As a photographer, I use this all the time!
July 25, 2015
As far as I am concerened, for the price, this light box cannot be beat! We use it weekly, and while we have had to replace bulbs, we haven't had any issues at all. I use it for product photography, and my husband, who isn't a photographer, uses it each week to photograph his fishing ties that he makes. I love how the wohle thing folds up neatly in a little black package and takes up almost no room in my closet or bag... I have attached an example of the photos you can get from the box.
An Excellent Photo Kit
September 14, 2014
This Table Top Photo Studio is a Great Kit. I've used it extensively and have taken numerous picture's of a verity of items that I have posted on many web sites for sale. The Kit has made the item's I have posted just beautiful. With the verity of back drops that come with the kit to enhance the item's picture's being sold is a defined benefit. The Kit is sturdy and very easy to use. It has done wonders for me. With being able to position the lights the way you want them and the sturdy camera stand is a defined benefit. I would recommend this Kit to anyone looking to enhance any items you may desire to take picture's of.
It's all about the results

Now I am not a professional photographer in that I do not take pictures for profit. I did need to take some still photos of my products for my web site. I looked at several of these cubes for still work and decided on this one because of the overall dimensions. The package came very quickly, which is an Amazon trick they play to keep my business. It works too.The set up was simple. The various color backgrounds got my mind started thinking about props to better illustrate my wares and i had a creative epiphany. I got all of the photographs I wanted and was able to control and us e features on my camera that I didn't even know I had. I used a tripod and completely eliminated any camera movement and the photos came out stunning.Wonderful results and when all was said and done, It folded up with the backgrounds and auxiliary lighting all in one thin package and I slipped it behind a piece of furniture and no-one will ever know it is there.Great Product from a great company!
Light Tent Kit? Such Quality at Such a Low Price!
February 15, 2013
You know what? When I bought this Table Top Photo Studio Tent Kit, I honestly expected to get a bunch of junk in the mail.I really did. The price was so darn low, and the collection of items in the Kit being complete and supposedly all new, seemed to me to be too good to be true. And my experience is that too good to be true equals AWFUL!But the Tabletop Photo Studio Tent Kit by CowboyStudio arrived and blew me AWAY! It's all professional grade equipment, sturdy, and most importantly: everything is standard. The little tripods the lights come on works perfectly well with other standard light equipment and rigs.I have used this Kit probably a few times every month ever since I got it, and I will keep on using it for the foreseeable future. It comes with two good little lights, and I like using them, though I do understand that these two lights alone aren't enough for a photo shoot.Old rule of thumb was to have five different light sources, and you can get creative with natural light along with the two light set that's included here, but seriously: invest in more lighting equipment if you can.But go ahead and buy this Kit today, as you're not going to find anywhere else a better light tent (with lighting equipment included!) of such high quality at such a steal of a price.Five Stars - All the way!
Portable, Practical & Perfect
June 2, 2010
After doing my usual exhaustive research i settled on the CowboyStudio Table Top Photo Studio Light Tent Kit.It's got everything you need, lights, walls, backdrop, all in one convenient and very low profile carry case.It folds up for easy storage, takes up very little space. The kit is light weight and even has a carry handle. The most important factor in my purchase was the price, much lower than similar kits. And this is the only kitthat came with the lights in a handy pouch attached to the folding light box. Truly all-in-one.After using it i'm quite pleased with the photographic results. You can use the provided backdrops or your owneasily. Light is sufficient for web quality pix. Excellent way to professionalize your eBay, Etsy, or otherwebsite presence.
Buy it ...you will not regret it!!!!!
May 19, 2010
I bought this product with much hesitation. Since a lot of the reviews with some similar items were awful and some of the images provided were not all that convincing I still decided to give it a try. It arrived and I rip it opened because I could not wait to test it. And it is great!!!!! I definitely recommend it if you do product shots. I've included a couple of pics of (wedding salt shakers and dominoes) so you can see the quality!

