost every condition you'll encounter, you usually won't need the button pressed for over 2 sec, which in return, save both time, butane, even life.WARNING: Adjusting flame is always needed after each refill, or you may lose your eyebrow.

When looking for a torch lighter I read all the reviews of this one and liked what I saw. Although most of the reviews were by men for cigars; I thought I'd give this lighter a try. I was looking for an easy fill and easy trigger for cigs. So many torch lighters have a tough ignite switch. I have weak thumbs. This one exceeded my expectations. Very easy to fill and very easy to ignite. The 3 flame torch is pretty heavy duty. Maybe a bit overkill for cigarettes, but I'm happy. Expensive looking yet affordable.

You just can't beat this for the price! Works great in all wind conditions and is just the right size.

Feels like a quality product, lights every time, and makes a satisfying click when you close it. Best of all, I have refilled it twice, and it continues to work (unlike other butane lighters I've owner, which were made by a company whose name starts with a "C" and ends in "olibri").The only flaw is that if you set the flame adjustment knob near the bottom (or even the 1st half of its range) the lighter will not light. However, once the valve is open, it works exactly as it should.

Beautiful lighter, nicely made. Great quality. It was easy to fill and works perfectly every time I use it. The key is to use ultra premium butane. I use the product from Colibri. Follow directions that come with lighter and you won't have a problem. I say this because of some of the comments and reviews I have read. All I can say this will not be the only lighter I purchase from this company.

I bought this lighter as a gift for my boyfriend, and watching him use it I'm glad I did. He (unfortunately) loves to smoke while driving, and this lighter never fails even with all the windows down. In fact, due to the variable control, it can be TOO powerful if turned all the way up. In that setting it would be an ideal camping lighter. It's easy to refill, but you may need a new tip for your butane can if you don't have them already. It comes in a nice little suede satchel, and has a warranty! So if it ever breaks, he won't be stealing my Bics ;)I wouldn't buy such an expensive lighter for myself because I always lose them, but this would make a great gift or purchase for the responsibly-inclined.

I have a pretty active lifestyle and it took plenty of phones and other items to realize when purchasing items I use daiky, I need to be sure they're durable and made of quality materials that will last.Having said that, I didn't apply this thought to this purchase.I figured this lighter would be used only in my home for private uses.That however wasn't to be. Upon arrival the Orion Double Jet Lighter impresses with its extremely modern-day style yet still holds a sense of refinement.I've dubbed it my Modern-day Gentleman's Lighter.I love how light it is. It's noticeable in weight but not in a way that will keep you aware of its presence in your pants or jacket pocket.The flame and usage are top notch.I've had mine for over 2 weeks and never once has it shown signs of mechanical failure.I am absolutely satisfied withn my purchase.It arrived quickly and in perfect condition and the lighter has functioned without fail.Thanka to Scorch Torch for an exceptional product.I will absolutely recommend this item to my friends.I will also recommend the seller when mentioning it.

Seems to be well-built and works great. Filled it up with butane and it didn't seem to bubble over like most cheap devices do. Lit right up and it's VERY hot!

This lighter is great. It came in the mail on time and unfilled. When you do fill it bleed the air out before you fill it because being in a hot mail truck it gets pressurized in the tank. But this lighter lights every time, and has the same flip top mechenizim as the zippos. When you do light it make sure you do not have your finger on the metal ring around the burners. That does get hot. But overall I do recommend this product.

I like this lighter. It works every time. I've purchased lighters in the past that quit after refilling. Not this one, it works perfectly every time after refilling. My only negative is that it needs refilling more often than some other lighters, but this is due to its powerful 3-element flame. This is a great lighter for pipe and cigar smokers. Very pleased.

worked perfect for about 3-5 months then the igniter switch broke, probably just a minor glitch in production, to save money. Still a great lighter, but now I'll spend just a few dollars more for a better Scorch product.

Great lighter. I keep buying more, because I tend to give them away to friends. Having owned...perhaps 10-12, I've noticed that the top is fairly easily broken off. This has no effect on the function of the lighter, or my purchases of same. Since the lighter comes with a little brown bag, I use that to store my lidless lighters, and can still toss it into my handbag. (I'm mostly concerned about grit/etc getting into the lighter, and the bag solves the problem.)If I could improve one thing about this lighter, it would be to add a lanyard.

The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is the cover of the lighter is in the way when you load the butane. It takes a bit of fooling around to get the right angle on the butane tube to fill it correctly. Other than that, it works great and is an excellent lighter.

It's a good lighter for what I paid....but it doesn't always light reliably. Wish I had spent more. I often have to click the button 4-5 times to get it to light, which is kind of embarrassing in front of people. It looks nice and the build quality is great, it really doesn't seem to scratch easily either. The only other thing I would note is that one time I filled it and the fill port was leaking gas back out until I smacked it on my palm which seemed to knock it loose again. For the money it's pretty good.

