The display is at the front and angles forward so I can see it even when I have a large bowl on the scale. The scale is large enough to accommodate my largest bowls but small enough to occupy an unused corner of the counter without being obvious. It makes breadmaking simpler by foregoing the need for measuring cups.

I like this scale. The option to see the readout in pounds and ounces, or just ounces by itself minimizes the math I have to do in my head based on the situation, and that's a good thing. I also like the sensitivity. I often use it to weigh liquids, and previous scales had a lag time that meant I usually added too much. This little guy is quick enough that when I stop pouring, that's the weight it stays at. It doesn't continue to climb as it catches up. Finally, I like the wide rectangular base. Much easier than balancing containers on a circle. Overall, I'm very happy with my scale.

This small-footprint digital scale is ideal for weighing everything from envelopes to determine postage to weighing ingredients when adjusting recipes in the kitchen. It has a range from .1 oz to 11 lbs which works well when filling vacuum seal freezer bags with measured amounts. I especially love the tare weighing feature which automatically subtracts the container weight. Just turn it on, wait for 0.0 to appear, place the empty container on the scale and press the on-off button again which re-zero's the readout, and then add the food item to be measured. The glass top is also easy to clean. As for those who complain about the auto-shutoff, I find that is a benefit since it will automatically shut off after I'm done weighing and handling food, and the scale can picked up and moved back into storage. Just tap the scale to reset the time-out feature while using it beyond 1 minute.

Works exactly as advertised. Small, slim, packs in the shipping supplies closet nicely. I was concerned that the scale might be sticky (not return precisely to zero, or jump from zero to some higher number without being able to measure light objects), but tests with both heavy and light items did not reveal any problems. Furthermore, all measurements attempted were repeatable to full precision; if I placed an object on the scale, recorded what it reported, removed the object, noted that it read zero, and placed the object back on the scale, it reported what I'd recorded earlier. I have not tested with any standard weights or masses; I don't have that particular need.I was very surprised and pleased at the quality, precision and accuracy of the product, given its price point.The *only* problem I had was that initially the battery wouldn't rest properly in contact with the scale's electrodes. But after a little bit of wiggling of the battery door, it made and has maintained contact, so it's not even worth docking a star.

You'd be surprised at the things you want to weigh, just for the fun of it. The scale looks great, and is fairly easy to read if you can position the product to not cover the display. You can always tell a premium product from a "plastic" product, and this is far to the premium side. The glass top is a nice touch that can easily be cleaned.A small nitpick is the lack of a backlight, because the glare in the kitchen can sometimes cause the display to be illegible. Easily fixed by moving it though.

I have had this scale for a few months now, and I can say its awesome! I use it to weigh mail and for food/ ingredients.For the price, it is awesome! The scale can switch from grams, to ounces to ml. The tare function is time saving.My only gripe is its hard to see the display when using a big plate or bowl. So, to correct that, I just use a smaller plate or bowl. No biggie, really.I love to bake, and I started weighing all my ingredients instead of measuring by volume. It has made a huge difference in the end products-- they taste ten times better. Also, I don't have as many measuring cups to clean when I cook! That alone makes this product a keeper.The other great thing about using a scale: weighing what you eat. I am trying to lose weight and I use this scale daily to weigh my lunchmeat, veggies, etc. It is mindblowing to know what 2 oz. of meat really looks like! But, it keeps me in check and on top of my calorie intake each day.

bought 6 of these and gave to friends, makes for an excellent all occasion, for the person that has everything gift.

comes with a straight then spiral then straight cable, this is ok but have to get the read-out set just right so it doesn't spring back to the ground.

