Inexpensive Peace of Mind
July 20, 2015
Very happy with this camera. I bought this to be able to remotely check in on my elderly grandmother when I'm not at home and it does that fantastically, so long as I'm using a cell phone (Still haven't figure out how to connect an off network computer to it, however since the cell phone app works fine this isnt a huge problem). My main issue *heads up software devs*, is that not all the features are available via computer unless you are using internet explorer. As a person younger than 50 :) I tend to use either chrome or firefox and when I tried to test the audio part of this camera it kept telling me I'd have to use IE if I wanted that feature. Not a deterrent especially for the price of this camera however since I imagine most people DON'T use IE anymore this might be something that is addressed in future releases. All in all very pleased, thinking about ordering another one for the front door to be able to see who's actually visiting since I'm to short for my peep hole. Would recommend this to anyone looking to pick up an inexpensive security/nanny cam.
Fits the bill ... not so much any more

This is a great little camera. Set up took about 5 minutes and the app is very easy to use. This is the one to get if you want a basic camera that's easy to set up, with good features and a good picture.UPDATE: One week later the camera stopped working. Apparently a hardware issue as it no longer turns on when plugged in (even though the green light shows). Sending it back tomorrow!!!
A Great value for the price

Camera installed easily to my home network -- both wired and wi-fi. If you want to view this device outside of your immediate network, you will have to port forward. Port forwarding sounds scary, but it's really not hard to do. The online manual that comes with the camera has all of the details for most of the popular routers. Follow the instructions and you are in business. Only caution is with the amount of data an IP camera will send to you. Generally not a problem on wi-fi, but if you are using your phone's data plan, it will eat up your allotment very quickly. I had to temporarily bump up my plan to a larger data package to avoid an overage. But now I understand the issue will will only use the cam remotely with a wi-fi connection. Free Android app (Tenvis Sight) works slick ... even found another 3rd party app that works just as well with the cam. I loaded that one on my Kindle Fire.
Very good Buy so far with excellent low light ability's.

I am almost a week in testing this camera, three days inside after setting it up testing its ability and testing out software to use with it and then outside in a covered area for the past four days without a hitch. If you have a large network that includes more than one wireless router or network switches like my home network does be aware the software assigns it a fixed IP address which is good for working with the camera but can cause havoc once you try to go wireless for it if you did not setup the camera on the same IP address range. For example if your behind a second router that assigns the camera a IP address of 192.168.0.XXX and your main router which you intend to use it wireless with uses the range of 192.168.1.XXX the camera will never connect wireless. So make sure to plug it directly into the router with the wireless you intend to use comes from to get around this issue. The video quality is good for the price and only blurs when being panned around at a setting a Normal speed or faster so for a smooth video when panning use a slower speed. The light adjusting ability of this camera is outstanding, I can sit here and look outside a window and can barely see but the view from the camera makes it appear mid day and that's not even it using the night vision which works wonderful when you make sure to also account for the IR led maximum range. The Pan ability is almost funny that even though it is not stated as 360 deg, the camera can pan around far enough that it can see its own antenna from both directions so you can not hide from it in a circle but one tip I would give is that even though it states its 90 degrees Tilt it can really only go about 5 degrees down and 85 degrees up so if you intend to mount it over 5 feet in the air then mount it upside down like I did and invert the view in the software to correct for that and it will give you the ability to look all the way down including directly under the camera.
Better than others I've had
August 29, 2013
I've had some bad experiences with wireless IP cameras and this one was refreshing that it worked out of the box. I had no issues setting it up, but I am fairly technical...I knew how to change the sub-net to work on my network and what not. I've used it both wirelessly and wired, though I currently have it on my house with a wired network connection. I love that I can rotate it and move it from the web interface, even from my phone. I use software iSpy to monitor and record with it full time and it integrates well.Only downside is I wish it had a wider angle lens. This is more an issue with my use of it than the product itself, and I believe wide angle lenses can be found here on Amazon that will work. I use mine for home security rather than room monitoring. All in all, the price is right and I would buy again.
Great product at a bargain price

Bought a TENVIS JPT3815W for its good price. TENVIS made it tremendously easy to setup, I choose the "Wizard Mode" during setup, I am not exactly tech savvy but I was able to detect the cameraon my network instantly. I followed the setup instruction and successfully connect to WiFi wirelessly! This company offers access URL for users to view the camera image through internet, which is fabulus. The setup wizard has automatic way to set port forwarding, unfortunately that doesn't work for me. However, by following the instructions on zettaguard.com website (their distributor), I was able to setup the port forwarding.Images is great, Pan/Tilt control is very smooth. IR cut is not included, but I have no complains due to its price. The product can remember 6 preset positions for quick navigation, it works perfect. It has 2 way audit so I can hear what is happening in our living room through the camera. You can take picture snapshot, save videos on your hard drives -I explored most of features and I am so happy to own this camera. The only thing need to improve is its browser compatibility - it works with IE the best, but not so good with other browsers.

***Finally! An inexpensive, but Excellent Security Camera that's Fully Compatible with Windows 10***
July 28, 2017
I must confess that this is one gorgeous camera, and it works great with Windows 10. The CMS NVR software installs and recognizes the camera within seconds, and then it's just a matter of making all the necessary changes to the settings, which can take some time to complete...after you're done cursing at the Chinese person that wrote the very limited instructions included in the CD.The Camera comes with all the required hardware for installing and connecting it. All you really need is at least a 25' to 200' cat 6 network cable (depending on your needs) to connect to the camera from your Router or Modem, fortunately I had already purchased a 50' network cable to connect my camera. The 2 POE injectors are a true blessing since you won't need an outside electrical outlet for power, and you can just run your network cable up to 200' without affecting the image quality, which is fantastic at 720P. Again, I can't emphasize enough as to what a Great Camera this is for its Price!
Got more than I paid for
March 23, 2017
Actually not bad. I install CCTV for a living and fully expected you get what you pay for to apply but these are pretty nice. I needed something quick and cheap to cover a mare that is about to foal. Once I had an IP address, username and password set in the cameras my NVR automatically picked them up and added them. The metal case is on par with cameras a lot more expensive. I would like to be able to tighten the swivels a bit more but it works for what it is. Day color is on par with a camera of its resolution but the night impresses me more. A lot more distance on the IR than I expected. Easily 75ft or so. The way these do POE threw me a bit but I had to consider most people who would buy these probably would not have a regular POE switch. I didn't have one handy it worked out good. I want to take off a star because the internal web interface only works in IE and you have to disable pretty much all the activeX security to get it to run but I have had to do the same with cameras costing 10 times as much so I really can't. If you stick to the setup program on the disc and use a good NVR software you won't need the web interface.
Good solid camera, sharp picture.
November 20, 2015
Solid camera, great picture. I have zero experience setting up an ip camera, but had this up and running in ten minutes. Very simple. It does work with ispy. The camera has good solid metal housing, dont know how weather proof it is, time will tell I guess. The image is pretty sharp day and night, no complaints there. In night vision mode the IR illuminators on the camera do visibly light up red, but it is pretty faint so it shouldn't be all that noticeable. The plug on the camera is quite large so you'll have to drill a good sized hole to fit it through if you want it outside. You cannot put it behind a window, the infrared light will just reflect back off of the glass. You could always tape the ir lights and get a separate IR illuminator if you want it behind a window. The software is simplistic but usable, but i just use Ispy myself. All in all im happy with this camera and would buy another.
Astonished! Wonderful quality. Well worth the money!
June 7, 2015
I could not believe the quality of this camera! I connected it to a wireless access point (in a tree) and am absolutely astonished at the quality for only $40! I will definitely be buying more of these. Immediately after buying this, I realized that it wasn't wireless and almost cancelled my order until I read the other reviews and I decided to give it a try. This camera is making me reconsider my $80-90 Foscam FI8905w models. Night vision and daylight vision are very crisp and I will definitely be purchasing more of these and connecting them to wireless access points.I am posting pictures of the difference between a Foscam Fi8905w and the Hosafe IMB1G The pictures of the barn are with the Hosafe and the pictures of the front lawn are with the Foscam. Makes me sick with the difference of what I paid for the Foscams (since I have 3 of them and could have bought 8 for the price i paid for them)
This could have been a 2 Star review - But its not!
March 13, 2015
I got the camera up and running with almost no issues. I did have some troubles changing the IP address using Internet Explorer. There was an ActiveX plugin security issue I had to change settings for. I would recommend using the CMS 2.0 software that ships with the camera over a browser for setup. It was easily discovered by my Milestone server and ran great for a few days. That was until I tried updating the firmware. I updated the firmware using the built in update tools. Once the camera updated it was no longer worked with Milestone. I also own Blue Iris, so I tried to use it to connect to the camera to see where the issue was. Blue Iris no longer worked with it either. I could see video with a browser and the CMS 2.0 software but no other way. This is where the review could have gone to 2 stars. BUT, I sent a message to the seller (Hosafe) and within minutes I got a response to my issue. It took many pleasant emails and Skype sessions to fix my camera, but they got it working again in under 24 hrs. Customer service was outstanding!!! I really mean it!It''s a $40 camera with good image quality both day and night with customer support that beats big name companies. What else can I ask for.The image was taken at sunset on an overcast day.
A SURPRISING ERROR ON MY PART.
March 4, 2015
This is a very basic review. I ordered this camera by mistake thinking it had standard video out instead of through a CAT5-6 cable. My error. I did connect this camera to my network just to see what it would look like. The picture is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!! For the extremely low price that I paid for this cam I am going to keep it "Just in case". Technical response. I emailed the company twice. Both times I received a personal email response within 25 minutes. The photo shows a black cam. I received a white one. Not really a big deal. lf you can use a camera in this configuration you can't go wrong. I included a photo taken on a very dreary day. It impressed me for sure. All this for only 40 bucks??!!

