Comfortable.We haven't started using it yet as baby won't be born for another 3 months. But the mattress did rise fully within about 3 days. May get better with time, but it was not enough that it created a hazard to my sleeping child. That being said she is 17 months. It is the perfect firmness. Eventually we took it out of all the covers (there are three) and worked with it. We rolled it one way, rolled it another. Kneaded and pressed it all over. Crunched it up and pulled it out. I guess we will see how it fills out over time I really want to like this crib mattress November 20, 2016 I really want to like this crib mattress, but one edge still hasn't expanded. I took it out of the packaging and put it on the bed in our guest bedroom to expand right away (literally within 30 minutes after delivery). It was left to expand for a week and a half and that one edge just won't budge. I think it'll still work for our little one but it's just annoying. First, the elastic around the edge is not very strong. I mean both in how tightly it wraps the pad around the mattress and the quality of the elastic. Honestly, the elastic doesn't look like it will last the 2 years we need it to. Secondly, I put it in the washer and dryer when it arrived and it came out looking kinda gross. It seemed it had caught every loose strand of hair and lint in the load and velcroed it to the top layer. Also, the top layered had "pilled" quite a bit and looked raggedy. I will probably return it and buy a better quality one. Also my mattress never fully expanded (on one side). This was a combo purchase that I did with a new crib so I guess it was worth what I paid for it but I definitely wouldn't purchase this separate or ever again. Very disappointed! September 9, 2017 I usually do not put a lot of stock in customer reviews because I know how some people are. I bought this in spite of the negative reviews. I wish that I had listened to them. I have had mine out for 24 hours now and the highest end is only 3 inches in depth. There is no way a child could lay on this due to the fact that it varies in height all over. Very disappointed! As with others...did not expand after a month. February 7, 2017 As with what seems like many others, mattress did not expand as stated and has been sitting opened in the crib for over a month. Have not yet tried hair dryers, heaters, jumping on it with bare feet, etc. but may resort to that soon. I needed several more in a hurry, and I wrongly assumed that this product was the same as our other ones (American Baby Company Waterproof Quilted Crib Size Fitted Mattress Cover made with Organic Cotton, Natural Color), except not made with organic cotton, so cheaper. That was not true - these are thinner and feel very plastic-y, where the others are soft and more cushioned. They have several layers and are more breathable. It seems like these would protect your mattress fine, but I’ll be returning them because they seem uncomfortable. Very soft BUT.... July 19, 2017 Started pilling the very first time I washed it. The material it's covered with is basically too soft and each time I wash it it looks messier and messier. If I don't brush it with my pill- remover every single time it creates an uneven sleeping surface under my baby's crib sheets.
