Sunny SF-B1002 Indoor bike.... a good purchase decision
December 12, 2016
I spent a lot of time researching the available indoor bikes and decided to focus on the mid-upper low end of the price range. I decided to go with belt drive rather than chain for quietness and lower maintenance. Based on my experience with the Sunny model SF-B1002 I am very happy with the belt drive decision. It is absolutely silent. I learned that flywheel weight was important relative to smoothness and real bike like feel. The SF-B1002 49 pound flywheel has that extra 25% weight worth the small cost. In addition the subject model resistance/brake system of leather press down was definitely preferable over the clamp alternative. The reviews convinced me the SF-B1002 was structurally very solid and my experience is it is solid as a rock. I am over 200 pounds and spin hard and there is just no frame flexing or movement. For my use I needed to add some useful live visible performance information. I attached a POLAR V650 bike computer with cadence and speed sensors. I get real time heart rate, cadence, distance, calories and exercise duration time attached to a POLAR handlebar mount. Even better I can display on my PC a data output for each completed exercise using the POLAR Flow software. As the exercises I do are HIIT Spin routines all based on interval times, timed hard spin and rest, I needed a Interval Training Round Timer. I tried a basic GYMBOSS model but switched to a Everlast Interval Timer which has a very loud timer alarm. The Sunny SF-B1002 was shipped via FedEx. It was well packed and the box arrived with no sign of mishandling. It is very heavy, 130 pounds, and managing it by myself I had to unpack the box and move the pre-assembled basic bike by itself to the room where it would live. Then I could move all the sub-pieces together on a hand cart. Assembly was pretty easy and the instructions are well written. Mounting the POLAR distance and cadence sensors is a little tricky as the physical structure is different than a bicycle which the sensors were designed for attachment. Using double sided tape for the sensors and stacked(3 or so) Neodymium Magnets (1.26" x 1/16" ) to fill in the spaces. peddle crank and belt cover to wheel. I found the seat to be a little painful for my butt so I replaced it with a "Bikeroo" men's saddle. Eventually I will replace the peddles with Mountain Bike clips on one side to fit my shoes/cleats and toe brackets on the other side of the peddle for normal shoes. So my net opinion of the Sunny SF-B1002 indoor bike is very positive. I am 100% happy with my purchase decision and am very comfortable recommending others to purchase it. I enjoy it every day and based on a couple of weeks experience can't offer any cons for consideration. Florida Bob
Bought to use with Peloton app - **notes on BANGING fix** inside
August 25, 2016
If you've had the BANGING issue with this bike, skip to the end for notes on my fix***********************************Initially I had looked at buying the Peloton bike because of their really great app but ultimately decided it was not worth the investment considering spinning was completely new to me. My intention was to use this bike in conjunction with the Peloton app ($12/mo). So far I am very satisfied with my purchase.Delivery - I paid just under $300 for the bike which included shipping. Which is really unbelievable in and of itself. I'm not sure how the UPS guy even got it up the stairs to our landing because the box weighed over 120 pounds. This bike is *very* sturdy. My first concern was that for $300 you would get a rickety piece of garbage. Not the case. Peloton charges $250 just for shipping.Assembly - honestly, the actual assembly part took about ten minutes. But it took 10 minutes to get the box into the basement, 15 minutes to unpack the box and unwrap all the parts and another 5 to sort of gather everything together. There are very few actual pieces, like I said, the bike is very sturdy when put together."Add ons" / changes - I made a few minor additions to the bike to improve the use.1 - Added a pair of Shimano SPD pedals ($35). These are fantastic pedals, I *highly* recommend them and they work great on this bike. Took only a few minutes to swap out. So far zero issues with the pedals. Please not if you have never used clip-in pedals before, you will need bike shoes with SPD cleats on them to use.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003ZMDK5C2 - Simple ipad holder for the handlebars ($20). I have a beat up, cracked-up old ipad4 that I planned to use on the bike and this clip works perfectly.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D5YTO5K3 - Bike mat ($30) - perfect size, seems to work great so far. Its a mat, nothing fancy.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001THTUAO4 - Wireless computer from spinning.com ($65) - I tried two of the Cateye models and just did not like how small they were and one I could not get to work with the spin bike. The spinning.com computers are made to work with their brand spin bikes but seems to work great with this model. Look I am not an engineer, I'm not going to guarantee that these are insanely accurate and are really only made for their brand bikes - but its worked fine so far. I was most interested in something that was wireless, would display time/cadence at the same time and that was easy to read.So I spent $150 or so on other options and am completely happy right now with my setup.***Notes on use with the Peloton app*** - As I said, I bought this bike specifically to use with the Peloton app. I am very impressed with the app so far. They have dozens of live classes every day or thousands of on demand ones. The app has a pretty simple filter that allows you to search/sort by class type, time, instructor etc. I wish there were a couple of minor tweaks - like letting you save your favorite rides into some kind of favorites menu - but so far I am very happy. The ipad version of the app is $12/month whereas if you have the Peleton bike they charge you $40/month. Even at that price, IMO, its worth it since I have been using it every day. Spin studios in the DC area can run upwards of $175-200/month for unlimited rides.***Notes on FIXES or things that might break*** - As has been noted in other reviews there seem to be a couple of quality control issues, both of which I ran into.1 - Squeaky resistance pad - Definitely happened to me over the first week. I used it every day and it seemed to get worse. I bought a $7 can of liquid graphite spray off Amazon and I gave it a few shots, it cleared right up. I could see just giving it a shot every couple weeks. Nothing major here, very easy fix.2 - That BANGING or knocking on every peddle stroke. - If you've had it, you know what I'm talking about. It sounds like the bike is broken and goes BANG BANG BANG on each peddle stroke. I emailed the company and they sent me a PDF with pictures about making some adjustments to the belt with the two adjustment screws on the front. I spent @ 20 minutes screwing around with it and eventually it did stop. It was a pain in the neck and very annoying to have to deal with but it did finally stop.- Take the belt cover off - screws on the two sides and bottom- take the big side nuts off from the fork- adjust the screws I circled in yellow. Experimentation and patience required!Look, this bike cost $300 shipped. For that price, I had a reasonable expectation that the bike would not be perfect and would probably need some adjustments. If I wanted to buy the $2000 bike with $250 shipping charge, I would certainly have expected a higher level of quality. But for the cost I am very happy with my purchase.
