Love this for making your own baby food

Love this for making your own baby food. Using for purees and now will chop and steam food for finger foods!
Love this little machine
April 12, 2017
Love this little machine! I'm a mom and work full time so there is not much extra time for anything, this was easy to use and my daughter got all home made baby food. She is now 2 and I still use this at least once a week to steam vegetables for her to eat. You pour the amount of water need, you throw the vegetables or fruits in and you turn the nob and it's done. The machine does everything for you, you come back when the light turns off and you either have steamed fruits/vegetables or you can throw it back in the machine and puree. Clean up is pretty easy too because there aren't too many complicated pieces. I did read a lot of reviews prior to purchase and I was concern with some issues people were having, but sometimes you might get an item that's just not put together correctly, but I think that could happen with any product. What I love about this product is that it's easy to use, it's not complicated and it makes it easy for a mom or dad or grandma to make home made food for their babies.

October 25, 2016
For many months I debated on getting an all in one baby food maker like the beaba or just an appliance that would blend/purée the previously cooked food. Let me say, I am SO glad I chose the beaba! I LOVE it! I just knew that I would be more likely to continue making my baby's food since this makes it so easy. It doesn't take up much counter space, is easy to clean, and is super simple to use. P.s. If you get the babycook check out the recipe blog on the beaba website. :)
You need and want it - do your family a favor and get it!

I dreamed of the Beaba Babycook since before I was pregnant with my first child. But it was so expensive! So I waited, and we did jarred organic, and I tried to make some things on my own in my blender.... Not very often. It was a mess, and so many steps, and the textures weren't well received by my bebe...As I started the ol' jarred organic babyfood with my second child I just didn't feel good about it. I splurged and got this. It was heavenly. Meals were fresh and baby loved them! It got the whole family eating healthier because well if you're dicing up squash for the Beaba cook - why not eat some yourself?!... Etc.The best things are the ease of use - steaming may not be that difficult but my culinary skills are lacking so I truly appreciated the help here. Also, easy cleanup.I am so thrilled that I got the Beaba Babycook. It's a lot of money, it is, but I truly feel it quickly pays for itself in how often you'll be using it. You could even sell it to a friend after use, it will still seem brand new!
Super easy to use and clean
June 12, 2013
This is the 1st baby food maker I have ever owned so I don't have anything to compare to, so please keep that in mind. I really like how very simple it is in every way. You place 1 of 3 recommended amounts of water in the resevoir and turn the dial to steam and walk away. It shuts its self off when its done so just in case you get side tracked, you don't come back to way over steamed food. Then you open carefully (due to steam) and remove basket then remove the excess water and dump steamed food back into the bowl (I keep a little of the water and add it back in to thin it out), put the lid on and turn dial the other way to process into yummy baby food.Pros:Very easy to useSimpleAll goes into the dishwasherMakes managable amounts of foodCons:You really need to buy a baby food cook book. The packet it comes with is VERY basic.A little $$ for a tiny cuisinartWhen to turn the dial to process the food you have to hold it there, when you let go it stops. I would like it to stay on.
Super Easy and Convenient Babyfood Maker
April 28, 2013
I had experience with this product previously and knew hands-down that this was what I wanted when it came time to purchase. It couldn't be easier to use and is so convenient - just prep and turn on. No waiting around tending to a boiling pot of water and cleanup is so easy.I've read some reviews that mention the size/capacity. I tend to make fresh babyfood to go right into the fridge so I am not interested in a large-capacity food maker. However, the times when I did need to stock baby food in the freezer it was so quick to make a few batches. Another reason I like this baby food maker is the size of the appliance. I wanted something I could throw in my suitcase so we can have fresh baby food when traveling.I recommend this product for parents with limited time who want to make homemade baby food. This appliance works great using frozen veggies if you're in a real time crunch!