Great camera for $40 with easy setup
June 11, 2016
A little intimidating at first, but if you follow the instructions you'll be okay. This requires you to plug it into your wireless router with the included 3 foot long piece of LAN ethernet cable. Then load the CD that comes with it, and follow the instructions. Worked great with my Windows 7 64bit and a gmail account to send me motion notices. I don't like that you can't talk thru AND hear the camera at the same time, but for $40, you're not going to get crazy features. I can hear people talking to me through the camera, and they can hear me, through a small speaker on the cam.It does pan / tile 360 degrees, and the IR works well. This isn't super HD quality video, but will catch someone's face breaking into my house which is what I want it for / as a threat deterrent. One piece of feedback for the company - the QR code they put on the bottom of the unit for setup DOES NOT scan....it's a bad print, and you end up having to put the ID number in by hand manually....some 20+ letters and digits.
Camera nice but remote config a bit difficult
May 29, 2015
I received my camera in a very timely manner. The item was packaged well and in excellent condition. I plugged in the camera per the instructions and the camera went through its setup process. I was able to connect the camera to my LOCAL network with out any issues. I was also able to load the New Tenvis app on my Android smartphone and load the application required for a PC. As I said all is well LOCALLY (on my home network) but I am not able to get the camera to show remotely. I have performed all the required items in the instructions (which could be a little better) and I have gone online to the support page of Tenvis and read the forums, etc. I have attempted to port forward the port I am using (port 81) for the camera without success. It also shows me that the provided DDNS is ok but the link does not work. I am happy with the camera but really need to get the remote access working ASAP. I have sent an email to support and waiting to hear back from them. Thanks.
Nice camera with easy set up and simple to use features
May 21, 2015
This is my first wireless camera so please bear that in mind regarding this review. This thing is great. Super easy to set up.1. Plug it in and let it boot up. That took about 1 minute.2. Connect the camera to your router using a network cable. 5 seconds3. Download the software to your phone (Android or iPhone.) The booklet and the unit have a QR code on it which I scanned with my phone. This helped me download the software to my phone. About 3 minutes4. Using the software, connect with the camera with wifi. About 2 minutes. You can now disconnect the camera from the routerOnce I finished step 4, I unplugged the camera and took it to another room. I only had to plug it in again. No other set up needed. The camera produces a very good quality picture. The infared is pretty darn good too. I'm impressed.I am able to move the camera left and right, up and down by swiping the image on my phone's screen. You can even zoom.I can also take a snapshot of the image. Images are automatically saved to a file. They can be forwarded via email, text, or Google+. Very user friendly.I did test the audio. Listening was ok at best. The sound coming out is decent. You can hook up speakers but I haven't so won't comment on that. I can say that I got my dog to sit and lie down by being in another room across the house and speaking to her through the camera.I gave it 4 stars because there is some noise when the camera turns. Like the sound of a motor humming. Nothing really bad but you can hear it if the room is quiet.I also gave it 4 stars because when you zoom you loose a lot of quality. Otherwise the picture is very good, not great.Glad I bought it and would recommend it.EDIT:This camera came with a $10 mail in rebate. It has been six months and I have not received the rebate. I have mailed the company once a month asking for an update and have received one reply to say that the rebate is on the way. This does not change my opinion of the product. It does make me hesitate to order from the same company again.ANOTHER EDIT:It's been over 1 year since I purchased this camera and I have still not received the promised $10 rebate. I have sent a polite email the company once a month requesting the refund and receive no replies.ANOTHER UPDATEIt's been about 18 months. No rebate mailed and no responses to my emails.
Decent for the price
February 27, 2015
For the price, this camera is decent!I haven't had this camera long so I will update later. So far this is what I've found:Pros:-I had no problem setting it up and getting it to send still shots to my gmail email account.-It can be moved remotely, side to side, up and down to get different views.-It seems to be built solidly.Cons:-It doesn't seem to work with all email services.-At the 3rd (Normal) alarm setting, it seems to still be quite sensitive, sending emails with light changes and when the clouds move. At the 4th (Low) setting, it hardly pics up anything so I either end up with tons of email stills to go through or almost none at all.-The video/ picture quality isn't great but I didn't expect it to be at the price.-It's a good thing I bought this to record when wildlife come into our area (in the northern foothills of Colorado). By the time it senses something moving fast, like a car, and sends a still shot to email, the fast moving object has already passed. It should catch wildlife but I haven't seen any since I purchased this camera so only time will tell.-I've had to reboot the camera at least once a day since I got it or it stops working remotely.I haven't tried the night vision because I'm using this for an out-the-window view. I turned off the IR lights and the Power indicator LED so they don't reflect off the window. So far, this camera has captured some nice sunrises.
Nice Product in the Price Range
September 28, 2014
This is one of the alarm video record by this camera.Pros:1. Probably the best wireless IP Night Vision Camera you can find in this price range.2. It offers basically all the function you need from the Camera. snapshots, record video, position movable (remote), alarm, alarm record, Night vision, Android and Apple remoteCons:1 only IE support several functions such as snapshots and record. NOT chrome and Firefox or others. Even fro IE,it only supports IE 9 or lower versions on my computer2 the alarm function is not very accurate. Fault alarm happens even when at lowest sensitivity
I won the "working" prize!
August 7, 2014
First off, yes, the camera is pretty buggy, I actually had to update the firmware just so I could utilize the WIFI option, otherwise it would not connect. No problem though. Beyond the small little things here and there, such as translations and having to update the firmware, it works great. I have it setup to upload to an ftp server, which drops three jpgs at the time of the "alert". The alert interval can be set from 5 seconds, to 600 seconds or something along the lines of that. So basically, if it catches the wind blow the trees one second, then there is further movement, you will not see it unless it continues more than 5 seconds. It says "video recording" under alerts, but I have yet to see this work. I think this is a function of IE users. I use Chrome on a Mac, and use an Android for mobile. You can also setup email notifications, but that will fill up your inbox quick. I setup an FTP on my Unix box, and have it dump into a folder there, which gets cleaned out every few days automatically. I'm not sure if the sensitivity setting even does anything. I have tried them all, and see little to no difference. On the new 1.8.25 update, it removed the option to change the viewable FPS from a web browser. If your upload is poor, this might hurt. I'm not sure if it will automatically "detect" what FPS to run under or not, I am assuming not. There is no secure viewing, such as https... only http... not really a problem since I don't have ports forwarded, and have uPnP disabled on the device. No access from the outside. For the money I paid for this thing, it does exactly what I need it to do, perfectly. I have it in my window, which does not play nice with the night vision... only other note. But yes, if you get a "good" one from the warehouse, you are good to go. Update your firmware to 1.7.25 or 1.8.25 and you will have minimal issues. I did notice by default that it was on 50hz... obviously this is a foreign device, and we are the only ones who utilize 60hz. I'm wondering if that is why so many people have had failing cameras, but I am not a power guru. Overall, a good product if you know what you are doing. I'm sure if you need help from the company, it won't go well, from what I have read. I have had this product since June, and still works...

