Five Star Reviews: | 60% Cigar box September 12, 2017 Nice cigar box, love the ability to visually check humidity levels w/o having to open, although the internal gauge isn't accurate. I bought a standalone gauge after reading existing reviews. Nice finish, arrived in perfect condition. Great Inexpensive Humidor September 10, 2017 I have had this humidor for over a year, and I'm very pleased. I live in dry, arid Arizona and the humidor maintains my desired relative humidity level. My preferred rh level is 67%-68%. The humidor looks great and performs. As with any wood humidor, make sure to season it well before use. In addition, I suggest investing in a digital hygrometer. The analog hygrometer it comes with looks nice but I never even bothered to calibrate it because digital hygrometers are superior. Great item at a great price June 9, 2017 It's been holding steady humidity for the month or so I have owned it. Works great. Priced right. Looks beautiful. Keep your favorite cigars at the right humidity at the right price. A+ item and seller. I love it. Appears to be well made May 11, 2017 I love it. Appears to be well made. Seems to be holding just below 70% (but also haven't calibrated the hydrometer). I like the movable divider as I have some nub cigars on one side and the full size on the other. Nice color and great smell! Great humidor May 9, 2017 well packaged and looks great - seasoned it over several days. For it's price range it's a good quality built humidor that seals well. Callibrated the hygrometer - not sure how accurate it will be over a longer period of time - but it looks nicer than a digital one - though I recommend using a good digital hygoameter for accurate monitoring. Handsome and Professional Looking! April 7, 2017 I am still a novice cigar smoker. Therefore, I didn't want to break my wallet on an expensive humidor. This humidor is sturdy, nice looking, and very functional! I highly recommend it to anyone who keeps a small cigar collection. Very attractive piece on my table I might add. | 55% Easy to setup & maintain May 27, 2017 Got for my husband for birthday gift, he loves it! Easy to setup & maintain. Brought dried up cigars back to life. Very functional humidor for a great price March 16, 2017 I just came back from Cuba with my family. We brought back 400 fresh handmade cigars from the Tobacco Factory. I immediately purchased this humidor so my cigars won't dry out. The humidity and temperature level are very consistent. I was able to revive some of my other cigars that had dried a little bit. The function works great! It looks great in my home bar. The Storage and shelving space very useful and makes it easy to organize your cigars. I'm glad to make this purchase for a very reasonable price. This a great product and it works very well February 1, 2017 This a great product and it works very well. I haven't any problems with this unit.. This is a product that I do recommend to anyone who is interested in one.. Perfect for long term storing and even aging of high end cigars. August 20, 2016 I just received this yesterday and figured I'd provide my experience as I go as to keep it as accurate as possible.Packaging was great. They had the unit surrounded by Styrofoam then boxed in its manufacturing box. That box was again surrounded in Styrofoam and placed in a secondary larger box. They meticulously taped the door shut as to not open during unwrapping. Inside the cooler, in the sliding drawer, I found the owners manual, door handle, hardware to install handle, how to guide for using the cooler, and even a second hydrometer.Setup was easy. Literally took it out of the box, used the supplied screws and washers to attach the handle, poured the distilled water into the plastic tray they supply, and am currently letting it season. I have not checked the calibration yet of the hydrometer that it came with but will update when I do.Temperature control seems to be spot on. It tells you what the temp is inside passively. When it first was turned on it was around 73 degrees inside and on the display. I turned the system down to 63 degrees (based on the parchment you get with cigars that states the optimal cigar temperature). It quickly flashed back to show 73 degrees but soon started to work its way down to the setting I had selected.Humidity supply - I'm currently still debating on either Boveda bags or Xikar crystals. The purpose for me spending the money on a temperature controlled unit was to have a set-it and leave-it set up which requires a 2-way humidity system that both can produce. Since my main goal will be aging of my high end Cuban cigars I don't want an active humidifier (I.e. oasis type) as they tend to place water vapor into the air vs allowing the air to become humid passively. Over the long term aging is best done passively.