I really like this little scale.
March 14, 2017
The display is at the front and angles forward so I can see it even when I have a large bowl on the scale. The scale is large enough to accommodate my largest bowls but small enough to occupy an unused corner of the counter without being obvious. It makes breadmaking simpler by foregoing the need for measuring cups.
Great kitchen scale
November 5, 2016
I like this scale. The option to see the readout in pounds and ounces, or just ounces by itself minimizes the math I have to do in my head based on the situation, and that's a good thing. I also like the sensitivity. I often use it to weigh liquids, and previous scales had a lag time that meant I usually added too much. This little guy is quick enough that when I stop pouring, that's the weight it stays at. It doesn't continue to climb as it catches up. Finally, I like the wide rectangular base. Much easier than balancing containers on a circle. Overall, I'm very happy with my scale.
Versatile and accurate with a broad weighing range
March 29, 2015
This small-footprint digital scale is ideal for weighing everything from envelopes to determine postage to weighing ingredients when adjusting recipes in the kitchen. It has a range from .1 oz to 11 lbs which works well when filling vacuum seal freezer bags with measured amounts. I especially love the tare weighing feature which automatically subtracts the container weight. Just turn it on, wait for 0.0 to appear, place the empty container on the scale and press the on-off button again which re-zero's the readout, and then add the food item to be measured. The glass top is also easy to clean. As for those who complain about the auto-shutoff, I find that is a benefit since it will automatically shut off after I'm done weighing and handling food, and the scale can picked up and moved back into storage. Just tap the scale to reset the time-out feature while using it beyond 1 minute.
Surprisingly good.

Works exactly as advertised. Small, slim, packs in the shipping supplies closet nicely. I was concerned that the scale might be sticky (not return precisely to zero, or jump from zero to some higher number without being able to measure light objects), but tests with both heavy and light items did not reveal any problems. Furthermore, all measurements attempted were repeatable to full precision; if I placed an object on the scale, recorded what it reported, removed the object, noted that it read zero, and placed the object back on the scale, it reported what I'd recorded earlier. I have not tested with any standard weights or masses; I don't have that particular need.I was very surprised and pleased at the quality, precision and accuracy of the product, given its price point. The *only* problem I had was that initially the battery wouldn't rest properly in contact with the scale's electrodes. But after a little bit of wiggling of the battery door, it made and has maintained contact, so it's not even worth docking a star.
Great!
July 25, 2014
You'd be surprised at the things you want to weigh, just for the fun of it. The scale looks great, and is fairly easy to read if you can position the product to not cover the display. You can always tell a premium product from a "plastic" product, and this is far to the premium side. The glass top is a nice touch that can easily be cleaned.A small nitpick is the lack of a backlight, because the glare in the kitchen can sometimes cause the display to be illegible. Easily fixed by moving it though.
Use a small or medium bowl so you can see the display on the scale
May 19, 2014
I have had this scale for a few months now, and I can say its awesome! I use it to weigh mail and for food/ ingredients. For the price, it is awesome! The scale can switch from grams, to ounces to ml. The tare function is time saving. My only gripe is its hard to see the display when using a big plate or bowl. So, to correct that, I just use a smaller plate or bowl. No biggie, really.I love to bake, and I started weighing all my ingredients instead of measuring by volume. It has made a huge difference in the end products-- they taste ten times better. Also, I don't have as many measuring cups to clean when I cook! That alone makes this product a keeper. The other great thing about using a scale: weighing what you eat. I am trying to lose weight and I use this scale daily to weigh my lunchmeat, veggies, etc. It is mindblowing to know what 2 oz. of meat really looks like! But, it keeps me in check and on top of my calorie intake each day.

Nice clear fast printing for labels
August 17, 2017
So far, I am really happy with this printer. I bought a thermal printer from stamps.com (I won't mention the brand name), It was JUNK. Lousy quality of print. I send very important documents and I can't mess with poor labels. This printer took me about 45 minutes to set up from the time I opened the box. If Stamps.com does not refund the cost of the two lousy printers I bought from them, then I will cancel my subscription. And I have been a customer of theirs for years.
You have to buy and app to make it work -which is annoying - it's a printer
May 22, 2017
We use this machine with our Shopify business. You have to buy and app to make it work -which is annoying - it's a printer, but I guess that has nothing to do with the product it self. It is a fast printer clean and easy to use. Makes the job go by very fast east to tear lables and great small machine.
Perfect for small businesses!
April 22, 2017
Printing off postage from home compared to having to make trips to the post office is a huge benefit of buying one of these devices. They're pricey but they save time (and therefore money) and gas. If you run any small business (LuLaRoe, etc) from home and ship out a lot of product from your house, this is essential! It's super quick, doesn't use ink (HUGE PLUS) and is really convenient. My wife loves it for her small business and I'm sure yours would, too.
DYMO rocks!
March 30, 2017
Tried my luck with "another brand" and just ended up returning that one and getting the DYMO. Awesome Printer!!! I have a iMac, so not sure how this printer would work with a PC, but I'd highly recommend this machine to anyone who owns a business and needs label printing.
Works great and it DOES work with Paypal Labels on a Mac!
