Great for the Desert
August 1, 2017
Took this to Joshua Tree National Park (Colorado Desert and the Mojave Desert) where it was hot (92-117 F) as all can be in late July. Opening of the hydration back pack was perfect for loading full of hotel ice cubes! Each day we went out was easy to load it up..add a bit of cold water and had great cold water for better part of the day. Comfortable to wear easy to fill. Only thing never got used to was the rubber mouth piece...so we kept taking it off as was easy to do. Pouch in back had some room for selfie sticks but not much more otherwise, would highly recommend if anyone is looking into a hydration back pack and not "hooked" on other name brand.
I needed a sturdy water pack for daily hiking trips
November 8, 2015
I needed a sturdy water pack for daily hiking trips. Since I carry all of my equipment in a vest, I had no need for a backpack and I didn't want to carry a water bottle around. This thing carries about 2 litres which, for a simple day hiking or a quick run, is more than enough. I've yet to run out and that's with me basically keeping the tube between my lips and having a drink every minute or so. Both of the straps adjust perfectly and running or climbing hills it doesn't bounce at all.The bladder has a big opening to fill. It's big enough that I fill about half of it with water and the other half with ice cubes so I have cold water all day long. The mesh on the back is big enough to carry either a book should I want to stop and read for a while or my first-aid kit if I don't feel like shoving it in my vest.It would be easy to pay $40+ for a Columbia or other well-known brand of hydration backpacks which carry the exact same amount or less. This is really quite the bargain. My only complaint is that I wish it was a tiny bit thicker so I could carry even a few more things in the net part on the back.
Helped me survive a 4 hour hike and kept water cold!
July 26, 2015
I love this pack. I bought two (for myself and my SO) because carrying water bottles during hikes was becoming a hassle. I was hesitant on choosing this particular backpack because of some of the reviews about the bite valve. I had never had a backpack like this, so when I got it, I started testing out the bite valve and thought that it was super hard to suck the water out, but then I realized that you had to pull the valve base up for it to open! Then the water comes out with no problem! We went on a 4 hour hike this weekend, which turned out to be about 10 miles with hills, and the water stayed cool inside the backpack the entire time! We put ice cubes in the beginning. We still had a bunch of water left in the end.The front pocket was able to carry a sprayable sunblock and a little sunblock for one pack, and a bunch of snacks for the other pack, as well as both of our phones. There are 2 straps in the front for stabilization of the backpack itself, and I was able to tie a handkerchief and a visor on them. The only con that I can see for this backpack is that the water stays in the hose, but you can either push it back up the straw or just deal with it and keep drinking until you get cold water again.

.This is a great hydration pack with tons of features at a great price. I also purchased a high sierra wave 70 and greatly prefer the design of the Teton hydration pack.It comes with a sternum strap and hip strap to keep the straps from sliding off and stabilizing the load. The mesh pocket in the front is big enough to fit a sandwich and some snacks. The bungee cord in the front also gives you the option to stash a light jacket/windbreaker for cooler weather activities. The bladder is easy to fill to the top without spillage and easy to close. The only thing I dislike about this pack compared to the other pack I purchased the flow rate for the bite valve seems to be slower. Not a big deal if you're hiking but might be annoying if you're trail running.
Theme park envy
April 30, 2014
Having a wife who is sadistically obsessed with Disney World and its affiliates, I decided I needed a way to stay hydrated in the blazing Florida sun as I parade around the theme parks like a well trained dog. This thing saved my life and kept maleficent and our minions hydrated.
trailrunner 2.0

After having read the reviews on this saying that it constantly leaked I was a little hesitant on purchasing this, but I needed a hydration pack for my marathon and I didn't want to spend 60$ on an expensive one. When it arrived I opened it up, and was very pleased. It is nice and light, as well as sturdy. The bladder feels good as well, however it did have a very plasticy taste. I ended up leaving it soaking overnight with a little bit of bleach, water, and lemon juice then rinsing it out thoroughly!! and the taste has not come back since. In all of the time I have used it to run, I think it has dribbled a few drops of water(contrary to some reviews), but as long as it is locked it has NEVER leaked anything. I do dislike that the water in the tube doesn't stay cold, but I read a little trick where you blow into the tube after you are done drinking, to send the water back into the bladder, and keep it nice and cold when I need it =).The small net compartment is cool, and it fits my lanyard and keys, wallet, as well as my cell phone. I have started to use this every time I go running instead of just for my 5k's since it is so much easier than trying to carry all my items in my pocket or hands, and a water bottle, plus it is so light(even when the bladder is full)I jog anywhere from 12-16 miles a week and it is still holding up great. all in all a great purchase and i definitely recommend this for any running enthusiast.