Works for me!
July 2, 2014
I'm passionate about making my own baby food for my 7 month old, so I needed to find a baby food maker. I cook at home almost daily, and used to have a Beaba with my first son 5 years ago. After reading all the reviews on line, I ultimately choose this one since it worked out for me the first time around. Plus, I was worried about the quality of another brand's processor, and I know that this one works well. I listened to the reviews on line and have been using only distilled water. As soon as I'm done steaming and pureeing, I leave the cap off, and turn it around on a kitchen towel to remove excess water, and so far I have not had a problem with mold or discoloration. I just check every time. I can see how some reviewers might be annoyed that it doesn't turn off by itself, but that's not a huge issue for me. I also don't mind that it's small i.e you can only steam one pear at a time. If I want to do bulk cooking, I would just use my usual food processor. I like feeding my daughter fresh food, so cooking daily or every other day isn't hard for me. All in all, a great product. I like the colors a lot, and it steams wonderfully. Usually processes pretty good, but sometimes doesn't get the little pieces. I obviously liked it since I bought it again! I also recommend getting the Williams-Sonoma baby cookbook for great recipes as your baby grows older. The best cookbook!
Use it all the time
May 15, 2014
I decided to ignore all the people who told me this Babycook was too small because I couldn't make HUGE batches of food in it. I have about 9 bags of frozen baby food in the freezer that I have made over the course of the past three months. I probably add to those bags or rotate in a new food on a weekly basis. Unless your baby eats a ton of food, you really don't need a lifetime supply of food in the freezer and you will be glad you don't have to clean up pots, pans, and a big blender. I just love how easy this is to use. I can defrost chunks of frozen fruit and then blend them and I've even steamed carrots for my husband and I in this! It's a great product. My only complaint is that I wish the blade was a little more powerful.
Just one request...
April 23, 2013
We live in a one bedroom condo, so this is the perfect little food processor to make baby food because it doesn't take up a lot of space. I will say, I don't really use the "thaw" function, I mainly use the steaming and pureeing functions, which both work great. My one request is that I wish you could turn on the puree function and not have to stand there and hold it to keep it on. Other than that, it's a great appliance.I also bought the Baeba freezer trays and they're awesome. They were a little pricey, so I was hesitant at first, but they were completely worth the investment, and when I think about all the money I'm saving by making our own baby food, it makes me feel better.
Worth it.
September 13, 2012
We've been using this product for about a month now and are very pleased not only with its performance, but the resulting foods. We have a small apartment, and no dishwasher so even the thought of breaking out pots and pans for steaming, then the blender or food processor for blending seemed dreadful. Especially because if we wanted to make batches of a couple of different types of food, we'd have to clean all of those big things in between each type of food! The Babycook is nice because you steam and blend in one machine that has a very small counter footprint, and is very easy to clean. If you want to make multiple foods in one evening, you simply rinse the basket, blending bucket and spatula b/w each food. I should also note that my husband works full-time and I work out of the home 3-4 days a week and we still find this very convenient. It doesn't take long at all. Also, we definitely have not seen any of the "mold" other reviewers mention. We've descaled with vinegar once in 4 weeks. It isn't always possible, but I find it's best to get to the machine as soon as you can after it's finished steaming. Then you unscrew the water reservoir's top (CAUTION: this can be very hot. I use a dishtowel or pot holder) and let it dry out completely while it is still hot. VERY LITTLE moisture will remain in the reservoir. As for cost...locally our organic baby food costs about .85 a jar. We would need to be able to make roughly 142 jars of food for this machine to pay for itself. Each time I make food (every 2 or 3 days)I make about 8 jars. So in about 17.5 evenings, we will cover cost. As I mentioned earlier, we've had it for a month, so this great machine has almost already paid for itself. Suffice it to say that if you have limited space and time, but really want to know exactly what is in your baby's food (and be able to feed them what you're having as a family, just as a puree) this machine is worth it. Lastly, I have given this product 4 stars (instead of 5) because I have not found it super convenient for reheating - a feature that is advertised for it. If you want to defrost or reheat something, it cannot be in a plastic container (makes sense...) it must be in glass or some polycarbonate container. Well, everything I use for storing my son's food is plastic...and once it's frozen there's no getting it out of the plastic and into glass just to defrost it.
Love my Beaba Babybook so far!
May 21, 2012
I just received by Beaba Babycook over the weekend, & I couldn't wait to use it. My first attempt was steaming & blending up sweet potatoes, which came out perfect! My 6 month old daughter liked the sweet potatoes that I mixed up with a little butter, so we were all happy! I can't wait to make my next baby food in this machine.I highly recommend reading & following all the instructions before attempting using the babycook. I gave it 4 stars at this time because I found 2 things in the instructions that could have been a little bit clearer.1) A little confusion in reference to the same part of the machine as a "steam heating compartment" as well as a "reservoir."2) Placing the gasket on the blender cutter as it's a little tricky pushing down the gasket where it needs to be, while being careful not to slip and cut yourself on the blades.
Just got my Beaba!
April 12, 2011
I have read through the entire instructions for the Beaba. It is very basic and lends to common sense.I was under the impression that the Beaba did the steaming and blending in a complete cycle. You have to steam, then pour the chopped food into the blending bowl. So, two separate steps for the operator. FYII would like to mention an important note, it says to NEVER place anything other than water or distilled white vinegar in the water steamer. CLR is a chemical, please DO NOT put this in the water steamer to clean the machine. I think we are all using the Beaba to keep a very clean, "chemical-free" diet for our babies. Why would you use a chemical in the water steamer? To properly maintain the Beaba I would recommend leaving the lid off of the water steamer AFTER you have completed your cooking. This should ensure that no mildew or mold grows in the water steamer by completely drying out or at least by not promoting a ideal environment for growth. Also, the baby cook book that come with it only has 12 recipes, 3 for each stage of food for the baby. Not all that great. FYII will update after frequent use (=