December 15, 2016
This works great for printing shipping labels! I use Paypal's to process shipments and there is a little bit of work required to get it to print with a Mac.-- First, pay for your invoice and click print.-- Go to open in PDF view.-- When in PDF view, you will want snip the shipping label portion only so go to Tools - Rectangular Selection.-- You need to copy this portion of the label so go to Edit - Copy.-- Now, you need to be able to print just this portion so go to File - New from Clipboard. Now that you have just this label ready to print, you need to make sure your print settings are correct.-- Go to File - Print. Under the Paper Size, select Manage Custom Sizes.-- In this screen click the + button and create a new custom size for your labels setting the Paper Size as 4 in width and 6 in height. Keep everything else the same (all margins set to 0).-- When you are back onto the print screen, select the Dymo 4XL and the new custom size you just created.-- Now you will want to click Scale to Fit to ensure the entire label fits for printing. That's it! I was able to use my test labels and not waste one of them to print a shipping label. Now, yes, if you have a LOT of labels to print, this doesn't make sense to do. But, you also should be using something like ShipStation anyway to save on postage and it will print fine with their system. For the one off labels, this is perfect and literally takes a few seconds for each label.
Great Printer For Creating 4x6 Ebay Shipping Labels with a Mac
January 20, 2013
I sell a lot of items on Ebay and I recently purchased this printer for the sole purpose of creating 4x6 inch Ebay Shipping Labels on a Mac. I was worried about whether I could get it to work because I've read about the various problems other people have been having getting it configured and the fact that Label Printers are not officially supported on the Mac. I'm pretty good at figuring things out so I took a chance and bought it. Long story short, I had to come up with my own solution in the end, but I ultimately got it to work quite easily. And I am now happily printing out perfect 4x6 inch Shipping Labels on a Mac. The printer is working flawlessly and the labels I'm printing are perfect. Therefore, this is a printer I highly recommend even if you're using a Mac. Below are the step-by-step instructions on how to got it to work:*********How To Print Perfect 4x6 Shipping Labels from Ebay usng the DYMO LabelWriter 4XL Printer and a Mac...Most users selling items on Ebay already have their computer set up to print labels to their laser printer and to other kinds of printers, and for PC users, that also includes to Label Printers as well, such as the DYMO LabelWriter 4XL printer. Unfortunately for Mac users, Label Printers are not officially supported. The good news is, there is an easy way for Mac users to make use of the DYMO LabelWriter 4XL printer as well, and can easily print out perfect 4 inch by 6 inch shipping labels every single time. The following explains how...For Mac users, when printing a label via Ebay, on the page that says "Purchase and Print USPS Postage", once you've clicked the button that says "Purchase Postage" to buy your label, a secondary page should open allowing you to print your label. It is on that secondary page that we will choose certain options which will allow us to print directly to the DYMO Laserwriter 4XL printer with a Mac, and we can get perfect results every time. The following are my step-by-step instructions...Step 1 - After clicking on the "Purchase Postage" button and arriving on the secondary page, click the button above the label window that says "Print Label". This will open up a Print Dialog Box to allow you to select your printing options. Note, we will NOT be printing from this particular Print Dialog Box at this time because we first have to "crop" the label. To accomplish this, ignore all settings and options in the current Print Dialog Box. Instead, at the bottom of the Print Dialog Box window, click the button that says "Preview". This will open the entire label including your receipt in a separate window in Apple's Preview program. We will now use the "Crop" tool in Apple's Preview program to "crop" the label from the page...Step 2 - Once the label is open in Apple's Preview program, you may notice that it is now oriented sideways. Don't worry about the orientation. It will still print correctly once we're done. In Apple's Preview program, choose the rectangular selection tool and select the area around the label where you want it to be cropped (I generally select an area about a 1/4 inch around the entire label). Once the area has been selected, choose "Crop" from the Tool menu (this crops out the receipt and all other unnecessary portions of the page). All that is left is your label, perfectly cropped, and ready for printing. Note, before you proceed further, make sure your DYMO LabelWriter 4XL printer is connected to your computer and turned on, and that all software has been installed...Step 3 - From the File menu (still in Apple's Preview program) choose the "Print" command. This opens up the Print Dialog box again. We will now choose certain printing options in this dialog box...a. In the Print Dialog box, from the pull-down menu that says "Printer", choose the DYMO LabelWriter 4XL as your printer. (Note, your DYMO LabelWriter 4XL must be connected and turned on at this time in order for it to show up under this menu)...b. VERY IMPORTANT - Under the pull-down menu for "Paper Size", scan down through the list of sizes and choose the preset that says: "1744907 4 in x 6 in". This option will match your cropped label to the 4 inch x 6 inch labels in the 4XL printer (otherwise, it will print at the wrong size). c. ALSO IMPORTANT - Under the Scaling Options, choose the "Scale to Fit" option and also the "Print Entire Image" option (this scales your label image down to fit within the 4 in x 6 in label space without any portion of it being cropped off).d. Under the pull-down menu that says "Preview", pull down the menu and choose "DYMO Options". For the "Print Quality" setting, change the menu from "Text Only" to "Barcode and Graphics". For the "Print Density" setting, change the menu from "Low" to "High" (this tells the DYMO LabelWriter 4XL to print the label with maximum density and with maximum contrast).e. All options have now been set. We are now ready to print. Click the "Print" button at the bottom of the window. Your DYMO 4XL printer should begin printing, and should print out a perfect 4x6 shipping label every single time...By following the above, I've been happily printing out perfect 4x6 shipping labels from Ebay using a DYMO LabelWriter 4XL printer and a Mac. And it's been working without a hitch...**********IMPORTANT UPDATE: For those of you who are using the Mac program Garage Sale when selling items on Ebay, an excellent shipping option to complement Garage Sale is the shipping program called "Endicia" (it costs about $16 per month). Not only does Endicia provide direct USPS Parcel Select support (which Ebay won't offer until March), but I've also learned that Endicia is fully integrated into Garage Sale. Meaning, once you have both Garage Sale and Endicia installed on your computer, and you then make an Ebay sale, in the Inspector Palette of Garage Sale there is an option you can choose which allows you to "ship the item with Endicia". By choosing that option from within Garage Sale, Garage Sale will then automatically find and launch your Endicia application, and the best part of all is that (...GET THIS!!!...) when Endicia opens, it will already be pre-populated with all your Ebay sale data! That's right, you won't have to copy and paste anything because all your Ebay details for the transaction will already be imported into Endicia and you'll be ready to print your label. All you have to do is just verify everything you see, make any changes needed, and then Print your shipping label. It's so easy. And did I mention that the Endicia for Mac program also offers direct support for the DYMO LabelWriter 4XL printer. That's right. Ebay doesn't offer any Label Printer support for Mac users, Paypal doesn't offer it, Stamps.com doesn't offer it, but Endicia DOES! There is a preference option in the Endicia for Mac program where Mac users can now print directly to the DYMO LabelWriter 4XL printer without any fuss or problems at all. I've been printing 4x6 labels using Endicia and the 4XL and it's been working like a charm. The 4x6 shipping labels are coming out perfect (even better than printing them via Ebay as outlined above). Endicia and Garage Sale are like a match made in heaven. I've found very few things otherwise to complain about. If you want a great Ebay shipping option solution that truly works on a Mac and is designed for a Mac, then Garage Sale and Endicia and the DYMO LabelWriter 4XL printer is your ticket.

