Fantastic latest generation console, great fun for the whole family
April 25, 2016
Of all the presents I bought my two boys (7 and 5) this has by far given me the most bang per buck. This is a world class console that says quality and performance no matter where you look. The graphics are stunning on an HD TV set. The games available go from the graphic tour de force (e.g. Forza, Yarn, Lego Jurassic Park) to the silly instant gratification (e.g. Plants vs Zombies, Kung Fu Panda, Tetris.) If the last year is any indication this will monopolize a good part of my home's TV time for the next 2-3 years. If you have kids and believe that consoles are a valid toy category for them you certainly won't go wrong with this one (and you may be surprised at the fun you have yourself.)
The only part that I think needs more work is the Kinect which I bought along with my console. The potential of the device is HUGE. I love it when it recognizes me and calls me by name. However it should offer me to sign on as one of the players in at that point (and I should be able to simply reply "yes" or "no" verbally). The Kinect game support is spotty too. I've had some success using Kinect in the Dance game that comes with it, but in general not a lot of games support it. (I was hoping it would be a workable replacement for a wii type controller in tennis games and the like, but that hasn't been my experience.) The voice recognition in Kinect also has incredible potential but there are few occasions to use it (Zoo Tycoon is probably the best implementation of this I've seen, though it isn't ever-present enough even in that game.) For example I'd like to be able to play Plants vs Zombies using a regular controller plus Kinect and yell orders as I go (change my weapon, etc.) The key for voice recognition to be accessible/discoverable is the game needs to prompt me in green for things to say (as in Zoo Tycoon). Another problem with voice recognition is if you happen to live outside the US, support for it is spotty. Consoles in Mexico have it but those in Argentina don't (Argentines can easily communicate in Mexican style Spanish, they hear it on dubbed TV programs all day long.) The good news is you can have xbox register your console in the Mexico locale even if you are in Argentina.
BOTTOM LINE: This is an amazing console with a lot of room for further growth, you won't go wrong buying it.
Works Great
February 17, 2016
Quick delivery and works great so far. This was a replacement for another "new" Xbox One that I ordered through Amazon. This one has a smaller hard drive, but it loaded all of my games 10 times as fast as the other so called new Xbox and all of my games work perfectly on this one so far. I would recommend buying from this company through Amazon
How cool.
January 28, 2016
As a mother I do not know much about Video games, it's not really my thing. However, this thing is so cool to watch my kids play. We got battery packs for the remotes, a remote control for tv and an infinity set up. It also has Netflix and Amazon, which allowed me to eliminate the roku box as we don't have cable. YouTube channel is loaded, which is great because my husband and I can surf random stuff on YouTube on the big screen instead of me trying to show him on my iPad. The battery packs are amazing on the remotes, as compared to our Wii remotes that just eat batteries like they own stock in the battery company. It looks nice and sleek in my tv unit compared to some of the older stand outish video game units. The remotes seem to be more responsive than our Wii ones were, which results in less yelling and throwing of remotes. The cords provided were plenty long enough to reach the plugs. There is an option to keep it off line when not using internet which is also nice. I also really recommend infinity if you have younger kids. I won't review that here, but I will say I feel it is not a brain drain. I was nervous to spend the cash on this, but over all I feel it's worth it. My kids ages 1-13 all love it.
Awesome!
January 7, 2016
This is my first video game console since Nintendo Wii. I know, behind the times. My daughter has become obsessed with Minecraft, and I had always been interested in trying Assassin's Creed, and I thought the Kinect would be fun for the younger kids.

So right! It's taking me some adjusting, but we all love this system. It's a little irritating that it automatically picks a gamertag for you in the start, but easy enough to figure out how to change. Expensive system, but worth it for everything that it does. Love it.
Perfect Gift
January 3, 2016
The look on my kids face when he opened this on Christmas was priceless.

Everything we needed was included and it all works great. No problems with it at all.