Meh. Not as good as I hoped but not terrible.
March 4, 2016
I just got this and was super excited to use it based on great reviews. Its really easy to use and clean. But BE CAREFUL my first time using it i didnt know the top would be that hot and as it was steaming i couldnt really tell if it was on or not so i put my hand on the top to check and burned the crap out of my hand. it was incredibly hot from the steam. Now that I know that, i made my first batch of food last night. I made apples. it was super easy to steam. but then i tried to puree and i did it for a few minutes, and there was still chunks in it.the bad thing about this is that when you want to check the food or stir off the sides, you have to unlock the base, then unscrew the top, do your thing, then screw the top back on, put back on the base and lock it. seems like a lot of effort when you have to do that multiple times. But im going to give it a few more shots maybe ill get better at using it too.
Nice and cute machine for convenience of having steaming/heating
October 17, 2015
Nice and cute machine for convenience of having steaming/heating, blending, and defrosting all in one machine. Minus 2 stars for the following: did not blend to smooth puree consistency well, especially for baked things like sweet potato or butternut squash; temperature for heating always seemed off and made food too hot; you can't just flip the switch to blend and leave it, you have to hold the switch on blend to keep blending.
Very easy to use but there is no sound indicator. Unsightly stains :(
September 30, 2013
This makes life really easy when you have a baby who wants your company all the time and you still want to make healthy baby food. I am able to make batches and batches of puree and store in the freezer. I also use this to steam cold puree. I took 1 star away because there is no sound indicator when the steaming is complete. I keep walking back and forth to the kitchen to check on the light indicator to know if it is done. Could have been better with a sound indicator. The capacity of the steam basket isn't that big either - I was only able to fit 1/2 a squash in it. So I sometimes choose to bake them in oven and then puree them using the Beaba.**Updates after 3 months of use: It is fairly useful still. BUT over just 3 months, there are unsightly stains all over the steam basket and the cover. If you cook food like pumpkin, squash, beetroot, carrot... be prepared for these ugly stains. I tried cleaning but they just won't come off. So I took another star away. I still find it annoying to walk back and forth to check if it's done already (no sound indicator).
Its Okay, but a part broke after 2 months
September 13, 2013
I took meticulous care of my babycook- cleaning it carefully, filling the water up to the exact level, storing it appropriately, etc. It stopped steaming after 2 months, which was a disappointment. This product is handy while it worked, but for this price, I would expect it to last a lot longer.
no customer support from beaba
May 29, 2013
We bought this beaba babe food cooker from amazon and start to use it when my baby was 4 month old. It's been great until the motor stopped the day my baby turned 8 month old. We checked and amazon seller store right start only cover 30 days, so we contacted beaba directly since the warranty covers 1 year. After 3 emails, they replied and said starting 5/1/2013 beaba has been transferred to peek-a-boo. So we then contacted peek-a-boo. Now one week passed and still no response. It's been nearly 3 weeks after the beaba baby maker dead and we're now thinking to buy a different brand baby food maker. It's a good baby food maker, but once any problem happen you're on your own.update: We received paid return label from beaba on 7/10/2013 to send back the broken baby food maker, then we received a new replacement beaba baby food maker around 2-3 weeks later. If anyone need to contact beaba here is the email address: contact@peekaboo-usa.com , thanks.
So very close, but not quite there
April 15, 2011
Overall, this is an ingenious device, allowing you to cook then puree your baby's food all with a single, reasonably compact device. As far as it goes, it works well, but there are a couple of issues, as follows:1. There is no audible indicator when a cooking cycle is done. There is a light that goes out, but that's it, so if you're not in there watching it or checking it you'll never know when it's done.2. Building on #1, if you leave the machine with the switch in the cooking position and fail to turn it off, after some time (30 minutes, an hour, we're not sure), it will spontaneously start the cooking cycle all over again. We've forgotten about it overnight and woken up to a warm device filled with greatly overcooked food.3. There is no timer to allow you to judge when the cooking cycle might finish, so it's all guesswork until you start to get an instinct for it. This compounds issues #1 and #2.4. There is no way to store all the pieces together when not in use. There is a cooking basket that fits inside the cooking cup, and when it's in there then you can't also put the blending lid in the stack, because it's one or the other. Also, there is no place to store the spoon/stick that is used to retrieve the hot basket out of the cooking cup. So, when it's all clean you have at least two random pieces floating around that have to be tracked and stored separately. A couple of little clips or indentations or something to hold these pieces would make it a lot more convenient. We really wish that they would update the device to address the above issues. We use it on an almost daily basis, and it does a great job at cooking and pureeing the food (as long as you watch it like a hawk and have nearby storage for the loose pieces), but it could use some polish to make it a really efficient device.