My scale at the office died and I needed a replacement quickly and without a being too costly. Thank you Amazon and Prime membership. It was super easy to set up and I did use the USB option for power....and I did end up getting a 15 foot USB extension ( five bucks ) as my computer is a pretty good distance from the scale. Bottom line, it works better and has more features than the industrial/expensive, POS that it replaced. The only thing I had to do was raise it, as I weigh large boxes on my work bench. I have a large kraft paper dispenser on my ship table and it is mounted with a fairly thick metal bracket. The scale is under an inch high. It's not a real large surface area, but I was able to weigh large boxes, 30" x 20 " with perfect stability and accuracy. I can't believe I only paid $35 for this. It appears to be of good quality and hopefully will last. Very few reviews show problems with durability. Just don't drop the thing and it should last a long time.

I wanted a weighing scale uniquely to weigh heavy luggage for traveling and not for shipping so my review is limited to its usefulness to frequent travelers. I once had an embarrassing moment at the airport when I "guesstimated" the weight with one baggage but it ended up being 4 pounds over and I had to open my luggage in front of an ogling crowd to transfer the contents into another baggage. Yep, that wasn't fun. So instead of guesstimating or borrowing a weighing scale from others, I decided to purchase one for myself since I travel a LOT.

My spouse and I are traveling soon and we are carrying a lot of baggage. If you're like us where you're trying to jam pack things into 4 checked baggages and 2 other carry-ons, and you need to keep alternating contents in various bags till the desired weight is achieved in each, then you'll understand this product is a God send. The scale was at a very nominal price when I purchased it. It arrived excellently packaged and the adhesive was very easy to remove. Once the scale is unwrapped, all you need to do is insert the (included) batteries and press the "on" button on the display. So far I have weighed baggage unto 75 lb and the scale has tolerated 75 lb just fine. Another great thing, the scale works great even in carpeting which is a relief to me since our household is carpeted is most rooms. All in all I'm very happy with this scale and have used it quite a bit now and it's holding up really well. It also looks nice with a neat grey metallic finish. I highly recommend this product for frequent travelers!

I love this scale so much that I bought TWO of the exact same one. Here are some reasons why I chose this scale versus other ones.

1. The weight limit was a high factor in my purchase. It has a capacity of 440lbs. Although I will never reach that limit, I know how tempting it is for my guests to weigh themselves, which is why I bought a second one for human use. :)

2. The overall sleek design. It is made of high-quality, one piece design, which makes it very easy to clean. I know other scales may prefer to have ridges in their design to prevent slipping, but I prefer this look, so dirt won't get caught in between the ridges.

3. The digital screen isn't stuck to the scale. I ship a lot of packages that are about 5 ft tall, and it would be extremely hard for me to look over the package to see the weight on the screen. With this design, I am able to mount the screen at eye height, away from the scale to read better.

4. Customer service. While setting up my scale, I accidentally broke the battery cover on the back of my scale. No big deal, but I figured I'd ask them if they could replace that specific plastic piece and they were quick to resolve my issue! A+ for customer service!

Great scale, especially for the price. Well-made, nothing flimsy, nothing there that can break off, unless mishandled in transit, I imagine. The scale, itself weight about 4 lbs. The reader, including the battery, about 8 oz. It would be helpful for the manufacturer to mention the range of weight it will read rather than only the upper limit. I can confirm that the lower limit is 0.5, as someone else here stated. Anything lighter like, say, envelopes, won't register. We don't mind because in our setup, we have a different scale for that. We are very happy and ever so grateful for the good price and good quality. I wonder if the thinness of the scale (it stands 1 inch tall) would be an issue with oversize parcels. A long box may hang over too much, touch the ground, causing the scale to give a false reading. But in that case, you could stand it on end. May be worth taking into account when purchasing. For our needs of weighing medium size boxes, 16-25" per side, 10-50 lbs per box, it works swimmingly. Very happy, very pleased. Arrived the next day.

Very accurate with an easy to read display. The only drawback for me is that it uses a harder to find watch battery. I would have preferred AA or AAA. The battery size is listed in the description (cr2032 lithium battery) but if it is a nonstandard size that should be prominently avertised.