Great cameras. Worth the security risk if you know how to get around it.
April 24, 2017
I wrote a detailed review a few months ago outlining how I mitigated the security risks with this camera. Odd that it got pulled... anyway here is my review and solution again... I am re posting this because i feel anyone buying this camera needs to know what they are getting into.First lets say by trade I am in the building automation industry with an education in the IT industry so I have a better understanding then the average user on this stuff. Anyways.... The cameras themselves have very decent picture sharp in the daytime and decent at night although image degradation is noticeable at night but still good enough for my proposes. Now for the security issues. As other reviewers have stated these cameras like to talk to the internet to various IPs outside of the US on various ports. This is alarming because you are basically giving anyone who knows these IPs and ports access to your camera. Whether the intentions are malicious or not is not the issue its the fact you have a camera talking to complete strangers on the internet is the problem. The way I got around this was I installed a isolated network just for my IP cameras. I did this for 2 reasons. One was to reduce network traffic on my primary network and two was to not allow these cameras to have any ability to connect to the outside world. For my camera network I have a simple wired only gigabit router with 8 cameras on it currently. 6 of then are the camera i am reviewing. This network has no connection to the internet and only goes to my home automation server running Blue Iris via its own network port on the server. This server has 2 network ports one that can access the internet which I use for the blue iris mobile app and other monitoring software and the other port is only for the cameras. These 2 ports are not bridged so there is no way the cameras can get to the internet. Blue Iris is the only bridge between the 2 ports which lets me safely view the system remotely.Other notes:Cameras work great with blue iris and paired easily. One thing you have to do is set a password on the camera or it wont pair with blue iris. The only issue I had is the software which you have to use to config the IPs. I didn't want to install it but had to in the end otherwise I couldn't assign static IPs.Hopefully this will help others considering the camera but do not want the security risks.
but the picture looks pretty good in both day and night modes
January 6, 2017
For the money this camera is hard to beat. However, you do need to have some technical skills to get the most out of it. The video feed is only 720p, so don't expect too much, but the picture looks pretty good in both day and night modes.Mounting the camera was fairly easy, but the wire coming out has a large connector on the end (to accommodate power and Ethernet) so the hole drilled for the cable had to be over an inch in diameter (not sure exactly what size bit I ended up using...I made one too big and one too small and had to chip out a little extra). The camera can be configured to work on it's own without requiring an NVR (software or hardware video camera management) or cloud service, but because it has no on-board memory, notifications are limited to snap-shots sent via email. Motion detection works ok, but isn't as configurable as you might want. Viewing live video from a LAN is easy, but remote viewing would require opening a hole in the firewall. The camera must be configured using the included software (the web interface directly to the camera is basically just broken because of an ActiveX requirement which no modern version of Windows will allow to run). This included software has some issues including the installation of something called npf.dll (or npf64.dll) which is not uninstalled when the software itself is uninstalled and on my PC this DLL stopped other network tools (windump/winpcap) from functioning properly. However, the DLL can be manually removed (again, requiring some technical skills) and the software still works. It's easier to simply NOT actually install the included software, but rather copy it to your PC manually and run the CMS.exe manually (or with a shortcut) to avoid the whole npf.dll issue.Despite the issue mentioned above, the include NVR software works reasonably well for basic monitoring, but you're probably going to want to run something else like iSpy Connect, Blue Iris, iVideon, etc. if you want full featured NVR support.Regarding the strange network traffic to China mentioned by others: I'm a network engineer by trade and I took the time to examine the traffic in detail and despite quite a lot of activity, almost all of it can be accounted for and nothing seemed nefarious. Basically, a few things are happening: the camera uses a service to help you access your camera remotely by sending it's serial# to a few different servers which can provide client software with the ability to find a camera's ip# based on it's serial#. There's also entries for NTP (time) servers in China and the default SMTP (mail) server it also in China. Etc.However, it still bothers me that I'm advertising myself to a lot of unknown entities in another country and it's possible someone could find some way to abuse this limited information so I changed some settings to disable most of this traffic. Basically, instead of allowing the camera to get it's network settings from DHCP, I manually set the IP#, mask, etc and intentionally configured an invalid gateway address so the camera would not be able to communicate outside of it's local network (LAN).After buying a couple more of these cameras I found it easier to block the cameras at my router instead of in the camera settings themselves, but not all home or business routers make this easy to do. I'm not sure it's even necessary, but I'd rather be cautious given the choice.I've had one of these mounted outside on the eave of the house for several weeks and it's worked flawlessly with all of the software I've used with it. I'm currently using it with both iSpy Connect (free for LAN usage, recording motions, time lapse, etc) and simultaneously with iVideon (for remote viewing). Unfortunately the motion detection in iVideon is not configurable for area and sensitivity making it mostly useless except as a free remote viewer. I still have it record on motion so I can review those remotely, but it's only kept for 24 hours using the free service.I would highly recommend this camera to anyone with the time and experience needed to configure and get the most out of it.To get a 5-star rating this camera would need better software and a smaller connector on the cable for easier installation.

Please read this if your having trouble hooking up this device to a cloud website! So I've bought an ip cammera before and used port forwarding with port 80 and usually websites like [...] or cloudcam will usually pick up your camera very easily. However on this camera you will have to use port 554. The software it comes with is horrible and confusing. So for you newbies that just want a camera to stream/record please follow these steps.Make an account at [...]Go to your router which will usually be http://192.168.1.1 and enter your login credentials.Next you will need to go to your firewall and port forwarding setting. Find your camera IP and configure it to a manual port TCP 554.Save the changes so now your camera is set to 554 port.Go to the [...] website and enter the following in the camera address location.rtsp://admin:password@IPAdress:554/live0.264(i set up the password through the crappy CMS application it came with because it would not work on internet explorer).I was really going to return this camera cause i couldnt get it to connect but after some research and contacting tech support i got it going.Cons to this camera is it cam with a broken CD and does not work on internet explorer/firefox it tells you to install quicktime and you try but it doesnt work.Pros is its a cheap camera and ok quality!
Good picture quality, terrible configuration software
February 25, 2016
Setup is a pain on this, especially if you're not a Windows user. Ended up having to find the right combination of Windows in a virtual machine with IE old enough to run the unsigned ActiveX controls they depend on, but new enough for their software to support it. Very frustrating setup. It loses the date/time every time it loses power, and you need to use their ActiveX software to reset the clock. Has an open telnet listener, presumably with a static default password & no way to change it. Also setting the password through the ActiveX interface never actually took effect, so stuck with default password. For all that, I use this on a private network with VPN only access, so I'm not too worried about the passwords. The picture quality is shockingly good. It sounds like it has a physical IR filter that slides in & out of position when it switches between night & day mode. Good color reproduction during the day & excellent picture in complete darkness. Most cheap night capable cameras tend to have washed out color in daylight, but this one is good.Video quality falls apart a bit under high motion. It comes back eventually, but lots of tearing/artifacts if things are moving. For all of the setup ActiveX nightmare, accessing it from standard software on a phone or other device is easy. I've used VLC on Mac/Windows and OPlayer on iPhone to access it via rtsp://admin:PASSWORD@1.1.1.1/live0.264 <-- Where 1.1.1.1 is your IP, and PASSWORD doesn't actually seem to matter, no matter what you set it to. Video & sound come through well.We used this to keep an eye on our cats while away for the weekend. Nice little comfort to know the house hadn't burned down, and they were still running around the place.