**UPDATE** It's been 5 days since I plugged this unit in and began seasoning the humidor. I allowed the seasoning process 4 days to ensure the cedar absorbed the proper amount of moisture. During the seasoning it reached 80% RH. Before placing any cigars in, on day 4 I placed in two 4 oz. jars of Xikar crystal humidifiers rated at 70% RH. It took about half a day for the RH to lower and that's when I placed my two boxes holding about 35 cigars inside. After the first night I'm holding perfect at 70% RH!Pictures provided: first is right out of the box. Second is after plugged in first day. Third and fourth are of today (day 2). I will wait 4 days before opening again to allow the cedar to fully season. **please note that other reviews have shown that the drawer is not as pictured. However mine is exactly as pictured. If yours is not I'd send it back as perhaps it's built wrong.****UPDATE** new photos: #5 - day 3 of seasoning at 80%RH. #6 - day 4 placing two 4 oz. jars of Xikar humidifiers in. #7 day 5 at 70% RH loaded with two boxes (approx. 35 cigars). #8 day 5 complete setup 70% RH @ 64 degrees.**UPDATE** It's now October 6th and the humidity hasn't changed one bit. I've opened this thing up about 10 times for adding more cigars and taking some out and zero change in humidity! Temp is holding great at 64º with only a few times I've walked by and found it displaying 66º, and one time 63º. It adjusted itself with in a few minutes and I'm totally fine with a degree or two fluctuation. Cigars that come out of this unit smoke BEAUTIFULLY.P.s. if you read the whole review thank you for your time. Such an investment I really wanted a detailed review for others. Very nice unit July 5, 2015 It is a very nice unit. The humidor was well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. After seasoning it over two or three days, I'm holding a steady 72% at 66 degrees Fahrenheit. I placed whole boxes of cigars into the unit and so far so good. There is a ton of space in the unit for plenty of cigars and or boxes of cigars (if you prefer to place entire boxes in the humidor like me). I am very pleased thus far. You can't go wrong with this wineador! January 10, 2015 Bought mine about two months ago and I've been extremely please with the unit's performance, construction, and build quality. I've placed it in my office, which is somewhat drafty ... temperature fluctuations were causing problems in my 150-count desktop humidor.Initial impressions:When the unit arrived, it looked like it had been dropped from 30,000 feet. The outer and inner packing boxes were dented and torn. The unit itself had a dent in the door. So I requested a replacement from Amazon. Two days later, a pristine unit arrived. So be aware of this.I removed and performaed a full seasoning of the cedar shelves and drawers using Boveda 84% humidity packets (four in a large storage tupperware) for 10 days -- as you would for a regular humidor. I also wiped the interior a number of times with distilled white vinegar and distilled water. This may be overkill, but I wanted to make sure no plastic smell was present. I also calibrated the analog hygrometer using salt and distilled water, even though I have two digital units. I'm also using 65% Heartfelt humidity beads in the container provided.I started adding cigars about 10 at a time over a week, to allow proper equilibration. I have two 25 count boxes, one 10 count box, and several dozen single. Two months after:The wineador is working wonderfully. I actually don't have it plugged in, as the temperature in the office is about what I want; I will plug it in in the spring and summer. The seal of the door is great. Humidity fluctuations are non-existent. I'm actually using weather station RH/Temp. sensors, as I'm an atmospheric scientist; they allow me to monitor remotely when I travel! I have a wireless switch that can turn the unit on, as I was away for a few weeks over the holidays. It really is a remarkable unit and it looks elegant and classy as well!18-month update:It is now August 25th, 2016 ... almost 18 months after my initial review! The wineador is working flawlessly; I have had no problems. One thing to note. Make sure you clean the outside of the cooler, especially the back vents. Pet hair likes to collect here. I've added a wireless switch to the outlet and wireless temp./humidity sensor, too (accessible from my iPhone or Mac). If I ever travel for more than a week, I can monitor the readings inside and turn the unit on or off if needed. However, I have never had a problem with keeping the inside environment just right. I prefer 65F and 65% humidity. My house was built in 1929 and is quite drafty. The wineador has been a blessing. Cheers! |