Be sure to add the adapter so the phone doesn't pop out.
April 27, 2016
Updated 5/25/2016:Thanks to Robert Rogers, who commented on a question I posted, I learned the little plastic adapter that came unidentified in a cellophane bag has a purpose - but there's no diagram or clue to how to use it. Once you install this plastic piece over the metal part correctly, the adapter grips your phone tightly into the frame. See here for mine and Robert's comments: https://www.amazon.com/small-black-piece-packed-adapter/forum/Fx3HD36PBWLXUTH/Tx365NGJDH44RJX/1/ref=cm_cd_et_voterdr?_encoding=UTF8&asin=B00OS9E6AO&cdMSG=addedToThread&cdShowComment=Mx1B2KASIY0L0EC&cdSort=oldest&newContentID=Mx2UEKUBGWY73TH&newContentNum=1#Mx1B2KASIY0L0ECOriginal review: I'm satisfied with this item and would give it 5 stars except I have difficulty seating my iPhone 6 securely in the clip. My case is a small, gel-like slip-on, thin and somewhat rounded on the edges. It requires extra attention to getting it seated. I feel pretty sure the case is causing the problem, but that's what I have to work with. Would be nice if the clip grabbed better for gel cases.
Top Notch Adapter
October 20, 2015
I ordered this cell phone tripod adapter after ordering the Amazon Basics Tripod for my camera. I wanted a way to stabilize my phone for recording YouTube and Periscope videos. If you have a tripod you already know how vital stabilization is in getting a nice clear shot. This cell phone adapter is top notch! I have no worries putting my $700 phone in it, because it’s well built and holds the phone nice and snug.It screws on and off of the tripod quick release plate easily. It stretches open wide, but then secures back in snuggly with absolutely no give.I did find it’s the same piece of equipment as the top of a selfie stick, which I already had at home. I must say though, while it looks just the same, this particular adapter feels like it is a better quality and stretches out nicer.
Something that's actually worth the money!
September 22, 2015
This thing is great! I use it with my iPhone 6 with a case. It fits just fine with room to spare and is really strong. I attached it to my monopod and gave it some serious shaking (with my hand in place to catch the phone) and it didn't even budge. Can't beat the price, and I would be happy to pay double.
Great for iPhone 6 and 6+
December 18, 2014
Spring loaded and stretches from approx 55mm to 87mm (2 1/8" to 3 3/8" inch). I have my iPhone 6 (67mm or 2 5/8") in a somewhat of a slim case. Didn't have to take the case off. If you have a fairly thick iPhone 6 case it will work depending on the contour or shape of your case. As far as an iPhone 6+, I do not have one, but I see the width of the 6+ is 81mm or 3 1/4", so I going to say it will fit both iPhone 6 and 6+.This is fine for controlled conditions. I would maybe strap it down with some heavy duty rubber bands or use a blue masking tape that does not leave glue traces on your phone, if I was to use this under rugged or more severe outdoor activities. I sharp motion could pop it out of this holder if you are not careful.

Fits over my Otterbox like cover. Works with my mini tripod and should work on the full size tripod also. I have a mono pod which should act like a selfie extender. Love it, price is right.
Wonderful product
November 14, 2014
The iPhone 6 does time -lapse vedio so it has to be mounted in a secure location and this tripod mount is a ingenious invention and it holds the phone very secure and easy to mount and remove the phone. Can't possibley go wrong with this😎🌵L.North Peoria AZ