I have been searching for an affordable IP camera that I can use for my residence. I have tried a number of cameras with varying degrees of success. I have purchased 5 of these Hosafe cameras and so far (it has only been a couple of weeks) they seem to work fine. For $40 they are a pretty good deal.Note these are NOT wifi cameras. You have to run an Ethernet Cat5 wire to them. Having tried several wifi cameras my experience has been to go with wired cameras if possible. I have found most of the Wifi cameras eventually develop signal reliability issues over a period of time, and are therefore not good enough for a serious application. Wifi cameras still require a cable to be run to them for power, so why the hell not get a less expensive WIRED camera and be done with it. You end up with a far more reliable signal; they are less expensive, and with a POE injector (search for this on Amazon: Huacam HCP05 Passive PoE Injector/Splitter DC Connector) you only run the Cat5 cable and you have both signal and power in the same twisted pair cable.I use Blue Iris software to manage and record my cameras. Blue Iris is EXCELLENT. I had some headaches with it but that was due to the horsepower of the old PC I initially ran it on (an old Asus laptop with limited RAM and CPU). I am now managing 20 cameras total and you need more horsepower (you need at least a quad core CPU) than what I was using. That said, it still works fine and records everything I need when the camera are triggered. The Blue Iris solution also allows you to get alerts and view you system on a smartphone from virtually anywhere. The Hosafe cameras thus far have been good. They produce good 1280x720 images, are easy to mount, and the configuration software, while poorly put together, works for what I need. I only use the included software to find the camera on my network then I use a browser to change the IP, user account/passwd and other configuration changes I need to make for my management software setup. I have had no config problems others have chronicled in these reviews of the Hosafe cameras. Some tips: when accessing it with a browser, IE works best since it uses ActiveX otherwise you have to install Quciktime yadda yadda....so keep it simple and just pinch your nose and run IE to do the initial setup. If you are using them with Blue Iris, at the camera config screen put in the IP address, port (80), user id and password and then click the "Inspect Now" button and Blue Iris will go out and interrogate the camera for its config details. Set the Image Format resolution to 1280x720 and you are done.PROS: Having had a bit of experience playing with numerous IP cams, I like this one due to its minimalist approach, solid construction, lack of wifi capability (yes I consider that an asset), great image quality, and above all, price tag.CONS: Only complaints would be so so documentation; it comes with nothing printed but there is quite a bit of info on their CD; including management software-specific configuration instructions, which is actually pretty nice. Once you install their software and locate the camera on your network, the rest is done with a browser and it is pretty straight forward. The name of the company (Hosafe) is goofy to say the least. I am almost embarrassed to hang the included Warning stickers on my window.UPDATE: The cameras are still working well but I have noticed a bit of a glitch. I am not sure if it is the cameras, the network or my Blue Iris software but every so often I get a line of pixelation across the image which triggers the software to send an alert. I am not seeing this with any of the other brands of cameras on my system so I suspect it is something to do with these cameras. The images on the cameras are still nice an crisp but occasionally it glitches with these pixelation lines.UPDATE 2 Apr 2017 - I have now been running these cameras for almost 2 years. To date I have purchased 15 of these cameras - not one failure so far. Very pleased with them and will continue to buy more. Have recommended them to many neighbours and friends and they are all pleased too. The glitch described in previous update turned out to be something else, not the camera.
For a cheap camera its very nice.

This camera was ver easy to install and setup. I use ZoneMinder for my server and it took this camera and ran. The video quality is great. The built in we server for this camera is not all that good, it uses QuickTime for its stream and constantly wants you to update. I also was unable to change the time stamp, but ZoneMinder has its own so no biggie. I do plan on purchasing more in the future. Very sturdy metallic construction, and I have it installed outdoors looking at the front door. Its been threw a hand full of storms with out skipping a beat. For the price you cant beat it.

Good Camera... but loses remote connectivity in 10-12 hours
October 20, 2016
I've had this camera for a few weeks, and so far, I like it. Honestly, it's okay... but not Great. I purchased the camera so that I could keep an eye on my pets at home while I'm away or at work. Setup was a breeze. I'm fairly technically minded, but everything was so straightforward, I really didn't need to be. I was able to download the Tenvis App on my phone, and everything seemed fine. Then, I noticed that after about 10 or 12 hours, the camera stops responding to my control commands when viewing remotely. It won't turn, pan, or anything. I visited the Tenvis website for technical support and learned that this has been a problem with this model for years! The technical support admins keep responding to the User complaints by saying that they are working to fix the problem... or telling them to update the firmware of the camera. But these posts are from 2013, and the camera still loses connectivity even with all the firmware updates. Obviously, there's a bigger problem that they aren't actually fixing. I learned that the only way to fix the problem is to unplug the camera when I get home, and plug it back in the next morning before I leave (essentially, resetting the system every day). This is a good fix for now, but if I ever have to leave for a few days, then I imagine I won't be able to control the camera after the first 12 hours.Lastly, the only way I can access the camera remotely is via the Tenvis New app. The Tenvis forum and the instruction book both say that you can set up "Port Forwarding" in order to access the camera via desktop computer remotely... but as far as I could see, they don't give any real instructions as to how to do it. I tried to lookup the instructions and watch YouTube tutorials from several other sources, and when I tried to apply what I learned, I nearly bricked my whole home network. Thankfully, I was able to reset the system to factory settings and re-install from scratch. I won't be trying "Port Forwarding" again any time soon, I can tell you that much.Anyway, like I said, I like this camera. It does what I want it to do (for 10 to 12 hours anyway) and was easy to setup. Would I buy it again? Probably not. I imagine that the higher-end brands are more expensive because they are a bit more "all-inclusive" than this one. But for the price I paid? It was definitely worth it.
~65 -70% satisfied

SO! 3 stars.....because its adequate and for the price its at minimum 65% -70% satisfactory. Would be 4 or 5 stars if the image quality was better.1) Video Quality: Ish not bad for the price but now that see it, I know that I want HD. You can make out faces to about 15ft, but dont expect to see a licence plate if you use it outside. face recognition is variable and like that of an an old camera phone. The color is not true to life and is offset. My brown couches look pink purple ish ....but more $$ would probably get a better image. Night vision is black and white but is well lit by the IR LEDs2) Wifi - I've had only one connectivity loss but it picked itself back up. I check it around 8 times per day.3) Setup - Was easy, instructions are easy to follow, but change your user name, dont stick with admin.....maybe im just a genius but I had no problems getting it set up.4) Motor function - Mine is quite, nothing bothersome. The dogs can hear it as i notice their ears perk up. Movement works well with the phone and laptop tho sometimes it will pan all the way in one direction if I hold down the button/screen button, for both my Android and wife's Iphone.Android app needs the same options available on the laptop software in my opinion. The IPHONE interface is nicer than the android version.Has a great range of motion, up, down, left and right.5) Speaker - works ...sound is not HI DEF but you get what you pay for (2 stars). you can talk to the pets. Dont be in a noisy area and if you are far away you may not hear be able to make out whats being said....but then again we have a large room with high ceilings so echo and acoustics are not ideal. You need to buy a separate microphone, plugs in a standard head phone jack. I have not tried this yet but ...ehhl6) Mounting - cord is long enough for setting it on a mantel with an outlet near by .Dont complain if the power cord isnt long enough. any system you intend to mount in high or out of reach places will be a pain.Would I buy it again?.............No but I would get the HD version. This review will be updated in the future if issues arise. If you want to check on the house to activate an alarm this can and will do. but I would suggest an HD / higher resolution model because that ultimately be what you want after using it for a day.
Great little product for the price. UPDATE

