Humidor Humidifiers

This is second time I've bought these. They lasted me about 18+ months last time before the crystles wouldn't do their job any more.

Cannot say enough good things about these simple yet effective humidifiers. They keep the cigars maintained beautifully in my humidor without much maintenance at all.

They work great, but make sure you use 2 at once if you have even a medium-small humidor. One isn't enough.
Does their job.

2nd time ordering these things. They work perfect holding my small humidor to around 70%.
Could not be easier

Trying to maintain the correct humidity in a humidor can be trick. Take the guess work out by buying a few of the Drymista tubes! Fill them up as needed and place them in your humidor along with your cigars. Done. I recommend using filtered water because I don't like the idea of evaporating tap water chemicals like chlorine soaking into my cigars.I use 2 tubes for a box of cigars but given that they are designed to maintain 70% humidity you should be safe adding more as they won't over-saturate your stogies.

Don't Let The Price Fool You This Is Not Junk
September 16, 2017
You could easily spend 100$ on a humidor that looks exactly the same and IS the same. I have a 150$ glass top humidor that holds 25 more cigars and is the same exact quality as this wonderful humidor. I seasoned it, threw in 30 Rocky Patels, Davidoff's and other cigars that were overflow from my other humidor. The humidity element comes with a sticky side that is mounted to a wall of your choosing and attaches and reattaches via a magnet. I threw in a small digital humidity monitor and calibrated the hygrometer that way. The humidity has sat at 72% for three weeks. That's an indicator of a very well made humidor. A cheap humidor will need water or juice frequently due to a poor seal. This features 'Sure Seal Technology' that locks it up like a bank vault. Nothing about this piece is cheap except the price. It is compatible with digital hygrometers and the analog one can be popped out and replaced if desired. I'll never spend large amounts of money again for humidors. I've got two and they should last for life. I'll order this one as a gift for all my friends who smoke from now on.
Great looking desktop humidor
March 27, 2017
Great looking desktop humidor, easily holds the 20 or so cigars I have on hand at a time. The divider makes it easy to put my "everyday" cigars on one side, and keep the fancier "special occasion" cigars separate. The included humidifier doesn't hold water long, and I have to top it off every 2 or 3 days, especially in the winter time when the ambient humidity is low, but they make aftermarket humidifiers that are inexpensive if you want one that lasts longer. I'd recommend purchasing a digital hygrometer, though, because I've noticed the included analog dial hygrometer isn't very accurate, even after multiple adjustments to sync it to the digital one. It's usually only within +/- 5% of what the digital one says. Still, great looking and a great cedar aroma, would definitely buy it again.
Perfect for beginners. Great starter/training box.

This humidor is a great item for anyone just entering the world of cigars smoking. That said, this humidor should be considered an inexpensive starter humidor until you have the money to invest in something more serious. The construction of this humidor is that of MDF and 1/32-1/16" Spanish Cedar veneer lining on the inside and a faux mahogany finish on the outside. It will not hold humidity like a higher priced humidor of similar demension constructed out of 1/4" Spanish Cedar lining. If you have the money invest in the $130 Savoy out of the gate, if not pick up one of these humidors. You may have to keep topping off the humidifier every few days or double up on you humidification sticks, but it's worth the $30 in my opinion. Once you're ready to upgrade keep this one around for travel/vacation use.

I owned this for at least 5 years and it stayed the correct temp for so long and kept all my cigars in great condition.I also bought those gel things you can put a little water in and put them in the humidifier to keep it perfect, from a local smoke shop.I dont know all the technical terms on these things but it sure did the job when i owned it.
Outstanding Value
February 9, 2014
I am not a cigar aficionado however I do enjoy a good smoke a couple times a month. My Son bought me a box of very fine cigars and insisted I purchase a humidor to store them. Previously I had relied upon the purchase and smoke method. So I went to Amazon and looked for something and with decent reviews, relatively inexpensive, and "primeable". This humidor popped up. We bought and one day later it was delivered - got to love Amazon prime.I was really very surprised at the value for money. The build quality is outstanding for 25 dollar box. Isn't absolutely perfect but very presentable. The seal appears to be quite tight and excellent instructions were provided,I followed the instructions to calibrate the hygrometer and after eight hours in the baggie with damp salt I found the unit to be within 1% of the expected 75% humidity. No adjustment called for.I then attacked the seasoning of the box. I am in California and ambient humidity is about 50% more or less. We have had rain this week so we are closer to 60% in the house. The box was consistent with this humidity when I started the seasoning process. I deviated from the instructions and used a clean ceramic sushi dipping bowl about 2 inches in diameter as my water vessel. The idea was to increase water surface area and get humidity up a little quicker.I also added water to the supplied humidifier which is a sponge contained in a plastic housing.I monitored for 24 hours and saw a very slow increase in humidity to about 62 to 63%. Being a little impatient I nuked the water in the sushi dish and placed it back in the box. The humidity, as one would expect, zipped up to 75%. After about two hours the humidity was down to right on 70% and appears to be stable. I doubt I could be that lucky so I expect I will see the humidity decrease as the cedar absorbs moisture.but I think I am on the right track.By the way, when you first open the box you get a very strong aroma of cedar, just as you should.I grant you I am in the early stages of the cigar storage adventure but I am very happy with this purchase and feel like I definitely got value for money.1 week update:The humidor has settled in a 70% humidity and remained rock solid since I used the procedure noted above to boost the humidity up from the low 60s. It has been a week now so I think it is going to remain solid here. Extremely pleased and the humidor smells like heaven when you open it and you get the smell of tobacco mixed with the ceder. Wow!
Great Starter Humidor
September 2, 2013
This is a good quality humidor, especially for anyone getting into higher quality cigar and tobacco collections. The built in analogue Hygrometer gauge accurately reflects the humidity level to keep your cigars stored to your liking.Be sure to treat the humidor before using as storage. I found it useful to soak the included humidifier thoroughly in distilled non-drinking water, and allow it drain excess water until the excess water is out and humidifier is still saturated. Once you've done this, install the humidifier into the humidor. Take a clean acrylic paintbrush and use the same distilled water to brush the inside perimeter of the lid to help expand the wood during the treatment process. I took a new kitchen sponge, soaked it in the distilled water, drained excess, placed it on a ziplock bag and allowed it to sit in the humidor for 3 days prior to using for cigar storage. The hygrometer will fluctuate up and down throughout the first few days, but you'll want to keep an eye on it based on your climate, and treat for humidity as needed.Overall, I'm really please with this humidor.

Nice cigar box, love the ability to visually check humidity levels w/o having to open, although the internal gauge isn't accurate. I bought a standalone gauge after reading existing reviews. Nice finish, arrived in perfect condition.
Great Inexpensive Humidor
September 10, 2017
I have had this humidor for over a year, and I'm very pleased. I live in dry, arid Arizona and the humidor maintains my desired relative humidity level. My preferred rh level is 67%-68%. The humidor looks great and performs. As with any wood humidor, make sure to season it well before use. In addition, I suggest investing in a digital hygrometer. The analog hygrometer it comes with looks nice but I never even bothered to calibrate it because digital hygrometers are superior.
Great item at a great price

It's been holding steady humidity for the month or so I have owned it. Works great. Priced right. Looks beautiful. Keep your favorite cigars at the right humidity at the right price. A+ item and seller.
I love it. Appears to be well made
May 11, 2017
I love it. Appears to be well made. Seems to be holding just below 70% (but also haven't calibrated the hydrometer). I like the movable divider as I have some nub cigars on one side and the full size on the other. Nice color and great smell!
Great humidor
May 9, 2017
well packaged and looks great - seasoned it over several days. For it's price range it's a good quality built humidor that seals well. Callibrated the hygrometer - not sure how accurate it will be over a longer period of time - but it looks nicer than a digital one - though I recommend using a good digital hygoameter for accurate monitoring.
Handsome and Professional Looking!