Nice scale with one little hitch.
May 1, 2017
Very accurate with an easy to read display. The only drawback for me is that it uses a harder to find watch battery. I would have preferred AA or AAA. The battery size is listed in the description (cr2032 lithium battery) but if it is a nonstandard size that should be prominently avertised.
sturdy, and appears to be very accurate
November 29, 2016
It is still early, but so far the scale is very well made, sturdy, and appears to be very accurate. The only problem is that it is very small and if you put a big package on it it is very difficult or almost impossible to read. This happened on the first package I weighed. All in all it appears to be a good scale for the money.
The surprisingly good, precise little scale sure is earnest
October 18, 2015
The surprisingly good, precise little scale sure is earnest! One star deducted for the fact that one of the measuring modes is in milliliters. Yes, milliliters, as in, a measure of volume. This *WEIGHT* scale, or *MASS* scale, if you prefer, somehow manages to include measurement units normally (or *always*, if you prefer precision) reserved for the geometric space taken up by liquids. Does that slight physical impossible deter this workhorse lil' scale? No, it does not. This scale will happily measure the volume of your liquids by weighing them. If thinking about that makes you feel dense, don't worry; this scale doesn't care about density.
Works for me, in more than one way.
April 13, 2015
I like the fact that this piece is sleek and henceforth, unobtrusive in my pantry work space. I've never owned a small scale and find it very handy to have, upping my confidence in cooking. I know that doesn't attest to this particular scale, but with such a nice look, I leave it exposed and have used it often for small items. I have also used it for making sure I am getting what I need for various small item purchases off the Internet.... for example, I checked the weight of a broken chair caster and compared it to the weight of one online to make sure of that purchase before I bought it. Bathroom scales are pretty much useless for that kind of thing. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is simply because I don't inflate my reviews.
the display is easy to read and the small stylish design is perfect ...
February 5, 2015
I'm an Etsy and Storenvy seller, and I was getting really tired of going to the post office and getting a surprise on the price. This little guy has helped out a bunch with that! the display is easy to read and the small stylish design is perfect for using and then stowing away. It is small though. I sell tank tops and Sweatshirts and I have very little problem seeing around my package to the numbers, but there have been a couple of large orders i've had to put something I could balance the package on, set it back to zero, then look at the package. that the only reason its 4?5 instead of 5/5 stars though. I wish it was a bit longer in the back so that I wouldn't have to situate the package so I coul see around it for the display. Some reviews have mentioned a misread on the weight, but as far as I can tell i haven't had that problem at all.
Great scale; Read-out Not Lit
January 5, 2015
So far, I love this scale. Exactly what I needed. So why the 4 stars and not 5? No light on the read-out. I know, read the product description. OK, I just re-read it plus some of the reviews and, nope, nothing says it's not lit. Question is, why should they? Because almost every other picture of a Smart Weigh product shows a light. I just assumed...why wouldn't this one be as well? Why wouldn't they ALL be lit? So, partly my bad, but I sure would have liked that particular added to the description. Otherwise, excellent scale, great price, quality item.

Does the job right but not worth 150+
September 6, 2017
For $150+, cheap plastic feel printer. One would think you'd get a lot o' bang for your buck. I'm not sure if this'll last for more than a year because it has flimsy feel to it and not solid. Now I know Zebra's and others are in a different league but I think Dymo should offer slightly better heavy duty product for this price point. IMHO, this type of label should not cost more than 80 bucks (period).Operation front: It does a good job in printing. It has skipped labels few times but I'm unsure if the issue is with roll or the roll alignment. We have been using this printer for a month now but to get my investment return I hope it runs at least for two years.
I chose this over a Zebra for looks. Honestly ...
July 6, 2017
I chose this over a Zebra for looks. Honestly that is the only reason why. I am running my home business in my room as opposed to some makeshift garage setup. I felt a Zebra would look out of place and I value appearance and design, especially when it's out in the open. That being said, it does do its job quite well. I have printed from both eBay and Amazon with ease. I only dock a star because the design makes you use their labels. I use HouseLabels which are cheaper, but the Zebra design allows you to use the free ones you can get from UPS. Aside from that, both form and function of this printer are 5 stars for my use.