I got this to replace the Foscam 18910W. First of all let me say I am an idiot with such technology and the first time I have tried to connect a camera to my system was with the Foscam. After many hours and attempts at customer support, I could not get the Foscam to connect to my wireless network. While plugged in to the hardwire, it worked fine, but after digging into the literature I was trying to change all kinds of settings with my router because Foscam was so picky about just about everything. So I took a chance and got this low cost Tenvis. I just needed a camera to watch the new puppy when I was in the other room working. So need real need for Hi Def or even be able to access remotely, but I did need to put the camera where there was no hard wire connection. I will say I had the Tenvis up and running in 5 minutes, literally. For an idiot like me it was totally simple. Connect it, download the phone app and viola puppy cam is on the air. Now, I will say the Color is a bit wonky and the clarity was not quite as good as the above Foscam, so I gave 4 stars, but hey what good is a better picture if you cannot see it on the wireless. So for a so so picture it gets 4 stars instead of 5 but for the money and its just a puppy cam, its great. IR works great and you can turn off the IR when you use the software for the computer. But you cannot turn off IR from the phone, again a minor detail but I did read a review you could not turn off the IR.If I get another camera, it will be a Tenvis because it does what you want, it works right out of the box.UPDATE 4-13-15After working flawlessly for several weeks, the camera has just stopped working. Called customer support at Tenvis and had to leave a voicemail which has yet to be returned. I uninstalled everything and started from scratch and the camera cannot be found on the network. Will post an update as to how this is resolved. One star taken off pending resolution from customer service.
Well....

Wifi: could not connect neither through the iPhone app nor through the iPad app. I finally got it to work through the software on the enclosed DVD. I was starting to get worried because you must have a cable from the router to the camera before you get wifi set up. Afterwards you can disconnect the cable and then it will be wireless. The pan and tilt are available through the iPhone app but not the iPad app. Unfortunately, it is not functional. There is no way to stop the travel and therefore it pans or tilts to the maximum or sometimes it will stop at random. You can check the reviews on the app where it received only 1.5 stars out of 5. The problem with the pan and tilt are well known.Picture quality: At highest resolution, it's not too bad. Everything is recognizable, but of course you can not expect too much at this price point.Voice: although the voice feature does function, there is NO DUPLEX. That means you have to touch one button to talk and another to listen. There is also about a 2-3 second delay in between speaking and the reception at the other end.I had hoped to use this a entry door camera and the lack of two way voice is disappointing.I guess I will keep it. I still will be able to use it to see who's at the door without having to resort to the peephole.
Just a fun toy to play with, nothing serious.

I bought this on the "today's deal" for the Tenvis JPT3815W around 9/20/2014. I've never had a wireless IP cam before so I have nothing much to compare with. I hope this might help some people with setup. I had much higher expectation for what it really is. The advantage is that I can remote control the camera and view it while I am away from home as a hall monitor. It is what it states as an IP cam. The disadvantage is that I've been unable to test the capture image with motion sensor and sensitivity or recording. So pretty much, this is a nice IP baby cam. I took a star off because of all the trouble that I had to get it to work which involved web searches and the disk that it provided didn't help with the setup. Another star because of the security motion sensor image capture feature doesn't work which down grade this to a IP baby cam.The hardware part is permanent which what to got is what you got. So it is what you paid for it's light weight plastic and it probably won't hold in outdoor conditions which the plastic might become brittle over time due to sun exposure and it's not waterproof. The video quality is average and pretty much look exactly like the picture shown in the product overview which is 640×480(VGA) with no optical zoom feature. The software part can change with update by the manufacturer so this part is only for the latest software that I have. The setup is more involved and can definitely be improved on. The CD that came with the package didn’t really provide much help or simply put it didn't work. I went on Google to find instruction on how to set it up which involved going to their website and download the IP camera wizard because the one on the CD didn’t work. After setting up on the PC with both the PC and camera connected to the router by wire to get the basic function to work but not the WiFi (Tenvis needs to fix). Then in the browser which was opened from the camera wizard, there’s the setup tab from the browser which WiFi was able to be connected and finally worked over WiFi. The other issue is that only internet explorer is supported by Tenvis so with some of the feature that they have it won't work which is a annoyance for me.I also downloaded the app “New Tevnis” for my android phone to setup login on my phone. There are several issues with the app. During setup, I cannot manually enter in the IP address and port or the app will crash. The only way for it to work is to scan the barcode on the back of the unit. Soon I realized that there are two passwords, one is for the app and the other for the camera. I made the mistake of changing the password for the app. The issue with that is when you change the password it had to send it to your email address for you to confirm the change of password but 7/10 times I didn't get a confirmation email and the one time that I did, I got a fail to update message. So I was lock out of the app which I contacted support via email. They eventually had to delete the camera from my previous login app and I had to setup a new account with a different email. The other major problem with the app is that it lacks the all the special features that are allowed on the explorer, i.e. patrol option, IR on/off, pre-settings, and etc.
Pretty decent for the price but some issues
January 28, 2014
In general I like the camera but it has a few issues I have not been able to resolve. One is color rendition. It is not consistent. I have a red barn but when I view it in the camera it appears bright green. My blue recycle bins appear pale red. At other times the colors are correct. There seem to be no settings to adjust or otherwise correct for improper color display on screen. The FLIP function does not always stay set. I have to mount camera upside down to use it from the ceiling of my front porch so rely on the FLIP to turn image right side up. Any change to any other setting seems to reset the flipped image so I see everything upside down again. When using the Android app there is no option to change this so unless I am home where I can use the web interface, I have no way to turn the image right side up if it "forgets" it setting. ( I have to turn the phone upside down and the PTZ arrows are backwards in this configuration )There is an alarm option but after many hundreds of false positive emails with images attached I realized that it will trigger an event if a gnat flies past at 20 feet! Makes the alarm function useless as it is always triggering even with nothing moving. Also the function for an audible alarm does not seem to work. I turn in on in the web interface but nothing happens.Bottom line, the price is good and it works pretty well with decent ( not HD ) resolution. If you don't mind strange colors and if you can use it right side up you will probably be happy with this camera.

Decent product. You get what you pay for.