One thing that struck me first about this lighter, particularly the gunmetal finish version that I got, is that it just looks pretty. The glossy finish is lacquered, so it can reside in the same pocket as my keys and still keep a nice glossy finish.It is important that you read the instructions. The lighter is shipped with the reservoir filled with an inert gas, and it needs to be vented appropriately. I filled mine with Ronsonol butane fluid, which was cheap at Walmart. I smoke about a pack a day, and this lighter will last me a day and a half (or less, depending if I am showing it off to friends).All in all, I am happy with this purchase. I would buy from this company again.

This is a pretty good torch for what you are paying for. I have had some issues refilling the torch. If you don't clear ALL the remaining butane before refilling it can cause a lot of trouble trying to refill. I have had a couple times while refilling that the butane blows back and sprays all over. Other than that it works great. The double flame does a great job lighting my cigars. I think next time I'll go with a single flame torch but this one does what it needs too. Would recommend if someone is looking to get a cheaper torch lighter.

Pros: Stainless steel, sturdy design, functions beautifully, flame adjustment nob, has two torches instead of one.Cons: The cap has a small amount of give around the hinge. Enough so that you can hear a rattle if you shake it back and forth, but this isn't a big deal for me. This is the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars.Honestly though, for $11 it's an amazing lighter. I would definitely recommend to a friend. Granted I only use it for my occasional cigar and a few miscellaneous things around the house such as lighting candles and what have you. If you smoke a lot or plan on using it on a daily basis, I might suggest something a little nicer.

Very nice-looking and feeling lighter. It lights pretty consistently but it uses fuel pretty fast. I don't smoke, I use this lighter as a tool, heating up wire and such and it does this very, very well. This is by far the hottest flame in a lighter that I've ever seen. It can MELT WIRE in under ten seconds. It's amazing. I suggest keeping it a a low flame size setting when you first get it. The flame on its highest setting is taller than the lighter itself. Not kidding. I've seen a lot of bad reviews saying "I just got this and it doesn't work". It doesn't come with fuel! They cant legally ship these kind of lighters with fuel in them. If people read the description on an item before purchasing, life would be so much easier for the sellers. Overall I really like this lighter. If you are considering buying this know that you will have to buy a lot of fuel. It sucks it up like candy.

I bought this lighter with the sole intention of using it as a cheap butane torch for my fireworks hobby. Nothing is better for lighting fireworks that a butane torch in my opinion. Initial flame burns super hot that immediately ignites wicks. This lighter functions perfectly for this use, though after the second firework season, the lighter has started to work only sporadically and sometimes will not light even though i hear the release of butane gas. I believe it is because of the gunk buildup from the firework wicks that produce black smoke and gunk or burn marks to things that are around them. I have tried to clean out the lighters butane release valves and that seemed to work a little bit, but never got back to its original status of always lighting with the flick of the lighter. I have used other butane torches for fireworks and some are not designed like a cigar lighter such as this one, and those work much better as they are designed to do more than just light cigars or cigarettes, though they can be a bit pricier

Great for the price. It's nice to be able to pull this guy out when asked for a light. It looks good and works just as well. Due to the duel jet flame it eats through fuel like candy, but does it with style. I usually light for a group of people, so I get my moneys worth by lighting two cigarettes at once.While at first glance it looks high end, but upon closer inspection, you can see the nitty-picky details of imperfection. But it is by no means a low quality lighter. Could be more efficient though. To improve efficiency I just turn down the flame adjuster, you only need a low jet flame to get a cigarette going. I suggest turning it down when lighting cigars, sense the jet can scorch the wrapper. A low flame is a great general setting, unless you intend to impress.Overall, great buy, very happy.

This lighter looks nice, and is functional. It has a few quips though, the spring on the cover isn't very good, and the cover doesn't always align with the base. Also, although the description said new, mine already had finger prints and even noticeable scratches on it. Besides that though, it works, and is a nice lighter to have.Edit: I have found a few more problems for those interested, it scrathes very easily, so be careful. I ended up sanding most of the body, which has actually made it look better in my opinion. And one more very crucial thing, the gas is set to come out AFTER the spark. This means you'll usually have to press the button twice in quick succession to get a succesful ignition. Also, I have found the fuel tank to be rather small. Besides that though, it's sturdy, feels good in the hand, and overal good for the price. One last good thing, the noises it makes when you flip it open or closed, are EXTREMELY satisfying.Edit 2: I was wrong about the small fuel tank, as it turns out, you just need to wait longer for all the butane to go on, it takes much longer than you average lighter to fill. once that's done though, it runs for a very respectable amount of time.