I am still a novice cigar smoker. Therefore, I didn't want to break my wallet on an expensive humidor. This humidor is sturdy, nice looking, and very functional! I highly recommend it to anyone who keeps a small cigar collection. Very attractive piece on my table I might add.

Decent accurate hygrometer. Can be calibrated if it's off.
September 20, 2016
Decent accurate hygrometer. Mine checked out well on accuracy so I didn't need to calibrate it. If you need to you can calibrate it.As with all these small ones - they're sensor is small - so it'll respond quickly when you open the humidor. So open it and check your reading. It's not critical - but open your humidor and watch the reading and you'll get a feel for how fast (or not) these compact hygrometers respond to the changing conditions.Do note that most hygrometers are accurate within only a +- 5% value. So if you calibrate with a calibration pack - then you know you're spot on 70-80%. (usual salt based 75% calibration pack)This isn't a particularly huge issue as mostly you don't want to exceed 70% (mold) but you're running 65% (like me) or 70% beads you'd do better calibrating against your beads as HF and quality beads are spot on in my experience. Just not KL as it's not consistent enough as a reference.
This hygrometer was perfect for my new humidor
June 14, 2016
This hygrometer was perfect for my new humidor. I am new to the cigar hobby, and got a small/ cheaper humidor to keep some sticks in. I went to a few of the local cigar shops to find a smaller hygrometer to keep in there to monitor the humidity levels in there. They were all between 25-40 dollars each, and looked exactly the same as this unit. This was less than half the price, and comes with a very easy digital read out for both temp and humidity. I tested this unit by putting it in a bag with some salt water, and adjusted the meter after. This is very easy to adjust and manage levels. It was really simple to just slap on the magnet to the top of the humidor, and then this can just stick right to it. Very nice hygrometer for the money.
Works Well, Good size for Humidors, but can be found cheaper elsewhere
November 22, 2015
Accuracy is spot on and is identical to a Xikar round hygrometer (+-2 accurracy). Tested it with a salt solution (table salt + distilled water slurry + Ziploc bag) and the HydroSet II and the Xikar round both read 76 humidity. The hygroSet2 took about 4 hours to reach the final reading while the Xikar took about 6 hours. It quickly adjust to humidity changes and can be easily moved around a cigar humidor. The magnet backing works but i have a glass top 50ct (more like 35) and just leave the round hygrometers on top of the cigars or on the side with the humidifier. From a Cigar website this will usually run around 20 bucks but you can get this item cheaper from Ebay with free shipping for 14.99http://www.ebay.com/itm/QI-HygroSet-II-Hygrometer-Digital-Round-/331293336555?hash=item4d229f23eb:g:LS8AAOSwnDZT8QGtI have seen this go for around 13 bucks with free shipping but its usually direct from china (takes 4-6 weeks free shipping) or you have to really dig for online promos.
No regrets.

I've had this thing for quite some time now, I think almost two years. I bought a calibration pack for under 10 bucks when I first bought it and calibrated it, but if I remember correctly it wasn't off by much. This thing has held strong and accurate ever since. I recently did the "salt" calibration test to check if it was still reading accurately and sure enough it was. For those curious, if you fill a bottled water cap with salt and lightly damp it(don't soak), and put it in a ziplock back with the hygrometer, after 24 hours it should read at 75% humidity. Adjust as necessary. Nice cheap way to calibrate this, or any other hygrometer without spending more $.Overall this thing is great for the price. It's nice and tiny so it doesn't take up a whole lot of room and it's been running fine on it's originally battery since I purchased. Pretty much set it and forget it. The included directions are easy and straightforward if you need to recalibrate or change the temp readings to F or C.
Easy to setup
November 27, 2012
I bought this with a Vicks GermFree humidifier since it did not have a hygrometer built in. After calibrating with a "Quality Importers Humidi-Pak One-Step Hygrometer Calibration Kit" (also found here on Amazon), it works great. It gets very dry in my house during the winter so I needed a way to measure the indoor humity. My humidifier has a setting nob, but no reading so I use this hygrometer to calibrate my humidifer to the correct setting. Now that I have everything dialed in and can maintain a desired humidity of ~40%, I can check my HygroSet every so often to make sure it is maintained.
Accurate, reliable, long battery life, mounts anywhere
May 22, 2011
This is the third one of these I've gotten in just more than a year. They have been used in sheltered locations in blizzard conditions and in hot/humid situations where both the temp and humidity were in triple digits. In waiting a decent period of time before reporting the experience with them, I wanted to be able to give more than just a first impression.DESCRIPTION: The device itself is 1 3/4 inches diameter, 1/2 inch thick, with LCD readout (not backlit) that's 1/4 inch tall in a window 1 3/8 in wide x 3/8 in high. I think it's easy to read with adequate light. It's powered by a 357A button battery (less than 30 cents apiece if bought in a 10 pack on Amazon) which is accessed by a slide compartment on the back. The battery space is designed under the mounting area so it's easy to replace, although the original is still going strong after a year.MOUNTING: It comes with a crescent moon shaped magnet built into the back (it's lightly glued and can be removed if desired) and is quite strong and not easily dislodged from a decent metallic surface. An adhesive backed strip with a thin metal pad the same shape as the magnet is also included for use in placing a mount where a metal surface does not currently exist. The adhesive is rather weak and short lasting and I would suggest that double sided mounting tape be used if this method were chosen for a more secure fixture. There is no hole on the back for a nail hanging.FEATURES: The humidity reading is adjustable by a 3/8 inch diameter rotating dial on the lower right face. Each click of the dial moves the setting up or down 1%. The red button in the top center changes the temperature reading from Fahrenheit to Celsius and there is a small slightly recessed button on the lower left face that needs to be pressed to reset the humidity reading after the dial is moved. It's a safety measure I think because the dial is prominent and easily moved if the operator is not careful, or if children pick it up. Moving the dial without pressing reset does nothing. The temperature reading is not adjustable.RELIABILITY & ACCURACY: Straight out of the box all three of the ones I currently have were within 2 degrees of a calibrated laboratory thermometer at temperatures varying from 2 degrees F to 106 F. Over time they differ by only one or two degrees generally when placed within one foot of one another for a 24 hour period. Similarly, compared to a laboratory grade hygrometer, straight out of the box they were within 2 points reading humidity, and over time have maintained that degree of accuracy from an 18% to 100% saturated environment. It responds to small changes in temperature (less than 10 degrees) within 5 minutes and humidity (less than 20%) within 10.The main reason I chose this model over others was the adjustability of the humidity reading. Consumer grade humidity readers are notoriously inaccurate, even ones from famous "Scientific" manufacturers from Oregon. I did place each one in a 75% calibration environment (laboratory grade because it was available, but there are consumer ones available on Amazon that work fine for under $6) and each one read between 74 and 76%. So for the small sample size of 3 devices in my experience, none needed calibration. I tried the adjustment dial anyway, just for fun, and as advertised, one click = 1%. The clicks are subtle however, so be forewarned - you may turn the dial farther than you intend. The device responds quickly so it does not take long to correct your mistakes. Don't forget to push the reset button though, or your efforts will have been futile.SUMMARY: For the money this is really a very accurate and reliable piece of equipment. It has a major advantage over other humidistats in being adjustable. But I think its greatest advantage is that it comes from the factory actually calibrated, so it's accurate out of the box. For these type devices temperature has pretty much become a no-brainer - even $5 desktop penholders are pretty close. But I have found it rare that humidity readings are anywhere near accurate. For people looking for a temp/humidity sensor for wine cellars or cigar boxes or damp basements for determining when to run a dehumidifier, or dry air during the winter for a guide running humidifiers, this thing would suit well.