Excellent Buy on a Cycle
June 7, 2016
Fantastic! Don't let the weight of this item discourage you from purchasing it. This cycles has a small footprint, taking up a very small area of about 20" wide and 50" long. The front/top facing wheels make this super easy to move. The wheel, weighing in at 49 lbs, actually helps make moving this super easy. Since the weight is in the front, tilting it forward using the handle bars and the small skate style wheels make it easy to move. I keep mine next to the couch so I can watch TV, or for me I use my TV as a computer monitor and I can read while I ride. I purchased a wider seat, as I sort of need it right now. An injury has slowed me down and my bum has paid the price. Anyhow, the frame is strong and sturdy. The seat is adjustable forward/backward and up/down. The belt makes this super quite, but as noted needed a tiny bit of silicone spray on the friction pad at the wheel to quiet it down. It make a slight rubbing sound which is normal. The handlebars are heavy, hard, sort of rubber coated and multi angled for plenty of positions to hold. Personally I need to find something to pad the bars a bit, but that's not big deal. The only drawback I can note is that the handle bars are adjustable up and down, but I wish I could angle them up a little.I chose this bike due to very high ratings on many cycling websites and although I am new to this I have to agree this is a great buy.
Great bike for your house!
January 4, 2016
This is a great option for in-home spinning. I love spin class but was having difficulty making it to the gym for the limited class schedule. This bike is perfect along with free YouTube videos that I use for class in my home. I did purchase pedals that have clips for $10 on Amazon Commuter Road Bike Pedal Reversible Dual Sided Clipless Shimano SPD / Platform Pedals and installed them instead of the ones that come with the bike. I also put a gel cover on the seat ($9 at Wal-mart). Anyone who has taken a spin class knows how bad the seats are, cycle shorts Canari Gel Liner Cycling Short Womens(Black with Pink trim.)SM with padding built in work too.I like the fact that it is a belt vs. chain, it is very quite. The water bottle holder is a plus as well. It doesn't have a digital read out but the other reviews talk about how to add one. I don't find it necessary since I know the basic output from years of spin class. It is very HEAVY so make sure you have help to get it to its final resting place. My husband and I almost killed ourselves getting it up a flight of stairs. It was very simple to put together though, it didn't take more than 15 minutes.Huge fan of this bike!
A great spin bike!
December 18, 2014
I have had the bike for about a week now and I really love it. The setup was easy it took about 30min and all the tools I needed were there. At first it squeaked when I started to ride it but reading online I found that I could buy some Silicon based spray on the brake pad and that fixed it. The spray I used was Liquid Wrench Silicone Spray. I really wanted a bike computer for this so I purchased CatEye Strada Wireless Bicycle Computer (Black) CC-RD300W along with the bike. Adding that on took like 10min. I am going to upload some pictures here. I used double sided tape to attache the sensor to the bike and I used magnetic tape to raise the little magnet sensor on the wheel high enough to get a reading. But you could use double sided tape there too. I also switched my magnet out for another one I had just laying around so I didnt have to clip the threaded end off the one in the box.
A good solution even for a "serious" cyclist.
November 17, 2014
I just got the bike on Friday and used it twice over the weekend so this isn't a long-term review but my initial impression is highly favorable. I am a "serious" cyclist, which is not to say I'm a professional or anything like that but I log a lot of miles on my road bike and use high-end equipment. I've always hated hooking a bike up to an indoor trainer and I've avoided that type of training for many years. I finally went in on a spinning bike and I am very impressed with the results.I chose this model mostly because it had the heaviest flywheel (produces a smoother pedaling experience) and it uses a belt to drive the wheel instead of a chain (quieter). It was easy to put the bike together and I'm always happy nowadays when things actually fit and work. I skipped the cheap seat and pedals that it came with and instead installed my own Look-style clipless pedals and a Specialized saddle. The saddle adjustment worked well-enough as it went up and down and you can move the saddle fore and aft on its rails to get the right fit. Unfortunately the handlebars only have an up and down adjustment (no fore or aft) but I'm pleased enough with my fit on the bike.My primary complaint about indoor trainers was that they always felt unstable, especially when out of the saddle. This bike is rock solid and includes adjustable feet to make sure it sits perfectly level. My second complaint about indoor trainers is that they simply couldn't achieve a gear hard enough to truly simulate climbing an actual hill on your bike. This bike, however, has more than enough tension to simulate even the hardest hills yet retains its smooth pedal motion. I am truly surprised and impressed. My only complaint is a picky one. The tension knob is a continuously turning adjustment. Turn right to tighten the tension (and make it harder to pedal), turn left to ease off and make it easier. It's the way all spinning bikes work, I suppose. With this method, however, there's no way to "Index" or "bookmark" a location so you know you returned to the same point each time you ride. In other words, you turned the dial to make it hard to pedal one day but there's no way to know that you turned to the same spot when you did the same workout the next day. Like I said, that's awfully picky but it is the one check mark I would put in the column for an indoor trainer. On the whole, this is a well-made, good-looking bike for a terrific price. it should suit your needs regardless of whether you're a serious cyclist or just an exercise enthusiast.

Love this spin bike!!!
January 21, 2016
I never write reviews but I had to for this bike. I've been spinning for 15 years in various gyms and have ridden many different bikes. This bike is so quiet and smooth. Love the angle of the handlebars. Can't believe it was so inexpensive. I had some trouble putting it together but once I did, everything was perfect. I'm 5'6" and the size is perfect for me on a lower setting, do I'm sure taller people would be fine.
