Five Star Reviews: | 29% She says it works great no issues March 15, 2017 Bought this for my daughter .. She says it works great no issues .. A Must for baby Food making! July 30, 2016 This is a great alternative to the Baby Bullet. I really didn't want to spend $50-60 so this was my next choice and I am Glad i got this instead! I can use Tupperware to hold it. Great Price for and awesome product!! Can't beat for the price February 22, 2016 I used to mix food for puppies, it is loud but for the price..... Awesome food maker November 3, 2015 This food maker is awesome. I've used other brands in past, but this one is best I've ever used. Thanks Munchkin. | 65% Makes it really easy to make your own baby food December 3, 2016 Mine is two years old and going strong. I used it with my first baby now two years later with my second. It allows you to make bigger batches the most baby food makers. The fact that it steams it and then you purée it in the same machine is also very helpful, cuts down on cleanup. Makes it really easy to make your own baby food. Great for Making Baby Food November 14, 2016 This was one of the best things I got to help make baby food. Keep the manual handy as it is a must read since it gives the water requirements for several kinds of foods. The only complaint is that the blade piece doesn't automatically snap down in place when the lid is closed so I just have to make sure it is secure every time I close the lid. I though the unit was broken until I figured this out. Has to be the best thing my mother n law ever got me September 20, 2016 Has to be the best thing my mother n law ever got me! This ting is AMAZING and makes my life so much easier making my sons baby food. Steam and blend its that easy. Even comes with several recipes. LOVE THIS!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Great for steaming baby food and regular veggies for adults! Purees food consistently. December 6, 2015 This is a wonderful tool for steaming both the babies food and our veggies for dinner. We have gotten a lot of use out of this. The booklet it comes with is a great reference for knowing how long to cook different items and the amount of water to use. Simple to use, basically dummy proof. Have not had any issues with it. Purees the babies food very well. It's great. No complaints. April 2, 2014 I bought this baby food maker about a month ago, after reading quite a few reviews. It's great. It functions exactly as described, and it's easy to clean. After reading the other reviews, I worry about mold. I wash all of the removable parts after each use, and I turn the machine upside down to get rid of excess water. I also leave the top door open when the machine isn't in use.So far, so good. Love It!! May 25, 2013 I would 100% recommend this baby food maker! It was the easiest way to make baby food. No steam basket. It cooks then purées in the same container. It is SO EASY to use, best for your baby, less money than baby food and you don't have to pray someone didn't take out nutritious vitamins from your store bought baby food. Also, it seems a lot of the baby food is mostly bananas and a tiny bit of veggies or a lot of one food, but little of all the other nutritious foods - mainly veggies. I started my baby at 6 months with just green organic veggies. She's almost 8 months and we're finally moving towards beets and cauliflower. She ate one by one with just funny faces at first, but then got used to them all. She was interested in eating at that point, she figured she had no choice, I suppose. Who knows. every baby is different, obviously, but making baby food with this made it so simple.I also used it to grind up organic oatmeal that I then boiled like you would normally (wisk it fast so it doesn't clump!). No baby oatmeal box needed or rice cereal. The real stuff has the iron baby needs, not just fortified with iron. I didn't give rice because she ate the oatmeal from the get go alright. I figured rice has less health benefits/nutrition than oatmeal or barley so why even give it. I think they start babies on it because it's bland in taste so it may not get rejected for picky eaters.Anyway, I almost bought the Beaba, but I then found this one and this yields a weeks worth of food (depending on age of child), was easier and has the bottle warmer.I haven't used it for bottle warming since I already had the Dr Brown's one from the get go. It would have been perfect to have this on my baby registry so I could have had to only get on product. Also bought 2 sets of the "Baby Fresh" trays for freezing the baby food. I ziploc them once frozen and thaw enough for each feeding in separate covered munchkin plastic dishes. |
Four Star Reviews: | 13% Gave for gift from a Mom to Be's registry June 26, 2014 Not sure how it works, and not sure I'll ever know. But the concept is great and the price was totally reasonable. She was delighted to get it. | 12% Great baby food maker July 12, 2016 Wonderful for making baby food - very simple and convenient. Use it to make all of my baby's food. Okay for heating Dr. Brown's bottles. Hard to clean. Also bought the accompanying baby food containers. Lids don't fit properly. Worth the price! January 7, 2016 You really can't go wrong with Cuisinart! I love the idea of a mixer that steams and purees baby foods. The lid/blade can be somewhat of a pain to align (you have to do it just right or it won't steam). It's well worth the price compared to other baby food makers. Mine has lasted through two babies in the last 2.5 years. Useful for a busy mom November 17, 2015 I've used the heck out of this