So I've been using these for about 2 years now. I have 4 of them in my 100ct humidor and they do a good job keeping the humidity 67-68 (where I personally like it). I have to refill them about once a month and I have a Boveda 69 in there to absorb any excess and make sure it never creeps up over 70 (the Boveda has lasted the whole 2 years like this). The downside seems to be that the Drymistat sticks, after 2 years of use, no longer work. When refilled the gel doesn't seem to absorb water any more and they have mostly become sticks filled with water...which I do not want in my humidor.
Love it.
September 24, 2015
Might just be the best invention since the wheel. If you are like me you let your Humidor run out all the time. These little guys boost it back in shape before you can ask for a second cigar.
Seems to work...
February 10, 2013
I am on the fence with this product. One of the major gripes I have read is the packaging. It did indeed come in a plastic baggie, which didn't bother me in the slightest. Both tubes were in great sealed condition, no leakage or damaged containers. It would have been nice if there were some instructions for those that don't know how to use the product, a quick internet search fixes that. And yes you use the cap that has the holes in the end, if its leaking, you put too much water in it!My tubes came pretty full so I didn't have to add much water, and I did go ahead and add distilled water even thought it's not a requirement, I had some laying around so why not.I really like that these are the size of a cigar, so you don't take up much space in the humidor, and you can place them throughout for a nice even spread of humidity. My biggest issue right now, and a huge one, is I am not sure if they are working. I just ordered a new digital hydrometer to replace my analog one which I think is way off. As of now it reads 60 RH which is a bit lower than I want. I will update once I get a more accurate hydrometer. In the end I really like the idea behind this product and hope that it is working for me, 4 stars assuming it is, will adjust later if needed.

Great starter humidor, or for the occasional smoker
January 9, 2017
Bought this as a present for my husband, and it's his first humidor. He really likes it, though it did take nearly two weeks for us to get the humidity right--but we're novices at this, so no wonder, right? The only thing we're concerned about is that the humidity drops so quickly even if we just quickly open the lid. Probably because of the size.If this is your first humidor and you're new to cigars, this is a great model. We both like how it looks. But be sure to look into the accessories you'll need--like the liquid for the humidifier. This totally stumped us. I hadn't even considered the fact it would need to be seasoned!
Good Humidor
July 11, 2016
Good little humidor. For the price you might not expect it to be of great quality but this one is really nice. Be sure to season it before using it. I did not and had problems keeping the humidity at the correct level. My local tobacco shop sold me a seasoning kit by Boveda (https://www.amazon.com/Boveda-Humidor-Seasoning-Large-4-Pack/dp/B004NXXBLA) it's 2 packets you put in the humidor for 10 days. Once it's seasoned they store owner informed me that it needs to be kept half full. I'm not sure if this is a real thing or a ploy to get me to buy more cigars :)
but he enjoys a good cigar now and then
February 15, 2016
I bought this for my fiance. He isn't really a cigar fanatic, but he enjoys a good cigar now and then. And since we are getting married, I figured he would be getting cigars more often, so I thought this would come in handy. This came in really quick, even faster than I expected. He absolutely loved it. It came with a gold plate that can be engraved. I will be engraving our last name on it for him. It is great quality and he mentioned how he loves the smell of it. We haven't had a chance to calibrate the humidifier yet, so I will be back for an update as soon as we do that! Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase, and- so far- would definitely recommend it. I will be back soon with an update on setting it! (:
Good box, low quality accessories
October 29, 2015
This is the first humidor I've ever owned. I think it is a good purchase, and I'd buy one again. It looks very professional and is the perfect size. However, I had some issues with the hygrometer and humidifier. The humidifier didn't hold water; it just leaked all over the bottom of the humidor. I ended up putting it in a plastic Tupperware until I ordered a different type. Even if it did hold water, you can't put it on the sidewalls because the lid won't close (the lid overlaps the walls on all four sides about an inch). The hygrometer glass cracked as I was pulling the sticker off of it (that warned not to press on the glass too hard, ironically). I don't think I was applying very much pressure just trying to get a fingernail under the sticker; I think it may have been cracked on arrival and I just didn't notice it until the sticker was off. I didn't have any problems calibrating it and even with a small crack, it still looks pretty good installed in the humidor (there's not a whole lot of light where I put mine anyway). Agrees with a digital one within a few percent so I don't doubt its accuracy.Overall I'm happy with it. Smells good on the inside and looks good on the outside.
Great Value But Needs Conditioned Well
July 2, 2013
I had my eye on this for awhile and received it as a gift this past Christmas. I was far from a cigar aficionado, but the thought of it intrigued me. Once I got the hygrometer calibrated and the humidor to hold a constant 70% humidity I've enjoyed it ever since. It took a little bit to get it to hold the humidity and proved to be a chore. It seemed the wood soaked up moisture like crazy. Also, calculating the hygrometer was a bit frustrating as well. The value of the humidor is definitely a 5 for the price, but the time and effort it takes to properly season the humidor knocks down the rating. For those newbies (like I was) it can be a bit daunting figuring out how to season your humidor. My first batch of cigars actually dried out a bit because it took a while to hold that constant humidity level. You can find the instructions anywhere on the web, but I'll lay them out as best I can:1) First and foremost you need to make sure your humidor is airtight. To test this you should drop the lid of your humidor down. If you hear a *woosh* noise it means you have a good seal. If not, your lid will drop like a rock. If it does not seem airtight make sure your hygrometer is tightly in the wood. If that does not work you may need to return the product (mine was fine).2) Calibrate the hygrometer. Your humidor needs to be around a 70% constantly. You will need: a milk jug cap or something similar, zip lock bag, table salt, and tap water.Fill the milk jug cap about halfway with salt. Add water, but do not make it soupy. Place the cap and hygrometer in the zip lock bag and seal. You should leave this untouched for about 12 hours. It will create a 75% humidity. Once the time has passed get your hygrometer out and if it is not at 75% (which it most likely won't be) quickly adjust it to be. The adjusting proved to be difficult. Some reviews said there was a dial on the back of the hygrometer that you would need to take a screwdriver to. Then you could adjust the dial. However, this did not work for me for some reason. I discovered that you could pop apart the hygrometer and adjust it to 75% by hand.3) Season the inside of the humidor by wiping with distilled water. You will need: distilled water (does not have the impurities tap water has), bowl, and a clean rag. This took me about 10 separate wipe downs. I had read how you needed to be careful to not warp the wood and I think that was my problem. I was being too careful initially. Finally, I had enough of my humidor not holding its humidity and started wiping it down sopping wet. It took a little bit to find the right amount, but finally it worked. I did make sure not to leave any puddles.4) Have enough humidifiers to keep the humidity constant. Use distilled water.I discovered that the humidifier which comes with the humidor does not work that great. I still have it in my humidor, but it dries out quickly. I ordered one of the tube humidifiers (Drymistat Humidifier Tube) and it works very well. You just have to make sure to add distilled water whenever it gets past the line.5) Fill with cigars and enjoy!