One camera right out of the box has lines through the middle of the image. Playing around with the cable coming out of the camera cleared up the image, but that leads me to believe it's a possible assembly problem. When it works the image is great but it also occasionally times out and freezes the picture. PoE connection is a plus which makes the cable run easy.
Fantastic camera; sneaky, sketchy firmware.
May 12, 2016
Was looking for a cheap IP Camera to keep an eye on my front porch, and this camera fit the bill. It's got a nice clear picture, and the night vision is really impressive; no complaints about its camera-quality. Because it's ONVIF compatible, most any IP Camera software I tried was able to automatically find this camera and manage most of the settings. The firmware leaves a bit to be desired though: In addition to having an always-on telnet port (with an unknown, but probably static username and password), the camera makes several connections to unknown IPs in China whenever it's on. I've made attempts to block its ability to connect to them, but then after about 24 hours or so the camera will just quick working unless I restart it. Tried my best to crack the password, but couldn't manage to get into my own camera to see if I could keep it from calling home.Given the opportunity I would spend a little bit more on a camera that didn't do sketchy things without telling me.
Works OK. Like most IP Cams it could use a firmware update.
January 11, 2016
Was able to get it to work. Wanted to use this on a private network not connected to the internet. The NVSIP iPhone app asks for you to log in to use the app and you can't log in or continue to use the app if you are not connected to the internet. Using as a guest seems to work okay when not connected to the internet.
Want a $35 brick? Push this button...
December 24, 2015
Yes, I see all the 5 star reviews here. Are you kidding me? Usually when you see a one star rating it makes you think that they must have no idea what they are doing to set it up. I know what I am doing, I have set up many IP cameras with relatively few issues. First, the software, what a joke! I could go on about how bad the whole thing is but I will cut right to why it is one star. First they don't have zero stars! I have done countless re flashing of firmware on countless devices and never lost anything. That was until this came along. I now have a $35 brick. I had so many issues with the camera I decided to do an upgrade from a button in the software. All went well, it finished and rebooted...sort of. After the reboot not only did it never come back, it killed it. How do I know that? The lights on the router no longer light up when you plug it into the router. It is completely dead as far as a network device. There is absolutely no reset button on thiscamera, nothing...but toast. I can't believe they allow such junk to be sold on Amazon.UPDATE: 1/3/16. Support tried to help with fix. That was not going to work as I described that the unit was dead after the upgrade. They did send me a replacement unit right away. So I went to 3 stars now as they did their best and did a satisfactory job of making good on this. The picture is pretty good for a $35 unit. Works pretty good on Blue Iris software.
Good Picture, Bad Software
July 24, 2015
1 WEEK UPDATE!!! I wish I could give this camera two reviews. I would give it 1 star for a single camera, but 5 for use with software such as Milestone.CONSUMERS: I can't really recommend this to someone that will only have 1 or 2 cameras. It would require a dedicated computer due to the software limitations. There are much better options for not that much more money. If you are savvy, then try some NVR software and read the rest of the review.PROFESSIONALS: I hooked this up to Milestone and it immediately found it, recognized the protocol/driver, and was ready to configure and record in minutes. The build quality seems to be good. I obviously need a bit more time to tell if it would hold up outdoors, if I even install it outdoors. I would certainly recommend this for interior installation.----------Original Review-------------The camera arrived today and I connected it all. I have setup a few professional and home DVR systems, so this isn't my first rodeo. I wanted try out this very inexpensive camera.I first found the IP and went to the web address. You are forced to use quicktime, there is simply no other option, even to just get a still image. This is strike #1.Furthermore, even after installing quicktime and the active x plug-in, the webpage continues to request that I install quicktime with a pop-up. This happens even as the video loads behind the pop-up!!! But, you can't use the webpage until you close the pop-up, and guess what, no matter how you close the pop-up, it reloads the page sending you back to the login screen! So the entire web app is nearly useless (you can see the video if you don't mind just letting the pop-up sit there). There isn't really a work around to this as I inspected the u.js file and found that it is coded to reload the page if that pop-up is encountered. This is strike #2.In addition, the webpage is continually asking to install an active x plugin, which I did (after running IE in admin mode since it is an untrusted publisher). I also installed it from the CD, but it still asks every time. This is strike #3, web viewer is OUT!!!On to the installed software...The "CMS" software (Camera Management Software?) is installed it found the camera quickly and brought up a very sharp video! Woo Hoo! Some success! But honestly, the CMS software is pretty crap too. While running it goes full screen and the window controls (minimize, close) are in the bottom right. It disables alt-tab so you can't switch windows AND THE WINDOWS BUTTON KEY!!!!! Alt-tab... strike #1. Windows Key... strike #2.I will continue to test this camera and update you on the status if anything major changes. A few of these cameras + an old Windows PC might make a usable camera system, but at this time I am not sure it would be worth it.Hey, HOSAFE!!! Remove the reload action on u.js at lines 217-219! Would have probably earned you another star if you did that and at least made the webpage usable.
I was attempting to get it to work with a Super Mini NVR
July 23, 2015
Description stated ONVIF compliant - after emailing HOSAFE, they said it is NOT fully compliant and motion detection would not work with 3rd party NVRs, only theirs. I was attempting to get it to work with a Super Mini NVR.I have tried with Blue Iris - which did work, but Blue Iris handles motion detection itself. If you are looking at using this camera with another NVR besides HOSAFE's and your NVR relies on the camera for motion detection, it will not work. The picture itself was quite good and depending on how you intend to use it, it may work.

Constantly loses wifi signal
September 2, 2015
I perviously had given this 5 stars because they (I have 9 set up) worked well for about the first 3 weeks, sent in my $15 rebate card for the 5 star review..I never received any rebate $$back. After a month of being connected the camera constantly lose connection to wifi or disapear from the app and the desktop program. Very disappointed in these cameras, cost me nothing but constant work to reconfigue them every month since Ive gotten them. No, its not my wifi or my router or any other signal disturbances. I have a high end wifi router with Dead spot terminators placed all over the house. I know exactly what Im doing as far as setting this simple camera up. They can literally be sitting on top of my wifi router and not find the signal it was once connected to even with an Ethernet cable. If you forget your camera password(not the account password) there is no way to retrieve it, you must completely reset that camera, blow away any settings you configured to it and start all over again. Make sure not to change your email password that you have connected to the camera app or desktop, you will never get back in to the cameras again. Dont waste your money. These stink.
Wireless Finally Stopped Working, Not So Great For Laptops
March 7, 2015
Since my initial review the wireless feature has stopped working and I now can only run it with wired ethernet which really defeats the whole purpose of buying it in the first placeNo amount of reset, reboot or anything else will get the wireless feature working. The camera itself is pretty good, decent picture quality and of decent construction for the price I paid for it but the installation instructions are extremely poor having been translated apparently from Chinese into very poor English with almost unintelligible pronunciation and meanings. The camera is absolutely simple to configure with your IPhone or IPad (using apps that are easy to download) but I have given up trying to configure it on my laptop so that I can view it externally (although I have no problem on the same LAN). Pan and tilt are great features for the price. It is simply so much incomprehensible information that it has become extremely frustrating and not worth the effort (and I am reasonably tech savvy with an engineering background).Even their online help desk is of no use since you have the same people trying to ask questions by email and supply instructions that do not make any sense. Check out all the online reviews by searching Google and you can see that there are many other people having the same problems. On the plus side I can see the camera using both the IPhone and IPad from anywhere which is pretty good for a $40 camera system and I am at least happy about that. When we are away its simple to zap up the app and see the inside of our house to ensure us that all is OK.I’m returning mine and do not recommend it. Way too much hassle!
This review was not paid for by TENVIS, but others were.
September 6, 2014
This camera works OK, especially considering its price. However, it does drop wifi pretty often, and it's not as easy to set up as some are saying. In fact, you should not believe any of the positive reviews on this object because TENVIS offers you $15 in exchange for your positive review. When you take delivery of the camera, there is a card offering a $15 "rebate" in exchange for a positive review. This $15 "rebate" lowers the price to around $32, which is an amazing price for a camera of this kind.Buy a camera that has reviews you can trust, not reviews that are probably bought and paid for by the manufacturer (not Amazon. I don't think Amazon even realizes that this is going on).
Only one reason for the good reviews. Read here before you buy.
August 29, 2014
Total waste of money. It constantly reboots and never stays online for more than 20 minutes. The built in dynamic DNS (ability to map it to a domain name so you can connect to it remotely) doesn't work for more than a few minutes at a time even though I have a static IP address. The night vision on it is almost useless. Trying to control the camera pan/tilt function via Chrome or IE is pointless and VERY buggy.Keep in mind the manufacturer is bribing everyone who makes a purchase of this device with a $15 check if they leave a good response. That explains why people agree to like this device. It's cheap and worthless compared with others available. I'm sending mine back and Tenvis can keep their worthless bribe money. Not sure why Amazon allows this type of behavior.Having said that, if you still intend to buy this piece of cheap garbage, the setup is very easy and the wifi config doesn't work from the GUI but does work properly from the web browser as long as you set it up wired first. Don't waste your time or money on this one.
It works!...but so what?
July 8, 2014
Where to begin. This little camera does tilt and pan correctly. It can connect to a WiFi network. It can be used on an ethernet network. Unfortunately, that's about all it really has going for it. At a resolution of 640x480 the images are grainy and slightly blurry. The colors are completely wrong (a dark green shirt looks light blue...my normally rosy flesh tone looks like bluish paper). While the camera supposedly supports sound there is no support in the software for it making it a non-feature. Faces are recognizable as long as you already know the person. Picture cheap store security cameras from the 1980's...that's the quality you get with this. It doesn't stop with just poor picture quality though. The WiFi connectivity is a joke. With WPA2-Personal it can't connect. With WEP it can't connect. I had to downgrade all the way down to NO SECURITY to allow this camera to connect even though it says it works with secured networks. The software doesn't give any clues as to why the WiFi isn't working. It implies you've entered some of your WiFi settings incorrectly and tells you to do it again. The only reason I could figure out what was going wrong is that I troubleshoot computer hardware for a living and knew what to try. The night vision isn't bad but the graininess shows up a lot more. While you can watch the person in the dark room you probably can't tell what they're doing with their hands. I will say they did the internet accessibility features pretty well though. As soon as I could view the image on a local computer I could also view it on my cell phone and from a computer several states away. Unfortunately...with the poor quality...why bother? If you want a camera you can use to make sure your kids made it home or that your dog hasn't escaped out of the house this will set your mind at ease. If you want a camera that takes anywhere near decent quality pictures...this is NOT the camera you want.
No Wireless On Securifi Almond / Shoddy Image Capturing
July 2, 2014
To get right to the point, if you have a Securifi Almond WiFi router, don't expect the wireless function to work. Period. I tried everything. I went to forums, Tenvis' website, and nothing. I've never had an issue with my Securifi Almond before, and neither have any of the countless devices, myself, or others have connected it to, so I blame the Tenvis Camera. So, I'm using it with an Ethernet connected... reluctantly.Installation was easy. It comes with an installation CD, and the Tenvis user interface that's provided is comfortable. You can pan virtually in any direction, even swivel 360°.The panning option doesn't seem to function from an Android based Phone or Tablet. Best bet is to install Can Viewer Lite, or something similar. We come to the image capture mode. Strangely, the image that saves isn't always the image you see. For example, I hit the image capture button to get a shot of a truck passing by. When the image opened in a new tab, I saw my successful capture of the aforementioned truck. After saving, and downloading it, and viewing it... The image that saved was an empty road! I thought I was losing my mind, so after various attempts, and getting the same result, I've come to the conclusion that the image capture mode is useless. The capture image that is shown on your screen will not be the same image, if you save it.At least that's my experience with it.Bad luck? Maybe I have a lemon. But kudos to Tenvis for making a product that has obliterated my confidence in their brand.