It is still early, but so far the scale is very well made, sturdy, and appears to be very accurate. The only problem is that it is very small and if you put a big package on it it is very difficult or almost impossible to read. This happened on the first package I weighed. All in all it appears to be a good scale for the money.

The surprisingly good, precise little scale sure is earnest! One star deducted for the fact that one of the measuring modes is in milliliters. Yes, milliliters, as in, a measure of volume. This *WEIGHT* scale, or *MASS* scale, if you prefer, somehow manages to include measurement units normally (or *always*, if you prefer precision) reserved for the geometric space taken up by liquids. Does that slight physical impossible deter this workhorse lil' scale? No, it does not. This scale will happily measure the volume of your liquids by weighing them. If thinking about that makes you feel dense, don't worry; this scale doesn't care about density.

I like the fact that this piece is sleek and henceforth, unobtrusive in my pantry work space. I've never owned a small scale and find it very handy to have, upping my confidence in cooking. I know that doesn't attest to this particular scale, but with such a nice look, I leave it exposed and have used it often for small items. I have also used it for making sure I am getting what I need for various small item purchases off the Internet.... for example, I checked the weight of a broken chair caster and compared it to the weight of one online to make sure of that purchase before I bought it. Bathroom scales are pretty much useless for that kind of thing. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is simply because I don't inflate my reviews.

I'm an Etsy and Storenvy seller, and I was getting really tired of going to the post office and getting a surprise on the price. This little guy has helped out a bunch with that! the display is easy to read and the small stylish design is perfect for using and then stowing away. It is small though. I sell tank tops and Sweatshirts and I have very little problem seeing around my package to the numbers, but there have been a couple of large orders i've had to put something I could balance the package on, set it back to zero, then look at the package. that the only reason its 4?5 instead of 5/5 stars though. I wish it was a bit longer in the back so that I wouldn't have to situate the package so I coul see around it for the display. Some reviews have mentioned a misread on the weight, but as far as I can tell i haven't had that problem at all.

So far, I love this scale. Exactly what I needed. So why the 4 stars and not 5? No light on the read-out. I know, read the product description. OK, I just re-read it plus some of the reviews and, nope, nothing says it's not lit. Question is, why should they? Because almost every other picture of a Smart Weigh product shows a light. I just assumed...why wouldn't this one be as well? Why wouldn't they ALL be lit? So, partly my bad, but I sure would have liked that particular added to the description. Otherwise, excellent scale, great price, quality item.

I like the scale. I bought it because I thought it would be more accurate than my cheap bathroom scale. It ended up being within 1 lb of the average bathroom scale measurement. I still prefer this scale though because it registers the weight instantly and continuously (i.e., live). The old bathroom scale calculates and then displays its measurement.

However, despite the similarity in my two scales' measurements, the scale at my gym always measures at least 5 to 7 lbs heavier. I'm wearing the same thing and measurements are done within an hour of each other. So I guess either my two scales are both wrong or the gym scale is wrong. I don't know how to explain it.

That said, the scale has an attractive stainless steel finish. It looks nice. The display is not so attractive and is not backlit, but it doesn't bother me. I like that even sitting on the floor I can turn it on by pressing the button with my toe and then step on the scale. No bending. Also, it will turn itself off after a period of time. So no need to turn it off.

First I thought I locate it not the best place. But after several times tested, I'm not frustrated any more. This scale can't give me exact weight of a light/or small stuff which has less than 0.6 oz (my scale issue Maybe differ from yours. But I don't intend to return it for as long as it is working exactly on different heavy stuff. (For small weighed items, put 5 or more on scale, and then divided by total numbers, so I get the closet accurate weight of each item. So far so good.)

Worked 1x and now won't turn back on. Now I can't return because I'm past the 30 day return policy. Good luck with yours. Now I have a flat paperweight. Revision: After my review I was contacted by company and without any hassle I was sent our a new unit that works great. I have my own weights to make sure it's accurate and haven't had a bad reading yet.