This would be great if it did not suck in almost every conceivable way
April 14, 2017
Update - After significant configuring and hoop jumping this product works like a dream. The 10-12 hours spent getting it there was extraordinarily frustrating.I could not be more disgruntled with this product. I have spent hours trying to get it to print and function properly...This included having to use Terminal on my mac and then going to a hidden page on my computer to manually change settings that the print drivers should have handled - with 4x6 labels I am unlikely to ever print 8x11 - yet that is what it defaulted to. Forget making these changes from the printers screen at system preferences - it is required that you google to find this page...Ok great, all the settings are changed, and the computer recognizes and seems to want to speak with the printer...No such luck, as now the printer is sending the message to the computer that it is out of paper. Back to Google and find out that this company has decided in order to get people to pay $.07 per label that they will add whizbang technology that determines if the paper was sold by them - in this case I am using the roll of paper that came with the printer but it has outsmarted the technology some how...Lots of plugging and unplugging and reloading and retesting and resetting and other total wastes of time before some web forum somewhere suggests to delete the drivers and reload them... At this point I was game for anything so went through that process...Only to be back at square one... computer did not recognize the printer... ok I know how to fix it - go back to the super secret CUPS page and change the settings... and amazingly enough it printed... then it scrolled through 7 labels at 7 cents per label this printer should never waste a single label....So more fiddling and googling and tried a number of things - once i got it to only scroll 5 times - but once it went 12 and then my most recent print was half the label before it stopped scrolling at all... best i can figure is that it is the sensor that is trying to prevent counterfeit labels absolutely sucking at its job...I realized from the start they had not sent many labels and thought that it was very cheap of the company - but each time I would tear off 5/7/10/12 labels without really thinking about it... So I am now out of labels to even keep troubleshooting and being asked to pay for more - FAT CHANCEHonestly this reminded me of the stupidness that was Windows 2 & 3 where we had to change settings in config.sys and autoexec.bat just to get new software to run...My very first thought when opening the box was I was shocked it was not wireless, before I even started I went and googled how much it would be to get a wireless USB dongle to get it wireless - i now understand why these guys guys have not fiddled with the cutting edge wireless protocols from 2003, they might in fact be rubbing sticks together to make fire that is about the technology sophistication I have seen from them.I am sure this is an amazing product for some - but after something like 8 hours of dedicated frustration I am looking at other solutions instead of this...
Good printer, though some problems with networking through Airport Base Station
February 22, 2016
So far this printer is working fine on my Mac. Print quality is better than I expected it to be (compared to the LabelWriter 450). One star deducted for Dymo's strong-arm practice of requiring you to buy their overpriced labels in order to use the Dymo Stamps service. Sorry, but no... I'll use these much more reasonably priced labels: MFLABEL Dymo 1744907 Shipping Labels Compatible LabelWriter 4XL 4"x6" of 220 Postage Labels (BPA free) (4 Rolls) and buy my postage through PayPal or VIPparcel. As others have mentioned, printing PayPal labels with the 4XL on a Mac requires jumping through a few hoops. There is word that PayPal is working on implementing a PDF-based system to replace the current Java method (the source of why Macs can't print directly to label printers). If this is the case, printing from a Mac will need a few less steps (though it will supposedly add a step for PC users). I've also tried using a relatively new service called VIPparcel (Google it to find their site). They offer nearly identical postage pricing as PayPal, but their labels are ready to print straight to the 4XL (the only TINY change that needs to be performed is changing the print scaling to 99%, or specifying in the print box that you only want to print page 1, as apparently the label size generated is just a little bit bigger than the 4XL's print area, prompting this extra white space to carry over to a second page). One troublesome issue I ran into is with setting up this printer on my network via the USB port on the Apple Airport Base Station. I've successfully used my LabelWriter 450 for years in this manner. Adding a LabelWriter 4XL to my setup, I bought a small USB hub so that both could be connected at the same time (some sources said this would not work, but Apple's own documentation said it would work fine). While both printers did indeed become accessible and could be printed to, I found that the 4XL would periodically "freeze up" and refuse to print (with "Airport printer is busy" being reported by the OS). Turning it off/on would restore functionality, but after printing a few more labels, it would again stop printing.I also tried JUST the 4XL connected directly to the Airport (no USB hub), and also tried using an Airport Express I had laying around, but these yielded the same result (though I could usually print more labels with these setups before the printer locked up, while when connected through the hub alongside the 450, usually just 1 or 2 labels could be printed).I don't actually need these two printers to be accessible from multiple machines... I only networked them because the location I preferred to place them was not near the computer. But with the 4XL not working reliably through the Airport, I reluctantly moved both printers to my desk so that they could be connected directly to the Mac's USB port.Though I find it odd that the 450 works fine through the Airport while the 4XL does not (for me at least), I did not deduct any stars for this, as it quite possibly could be Apple's fault. Then again, given Dymo's tactic of requiring you to buy their labels if you want to use Dymo Stamps for postage, it wouldn't surprise me if they intentionally created an incompatibility with the Airport in order to force you to buy their print server.