Four Star Reviews: | 22% Good September 20, 2017 Does what it says but would recommend they add an inset where the humidity reader fits. If you have it packed with cigars, circulation can be an issue. Nice May 9, 2017 Very nice humidor. Little disapointed in the humidifer (didnt stick and now just laying in the box). I plan on doing some small upgrades, but i will keep this box for a while. My experience with the buyer has been excellent. The first one I ordered never arrived (due April 24, 2017 I wasn't expecting much from this inexpensive humidor, but it is very well made. The joints are tight and the lid seals well with a solid, heavy feel. The hygrometer lacks a bit. It's not adjustable and the needle doesn't reach 70% but the calibration instructions are straightforward about that possibility. My experience with the buyer has been excellent. The first one I ordered never arrived (due, I believe to a mail truck accident) and the seller immediately informed me and issued a refund. I ordered a second and it arrived on time. Box review March 5, 2017 Does what it said it would do. Hold cigars. Two issues, the humidity device did not stay attached. It is two pieces with sticky tape with a magnet that comes off. The sticky tape did not stay attached to the wood. Other issues I can not get the humidity up to range. About 62. I use two shot glasses with distilled water. That could be because my house is only 65 in the winter. When summer comes will see if it changes. It's a nice one March 4, 2017 This is my first humidor, so i don't have anything to compare it to. It appears very well made and it looks great. Works as it should.Despite calibrating the hydrometer per the included instructions, it is not very accurate. Otherwise it would have been five stars. the inside smells great, and my cigars appear to be kept at ... May 14, 2016 For the price this humidor does the job. The hygrometer in front was slightly off-kilter when it came, and it doesn't appear to match what my separate digital hygrometer says on the inside, but it doesn't matter as the moisture is kept within, the inside smells great, and my cigars appear to be kept at the right humidity after I seasoned the inside of this humidor. | 13% A tight box October 6, 2017 This is early on, but I've had the humidor for two weeks now. After conditioning it I used three crystal jar humidifiers and the humidity has held dead steady. To me this indicates that the unit is good and tight. The temperature cycles plus or minus a degree or so, plenty close enough. Fit and finish are good and the little assembly required is very easy. It came with two humidistats ever though there is only a spot for one. both read a little low compared to my digital humidistat which I trust a little more. There's an adjusting screw on the back, but as far as I can tell that has no affect other than to stress the spring. If anyone has advise on this let me know. I'd have thought for an item in this price category there would be a digital humidistat built in, but they're very clear that there is not. There is a light built in, but it's more for effect than for illumination. It's blue and lets you see what's on the top shelf but nothing more. Some cheap LED strips at each shelf level would have been nice. All in all I'm very pleased. Great for the price February 24, 2017 Lifesaver for my cigars. Keeps them at 60 degrees with not problem, but need to wet some paper towels to maintain above 60 degrees. Great for dry climates! February 1, 2017 It took 3 days longer to get than it should have but that was due to UPS dealing with the USPS!The humidor is well built and very quite (can't hear it run) and coupled with my cigar oasis humidifier it is going to be perfect for the dry Denver climate. Nice. Need a table or something to put it ... May 2, 2016 Nice. Need a table or something to put it on; the door must be opened all the way to pull tray out, which means you need to consider there depending on where you place it. took forever to get humidity level to where it belongs. would be nicer if it had a 2nd tray. The foot pads are useless on carpet and the door drags September 27, 2015 I've run this unit for a couple of weeks and would give it five stars except for some design and configuration flaws. First the design side. The foot pads are useless on carpet and the door drags. So far I have it sitting on some 2x4s for door clearance. The foot pads need to be adjustable in height. Second design flaw is lack of a sealing penetration for electrically powered humidifiers. Some folk swear by (or at sometimes) the Oasis XL and similar products. But they should have an easy way to incorporate. On to configuration. First DON'T order the "recommended" cedar trays as they are awkward in dimension. You can't use 2 per shelf and having one on a shelf means cigars roll into the tray space. The better way is to add 2 drawers. You can order them from http://www.ambientstores.com/productdetail/1938 You don't need another one with a cutout, but they have them too. Why order 2 drawers and not 4? The fan must not be blocked and air flow restricted. The fan grille extends