Still not sure about this - have used it a few times, not as convenient as I thought and seems cheaply made. Locking the lid in place (both to the pitcher and then the pitcher to the machine) is awkward. Had higher expectations.
Dead on arrival.

Got this as a gift. Went to use it the fist time today, and the blade assembly doesn't turn. I take the blade out, put the canister in, and turn it on, and the plastic unit that fits into the blade, doesn't turn, but the motor runs. Defective.Maybe I can get an exchange?
Plastic taste
July 12, 2015
I really wanted to love this. I had an older model that was given to me that was not BPA Free and I tried it. It was quick and easy so I decided to get the newer one. I followed the directions and cleaned it with water. The water smelled like plastic. I proceeded to run water in it about 10 times but it still smelled and tasted like plastic. I am not feeding that to my baby. Yuck!!!
Go with the Babycook Pro!
October 1, 2014
Mine leaked water. The gasket was broken. I followed the directions closely, but still couldn't adjust the parts. I purchased the Babycook Pro. Much better! One of my friends who owns the original beaba has one that works, but complains that making batches of food is difficult because the container is so tiny. So go with the Pro!
Principally good - but not durable
September 11, 2013
I generally wanted and liked preparing food for my baby, because I could control the ingredients (no preservatives, organic only...) and variation of tastes (natural to ease transition to proper food). It went really well and having some sort of a handy baby cook machine that defrosts, steams and purees at the same time made it a lot easier and fun during a period of time when you have no time at all.So in that respect, the Beaba Babycook was principally great since it did that job of defrosting, steaming and pureeing. However, what I did not like about this particular baby cook machine was the crapy quality: First, the lid started to not sit snug enough anymore, letting some steam escape. Soon later, the plastic mixing bowl started to break apart at the top (which is not only an issue for the functionality as the steam cannot be properly contained anymore, but also a real safety issue because the tiny plastic parts fall into the bowl and thus food). Moreover, you always wonder about mold development because the water container cannot be properly inspected (I let it air after each use and cleaned it once a week with vinegar water but who knows...). Also a downside is that all extra parts (that nobody really needs, including the cookbook) are totally overpriced. All in all, after some months, the Beaba Babycook cannot be used anymore at all. Too bad, I will need a new one for baby No 2, but will definitely not go for the Beaba anymore.
flimsy construction
March 29, 2012
I liked this product at first, but after the 5th or so use, the cheap quality really shone through. When I first used it, the lid was very tight, but that quickly changed. Now it fits extremely loose and there's a gap between the bowl and lid so that when used, it sprays food everywhere. I tried pressing the lid down, but that only partially stops it. I've only hand-washed it, so not sure why it warped so quickly. Seems like the plastic is really thin and cheap. Overall, seemed like a great idea, but if I had it to do again, wouldn't spend more than $40 for the thing.

This product's steamed water taste like chemicals. Beware!
June 13, 2015
I was really looking forward to using the babycook since it is an all in one appliance. I read many reviews before purchasing and should have listened to another mom's amazon review about the chemical tasting steamed water. So I ran water through the babycook multiple times (5 times) just like the product manual said to and the steamed water left in the food processer smelled like chemicals and tasted extremely bitter! I could not use this product not knowing what chemicals would go into my baby's food. I ended up buying an inexpensive stainless steel steamer and using my own food processer I had at home and it worked fine.So I would suggest using an appliance that you know is safe and won't pass chemicals into your little one's food.
Broke in less than a month
February 24, 2014
I loved this baby food maker for the first few times I was able to use it, but then it just stopped working. I would turn the knob to the "steam" function and nothing would happen. I made sure that the bowl and the lid were properly locked and that the unit was plugged in. I ended up returning it and got a full refund from Amazon.