How I print from USPS website
January 12, 2016
We ship exclusively by USPS Priority Flat Rate and I purchased the DYMO LabelWriter 4XL as I had read it has the ability to print directly from the USPS website. Not so! I was unable to configure the printer settings, or USPS website settings, to get the correct orientation for printing. Very Frustrating!I called DYMO Tech Support and was told they do not offer support of their product when used with USPS. They only offer support when you use their DYMOstamps site or another site that charges a monthly fee.I was close to sending it back, but decided to look around for a fix. After more time than I care to admit looking for an answer, I pasted together the fix below that is not ideal but works for me as I am not shipping everyday. I'm using my PC for printing. How To Print From USPS Website to DYMO LabelWriter 4XL:1. From the USPS Website choose PDF instead of Print Label.2. Open or Save PDF (I open the PDF to save steps, but you can Save if you want to print later). Your file will likely open with Adobe Reader.3. Choose View --> Rotate View --> Clockwise (or counterclockwise, or 90 degrees - just be sure the image is in Portrait view)4. Choose Edit --> Take a Snapshot5. Select/Highlight the label's 4x6ish area.6. Right click in the highlighted area and select Print.7. Choose the DYMO LabelWriter 4XL from your printer options and print. Voila, a perfect print every time! Also under your Printer --> Properties --> Advanced, be sure to set the Paper Size to 4in x 6in (1744907).This takes about a half dozen clicks to get the job done, but it beats the old paper, print, scissor and tape method I was using for so long.I hope this saves someone time and frustration. Feel free to let me know if you have a better fix!The 4XL was easy to install and connect, and it does print quickly and quietly.
Great time saver
June 3, 2015
I use to print labels off of my normal printer (two labels per page). As i only have one tray, i had to constantly get up and feed the labels the correct face down each time. I had to then trim the label for smaller packages. If i only needed one label of the two per sheet, it got a little tricky and took some time or i wasted labels. With the DYMO printer, my prep time has been cut considerably. The labels are the perfect size for my small packages and the printer is small enough to sit on my desk. The labels print quickly and quietly. If you do any amount of stamp or label printing, this is the solution.I use stamps.com and no issue whatsoever. The only thing that seems to be an issue is that this printer needs to be the default printer (at least as far as i could tell) so when switching applications and needing to go to my work printer, i have to make sure i print to the correct device and ensure my page layout is correct.

I don't demand a lot from my kitchen scale as I only use it for coffee beans in whole-gram increments. It weighs items well enough but the quick shutoff is annoying when using it for pour-over coffee.
Pretty accurate...I think...(not the best for weighing mail)
February 12, 2014
I bought this beacuse I just started selling some stuff on ebay (no offense, Amazon) and wanted to avoid the post office like the plague. I mostly sell clothing so my packages are about 8x11 inches and unfortunatley this covers the screen so it's kind of hard to read the weight with the package on it. This would be fine except that when you take off the package the numbers go away so you have to sneakily get a peek at the weight. There should be a way to keep the weight on the screen for at least a few seconds and if there is a way I haven't found it. the other problem I have with it is that, even on a flat surface, the scale can weigh things differently at different times. I have tested it out a few times and it is usually different by .2 oz each time. This leaves me always rounding up just in case the scale is wrong. BOTTOM LINE: I think this is best suited for weighing food and very small parcels. I can't believe I just wrote that much about a scale.

Saves time: For the cost it doesn't match 5 star standards though
October 14, 2017
This is unfortunately a necessary evil that helps with small business that ship. The printer is far more expensive than anyone really needs outside of a business. USE: Business only MAIN BENEFIT: Time Saving COST EFFECTIVE: How much is your time worth? The reason this receives 3 stars is due to printer issues that occur every so often. It fails to print at times and you have to power it off and then power it back on again by unplugging it to get the thing to chug on again. This takes time (which the printer is suppose to help save) and is an inconvenience, so I felt the need to dock it 2 stars due to the price point ratio to quality build item. If it was 50 dollars, then I would say ya, it is a 5 star product, but it is not! That said: it is a nice item to have for small business that frequently ship. It has saved a lot of time instead of printing on a laser printer and taping it onto boxes. We might have just paid for the machine with time savings after a year of use. The rolls of tags are not cheap though, so keep that in mind. It is again cheaper to purchase tags you can use on a laser printer, but again that takes more time to put together when printing. (so how much is your time worth?) I recommend going for the medium cost rolls as DYMO brand is of course way over priced and the cheapest rolls will only give you headaches, which you buy this machine to not have... I have had no issues with these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JQOPGQO/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0 (I recommend them out of experience and have never received free products or solicitations from them.)
Works sometimes and sometimes doesn't
April 7, 2017
I really like the idea of just having a printer for labels only. The main issue is that out of nowhere it stops working and I have to unplug the electric cord and wait a few minutes than re plug and it will work. This gets frustrating when I am trying to print a lot of shipping labels quickly. they really should do something about the connection. I also waste labels when this happens, as I send to the printer twice or push the front button to make sure it works. Too bad, because when it works it's great but this slows down my production. From what I have read this has happened a lot. That's how I knew to unplug and plug back in.