We decided last minute to grab this for Christmas. I couldn't be happier. Love the dance game that was included. It's a good workout while having fun.
Buying guide for Xbox One bundles
November 17, 2015
I wanted to create a guide to help those interested in purchasing an Xbox One, since there are so many bundles, and offers change constantly. I'll attempt to keep this up to date as the bundles change. This is NOT a comparison to Playstation 4 or Wii U.A short list of features that may interest you, shared by all Xbox Ones (more details can be found in product descriptions and Microsoft sites) -HDMI pass through. You can hook up an HDMI device to the back of an Xbox One to view the content from that device without changing inputs or leaving the X1 interface. This allows for split screen viewing and if a cable box or the official TV tuner, you can view the channel guide, watch TV, and set recordings. It is backwards compatible with some Xbox 360 games. This is great for those with backlogs (like me...) or those who want to revisit finished games without having another console plugged into the wall/TV. In the fall, owners of publisher approved disc or digital 360 games will be able to play them emulated on the X1. Some X1 games also include their 360 precursors with purchase for play on the X1 in case you missed them. Rainbow Six Siege includes both R6 Vegas Xbox 360 games, for example. List of games and other info here -[...]It will stream content to Windows 10 devices.Xbox Live Gold now applies to households instead of individuals; meaning that multiple accounts on the same console can have access to the same features but have differing account restrictions (I.E. parental controls). So you can let your kids play Garden Warfare online, but not Gears of War.External USB 3.0 storage. This is great because, 1) you don't need to open the console and replace a hard disc to add storage, just plug in and the X1 will format the drive, 2) even disc-based games have compulsory installs and can be upwards of 50GB each, eating storage space quickly, 3) external drives can be spacious and cheap, and last but not least, 4) USB 3.0 is actually faster than the internal hard disc interface. This means that a game on an external drive will load faster than one on the internal drive, usually by a significant amount. The bundles-The current bundles include a newer controller that has a standard 3.5mm audio jack built in and output both game and chat audio through it. Legacy consoles shouldn’t be expected to be widely available at the suggested price (and some I haven’t included, due to their rarity at this point). You may have better luck at other outlets finding the legacy consoles (Microsoft Store, Dell, various brick-and-mortar stores). There are no functional differences. All bundles include a controller, HDMI cable, chat headset (with exceptions), and a 14 day Xbox Live Gold trial membership (paid $60/year service to play online and download the Games with Gold, a monthly rotation of full games you're free to download and keep (forever for 360 games and as long as you have Live Gold in active subscription for X1 games).Current bundles (with rating based on what you get for the money. Star and letter ratings are intended for the suggested price listed next to the bundle, not whatever current prices are.) -Spring Note - It's hard to recommend anything other than the Kinect bundle (if you want the camera peripheral), the Eilte (for the controller and faster HDD, if that's most important to you) or the Spring bundle (sold at Gamestop or Microsoft Store) which includes a 1TB console, Halo 5, Ori and the Blind Forest, Rare Replay, and Gears of War Ultimate downloads. Until the end of the month, the retail price of all bundles is $50 off. If you want to know more about all the rest, see the descriptions below.Rainbow Six Siege 1TB bundle. $399. Includes console, new controller, disc version of the title game and downloads of the Rainbow Six Vegas Xbox 360 games, with a chat headset. A new class-based multiplayer shooter with the excellent tactical precursor campaigns. A good bundle. A- rating. The Division Bundle 1TB bundle. $399. Includes console, new controller, download of the title game. No headset, no legacy games. B- rating.Quantum Break 500GB White bundle. $349. Includes console, new controller, and downloads of Quantum Break and both Alan Wake 360 games. No headset. B+ rating.Name your Game 500GB bundle. $349. Includes the console, new controller, a download of one of Forza 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War Ultimate, or Rare Replay, and no chat headset. The choice of games is nice and the selections are high-quality, but 500GB will fill very quickly at this point, and without a headset or bonus games, this is one of the lesser value bundles. B- rating.Xbox One Elite 1TB bundle. $499. Includes a console with a 1TB hybrid SSD and hard disc for quicker load times for the items you access the most and the Elite controller, which has replaceable/customizable sticks, buttons, and triggers for the professionals or tinkerers, and DOES include a chat headset with a matching black and silver color scheme. While the internal storage on this will be better than the standard HDDs in other X1s, the performance increase PROBABLY won't match external USB3.0 drives, due to the continued use of the SATA interface. There's little information about the size of the SSD partition and many hybrid drives don't allow you to choose what content is on which partition. The elite controller has been released to wide acclaim (modifiable professional controllers can easily go for twice as much), but is scarce on its own at present. If you want the best/most storage and best controller out of the box, this is the bundle for you, but you won't get any games with it. B+ rating. Please note that the bundle with two controllers does not include a second Elite controller, but a regular wireless one.Kinect 500GB Bundle - $399. Includes 500GB console, the Kinect camera, a chat headset, controller, and three Kinect-focused game downloads: Dance Central Spotlight, Kinect Sports Rivals and Zoo Tycoon. Finally another Kinect bundle! The X1 UI is made better and more easily navigable with the Kinect, and there are fun, energetic games to be played with it. A rating. Great for those who want to move and enjoy motion and voice controls, but it has little storage. Bundle with FIFA on separate page is even better for the same price.Holiday 1TB Bundle - $399. Includes 1TB console, Gears of War Ultimate Edition disc, Rare Replay disc, and Ori and the Blind Forest game download, the new controller, and doesn't appear to include a headset. A rating. Something(s) for everyone in this bundle, with 36 games included. Now replaced by the even better Spring bundle (see above).Halo 5 Limited Edition 1TB bundle. $499. Includes custom console with Halo sounds, and custom controller, with the Halo 5 Limited Edition (steelcase, guardian figure, game download and add-on content). Why a limited edition would come without a physical game is beyond me... It may not bother some, but it will upset many. This is a higher premium than the Forza 6 bundle (charging an extra $100 for an extra $40 package). For Halo aficionados/console collectors only. C rating.Gears of War 500GB bundle (also in white). $349. Includes Gears of War Ultimate Edition download. This 500GB model includes the new controller, but does not include a headset. B- rating. This is the most discounted bundle in sales and has many other offers with it, if you can catch them.Legacy bundles-Fallout 4 1TB bundle - $399. Includes 1TB console, Fallout 4 game confirmed to be a disc (!), a download of the Xbox 360 version of Fallout 3, and a chat headset. B+ rating. Two open-world RPGs for grownups.Rise of the Tomb Raider 1TB bundle - $399. Includes 1TB console, downloads of Rise of the Tomb Raider, DLC, and its predecessor, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, and doesn't appear to include a headset. B+ rating. The Tomb Raider reboot from 2013 was pretty good and I expect the sequel is even better, but I haven't tried it yet. Great for adults who love action adventure.Lego Movie 500GB bundle - $349. Includes 500GB console and the Lego Movie Videogame and no headset, apparently. C+ rating. Game is a cheap one and good for kids, but little value in this bundle compared to others.FIFA and Madden 16 1TB bundles. $399. I'm grouping these together because other than the type of football you prefer, they are the same. Both include either the latest Madden NFL or FIFA soccer game download and a year of EA access, a paid ($30/yr) service which allows Xbox One users early access to EA releases, extended demos with progress that can be saved if a full game is purchased, discounts on EA games, and free access to the Vault, currently 14 full games. Great if you like EA's games. A- for each.Forza 6 1TB Bundle. $399. Custom Forza-inspired console with racing sounds and custom (new, with 3.5mm audio jack) controller, and download code for Forza 6 and extra content, and a chat headset. A- rating, though some may not like the custom design and sounds.Hope you found this useful.