Very nice humidor. Little disapointed in the humidifer (didnt stick and now just laying in the box). I plan on doing some small upgrades, but i will keep this box for a while.

I wasn't expecting much from this inexpensive humidor, but it is very well made. The joints are tight and the lid seals well with a solid, heavy feel. The hygrometer lacks a bit. It's not adjustable and the needle doesn't reach 70% but the calibration instructions are straightforward about that possibility. My experience with the buyer has been excellent. The first one I ordered never arrived (due, I believe to a mail truck accident) and the seller immediately informed me and issued a refund. I ordered a second and it arrived on time.

Does what it said it would do. Hold cigars. Two issues, the humidity device did not stay attached. It is two pieces with sticky tape with a magnet that comes off. The sticky tape did not stay attached to the wood. Other issues I can not get the humidity up to range. About 62. I use two shot glasses with distilled water. That could be because my house is only 65 in the winter. When summer comes will see if it changes.
It's a nice one
March 4, 2017
This is my first humidor, so i don't have anything to compare it to. It appears very well made and it looks great. Works as it should.Despite calibrating the hydrometer per the included instructions, it is not very accurate. Otherwise it would have been five stars.

May 14, 2016
For the price this humidor does the job. The hygrometer in front was slightly off-kilter when it came, and it doesn't appear to match what my separate digital hygrometer says on the inside, but it doesn't matter as the moisture is kept within, the inside smells great, and my cigars appear to be kept at the right humidity after I seasoned the inside of this humidor.

Works well!
July 9, 2017
Seems to have calibrated correctly. I've had this for about 5 years now and it still works well. I like how you can adjust the calibration if it is a bit off to be more exact. I've bought another type of hygrometer and its showing the same humidity which leads me to believe that this one is still working well and accurate. Good price.
Great, almost perfect.
November 5, 2016
Excellent but found every one I bought to be off in humidity level. I placed a 62% humidifier packet in an air-tight jar and after 48 hours found the default humidity setting to typically be 66 instead of the correct 62. Fortunately this particular item has a wheel on the front allowing us to adjust that and correct it. Unfortunately, that wheel is very difficult to use and judge and much you are adjusting. It's supposed to be 1% per click, but it's extremely easy to over-click and miss how many clicks are being made. If the manufacturer fixed this one detail this unit would be perfect.
Good hygrometer for the price, but I wasn't able to adjust it
October 20, 2016
Good Hygrometer for the price. My only beef (it's a fairly substantial one) is that there's no ability to adjust it after calibrating. For example, I did the salt test and my hygrometer read 73%. That's pretty close, but instead of being able to adjust it up 2%, I now have to remember that it reads 2 percent below what the actual humidity is. Not sure if mine is defective, or if this model just doesn't have that feature. At any rate, it's a good hygrometer for the price. Would recommend.
Good hygrometer at an Excellent price, but where's the calibration bag?
June 14, 2016
This hygrometer is solidly built and comes with a magnetic backing to keep it firmly attached wherever (in my case, a cigar humidor) but easily accessible for readings. My main disappointment is that it comes with a calibration guide that specifically says to place the meter in a calibration bag; however, this bag was not provided! How am I supposed to know if it is reading accurately, then? A response form Quality Importers would be appreciated.
Great little device for keeping tabs on the temperature and humidity!
February 20, 2015
I purchased two of these devices to use in monitoring the temperature and humidity levels on different floors of my home. When I received them I placed them right next to each other and both continued registering the same values throughout the course of the day. These values also matched a larger thermometer that I had so I conclude that at least the temperature portion is accurate. The humidity portion also seems accurate, at least to the point that both units register the same value. These have built in magnetic backs so they are easy to attach to a file cabinet, refrigerator, etc. for easy monitoring. They also include an adhesive backed slim piece of metal so you can stick the metal on any surface and then the device will mount using the magnet as usual. All in all this is exactly what I was looking for. It's compact and does what I need it to.
Accurate but difficult to adjust
February 9, 2013
After doing some research and reading the mixed reviews on the other digital hygrometer options out there, I decided that this would probably be the best bet for use in a small desktop humidor. Some people disagree with performing the salt test to calibrate electronic hygrometers but I went ahead and did the test knowing that I'd feel better when the hygrometer was calibrated properly. In my case, I wanted to adjust the hygrometer slightly after performing the salt test and while it is easy enough to adjust the knob, it is difficult to determine if the adjustment that you just made was enough or too much. There are incremental marks around the circumference of the dial with a little pointer protruding from the dial. You cannot feel the little adjustments though and it seems as though sometimes turning the dial doesn't do anything until you turn it further, at which point it may make too much of an adjustment. Nevertheless, once dialed in, this hygrometer works pretty well.

No better than the green foam thing that came with my humidor
September 25, 2017
I mean I love the idea. I can never get my humidor to keep humidity. I know how to season it and actually went through all the steps again prior to installing these. I have a small shoebox sized humidor with 10 or so cigars at a time. I filled and put both of these in it and within 1 day humidity when from 80% (high from seasoning) to around 20%. I left these in, but ended up buying a sponge and I've been keeping it wet with distilled water and just left it in the bottom, that seems to work!

I guess we have to replace it every year, after a year using, it starts leak badly
boveda packs are a far better option for everyday use
April 28, 2017
These don't have the open surface area needed for a box style humidor. I had 3 in a box with only about 20 cigars and it only maintained 60%. I emptied their contents into an old tray style humidor and it made a huge difference. I will say these work very well for travel humidors though. But for the money, boveda packs are a far better option for everyday use.
It's not like they are an expensive purchase
January 1, 2017
I received the humidifier tubes promptly and correctly. My issue with this is there is no information at all on what to do with them or how to use them or how long they work or anything? It's not like they are an expensive purchase, but I'd like to use them to the best advantage. Also, it's unlikely that I would reorder, not knowing anything about the product. We'll see!

The tubes are ok. Just ok. They arrive already full and puffed with crystals, but I put them into my new humidor and....nothing. My hygrometer needle dropped all the way by the next day. I thought maybe there wasn't enough distilled water in the tubes. Checked. No, they were fine. So I added 2 Boveda packets (see my review) and then everything was ok. I don't know, maybe it was just me, but the tubes were just 'ok'.