Highest Value, Amazing Entry-Level Hydration Pack & Good Pack to Bring on a Spartan Race/OCR
May 2, 2016
This pack is not perfect, but it's value is ridiculous and that's why I'm giving it 5 stars. This is a long, in-depth review for a $35 pack that I've used for ~8 months for mountain biking, running, and hiking, but I'll be covering pretty much everything. Also, I am 6', 230lb guy with a 48" chest, so I'm definitely a bigger user. Before I owned this pack, I bought another one (similar style) from High Sierra about 7-8 years ago and it is still usable, it's my other loaner now and in great working condition, even after years of mostly mountain biking and hiking. I have also used this pack for about 8 months and it's proven to me to be extremely durable. I primarily got this pack to be a trasher/loaner pack I can bring to Spartan Races and not worry about it getting destroyed (which it hasn't been!)I'll start with a TL;DR Recommendation, This bag is for:Someone who is getting into hiking, biking, or trail running and doesn't want to spend a lot while still getting a VERY usable product that will last. You can keep it as a back-up and loaner to give on buddies who join you. Or, someone who wants a beater bag to bring to a Spartan Race/Other OCR without ruining a $100+ pack. This bag is not for:Someone who absolutely knows they want a high-performance product with features like, mesh/vents, front pockets, hip pockets, perfect fit (especially for runners), trekking pole attachments, etc. For that, I'd direct you to Ultimate Direction and Nathan.CompartmentsThe hydration bladder routes through the right shoulder and has a full zipper pouch that allows you to "seal off" the shoulder and protect the bite valve, this is a nifty feature, but it only works for smaller sized bite valves, it will not fit a Platypus bite valve. The Hydration bladder pouch can fit up to a 3 Liter bladder (I use the Platypus Big Zip 3 L) which I think is ridiculously awesome. There is also a little plastic carabiner to hold the bladder. All the zippers on this bag are not the highest quality, so zipping up this pocket is a pain, but you zip it up once and you're good. The big main compartment has no pockets, which is alright, but causes a lot of things to fall down and pile up at the bottom of the back, which can be slightly uncomfortable, but if you pack it up smartly, cinch it down and put it on, I found nothing will move around. I can carry a wallet, med kit, food, headlamp, hat, 1L nalgene, and big winter gloves in the big compartment (This is with ~2L in the bladder as well). In the smaller compartment, there are a few smaller pockets and a little carabiner for car keys or a light. There is a pocket that is perfect for a phone (I can fit 2 iphone 6's in here). The other two I use for a tiny bug spray bottle and a pocket knife. The smaller compartment also has a headphone cable slot. There is also a medium-sized pouch between the compartments with mesh on the walls, but it is open and the only way to close it is with the cinch straps on each side, I don't trust this pouch to hold much, so I usually use it to hold trash I find on the trail like water bottles and plastic bags.FitThe bag fit is not the best, it's passable, though. For hiking and mountain biking it's great, it's a little annoying for running, because there is no real elastic on the straps, so you must either tighten it down to prevent movement or let it be looser and give yourself some more mobility. The shoulder straps do get uncomfortable after a long hike. The sternum strap has a bit of elastic on it which is good and is on rails so you can slide it up and down. If you pull on the sternum strap too hard, it will pop off the rails and you have to fiddle with it to put it back on. The hip straps are a personal preference, sometimes I use them when running, but, again, you must decide between restricting the packs movement or allowing yourself more mobility. As you drink water you will have to readjust the pack to be snug, this happens with all hydration packs, though.Hydration BladderIt comes with a 2L Bladder that is, I even still have mine from 8 years ago, and the only problem is the bite valve has failed and it leaks everywhere. The bladder is OK at best, it's easy to clean and functions, the only major problems are the bite valve feels cheap and can leak a bit and there is a bit of a plasticy taste, that will go away over time. The Hose-Bladder connection is also not a quick-connect which can make cleaning harder, but it's not a problem for me, I usually just leave the hose on anyway.I would recommend replacing the bladder with a $20 one from Platypus or Camelbak.