Waste of Time and Money for My Shipping Purposes
February 21, 2017
I wanted to give this label writer a good review, as I have friend who swear by it; however, it is cumbersome, works only with iMac and macbook (not iPod or iPhone), and I wrestled with the newest version of 8.6 demo label software for weeks before finally contacting support. Apparently there's a bug in the new software, so they sent me directions to uninstall and reinstall 8.5.3. SO FRUSTRATING... this, after I chewed up a half a roll of labels trying to make it work. Now that it works, the screen capture for the labels consistently produces blurry/ fuzzy printouts, and all I can think of is how much I prefer the MUCH CHEAPER laser printer (HP) with half sheet labels that work so well wirelessly from ALL of my devices. I consider this a waste of money and of time. The only thing it does do for you is eliminate the need for scissors and glue if you've been doing labeling old-school. You can create your own professional looking label in their software, but considering my plan for use was mostly for printing prepaid shipping 4x6 labels from eBay (makeitclear), Poshmark (ringleader), and Tradesy (discountdesigner) sales, it's just a waste of time and money with the other options available with wireless printers. That said, I do leave KUDOS for their support team and chat feature. What problems I did have were efficiently cared for when I finally decided it wasn't my fault that the printer wasn't performing properly. I can see this printer becoming obsolete if they don't step of the game of accommodating more auto-imported labels.
this printer is the best. Regardless of what brand of label you use
May 11, 2016
When it works properly, this printer is the best. Regardless of what brand of label you use, this printer will continuously feed labels non-stop after printing the first one. Probably the most frustrating aspect of this printer. I've tried every suggested fix, different types of labels, printing with the top open, printing with the top closed, only feeding 5 or less labels and the end result 90% of the time is blinking blue light coupled with a miss feed. Like I said, when it works like it is designed to...greatest printer ever, but those moments have been far and few between.
Excellent printer for small time user, but has its bugs
February 17, 2016
This printer has been a godsend for my eBay shipping and the minor shipping I do for our products on Amazon. It worked perfectly and I absolutely loved it but then something went a bit haywire and I cannot print just one label using the roll anymore. I print one and then the sensor does not catch that it is one and the roll of labels just rolls and rolls and rolls-nothing prints on these extras but it is a real pain. I am only using their brand of labels, cleaned the sensor as recommended and also tried to get it handled with customer service. But no luck.So now I have to cut out just one label, insert just one label and print that one label. It is the only method that works. For me it is not an issue, just a bother, as I don't print huge quantities of labels. That being said, I do love this printer and it has been a great value for me but could be a real pain for someone that needed to print a lot. But, in that case, I suppose they would invest in a more expensive pro printer.I do recommend buying it for the small time user and hopefully you won't have the problem I have had, but it is solvable with a bit of bother.
Okay for domestic labels, cuts off international labels (when it works, that is)
August 5, 2015
I bought this printer almost 9 months ago to print shipping labels exclusively for my Etsy shop. Through Etsy, there is no additional fee to print shipping and it usually works fine.I haven't found a way to print postage directly from USPS. If possible, I like to pay online to get the lower price and the option of scheduling a pickup instead of running to the post office. My workaround is printing the USPS label to a PDF, cropping and resizing the PDF in Adobe Illustrator, and then printing to the DYMO from PDF. That's a pain, but I can live with it since I knew ahead of time there is a monthly charge to use with stamps.com or other programs. So why only 3 stars?1. It was a pain to install the first time and I had recurring issues with my computer not finding the printer and printing on it correctly from the get go.2. Many expensive labels were wasted because the machine was NOT aligning the top of the label with the hole in the label (which I thought was the point of the hole), so the postage was printing mostly on one label and about an inch on another label. Waste of 2 labels. This happened repeatedly until it somehow became better aligned.3. I've NEVER been able to get my international postage to center on the label. Every single time it cuts off the "ship to", "ship from", and the first part of the description of the contents. This has led to some confusion by postal handler during pickup and packages have been delayed. I don't have this issue for domestic shipping labels, only international. I don't understand why it would cut off one label type but not another when they're supposed to be formatted to fit the 4x6" label size. I have spent hours trying to figure it out (online forums, playing with the settings to try to shrink the print area) to no avail. It looks unprofessional and is a waste of time to have to write in the first couple letters of someone's name or the contents when they should print correctly to begin with.4. I recently installed Windows 10 on my computer and DYMO disappeared from my printer list. I spent a couple hours trying to troubleshoot and find the printer from the "add a printer" menu. Finally I reinstalled the printer and it started working again. All of my other printers were automatically detected and didn't need to be reinstalled.5. Cost of buying DYMO brand labels. You're only supposed to use DYMO brand labels, but with the number of labels this printer wastes, I eventually went with an off brand, which works just fine. I've used both DYMO and off-brand labels and the issues above were present with both brands.Luckily I got this printer on Amazon for a much lower price than on some other websites. Still, for the price I paid, I expect it to do it's one basic function without so many technical difficulties. I did a lot of research before buying this printer and now think I should have gone with something else.

Nice scale, good look
June 18, 2016
Nice scale, good look, however stopped working after almost one year and half of normal home usage (started showing random numbers when you put something on the scale). Another cons - capacity of the coin battery is very small.
unreliab
September 4, 2015
Nice size, I like the glass top, and the fact that you can use the tare function. Unfortunately the scale died after about 6 months of use. Changing the battery did not help.

Poor Descriptions of Product
June 1, 2014
I didn't expect this kitchen balance to provide weights in whole numbers only. I had expected to give portions of whole amounts such as 1.1 ounces or 1.1 grams but instead, it only measures in whole numbers so you can't be as accurate as you might need to be, for instance while doing a chemistry experiment or weighing something where's it's extremely important to have an accurate weight.

It is astounding how bad this thing sucks. Purchasing it is one of the profound regrets of my entire life.