Not so Bright, but everything else is Tight!
July 25, 2014
I REALLY like the size and craftsmanship of the light box. The fact that you can fold everything up into the carrying case is very helpful, especially when you live somewhere that doesn't have a ton of storage space. All the reviews I read were pretty spot on. The backdrop colored sheets need to be ironed or steamed because they were folded in the packaging, which isn't a big deal. The camera stand is a strange design, but I was able to get it to work, however, I would have prefered a tripod and better rubber feet to grip the surface. My only complaint is the lights just aren't bright enough. They are only 50 watts, and they make work well on dark colored backdrops, but not on the white background. The stands are great, but the power cords were so heavy, it pulled one of my lights right off my table in the first five minutes I had it set up, so watch out for that. I am going to go get 100 or 150 watt bulbs tomorrow and I think that will do the trick. Overall this is an awesome product for the price. It arrived very fast, even though it wasn't Prime. I know it will be great for product shots that I put on my website. I would recommend this to other amateur photographers that need a portable, lightweight solution that won't break the bank.
Serves Its Purpose
December 28, 2013
I was a beginner online seller so this served its purpose. STILL DOES! However, it isn't meant for items that are too large, rather small to medium items only or else you'll see the box in your pictures. I was trying to accomplish all white backgrounds and with a little photo editing I was able to.Only con I can think of is this comes with a few different color sheets but they were folded so the lines never come out which in turn you see in your pics unless you are a photoshop pro (which I'm not). I improvised and bought white project board and cut it to size which works much better for what I was aiming for in my pictures.Otherwise, the lights are great and the whole thing folds up together and takes up minimal space when stored. I recommend if you are photographing small items only.
Nice - but could be made a bit better
July 30, 2013
I like the product overall. The part I don't like is the bottom - the most important part. It's more or less the drape that comes from the top of the back wall and acts as the "stage". The sides of the light tent are a bit flimsy and can expose the bottom uncovered by the drape. So in other words you have to pull the sides very close together so that nothing exposes the bottom, and only the backup/stage is the visible material. I'm probably not explaining it correctly, but hopefully someone else understands. This is only a problem for those taking pictures of items that are large and require each side of the box to be in the shot. Might not be the case for most. The lights also get very very hot! They aren't expensive either and can be difficult to get setup to meet your lighting needs. For the cost though, this is great!
Light tent
January 13, 2013
I have owned this kit for awhile now, & have played with it quite a few times. I use it, when I have a few items to shoot, but it is portable enough to carry around. The one big thing I like about this kit, is that it folds together in it's own attached case. Also, that the polyester (?) material is very good for reflecting light. I haven't used it with the black on top, as that is too heavy, & there isn't a base for the bottom. So I have the case part hang down. With that said, the polyester is captured during the shoot, & sometimes, throws the view off.The colored sheets come folded & pressed, so getting that crease out is a bear. The camera stand is nice & heavy, & folds together as easy as the other pieces. The lights aren't anything to write home about. They are only 50 watts, & really under powered to do any serious shooting. I have tried to find higher wattage replacement bulbs, but these two prong (outdoor marker style) bulbs are tough to find. I don't even keep them with the kit any longer. An additional note, is that they aren't heavy enough for the cord, & will fall over, & bust the bulb. I believe there are many other reviews here about that.I use other lights, when using this tent. Often, only use it to reflect the back lighting, & having a white background. In direct sunlight, this is a very , very nice set up. It is also very good, when you set your camera up to shoot objects, with a short (macro) focus. You can turn it around, enough to use it as a white floor, but you'll do better getting some foam board, or a sheet of card stock. As with anything, you'll want to play (test) with it to get the right ratio for you. Be sure to white balance, your camera, if you can. But that goes with your shooting style. You could probably get away with shooting your products to sell here, or professionally, any place, but it's not bright enough in my opinion, for point & shoot cameras, & the lights aren't bright enough to give you that diffused look on other floors/backdrops.I hope this helps you in determining if this is a purchase you should make.
A Good Start for Beginners
September 25, 2012
This package works well for people wanting to just shoot small objects whether it is for personal use or selling items on eBay. However, I will say if you have items surpassing 7" in height, most cameras will have a hard time getting the object in full frame without capturing the Black top/or White sides of the tent.Pros:- Simple to setup- Different backdrops to choose from- Convenient for carrying around- Lights provided do well against the darker backdrops- Cheap- Tripod legs surprisingly sturdy. Made of metal.Cons:- Lights insufficient for the White backdrop- Lighting might not be enough for lower end cameras to pick up- Crevices on all backdrops. Recommend ironing before shooting- Tripod legs sturdy, but the actual tripod is crap. DSLR's don't have a chance on it- Lights get very hot at times- Simple to setup, but no instructions included. It's not that hard though people. Just look at the product photo...That pretty much sums it up.
Nice idea - Not so great execution
June 27, 2012
Overall it's a decent product. I'll point out the pros & cons:PROS- Price is very reasonable.- The tent itself is high quality and easy/quick to set up.CONS- Camera stand is flimsy and difficult to set. The ball joint likes to flop, even when the tension screw is fully engaged. I honestly felt like my D90 was going to fall over and finally just took handheld photos.- The lights are cheap and fragile. They don't telescope at all. It is nigh impossible to change the bulbs because the housings don't allow for any kind of grip on the bulb. One of the lights fell over on carpet, and from just that minor impact it stopped working. I thought I was going to slice my fingers open trying to remove the bulb from its housing and finally gave up.The price you pay is worth it just for the tent. That's why I give this 4 stars. But do yourself a favor and pick up a couple quality light housings and a small tripod for the camera. Kind of messes up the idea of having a quick grab-&-go case when the pieces that fit in the pockets are poorly designed rubbish.