I am a geologist and I hike a lot. This is my third camelbak backpack and it is hands down my favorite. It is a nice small size but with a good sized camelbak pouch. There is a very useful strap that goes around your chest which Is very useful. The only improvement i would want is that I wish it had open side pouches on the sides to hold extra water bottles and other things. The inside zipper pouches are a good size. They aren't too small. You can extend the open pouch in the middle of the bag to make it larger or smaller. Overall, I like it very much.
Great bag for the price.
June 26, 2015
I'm mountain bike about 2-3 times a week, and this is perfect for short trips (5-10 miles). Anything longer and you might want to consider a slightly larger bladder. On a typical ride, I carry 2 29" tubes, a first aid kit, emergency poncho, emergency whistle, a multi tool, protein bars, 2 CO2 canisters and valve, and a few other various items with room to spare. I can even still fit my helmet in the front, latching, section with everything else in it. The larger compartment reaches to the bottom of the pouch and holds a considerable amount of stuff. I put the items I don't need regularly (tubes, first aid, etc.) in there. I put protein bars, my keys, and my multi tool in the smaller pouch for easy access. At first, I was skeptical of the way you fill the bladder. You fold the bag over and slide a locking part into the fold. I didn't know how secure it would be, as I'm used to the screw on lid of a CamelBak. It has held up well, and is easy to put ice into. It also makes it really easy to clean. It actually feels really secure once you see it and feel it go on. I usually fill up about 1/3 with ice, then 2/3 with water. After I do that, I flip the bladder over to where the straw part is on top, then suck out the remaining bit of air. It is a bit more compact this way and works well for me.I researched a lot of hydration packs in this price range and am very happy with my decision to go with this one.
Love this bag and at a fraction of the price ...
May 3, 2015
Took this bag out today on a single track mtb ride. Had enough room to pack the following:Screwed riverSet of Allen keysPressure gauge2 tire leversPatch kit2 spare tubesWalletPhoneCar keysOh, and did I mention I had a liter an a half of water in the pack's bladder?!I had room for plenty more, possibly a first aid kit as I'm an EMT/Firefighter and I'm always coming up on injured riders on the trials. Love this bag and at a fraction of the price of a camelbak?! It's a steal. Comfortable, doesn't shift while riding and the stitching is high quality. I can see this bag lasting a long time and you can bet it's coming with me every time I hit the trails.
Great hydration pack for offroad/trail dirtbike use
March 10, 2015
I had been researching packs for a while prior to buying this one. Based on the price I had to give this one a shot. Most reviews we written in the perspective of road bike use (cycling), but I am using this when I ride my dirtbike (trail riding, deep woods use). I used this bag for a 4 hour ride and was very happy with it. I filled the bladder about 75% full (half-ice/half water) and had plenty to drink, the water stayed cold the entire time and the bite valve worked well on the first use - no plastic flavor/smell. With the bladder filled I still had plenty of storage space left, I carry trail tools plus cell phone, keys, wallet etc. and I could've easily fit a good deal more (back up Jersey/shirt etc.) without feeling bulky.I highly recommend buying this for offroad use in place of the pricier options ($60+) marketed specifically for dirtbike riders.
Highly recommended alternative to pricier competitor models.

Now that I've had this a few months, and have used it for various tasks, I feel confident in saying this is definitely worth your money. Pro-tip: Fill the bladder 3/4 with crushed and cubed ice first, then add water. Then pack anything else you want to keep cool in the main pack.It not only holds 2 L of water [approx 1/2 gallon], but in addition, three cans of (adult beverage), three sandwiches, a few cups of trail mix, a rain jacket/windbreaker, change of socks & shirt, compass, USB backup power supply, flashlight and spare batteries. Basically everything you might need & want for a day-hike. It served me very well hiking in Yosemite this summer. When you aren't on the trail take the water bladder out and you can carry your tablet/ small notebook and associated cables & accessories, keys, pens, lunch and a light jacket.