June 6, 2017
DO NOT BUY! This thing is not really a printer. It is a scam to burn through very expensive labels. Everything you do wastes labels. EVERYTHING. No matter what you do you'll end up wasting 20-50%. Amazon will frequently only let you buy one roll of labels at a time, and if you do any shipping at all you will burn through them more quickly than you will replace them. The ONLY reason I gave this product two stars is because some sites allow vendors to discard so many 1 star reviews per month.I cannot overstate how much I HATE this device and everything it stands for. I cannot overstate how much I feel like all that I did by purchasing it was open a funnel for DYMO to reach into my wallet. It is the only printer to offer a mac based driver for some popular apps like Shipstation. Do NOT LET THIS FOOL YOU INTO BUYING THIS PILE OF CRAP. You will easily save the purchase price of a dedicated printer PC compatible machine and all the power to run it by not having to purchase labels for this junkpile.YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Too many bugs to justify keeping it
April 28, 2017
This is a nice machine...when it works...however my experience has been mostly frustrating. I have to unplug the power daily in order to get it to print. Previously I would hit print and nothing would happen. It would say the printer is active and online but would never be able to print the labels. I would be able to print to my laser printer and other devices, just the DYMO would not work. I am pretty disappointed in DYMO given their reputation for this field. I would recommend a Zebra or another machine instead of this buggy printer.
handy WHEN it works
March 29, 2017
This printer is definitely handy WHEN it WORKS. I have had multiple problems including the printer randomly wasting 4+ labels at a time & the USB not being recognized; other times it works perfectly. Makes no sense to me. I look forward to finding a better alternative without all of the issues. It's a label printer... in 2017... these kinks should be worked out by now.
Works really well - until it doesn't!
February 27, 2017
The DYmo LableWriter 4XL is an incredible label printer. It has saved me an enormous amount of work, money and time. When everything is going smoothly, I couldn't be happier with the printer.Unfortunately, it rarely goes smoothly. The printer will be working fine, and all of the sudden it will just start spewing out dozens of blank labels at a time. I then have to go through several processes to try and fix it. Feed the paper back into the paper (because I don't love the idea of wasting so much money on blank labels - it's ridiculous how expensive the Dymo labels are), reinstall the drivers, do a hard reset, etc. Most of the time, it takes a good 2 hours to get this stupid thing fixed. Most of the time, I press the "feed" button and it spews out a label and a half, making it impossible to setup everytime I need to switch labels.I am using the actual Dymo labels, so it has nothing to do with unlicensed labels. Like I said though, when I finally get it back up and running, it works incredibly well. Unfortunately, I know it's just a matter of days, sometimes just hours, until the problem arises again.
you have to use their special labels) and what's worse is it randomly prints a new label spanning over ...
October 27, 2016
It works, but it's very sketchy. I use this product for printing 4x6 shipping labels. I've owned better/more expensive Zebra printers in the past, but decided to give the DYMO a chance because it's smaller and cheaper - well, you get what you pay for. This thing is junk. It prints, but consistently doesn't see the end of the label and keeps spooling out paper, which you cannot retract to save it. So, you end up wasting labels (which because it's DYMO, you have to use their special labels) and what's worse is it randomly prints a new label spanning over 2 4x6 stickers, further causing me to be frustrated and disappointed i wasted my money on the piece of garbage. GET A ZEBRA, you'll be glad you did.
Definitely not impressed.
December 10, 2014
I have a mac. I did figure out how to set up the printer to work though and it wasn't too difficult (with paypal). The issue I had was that that little scissor line that prints out on paypal labels was printing onto a second label wasting it. I attempted to reverse the label feed to suck that label back in so that I could reuse it. The label came off of the paper and stuck onto the roller. Let me just say, no one on earth has fingers small enough to get into this machines little spot where the roller is. I did manage to unstick it though. Feeling accomplished, I put the thing back together and tried to feed the label paper back onto the roller. Well what do you know? The roller is now super sticky! Yes, anything and everything stuck to it. Another paper jam. I left it be before I chucked it at the wall. Can't return something all busted up you know. I came back a while later and used a cloth and windex and fiddled with the contraption until the roller felt unsticky. Indeed it was unsticky. However, the labels would not feed right. They went to one side, then the other and jammed up and the machine made a horrendous noise. Back in the box this went and I will continue to use my stone age laser printer along with my label sheets until this thing dies. What a headache! Oh, and I would have had to pay shipping to return the extra roll of 220 labels so now I'm stuck with them.

Not very accurate
I can not recommend this brand or model.
August 27, 2016
I opened the box and pulled the tape to activate the scale. It worked the first time. When I turned it off and turned it back on it would not work. It seemed only to work when I re-inserted the battery, but for one time only (after taking the battery in and out of the machine.) I returned the scale to Amazon and bought a different brand. I would have thought this would have been tested at the factory BEFORE shipping.
Do Not Buy - Broke after Weeks
May 25, 2016
Broke after a few weeks. I thought the battery was just dead, but new batteries wouldn't bring it back to life. Definitely should have looked to see that there was no return policy
This thing isn't even close to accurate!!!
July 5, 2015
This scale not only lacks accuracy, it lacks repeatability. As for accuracy, it is off by 20-40%. It reads off by 20% LIGHT in the center of the pad, is 20% HEAVY at the back, id 20% HEAVY at the right and that error increases up to nearly 40% LIGHT at the front and 30% at the left of the pad. This is indicative of VERY POOR SCALE DESIGN and CONSTRUCTION. Worse yet, you can weigh the same test weight three time in the center of the pad and it will give you three DIFFERENT readings with a spread of over 10%.