Great investment!
December 31, 2015
This is a great piece of equipment for the money, I am 6'2 and my wife is 5'5' and we both ride it comfortably. We have put 3+ hours a week on it since we received it and it has been excellent so far. It is very quiet, very smooth and has a spot to rest the ipad to watch spin training videos on. We did swap out the seat for a narrow anatomical seat, which has made a huge difference in comfort. I typically do a 20 mile weekly ride when it is nice out and this has allowed me to continue to ride when the weather is poor.
Solid bike, great price.
October 24, 2014
I got this bike while recovering from hip surgery. I couldn't run so stationary biking was a good way to keep my legs moving and get a cardio workout. I'm grateful to the FedEx guy that carried the package up to my second story apartment because this thing is solid and pretty heavy! Assembly was easy, I had it ready to go in about 20 min. The bike is very sturdy and has a very good solid feel to it while I'm pedaling- the frame is solid and the flywheel is a good weight so it has a pretty realistic feel. The seats have a pretty good range- my girlfriend, at 5'1", and myself, at 5'9", can use the bike comfortably. The handle bar is also adjustable and the seat can go backwards and forwards so you can customize the fit. There is a little bit of noise as this is a chain drive but its not bad at all. I set up a fan right in front of the bike, put on a show on Netflix, and get my workout on. Very pleased with this bike, especially considering the price.
Great for a home gym
July 28, 2014
This bike is awesome. I bought the bike 6 weeks after I had my baby. As a new mom it is almost impossible to get to the gym on a regular basis. While the baby napped I would roll my bike out in front of the TV and ride (has back wheels easy for moving). The bike is on par with any bike I have ever used in a gym. I was an avid spinner before baby and was very happy with the build of the bike. I am taller 5’9 and had no problem adjusting the seat to my needs. The bike is light enough that you can roll it from room to room. My husband assembled the bike in about 20 minutes. It came in large pieces and did not require any complicated assembly. Overall I am happy with this purchase. I lost my baby weight and got back in shape without leaving the house. The price is also great considering I did not need a gym membership or a babysitter.
Great workout!
June 27, 2014
The shipping for this item was very quick, at least 3 days before quoted! I have been a runner since high school and have had ongoing knee pain for the past few years. Spinning gives me an incredible workout without the high impact. There are many 30 and 50 minute cycling workouts posted on the internet for free. I've been doing them 6 days a week for the past 2 weeks and the change in routines and songs are very motivating. I just gave birth to my second child 10 weeks ago and I've already lost all my pregnancy weight plus 7 lbs! It's a great bike and my iPad sits nicely on the handle. Hubby put it together in less than 30 minutes. Buy!
Excellent exercise bike for smaller people
March 29, 2012
Let's cut to the chase -- this exercise bike is smaller than the most popular models. It is 43" high rather than the standard 47" high. Those few inches make a huge difference if you're under 5'4". We have users that range from 5'0" to over 5'8" riding this bike and they can all adjust it to be perfectly comfortable. The same users could not use models that are 47" high even with the seats lowered as far as they could go. The handlebars could also be adjusted for comfort for a rider who like road bikes where the handlebars are low (level with the seat) and for users who are used to comfort bikes, where the handlebars are much higher, allowing for upright riding. In more detail:Assembly: All parts are provided, including tools! One thing to note is that the bolts are already screwed into the parts for shipping. You need to unscrew the bolts, put the parts together and then re-insert and tighten the bolts. The only parts you need to assemble are the legs, the seat post and the handlebar. It took about 15 minutes total. It can be done by a single person, but because the main body of the bike is heavy (with the flywheel), two people would make it easier. The only other odd part of the assembly is the plastic housing that covers the bolts that connect the handlebars to the vertical bar. The vertical bar is square but the plastic housing through which it must be inserted is mostly round. It has several notches cut into the plastic housing to allow the bar to be inserted though it. However, when inserted with the notches at the corners of the square bar, the plastic housing is not aligned correctly. I thought this was a manufacturing error. What I did was insert the housing all the way to the end using the notches and then twisted the housing to the correct alignment. It worked fine that way and the rest of the assembly of the handlebars went smoothly.Adjustments: One of the places where the manufacturer took a short cut for cost is the adjustment knobs. Many of the other exercise bikes in this price range have a spring loaded adjustment knob so that you just have to loosen it, pull it out against the spring and move the component (seat or handlebar), then release the knob to click into one of the pre-drilled holes. This bike uses a screw-in knob. In order to adjust, you need to fully unscrew the knob out, make your adjustment, then line up the hole in the bar and re-screw in the knob. This is much harder to do than a spring-loaded adjustment knob. It's not a deal-breaker, but it is an inconvenience. I wonder if you can buy spring-loaded adjustment knobs aftermarket.iPad Holder: This was the best surprise one could get. I was planning on buying an iPad holder that could clamp onto the handlebar. What I found was that the handlebar has a large U-shaped part between the long handlebars. Along with the plastic housing that covers the bolts, the U-shaped bar makes a perfect iPad platform that is stable, large and perfectly angled to watch videos as you workout. Did they design it that way on purpose? I don't know, I just know that it works perfectly!Seat: The seat is wide and cushioned. However, we will be replacing it with something even more comfortable. The seat is not razor thin, but it is hard enough that some users may want to find a replacement. Seats are a personal preference I think. The one they provide is not bad, but you could do better if you want longer workouts.Summary - For the vertically-challenged, this exercise bike is a god-send. I saw one review on this bike that said that it is not for under 5'5". I couldn't disagree more. It is perfect for 5"0" and above. With the iPad platform and quiet operation, it is a great way to get exercise at home!