through the middle two of the shelf bays in the product picture. So 2 drawers will keep a clear path. The fan varies in speed so the temperature ranges from 64-66. It's quieter than a quiet desktop computer. I can store many more cigars in this configuration and the mostly constant air circulation seems to do the trick. Now on to "how do I keep humidity at the right amount for a long time?" piece. Actually the water tray that comes with the unit was excellent for seasoning the humidor and got the job done in 3-4 days. Using it with a pound of Heartfelt 70% beads to buffer they system is working out fine. I will tinker some more but if you need to restrict the amount of water evaporating out of the plastic tray, duct tape covering works great. We run 40-60% humidity in the house so with unit leakage, the use of water will vary.I'm happy with this unit so far. Cooler humidor September 1, 2015 Nice looking, reasonable quality, will not achieve the desired humidity with the included tiny water tray, I had to use a lot of heartfelt beads to achieve a constant 70% humidity, built quality is also reasonable considering the price, I do have the Libherr Humidor which is a much better product, but the Whynter for a tenth of the price is a much better value, holds more boxes and achieve a similar result. |
Three Star Reviews: | 8% Nice box but the humidity gauge doesn't work September 17, 2017 Nice box but the humidity gauge doesn't work. I've closed it up with a hot wash rag to test and the needle never moves.other than that, it's very nice. Temperature Not Keeping Well August 1, 2017 Surprised that this had so many good ratings when I purchased it as a gift for my boyfriend. It hasn't kept the temperature well, but it does look nice. Decent purchase if you're on a budget, but if not explore other options. Seems like a good basic humidor May 5, 2017 Seems like a good basic humidor. Im no expert but its currently in the process of being seasoned and seems like it will work just fine. Partially works, but the glass top was not sealed correctly. March 17, 2017 The one I received might be the exception and not the rule, but it does not maintain the proper humidity levels because the glass top is not properly sealed (I can slide it back and forth). I'm currently able to maintain about 61% humidity which is fine for some, but I am shooting for at least 67%. Once I seal it with some odorless sealant I should be able to get it to 67%. But in all honesty, this should come properly sealed from the start, so that's why I'm giving 3 stars. Everything about this box was great except the seal is not completely tight causing my ... January 29, 2017 Everything about this box was great except the seal is not completely tight causing my fiance that I bought it for to have to come up with other ways to try and seal it better. It stays at 60 but wont seal anymore than that. and will pony up some more money for a better quality. i constantly have to leave a sponge ... July 19, 2016 For a starter, it seems to do the job. But the humidor sponge will not stick to the side of the humidor. It always falls and then doesn't work properly . i dont see myself keeping this for a long time, and will pony up some more money for a better quality. i constantly have to leave a sponge in there to keep it humid, otherwise the humidifier that comes with the case doesn't do the trick. | 6% By extended warranty May 5, 2017 Worked great for 7months so I threw away the packing and shipping materials. Stopped cooling adequately at eight months. By the extended warranty if you purchase this itemUpdate. The manufacturer contacted me and diagnosed the problem to be the circuit board that controls the unit. Since it was still under the one year warranty, they sent me a new circuit board free of charge and I had it installed two days ago. The unit is now performing spectacularly. It maintains the set temperature which of course maintains the desired humidity. I would love to give this product a five star, raving review because I really do like it. However, it concerns me that a simple refrigeration unit stopped working so soon. It also concerns me that the warranty runs out in two months. Think I will take my own advice and buy the extended warranty. My second, this one is a bit sloppier though May 2, 2015 This is the second Whynter I bought, I liked the first one so much that I opted for another of the same model and make. The reason for 3 stars is that the build quality is definitely lower. The cedar trays have allot of glue over-run on them (sloppy gluing at assembly) and the cooler itself was missing a foot on the bottom so it is a bit challenging to keep level. But the coup de gras was that when I unpacked it there was a bottle of what I believe to be home made wine wedged inside, so somebody was using this as a wine cooler for some time and forgot to take ti out when it was