Good Minimal Hiking Backpack - Limited Space
September 17, 2017
Good minimal hiking backpackLook: Not too obtrusive, but it does not sit flat, you will look like Bowser if you put this under your jacket. The hose doesn't crimp when using normally, but it does hand down and kinda swings when not in use (haven't found a holster for it yet). You can carry a FEW things in the mesh compartment on the back, and you will be exposing your valuables to anyone hiking behind you. Things I've carried in the mesh pocket: 3 protein bars OR a Sun Screen spray can OR an extra water bottle OR a ziplock of fruit. If you want to picnic when you reach your summit, you will need a different backpack, this will only hold enough for 2-4 snacks (at the most)
It's a good size, has both chest and waist adjustment straps
August 29, 2017
Used for OCR (Tough Mudder) and a long distance run (13.1 miles). It's a good size, has both chest and waist adjustment straps, feels solid and easy to wash. I have to take off a star though because there are no zippered compartments. You can tighten the bungee a bit if you want to put something in the outer mesh pocket, but don't put anything valuable because it's only got an elastic on top.
Awesome hydration pack for the price!
May 9, 2017
I paid $23 which was a great price and now its $19! I needed a water bag for mountain biking. I didn't want to spend $60 for the name brands. This was my first pack and it works just fine for what I need. I've used it on five long rides with no leaks or issues. It is a little tricky to fill because you have to pull the bladder out of the pack but the tube is still connected (you could remove the whole thing but that would require replacing it after filling). Still, nothing that difficult. The hose is a bit long and hangs down kind of low. I could probably push it back in the pack and loop it or something but just haven't taken the time to try it. Again, not a deal breaker. The mouth piece took some getting used to to get water flowing, but once you do, its pretty easy. Recommended. I am going to buy a spare while they are $19.
The first few sips were the worst because the water was warm from the tube
February 27, 2017
Brought 3 of these for a 15 mile scouting bike ride in the Everglades. Able to put snacks in the back along with poncho. Only downside is the plasticy taste to the water. I put hot water with vinegar in it and let it sit overnight. I then added water with a couple Tbsp. of bleach and let it sit overnight. THEN, I added water with around an ounce of lemon juice and let it sit overnight. Still the water had THAT taste. The first few sips were the worst because the water was warm from the tube. As the water from the reservoir reached me it was cooler and slightly less plastic taste, but still there. Don't know if it will go away with time. But it was light. Didn't bobble around.
Teton Sports Trailrunner Hydration Pack
August 29, 2016
When the hydration pack came in I couldn't wait to use it on my next long run because the belt with two 10oz bottles wasn't cutting it in the heat and the distance. It is not difficult to operate, but I didn't try it beforehand. I should have worn it around the house or walks with the dog just to make sure I was used to the fit and understood how to get enough water out of it. Instead, I adjusted it and figured out how to use it for a first time on a 15 mile run in the heat. Totally my fault. On another note, it took several washes to remove the taste of plastic and chemicals. Also not good to find out on a first run after only washing it once.Enough with my errors and on with the product. The pack fits well and when filled it was comfortable on my back and with the straps it did not bounce around on my back. The water flow is fine when you are walking or hiking, but on a run when I wanted (needed) more water per sip, the water flow seemed deficient. The bladder volume was fine for me on runs and hikes in the 16 mile range.
Good hydration pack for active use
August 15, 2016
The chest strap was a big reason I picked this pack over others, however I've found that I don't typically need the chest strap when running unless I'm doing a lot of zig-zagging around/over/between obstacles. The chest strap WILL damage synthetic running shirts when it rubs on them. Next time I need to use that strap I'll see about putting a sleeve of softer material over it to save my shirt. There isn't much room for anything other than the water in this pack, and I wasn't expecting much. The interior is essentially completely filled by the water bladder. The outer pocket has room for a few thin items, and the elastic cord can handle a thin rain shell, but if you have anything more than that you'll be struggling to find a place to put it. In my case I wanted to carry my phone, a bar to snack on, and a 5oz sports drink in a soft container. I had trouble getting everything to fit when the bladder was full, and kept stopping to check that nothing fell out during my run.The bite nozzle can be a bit frustrating. With just the right bite you can get a decent amount of water through it, but if you're looking for a quick satisfying gulp before getting back to breathing you may be disappointed. I can see how anyone not breathing quickly would be fine with it but I'm considering making some modifications to mine.