I love my Hyperkin it works well on Super Mario World ...
July 13, 2017
I love my Hyperkin it works well on Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country . MUST BUY OLDER ORGINAL CONTROLS THESE AREEE HORRIBLE... it makes the gameplay wayyyy more frustrating!!!
I PLAY MY GAMES MORE AND LOVING THEM-THIS IS AN AWESOME SYSTEM
November 5, 2015
this is the most awesome game system to come along..i have tons of genesis games from the mid 90's and Nintendo stuff from that same general era..this is MORE than worth the price..i'm playing my genesis games and loving them.only one con..the genesis games fit in so tightly that they're really hard to pull back out..do it carefully..every time I pull out a game I think I probably broke the system..but it's not so..just takes some elbow grease to yank them out./just yank carefully.
Good for all 3!
May 22, 2015
Plays everything I have tested so far, I know some games will not work, but I am yet to see one. I know it feels light and it's not "The REAL thing" but it plays all of them and quite well. Think of the cost of all 3 real units VS this. Well worth the money. NOT HDMI but standard AV cables, get a converter if your using this for a new TV system.
Works great, highly reccommended
November 16, 2014
Works great, highly reccommended, no awkward tricks needed to get your old games to work like back in the day with the respective consoles. It's a bit light, and the controllers leave something to be desired in the wireless features (classic mario kart battles not reccommended if you're a controller-in-the-hands-mover), but the console has ports to allow for the classic console contorllers to be plugged in to it, which is awesome. But, because it's so light, you can take it anywhere, put it anywhere, and with the top load design (with dust covers for the ports) just like back in the day, it's a trip down memory lane every time you turn it on. Can't wait to get the kids classicly trained!
For the Retro-Game Player: It doesn't get better than THIS!
April 28, 2014
As a game player since the Atari 2600 era, I can still recall how I watched in awe of the first NES games I saw. Their characters were so much more defined than previous fare. How I marveled at the Light Gun upon first use! I fondly recall the "war" between SNES and Genesis loyalists of the 90's. Well the war is over...and this console buries it! Come SNES fans, come Genesis adherents, gather together and bring your NES Light Gun because this unit plays them all! Don't like buying batteries for the wireless controllers provided? This unit has 2 genuine controller ports for each system so your old controllers are compatible, too. The music may come off as a bit grainy at times compared to what I recall of the sounds from the original consoles. But, then again the original consoles were not cranking out BOSE quality music either. I just thought if I noticed it, someone else might, too, so I figured I'd mention it. The graphics are just as I recalled them from the good old days and the S-Video option just makes it better. So in conclusion: if you liked NES, SNES, Genesis games or any combination of the three, you should enjoy this unit as you breathe life back into your old favorites.
Great System... but only if you are proficient at console modification.