Okay For The Price
September 20, 2017
This is my first ever humidor. I had started smoking cigars back in 1997 and quit in 2005. I started back up about a month ago. I use to store my cigars in airtight tupper wear which worked great. Just have to open them up once in a while or the cigars would mold.So this is my first official humidor and it's okay. It took about 3 weeks to season, but never maintained above 57% humidity ever. That was with wetting the plastic humidifier piece with distilled water and putting a shot glass full of distilled water in it.So I removed the shot glass after 3 weeks and put in a large 72% Boveda pack and Xikar humidifier beads with solution. Now we're at 69% and maintaining.Overall it's an okay humidor. I should of spent the money and got a bigger and better one. The analog humidity gauge it comes with is trash. Buy a good digital one which is more reliable. Better yet, get a humidor without the gauge so there are less places for leakage.
Good starter humidor...after a few upgrades.
June 20, 2017
Hinges seem fine on our unit, color is even, no scratches in the finish. The humidifier puck is too big and doesn't allow for the lid to close so I picked up a Drymistat stick. Hygrometer was crooked but it pops out easily enough. Did the salt calibration but will probably grab a higher quality digital hygrometer to verify the results. Humidity has gone up steadily for two days from 50% to almost 60%; will wait until it hits 70% before opening. For $40 I didn't expect anything fancy, just a starter humidor.
Warehouse product worked for me!
March 4, 2017
This came from the warehouse shop (sort of like an open-box buy) with notes about the surface scratch that didn't mind. Upon arrival, I had to look twice for the scratch as it was barely noticeable. What I did notice (but was not mentioned) was that the hygrometer was NOT on straight- didn't even look like they tried. For a unit that is meant to be a show case, this was fairly dissapointing. None the less, the unit worked fine with the hygrometer sideways and all. Would have given it a 4 star had it not been for this reason...
Good for the price
January 4, 2017
Good for the price. The seal is fine and the space and glass top are useful to not keep opening and closing the box.I do have a couple of issues however... the hydrometer is a little off center, meaning the letters and are a little diagonal and it is very difficult to maintain an optimal humidity, even after a couple weeks of wiping with distilled water. The magnetic attachment to insert a humidifier can not be put on the back wall of the humidor as it blocks the top from closing.Other than that, I do keep around 10 cigars in there at a time and have not noticed a real difference in taste, draw, or experience because of these factors as of yet. The box works fine for an amateur like myself.
Looks good, hold humidity, bad lid design for the humidifier included
December 3, 2016
The lid won't close with the humidifier on the back wall of the box. This is a strange design flaw and I may end up just getting a different humidifier. I ended up putting it in the corner of the lid, which really puts a damper on the aesthetics. On the plus side, it is handsome, you can check humidity without opening the box (and, the hygrometer was dead accurate right out of the box. Go figure) and it's a good desktop size. Seems to retain humidity well so far and the seal is adequate.
OK for ready sticks
July 5, 2012
Bought this one to store already aged cigars ready to be smoked and I can decide which one to smoke without having to open the humidor and stare for 1/2 an hour :)It's about what you would expect for a humi made in China, although it's half the price you'd pay at a cigar e-store, so 3 stars for the price. The seal of mine is quite loose. Keep that in mind and avoid it for long-term cigar storage. As mentioned - I am using this for cigars ready to be smoked, so not that big of a deal, but if you plan on keeping cigars for long periods, you may want to reconsider or be prepared to deal with returns until you receive one with good seal. On the plus side - this was the first of many humidors that came with a well-calibrated analog hydrometer. Still, I know that this would also be hit-or-miss, so make sure you calibrate your hydrometer regardless.

Temperature Not Keeping Well

Surprised that this had so many good ratings when I purchased it as a gift for my boyfriend. It hasn't kept the temperature well, but it does look nice. Decent purchase if you're on a budget, but if not explore other options.
Seems like a good basic humidor
May 5, 2017
Seems like a good basic humidor. Im no expert but its currently in the process of being seasoned and seems like it will work just fine.
Partially works, but the glass top was not sealed correctly.
March 17, 2017
The one I received might be the exception and not the rule, but it does not maintain the proper humidity levels because the glass top is not properly sealed (I can slide it back and forth). I'm currently able to maintain about 61% humidity which is fine for some, but I am shooting for at least 67%. Once I seal it with some odorless sealant I should be able to get it to 67%. But in all honesty, this should come properly sealed from the start, so that's why I'm giving 3 stars.

July 19, 2016
For a starter, it seems to do the job. But the humidor sponge will not stick to the side of the humidor. It always falls and then doesn't work properly . i dont see myself keeping this for a long time, and will pony up some more money for a better quality. i constantly have to leave a sponge in there to keep it humid, otherwise the humidifier that comes with the case doesn't do the trick.

Works OK... but adjustment knob doesn't function.
September 26, 2017
After receiving product, I used the salt method to calibrate the hydrometer. It was within 1% of reaching the 75% target... I hit 74%. Not bad right out of the box. However, I was unable to make an adjustment. The adjustment knob did NOTHING. I tried both directions... no change. So, I just decided I would use it and know that it's slightly off... but it would still give me a good idea if I was in the ideal range of RH. A few weeks later, I decided to do the salt test again. Still holding at 74%... but still not able to make the adjustment. It's fine... I'll use as is... just wish it would adjust!
Accurate only at higher humidity levels
March 13, 2016
Temperature reading was spot on. As for the humidity reading...Bought this to keep in my guitar case.I did the salt calibration method that everyone else on here is talking about. Seemed to work fine as it was at least within a one or two percentage points of 75%. However I was unable to adjust the hygrometer as turning the knob did not appear to affect the reading in any sort of consistent fashion, certainly not as described in the directions. Whatever. The reading was close enough. Unfortunately, when I removed the hygrometer from the bag and left it sit at room temperature for a while (I live in a dry climate) it was off by more than 10% (compared by my other hygrometer and weather station) meaning even if the adjustment knob did work it would still be useless. My conclusion: It seems to be more accurate the more humidity there is. So, maybe it's fine for a humidor but it's no good for a guitar case.
Mine is off 4% regularly even after meticulous calibration, reset, calibrate cycles..
January 6, 2016
I did the whole salt water thing and bought 70% humidity tubes but this thing is very difficult to calibrate and even after it is calibrated it will misread up to 4% after being calibrated, very weird. I read the manual, watched videos so I know its not my incompetence, perhaps I got a bad unit? Since a 4% difference isn't a deal breaker I did not find the hassle worth it to return/replace. Just be forewarned that your unit might also have a similar issue.
Replaced with Caliber III Digital Hygrometer & Thermometer a year ago and much happier with that
August 16, 2014
Bought this in 2010, stopping working properly after 2 years - Battery died, display failed, then I replaced the battery, display came back but hydo reading is off & inconsistent. Replaced with Caliber III Digital Hygrometer & Thermometer a year ago and much happier with that.I got a 2nd humidor recently and found the old Hydroset still "works" - i.e. the diplay and temperature, but it won't hold a steady or accurate humidity reading.I have it sealed in a zip lock with the Caliber III and a Boveda Medium 8 Gram Humidipak 69% right now. The Caliber is reading 69% after a few minutes and holds steady, the Hydroset is not as steady so I just don't trust it 100%.Still much, better than the analog that came with the humidor, but I will be purchasing another Caliber III and retiring the Hydroset shortly.
Cheap, hard to calibrate with a faulty battery door design (fix listed in review)
January 18, 2014
It's hard to find a good, inexpensive hygrometer. I purchase two of these about 8 months ago. One is still going strong, and seems to be pretty accurate (to within 2%). The display on the other unit went dead right after installing new batteries. This appears to be a flaw in the battery door design (hint to the manufacturer - just make it slightly thicker on the inside wall so it pushes the battery into the holder properly!). A quick fix for this is to tear off a small piece of paper (or use a fortune from a fortune cookie) and fold it over once. Insert this behind the batter and close the battery door and the display should come back on! The manufacturer could use a small circle of adhesive backed plastic shim to fix all existing units.I had great difficulty calibrating these (tried both the calibration pouch that they sell and the salt + water technique). The problem comes down to the adjustment knob, which is just a baffling design that gives very little feedback to the user on what kind of adjustment they are actually doing. If the manufacturer would make a clear instruction video on adjusting this hygrometer that would go a long way in helping. If they could put a slot in the knob to allow a flat head screwdriver to be used for adjusting the knob position that would also make adjustment easier.Bottom Line: All in all this is a decent but flawed hygrometer. I think for the money I can live with the problems, but there must be a better model out there somewhere!
Average based adjustable knob does not work all that well
September 1, 2013
I have two hygroset II's, 1 hydroset I, and 1 oasis hygrometer, and 1 plain old wall humidity/temperature $9.99 special all bought within the last 45 days. I followed the directions with the planet wave one step calibration kit. All the hygroset's after 36 hours in the bag showed 83% and 81%. I turned the adjustable knob till it would not turn again and still did not get it down to 75%. I tried more than once to redo the process. The Oasis hygrometer does not have a adjustable knob but Martin Guitars recommended it, so I bought it.I decided to buy a dehumidifier as florida weather in the rainy season is high. Today 9/1/13 - I ran the dehumidifer for awhile and the results are as follows: Hydroset I meter shows 51% on my table top, the oasis meter shows 47% on the bookcase, the two hydrosets in the two electric guitar cases - one shows 54% and the other 55% and the low priced temperature and humidifer which hangs on the wall shows 55%. The case may be keeping the enclosed air slightly higher in humidity? Guitars need humidity that is within the 45 to 55% humidity range. I have a new acoustic that I will use the planet wave humidity pack control and I will put in the oasis meter in that case this week. Everything I read about protecting Guitars and humidity was kept them in the case when your not playing them. Do not hang your guitars on the wall or leave them out too long.My Dehumidifer has a humidity thermostat but it appears not to be working as it is registering 36% humidit today. I just bought it about 3 weeks ago and it was draining tons of water out of my "guitar room" but now it appears to be off in registering the correct humidity. I basically lower the thermostat on the dehumidifier until it starts to take out water and then use all the other theromstat's as a guideline for when to shut it off the dehumidifier.