Awesome! Gets job done.
April 13, 2017
Bought it like 2 years back for EDC in Vegas and worked like a charm. Just make sure you keep filling up! Many pockets and its comfortable and not heavy. Opt for a bigger water pouch if you can though. Mouth piece is kinda fragile so dont bite down too hard on it if ya know what I mean..
The backpack is great. I really enjoy running and biking with it
January 27, 2017
The backpack is great. I really enjoy running and biking with it.The bladder is so so. it tends to leak unless you mess with the mouthpiece a little until you hit the right spot, but this can be a little annoying at times. Also, it did taste like plastic for the first few times. but it is easy to fill and I never had leaks from the bladder its self. I will probably be replacing it with a better one eventually
It leaks!!
August 1, 2016
Bought for a motorcycle/ family vacation. For the price I'll deal with its flaw.Leaks when I bend over. Leaks any time the mouth piece is lower than the water level. We are not talking a drop or two, if you raise the bag about 1 foot above the mouth piece you will get a stream about 3 foot long. Set the pack on a car seat and it will be wet with in minutes.Kick starting the dirt bike, the pack had to come off for anything over one kick else me and the bike were soaked. If it came with a better mouth piece or a on/off valve, I would give it 5 stars.
I have another product from High Sierra (Full Ruck) and am very pleased with it
May 13, 2016
first thoughts were very impressed by the quality. I have another product from High Sierra (Full Ruck) and am very pleased with it. Only thing im not too thrilled about is the way the reservoir is filled and sealed. Also im not a big fan of the drinking tube actually running through the shoulder material. I have heard of the bite valve leaking for some. I have yet to experience this. I am used to using camel bak products with the thumb valve... not sure if that is something that could be fitted to this hose or not.
Does the job but not meant to carry large helmets.
July 26, 2015
Does what I need it to do with no leaks and no questionable build quality. Just enough storage for various necessities, for a long ride. Storage for a helmet does not work for me because my helmet is a larger skating style helmet. I came up with a way to use some Velcro to secure it to the back if I needed to.
and other then it being extremely dirty, it held up terrifically
May 31, 2015
Used this pack on two Spartan races and plan on using it for several more trail races this summer. Rides securely on your back and distributes the weight evenly. Holds up under sever abuse. Had to through thr pack ahead of me under 120 yards of barb wire, and other then it being extremely dirty, it held up terrifically. My only complaint is the "noozle" rides a little funny during a run smacks into my hand occasionally. Otherwise it's perfect for my trail runs. Just enough storage, while hold more than enough water.

Room for improvement.
July 17, 2017
Overall, I thought this was a good product for the price. However, as others have noted, the water in the pouch tastes a bit like rusty drinking-fountain water. I even tried cleaning it with vinegar to no avail. Also, I had to pull the mouthpiece off the end of the hose to make it work for me -- otherwise, the best I could do was take tiny sips with a great deal of effort. On the plus side, I find the pack comfortable for running as long as I'm not wearing a sleeveless shirt or going shirtless.
Good but not great
July 11, 2017
I purchased this hydration pack to be used during a long hot week at boy scout camp. I found no issues with comfort. The pack fit perfectly after I adjusted the straps. The material of the pack appears to be of good quality.I did find the bladder of the pack to be slightly thin. I found the bladder also a little more difficult to access than when compared to other hydration packs. I would not purchase this pack again, only because I have seen other comparable hydration packs that were easier to add liquid.
Cheap but has flaws...
June 30, 2017
Good points and flaws...This is hard to assign stars to because you have to consider what a bargain it is. I considered the other, more expensive one, and decided to give this a try. For the price, it's amazing. I bought it to stay hydrated while marathon training, so I run with this on my back. It is very comfortable and adjusts in many ways for a customizable fit. I am by no means a small woman, and it is still a little big on me (even on the tightest settings), so it may not work for really slender, small frames.By far the worst thing about it is the bite valve. It is truly awful. I can barely get any water out of it at all! I resorted to taking the valve off and just drinking straight from the tube, which was messy but much more effective. I also tried to purchase a Camelback Big Bite valve to replace it, but it doesn't fit. I will probably end up cutting it or something and just hoping it doesn't leak to much. So, all in all, it's a good pack and a great value. but expect that it will tough to use the bite valve.
This backpack is of decent quality and does exactly what ...
October 3, 2015
This backpack is of decent quality and does exactly what I needed from a hydration pack. I wanted something small and lightweight with minimal storage capacity. Unfortunately, it does leak if you aren't very careful with the spout, it will leak on you. Additionally, I haven't successfully gotten rid of the taste of rubber yet.Either of these issues being resolved would increase the score by a star; both by two.
Slim bag for running or biking, replace the bladder and hose
August 2, 2015
The hose arrived damaged. It was pinched that caused the hose to have a flow blocking kink no matter how I position it which would render the bladder useless. I was able to temporarily repair the hose with a hose clamp to prevent the pinched part of the house from closing up.I purchased a camelbak bladder I intend to put in the bag.Pros: bag is low profile and easy to route the hose. There's a bit of storage in the bag too so you can carry other gear without having a giant bag. I recommend this for someone running or even biking.Cons: the bladderAs I mentioned the hose came pinched which I had to fix with a clamp to keep the hose open. With that I was able to use the bladder on my last ride and it leaks from the mouthpiece. Valve open or closed it leaked pretty much the whole time.
Nice, but not a Camelbak
August 1, 2015
I used the same tricks to get the plastic taste out like I would with a Camelbak, (Cleaning with liquid bleach, dry, add the juice from one freshly squeezed lime and fill with water, set in a refrigerator overnight, then dry again), and there was no discernible plastic taste to my water. One issue I am having which, is why I bring up Camelbak so much, is that the bite bulb performs poorly. Even after blowing enough air into the tube to make me wonder if the bladder would burst, I could only get occasional squirts and dribbles out of the bite bulb. That is totally an issue with the bite bulb since when it was removed water would jet out powerfully enough to put out a very small camp fire.Luckily I had a few spare bite bulbs leftover from when I was in the US Army for my old Camelbak. With a few plumbing like adjustments, I got the Teton Sports TrailRunner 2.0 Hydration Pack working like a champion.I mainly use this for when I am bicycling because those old school bicycle water bottles are a hazard because you have to take your eyes off the road to squirt water in your mouth.