This bike is a good value for the money
April 16, 2017
This bike is a good value for the money. Watch the price though, as what they charge varies quite a bit. I waited a while to purchase it and saw the price go up $100 and now, as I write this review, it is $40 less than what I bought it for. Maybe they discount it later in the year until the holidays and then jack it up for Christmas and January-February timeframe when we're buying stuff like this.It is sturdy and good to ride with the heavy flywheel, especially once I got it adjusted. I plan to change the pedals one of these days, but for now, the straps will have to suffice. It is a good workout.
Great bike
March 22, 2017
I've had the bike for a few days and for the most part I LOVE it. Very sturdy and I haven't had any banging issues or complaints about the tension like other reviewers. The left pedal was difficult to screw in and I'm still not confident that it's in there properly. And YES I know it screws in counter clockwise. You can't miss it in the instructions and tag that came on the pedal. It just blatantly doesn't want to fit in there. Also, I feel that this bike was made for someone just a little taller than me. I'm 5'5" and I have the seat and handlebars all way up and I'm still seated too far away.Finally.... this bike is heavy. That's a good thing but as a single woman who lives alone it was difficult getting it in the house and upstairs. Be prepared to have help or pay for the assembly.Overall I highly recommend this bike so far.
Great Purchase!
March 3, 2017
I eagerly awaited my bike as soon as I clicked that button to purchase it. I waited with baited breath for 2 whole days... gotta love Prime!! When that UPS truck pulled up to the curb I did a little happy dance.... told the driver to wheel that bad boy into the garage and waited for my husband to come home to put it together. When he finally got home and opened the box ... wait for it.... it was smashed :( Talk about a let down. The box must have gotten smashed during shipping - Thanks UPS!!! Amazon was awesome. I've never ordered anything this big but the return/exchange process was super easy and fast. Now for the bike - I've used it for a week straight and think its sturdy and well built. Great looking piece of equipment too! I use the Peloton App on my iPhone and absolutely love it. I feel comfortable getting crazy on the bike. I did take a star away because the seat is pretty uncomfortable AND that's with a gel seat cover over it! I will look into changing the seat. All in all great purchase and highly recommend.
First impression is good
January 28, 2017
My first impression is that this appears to be a sturdy bike. Good weight to it that should alleviate the wobbles while peddling. Super easy to put together although a 2nd person may be needed to help move /position the bike until the feet with wheels are put on. Bike was packaged well with styro-foam and several wood blocks to keep bike from damage during transit. Bit of advice when unpacking. With box in the proper upright position carefully use box cutter to cut around box at he bottom. Lift the box off the packaged bike. This allows easy access to the bike and parts without hassle. So far the only negative I found is the bike seat. Not very comfortable on the butt. Could use a little more cushioning. I hope I can find an upgrade that will fit the seat stem so I can replace it.Hopefully my first impression of the bike's sturdiness will hold up after continued use over the next few months. I will try to follow up with an update regarding it's quality. Until then I'm rating a 4 until I use for a while.
No bike lights or helmet needed....
December 30, 2016
This bike is a great combination of value and features. It is very heavy, smooth riding, and fairly comfortable. After deciding to bring my bad weather riding indoors, I wanted a bike that simulated road riding. After shopping bikes in the range of $1,000-$2,000, I decided to just try out an inexpensive bike to see if this type of riding would work at all for me.The primary features on this bike that match much higher priced bikes are the heavy flywheel, belt drive, and sturdy frame. For these, I would rate it 5 stars. However, there are a couple of irritations that cost Sunny Health a star. One, the handlebars are one setting short of what a 6 footer might need to be comfortable. If you are an experienced cyclist, you will be able to set the seat-to-pedal distance properly, but if you are more than 5' 10" (or so) the handlebar might be too low. I have it set at "STOP," and I am still leaning forward enough to place too much weight on my hands. While I have minimized the problem with handlebar padding to raise the level, it would be much better to have one higher setting on the bike handlebars. Two, is the lack of any electronic assistance, either by including or offering as accessories. There is another version of a Sunny Bike that includes an LCD panel for riding data. I would have gladly paid extra for an accessory that would connect to the bike. One other nuisance might affect people who share the bike. The adjustments are not quick, requiring complete removal of the knobs and replacement in a hole in the column, both for the seat and handlebars. If, like me, you are a lone rider, it is a very sturdy setup that will not slip in use. So 1 star up or 1 star down...depending. The friction adjustment is very easy to use and quickly changes the resistance by a leather pad, which is also very quiet. All said, I have been riding for several weeks and can say that this bike is very smooth and very quiet. To avoid boredom, I have placed a computer monitor equipped with a Roku Stick on the handlebars, which are shaped to make it an easy addition. I can view ride videos or TV programming easily.I would buy a Sunny Bike again, but perhaps a different model.
Good product

My wife and I purchased this bike 10 months ago.We were looking for a non-expensive bike to exercise 3 or 4 times a week. Mainly during the winter.Pros- Adjustable saddle. You can adjust the saddle higher or lower. The cool thing is that you can also adjust it closer/further to the handlebar. - Thanks to the notation/marks, I can easily revert the seat back to my position after my wife used the bike. - No tool needed, you have a handle that you need to pull to unlock it.- The handlebar is adjustable too.- There is a support to hold your flask/bottle for the long journey. If your bottle is too big, don’t be afraid to pull to make it wider.- Very comfortable and doesn’t feel or look cheap.- The design is nice; this doesn’t look ugly in the apartment.- The wheels at the front allow driving the bike from one spot to another.Cons- Per mentioned in multiple reviews when we bought it; there is a strident noise as soon as you start biking. This noise appeared a couple of months after we bought the bike. I honestly don’t care - I listen to music or watch a movie. People around may not think the same, though. It seems that the small piece of leather (or other - see my picture) rubbing against the wheel (to regulate the tension) is the reason behind that noise (centering it or giving it a nudge seems to fix this noise temporarily' … for a couple of minutes).- The screw maintaining the handlebar tends to get loose/unscrew. I screw it tight on regular basis “just in case” (well I am a bit paranoid with screws getting loose anyway).- The tension isn't responsive. You will need to get used to turning the knob generously (forgot to mention this but updated thanks to the comment below). We also purchased a rug (Supermats Heavy Duty P.V.C. Mat for Cardio- Fitness Products (2.5-Feet x 5-Feet)), this fits perfectly underneath.I would recommend this bike despite the noise (It makes me feel nostalgic of my old rusty bike when I was a kid).