I purchased my Retron 3 after the death of my original SNES and NES, and Even though my Genesis is still operational, it has been showing it's age, so I wanted to consolidate at the same time as replacing my dead systems. out of the box it had a few problems, the snes portion had really distorted sound, Genesis sound was slightly off, and the power switch broke on the first day I had it. while some people would just write it off as a piece of junk, and forget it, I like to do my research before a purchase and knew going in that this would not be a perfect product and that I would have to do some work to it to get it to be what I wanted.Warning: some tech speak aheadAfter soldering in a new power switch, and changing some of the internal components that handled sound, I had a very nice system capable of playing most SNES games, even super FX games, only SA-1 titles will not run (kirby superstar, some versions of Mario RPG), and every Genesis game (except Virtua Racing) while some buyers have reported having issues running certain games (Ecco Tides Of Time, Xmen) I have found that pressing the reset button, or flipping the O/J region switch on the back of the console fixes 98% of Genesis game problems. The NES portion has typical NOAC game incompatibilities such as Battletoads and Paperboy, however Castlevania 3 can be made to work with the addition of a missing chip.NOTE About compatibility: before playing ANY game on the system properly clean the games with Isopropyl Alcohol! These games are over 20 years old, and attempting to use dirty cartridges with the system will result in the game not working, even if they will run on original hardware!.I have been able to get special accessories such as the Game Genies, Everdrive MD, Super Everdrive, Famicom Disk System to work reliably, and the controller ports work great for most official and third party controllers. The pack in wireless controllers are not the greatest, but do function in a pinch. That said I cannot really recommend the console to novices who are just looking to use it as it comes out of the box, but instead to someone like me who is a tinkerer and likes to see how things work, because then It's a great alternative to aging collectible hardware.I also have to recommend the console to adult gamers since although built sturdy it is still a bit lightweight and expensive to stand up to young kids or abuse.

I'm having so much fun with this
February 1, 2017
I'm having so much fun with this! I finally broke down and bought myself a gaming system, and I went with the xbox after a ton of online research and friend surveys. I'm glad I did. I use it as my tv hub for netflix, hulu, live tv, pandora, games, etc. The kinect is fun, because you can tell your tv system to turn on and shut down (I'm that lazy!). I just had surgery so I haven't played any games using the kinect, but I've played some in the past at a friend's house and I remember it being very fun! Overall, very happy with this purchase
good for amateurs like me
December 7, 2016
it didn't meet my expectations, the games are not great, console is making little sound but apparently it is expected, only giving one remote.
All n all i am not a amateur gamer so for me it is fine but i won't recommend it for hardcore gamers. It is bulky and doesn't look robust.
The initial setup and downloading of three games took hours for me, so please make sure you must have high speed internet
Great bundle for an even better price