machine and for the most part I really like it. After months of using several times per week, it does seem like the motor is starting to struggle. The plastic parts are also showing ware. I've never used the bottle warming feature and you could definitely get the same, if not better, result from just steaming your own foods and throwing them into a food processor. I know my regular food processor has a far better motor than this. BUT - for a convenient all-in-one baby food maker, this is extremely easy to use and does a great job without the extra step. so I love this cuisinart simply because it steams and chops and ... October 1, 2015 Ok, so I love this cuisinart simply because it steams and chops and makes my job so much easier! The only complaint I have is that metal stick that goes in the bowl, for some reason shaves the metal off the inside of the blade when being used. Also, the inside of the bowl (the grey part) gets stained. Like mine is orange from the carrots. But overall I think it's a great product and I'm really happy I bought it! Oh yea, it's a bottle warmer too! I had no idea when I bought it! Lol I don't use it now but maybe for my second baby. Good Product June 10, 2014 I bought this product a few months ago and it still works like a charm! The only complaint I have is how long it takes between steamings. I like to do a mass food-making session once a week but end up having to wait 20+ minutes for the steamer to cool down after each use; which is not a huge deal, but when I'm in the zone, I just want to prepare all the food, steam it, puree it and be done- not draw the process out for a couple of hours just waiting for it to cool down between foods. Other than that, it works great and I have had no issues! Overall I definitely recommend it. Great Purchase! November 5, 2013 Bought this as a gift for my son and daughter-in-law. Purchased it, along with the book, '201 Organic Baby Purees' by Tamika Gardner, and OXO Tot Baby Food Freezer Trays.I'm very happy with each item. The baby isn't born yet, but my daughter-in-law has already been practicing with the baby food maker and recipes. She is really happy to have it and looking forward to using it on a regular basis.I rated this 4 stars only because the bottle warmer hasn't yet been tested. It got mixed reviews, but even if it isn't ideal, I won't feel like my money was wasted... the baby food maker is excellent. |
Three Star Reviews: | 10% Not as great as it seems. April 6, 2015 I really thought I would use this more, but it just wasn't practical for me. The jar was too small, and it was super noisy. I had a hard time locking everything in place sometimes, and if it wasn't locked in, it wouldn't start, which is a good feature, I suppose, but kind of annoying. I also found that this little masher had a really hard time finely blending all of the food, and that consistency wasn't what I needed. When my daughter was just starting solids, the bumpy, grainy texture that I got from making food with this wasn't something she liked. I ended up just selling it at a garage sale. If you want to make your own baby food, I'd recommend just sticking to a blender or food processor. So-so November 4, 2014 If you've used a regular food processor before, you won't have a hard time assembling this but even with regular use, it's still annoying to find the sweet spot of the lid to make it lock.It can purée most veggies but will only mince carrots even if you try to purée it with potatoes. Can be used as a regular food processor once baby moves on to chunkier textures tho it won't be able to hold a lot of food. Three Stars July 18, 2014 For my daughter and she didn't particularly like it. She bought another food maker for her baby. | 5% Two big flaws August 6, 2017 I like most most things about this product. There are two major issues:(1) After the food is steamed the blade needs to be re-positioned for the blender to work. This is extremely annoying because it means removing the (hot) food, taking the pieces apart and cleaning the machine. I think it's the result of condensation that gets between the blade and the motor. After wiping the post that comes through the motor it generally works. This sometimes doubles the active time it takes to make the food so it's a huge flaw for a busy mom.(2) The post/motor of the blade gets a yucky black residue from each use. easier to use a food processor after steaming the food June 23, 2017 Have to play with it a bit sometimes to make it go one. Three Stars November 11, 2015 Broke after 6 mos of use. Just quit working. Expected more from Cuisinart. Not really necessary February 24, 2014 We don't use the bottle warmer, and I've found through my experience that my daughter prefers her food baked, steamed, or cooked on the stove as opposed to using the steaming option on the Cuisinart. (Even when following the recommendations provided in the manual, most of the purees turn out watery.) So basically, we just use the chopper and any food processor could work for that. I still use it at least once a week, but I will probably go buy a larger processor as I start to make larger batches of food. Perfect untill steam function quit January 29, 2014 Never used the bottle warmer function but the steaming and cutting worked perfectly at first. But after 7 months an edge of the cover broke with the little piece that engages the blender function, I put it back manually and it still worked. But now the steaming function quit. Gonna try to return it. plastic burning smell August 22, 2013 Everything is ok. It's very convenient. But I have one concern. Whenever I steam this, there is burning smell.I don't think it's good for health. There was no smell when I bought, but after passed returning window, I could smell it. |
