GREAT
August 18, 2016
Really happy with these black out liners. They work. Installation was easy. I have grommet curtains. The liner is made of sturdy material. One side white and the other a dark grey/blue. 1 liner per package. I bought 2.Attached pic of contrasting windows with and without liners.
Just what I needed.
June 29, 2016
These were my answer for a pair of bedroom curtains I really liked and wanted to keep, but were too sheer at night, and let the sun come streaming in and heating up the room in most of the day in Summer. I live in the California Central Valley heat, with no A/C, and blocking sunlight is very important for keeping the house comfortable. They really do a good job of it. They come with stuff you may or may not need. The instructions could be a little better, I had a hard time seeing what the grey-toned photocopied diagrams were trying to illustrate, and I love it when I can just see a picture and know what they are trying to say. The first type of curtain diagramed was easy to see, therefore understand. The second, somewhat less so, the rest really needn't have had the unclear diagrams, but the written instructions are good enough. In my case I was using them behind tab top curtains on a single rod. There are quite a few different ways you can put them up. They have tabs with rings attached (and you can use the rings or just the tabs), little white braided ties, and a rod channel My curtains had a few more tabs on them than these do, and I didn't want to get an extra cafe rod just yet so I used the small little loops on the top border with the ties provided to tie up the parts that were sagging because of my extra tabs. There were plenty provided. It looks perfect. I was able to do that because my tab top curtains don't have the tabs exposed, they are on the backside of the curtain tops, otherwise I would not have gotten away with the additional ties, and would've probably opted for the separate cafe rod. I may later on anyway, in cooler weather for my sheers in daytime and these at night. Lots of curtain types, lots of options! I'm showing a photo with them almost closed, I left a gap so I could see what I was doing. The other photo I took after switching on a light. They would hang straighter but there is a bed against that wall. I am very sensitive to smells, especially chemical smells, I have breathing issues, and I can't detect any odor at all, and they hang in full sun most of the day. I think they are great.
Great liner!
March 15, 2016
The sunshine was making the pattern in my curtains less visible and these liners block the sun out very well. The picture shows the drastic difference. The curtains have hardware and detailed instructions on how to hang the liner with various types of curtains. It's pretty great. One thing I must mention if you are using these with grommet style curtains is they work best with curtains with eight grommets. Mine happen to only have six which posed a slight problem that was remedied by folding the last section inward and doubling up the hooks.
Works great, just bought another
February 24, 2015
This panel is great. Easy to install and made of high quality, light-blocking material. One panel is enough to cover the full width of my standard size windows (32ish inches?) with enough left over on the sides to keep any light from sneaking in. I was confused when picking out the size, because the lengths were different from usual curtain lengths. When the packaging arrived, it listed the sizes better:45" x 56" = fits 63" length curtains45" x 77" = fits 84" length curtains45" x 88" = fits 95" length curtains45" x 101" = fits 108" length curtainsBecause of these liners, I no longer have to wear an eye mask to sleep past dawn.
Works great and NO smell
April 26, 2014
I read a lot of reviews that mentioned a smell. It isn't there. They must've changed the product somehow because there is no smell whatsoever. It does what it says it will and keeps out the light.
They are perfect and worked out for me. 5 stars!!!
November 22, 2013
I was skeptical about buying this liner because of all the reviews about the odour. After a week of mulling I ordered them since these were the only liners available on amazon that fit my requirement. When I received the liners I was ready to throw them into the washing machine and let them air dry to get rid of the odour every one seems to have wriiten about, but my liners were fine!! There was no smell.