Wish it was slightly wider.
August 12, 2016
Wonderful, great, and the right size except for the part that expands around my phone. I really like the way this item is made save for one thing. I am worried that my phone may slip out because it does not seem very secure while filming. I have an iPhone 6s Plus in an Apple leather case. No matter how much I try, I can't seem to get my phone to become flush against the back of the slot that holds my phone. Still, this is a good for the price. It works. Just wish it was slightly wider so it grips my phone better.
Works as advertised but could be tougher
August 11, 2016
The stand arrived quick and functions as advertised. It's quite a tight fit on my iPhone 6S with a slim case (total width dims 2-7/8" outside) and I'm worried the soft rubber grip at the top to pull it open will come apart at some point. Material like that, in my experience, always dries out and splits over the years. However, for the price, and the fact I'm only planning to use it on occasion (more for holding the camera as a work lamp on a bendable arm than as a camera) I figure it's a fair risk to take.I've used it to bend the arm and hold the phone upright, horizontal, and even pointing up at a an angle to shine the LED of the phone under a project I'm working on, and it did hold, but as another reviewer said DO NOT LET GO OF YOUR PHONE IF YOU ADJUST IT. It fell twice from my own error.I would not trust this holding a wider or heavier phone or phablet like a Galaxy Note or iPhone 6S Plus, but that's just me. Perhaps the springs inside the plastic tubes are just would too tight, but I can't find a safe way to adjust the tension.
Simple - but it works
August 3, 2016
To be honest, it's a good idea but pretty basically executed - a standard tripod mount with a "Selfie Stick" style spring-catch for a smartphone. Though it's called an "iPhone Tripod Adapter", I suspect it'll work just as well with a Samsung Galaxy S7 or a Google Nexus 6P.It doesn't hold the phone rock-solid on the mount, though it holds it well enough that you can shoot with it easily. Using it to mount my iPhone 6S Plus onto a small inexpensive tripod which expands to about 5-1/2 feet fully extended that I've had for years, I essentially used it as a more stable and flexible version of a Selfie Stick at a SF Con I was recording panels and interviews at.If it held your smartphone on the tripod rock-solid I would have given it five stars - but at US$7.95 it's inexpensive, and does the job if you're the least bit careful.
Like others have noted
January 9, 2016
It works with my IPhone 6S Plus plus thick otter case, although it was a bit of work to get the phone to snap into the holder. Like others have noted, it feels flimsy. When I took it outdoors to do landscape photography I kept thinking "Why am I trusting an 8 dollar plastic gadget to hold an 850 dollar phone?" I plan to continue using this indoors on carpet while looking for something more sturdy for outdoor use.
Broke on my first use; replacement is fine, but...
June 7, 2015
UPDATE June 23, 2015:I contacted DaVoice for a replacement and they sent me a new one with great customer service. It was the same thing but not broken. I say that not in a rude way, but because once on Amazon I found out I didn't receive the original product but instead a generic! I wrote my original review below in frustration so have deleted out most of it. I originally got this to connect my phone to some GoPro mounts on my scooter and use it as a phone mount. I'm just... not sure if this adapter can handle the vibrations and bumps; I am very afraid to try it, but one day I probably will. For tripod use, this will work no problem. I tilted it upside down and shook it and my phone stayed on, so it appears to hold it well. I am just afraid of the screw part breaking like my first one did, but we'll see... I will give an update if it ever does. I have one of those thick sorts of otterbox cases on my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone and don't need to take it off to use this which is a huge plus. I've increased my original 1 star rating to 4 because while it still feels a little cheap, the replacement works and does the job.------original review------This adapter was to hold my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone on a tripod, but I never got to even use it. I screwed the adapter onto my tripod, put my phone in it, then took it back off. I thought I saw something fall out from the adapter, then as I looked, I noticed the screw hole is coming apart?! It's like made of copper or something and is bending and breaking off inside there on FIRST USE! Check the picture I added to see what I mean.
Great litlte device, with some caveats
December 4, 2014
GENERAL: Overall very happy with it. It fits my largish LG G3 (slightly bigger than the Apple 6).I like the adapter most because it is slim and portable and adjustable, easily fits ina pocket without any bulk. And the price is right! I use to use velcro to rig my phone to my tripod so this little item saves the day!USAGE: For photogaphy, it's awesome, it's slim and the design is very open so I can access any part of the phone without it getting blocked like the bulkier designs out there. I can take group pictures on my phone now since my phone also has a 10 second timer delay so I can get into every picture now!I also use it to record off my DVR'd TV shows off my widescreen HDTV when i want to capture short clips or entire episodes of favorite shows. Yeah I can youtube some things but the video quality on my LG can capture SuperHD levels videos, and not everything that I want to save is on youtube. I can frame my widescreen TV image precisely onto the phone with the help of this little adapter. I use to hand-hold my camera believe it or not but that was tiring and the videos were wobbly. I love this little adapter thin the more I use it.CAVEAT: Beware when you are trying to move the phone around on the tripod, the phone might pop-out so make sure your phone is protected by a durable case or that you are not on a concrete ground, or just be aware to hold on to the phone when you are making adjustments to the phone while attached on the tripod. The fit is snug but not tight.GRIPES: I worry if one day the springs or the rubber pull tab might break though...we'll see. The pull tab should have been made of hard plastic or even metalWANTS: it would have been nice if it came with a stiff but soft bright-colored slip-in case so it's easy to find in your bag or desk drawer and to protect your other belonging from becoming entangled with it.