didnt give five stars because bars dont move foward or back and with a 34in inseam a little to much forward lean of torso,i,ve had mine for 5+ years, paint alittle worn in some spots and the seat is starting to wear out,got booko miles on it,no sign of it falling apart.there is no spin bike under $200 on market as good as this one, period!i use chain lube on it since i use to race motorcycles and a well lubed chain is a happy chain, even if there is a little lube spattering.plan to take it to bike shop and get crank bearings repacked with fresh grease.if your strapped for cash this is the bike for you.no rear wheel thou so dont expect to go to far:)yuk
I found the size of the bike perfect for me
March 9, 2016
I bought this to use at my boyfriend's house because there wasn't a convenient way to exercise near him. I bought a subscription to Peloton and I've been using it about twice a week. Sure, it makes a little noise, that's normal. I found the size of the bike perfect for me. I'm 5 feet tall. I was worried about the wheel only being 30lbs because I'm used to the bike at the gym, but if you add enough resistance it's fine. My boyfriend put the whole thing together in about an hour by himself.
Thrilled!
February 13, 2015
I love this bike! It was delivered today and after my first 15 minutes on it, I was in love! I'm not an expert on spin bikes. I've only taken 1 class, which kicked my out of shape butt. For a beginner, this bike is more than adequate for my needs. It's quiet, sturdy. The handlebars adjust up and down. The seat adjusts up and down as well as forward and back. Plus adjustable resistance so I control the intensity of my workout! The only reason I give this 4 stars is due to the assembly instructions. With the tools provided, I was able to assemble this in just under an hour but at times I had to just look at it and figure it out. The instructions were just too....wordy.Will update after I've used it a couple of weeks!
Got off to a rough start but now all is good
July 3, 2014
I ordered this bike as a beginner in spin. It was fairly easy to put together (about an hour for me). When I started to ride, it made a very loud clunking noise which I could also feel as I rotated the pedals. The chain needed to be tightened; however no instructions come with this bike on how to do this or any other maintenance. You only get instructions on how to put it together. I emailed the seller, and they emailed back with some pictures on how to tighten the chain. Once that was done, bike was quiet and smooth. Overall, it seems very sturdy. Many say the seat is uncomfortable, which it is if you don't ride it routinely. If you get used to it it's fine, or you can purchase a seat cover. I've now used for a few weeks; for the price, you can't really beat it. Other bikes are $700 or $800, which is too high for a beginner I think (you just don't know how much you will use it).
Great Value, few quality concessions
November 3, 2013
Great price and options, but definitely some drawbacks. The Q-factor is pretty large (width between pedals), compared to how I have my road bike set-up I feel like my feet are really far apart. The plastic shroud on the chain drive is a little off so there is a rubbing noise when working out. I installed my own saddle as the one shipped is terrible. This was a challenge as the clamp is too wide for the rails on a quality saddle, it took some persuading to get it on, but is doable. The stem was welded about 2-3 degrees off to the right. It doesn't sound like much, but it is like ridding and continuously turning, I corrected this poor quality by shimming the plate and bolting it on.It is amazing how quiet it is compared to a road bike on a magnetic resistance trainer. The first day I was actually able to watch a movie on a ultraportable laptop using the built-in speakers, which are notoriously under powered.
Great Bike - Not so great shipping/packaging
March 29, 2013
I researched several bikes and kept coming back to this one. It seemed to have what I needed and wanted in an exercise bike at a reasonable price. I like riding my mountain bike but wanted something when I couldn't or didn't want to ride outside. The one think I noticed on multiple reviews was issues with shipping damage. I would stress right now not to put anything together until you have verified all parts are damage free. The box I contained actually looked in really good shape. I was very unhappy with the contents however because of the amount of cosmetic damage to various parts. I even had difficulty mating parts of the assembly. I would have given this bike 5 stars if not for the shipping issues. Great exercise bike that really imitates a normal bike and would be easy to put together if not for the damage. Moves around very easily and enough adjustments to adjust to anyone with a couple of turns of the knobs. You may want to buy a gel seat cover or change the seat if you do not ride often. If you are looking for a good bike value this is a good find.

Feels good, but noisy.
April 24, 2017
Easy assembly. So far it operates smoothly, but its noisy. The belt is quiet, but the resistance pad is noisy. I tested a Sunny Health and Fitness bike that had a felt pad over the resistance brake and it was very quiet. Much quieter than this one. There is no felt over this pad. It is more like the material found on traditional bike brake pads. I don't know why it's different than the ones with the felt. Maybe there are some benefits. But it is noisy.
it is a great indoor cycle for the price
November 30, 2016
Despite some damage to the plastic housing, it is a great indoor cycle for the price. The heavy flywheel provides a smooth ride and the bike feels very sturdy even when standing. The seat is a bit hard like most bikes but you could always buy a different seat or wear some bike shorts. The quality control could use some work but I did get for under $300.I only just recently obtained the bike but it is already making the thumping noise with each pedal stroke that some other people are getting. I will update this review once I attempt to fix it.