These work great. The instructions could have been a bit more detailed. Also, the tops flop over when used on grommet curtains. There were little ties that were included that might have been intended to correct this problem, but with the lack-luster instructions, I threw them away before realizing their possible intended purpose. Great reduction in light and heat in my east facing bedroom.
Lux and darling for a reasonable price!
June 18, 2016
I love these liners. They are heavy and nice quality and work very well for my toddler's bedroom. There is also sweet detail on the top of the curtain, which no one will probably see, but something about it just makes these curtains a little more darling and lux. The inside of the liner is a nice color--like a muted blue or dark lavender, though, again, you probably won't see it.
Rings won't fit on a 1-3/8" Diameter Rod
May 5, 2016
Overall I liked the liner and it was packaged real nice ( each ring was wrapped in plastic). And I need a liner the would work with light weight grommet curtain and not actually have to be attached to my curtain.I sniffed and there was no odor, but I didn't fully open the liner, I just opened enough to test if it would fit on my 1-3/8" diameter curtain rods. It barely fit, way too snug for my use, since it took a lot of force to slide teh ring on my curtain rods and I like to open and close my drapes. Great idea. I just wish they had posted the ring diameter in the specs, so I saved myself sometime. I have to return these and shop again :(Update: 7/26 Decided to keep the curtain since they seemed to to be made well. I hung the one panel I bought up for about 2 weeks to test if any odors were cause from the intense heat and sun of my huge western exposure window. No problems with odors, so then I tested with some cheap, 2", stainless rings that are actual office supply 'book rings' (SPR01439) they can be opened and closed to fit in the existing sewn loops, but we are going to lift up the panel and attach the ring through 2 loops of the 'looped trim' that was meant for hooking directly to curtains. I'm doing that because the loops make drop pretty low and the light shows through the top ~6 inch of the curtain and it sort of looks cheapo. If my curtain rod was a tad higher it would be a problem.Overall I am happy enough to but the other 13 panels I need to fit this one monster window in our living room and I may also do it in west side window of the master bedroom. I love the flood of light, but it makes the room hot all summer and it's cold in the winter because it is a huge window as well.
Perfect
February 5, 2015
I can't even find anything bad to say about this!! A little pricey maybe but worth the money spent. I bought two of them. They come with rings to slide on your rod and it also comes with ties if you need to tie to current curtains. They are room darkening and they slide easily with the curtain when opening and closing. Good width and length. Not exactly the same size but still works great. No odor at all that old reviews complained of. I can confirm as some others have that the odor issue has been resolved.
No Smell
January 14, 2015
My only issues with these liners are that the gray color shows through sheer curtains, so I reversed mine. I am not sure if the direct sunlight will damage the insulating side which now faces outside. The second issue is that the 77" length is really too short for 84" drapes, although that is what is recommended. Even if they did not show through, it still leaves several inches with no insulation at the bottom of your window. I will use them on another window behind furniture and reorder the 88" length and hem them for my patio door. I really hate that you cannot get them in 84." No odor--I understand this was corrected in 2014.
These work well as far as they cover
December 28, 2013
I got these because I like the curtains I have but I wanted them to be room darkening. They made a substantial improvement wherever I placed them however their effectiveness in the center makes the light coming in around the edges that much more prominent. Also, most of my curtain poles have been able to withstand the additional weight of these without bending but one set could not. I will not be able to use them on that window until I change out the mount. The pole was bending and the bracket was clearly under stress as well. I attached two of them to existing tab top curtains using the tie-on's and another three to existing rod pocket curtains using heavy duty drapery pins. The curtain pole with two panels and the drapery pins was the one showing the stress.

A thourough review for use with traverse rods
August 22, 2017
I had purchased Eclipse Blackout drapes, in a dark color lately, for my bedroom sliding glass door. Unfortunately, they weren't white on the window side and the heat they attracted with the dark color was making the room uncomfortable, not to mention the extra power for the A/C (I live in Florida). So I needed to buy white curtain liners, and I picked these. NOW, that I've established the use, read on for the review:* I purchased mine for a pinch pleat, traverse rod set up. Since these liners are made for different types of rods, there are a few types of hanging features to accommodate them, including circular "brass" hooks that aren't really removable (unless you're determined to do it!). Because I was using a traverse rod, the liners were hung from the same pin hooks that were used to hang the curtains by small, not very well made, loops at the top of the liner. As a result, the liners hang higher with a traverse rod and the bottom 4-5" of the drape are not covered. This isn't an issue with my blackout drapes as far as light getting through, although there could be uneven fading in the future at the bottom of the drapes. If you were hanging them from the previously mentioned circular hooks, that would lower the liners to the bottom of the drapes. In my situation, I just let the brass hooks dangle between the drapes and the liners.*They only come in single 45" wide panels, so my patio door took 2, and this leaves a large open area in the middle, even though I overlapped the liners at the top. I remedied this by putting wood, spring type, clothes line clips to hold the crack shut. You could sew them if you want to take the time, or pin them.*They are made of an 80% polyester/20% cotton front (white window side) and a 56% cotton/44% rayon grey back. They are machine wash only. NO DRY-CLEANING. The front side with the heavy (plastic) polyester content seems "sticky".*THEY ARE MADE IN CHINA, and are probably overpriced considering the cost to manufacture them in Communist China, in which the Chinese government is getting most of the money. (whenever you buy Chinese made products you are paying for their nuclear missiles and their illegal, man made islands).Although these liners would be more desirable if they covered the curtains to the bottom, I would consider buying them again, although I will look first to see if I could find something more adaptable to my situation, and maybe something not made in China.UPDATE: I purchased 1 liner for another sliding glass door, this time getting a different brand that is white on both sides and is sold by Rose Home Fashions, also through Amazon. It is MUCH better quality, according to the liner tag, it is Made in USA (although the packaging says China), and is 2" wider (47") so you can overlap the liners and avoid the opening in the middle. After seeing the better quality, I changed my rating on these from 4 stars to 3 since comparably they aren't as good and cost more money. I will be returning these and replacing them with the ones from Rose Home Fashions.
Wish I had paid more attention to what would be needed to make them look right with our curtains.
June 27, 2017
They would assist in light blocking, but if you don't sew them onto your curtain, it sags on the in-between spots where the light can be seen coming through.