Decent Light Box
February 7, 2014
There are several things I'm not too excited about with this, but it does serve its purpose.1) The lights aren't very bright. Good quality shots from a hand held are not likely unless you have a fast lens or are okay with high ISO. It also feels like it's difficult to get a good consistent which balance because any ambient light affects it - this is again due to how dim the lights are.2) The 'tripod' sucks. It's cumbersome and it's too tall. I would've preferred to see that money put toward better lighting.3) The top of the box is the heavy black case, so there is no easy way to provide soft overhead lighting.4) The backgrounds were all very wrinkly with no ironing recommendations. I had to guess and luckily I did not ruin them. One thing to note is that the velvety texture will end up on your ironing board, so you will want to have a lint roller handy to clean it up so you don't mix colors between backgrounds or get that lint on your clothes. We were able to get some decent pictures using this, but I didn't expect it to take so much effort. Definitely consider ordering some nice bright flourescents, or a pair of halogen work lights.
Great tent; the rest sucks!
January 5, 2014
The tent is great, well designed, especially the velcro top. I was able to iron the back drops with a warm iron to remove the creases. But the hardware and lights? Forget about them. So just buy the tent separately if you can. The hardware is too flimsy to support a camera and hold it still. And it gets in the way of your arms anyway. The lights are not very bright, and burn out or break at the slightest irritation from the environment or power switch. The have no rubber grips on the feet so they slide about. I anchored them with gum. The bulbs have some strange GU11 base I had never seen before, and are VERY hard to remove and replace, but you can get replacements cheap, $1.25, from China, if you want to wait. Otherwise, be prepared to replace them often with expensive bulbs, like $12 each on Amazon, not typically found in the hardware store. And to struggle with a pliers or very skinny fingers to remove bulb from holder. JUST BUY THE TENT. After both bulbs broke, 2 days after I got the tent, I ended up setting up my own lighting using a pole lamp and a clamp lamp. That set up works better, is height adjustable, sturdy and cheap to replace. I gave it 3 stars because the tent is excellent and 2 star rating is not fair to the seller who probably didn't manufacture the product. But they should know better and not sell it like it is.
Better be good in photoshop...
August 1, 2013
As a photographer, I purchased this item to use until I could buy a bigger, more professional studio. I only used the white background with the box and the lights since I work as a commercial photographer shooting pieces of jewelry. This studio is designed nice, it has everything in one easy place and is very portable if you need something on the go. However, the lights are not going to be desired for a serious photographer. My pictures turned out purple, and I had to fix the coloring all the time in Photoshop. The stand for your camera is a waste, if you use a DSLR. Overall, its okay if you only need the studio for small items and hardly ever shoot indoors. If your serious in the business though, get continuous studio lights and poster board if you cannot get strobes and a decent background yet. I rated this product 3 stars because it does work if it's really needed but you HAVE to be amazing in Photoshop or another photo editor if you want professional style pictures.Good luck! :]CowboyStudio Table Top Photo Studio Light Tent Kit in a Box - 1 Tent, 2 Light Set, 1 Stand, 1 Case
It is what it is.
January 10, 2013
I bought this purely to sell items on ebay. I wanted something where I could take pictures and not depend on natural lightening or house lights or worry about what's in the background as I would have my own mini studio. Let me first say, I am in way a pro photographer so when it came without any instructions for set up or use I was dumbfounded for quite awhile. I ended up going back to the Amazon listing just to figure out how to set it up and even then I was thinking - well, I guess that will do. Who doesn't include instructions? The lights are nice but they get really hot really quickly and start giving off this plastic burning smell which freaked me out at first. So, when I placed them I couldn't touch them again as they were super hot.Overall I think its an ok product, but could have been bettter. For the price it is what it is.
Not the greatest
September 18, 2012
I am somewhat disappointed in this product. I bought it so that I could take well lit photos for etsy without having to take my items outside. My camera is pretty decent (eos 10D) but even with adding a third light and adjusting the exposure, the photos came out like they were taken in a dark hole. I had to take the entire thing outside to take photos which defeated the entire purpose of buying the product anyway. (I tried 2 other cameras with similar results)I also wondered how difficult it would be for the company to take 5 minutes and type up some instructions. black and white copies are relatively cheap, adding instructions would cost them what? An additional 3¢? Sure, you can go online and watch the video, but that isn't the most convenient solution. As with another reviewer, my studio did not open as indicated on the tutorial on the product web site. This wasn't a huge deal for me, but it did have me fighting to get it to stand up correctly. So if you purchase this product, make sure you check it over really well before you decide to keep it.
Good Product Ranking ~ Although Lighting Strength Is A Bit Weak
May 28, 2012
Shipping Was Very Fast For This Product ~ When I received, I was excited to setup for some product shots I was needing to retake for my website ~ The cube is super cool (not too big, not too small, just right for what I was using it for ~ easy setup ~ although I agree with the other users regarding the tripod ~ not very stable (have eliminated completely and purchased a Joby GorillaMobile for iphone4 instead ~ can be purchased on Amazon and works great for pics) ~ The provided lights were a bit weak in strength (could use at least 2 more to get enough light into box to be successful in pics) ~ Other than that, the box itself is a good value (you get different background colors to change out for photo shoots) ~ Carrying case is a bonus! ~ Would recommend to purchase, but with a few modifications (as noted in review) :-)

You get what you pay for.