packed up for shipping. If that bottle had broken then the whole humidor would have been ruined. As is, it functions and I have no complaints about the functionality though. But I do wonder about what is going on in the warehouse though. Very nice! (Inspect before use) February 24, 2015 Looks nice, lots of space inside, great smell of Spanish cedar. The led light is nice and soft and the cooler works fine and refrigerates real fast. It's big, so make sure you have room for it in your house/office. Unlike other people said, mine is not noisy, just a barely noticeable buzz from the fan inside. I substituted the plastic bowl with a more functional electric humidifier therefore I can't review the effectiveness of it.The Hygrometer is NOT adjustable and mine wasn't working properly so I had to buy a new hygrometer even though Whynter sent me a brand new one (their customer service is very nice and professional by the way!).I'm not a big fan of the temperature, it won't go over 66°F (usually cigars need to be stored at 70°F or between 68 and 72) and that's why I keep it turned off (my room is 68°F right now). The door seals well, too bad the rubber around the inner side of the door on my unit is uneven on the top-left corner and needs a gentle push every time I close it, just to make sure it seals all the way.If you want to open the drawers or pull the trays off you have to open the door almost all the way to the right so don't put it next to a wall or some other thing that may block the opening. If you purchase tall boxes (usually squared boxes of 20/25) consider to take the cigars out of the box and store them in the drawers because they won't fit (unless you remove one of the trays which i don't recommend since they might dry out and lose the nice cedar smell)It's a little heavy, make sure to get some help if you have any sort of physical impediment. The price is good, not crazy about it either.Easy to use and after the proper seasoning is ready to go.I think overall it's a 4 star unit but based on my experience I give it 3 stars. |
Two Star Reviews: | 4% Keep looking March 4, 2017 My first humi. I have a few others now and this one doesn't seal as well as the others. It looks nice and hygrometer seems to keep fairly accurate. FYI - If your new to cigars and looking for your first humi get at least a 75 count. You will fill it quickly. Most cigar sites offer free 25-50 sized humis with some sort of purchase. Doesn't hold humidity. December 26, 2016 Seal isn't tight enough to hold in humidity. Using a 69% Boveda pack, and two different hygrometers (the one that came with it and an electric one) are both reading at about 55%. Get what you pay for November 30, 2016 Seasoned humidor multiple times but won't maintain humidity. (Seasoned with Boveda 84% packs for 2 weeks) Hygrometer is fairly accurate and can be adjusted. Does not seal well. You get what you pay for... August 22, 2016 The true test of a good humidor... Open the lid, let go of lid. If the lid slams shut, then the sealing is poor and it will be hard to keep humid. If the lid drops, but then slow down like its on shocks, then that is the air dampening the lid and therefore you will have a great seal. In my case, the lid slams shut and I am quite surprised the glass didn't break. After seasoning my box per instructions, at best using the included humidifier and added Drymistat, I cannot get better than 60% humidity at anytime. If you invest money into enough cigars to even fill this box half of the way, then don't go the cheap way out and spend a little more on a good humidifier. I can say this is a very nice box with a nice glass, cedar lining, blah blah blah.. but what good is it if it doesn't seal and keep your cigars fresh? If you want a nice box for $25 that won't keep your cigars fresh, then this is it! Hard to increase humidity May 29, 2014 For whatever reason, I cannot get this box to stay above 60% humidity. That being said, the dial on the front isn't accurate either. fair March 23, 2014 Box won't hold proper humidity after more than a week of conditioning using water and the humidifier disk. Gauge won't read higher than 50% humidity. Calibrating the gauge is problematic. Followed the instructions with the damp salt and a plastic baggie. The gauge read 85% after several hours. If I had set the gauge back to 75% per the instructions then the box humidity would have read even lower than it was supposed to. Tried again with a larger baggie (the instructions don's specify how large of a bag to use) and the gauge read 65% after several hours. The box does look good though. Someday I'll get a digital gauge and check what the humidity really is. I should note that I live in Tucson where humidity is typically only about 20% so maybe the box is no good in dry climates. | 7% Not good. March 29, 2017 6 Months later and it is having having problems maintaining a set