Two Star Reviews: | 16% Fragile April 7, 2017 This works ok but it feels very fragile and you can only blend a little bit at a time but it 8s horribly noisy and smells like the motor is burning just ... January 12, 2017 Blends to a stage 2 food consistency, but it 8s horribly noisy and smells like the motor is burning just when you get the food to a decent texture. The noise is so terrible it scared my LO. I followed all of the instructions and locked it into position correctly. I'm going to stick with food mills. Disappointed June 2, 2016 I was very disappointed with this blender. Id ordered it as i intended to make home purees for my LO. But from the very 1st day it started giving me trouble. As i would use it the blender would start to smell funny as if something is burning. It never pureed my food also properly despite steaming everything first. I was to busy work my infant so never had the time to refund it?. Cheap product, won't last February 29, 2016 Impossible to clean! I've used it for maybe a couple weeks. The inside of the plastic part that holds the blade collects food and it is impossible to get out. If you can find a small enough bristle brush then maybe, but even a toothbrush won't fit in there. I don't want to use it to purée anymore when there's old food in there!!!!! Also the lid leaks as it purées. Not worth it! | 7% Water leaks while steaming, plastic part snapped in half... January 10, 2017 I was no able to get used to this gadget... I'm not sure why is it so difficult or what am I doing wrong... The water keeps leaking while I'm trying to steam vegetables, the cycle is not long enough for the veggies to be properly steamed... The plastic ring on the circular knife broke ( snapped), while I was blending fresh cranberries to make juice.... Just a bad experience overall... Great in theory October 9, 2015 I bought this to make food for my first daughter. I questioned the steamer chamber but the first couple months it worked great! Made the process extremely easy! However toward the last few months of using it for my first daughter, I felt like chunks of who knows what was coming out into the purée. I was diligent about cleaning out the chamber with vinegar however I pulled it out to use with my second child, and ran this 3 times with black coming out and then steamed sweet potatoes and saw black through out the purée. I question how clean you can actually get the steam chamber without being able to look inside. I really wanted to like this baby food maker April 19, 2015 I really wanted to like this baby food maker. It was smartly designed and it was Cuisinart. However, mine never worked properly. I returned two unit before giving up. needs two tries to steam veggies now :( March 28, 2015 when I first received this product I was over the moon. honestly it's a fantastic product… when it works… I bought this mid 2013 for my then 6 month old son and it worked wonderfully for about 1 year. I had another baby in September 2014 and it's been touch and go for the past couple months. it now make a LOT of noise when it steams, like bubbling water type noises and steaming sounds. but about every 5th time using it, it builds up, and gets louder and louder and then finally makes this LOUD *POP* sound and every time it scares me so I jump and I'm nervous that one of these times it's going to explode. In addition, it usually doesn't steam the veggies on the first try. (it used to) I don't know if it's getting too hot and it cuts itself of early for safety reasons? but whatever the case may be, I can no longer use this in a pinch as I usually have to steam veggies twice to get them soft. I understand it's a baby food maker / bottle warmer, so maybe the manufacturer didn't bank on people needing it to work for this long. but. this is Cuisinart! I paid $120 for this. I want it to work for more than 2 years. I would say I have been using this every other day for the past 18 months and I'm disappointed. my second son has started on solids and I'm having to look for a new steamer. Motor wears quickly January 26, 2015 I have really loved this baby food maker for the 6 months that I have had it. However I am very disappointed that after only 6 months of use, the motor is worn out. LOVED this for the longest time... now after close inspection, will NEVER use this again! December 26, 2013 I am now convinced that all baby food makers (steaming and pureeing with one appliance) are a waste of money and may do more harm to your child then good. I researched baby food makers for months and read through at ton of Amazon reviews before deciding to purchase this baby food maker from Cuisinart. I loved using the first two times and felt like it would be very simple to use long haul. However, by the third use, the work bowl, blade, and spatula started to show stains from the food. I had followed all directions and transferred the purees to a glass container to clean the appliance quickly every time, but it still happened. As I tried cleaning the work bowl, I found upon deeper inspection what looked like hard water deposits/burnt in areas where the food was sitting on the sides of the bowl during steaming. I couldn't get them off and contacted Cuisinart to see what could have caused the marks. Thankfully they just sent me a new bowl free of charge, even though I still had no idea what first caused the stains. I continued to use the product for months and never let the purees sit again in