It has a great picture both day and night
August 2, 2017
I wanted this camera to work so badly. It has a great picture both day and night, and a quality price point. I just couldn't get it to stay reliably connected to blue iris. I tried 6 different routers, bought new cat 6 cables, and placed the camera around many different spots in my house. Nothing I tried for a month could get the camera to stay connected for more than a day or two. And then worse after losing the connection the camera had to be power cycled each time. Maybe I got a lemon... IDK. I would happy to work with the company to try out more. I want it to work because of the ability to hard wire it, good picture both day and night, quality casing, blue iris connectivity, and a great price point. I own around 30 security cameras. I would like to be able to buy this brand in the future.
Great Cameras when they work, work with zoneminder, they are crap when they mess up. Infrared LEDs burn out after several months
February 16, 2017
*7 Month UpdateAfter 7 months of use, majority of the infrared leds on the cameras have burned out and are useless for night time, again, manufacture is worthless like before. Don't recommend these at all, I went bought some actual 1080p bullet cams of aliexpress for cheaper then these and they are a lot better.--------Cameras work great when they work. I bought 4, 1 always has glitches in the stream as a few previous reviewers have, causing false alarms all the time and I have to power cycle this 1 all the time or it is useless. Hosafe support is non-existent as I have sent at least 4 e-mails asking for help or replacement.
Not worth the money. A lot better Solutions around!

2 Cams that worked for a week oir so and then went bad.... Bad.. I had multiple issues with the cameras.. Good luck unless you have networking as a background you will not get to them unless you leave your internet open or have a closed network and then good luck trying to configure them.. I ran into many issues.. They would after a time just not respond. Lights would blink etc... I tried different things.. So you know CMS 1.2.3.4. is just a name please do not try using from a different source as a CMS they are different. Its like saying CMS to OSX etc its a completely different thing. The control works but I did not trust it I blocked every port I had after my network got flooded with requests from areas not around me...Anyway I sent 2 back and did not want to deal with them... and by the way both died and would not work after a week or so..
$35 camera.....
June 2, 2016
I have purchased 5 of these. The good- The Video is excellent when its functional. The Bad- The NVSIP app, the CMS client software. The cameras are often unreachable for no apparent reason, one camera actually flipped its image 180 degrees so now everything is upside down. The on screen clock displays resets very often, The cameras are inexpensive, so you get what you pay for. Attempted numerous times to contact seller.
Misleading

Device is not actually power over Ethernet, it simply comes with a splitter that fakes the job but requires use of the splitter, making the outdoor/waterproof capabilities more questionable and requiring multiple power adapters despite having a real POE setup.
but annoying when camera does not connect via IP
January 3, 2016
Works, but sporadically. I have two and one I can not seem to connect to. I think it may be an issue with the new window OS 8 and 10. If they were consistant I would give 5 stars for the price. GUI is simple, but annoying when camera does not connect via IP.

died within a year of being hooked up
January 4, 2017
I bought one of these along with two TenVIs JPT3815W in white. I took my time hooking these up. When I finally got around to connecting them it was pretty painless and they seemed to work decently althought the resolution probably wouldnt be admissable evidence due to how low it was. so it worked fine for about 9 months and then one died. the other one always had an on and off flicker every once in a while but I just dealt with it. then the 2nd one died within a month of the 1st one! wouldnt connect wirelessly or wired. So I went and purchased ones from Reolink that were a little over $100 each and they feel much better...heavier and made out of metal. Got the metal ones in and installed it and then my 3rd Tenvis out of the original 3 decided to take a dive as well. So all within a year of being hooked up all 3 Tenvis died on me. Cant recommend something if it doesnt even last a year.
ONLY LASTED 9 MONTHS (2 out of 3)
May 11, 2016
I had bought 3 of these for a large detached building, Set up was not as bad as many say, I had no trouble getting them all connected and working, motion sensors and uploads worked great, picture quality was just so so, (a bit fuzzy) but as good as one can expect from the low res...and color was way way off on all three (in good light), night vision worked very well, i was actually quite impressed with the night vision quality...the bad, 2 of the three have just up and died after about 9 months of very light useage, i've done all the usual reset options and all they just simply dont start up, all 3 are in a temperature controlled building. the two that quit were working at night, then the next day they just wouldn't show up on the app. after checking them out its pretty obvious they have just not held up well at all...
First one star review
March 14, 2015
My first one star review. It's hard to figure out where to start. Upon receiving the camera, which I was excited about, I set it up fairly quickly. It was pretty simple to set up to my wifi. The easy set up was the only easy and good thing about this camera. My first problem was trying to set up my email to receive alerts. After many failed attempts and searching the web I decided to contact Tenvis. They do responded to your email in decent time, however, there responses are worthless. There is not a lot of guidance or help. Any information they send you you can find on there website after a bit of searching. After trying to connect my email again after using their suggestions, I still received an error message, and my email still remained unconnected. So motion alerts were not going to happen for me. The second and biggest issue was that the app does not work. You get many network errors and that's with perfect connection to wifi or with LTE. But it will work while you are at home. And the panning does not work. You move it in a particular direction and it will go all the way around, there is no stopping it. So, I tried numerous other apps which also failed to connect. One app worked wonderfully, while at home. Once you leave home it would cut out and have major lag on wifi and LTE. Making the camera useless. Please save your time, frustrations, and money. And believe me I got frustrated trying everything to set it up. Do not buy this camera. I don't understand how people are giving it good reviews. Being that I am easily pleased, it takes A LOT for me to give a one star review. Good luck.
TENVIS BUYS REVIEWS! DON'T BE FOOLED!!!
October 10, 2014
You're probably considering this product because it has a high rating... well don't be fooled. TENVIS gives a $15 rebate if you leave a 5 star review. That's great if the product, by chance, works for you. The problem is that those for who the product doesn't work have less incentive to write a review, so the rating is biased. So you should really knock off one or two stars when comparing this product against others. And you should not put much weight on reading the 5 star reviews either!A major flaw in this product is its incompatibility with many modern wi-fi systems. Not only does it not work with 802.11n, but it will also not work with any mode that includes 802.11n (e.g. "802.11g or 802.11n" mode). Just about everyone these days would have an 802.11n wifi because it's faster and has a much greater wifi range. But to use this TENVIS product you have to dumb down your wifi to 802.11g or lower. Even then you might have to spend hours trying different wifi security settings till you find a set that (hopefully) works! You just need to read the low rated reviews or online forums to find what I'm saying to be true.Don't waste your time. Don't waste your money. Don't buy TENVIS.
the camera worked just fine. However
September 23, 2014
Upon opening the box, the first thing I noticed was the bribe (yes, the unethical bribe of the distributor offering $15 for positive reviews). After placing the paperwork aside, I removed the camera from the packaging. One of the lenses was missing from one of the IR emitters. I figured I'd try to use it anyway. While connected via Ethernet, the camera worked just fine. However, attempting to connect to a 5Ghz WiFi network was impossible. I reconfigured the router I was using to test to accept 2.4Ghz connections, and while the camera claimed to connect, the router never saw it. Once I'd disconnect from the wired connection, it would not be visible on the network at all. While connected on the wired connection, and attempting to force the camera to connect, it would claim connection to the WiFi, without actually doing so.Additionally, I have an old camera with the same resolution that this claims to have, but is far better quality image. This product was a waste of my time, and if not for Amazon's excellent return policy, would have been a waste of my money as well.
Manufacturer bribes reviewers
February 15, 2014
By leaving less than a 5-star review, I'm costing myself $15. The manufacturer offers a $15 "rebate" (read: bribe) for 5-star reviews of this product. The camera is decent, and I'm happy with my purchase. I would give 4 stars, as it's not perfect (requires internet explorer to do video recording), but the practice of bribery to skew reviews that shoppers rely upon to make informed purchases is low.