Xbox One 500GB Console with Kinect Bundle (Includes Chat Headset) Great bundle for an even better price. Works as it should and I love it.
My hubby is disable and needs to be motivated to move more and some of the strategy games are great for his cognitive issues
January 26, 2016
We purchased this X box One for the whole family. My hubby is disable and needs to be motivated to move more and some of the strategy games are great for his cognitive issues. I also home school my girls and during the cold winter months it is hard to get them motivated to go out. This is used sometimes for PE. the games that came with it are fun but the Zoo one is a little boring. The Kinect is something to get used to for sure and the games system does not seem to come with much for instructions. All the instruction tell you is how to hard wire it but nothing on how to set up the game so you can play. The initial set up is time consuming but once its done you can start having fun. We may have had more issues do to the fact that we are not gamers. I would recommend this to a friend and it is neat how you can play with a friend who is not with you.
It's awesome. Wish thee were more kid games.
December 25, 2015
All of your entertainment needs in one. Games, tv, movies, and more. This is great. The Xbox one keeps suprising me. It can do so much. We have really enjoyed it so far. Only thing is I wish they had more kid games. So many of the games are not good for little kids. The console it's self is amazing. We love it.

3 consoles for $60
May 25, 2017
Amazing console, only real complaints is the location of controller ports, the nes ports are a bit weird,i thought i had plugged my controller into port 1 by instinct, but apparently it was plugged into port 2,if you dont mind turning the console to where the ports are facing you, then no problem, and last complaint is sometimes (exp 150 games in 1 carts) some games wont play because of the chip in the original NES coding that only allows official games to be played on an official system, but if you dont have a 150 in 1 cart or somethinf and you have the legit cartridge, you should be fine. A definite "should" buy.
Pretty good all-in-one.
July 28, 2015
Works pretty good. Had mine for a few years now. I've read varying reviews on this, some people say that some of the different game types dont work too well. For me, its the SNES. I have to re-insert cartridges several times to get it to work, although the NES and Sega ports work just fine. The controllers that it comes with work ok, but the are IR, so you have to point them at the system for them to work. They also lag a little, so for some of the quicker games like Ninja Gaiden or even Super Mario World, it's tough to play using the stock controller. Fortunately, it has 2 ports for each controller type, so you can buy some after market controllers and plug those in, and it works pretty well.I have to say, its awesome to be able to dive back into my old games, I even have a POS tube TV to hook this up to for the full effect. I would give this 5 stars if the SNES port worked better.
dont buy the zapper if you own a flat screen
December 2, 2013
i only bought a few games for this, the genesis mostly does not work well, but the super NES games work and i bought the controllers for it work great, the nes games are so basic but my kids like them, grab any games you find cheap as they are going up, and i would suggest you dont buy the zapper gun if you have a flat screen, some games dont work i should look up the list but im sure its on here for you to findbut i do feel that owning one of these is so cool as it was the games i grew up with and the cartridges are more sturdy and rugged than the disks i dont mind my kids playing these with such titles as kirby and mario of course sonic the old WWF gamesi know im no grammer studend but hey im just informing you that this is as close to being young as the fountain of youth lol have fun daddys out there who can remember forward back forward punch (mortal kombat)
well, i like it a whole lot.. but everything has their flaws
July 6, 2013
well, for starters... it came in the mail and it looked awesome, i mainly bought the thing so i wouldn't have to actually play my SNES, NES, and genesis... and at first, i opened it up, and the design of the whole thing was small, space saving, no cords everywhere, and it seemed so nice, and it was... immediately,i just stuck starfox in the SNES slot, worked great, but the colors were weird, and it was a bit dark... next i tried to use my super gameboy, it worked... but my ears have never heard such a horrible noise as the sound quality for it, and the snes mouse worked for mario paint.... all of my SNES games worked, as for the genesis and NES... but, i go to put in dragon warrior... it didnt work at all, i cleaned it and everything, worked in my actual NES, but not in this... so i moved on to the castlevania trilogy, it all worked great.. same with mario, and all my other 39 regular non battery backed save games... so i went to play manic mansion, it did the same as dragon warrior... same gray screen with scattered pixels and everything... i tried zelda 2, same excact thing... all my NES battery backed save games did NOT work on the thing... nut, now on to something else... first of all, everyone knows this, the controllers suck, they look awesome, but suck.... now, a problem i had with this thing was no instruction manual, its nice to have... but it didnt have one... i may be a teenager, but i figure'd this thing out easy, because its so simple, yet awesome and if you dont have one, and your into classic gaming, reliving your childhood, or just getting into retro gaming, this thing is for you!
Works great on an older TV
October 19, 2012
I got the console as expected, so far it works great for all games and modes, and all controller ports work great. My title says "works great on an older TV", simply because it doesnt work on a newer TV, I would say anything newer than 5 years old this console will not work, but it does work on my older heavy TV set. I am giving it a 4 because of this, it is fun to relive my childhood, but it would have been funner to do so on my new 52in TV.The provided AV cable works great on older TV sets, but not the newer TV (5yrs old), the provided S cable, did not work on my computer or my newer TV. I have yet to try high def cables, they might do the trick, but would rather not waste the money now since it does work on my older heavier TV. Good luck to you all!!PS. make sure you have the games you really loved to play!UPDATE, UPDATE, UPDATE..10/27/12 just tried high def cables (av and s video) and they both work great on my new TV. this is awesome. anyone who is thinking of reliving their old games consoles should really give this thing a try. its a good investment, only downside, is I have to go out and find more games to play on this thing, which ofcourse will also be the fun side... just don't ask my wife what she thinks LOL..Buy it it's more fun than playing them on the Computer Emulator.
Interesting System
August 28, 2011
I was pleased that the item arrived brand new, in the original box & wrapping. At first, I couldn't get the system to work & I was frustrated, but when my boyfriend took over, it worked well. The controllers didn't want to work at first, but now they seem to be doing fine. For some reason the controller didn't work until I put the batteries in the second controller, then it was OK. My Nintendo games play well, except for Super Mario Brothers 3 & Taboo. The Sega Genesis games work fine. I don't have any Super Nintendo games - yet - so I will have to wait & see how those work when I get some. I would recommend this system & mention it may be less frustrating if you have the original controllers, not the wireless ones, but if you don't, it will still be OK.