Three stars since it works well. Only three stars as it consumes the butane at 10X (more?) the rate of a throw away lighter. The result is this costs more to maintain than to buy throw away lighters.

It is better than matches for lighting cigars. I have used it for about 6 months. However, sometimes it goes out when I light it. It seems I have to keep the lid down a bit to get it started, then it will go fine. I also noticed after about 2 refills, the strength of one of the blue flames coming out is weak in 1/3 ports. The length of flame is smaller than the other two and doesn't stay lit. Compared to a kitchen torch that i find in cigar bars, this is weaker.

As a lighter it works fine. The hinge mechanism lasted about a week and a half before breaking off tho.

Lighter is very nice and worked well for a few weeks after which the slider/actuator refused to rebound to the top position so the cap would not stay closed. I reported it too Scorch and they are looking into it. I will report back with any resolution....Replacement sent and working well so far..

I purchased this item about 3 months ago and the top hinge broke. the lighter works good however, it uses the fuel quite quickly. I purchased this lighter because of the reviews and the warranty 1 year from purchase date. I am requesting a replacement. but if I have to replace this unit every 3 months, it's not worth the trouble.

Beautiful, elegant design. I followed the instructions and the Scorch Torch lasts two weeks with a butane fill up. No more rough thumbprint from the metal wheel of a Zippo lighter. Be careful though....You can singe your eyelashes if you bring it too close when lighting up.UPDATE: July 12, 2014Wellll, after owning the Scorch Torch since April, the whole mechanism has finally gone bust. The slider to initiate opening the cap,emitting the butane and creating the spark to light the butane gas, no longer works as assembled. It doesn't open up the cap consistently, it does emit gas, but fails to initiate a spark. I would say that it is defective. I guess I'll contact the manufacturer to see i they will honor their One Year Warranty.Update: February 14, 2015Ok...so I have now gone through 3 of these lighters; one was a manufacturer's replacement... Once you learn to evacuate the lighter of gas before refilling, the lighter works great. However, the mechanical slider to open the cap and start ignition is it's weakest link. Since I haven't figured out how to open the lighter, I'm guessing that the spring inside the lever has dislodged itself and the lever no longer works as designed. This has happened to all three of my lighters after 2-3 months of use. And, while support service at Scorch was kind enough to send a replacement for one of them, I haven't bothered again because experience tells me that there is a flaw in the mechanics of the ignition lever.

Your average butane lighter. It doesn't do anything special. It does what it's advertised to do and it looks good.

Very good lighter, but the fueling tip at the bottom is slightly off to one side. That makes it a little difficult for me to fill the lighter (fuel leaks while I'm filling up).But once the fuel is in it works great.

Was great while it lasted. Good flame. Easy to adjust the flame. Solid feel. I used it almost daily for about 10 months before it broke on me.The issue is with the ignition. Seem alike there's something inside that isn't moving back into place so the ignition button can work. It still moves gas and whatnot. It's just the ignition that isn't working.If this was something I hadn't spent 10 or 11 dollars on I wouldn't mind the failure. Unsure whether I'll buy another to replace this. It really was a great lighter.

Should have got model with 3 jets ... none the less, this is good and I am keeping it. I do like the flip top design.

The lighter is okay seems to work pretty well. The filling instructions do not make a whole lot of sense. It says to only fill the lighter 80% full yet there is no way for you to see how much butane is actually going into the lighter. Maybe I missed something. Once you follow all the proper instructions and get it working it seems to work fine. Only used it a couple times so I don't know how long it will last but here's hoping.

Item lid broke shortly after I got it. Otherwise it was a great lighter.

Very cool lighter but top cover hinge broke off after a couple weeks. It's made of cast or sintered metal and can not handle the repeated openings that slam onto a stop point. The lighter still works fine, but without the hinge/cover assembly. Fix the cover/hinge assembly, making it more durable, and you probably have a 5-star lighter. With the weight of the lighter, it's not worth shipping back for a replacement.

Works alright, but hinge is fragile and lid broke off within a month. The warranty covers this, but they informed me that they were sold out so they gave me refund. Make sure to check though, they "accidently" charged me again instead of refunding, but luckily I had a Amazon Prime Card and they were able to settle that easily. Overall, it looks nice, works alright, but I wouldn't recommend.

Lighter was great...at first. Nice weight to it. Looks good. BUT, much like others have noted, once you get through the initial fill, the lighter becomes VERY intermittent when trying to light it. It takes 10+ attempts for it to light, if it lights at all...very frustrating. It's also worth noting that the instructions for filling were followed perfectly, while using premium butane.I have another Scorch Torch Scorch Torch Emissary Easy Slide Switch Triple Jet Flame Butane Torch Cigarette Cigar Lighter w/ Punch Cutter Tool (Gunmetal) purchased through Amazon as well. It does the same thing, so at least in MY experience, it appears to be a manufacturer issue, rather than a specific model issue.