Bad one in the Bunch

Bought this scale for weighing out small oz bags of coffee. It changes every time I put the same product on it. If the product is on the scales and you press down on it with your finger and run it up to say 16oz then let your finger off it changes the original weight too. I have tried everything and now am frustrated as well because I have time sensitive stuff I was to work on.
Not accurate.

I bought this scale to keep track of the weight of my bearded dragon. Was super excited to receive it as it is a great looking scale and I loved the tempered glass top. I opened the package and decided to try it out with the first thing I could find which happened to be a travel sized bottle of hand sanitizer.I put it on the scale and the scale quickly read out 39 grams. I figured cool! It works! My wife wanted to check it out too so I put the sanitizer bottle back on the scale, only this time it weighed out as 25 grams, a difference of 14 grams.I decided to do a little testing and quickly realized that the weight differs greatly depending on placement of the object. The bottle weighs 75 grams at the very back of the scale and 23 grams at the very front of the scale. That's quite a variance. Scale is getting returned!

Broke in less than a month of use.. (Maybe 15 Labels)
August 11, 2017
Received this Dymo machine the end of June and I have literally printed less than 15 labels (8/11/17), last night I sent 1 label to it and it started printing and would not stop! Its a good thing I still have the started roll in the machine because I could not stop it until I pulled the power, by then the roll had emptied and it print the one label again every two blank labels so none of them could be salvaged. To make matters worse I called Dymo and they had me run some tests only to be told I needed to send them the machine because they can't fix it, they will send me a REFURBISHED machine back.. WTH!! I paid $179 for this less than two months ago and now I am getting a machine that has already been returned!! When I questioned why I was not getting a new machine back I was told they are on backorder... Cannot send it back through Amazon because its over 30 days... Seriously! I am pissed beyond words...
Amazing printer! ... When it was working.
March 23, 2017
I purchased my printer on November 7, 2016, and have been using it steadily for a few months. Today (March 23, 2017), my label writer decided to stop working completely. For no reason! I had just printed several labels on it, but after trying to print the next, it simply won't connect to my Mac. I've uninstalled the driver, reinstalled it, unplugged everything, replugged everything, restarted my computer -- all to no avail. After attempting to eject the label roll I was using from the printer, it turns out, my Dymo LabelWriter 4XL can't even do that! The only thing that seems to "work" on it are the lights, and that's it.I've tried emailing Dymo, but their website gives me an error when I do this. I've tried calling, but they aren't available. I spent a lot of money on this printer. I'm really upset. :(When it DID work, it was a dream! It printed quickly, made my life easier -- I thought I was set. No more needing to buy ink cartridges, no more needing to tape paper labels to my packages -- I could just stick Dymo labels on with ease! But if this thing starts malfunctioning (like it has for several other users) just a few months later, what's the point? Please make this right, Dymo.
Nothing but trouble with Dymo
January 18, 2017
This is the 2nd Dymo Thermal Label Printer I have had since Sept. I print hundreds of labels a month from stamps.com. Both started out well, and then with each of them the trouble started. They skip labels, print partial labels, print double labels (with 10 blank labels in between), spew out 100 blank labels at a time, and don't stop at the correct tear zone. Now I am returning this second one, which I purchased from Amazon in November. I won't be trying Dymo again.
Utterly disappointed by this printer
December 18, 2016
We bought this to print shipping labels for our coffee roasting business and after spending 3 days trying to get labels printing correctly through Shiprobot (exhausting the tiny roll of labels that came with the remarkably expensive unit), I had to go back to printing sheet labels on our laser printer. There is no documentation or software in the box, downloading from the DYMO site took more than an hour (was like being connected to a site via dial-up) and there is absolutely NO support documentation that I could find on their "support" site other than a generic user guide.
Absolute waste of money. I'm beyond disappointed.
November 4, 2016
Absolutely HORRIBLE product. I can't even believe this product is as expensive as it is. For this price, you would think it would work FLAWLESSLY. This has been the hardest time I've ever had trying to print labels in my life and customer support did absolutely nothing to help! I'm actually super disappointed in this product and this company. The very first time I used this product, through stamps.com to print labels, it did not recognize that any paper was in there and when I finally got it to recognize paper (after wasting 2 labels) it would print the sample and them when I print the actual label, it doesn't print all the way and then feeds through 2-4 EMPTY labels and then says there is no paper in there again when there clearly is. I literally wasted a WHOLE roll of labels and only successfully printed NINE labels!!!! What a waste of postage through stamps.com as well!!! This is absolutely ridiculous. I would not recommend this product to anyone. When I called Dymo for help she said I had to buy another roll of labels for her to troubleshoot it! 1) why would i buy a WHOLE other roll of paper when this machine ate up my whole first roll for 9 labels??????? and 2) why would i buy a WHOLE other roll if I might not even want this horrible product. This is seriously just unacceptable. I'm very disappointed.
If you want to use this for Stamps.com on a Mac, don't waste your time.
August 12, 2015
I tried for 2 hours to get this label printer working. I completely wasted those two hours and wound up with a pile of ruined label paper.I have a Macbook Pro, Yosemite OS, Version 10.10.3. I was trying to use this label printer with Stamps.com.First, I tried installing the software on the disk this came with. When that didn't work, and labels still came out messed up, I uninstalled it, and tried reinstalling the latest driver on the DYMO website. When that still didn't work, I uninstalled it and tried the older driver. Nope. The oldest driver? No. Every time I tried to print, the printer would burp up about 1/4" of the label, print job terribly garbled, then the print would halt. The print settings would say, "Unable to send data to printer". Nothing I did would give me a label. No settings and no software helped. Huge waste of time.