Controller didn't work.
July 12, 2017
Had to buy a new controller :( Which pumped up the price to the original. Should've just bought it new. So sad.
Not exactly what advertised but it's ok
June 2, 2017
I was really happy I was getting the Kinect and headset with the console for the prize, however, when I opened the box it was missing the headset and the battery for the controller. The console itself seems to be working perfectly fine and thought it has a few scratches that can be overlooked it also came with a dent in the USB port (see pictures). This was not what I was expecting but it's also like ok so
Frustrating.. crashy as heck, painful to setup accounts for kids.
April 20, 2017
This may be the most frustrating device in my house, it crashes more than windows ME, and that's saying something. The Kinect authentication is a real pain, and it requires you to create accounts for all your children, another pain. When a new person passes by the screen while I'm playing a game, it usually crashes because it's trying to log them in in the background. What a pain in the butt. Don't buy this, get a PlayStation. I didn't return it, but only because my daughter loves the dancing games with the Kinect device.
Missing chat headset
July 26, 2016
Everything was fine with the exception that the chat headset was not included.
Product works great, however
February 21, 2016
Product works great, however, my son removed a bunch of labels that had been placded over the box marking it as "refurbished" when it was advertised as new.
Great bundle but missing chat headset
December 25, 2015
Arrived in great condition but the headset is not included. Very disappointed as that was one of the selling points for this bundle.

Well...
December 23, 2016
The product arrived on time in proper packaging. We have had the system almost a year 2 of the 3 slots work. A lot of the games we have tried using tend not to work we have brought it to a local shop thinking maybe it was the games where they stated it is the system. All in all it last the majority of the year the kids loved seeing/playing the older games.
Be advised
March 13, 2015
Positive - It plays the games. The negatives - There are no instructions for the either the device or the wireless controllers. I am unsure if the controllers are just sitting there burning out the batteries or if there is an automatic standby setting. The range on the controllers is very limited. They have to be almost directly in front of the Retron and be no father than about 12 inches.Advice - if you do not have access to controllers that you can plug into the game station, purchase them when you order this system.
Really a cheap and clunky game player. Controllers are JUNK, and after market are not much better