temperature. Not good. Not a good buy! March 27, 2017 Well built. Does what it says it does. Only issue I have with it is there is no on/off switch. So to turn it off, you have to unplug it.Update: Unit stopped cooling. Doesn't get below 72 degrees now. Ambient in the room is 70. Contacted Whynter via email. They returned my correspondence the next day with a list of things they'll need from me before they'll help. Submitted what they required. Now I wait. I've had this unit less than 2 mos (arrived 2/28) and it's already on the fritz. Stay tuned.... and if set to 50 degrees will only cool to 53 December 21, 2016 I have a Haier 6 bottle thermoelectric cooler that never waivers a degree from the set point, and the inside temp matches what is displayed. The display on this Whynter model fluctuates from 66-68 degrees and the inside temperature never rises past 63 degrees, and if set to 50 degrees will only cool to 53. I was hesitant to purchase after seeing the YouTube review of this model where the reviewer states his never goes lower than 73 degrees, but I ignored the red flag. I called Whynter support and they told me a 5 degree variation in temperature is acceptable - That is ridiculous for such a small enclosure. As others have mentioned, this unit also has the stain around the hygrometer, which is probably from the adhesive used to secure it. I will be returning the unit to see if a replacement is more temperature accurate - so buyers beware. Poor August 22, 2015 I've been trying to get this cooler to stabilize at a good humidity for two months now, but It does not. I even prepped it like a non-electrical humidor. It also will not allow me to set it above 62 degrees--it will let me change it to 60, but resets to 62. It should allow me to store at 70 degrees and 70% RH, but it does not. DON'T BUY!!! unless your into MODIFICATION!!!! POOR air circulation when filled up!! August 1, 2015 Any review that says this works GOOD out of the box hasn't done any testing! At least in a similar environment as I am in. I live in the desert with evaporative cooling. That means good luck keeping your cigar under 70 F in the summer. I've measured Temp and Humidity on all shelves simultaneously even at the bottom with NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) traceable calibrated devices. Although when empty temp and humidity are more constant. The purpose of the device is to fill it up with cigars and create a micro climate suitable for storage of cigars. If the humidor is full there is little to no circulation of air. Temp differences of up to 10 degrees F and humidity up to 20% from top to bottom when humidor is full. Humidor needs air circulation even if it is satisfied temperature wise. There are no allowances for this. When the thermo electric devices is activated (transferring heat) it acts as a dehumidifier. This product was made with out any thought. It's just a thermo electric wine cooler with cedar shelves. Guess what? Wine is in a sealed bottle (It's own micro climate) cigars are not!!! You are supposed to be creating a micro climate for the cigars. I am currently modifying mine with extra fans an a controller (AC Infinity AI-ATC, Fan Thermostat and Speed Controller with two sets of AI-MPF80A2 Quiet Dual 80mm). I hope this will work but I still have to overcome the lack of space (when full) around the shelves for air movement. I will update this post to let people know how the modification turns out. Here is a list of some items I'm using to modify this product:Cigar Oasis Plus Electronic Cigar HumidifierCigar Oasis Black WiFi Attachment ModuleAC Infinity AI-ATC, Fan Thermostat and Speed Controller, for Home Theater AV Media Cabinet CoolingAC Infinity AI-MPF80A2 Quiet Dual 80mm USB Fan for Receiver DVR Playstation Xbox Computer Cabinet CoolingSpanish Cedar Cigar Tray Great...for a while October 29, 2014 See edit below. It's been in service for one week so far. I am also using a drymistat humidor humidifier tube. The reading are near perfect. 71% humidity and 67 degrees according to a digital reader. I wanted to store my cigars at 70 degrees but I am not trying to age my cigars just yet, just preserve them in the hot dry southern California weather. This thing does the job perfectly. I did season the shelves with distilled water which helped get it into the ideal zone for humidity. There is lots of storage space in this thing too. You could probably store 3 boxes of cigars or more. The only thing I didn't like is that the highest temperature setting is 66 degrees and the humidity cup that you are supposed to fill with water didn't fit exactly between the shelving slots but wasn't an issue for me due to the use of the drymistat tube.EDIT: I took most the shelving out and put more than 200 cigars in. I am fairly certain you can store more than 300 cigars in this thing. And most importantly the temperature control is still accurate according to my ryobi temperature gun.You will just really need to control the humidity well if you plan to fully stock this thing up. I am now using 3 drymistat tubes and adding water to the shelf to get it into the 70% rangeEDIT 9-4-17 The Humidor Temperature Has dropped to 55 degrees and wont go to the set temperature. Looking as to how to repair the unit myself now. I may Just shut it off or put it on a timer as my house doesn't usually get incredibly hot. I will do a few tests. |