Put 2 of these in with a dozen cigars in a Quality Importers Desktop HUM-25EL. After multiple cups of distilled water sitting in the humidor and staying at 70% with the water I thought it would be good. With just these tubes alone, the humidity will not stay above 60 percent at 75-80 degrees even without opening the humidor. (I monitor through the glass and have an electric and built in humidity meter.) After a few months, the tubes still don't need water added. I wish they would at least dry out and keep the humidity up.
Try something else or buy 2 for every 25 cigars capacity.
April 7, 2015
Put the two in my 50 cigar humidor (less than half full), Humidity dropped to 50%. Was using the Boveda 70% packs without issue. Re-seasoned humidor at 84% for a few weeks. Put these back in, and still back to 50%. Added several shot glasses of water with these and humidty went up to 80%. Was able to maintain 70% only with a couple shot glasses full of water in addition to these. I don't know if for some reason I need more of them, they are defective, or just junk. Never had an issue with the Boveda packs just got tired of having to buy 2 new packs every 3 months. My suggestion is to try something else or buy 2-4 of these for every 25 cigars your humidor can hold.Update- the included instructions said 2 per 50 cigars but I'm noticing the wording on the site now seems to reflect 2 per 25, though not directly.

Nice looking, poor quality (also need to spend another $30 to maybe make it work)
September 30, 2017
Externally the product looks nice, but it doesn't work and the workmanship is poor. The humidity meter was installed crooked and it didn't work. The worst is that in the paperwork that comes with the product, it gives suggestions on how to cure or prepare the product before the first use.I spent additional $30 following their recommendations and still didn't work.Of course, the extra products and money needed to make it work are not mentioned in the description.

June 13, 2017
I got my humidor box. Noticed the humidifier temperature gauge was not fully flush into the box and the glass had a light fracture. I season the box as instructed. It gets up to about 75% and by the next morning drops down to about 60%. As for the for the sponge it dose not absorb well and leaked into the box and it didn't allow my box to close all the way. Nice box, but I would not put go quality cigars inside it. I can add photo of the fracture temp gauge if requested.

May 18, 2017
I really think I should have listened to the other reviewers when they said "you get what you pay for." I didn't really mind (I thought), but this thing just does NOT keep proper humidity. I currently have the humidifier that comes with it (which, by the way, didn't really take water for the first 4 months), a Xikar crystal humidifier, and a shot glass full of distilled water in it just to keep the humidity at the proper level. The hygrometer with this is off by 10%, then you'll readjust it, and it suddenly is off by 10% in the other direction. I seasoned this in every way that I could find online, made sure I calibrated the hygrometer, and I'm just not impressed. Should have just shelled out for a more quality product.
Good humidor, Bad Hygrometer, Broken Seal.
April 18, 2017
Would be five starst if it were not because of the hygrometer being broken straight out of the box.Other than that, I can't fault the humidor.EDIT: Changed from three to two. It's been three full weeks after seasoning the humidor and the outside humidity and the humidor humidity are the same. Which means that this unit does not seal properly. No matter what I do, both outside humidity and inside humidity are always the same. This is no better that a regular cigar box, only that is better looking.
Ok.
February 18, 2016
For the price it is probably worth it, but it probably makes sense to go ahead and buy a larger and more expensive humidor if you are going to take your cigars humidity seriously. It doesn't regulate humidity well. I put in 4 Boveda 85% 60 gram packs and it never exceeded 72%. Granted that is too high to store cigars, I swapped to 72% Bovedas and the humidity never reached 64%. I like my cigars at 67RH, so with some adjusting, you can get this thing stable at that - but it takes a lot of work because the bottom portion of the humidor is thin - allowing for leaks.I am buying a $200 one when I get my collection beyond 10. This won't hold more than 25.
Won't hold humidity
August 22, 2015
Although this Humidor is very nicely made and attractive, it does not hold humidity well at all. I live in Montana, very dry, and the only way I could keep this anywhere close to 70% humidity was to have two Boveda 84 humidity packs in it at all times. Two humidity pucks with distilled water or humidor solution could not get it over 62%. I assumed it was just how it had to be living in such a dry climate, but I finally bought a different humidor without the glass top and it is a world of difference. With just the regular humidity pucks it stays at 70-71% for a couple of weeks. This is not a bad starter because of the price and looks, but I would not recommend it for long time use.

Keep looking
March 4, 2017
My first humi. I have a few others now and this one doesn't seal as well as the others. It looks nice and hygrometer seems to keep fairly accurate. FYI - If your new to cigars and looking for your first humi get at least a 75 count. You will fill it quickly. Most cigar sites offer free 25-50 sized humis with some sort of purchase.
Doesn't hold humidity.
December 26, 2016
Seal isn't tight enough to hold in humidity. Using a 69% Boveda pack, and two different hygrometers (the one that came with it and an electric one) are both reading at about 55%.
Get what you pay for

Seasoned humidor multiple times but won't maintain humidity. (Seasoned with Boveda 84% packs for 2 weeks) Hygrometer is fairly accurate and can be adjusted. Does not seal well.
You get what you pay for...
August 22, 2016
The true test of a good humidor... Open the lid, let go of lid. If the lid slams shut, then the sealing is poor and it will be hard to keep humid. If the lid drops, but then slow down like its on shocks, then that is the air dampening the lid and therefore you will have a great seal. In my case, the lid slams shut and I am quite surprised the glass didn't break. After seasoning my box per instructions, at best using the included humidifier and added Drymistat, I cannot get better than 60% humidity at anytime. If you invest money into enough cigars to even fill this box half of the way, then don't go the cheap way out and spend a little more on a good humidifier. I can say this is a very nice box with a nice glass, cedar lining, blah blah blah.. but what good is it if it doesn't seal and keep your cigars fresh? If you want a nice box for $25 that won't keep your cigars fresh, then this is it!
Hard to increase humidity
May 29, 2014
For whatever reason, I cannot get this box to stay above 60% humidity. That being said, the dial on the front isn't accurate either.