We got this due to a huge supply of old video games. The controllers are just a total waste of a pair of batteries. And amazingly these guys don't even sell or recommend who to get the decent SNES, NES and Sega controllers from or even sell workable ones. The graphics are somewhat poor to me, the fact that 30 years of technology has come forward you would think they could make one that would blow your socks off. Not yet!
Nostalgia
February 18, 2014
We purchased this product so we would be able to play the video games that we used to enjoy with our son (he's 3 and loves "sega" aka. Sonic) on something other than daddies PS3 and would be inexpensive enough for him to be able to call it "his". We went out and purchased an old school "tube tv" for his room so we would be able to play Duck Hunt with him (since because of the flash gun, duck hunt will only work on tube tv's).We got the system today and while it plays the games so far without any problems, the wireless controllers that comes with it are just junk. We were a little disappointed because the most exciting part about the system for us was the NES slot and showing our 3 yr old "Duck Hunt"!! Now we have to wait until we get an original NES controller (we already purchased the SNES and SEGA ones, thank goodness or he wouldn't have even been able to play the system until the weekend) but that is really the only complaint I have about it at the moment. I gave it three stars, because for me the ability to play all three of these console games in just one unit is awesome, but I do think that the items you supply with your product ( ie. the wireless controllers) should work correctly or you shouldn't include them at all.
Fun item, but the sound is distorted. CONTROLLERS DON'T WORK
October 30, 2013
The Good: It is really great that this sort of thing exists since I've gone through 2 regular SNES systems in the past 10 years and they're only going up in value. Since they're all old, they're getting harder to find a good system that I am confident will last long before getting glitchy. This is a good stop-gap, but I'd stick to the originals (for reasons below) if playing an involved RPG. I've been playing it for about a month now and it has held up pretty good and plays MOST, but not all, of my games.I LOVE that it includes sockets for the original controllers. This is, unfortunately, quite necessary (see below). It also saves a lot of space and won't destroy your save file (like other retro-remake systems will). Visually, the color is a little saturated, but not too big of a difference. Blue= blueish- purple in some cases. The Bad: The sound for all three platforms (SNES, NES, and Genesis) all have severely distorted sound. This makes it hard to listen to the otherwise good music in a lot of classic games. I literally switched back to my old SNES playing Final Fantasy III because the high notes are so overmodulated. The Ugly: The wireless controllers simply do not work. There is an extreme delay when the button push registers at all, which it usually doesn't.Doesn't play a few games I really like: Skyshark for the NES and Kirby Superstar for the SNES are what I've found so far. They play fine on the old systems. It's a hassle to have to plug in the old one (thank goodness I have them!). Some committed retro gamers won't like this part if they have obscure favorites that simply won't work on this.Overall: It's a great idea and I'm looking forward to the Retron 5. Hopefully they improve on the glitches noted above. It makes a great backup and has really cut down on the aging process that my overplayed SNES has endured for 20 some years.
Retro game system
September 22, 2012
Bought this Hyperkin Retron 3 video game system. Thought it would be nice to have an all in one. Instructions are on the box, not on a separate sheet. The S-video cable didn't seem to work, tried the AV cable still not working. Moved the games in and out a few times and finally got them to work after trial and error and reset. Had to pull up on the cartridge. Haven't tried the Genesis slot yet. Sound quality is about a 3 out of 5. Controllers are light and feel lesser quality and less game control. Unit is light weight and feels cheaply made. We used the Super Nintendo controller which was much better. No where near the quality of original Nintendo, but if it lasts a few years it will be worth the cost. Hoping it will grow on me!

Controllers are garbage unless pointed at console, cartridge slots feel like they will yank board out of games. Atleast you use the real controllers but slots are in a bad spot, Buy the real consoles, this can be convenient until then.
BRING BACK THE 90's!
November 6, 2014
Bring back memories from the 90's! I rock all my old NES games on here without any issues. Well, the only issue is the damn controller! Stupid infrared sucks! You need to be super-close to the console to make this thing work. Thats the only reason why I gave this 2 stars. Other than that, the console plays perfectly, especially if you can plug your old NES controller, which is what I do now. FIX THE INFRARED!!!

got this as a gift for my nephews
January 2, 2014
I got this as a gift for my nephews for xmas 2013. They plugged it up and only the NES/SNES game part would do anything-they couldn't get the SEGA part of the system to work. They tried unplugging and replugging it all up....they tried cleaning the system and the games....nothing.....Am returning.....