Great scale with minor problems. Loose wire on 9 volt connector clip but fixed by using a cable clamp top to bottom on clip and battery. There is no hole or mounting point on the back of the display for wall mounting. Instructions say use alkaline battery but a standard cheap battery is enclosed in box. Otherwise, a good product and I am going to keep it.

There was a broken side on the panel when it arrived even though very well packaged and the panel was bent. It looks like it came from the factory that way, but it doesn't prevent me from using it so it's not a huge deal for me. You have to push the buttons down very hard until you hear a beep, at first when you push lightly you think that you've pushed it but you have to push super hard. But I don't change modes often so that is not a huge deal. I liked getting a big scale at a great price and having the panel with a long cord so I can weigh big packages. Overall, it's good for the money for what I need.

The only issue I have with this is that it is small and times out too quickly so I cannot keep filling if I'm away for more that 20 seconds.

You have to constantly keep turning it back on if you're weighing food. Shuts off too quickly

My mailings require three numbers after the decimal point.Not what I needed.Not a bad scale otherwise.

I don't demand a lot from my kitchen scale as I only use it for coffee beans in whole-gram increments. It weighs items well enough but the quick shutoff is annoying when using it for pour-over coffee.

I bought this beacuse I just started selling some stuff on ebay (no offense, Amazon) and wanted to avoid the post office like the plague. I mostly sell clothing so my packages are about 8x11 inches and unfortunatley this covers the screen so it's kind of hard to read the weight with the package on it. This would be fine except that when you take off the package the numbers go away so you have to sneakily get a peek at the weight. There should be a way to keep the weight on the screen for at least a few seconds and if there is a way I haven't found it. the other problem I have with it is that, even on a flat surface, the scale can weigh things differently at different times. I have tested it out a few times and it is usually different by .2 oz each time. This leaves me always rounding up just in case the scale is wrong. BOTTOM LINE: I think this is best suited for weighing food and very small parcels. I can't believe I just wrote that much about a scale.

had high hopes for this but it doesn't weigh the small usps boxes and legal size envelopes i'm shipping out, possibly they weigh under 6oz but i doubt that they all do...going to have to buy another one that can read under 1lb.

I could not get this to weigh anything smaller than 6 pounds. I needed ounces so I had to send it back. Not sure if I was doing something wrong or it was just not working properly. So if you need to weight smallet, lightweight items, keep looking.

There is a minimum weight on this scale, which I feel sort of defeats the purpose. Had to send it back.

Scale worked great ,but now it has started not weighing things correctly causing little problems when mailing packages and prepaying for labels..says it has a good warranty but cant find info to get a replacement or this one calibrated ... only used it a few time before problems so and now in time shortness its been almost a year since purchase and maybe 5 solid uses so i have to drop stars but hopefully i can find how to get it fixed as opposed to new purchase??

But I ordered for shipping and it does not register ounces under a pound. Over a pound it's great but nothing under a pound. For me it is not often useful. I'm really bummed.

Nice scale, good look, however stopped working after almost one year and half of normal home usage (started showing random numbers when you put something on the scale). Another cons - capacity of the coin battery is very small.

Nice size, I like the glass top, and the fact that you can use the tare function. Unfortunately the scale died after about 6 months of use. Changing the battery did not help.

Wish I would've gotten one with bigger capacity.

I didn't expect this kitchen balance to provide weights in whole numbers only. I had expected to give portions of whole amounts such as 1.1 ounces or 1.1 grams but instead, it only measures in whole numbers so you can't be as accurate as you might need to be, for instance while doing a chemistry experiment or weighing something where's it's extremely important to have an accurate weight.

Not accurate. Scale does not give the correct weight. Also does not pick up light items. The casing for the reader is poor quality.