March 23, 2014
Box won't hold proper humidity after more than a week of conditioning using water and the humidifier disk. Gauge won't read higher than 50% humidity. Calibrating the gauge is problematic. Followed the instructions with the damp salt and a plastic baggie. The gauge read 85% after several hours. If I had set the gauge back to 75% per the instructions then the box humidity would have read even lower than it was supposed to. Tried again with a larger baggie (the instructions don's specify how large of a bag to use) and the gauge read 65% after several hours. The box does look good though. Someday I'll get a digital gauge and check what the humidity really is. I should note that I live in Tucson where humidity is typically only about 20% so maybe the box is no good in dry climates.

Ordered two: calibration knob didn't work at all.
June 1, 2017
The only reason this isn't getting 0 stars is because I have one of these arriving as a replacement and who knows... maybe it will work.Out of box, these didn't work. Calibration knob did nothing: didn't change read-out at all. There was also a 5 point difference on their read-outs. A bad sign.So why am I only returning one? I ordered two at the same time: Amazon's return sheet only lists one to pack and return (and I am guessing that I'll only be receiving one), so I'll simply have to make a mental note on the one I'm keeping.

Inaccurate and difficult to calibrate. I placed the hygrometer in a Boveda sealed pack for 24 hours. Off from the stated calibration level by 10 degrees. I set it inside my humidor which has an existing analog that I wanted to ensure was calibrated. I could not calibrate the analog as it's integrated in the lid of the humidor. Still 10 degrees off. I tried calibrating. Difficult to say the least. I've sealed it back up in the Boveda and it's now 5 degrees off. Going to give it another 24 hours in the Boveda pack and see. Will try to calibrate again. Not near what I expected.
Calibrate it, Calibrate it, ehh dont bother its going to drift around. Better move on to the next one on the list.
May 25, 2016
The calibration feature is a pain in the @$$. There are numerous ones out there that you do not need to calibrate however this one you do. I was lazy and said Hey that looks like the one I have in my box, I will order another one. Guess what, its not the one I had and I received what I ordered. The directions tell you to put it in the plastic bag it was sent it. Really the bag its sent in is glued. So when you open the bag it tears real bad. Guess what you can use that bag. I took it to my local cigar shop and they calibrated it for me. They adjusted it so it would say what their high end ones reads. Then after 24 hours adjust it again to mirror theirs. But wait another 24 hours and it still doesnt stay on target. Otherwords this unit reads what ever it wants to. If you have a low dollar collection of cigars (.99) then this is for you. However I would even then tell you to avoid this one like the plague.
Came with a dead battery or is a broken unit
July 17, 2015
Didn't work when I got it, so it either came with a dead battery or it's not functional. Therefore, I really can't comment on its quality. In two weeks, I haven't had the chance to stop at Walgreens just for a replacement battery, so I still don't know if it actually works. Shipping a product with dead battery is enough for me to be unhappy with the product.
New version or knockoff doesn't work as well as originals
July 29, 2014
I purchased two of these units over a year ago and both continue to work fine and are accurate. About 3 months ago, I purchased two more and have had issues with calibration and staying powered on. After looking at the units more closely, I noticed that the two I received three months ago appear to be knockoffs or at least are measurably different from the 1 year old ones; they do not have "www.hygroset.com" on the battery compartment door (as the old ones do) and the battery is a different size (357a for the original, CR2032 for the new crappy ones). Looking at the front there is no way to tell but I'm interested in hearing if others have had the same issues with the "newer" version. See picture in user uploaded pictures above.
Worked well. Doesn't work so well now.
March 9, 2012
I received the unit with a calibration kit so I calibrated it right out of the box. Getting an accurate reading was the reason I bought this tool. The screen was easy to read and I actually didn't have to calibrate anything. After over 24 Hours in the calibration bag the hydrometer was reading within 0.5% of the appropriate humidity level. Sweet, couldn't be happier. Everything just works and I got it at a fair price.About 3 - 4 weeks after I started using the hydrometer, the screen goes bad. I don't remember if this thing had a back light but one day when I was checking on my terrarium, I found myself struggling to make a reading. I ended up needing to actually detach the hydrometer and bring it out to look at. Over a course of a day or so, the contrast on the screen became progressively worse - making it practically impossible to make a reading from less than 2 feet away while looking through one side of a clear plastic terrarium.I paid about $20 for the hydrometer and the calibration kit and felt like I got a good deal. Now that the screen is this bad I really feel like I've been conned. The only reason this isn't getting 1 star is because the screen still does actually work to some degree (pulling it out of my container and angling it in a favorable way with the light) and outputs(what I think are) accurate readings. Can't have cheap and quality at the same time, it seems. I'll be making sure that I buy from an American company the next time I look for another hydrometer.[edit]Thanks to Bass Guru for reminding me to update my review. I forgot to mention that I confirmed that the issue was not battery related. That was the first thing I checked. I replaced the battery with a brand new one and it changed nothing. Still a very dark reading on the screen. I checked both the old and new battery on my multimeter and both had correct voltage readings. I can only conclude that it is indeed the hydrometer hardware.

Want to completely waste your time? If so, buy this product. It will definitely waste your time and money !
September 26, 2017
WORTHLESS !! WASTE of time and money. Product arrives in a slimy plastic wrap with no instructions. I went online and carefully followed what instructions were available, Almost impossible to fill the tube with any distilled water and when I was able to add ANY distilled water, humidity level in my humidor decreased to 67% in a matter of a few days. I added a second Drymistat and it did absolutely nothing. I now have to make a trip to my quality cigar store 30 minutes away for a quality humidifying device. To make matters ever WORSE, Amazon tells me this product does NOT qualify for a return. What a piece of ****.
Arrived in a gooey ooze.
August 30, 2017
My tubes arrived covered in a gooey ooze inside a sandwich bag. Not sure if they were broken or that is the way they are supposed to be? First time so not sure how to use these. No instructions were provided, but from what I read you were supposed to add water and place them in a humidifier. I cleaned them off in water but they still seem to be leaking something similar to the consistency of petroleum jelly.
Humidor came in broken
August 13, 2017
The shipping was great, but unfortunately the packaging was not up to par. The humidor arrived crushed about a fourth of the way down. It was crushed so badly that tye tubes were cracked and the water would constantly leak out underneath the refill line. Both tubes were broken in the same spot, so they are both unusable due to the liquid leaking onto the cigars. I would not recommend this humidor because it is also non-returnable.
Couldn't provide enough humidity for me
September 9, 2016
This thing just can't keep the humidity level even with two sticks in a small size humidor (up to 25~50 cigars) with only 5 cigars in it. removed the seal cap per instruction online, and put the vented cap back on and the crystals are at the right levels, but still humidity plummeted to low 60%. after giving it the benefits of the doubt for two days, i switched back to the old generic puck. if this worked for you great. but it just didn't work for me.gonna try something else.
Doesn't work!

Useless! I have a size 50 cigar humidor I used both tubes in humidor with 15 cigars and never brought humidor above 60%. Whats the point?

