Great scanner for listening in on local police, fire, and ems! Easy to program and simple to use. Very pleased

Repeat order, now with two scanners set up: 1 set to Police/ParaMedic/Fire and the other set to Aviation. Most interesting to listen to the events and happenings around where I live.

I only wanted to listen to 3 Air band frequencies and there are no numeric buttons to set the frequency. Pressing the Bank buttons can disable each bank, so work through until only Air and Private are shown. Hit HOLD once while it scanning the Air band then use up and down to get the correct frequency, in my case 124.50. Hit PROG, PRIVATE, PROG and it will be stored in slot 0. Repeat for the other two channels which will store in slots 1 and 2. Disable the Air bank and it will only scan your 3 stored frequencies in the Private bank. Hit HOLD if you only want to listen to one frequency.When you power up it retains the last search settings.Nice product, easy to install.

Can't seem to raise the squelch enough at times to prevent static but other then that I love it and it comes in very handy.

gets good signal, it was easy to program was like programing the bct-7 i already have really nice set up the features are nice also also came with a accessory pack for the mounting in mobile and the cords for it also

I needed a couple of these for receiving emergency broadcasts for a local radio station that I engineer for. I'm knocking them down to 4-stars only because they aren't the most intuitive units to program. Nevertheless, they are both doing their job well and I'm very happy with the result. If I could do 4 1/2 stars here that's what they'd get. What's really nice is that they include a BNC connector for the antenna (great if you need to feed it with an external antenna) and an audio line output connector, which I also needed in order to feed the audio from these into our EAS server. All told I would definitely buy these again if I need more.

Fairly easy to program and use. It also seems to be a very sensitive receiver. My only complaint is the tone of the speaker. It must be a cheap one because it has very little low end. It sounds tinny! You can however use an external speaker.

Nice radio just takes some time and patiences to program . Watch the Utube videos and you will have no worries

THIS NEWER MODEL DOESNT SEEM TO HAVE THE RANGE THE OLDER MODEL DOES BUT STILL PICKS UP AND DELIVERS A CLEAR BRAODCAST.WELL WORTH THE MONEY,HOWEVER THE GLASS ANTENNAS DO NOT WORK WELL WITH THIS SCANNER.(GLASS MOUNT ANTENNA) THESE ALSO SEEM TO PICK UP MORE ENGINE NIOSE THEN THE OLDER MODEL EVER DID

works ok the con is programming no buttons to type in the codes an that is a problem

Antenna broke almost immediately with very little pressure while extending it. Could not believe how delicate it was. Scanner ok in performance.

Good unit and reasonable sensitivity. Frequency selection is poor-average.Programming the unit for specific frequencies is a huge pain.

I think it is a great deal for an 800 frequency scanner but it doesn't work like one you just put the local frequencies in. Works great as a Mobil unit, make sure to buy an external antenna for that purpose. Scans frequencies numerical so you miss out if both the fire department and police are called.

As many have stated its easy to program add the freq to memory . However it is very difficult to get the freq displayed to program it into memory. Without keybord direct entry you must get the scanner to land on or close to the freq you want to add . Yes the up down arrows with the scanner in hold will allow you to manualy enter the freq . However the up down steps do not allow for inbetween freq entry . Speaker is very tinny and a lot of white noise in background so if you like listening to static this is the one for you . This can be corrected with a good external speaker. I own 6 other scanners and this is not the quality I expected of Uniden . their is still activity on analog,this is a good radio,not very easy to program as were the bearcats of the 90's and even early 00's.it already contains the frequencies,so you dont need to have the numbers to punch in,as there is no number pad anyway.i receive a lot of birdies and dead carriers,still havent figured why.can listen to c.b.,taxicabs,some security,ham operators,both antennas receive the same signals and transmissions,one is not better than the other.i was hoping to hear csx-railroad but got nothing on those channels.overall for 86.99 not bad,but dont expect it to be alive with broadcasts.perhaps more than just the police have gone digital.

Doesn't seem to work that great. Product cuts in and out on wb and other channels.

Much to difficult to program local channels. Preprogrammed channels don't cover my area.

im not sure it could be the antenna but i'm not not getting anything but static it scans so much and not receiving i keep changing stationsand still nothing I'm very disappointed I have had a Uniden model 800 mhz BC355n desk top unit only getting local fire and medical. I thought I would be getting much more then this with your new radio weather is the only thing coming thu. iv had your scanner on from the start of thismessage and still nothing, maybe you can tell me what i'm doing wrong, or should I return

This is the fourth or fifth scanner that I have had. It's almost impossible to use, because there is no way to enter frequencies directly. Instead, you have to scan or step through closely spaced frequencies and select the ones you want to save.

The product works well but the operating instructions suck! If you want to "Program" a specific channel you have to "grab it" as it is being used???? No way to enter frequencies into a private channel, This is probably the lousiest instruction manual I have ever tried to use. It may be a very good device but you better be a scanner savant to figure out how to use it.

Programming is very difficult. Programmed channels not useful in my area, Sensitivity & audio is poor on received channels. Older Uniden out performs it hands down. As a former radio technician I can't recommend this scanner. Simple scanner should be simple to operate & this one is not. Returning it for refund.

Product is already broken...not happy for the price I paid and has been only a year

Sorry for late reply - this unit is not up to my standard - badly recepeption of signals - I have to move it around my apartment to receive signals from aircrafts and landstations - ofourse this is made for USA but the air radios are on the the same freqency -regardssvanur halldórsson

Impossible to program; no numeric keypad. Overly, overly complicated. This thing was designed by an idiot or a drunk person....Follow Up 18 Feb 17: This item was returned for a refund. I was extremely disappointed that the scanner had no user-programmablecapability or function. All that it had were pre-programmed frequencies that were useless in my area, and there appeared to beno way to get around this operational problem. I have had similar problems with Bearcat/Uniden scanners in the past and after this,will no longer purchase this brand of scanners at all....too problematic, too difficult to work with, and too unreliable.

The Uniden 800 MHz 300 channel scanner sucks! It does not pick up any kind of channels! Just a lot of white noise & maybe a cb trucker if there close enough! If your looking 4 a crappy scanner, then this is the one 4 you!...

It has worked fine except the screen has corrupted. The best way I can describe it is the numbers are upside down and backwards and there is also the occasional letter thrown into the display. I can no longer program this radio manually and I have to use the close call or scan. Is it worth it? NO!