Explore other options if possible. This set is very inexpensive. It comes with 2 lamps, a tripod for your camera, the tent/carrying case, and a few backdrops. The lamps are severely under-powered. In pitch black conditions, using the tent as your diffuser, and a white backdrop, I still needed to employ 2 freestanding lamps to get adequate lighting. The lamps overheat tremendously within a few minutes of use, and need to be handled with extreme caution to avoid injury. The tripod, though functional is not intended for use with a full size camera. Its something you would use with a point and shoot. The pictured set up removes the possibility of having an downlight diffused from above, This is problematic with non-white backdrops and cannot have a back light. In every instance I had undesirable shadowing. I remedied this by turning the set up on its side, and using an external diffuser and lamp. However the portability of the set up is fantastic, and the built in carrying case makes transportation easy.Needless to say, if I were to buy another portable photo-box set, I would buy something with diffusing materials on all sides apart from the opening. Unfortunately it seems that with all bundled options, to get quality shots, you will need to purchase more light sources.
Misleading product description - the light box is not 24"x24"!!!
February 12, 2013
The photo shows the 18"x18" light box, which at the time of purchase was $10 less. There is a CHEAP (and I DO MEAN cheap!) pop-up style 24"x24" "light-box" included, but it is NOTHING at all like the box shown in the photo. The "tripod" is VERY cheap - the wing on the ball lock for the camera mount is pathetically small - KILLS you fingers to tighten and even when I used rubber covered pliers my Canon Digital Rebel XSi is still too heavy and causes it to droop! The 18"x18" tent turned out to be acceptable, but not worth even the price it is sold at in my opinion. No, I do not hate this product, but I definitely DO NOT LIKE IT! I will POSITIVELY NEVER buy anything made by CowboyStudio EVER again!
mixed feelings
December 5, 2012
I have mixed feelings about this item. It's a piece of s***, yet it kind of does its job. The cords are not long enough, so if you don't have extension cords and your not careful or if you have kids running around, even animals it can easily be knocked over and broken. All it takes is a little tug. The cords are that short! The legs on the lights do not have any rubbers so it slides on every kind of surface very easily. The light bulbs get hot very fast, and if you break the light bulb good luck getting it out to replace it. The camera stand is a piece of crap, but you get what you pay for on that. The light box is okay, it does its job. However, it's a stupid set up having the heavy bag (black top) on top because it starts to cave in and the edges start to move apart. The only thing holding it together is the Velcro.Overall, it does its job. However, I don't think it's worth the $40. If you can get past all the downfalls then you will like it. It works well as far as the lights, and the box. Does its job kind of if you don't mind using photoshop for corrections. could be better. I probably wouldn't recommend this item. You can probably get a better one for a little more.
Not so bright, its alright...
July 11, 2012
Being that I am a beauty blogger I need true white light to show my readers the true color of make-up, to help them see the product, even if it is no right in front of them.I was looking for a new camera and I figured, I might as well add a light to improve quality in photos, so here's my review.First off, I was alittle surprised at the size. I was expecting a little more, but I didn't buy it for its size, I bought for the quality I would need. When I first turned it on, I was disappointed to see that it was not a true white light but a yellow candle light shade. Not so dark yellow that it turned the product a different color all together, but enough for me to know the product that I was shooting and the product that the lens captured, was not the same. Not the best, but I moved on. A big flaw is that this lamp gets WHITE HOT!!!! I'm talking about burns on your fingers if your not careful. That's not the greatest news when your constantly having to move a product different angle to get the best lighting and you have to touch this and burn your fingers. They should have a nozzle to adjust without getting burned, but I guess you get what you pay for. Another thing, was that the slits that the light shown through, were distracting when I was trying to film a tutorial for Youtube. There was a yellow slit of light on my forehead and no matter which way I turned it, there was always one showing, somewhere. :( Not good.If your looking for a light to help light up a scene, I guess you could use this, but remember you will have spots on the side of the edges because of the slits and if you don't mind burning your fingers, go for it. Its a good price, so if this is what you want, try it. I can still use mine to help me see little details, as it is bright, but not really what I was looking for. The search goes on.
Tent's nice; the rest is not usable
June 3, 2012
The tent's nice, works well, and is what I expected. The lights definitely disappoint: even after 4 hours usage, they still give off a strong burnt plastic odor. The power switches on them stopper working well after the first approx. hour long use. This was most likely due to the overheating which they suffered from the oh halogen lamps. The same overheating also softened other portions of the plastic light fixture and, of course, caused the terrible burnt plastic odor which filled the room and adjoining rooms. The camera stand is semi usable for a light, compact point-and-shoot. Don't expect to put a DSLR on it, even a light one. It will not hold position well: the ball mount will slowly tilt down. Also takes 10+ seconds for the stand to damp out vibrations. Also had a non-functional release clamp. Perhaps it's to allow thestand to telescope? Dunno since releasing the clamp appears to do nothing and the stand simply cannot telescope. Perhaps is there to give the false appearance that the stand telescopes?
It is hot.... not good hot.
April 1, 2012
It is eh... I didn't expect a small light to shine brighter than my very large studio lights, so it does its job exactly the way it is supposed to. With one little caveat.... It gets really really hot. Not in a good way. After about 20 minutes, it smells like you are cooking something. Which unless you are taking studio pictures of someone cooking something, it is not good. I think the model was a little confused by the smell. I'll keep it. You pay exactly what you get. A small light, doing the job of a small light, but also cooking. The cooking is not an added bonus. I don't recommend it. For an inexperienced photographer, it might become a fire hazard.