Affordable, Sturdy, and Simple
August 19, 2016
I bought this bike last year when I had to stop running because of a bum knee. I had seen the spin cycle classes on TV and thought that I give it a try at home, since sweating and breathing heavily in public isn't appealing to me. Anyway, this bike looked to be sturdy and affordable for my budget. I've been fairly happy with it. I don't use it all the time (I switch between walking on the treadmill, using the reclining bike, doing yoga and pilates, etc.) and I haven't had any problems with it.When I ride, the bike is very sturdy and quiet. I can stand on it and it is very stable. (I'm 5' 5" tall and hover around 125 pounds.) I find the adjustments on the seat and handlebars to make it comfortable for me. I had my husband help me set it up, since it comes in a box, disassembled. The only thing I don't like is the dial that is used to create the tension. It doesn't have specific settings, so I never really know what I'm riding at. I don't feel like I have consistency with the workout this way. When I ride along with the videos I watch, they all seem to be able to move up and down a specific number of levels, but I can't do that, so I'm always guessing. There also aren't any devices to track distance, time, calories or anything like that, which I guess is a trade-off for the cheap price. Also, I found a way to tighten my iPad to the handlebars with a headband because there isn't a holder for electronics, another drawback, I guess. If I had more money, I'd buy something with the bells and whistles, but as far as the bike is concerned for exercising, it works for me.Also, the bike seat is incredibly hard and painful! I replaced mine with a gel seat for comfort, an added expense.
Unstable.
April 14, 2016
Not sure if it's the bike quality or the fact that I have wood floors but when I cycle and move TOO much, it feels really unstable. The front moves from side to side like it's not screwed in right (but it's at it's tightest). I have wood floors so maybe the floor aren't even, but I bought a heavy duty mat to put the bike on, and that hasn't made it better. So, my guess is, the bike is just not good enough to handle the same type of choreography you can do on a more expensive bike that you would find at a studio.
Good bike, horrific packaging.
March 21, 2016
Well first off I received the package in the worst condition I have ever received any delivery, the box was broken, the bike frame was bent, dented, scratches, and scuffed. They did not include the hardware bag with necessary screws and Allen key, so I had to go to Home Depot to buy them. The bike itself is great, quiet, efficient, nice looking, very adjustable, works well for me (5'7 140 pounds) and my wife (5'4" 125). The seat is incredibly uncomfortable, but I'm sure I can get a gel slip cover. I like the bike a lot, but the condition of it upon delivery and missing hardware has left a bad taste in my mouth.
Solid spinner bike but has some issues...
February 16, 2015
Been using the bike for about a month now. As a man, I don't use the straps on the pedal because they won't fit a man so I use the other side of the pedal. The pedal straps are only large enough for a woman. The seat is horrible, so I replaced with a Cloud-9 cruiser seat. This bike is not made for shorter people, i.e. less than 5'4" and doesn't have enough adjustments for other people. I added a Cateye Velo 9 bike computer (used velcro to attach) so I would have some stats during the work-out. Overall, well-built bike but has some things that manufacturer needs to address.

High quality construction. Very heavy so you won't be moving it around. I wish the seat was larger, and that the handlebar rotated towards the rider (not just up and down).
Some difficulties
October 7, 2015
Nice bike(second one bc 1st on came damaged) but now after 3 weeks tension knob is making a horrible screeching sound, metal against metal. Contacted sunny for tech support and waiting for a response.
This is a perfectly good exercise bike for the price
August 12, 2014
This is a perfectly good exercise bike for the price. I wouldn't say that it's whisper quiet like advertised, but it's ok. The plastic chain guard was on mine in such a way that the chain rubbed on it as i peddled, so i had to wedge something in between the frame and the guard to push it up a bit. Fixed the problem. The seat is not very comfortable. The handebars are great and has a place to rest something such as a book or iPad. Easy to move around as it's got little wheels on the front.
Have been using every morning
April 3, 2013
I originally bought this for the style and because of the review that was left about the 'built in iPad holder'. Both my son and I use this bike and never without the iPad. It is truly a cool feature that's not even listed! (so thankful someone included it in the review). I get so much reading done in the morning while I am exercising on the bike because of the iPad. It also fits my Chromebook but it's hard to see the screen.I would have given it 5 stars since it's stylish, it was easy to put together (my 13 yr old son did it while I was cooking dinner) and the iPad thing is just awesome... BUTThere is one huge issue. The seat adjustment uses a knob (you can see it in the picture under the seat) that screws in. Well, the holes aren't aligned and the knob will not fit at all - no matter what we tried. So we have the metal rod in its place. Every time I move the bike the metal rod falls out and I'm always afraid it will fall out while I'm biking. So yeah it's a major issue so I took away 2 stars.Other than that, both my son and I use it all the time, I love the way it looks with the sleek retro design and again, the iPad feature is just perfect.
Good for the price but not great.
December 24, 2012
I know you get what you pay for so I can't fault this bike too much. My husband assembled it. He said it was easy. I wish the handle bars raised a bit higher so I won't slouch so much (lower back problems.) The gears give a good range of resistance like the bikes at the gym do. Nice water bottle holder. My number one complaint is that it is really loud ! I know the bikes at the gym sound just as loud but when I'm in my living room , I can't watch tv because I can't hear it! I will still use this bike because I already spent the money and I don't want to spend hundreds more on a better one, I will just be a good sport and throw on some headphones and my iPod instead of watching tv shows.

Busted
August 2, 2017
We love the way the bike rides- it is still rideable. But the box that it came in was busted with a big hole in it resulting in a part on the side of the bike being broke and unsightly, which everyone notices. I wrote an email back to the company and they never responded.
Friction pad does not work properly.
July 13, 2017
Bike seems sturdy for the price. However, the friction pad is completely unreliable. It jerks constantly and is not consistent. If I make a tiny adjustment but then go back, it's as if I turned the knob a whole turn. Applying some or no pressure while making adjustments makes no difference. I also notice that if I peddle faster without an adjustment, it will seem to let go of the wheel and less friction will be applied. This issue makes the bike completely unreliable for a workout. I have had the bike for two days.