Hydration implimentation very poorly engineered but over all a decent bag otherwise.
June 15, 2017
The waist band is worthless. At least they had a storage location to put it. If your waist is much over 30" there is no way it will work. Far too short. The tube is very poorly designed. If used as intended the mouth piece rubs against your arm. Really needs a clip like camelbak packs use on the shoulder straps. There is a stretch loop that can be used in this manner but won't last long. The mouth piece sucks after being use to camelbak mouth pieces. The mouth valve will easily get stuck open if anything is in the liquid such as ice chips and not anywhere as intuitive as the camelbak mouth pieces. If you find a way to strap the hose down and use a different mouth piece then you may be OK with the hydration pack. The clip that holds the bag is hard to use and may be better to leave the seal piece connected to the clip and just remove the bag its self. (Top folds over and is held closed with a clip that slides over the top. On the good side, ignoring the waist strap and moving the hose around made it OK to use. The backpack large pocket might be able to store a spare 2l hydration pack. The storage seems well thought out and will let me keep some of the frame bags I normally use at home. Ok for use for cycling but needs some modifications due to poor engineering. Adding a second zipper on the inside of the strap would help a bunch. I may have one installed once the elastic strap breaks or may just cut a hole in the side for letting the hose through. May also move the camelbak mouth piece I have to this as well if it fits the tubing.
Good quality for price
January 14, 2016
Good quality for price. Bag design is great, large pockets to store stuff. Biggest negative is bladder that comes with it. There's basically a sliding clip that holds the bag closed after you fold the top of the bag over which can cause leaks. Luckily I had a spare camelbak bladder that I replaced it with, works much better.
Works Okay
September 26, 2015
Pros: Can cary a lot of items such as sunscreen, glasses, a towel and a water bottle.Cons: The pouch is very annoying to refill and the hose to drink out of leaks.Overall: If you don't want to spend a whole lot of money and this cons do not bother you, then this is the one to get. Good price but very annoying for someone who will use this often.

A good price but you get what you pay for I guess. Mouthpiece didn't seal properly and it constantly leaked all over me. Was pretty tricky to get the bladder out to fill and I found the zipper down the shoulder strap that held the hose was annoying. The compartments inside the backpack were a good size though. Will definitely spend more next time to get better quality.

I bought this bag for my resent trip to the Sequoias. I took it out of the box and found that the tube was kinked in two places, I tested it and it was fine so I brought it with me on my trip. The kinks made it very hard to get a good stream of water and caused it to leak everywhere. If the tube was replaced I would love this back back and give it 5 stars. It's comfortable and has a lot of storage. Hoping the seller will help me with a new tube.
if you are only using it for water and to carry a few light items then its fine.

during our first hike the front strap broke, i was holding my snow shoes on the strap. I was disappointing that it was not durable enough to hold that weight. I had a camel-back for ten years and have help multiple heavy items on the straps and it never broke. if you are only using it for water and to carry a few light items then its fine.

Sip tube Kinked Out Of The Box
September 2, 2017
Backpack fits great, and feels like it will be good for the trails, however... the so called "kink free sip tube" came kinked right out of the box. Despite my best efforts, it's extremely difficult to get any water out of it, especially when I'm winded from a long run. I'll update my rating depending on Tetons response.
It's a pretty comfortable pack
July 20, 2017
I got this pack for hydrating on longer trail runs. It's a pretty comfortable pack, with enough storage in the mesh pocket for my phone, keys, and some nutrition. Seemed like the perfect option without breaking the bank. It would receive a much higher rating, probably five starts, if it didn't start leaking immediately. I made sure the hose was properly seated, but water started coming out of the area surrounding the port for the hose. I have some other products from TETON Sports, and have been very happy with them. The bladder on this pack is disappointing.
Not bad but not spectacular