sometimes my phone would pop out when I moved the tripod but I have a good case on it so it wasn't really a problem ...
June 23, 2017
I've bought 2 of these, and they both have cracked and becomes unusable after a few weeks. It works decently, sometimes my phone would pop out when I moved the tripod but I have a good case on it so it wasn't really a problem for me. I'll buy a different product now that I once again need to replace it.
Clear piece not attached.
December 14, 2016
It's certainly sufficient and useful , however the small clear plastic piece that actually clamps down putting pressure on the phone is prone to slipping out if you adjust the phone too often or a bit to rough, or whatever... (I've almost lost it a couple of times now). Unfortunately, if I lose that piece I'll have a lot of difficulty using this mount as there were no extras of those clear pieces in the package.
Rubber Pull tab tore off first try
September 6, 2016
Purchased this to use with my Note 3 and on the first attempt to pull it open far enough to put the note 3 in the little rubber piece tore off the top of the item. Still works but have to pull on the metal instead of the rubber piece that tore off.
This adapter just works, UNTIL IT BREAKS.
October 18, 2015
I am revising my review because the adapter broke after light usage. It broke where the metal threaded nut is encased in hard brittle plastic. The tripod has a cushioning that the camera sits on. The adapter sits on this pad also and caused the plastic to break as it was being tightened down against the pad. The adapter should have been stronger in this area to anticipate the flexing in the pad. Perhaps a person would be wise to place a large flat washer under the adapter. Perhaps the seller and/or manufacturer should have suggested using a washer. Below is my original review in which I gave it 5 stars. My phone is only 2 1/4 inches wide and I was afraid that it would not clamp to such a narrow one, but it did. Through spring tension, it will hold items from 2 1/8 inches through 3 inches wide. It will grab not only phones, but most anything you need a tripod for. The bottom of the adapter is padded and 1 3/4 inches wide, so you'll need that much button-free space on that side of the phone. The top of the adapter is a rubber pad only 1/4 inch wide so it should leave the entire side of the phone accessible to push buttons. The included bonus screw will come in handy to attached the adapter to things other than tripods, such as a spring clamp or a flat bar clamp. These clamps must have a 1/4 inch hole for the screw to pass through. I tied a spare wrist strap to my bonus screw so that it will be less likely to be lost. My only concern with the cell phone tripod adapter is: How long with the rubber pull tab last that you use to pull it open?
OK - but better designs.
May 31, 2015
There are better designs than this. This holds the phone very very snuggly. However, its difficult to get in and out. You have to pull pretty hard on the rubber tab.. My car holder design snaps in then phone when you place it in the holder, and then releases with a simple press of a button, all utilizing just one hand.

March 16, 2015
Again, one of those times where you get what you pay for. This is an awkward spring clamp that does not securely hold my iPhone 6 plus without a case. It is impossible to adjust and can suddenly let go of the phone, shooting it at the floor with added energy from the spring.

So many things wrong with this product. First the product design itself is flawed. This comes folded and each side folds up to create the cube. The top as pictured is the heaviest part of the item and does not have any way to secure to to the sides. Because of this, the top will of course not stay up by itself. Second the lights are not diffused so where ever you point it, will have a bright center spot instead of creating overall light inside of the cube. The final issue and the reason why I returned this is the lights emit a very, very strong burning smell and are extremely hot to the touch. I was scared that it would catch fire or burn anything that is was facing. The lights were also so hot that within a minute of it being turned on, I could not touch the lamp anywhere without oven mitts. I'm sure there are better products out there. Spend a little more and get a quality product.