You get what you pay for...This is a three-in-one system.a) Two SNES or Gen. controllers plugged in at the same time causes conflicts. Meaning, some buttons do not work.b) The slot hole for SNES is not big enough for some games to get full lead contacts on the cartridge, so they don't work.c) The RCA wires that come with it are REALLY cheap, and the middle part broke off on me in the R-audio connector.d) The controllers are LED remotes, so do not rely upon them. Useless.Other than that, it worked. Meaning that the NES portion worked, but the other two were a 50% split. I suggest spending a little more and getting something else in the end.
Well, the system does play games....
February 19, 2011
I saw this on amazon and was excited, I could just have one system to play games for 3. I went out to antuque and thrift stores and got some genesis games. I never had a Genesis before. The games seem to play fine. As do those for the Nes and SNES. The system does not feel cheap. It is easy to figure out what to do and where things go on the system. The problem I have with this system is with the controller. It does not work at all. My character in a game will move for a second then stop. Now I have to go out and get a Genesis controller. I don't see why they would make such a bad controller for such a cool system. I would recomend this to people only if they did not mind having to go out and buy controllers for the three systems. That really would not be a problem if the system was a little cheaper.

it stopped working. Put new batteries in it and still not working right. I've re-booted the system and re-synchronized them and the only thing it will do is turn the system on, nothing else. Didn't expect that to happen. I've been traveling so much I didn't get to return it in time.
Setup is lengthy and annoying
February 25, 2016
Spent an hour setting up; Haven't got to play yet. Set up is pain pain pain. Don't know why I would need to setup a Microsoft account to play. Why only after going through all the lengthy steps to set up a Microsoft account does it tell you a child cannot set up an account . The verification images are horrible, nearly impossible to see.

Don’t work with all SEGA games
October 6, 2017
It doesn’t work for all SEGA genesis games. I have 5 and only works one game. The others just appear on the screen games created for SEGA génesis and don’t work. Worst possible costumer service. First they told me it was a problem with the hardware then, that the retron isn’t compatible with all sega games. Which they don’t mention anywhere. Then that the games were other regions, and when I told it were from th USA they retun to the excuse it doesn’t read all games. So I have a damaged retron and they do nothing. Worst experience ever!
buyers beware

Awesome concept but don't be fooled as I was that 1 star reviews are just whining about controllers. System is very poorly built, you have to jam games in and out of ports. My NES port didn't work out of box. Most people seem to have a broken snes port but mine was the NES port. You can expect to have at least one of three ports to break or not work out of box. Great idea and snes games looked great but never got to see NES game performance. Seems not to support most Sega games either. I was fine with crappy controllers since it used my originals but system is built very poorly
packed well and looks great however this item is very cheaply made
October 23, 2014
This product came fast, packed well and looks great however this item is very cheaply made. The wireless remotes don't really work unless your directly in front of it. Also on the the contacts on the remote was messed up and has intermittent play. Good idea and concept but shotty construction.
great consept, terrible execution
April 18, 2014
A great idea to be able to play three games using one console, and adding two wireless controllers that can be used for all three consoles. Unfortunately the wireless controllers don't seem to sense when you are pressing buttons so there will be times when your character will just stand there doing nothing. also the NES cartridge reader held onto my cartridges so tightly that after I took out my NES cartridge three or four times the reader was damaged. If they could add an eject button for the NES part of the system at least (eject buttons for all three would be better) then I might have actually tried to get the wireless controllers to work. Even if I couldn't do that I could still use the original controllers because it does have two controller sockets for each of the systems.
What a disappointment!
December 18, 2013
I am really disappointed with this purchase! I buy a ton of stuff on Amazon, but this one was a bust! My son lives in another state, I paid for gift wrap too. He was so excited I let him open early before Christmas over Skype, he plugs it in the next day and it doesn't work. The worst part is I can't even return it now because the expiration date past! It was a gift! Well, I had to go to another buyer on amazon and spend another 60 for the unit and 20 to ship it to him in two days. Not cool! I will let you know how it goes with the other vendor.
Low Build Quality and Compatibility Issues
April 18, 2012
I purchased this a while ago. I figured I could saved some space in my studio apartment by having a 3 in one system. Within the first few weeks the controller ports on the NES side and SNES side quit working. Shortly after that the thing started having glitches with most games. There are also compatibility issues. The sound from the Genesis emulation on it makes the games sound like nails going through a blender. The pitch is off and the sound is grating. In the end I ended up obtaining a NES, SNES, and Genesis and put this thing in a closet. If you'd like to spend $70 for a doorstop, then buy this. If not, shop around. Do it right and you can get the trinity of systems for about the same price and they will be universally compatible and have a much higher build quality. Put this in perspective briefly. My Sega Genesis was built in 1989 and still runs flawlessly. I bought this Hyperkin Retron a year ago and it died in under a month. This is a cheaply built item that isn't worth the time or risk.