One Star Reviews: | 6% Not so great March 27, 2016 This humidor is terrible, I have two humidifiers in it and it still can't stay above 70% humidity. Added a drymistat tube with recommended amount of distilled water to the humidor and I ... February 16, 2016 I purchased this back in December. Finally got around to setting it up a few weeks ago. Ran the salt test to make sure the hygrometer was dialed in and it was. Added a drymistat tube with recommended amount of distilled water to the humidor and I was never able to crack 50 % humidity. I took the same tube and threw it into a ziplock bag and it made it to 70%. After a little research I performed the dollar bill test and one side of the humidor failed miserably. I'm now outside of the 30 day return window so it looks like I'm stuck with it. Defected? December 30, 2015 I was very excited to receive my humidor. When I finally received, I opened it and the glass was not stable or in place. The 4 wooded pieces that hold it in place were off and the glass was loose. I tried putting it back together but the wooden pieces do not fit correctly to hold the glass in place. My cousin purchased the same humidor and his is perfectly fine. Maybe I received a defected one I'm not sure? I will be sending this back and hoping to receive a good one. If the one I receive is no good, then on to a different product. | 19% NOT A HUMIDOR September 29, 2017 Owned this for about 1 year now, the interior bottom cools and the top, well room temp. Its nothing more than a very cheap cooler (no freon) in a cool looking cabinet. I have played with this hoping for decent preservation of cigars. Its not a humidor. The short version, If you have an extensive collection of cigars, stay away, far away. Broke in the first 6-8 months... March 6, 2017 I bought this 11 months ago, for the last few months the humidity has been impossible to maintain. Just figured out that the PCB board is not working right. It runs the fan non stop. Customer service is nice and easy to work with...I gave it a 1 star as the product didn't make it the full first year without breaking down. Now I have to pay to have the part put on as it needs to be soldered. Disappointed and Frustrated October 5, 2016 Unfortunately the humidor stopped cooling after 16 months. There is only a year warranty on the unit but I expected it to last longer than 16 months. I expected to pay the repair costs but the Whynter Company insisted on charging me the shipping costs both ways. Between the shipping costs and estimated repair costs this would have been just short of what I paid for it to begin with. I cannot recommend this product to anyone. therefore would cool all the way down to low temperature of 54 ... November 11, 2015 The unit didn't work correctly from the opening. The unit never shut off at low temperature setting, therefore would cool all the way down to low temperature of 54 degrees. When contacting Manufacturer they didn't really help get the problem solved at all. Amazon was really great and took the unit back and refunded full balance. What a Shame... August 15, 2015 Looks good but that's about it. Temperature is presently at 83 degrees and it has stopped blowing any cool air, this is after 12 weeks. There is no way to bring this thing to an acceptable level. It looks as if this has bitten the dust. Humidity level never stabilized either. Junk. Zero stars. DONT'T DO IT...!!! Looks Good...Noisy...Terrible Performance August 9, 2015 Update 4/17.... Continues to be garbage. I unplugged this overpriced mini-fridge because it kept dropping in temperature. I plugged it back in after a bit because I as having difficulty maintaining humidity (about 60). After a few days I unplugged it again because now it keeps dropping temps to 55-degrees. I guess if you were in the Sahara Desert this would be a valuable purchase. Otherwise, STAY AWAY from this... Downgrading from 2 stars to 1, only because I can't give it 1/10th of one star...Older post... Looks good... Makes a lot of noise oddly enough... Optimal temp for storage is 70 degrees, highest set-point on this unit is 66 (although it won't maintain 66, but does keep it at 65). Must open door 180 degrees to slide out tray, so you must store in a spot that allows door to completely open 180-degrees. Comes with dial hygrometer, not optimal digital. Nice enough unit, wouldn't do it again given the opportunity. |