January 30, 2016
As excited as I was to use this table top photo studio I was unable to. I own a larger one but liked the portability of this one and bought it in the smaller 16" size. The top very easily falls down and I presume it would do it more often in the larger tents since it has no support in the center and it will probably sag from the weight and eventually fall. It should have Velcro on the sides of what ends up being the black top, but it does not. You just have to make it stand exactly on top of the two sides. Neither of the two side lights worked so that was bad as I did not want to use my big lights which take longer to set up and much more space. The stand for the camera is not too good either. If you have a reasonably good camera I would recommend using your own, specially as you would be able to adjust the camera angle.
Perfect for just starting to learn product photography, not applicable for professional use
December 19, 2014
I had high hopes for this! The lights give off a nasty, noxious fume less than 10 seconds after turning it on. So be quick! The lights don't do a good job in diffusing the light thru the walls either. The inserted black, white, blue and red "satin" backgrounds are too reflective and look SO fake. The white actually has a yellowish hue. Also, the black over-fld onto the top is strange because it casts an overshadow. It should really be a white, translucent material like the sides.Overall, would not recommend.
Oh no!
March 20, 2014
I should have listened to the other reviewers here better before buying. I'm trying to return after less than 2 hours of owning it.Cons:--CHEAP (not as in cheap by dollars, but as in junk!) Flimsy.--Wire frame was bent upon arrival.--Walls are wobbly.--Supplied lights are unable to penetrate diffuser rendering them useless. Unless you put them right up to the diffuser. Which also renders them useless.--White backdrop is so thin as to allow the black of the box wall to penetrate through. Appears gray with white backdrop over it.--Backdrops are folded into squares (vs rolled) making harsh lines in them. I had to iron one for about 20 minutes at a high setting to get the wrinkles to mostly come out. But they are still there.I think a DIY option would be far more effective and probably about the same cost. I was time-crunched so I tried to order this instead. Looks like I should have done it myself as I've now invested 2x the amount of time. Hopefully Amazon accepts the return.I should mention in addition, this is my first ever return to Amazon.
Starts out ok for the money, but quickly turns to crap.
November 13, 2013
Quite frankly this lighting kit was ok when i bought it. The lights run extremely hot after just a few minutes which makes them hard to adjust without getting burnt. The backdrops come wrinkled and cannot be ironed because of the synthetic material. The photo shows it with the black on top, but if photographing reflective items like metal, this doesnt work and has to sit on the black which causes the surface to be uneven. the camera stand that comes with it stands too tall for even my point and shoot and cannot be screwed tight in a angle where it can actually take a photo. and now after not even two months of having this cheap thing, one of the lights has stopped working. The light did not burn out, but something has happened with the cheap plastic and the cord. If i jiggle it, it flickers but refuses to stay on. Ill be looking somewhere else for a lighting kit.
Terrible quality
July 3, 2012
I have had this no more than a few hours and I have already packed it up and have gotten it ready for return. The lights get scary hot and smell like burning plastic. The tent is really not that great, it does not allow for nearly enough light reflection. The tripod is nice in the sense that it is flat on the bottom, though not great quality. The carrying case arrived with stitching missing and the tripod falling out of the bottom of its space. The one background I opened had the stitching in the Velcro falling apart. I tried the product with the hope that the good reviews would outweigh the bad. All in all I feel that I would have had better luck with one of the tents that are sold alone.

Didn't Work Out For Me...But It Might For You
January 21, 2017
These are sold as being wide enough for the LG V20. Well.. they aren't. The rubber tip, that you can see extending above the clip, in the image for this broke in less than a minute. Yep. Less than a minute. The only reason I don't return it is because it's just not worth it to me. These 'sort' of fit the phone.. but they aren't really made for the wider phones, IMHO.As an aside... I already had this exact adapter that I used for my Galaxy 7...and it worked fine. I still use it... but I expected this to be just a bit wider version of my other one... because of the description..
Almost good

I was really happy to get this adapter. I used it twice and was really happy with the performance. Tonight of all nights I was looking forward to using this for our Christmas party pictures. It kicked my phone out twice and when I attempted to adjust it the frame broke into two pieces. I would attach a picture but the broken parts are in the trash with the crumpled up wrapping paper.
and it can easily break right off
July 26, 2016
To give this review I was forced to give this product 1 star, which if there was the choice to give absolutely 0 stars then that is what I would have preferred to do. When I received the adapter it was in a clear little plastic bag tucked into the regular soft mailing package. The bottom plastic piece was already broken. But I can see why the way it is shipped in this soft bag with no protection and without any kind of little box or small case to protect it. The product is entirely plastic, and it can easily break right off. It has thin tiny plastic brackets to hold your phone in place. I can see how even if it wasn't already broken in shipping that it would probably break off when using it with my phone. I returned it and instead purchased the more expensive but worth it all metal adapter RetiCAM.
Cheaply made. Too tight a grip. Broke with little effort.
July 5, 2016
I bought this because it was a "top purchase". I was disappointed in the quality when I opened the package, but I figured I'd use it anyway and give it a chance. I purchased a different one recently (one that had a swivel and was made if stronger materials) and it's a good thing I did. The day my new one was delivered, this one broke in half as I was unscrewing it. Also, it's SO TIGHT, i felt like it was crushing my phone when I used it (I have an LG G4). I won't buy this again and I won't recommend this product.

I guess you get what you pay for. Tried tightening down, even with pliers, and it's still extremely loose.