the work bowl in case it was the heat...Side note here: Why can't we just manufacture a glass bowl people? That would be the day!!Anywho, a month ago I started to become paranoid as I heard more and more about mold growth in other baby food makers. I thought to myself, if they are growing mold, why wouldn't mine be too? I can't even open up the steaming chamber to check, but I took a flashlight and peeked into the slots at the bottom of the chamber... and, let me tell you, what I found... was disgusting...To make a long story short, I encourage you all to do the same. Putting in a vinegar/water solution to "descale" isn't enough to clean what I saw and I no longer use this product. I have started steaming and baking all of my son's meals and pulsing them in our blender and to be honest, it's more convenient now then before! I wish I would have just invested in a food processor by Cuisinart and am hoping I can do something to get one instead, but since I purchased this is May and didn't start using it until September, I think I'm out of luck. I am only giving this 2 stars because Cuisinart as an overall brand is great and their customer service helped me out before so I'm hoping they can help me out again. Please be safe people and check your units!! |
One Star Reviews: | 32% Save your money March 2, 2017 With this item you definitely get what you paid for... you could spend ten more dollars and get something way better .. This item does not puree at all.. it minces which leaves baby food chunky.. it is also very loud I thought I could make baby food while my daughter naps but this little machine is so loud.. I did like that the machine was small and didn't take up much counter space but it has no power.. after using for a while it started to smell like it was overheating... nevertheless this item is not for me and would not recommend to anybody... Waste June 20, 2016 I left it packaged until a couple weeks ago. Used it twice and now it doesn't spin. Not worth the money! I was so disappointed about this product April 4, 2016 I was so disappointed about this product. I only use less than 10 times and it broke on me easily. The motor couldn't hold too long, you can smell something burn inside. can't work January 18, 2016 the machine is bad when i received it. the button can't press and the maker didn't work at all!!! DId not work! October 16, 2015 The item did not work even after we checked and locked it multiple times. We had to return the item. | 11% One Star January 24, 2016 Doesn't heat bottle warm enough, has burning smell after a little over a month of use Not worth the price at all! October 26, 2015 I purchased this item because I knew I'll be using bottle warmer and food maker, so why not buy one machine? Well, not a good idea.Bottle warmer:-broke after a month of using it, 1-2 bottles a day only-if you follow the instructions, it makes the milk either too hot or too cold. If it's too cold you cannot warm it up again right away, you have to wait 5min-IT LEAKS the milk out of the bottle! I was loosing the important breast milk. For example: you put 6oz bottle inside and turn it on. After couple minutes it automatically shut off. You think yay it's done. Well, it turns on again by itself. When you pull the bottle out of it, you already lost it like 2-3 oz. The milk is all over the bottle and steamer chamber. It does the same with formula.Food maker:-it leaks water all over. This product works great for 2 weeks and then stops grinding the food ... March 12, 2015 This product works great for 2 weeks and then stops grinding the food after it steams and water starts leaking all over the counter. The water level is very temperamental and has to be watched closely. 0 stars! January 20, 2015 0 stars. Don't buy this item! I Have tried two of these and had to return them both for same problem, bowl and blade get jammed and are impossible to take apart. Both times it was after 3rd use, brand new. Even when I called cuisinart, they had problems when testing the product. Worthless- Doesn't Steam January 3, 2015 This item was too good to be true. I have NO idea why this got so many good reviews. It doesn't steam well. It turns off after 1-2 minutes (even though it is supposed to steam for 20 minutes plus) and then won't turn back on again until it cools down. It's totally worthless. Promptly returning this item. I have no idea why it has such good ratings January 26, 2014 I was really excited about having a steamer, chopper, and bottle warmer in one. BUT the steamer does not work well: water leaks out of the back sometimes and there doesn't appear to be any consistency in how much water is needed. If you use too little water and the food is still hard, you have to wait for the unit to cool off or rinse it under cold water, which is annoying. I find it much easier to just steam things in a pot and then use my food processor to puree the food.Don't get me started on the bottle warmer. It uses TINY amounts of water, so if you're off by a little bit, you'll end up with a bottle that's still cold or waaaaay too hot. As with the steamer, if the bottle is too cold, you have to wait for the unit to cool off before re-heating the bottle. And then it'll probably be too hot. I for a long time to figure out the right amounts (we use the same bottles all the time, so it should have been fairly easy), concluded it was impossible, and went back to a Kozii bottle warmer (which we already had and I highly recommend).Basically, the only part of this thing that works well is the chopper. And I'm sure there are much cheaper quality choppers out there. |