Does not weigh in increments less than one once. Does not even display weights under 8 ounces! Mostly useless for my internet sales boxes, bags and envelopes. Cannot trust weight, does not match PO scale. I have stopped using it and gone back to my older, smaller scale. Had hoped this one would work for all my needs but it fails miserably. Actually worked fine for first 3/4 days, or at least I assumed it did until I started getting false weights or no display at all for small packages. Bummer, I'll order another for different vendor.

I only have done it 4 months and put it to the side because my shop wasn't up and running until now. I've gone through 3 batteries only to discover it's the cords that have slits not the batteries. Huge loss of money and now to order a new one.

Mine does not read below 6oz and then slightly questionable. Agree that if you need to measure small, it is useless. Arrived with no instructions, which although a scale and straightforward for most, still would like to have.

The manual says the minimum readibility is 2 oz. however, I can't read any item that's less than 6 oz. Is there a problem with the particular one that I bought?

Not very accurate

I opened the box and pulled the tape to activate the scale. It worked the first time. When I turned it off and turned it back on it would not work. It seemed only to work when I re-inserted the battery, but for one time only (after taking the battery in and out of the machine.) I returned the scale to Amazon and bought a different brand. I would have thought this would have been tested at the factory BEFORE shipping.

Broke after a few weeks. I thought the battery was just dead, but new batteries wouldn't bring it back to life. Definitely should have looked to see that there was no return policy

This scale not only lacks accuracy, it lacks repeatability. As for accuracy, it is off by 20-40%. It reads off by 20% LIGHT in the center of the pad, is 20% HEAVY at the back, id 20% HEAVY at the right and that error increases up to nearly 40% LIGHT at the front and 30% at the left of the pad. This is indicative of VERY POOR SCALE DESIGN and CONSTRUCTION. Worse yet, you can weigh the same test weight three time in the center of the pad and it will give you three DIFFERENT readings with a spread of over 10%.

Bought this scale for weighing out small oz bags of coffee. It changes every time I put the same product on it. If the product is on the scales and you press down on it with your finger and run it up to say 16oz then let your finger off it changes the original weight too. I have tried everything and now am frustrated as well because I have time sensitive stuff I was to work on.

I bought this scale to keep track of the weight of my bearded dragon. Was super excited to receive it as it is a great looking scale and I loved the tempered glass top. I opened the package and decided to try it out with the first thing I could find which happened to be a travel sized bottle of hand sanitizer.I put it on the scale and the scale quickly read out 39 grams. I figured cool! It works! My wife wanted to check it out too so I put the sanitizer bottle back on the scale, only this time it weighed out as 25 grams, a difference of 14 grams.I decided to do a little testing and quickly realized that the weight differs greatly depending on placement of the object. The bottle weighs 75 grams at the very back of the scale and 23 grams at the very front of the scale. That's quite a variance. Scale is getting returned!

I have had this over a year now, use weekly, and I curse this product every week because I use it probably 2-4 hours a week and make sure it's turned off when not in use and it goes through a battery a week!!!! My food scale in my kitchen hasn't had the battery changed in 4 years! At some point I'll wise up and buy a new scale.

Zero stars!! Only worked for 5 weeks - just broke 2 weeks after the return window and this piece crap does not work though all wiring are good and I even have the plastic wrapping - only used it few times - worthless - not happy at all

This scale is not sensitive enough. When placing an item that was up to 5 ounces it wouldn't register there being anything there more than half the time. Also the procedure to turn the scale on was not very good...it defaults to metric every time so you have to turn on...wait 5 or so seconds for it to zero out, then press the convert button so it will readout in ounces/pounds.

Received the scale and it doesn't work. That's the reason for 1 star. Control unit comes on but doesn't respond to any weight on the platform. :( I'm returning it and don't think I'll take a chance on another. Condition of the unit looked good except for a small dent in the platform on one corner. None of that matters since it doesn't work.

If you're looking for a postal scale that works for any package or envelope that weighs less than a pound, don't buy this scale. Trying to figure out how to return it. Useless for my business when I have to guess the weight of any package less than a pound.