January 25, 2016
These really don't do much at all. Not sure why all the good reviews. Im using them as extra humidification since the winter weather in Massachusetts is draining the humidity out of my humidor. I have a small humidor, about 300 cubic inches. At first I added one to it while keeping the other humidifier I already have in. No help. I then added a second one and still not much help. The two combined only raised the RH about 1 or 2%. Going to just order a different product somewhere else.

Box arrived on time and in good condition except a missing screw in one hinge. Seasoned for 2 weeks with 4 - 84% humidity Boveda, 60 gram packs (should have been overkill for seasoning this size box). Over the two weeks I had a calibrated digital hygrometer inside, and had calibrated the front hygrometer to keep an eye on. Highest reading was 78%. Even put a 5lb book on the top. After 2 weeks as instructed, I put 20 sticks in. Sat at 70% for one day, and after 3 days was at only 63%. This is with 2 - 70% Drymistat tubes and a 72% boveda pack. Not happy at all. Now my sticks are in a large glass jar with hinged lid and sticks are holding a solid 70% humidity as they should. Box looks much nicer than the jar, but I don't care about looks over the taste and care of the cigars.
Does hold humidity
July 16, 2017
Bought this for my husband for Xmas and no matter what he does it won't hold. Sorry I wasted the money.
Won't keep humidity
May 31, 2017
I got this to keep some cigars in, but can't get the box to sit above 50. I have three humidifiers in it but still won't get it in the 60-70 zone. WTF??
Not so great quality.
May 12, 2017
I am not very happy with this purchase. The first box that we ordered came cracked so we had to return it. After barely owning a new one and opening it maybe once every other week the hinge on the left side broke . We have some very expensive cigars kept in this box and now they will be ruined. I wish we would've gotten a nicer box.
Don't buy this!! You get what you pay for!!
February 12, 2017
On the outside, it's a very nice looking humidor. As for the rest of it, the humidifier is a piece of junk, just throw it away. After properly seasoning it and waiting almost 2 months, it still does not hold humidity. The instructions that come with it state that it can take up to 2 months to properly hold the humidity. After giving it the necessary time, it does not hold humidity and now it is too late to return it. I'm stuck with a useless box.
Disappointing product given the basic function isn't possible.
September 7, 2016
The box itself is decent quality however the humidifier is too big meaning you cut actually close the box completely and the hydrometer is very off. After following the instructions to setup the humidor the supposed humidity was off by 20. This is concerning but it is adjustable so perhaps not a big issue. The fact that I can't close the humidor if I want to use the humidifier is extremely frustrating. I assume given the price-point I should expect much but having a humidor that doesn't completely close is useless. I don't recommend this product unless you're simply looking for a box.

February 16, 2016
I purchased this back in December. Finally got around to setting it up a few weeks ago. Ran the salt test to make sure the hygrometer was dialed in and it was. Added a drymistat tube with recommended amount of distilled water to the humidor and I was never able to crack 50 % humidity. I took the same tube and threw it into a ziplock bag and it made it to 70%. After a little research I performed the dollar bill test and one side of the humidor failed miserably. I'm now outside of the 30 day return window so it looks like I'm stuck with it.

Defected?
December 30, 2015
I was very excited to receive my humidor. When I finally received, I opened it and the glass was not stable or in place. The 4 wooded pieces that hold it in place were off and the glass was loose. I tried putting it back together but the wooden pieces do not fit correctly to hold the glass in place. My cousin purchased the same humidor and his is perfectly fine. Maybe I received a defected one I'm not sure? I will be sending this back and hoping to receive a good one. If the one I receive is no good, then on to a different product.

Horrible
August 17, 2017
I have 2 of these I bought within a short timespan. One arrived and wouldn't switch from Celsius to Fahrenheit so they sent a replacement. So then i had 3, figured I'd just use the one for hygro readings. Within a year or two one wouldn't work without a spacer between the battery cover and battery. None of the three will adjust and read 10-15 points low on the hygrometer after doing the salt test.
Waste of money really
March 2, 2017
Doesn't work. The Humidity Adjustment knob doesn't move the humidity scale. I had this in my humidor and I thought it was accurate, but, it wasn't even close. Got an analog version and dialed it in with the salt test. Waste of money really.
DO NOT BUY - NOT ACCURATE BY A LOT - NO ADJUSTMENT
October 4, 2016
These do not work. I have several humidity meters and hygrometers and the 2 of these that I bought does not match any of my other meters. I even tried doing the adjustment button for 3 days and that button is useless. There is actually a few times I would turn it one direction and the numbers would go up or down in the opposite direction. I've taken a picture after 24 hours in a container with 2 trust calibrated accurate meters and the 2 of these I bought, and after 24 hours both hygrometers are terribly wrong. One is almost 10points above the humidity and the other is almost 10 points below the humidity, and both knobs all the way right or left where they can't be adjusted lower or higher where it needs to be. Also one of the hygrometers wouldn't turn on when I pulled that battery tab out, I had to put a folded up piece of paper against the battery to get this to even turn on. I am returning these. And getting another Caliber IV Digital Hygromter by Western Humidor, which has been completely accurate without any issues or need for adjustments. Tried to buy something that was cheaper, bad mistake. You get what you pay for.
NOT ACCURATE, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!
December 12, 2015
This hygrometer is simply garbage. After waiting 2 days (thankfully due to Prime membership) for the order to arrive. I wasted 2 days calibrating this piece of junk, only to find that the adjustment knob was ineffective. It did not matter which direction you moved it, the device would not adjust readings as stated. It's inaccuracy as verified in part by the Boveda calibration kit showed it to be off with regard to both readings. The temperature was not within 1 degree; it was off 4 degrees. The RH was off 4%, not within the 0.3% suggested by the operating instructions. All in all it has been a waste of time. I now need another hygrometer to replace this and ensure my cigars are being properly humidified in the the humidor.
GARBAGE
September 21, 2014
This is a piece of you know what. Initially it seemed like it was working. I purchased it for my humidor, which is sealed pretty good for a humidor. Not too tight or too loose. Within days it started varying a lot (80%/50%, stuck on 0% for a week or so, then stuck on 99% ever since). Sparing you the details, there is no way it is 99%. I live in the desert and it is not that humid here. I took an analog hygrometer out of my gun safe and put it in my humidor and it indicated 68%, which sounds about right. This item still says 99% to this day, every day for the last month or so. Unfortunately, I work a lot and did not get around to returning the item within the 30 days (it has been about 70 days), so I cannot return it. Do not waste your money. If this one was this erratic, I can imagine that even units that seems to be working may be way off. You have been warned, GARBAGE. (And yes, I have tried to recalibrate it with a recalibration kit. No luck.)
Small & cheap
February 9, 2014
Yes, it's small, cheap, and adjustable. However, while it was calibrated when I first got it, it required recalibration within 2 months. After that, I noticed it seemed off again about a month later and re-calibrated it a second time. This time the adjustment is maxed out and it still only reads 70% in a wet-salt calibrator after 48 hours at 70 degrees F. I'd pay double for one that lasts, but one that doesn't is worth nothing. I'm still looking for a good one.For those reading this, I should note that I have taken to providing reviews on products after several months of use, rather than right away as I did years ago. In the first month of use I would have given it 5 stars. Now, 1 star is too much. I wonder how many of those folks who gave it 5 stars would like to change them. Who knows? Maybe I just got a bad one. And, after all, what do you expect for $17? I thought it was worth the chance, and maybe I would get a good one. Well, maybe not so much.