Very poor tech support
June 16, 2017
Camera has a nice metal body and when the camera worked had a great picture. Problem is that it worked for one day on Blue Iris then lost connect. Tried to use the included software to located the camera, no luck. Emailed tech support and they said to re enter the password, still nothing. Emailed again, tech wrote back that I should read the instructions, (which I did, 3 times) no reply from tech except for "Try to figure it out". No help from them so boxed them up, back to Amazon and bought FDT cameras and works right out of the box for Blue Iris.
Didn't last long. No customer service
March 4, 2017
I really wanted these to work. After thoroughly evaluating several cameras in this price range, I purchased 9 of these in both bullet and dome versions to build out a security system. After 2 months, 4 of the 9 have failed, one is completely dead and the others randomly revert back to factory settings. I emailed the seller to see if they had a fix and have not received a response after one week.
Crashes often causing missed events. Does not do DST or in-camera rotation.
September 19, 2016
Update 1/20/2017 ******************I dropped this from 3 stars to 1. I have two of the 2MP cameras and 1 720p HOSAFE cameras. All three cameras reboot regularly, usually 5 to 15 times a day. This is a problem because it takes the cameras about a minute to return to presenting a picture. I didn't notice it at first, since you only see the reboot if you're watching or have your system set up to alert you when signal is lost. I have missed people coming up to my front door because the camera is in the middle of a reboot. For a security camera this is unacceptable. One crashes so hard it occasionally resets to default configuration with the default name and chinese timezone. The pool pic below is after a hard reboot and the camera name is reset to HD IPC.***************************************Update - Nov. 11, 2016.I dropped this one star because of a concern with the stability of the camera web interface. The video continues fine, but the management interface doesn't work.As I mentioned below the unit does not do Daylight Savings, so when I had to log in and change the timezone back, I realized I couldn't get it to respond to the web interface. This happens with some frequency, I noticed when installing the unit if it went more than a week, the web interface crashed requiring a reboot. Since mine is fairly inaccessible, I have to throw the breaker off then on to get back into the web interface. It makes a tedious job a little worse. At the time of purchase the $35 price point was fantastic. Now there are several 4MP cameras available for $75, and you can get a great Hikvision DS-2CD2042WD-I 4MP Full HD WDR IR Bullet Network Camera US English Retail Version Home Security IP CCTV 4mm for just over $100. If you can afford it, take the jump to 4mp Hikvision. Rock Solid, does DST, Rotate and wide dynamic range all in sofware.--------------------------------------------Pros:This camera has a good quality picture and includes an IR cut filter for great color reproduction. The base is aluminum and well made.Cons:The web browser software doesn't always work for configuration. You can click on the device configuration and nothing happens. The included software works fine for configuration, but it's a little more of a pain to deal with. This is important because...The unit does not do daylight savings time. It will pull time from a NTP server, but will be an hour off during DST. I compensate by adjusting the timezone twice a year. This is important for users of BlueIris - since you can save a lot of CPU by having the camera insert the time onto the image, BlueIris will write the stream directly to disk. If the time is off by an hour, that presents a problem with the saved video/images since the time/date is embedded. My last complaint is somewhat minor - it does not do an in-camera 90 degree roation. That would make it ideal for monitoring a doorway or hall.Bottom line - decent camera but for this price I would look at the 2mp version. If you can afford it, a 4mp camera from a company that supports DST and Rotation will cost about double. I have a single Hikvision that cost about triple this camera, but is easier to configure and does DST and rotation. The configuration difficulty wouldn't be a big deal if you didn't have to do it twice a year.I've attached a picture of the camera pointing at my front door for your comparison. You can see how a 90 degree rotation would be helpful.
Camera communicates to servers on the Internet without permission. Security risk, beware.
May 7, 2016
I have purchased two of these. The first one died within weeks. I contacted the vendor through Amazon who said they would send me a refurbished one. They never did. The camera has a good picture, night and day. The most important thing that has caused me to write the review is because while going through my network firewall logs today (I am a Network Engineer), I discovered that this device is constantly communicating with many IP addresses on the Internet using high ports (not HTTP, HTTPS or NTP) without permission. When looking up the IPs, they are not registered in the USA (Turkey and China mostly). I consider this a huge security risk, that none of my other IP cameras have. If you own this camera, and know how to check your outgoing logs I would do so. I have unplugged mine and will be taking it down to be replaced with a camera from a more trustworthy manufacturer.
Great hardware, terrible software even for PC
July 23, 2015
Great hardware, terrible software even for PC. Mac users stay away from this camera. I tried and keep trying to make it works with every single MAC software for IP cameras and can't do it. I connect with parallels WIN 7 and after several hours, finally can see the CAM but...you can't change the DATE for the CAM easily. To access the nvsip site for remote viewing needs explorer 10x 32bit and only for IE browser, but that's not all, the site ask you to run or download a suspicious plug in?? I took a risk and try to instal but never happens, get involve in a loop installation in few word you can't do nothing. The support is a copy paste from manual. The iphone app freezes every second, not reliable and you can't retrieve your password no matter what. It's a shame because the CAM is well constructed and feels solid and has good colors day and night.
Good Camera for the price. Included mobile app needs help.
May 6, 2015
60 days later update:Can not get image to stream.I can now only see a snap shot of 5 seconds of video from the built in utility before image freeze and I have to reboot camera.Even the time counter stops counting.Unless this resolves I will never buy again. But need to replace this one and buy 3 more.Stars go from 4 to 1.When you go into the mobile app to view the camera you have to find the camera every time. It does not just save it.I think I will download bluiris. I hear good things about that software.Other bad thing is the cable that comes hanging off the camera, its like 1.25 inches wide! If you want to flush mount this to the wall you have to bore out a huge hole! no moving that camera with out patching a huge hole. If they could have made the wire easy to disconnect and reconnect to feed through a hole the size of the wire it would have been 5 stars as the images at day and night are nice! The pic I loaded is a screenshot on my phone when the camera is set to LD (Low Definition).