Loved this bike for a few months
May 20, 2017
Loved this bike for a few months, then the left toe cage broke off. Sunny replaced it and sent one for the right side as well. A few months later, the belt shredded and fell off. While waiting for a response as to whether Sunny will replace the belt, we have ordered another bike-a different brand found in gyms. After getting only 6 months use for $350, I cannot recommend the Sunny Health & Fitness Belt Drive Indoor Cycling Bike.
It has some issues....
February 10, 2017
I purchased this bike after looking at many bikes over a period of time. The majority of the reviews have been positive so that is mainly why I bought it along with the decent price and the heavy flywheel. The bike arrived in a box that was pretty torn. The Styrofoam around the bike was mostly in pieces. I was somewhat concerned but hoped for the best. The bike is very heavy. My husband helped me carry the main frame upstairs. I was able to put the bike together fairly easily. Once I got to the part where you insert the handlebar I had an issue. The 'bushing' that had been there before was pushed down in the handlebar stem and was broken. I had to contact Sunny and get a replacement piece. I had to wait several days to get it. It was difficult to pull the broken piece out as it was stuck in there with something sticky but finally got it out with a pair of pliers. Once I got the new bushing inserted the rest of the assembly was fairly easy. My husband had to tighten the seat since it was very hard to get it tight enough without it rocking. BTW, I purchased this gel pad seat Zacro Gel Bike Seat - BS031 Extra Soft Gel Bicycle Seat - Bike Saddle Cushion with Water&Dust Resistant Cover (Black) . I knew with the pricing of this bike that the seat would be lousy so if you buy this bike then either replace the entire seat or get a good gel pad seat.I have ridden the bike several times. The ride is smooth for the most part. However, I have had periodic'knocking' as some other reviewers have noted. You can feel it under the left pedal on my bike. It's not with every ride and it only seems to happen while standing during the ride. Unless it becomes persistent I will likely not address this until it becomes an ongoing problem.I would not say that this bike has the same sturdiness as the bikes at my gym. We have Techno-gym bikes and this bike isn't in the same class. However, for a home bike with only one or two riders this bike should work okay. I will give it 2 stars for now based on the issues I had with the bike and since I don't know if the knocking will become a problem. It was extremely disappointing to pay this much money and have the bike arrive broken. I will update this review after I have had the bike for awhile and see how reliable it really is.Pros:Heavy FlywheelPriceCons:Quality control issuesSeat

Started making a clicking noise about the fourth day...contacted the manufacture and they said someone would contact me within 24 hours...that was 24 days ago. It works but the noise is irritating. I just use for exercise...I would not recommend it for anyone training seriously. Get a Schwinn
Packaging doesn't keep bike from damage
May 13, 2016
Poor packaging, should have heeded the reviews . The plastic shield at pedals broken in pieces. I asked for a part to fix it, simple piece of plastic held in by a few screws. Made me return the whole thing. Difficult repacking because impossible to keep styrofoam and all cardboard intact . Warning!!! Unpack outside and don't destroy packaging opening it up... I'll try once more try , hoping it comes unbroken!!!!

Quite a few issues, very uncomfortable workout
May 31, 2017
While this indoor bike was easy to assemble, I would return it if it wasn't such a hassle to disassemble and box up. The issues I have with it are that 1) the seat is so uncomforable that it makes your workout painful. I purchased a padded bike seat cover, but it didn't fit around the large seat, and didn't help. 2) I'm 5'3" and at the bike's shortest settings, I still have to stretch my arms uncomfortably to reach the handles. My husband is 6'2" at the opposite side of the spectrum, and also said this bike was terribly uncomfortable 3) The pedals are a pain to get your foot into, and have spikes on them to hold your shoe in place, so you cannot ride barefoot. 4) (and this is a personal issue) but I wish I purchased a bike that tells you what tension you choose so I can set the correct intensity for HIIT workouts. Overall, I regret this purchase and will probably sell it on LetGo and purchase a better one.
Right Pedal Broke ! It is too Weak.
January 24, 2017
After using it for about 2 moths the right pedal broke. I need a replacement !
Jury is out, but not happy so far.....
December 27, 2016
To be fair, I haven't had the opportunity to ride the bike much because 20 days after delivery, I believe it may finally be functional. The bike was fairly easy to assemble. If you can follow the pictures in an IKEA manual, you can build this bike no problem. However, on the final step, I had a little trouble getting the right pedal to thread onto the crank. I thought I had managed to get it on, but 15 minutes into my first ride (which I was enjoying), the right pedal flew off and I couldn't get it back on.I emailed Sunny Health customer service and they responded quickly, within 24hrs. They were apologetic and immediately mailed me a new right crank. As in, they only sent me a crank. No instructions on how to install it (this came pre-installed when the bike was delivered) and no instructions. Ok, fine. So I found they have a youtube channel with repair videos, which is where I learned that I needed a socket wrench (which I didn't own) and a special tool- a park tool. So again, I emailed customer service. Again, I got an apologetic email and they immediately emailed me the tool. Again, just an envelope with the tool- no instructions. My crank was harder to remove than the bike in the YouTube video, so there were a lot of #%*& bombs flying for a while. I finally managed to get it installed.I haven't had a chance to ride it yet, but I'm so annoyed that it's taken almost 3 weeks, multiple correspondences (albeit positive) with customer service, and an investment in a new set of socket wrenches to have a (hopefully) functional bike. Admittedly, this bike is reasonable in price, but does that mean I have to learn bike repair before I can use it?? I would have sent it back if I could, but I had gotten rid of the packaging already. So far, I've burned calories due to frustration and trying to unscrew really stubborn bolts. Here's hoping things get better from here. Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B1001S Indoor Cycling Bike, Silver
What a let down. Was a five star until part failure
April 26, 2014
Loved the bike, but four months in the right crank is totally stripped out. Finally got to the company and got the part. Looked like everything was going great. Asked for replacement instructions. Received them and learned I needed a crank tool. Any guess how many are out there with no guide as to how to select the right one. Really disappointed, but you might be lucky and not get a bad crank.