It works fine. Nothing extra. It fits okay and doesn't move while running. I just wanted something small for running 10 miles or less and this works okay. The mouth piece requires a bit of work to get it to work, but dispenses just a little water easily, which works better while running anyway - not as intended, I'm sure. I like that it has both a chest and waist strap, but the top strap hits me directly over my breasts and is not adjustable enough to ride either above or below. That is a bit annoying. The first time I used it, the water bladder leaked, but I figured out the 2nd try that I had the bladder inserted the wrong direction and the leak was likely due to either the water tube having to stretch all the way around or the top was not screwed down all the way. It's okay, especially considering the price. If I had it to do over again, I'd spend the extra $20 and get the name brand.
more leaks than a classified email
April 17, 2017
bought this for an ultra marathon, the hose seal leaked quite a bit till i upgraded to a better one from the hardware store and a bit of teflon tape. the filler neck will not seal after a few hundred miles of use, so i'm using the somewhat larger bladder from my kelty pack (which is failure free after 10 years).
The bladder is almost unusable.
January 12, 2017
My main complaint, as others have noted, is the terrible smell of the water bladder. It significantly affects the taste of the water. It's bad enough that I don't feel comfortable using it any longer. I have washed and rinsed it multiple times but it has not improved. We have transitioned to just using the pack to carry small items and snacks on hikes. Eventually I plan to buy a different bladder, but the original is pretty bad. I gave it two stars because the backpack is actually pretty well made.
Leaks, not ideal for running.

Design is okay, but the bladder is leaking.Cons:- Bladder started leaking after like 5th or 6th run. - Have to invert the bladder to make it not leak, but then I can't drink without taking the bag off. It is leaking close to the where the tube connects.- Straps a bit sharp so can cut up your shirt as another reviewer mentioned.Minor Cons:- Wish it included a zipper pocket/more secure pocket for ID cards or something- Wish it included a pocket that was accessible while running.Pros:It's cheapFinal note:I wish I had paid like twice as much and gotten a nice camelbak. May try to contact teton to get a replacement bladder.

I'm so disappointed. I brought this with me to Zion and was so excited to use it. The first hike I took it to it started leaking. At first I thought maybe I filled it up too much, but as I kept hiking water kept dripping from the mouth piece. It was so disappointing. Not only that, but I found a rip on the zipper for the water pack. Other than these pretty obvious and disappointing defects, the bag was pretty alright and comfortable. What a shame.
Not for bigger then normal people
August 3, 2017
If you are a larger person, 6 foot and 250+ lbs then look else where. The chest strap is nearly in my neck and the bottom waist strap is at the bottom of my ribs and too short to clip together. Can't use the bag sadly.Bad part is I have to pay to ship it back too.Other then that it seems like a nice bag.
Design flaws and it fell apart quickly.
September 19, 2016
So I've had it for a year and a half but one of the compression straps came off the bag within a month and the other looks like it's wouldn't hold on for much longer either even though it surprisingly is still there. If the other strap falls off then the outside pocket is going to hang and move around while i walk and I'm sure will be an inconvenience. The bladder looks cheap and I replaced it immediately, the bag is minimalistic which may be a good thing to some but I would like to see a better closing method better material and maybe a quick detach hose for ease of cleaning. The hose can only be set up for right side and comes down this zipped section which is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. No webbing on the shoulder straps for a hose clamp or anything either. The chest strap is attached with these weird clamps and can pop off from time to time and it's a bitch to put back on. This bag is something I really want to like but I just don't. Small little design flaws all over the place that makes me just hate it in the end. They have a warranty and would fix the strap that fell off I'm sure but I'm not sending in a bag I hate to get fixed... There are things l like though, there is a section to tuck away the waist strap if you don't use it. Like the airflow backing and straps to keep you cool. Has a decent size main pocket that is a completely separate compartment as the bladder. Love the overall design minus all the little flaws and apparently poor build quality.
Not easy to fill
August 11, 2016
The water bladder in this closes by folding down the flap of bag and sliding a piece of plastic over the crease. If you are buying this pack for something like a music festival, where you will have to refill it a bunch of times, you are going to get really frustrated with the way you have to fill it. It is difficult and time consuming.
Great bag. Bladder leaks at the acccess point.
June 15, 2016
The bag itself is awesome with tons of space but the bladder has leaked since day one. Unforunately I'm probably going to have to buy another one or a different brand which bums me out because again I love the bag itself.
Decent design but leaks
June 25, 2015
I like the design and its a nice size for a mountain bike hydration pack, but the valve started leaking after just 2 uses. I contacted High Sierra and asked them to send me a replacement bite valve and they did not respond. So now I have a pack that leaks all over me whenever I use it.