Worked ok for awhile, but failed to fuel after a few months use.

The lighter has a nice flame, but after three weeks of use, the electronic spark component that lights it has broken.Maybe I just got a bad one. Other than it no longer working, the outer shell is very sturdy, the size is just what i was looking for to keep in my pocket, and as I said, the flame is great. just don't plan on using it too often.

The ignition spark quit after 2 mos. Otherwise it was a nice lighter, easy to fill and flame adjustable without a screwdriver. But as I said after 2 mos. it is useless.

I have ordered two of these because I lost my first one in a river. The first one worked flawlessly. The jet could be changed and the gas stream was always consistent. It had trouble lighting on occasion but it was infrequent enough to where I didn't mind.The second lighter I received however, was much less functional. The stream of gas is inconsistent, it lights less frequently than not and the flame does not adjust when I turn the valve on the bottom of the lighter. Inconsistent quality. The good ones work great but the bad ones are almost unusable.

Lip slightly misaligned but performs well. Got scratched pretty easily. Photo is after about 6 weeks carried in a pocket with no other metal objects.

I love this lighter, except after 4 months use, the return spring is too weak to push the flick portion back up without help. The spring eventually stopped working all together and the lighter also leaked fuel. So dead after 5 months use.Update: My lighter was replaced by Scorch but taken away a couple weeks later by the TSA. You can carry Bic lighters but not torch lighters on board planes.So I purchased another one. This one has a flaw with the nozzle from day one. It flames way to high and if you try to turn it down it just sputters at the same height. I'm reducing my rating to 2 stars because it's hit or miss that you get one that works the way it should.Sad that the one taken away by the TSA was the only one that worked right.

Cheap!!! Stopped working after a week!!! Loved it until then. It stopped making a spark which ignites the flame. Please send new one and I'll return broken one in new packaging.

Lighter failed after a couple months of use. Contacted manufacturer to have it replaced under warranty. I provided Amazon order receipt, description of issue, and pictures of the broken cap of the lighter. Manufacturer did not even have the courtesy to reply to multiple emails. You get what you pay for, but a company that says they back their product with a warranty should honor it.

I have purchased 8 of these lighters. 6 were gifts. Every last one of them has broke within the first month! The return process seems to be a pain. If 8/8 are junk, why would I want another one? Don't brush this review off. I'm very meticulous and I assure you, all instructions were followed. The two I bought for myself, they were amazing until they weren't. This would be the only lighter I would ever carry if I could get one that would last a year.

I purchased this for cigars after seeing 4/5 stars. It stopped working well after 30 days, completely stopped at 90 days (no longer sparks). I came back to Amazon to take a look and was amazed to see that ALL THESE PEOPLE are giving it three and four star reviews while noting that it has mechanical problems, doesn't last - or they've been through 3-4 of them, and are switching...Why on earth would you give something a good review if it has an engineered defect, doesn't last very long, requires frequent replacement, or you're dissatisfied with it? That's a disservice to Amazon customers.

Only been using for a week so it may be me but it seems that I have to click it three or four times before the flame stays lit the first time, then it lights every time. Have tried adjusting the flame but so far that hasn't helped. Great flame when it works though, and like I say it's probably just taking me a while to get it set right.Update Sept 21, 2017Lighter broke after about six months, contacted company who sent me a new one after 4 emails back and forth. Received the new one and guess what? After after another six or so months it also broke just like the first one. If you own one be careful as when opening the lighter the top will brake and fly right off. See my picture

The lighter worked as described, however, I always had difficulty keeping the lid closed, and now after only a few months, it won't stay closed at all. It seems the slider has a weak spring which eventually became a defective spring. I only use it for cigars, so it doesn't get much use, and it just sits around - not in my pocket - when not in use.UPDATE: downgrading to one star. The slide-lever for the lid is also the igniter. It quit working last night, no longer "clicking" to create the spark.

The lighter stopped working after a week. It was a very nice lighter while it worked.

Purchased two lighters. One does not work, the other does. You have to buy two to get one to work. And will not take them back and replace them for a working unit.

I was sent a broken lighter. The igniter doesn't work and the butane feed sputters. Even on the lowest setting, it feeds the butane so fast that it can't ignite.

Worked great for 3 months, long enough to be out of time frame to return, the ignition button will not return fully upward so will not engage. Bang it works a couple times and it engages then stops working completely.

Works well when there is butane in it but it leaks fuel. Within 48hrs of filling it is empty with NO use. I also have a Scorch Emissary triple flame and it works flawlessly and holds fuel for a long time.