Interesting Bike
April 10, 2013
This bike was awesome for about a month, then it started to get very loud. It started to make a very loud clicking/knocking sound when in use. At first it was tolerable but now it's extremely annoying and is only getting worse. I've adjusted every bolt on the thing, tightening them and loosening them. No configuration seems to work. I'm thinking of taking it to a local bike shop to have them adjust/fix it. I gave it two stars because it is a nice looking bike and easy to assemble. I just think i got a lemon.
Quickly started making noises
March 4, 2013
It came out of the box with something loose in the flywheel that I can't get out and makes noise as it spins, and then within hours of use it developed a clunking sound on every rotation of the pedals. So the whole thing is kind of noisy and annoying. Afraid it's going to break. Also the seat was real uncomfortable. Otherwise it functions as a cheap exercise bike. Get what you pay for I guess but I wish I had at least gone with the comparable Schwinn just for the brand name.

Aggravation and frustration!
August 7, 2017
Is anyone else as frustrated as I am with this bike? Only used it once and now it makes a horrible very loud banging noise. The banging is so loud I can hear it over my music. Took it apart because another customer had listed a fix for this problem. Tried working on it for 2 hours and still as bad as before. All I want to do is get my spinning workout and all I got is frustration and aggravation. I'll now need to find and pay for someone to come out and service this new bike that shouldn't need any service. Don't waste your money with this company

Belt slipping after 3 weeks
January 12, 2017
I love the bike, it is solid; however, the belt is slipping after 3 weeks and there is no maintenance documentation nor have I found anything on the internet to fix this problem. Since I am sure this has happened before, the company has failed to provide support of their product.
So this bike seems sturdy and functions really well for the price
April 12, 2016
So this bike seems sturdy and functions really well for the price. But! When you put on few hours on (say about 15-20 hours), the bike starts to produce a metal clanking noise on each rotation. I tried using silicone spray and even interacted with the customer correspondence team of the seller but could not fix it. I was worried that if the noise won't go away even after 30-day return policy then it is an exercise in futility so I chose to return it. By the way, the exercise the customer interaction team wants you to go through require some maneuvering so if you are not adept at tools etc, don't even think about this bike. The bike itself seems nice and has some desirable features but the metal noise coming out hub area is really annoying and gives impression that there is something seriously wrong with the workmanship of this product.I would recommend not buying this or any such product on Amazon as the shipping such big product is an monumental hassle. Get it from Walmart or Target with their maintenance plans which fix the bike along with replacing a bad product without you paying for the shipping.
this piece of junk is advertised as a bike
March 28, 2016
This bike is a piece of junk. I have had it 6 months and it is already broken. First it started making a grating sound. Because the flywheel is grinding into the plastic cover and now the belt won't stay on. I have repaired twice and the fix doesn't last for more than a few minutes. Don't waste your money.
THIS BIKE WAS HORRIBLE
February 2, 2016
This bike was horrible. Two weeks after I purchased the bike the area around the flywheel started making a knocking noise that continued as long as you were pedaling it. I tried lubricating the area around the axel, but knocking continued and never got better. While exercising the knocking was so loud. I had to take it back. I see so many reviews just like mine, and these bikes are being sold like this. SUNNY FIX THE PROBLEM OR ELSE STOP SELLING IT.

Seat Wobbles and we all fall down!
July 18, 2017
The seat will not stay on. It wobbles back and forth and side to side. The bike would otherwise be very useful and ride-able but the seat literally doesn't work at all. I have to duct tape it and stuff a towel underneath to somewhat ride it. I would love to send the bike back but we already put it together. DO NOT BUY THIS!! If I could give less than one star I would.

October 2, 2016
The left pedal on this bike bended down slightly after only about three months of use. I would always get on the bike on the left side, so I'm guessing it wasn't strong enough to support my entire body weight. Now when I try to pedal the metal crunches and it's difficult to complete a smooth rotation. I'm only 140lbs, and I was only using the bike a couple of times a week. I was expecting the product to be sturdier.
Defective product with missing parts (seller Fitness Avenue)
June 13, 2014
I was very excited to receive this bike and started putting it together right away. I first noticed that it was missing one of the bolts and washers and went to Home Depot to get a substitute. I then realized that the rubber interior of the frame where the handlebar goes in was broken with the piece stuck inside at the bottom. The paint in that area was also chipped. I paid for a new, undamaged product, and yet what I received was completely unacceptable. I contacted the seller (Fitness Avenue) and they informed me that this is simply a matter of replacing the busing inside and that they can send me a new piece. How am I supposed to replace it when I can't get the old broken piece out? They said that I had the option of returning it but that I would be responsible for shipping costs. Considering the bike weighs 80 lbs, this would eat into a good portion of my refund. I'll post pics of the damage here. I'll update this review if I get a satisfactory resolution, but so far I am one very unhappy customer. [UPDATE: Seller issued refund. Ordering the bike from a different store and will update my review of this bike once I actually have a working one that I can try out. SECOND UPDATE: Got the bike from a store and all the parts were brand new and fit together well. The bike itself is great though the seat can get really uncomfortable and doesn't always lock into place (twists side to side sometimes). Overall very happy with the bike, just not my experience buying from the Amazon third-party seller. Though, now that I know how much I use the bike, I kind of wish I'd paid more for the better Sunny version with the slightly heavier flywheel.]
Defective
May 19, 2014
The bike was pretty easy to put together even though the instructions are very vague. The seat to the bike is not stable and is made of cheap metal the bends easily. The threading on the pedals was defective as well so the pedals do not screw in at all. What a pain this is going to be a nightmare to return because it is so big. It is not worth the risk to purchase this because it is cheaply made