Failed on the first use
July 6, 2017
This product let me down on its very first use. I bought this to keep me hydrated at a concert, which is important since I am on dehydrating medication. The one thing I bought it to do failed, as it started leaking about half way through the concert (approximately 4 hours after I originally put water in). This is not an issue with over-tightening the tube to the bladder (as many other people have reported), instead, the seal around the entire connection port separated on one side, causing water to drip out steadily. Do not rely on this product, buy the camelback instead for the extra money, as I am now kicking myself for not doing that.
Horrible Mouth Piece
May 10, 2017
The bladder and pack itself is nice but the mouth piece is very poorly designed. You'd have to bite down extremely hard to get any water out of it and when you do the flow of water is less than sufficient. This aspect makes it very difficult to use for hikes and other activities where you are looking to quickly quench your thirst.
Sad
August 25, 2016
It came with one of the bungee strings cut. Also the spout to drink from was not there. It was just a hose. The package had a sticker that said, "inspected and repackaged." Obviously that is not true. ☹️
Unusable for obnoxiously difficult refill procedure and extremely low flow rate
January 2, 2016
Unusable for two reasons: the first is how difficult it is to access the pouch to refill. It's a loose bag inside that is awkward, cumbersome, and very time consuming to remove, fill with water, then attempt to replace. Hint: The camelbak pack, while pricier, is much easier to access as it has an external opening you can unscrew, fill, and close back up. The second is the dispenser tip: it twists to open (which takes a while to figure out at first), then only allows a tiny amount of liquid through. I almost gave myself a headache trying to get more water to come out.Do yourself a favor and pay the extra money for the camelbak. It's obnoxiously pricey, but well worth it until a competitor makes a better alternative than this piece of junk.
Waiting on replacement
May 12, 2015
I should have checked it the day I got it, instead of the day I was first going to use it, because it was leaking at the bottom of the hydration bag at the point the tube connects. I am still waiting on a replacement to arrive. I hope I will be making an adjustment to this review at that time.
Bag leaked after two uses!
March 1, 2015
This was my first hydration pack purchase and I was excited to use it for hiking / outdoor activities. The bag made a good first impression on me, but after only using it twice, the bladder bag is already leaking where the tube connects to the bladder bag at the base of the bag. The leaking wasn't obvious when the bladder bag was outside of the backpack, but as soon as I put the bladder bag in, my backpack got drenched within seconds. I'm not sure if I got a faulty bag, but I would say this hydration pack is not worth the money if it can only work two times.

It started leaking not long after I used it
I never do reviews but this totally deserves it since it's the worst purchase I've ever made
January 4, 2016
This is my first Amazon review. I never do reviews but this totally deserves it since it's the worst purchase I've ever made.I went skiing and the thing kept leaking all the time. I was literally wet all the time till I stopped using it after the second day.The problem is in the system it uses to close the bag that holds the water (hydration bladder). It has something like a zip lock at the top of the of the bag, so every time I leaned forward for any reason (close my boots, help my kids, etc), it started to rain on me. And I'm not talking about dripping, I'm talking about big amounts of water. When you sit in the lift, the hydration pack obviously gets squeezed between your body and the lift so the water level in the bag raises and it starts to pour on you.Trust me, don't by this or any other hydration pack that uses this type of zip lock mechanism.
Good as backpack awfull as hydration bag
December 29, 2015
The backpack works, is ok. The biggest issue is not the poor design of the bag that doesn't makes it easy to dettach/refill/attach again, the biggest issue is that at the fifth time I used it started leaking a lot and most of liquid end on my cheat and back is really awkward.
Fine as a backpack. Worthless as a hydration pack.
September 23, 2015
As a small backpack, this works just fine. As a hydration pack, it's completely worthless. In order to fill the bladder, you have to unzip it and remove it. It then has a really awkward clip you have to remove to fill the bladder, but the worst part is putting the clip back on a full bladder. All in all, it's probably a 5 minute process (during which you get wet) to fill the bladder, rather than the 30 second job my last pack was. I waited too long to return this item, so it's getting donated to Goodwill. It's literally of zero value to me as a hydration pack.
Dissapointment in water pack, nice backpack though
July 24, 2015
Only used once and the mouth piece is already leaking a ton, went on a hike and lost more then I drank. Nice backpack though it's light and can carry all the essential things you would need for a run/hike.