August 20, 2016
Needs to be wider to fit a normal sized curtain. I paired it with yellow curtains to match our room while still being dark enough for me to sleep when I work midnight shifts. I can still sleep ok during the day but it looks funny because you can see the light coming through the yellow curtains on the sides. If you need pitch black to sleep you will need wider panels than this.
Blocks Light Well, But Smelly
June 9, 2015
These curtains do a good job of blocking out light (except for the edges, but what are you going to do?). However, they do have a noxious smell when it's sunny outside. We've had these quite a while, and the smell hasn't dissipated. If you live in a hot climate, or intend to keep your curtains closed during the day, I wouldn't recommend these. If you have air conditioning, and want them to block out early morning light, than they'd work well.
It smells
July 17, 2013
Well, first of all, I have to say it does the job, block out the lights.BUT, it's been more than a month since we hang them up, our bedroom still smells if we keep the door closed for a few hours. The smells of the panel just don't go away. ugh
does the job but smells

Definitely not a bargain
July 27, 2017
One panel for over $20. Definitely not a bargain
i liked them for about a month
April 20, 2017
i liked them for about a month, and then the loops broke off and won't slide open when letting light in.
I wanted to like these.
January 21, 2017
We have a huge picture window in our living room that gets a ton of afternoon sun. We have curtains that are beautiful with the sun streaming through them, but sometimes we just need to blot all that light out! So we purchased a few of these to hang behind our regular curtains. They do a good job blocking light. The view from outside is not the most attractive but we don't mind, The biggest issue I have with these is that the loops to hang these aren't sewn at the end of the panel - it is sewn a couple inches in. So that means the first (and last) couple inches of the panel fold and sag and look awful.I suppose I could sew on a ring or other loops myself to the end but really, should I have to?
They work, but ring-spacing is off and they are very heavy
March 31, 2016
First of all, the liner works well, blocking almost all the light that was getting through my patio-door curtain. If I rated it just on that, I would give it 5 stars. My biggest issues with this product are (1) that it was difficult to line up the rings with my grommet curtains, since it wasn't as simple as "every other slot", and ended up taking multiple tries to make it work since the spacing wasn't even for the grommet holes, so that it starts in the middle of two grommets for one ring and then by the time you get to the end you're directly over a grommet, and (2) these things are incredibly heavy -- so much so that I wasn't willing to put up two, which would be required to cover both sides of the patio door. Even with a center support, I was afraid it would pull the entire thing down. Currently I only have one side up and as soon as my muscles recover, I'm going to take it back down. Also, for some reason I thought I had read that the curtain does not come with rings, but it did and they are permanently attached to the little cloth hoops. I didn't need the shower curtain rings that I had bought.
Don't purchase - I tried, but they really do smell (very chemically smelling odor)
March 15, 2015
These worked fine the first month, then started smelling as some other reviews indicated. I washed them as some had said that stopped the smell, but it didn't for me. I don't like the chemical smell around my daughter as they are so sensitive. Wouldn't recommend.
Second thoughts about these liners - read my update
January 13, 2014
Great liners. They do an excellent job at blocking light, muffling some noise, and helping to retain heat. During this recent arctic blast, we experienced three days of -15 or colder, and these liners (with drapes) made it possible to stand next to the sliders in our bedroom without feeling the cold. I've already ordered more for regular windows in the house, and I'm going to order two pair of the longer ones for both sets of sliders so we can raise the rods higher and still have the drapes cover all of the glass.Edited January 27, 2014I originally gave these liners a 5-star rating. However, now that I have had them up for a couple of weeks I am editing my original review. After they had hung, covered by a drape for a few days, they started emitting that chemical foul odor that others have complained about. My eyes and throat actually burned from the chemical smell and I had to get up during the night and go and sleep in another room. They did not release that smell until we had a bright, sunny day and the heat from the sun hit the window -- I think the odor was trapped in between the liner and the drape. I had hung 2 more of the liners on the window in the bedroom, but those are not covered (yet) by a drape and as yet have not released an odor. At any rate, the liners are now in the wash, and I will hang them again as soon as they are dry. If I detect any odor after rehanging them, they are all going back to Amazon. I'll report back on my progress in a few days.

Horrible smell! My daughter's window gets the morning Florida sun and the curtains keep the light out but emit a overpowering odor that fills the entire upstairs. It gives me a headache and makes her unable to sleep!
Smell really bad

These really smell, i mean bad. I even washed them, and when i did that it made the entire apartment building, and i mean up to the fourth floor, smell. Smells like bad chemicals. I just returned mine. They were efficient at blocking out the light.

These were great at significantly reducing the amount of light in the room, but the smell was so nauseating that I had to return them. The room was about 15'x 15' and if I left the door shut, there would be an overpowering heavy chemical odor. They work as advertised, but the smell was unbearable.
Chemical odor
July 8, 2013
I really cannot believe that more people have not complained about the smell. I had them up in my two young daughters' rooms for almost 2 weeks, and it never improved. The smell began to permeate the entire house, and I was getting headaches nearly every day. I felt like they were poisoning our entire family! I had to get them out of our house.
they stink!!!
June 30, 2013
This product does what it is supposed to do but it has a terrible odor that doesn't go away. It is nauseating. It is impossible to sleep in a bedroom with this smell. We took them off, eventually, and the smell dissipated. Cheap product, you get what you pay for.
