Great purchase for rice lovers!
July 2, 2017
This is a dandy little rice cooker! ❤ It's size is perfect for a small space in the cabinet and /or on the counter top. Lightweight and easy to use this product is simply convenient all the way around. The container and lid is dishwasher safe. I would recommend it highly! ❤
I love this little thing!
June 21, 2016
I love this little thing! I cook rice in it nearly every day but haven't tried anything else. There were several comments in other reviews that it bubbled over when making rice. Resolve this by using the steamer attachment - put it on so that it's sitting atop the cooker as you would if you were steaming something. The bubbles then just come up to the bottom of the steamer attachment and stay within. Yes that means there's one more item to clean - but just stick it in your dishwasher.... Everything goes in the dishwasher (top shelf) except the electric appliance its'elf. This is a perfect size for me - I cook for two.
This little steamer is perfect for the two of us
April 23, 2016
This little steamer is perfect for the two of us. The first cooked rice came out perfect. It gets a little messy around the steam vent and it tendsto spit out the "ricey" water but the rice was great. Can't wait to try putting vegetables in steamer basket while cook rice.
8 years and still going strong.

Best rice cooker around. I've had this same rice cooker for 8 years, and never had a single problem, despite hundreds of uses (I've honestly used this rice cooker at LEAST once a week since I got it). Nothing has malfunctioned or needed to be fixed at all. Even the non-stick basin is just like new, and I wash it in the dish washer every time I use it. I love it so much I just got my sister an identical one for Christmas. Simple one button use makes any recipe a breeze. Makes delicious rice, noodles, steamed veggies, and my favorite, mac n cheese. All from scratch, in one pot, in just minutes, and so easy.
Excellent rice cooker -- I am very pleased with it.
October 28, 2014
This rice cooker is excellent. For my first dinner -- I cooked rice, broccoli, salmon, and two eggs. I put one egg directly in with the rice, and I placed the second egg in the steamer with the broccoli. Since I filled the steamer basket up with broccoli & an egg, I only had room for a very tiny tiny piece of salmon but I put that in the steamer basket too. As for the rice, I used two cups (measured with the cup that came with the rice cooker), and I filled it up with water to the line that read 2 inside the rice cooker. I must say, I am really impressed with this rice cooker. My dinner turned out great, and it was ready in about 21 minutes flat. Now I have to think of other things that I can cook with it. As for the clean up, it was very easy. I rinsed everything in warm water, and then washed everything in hot soapy water. As a side note, I had NO ISSUES with boil over or anything like that, but I did use the steamer. And finally, my two eggs were 'steam boiled' perfectly. I am very pleased with my purchase, and the trusted Cuisinart name. KennyG in Seattle
Attractive and does the job!

Tried it out 30 minutes after it arrived and it worked great and cooked the long grain, wild rice I made perfectly. I added a little olive oil and had no splattering as others seem to have reported. It is a quality rice cooker and looks great too. Perfect size for me. Also, people have complained after the tefflon coating scrapping off. My brother has had this exact model for over 3 years and hasn't had a bit of problems with the non-stick coating becoming scratched. He does however use only the spoon that came with the unit when stirring the rice or taking it out of the cooker. NEVER USE METAL utensils on these types of surfaces because it can, and will eventually, scratch it and then it will peal off. Also wash it in the kitchen sink instead of a dishwasher. Very easy to do especially since nothing really sticks to it so hot, soapy water and a sponge or dish rag will clean it in seconds. I will be using this probably 2 times a week since I love all types of rice and am trying to eat healthier. Good luck in your purchase of this item and I don't think you'll be sorry!

I have used it for rice and thought it was okay but my Zojirushi is better. Today I used it to steam frozen tomales
July 30, 2016
I have had this rice cooker for three years now but used it to steam using the steamer insert for the first time today. I originally purchased this cooker to use with a PID controller for sous vide, which works perfectly. I have used it for rice and thought it was okay but my Zojirushi is better. Today I used it to steam frozen tomales...perfect! I didn't have to thaw them. I put water in the bowl, left the tomales in the husk and clicked "Cook". In about 35 minutes the tomales were ready.
Works excellently. No complaints. Very pleased.

We've had this rice cooker for going on a year. It works perfectly every time. Of course, one has to measure the rice and water correctly, and remember, a Japanese Go, that the cooker comes with, is not a US measuring cup in size. The non-stick is still in fine condition. Of course, we clean only with a sponge to keep it in good condition. I hope it keeps working for many years to come.
Good size, simple to use and wash
February 1, 2016
Wish the plug disconnected but good size for my apartment kitchen and cabinets. Love the grey pot! Won't show discoloration when cooking healthy black rice (purple stains on cookware). Don't have the overcook issue that others did. Could be from cooking less than 2 cups of rice. Hope it lasts.
Multi Cooker
July 18, 2015
I love this rice cooker! I was so nervous to purchase it due to some of the previous reviews. I am glad I went ahead and purchased because it works wonders. I have used this about 7 times with a variety of foods from rice to baked beans, spaghetti and meatballs and even scrambled eggs. I have not had any problems with it and it actually cooks a lot at one time. It usually cooks enough for 4 adults and have leftovers. The steam tray is perfect for steaming veggies or even chicken breast. I also love that it is a non stick pan so clean up is a breeze. I will be purchasing another one very soon.
Small on the outside, bigger on the inside
June 15, 2015
I like this because it is simple. I had an oversized one which took up way too much space and had a silly hinged lid which quickly broke. It also had a weird steam vent which constantly clogged and was a pain to clean. This lid is very simple, like a pan lid with one little hole for a vent. EZ-PZ. Don't pay any attention to the cup size that they say it holds. Their included cup is not a full cup. However, that's just fine because it still makes plenty of rice for most people's needs. It has a keep warm function, too, but I think the rice is better if you unplug the rice after it's cooked rather than warm it.
A rice cooker for a small family
June 7, 2014
This rice cooker was just the right size and price for me. It has a simple two-position cook/keep warm front panel switch, an inner light aluminum pot, a glass cover, a steam basket, and a 1-cup measuring cup. It's great for cooking plain white rice, and getting it just right and fluffy. This is not suitable for cooking packaged rice mixes such as Knorr's rice sides, which are best cooked in a regular pot, following the packet directions. Also, I found that brown rice, which takes more water to cook, does not do well in this rice cooker (water boiled over!). However, regular white rice which requires a 2:1 by volume mix of water to rice does very well.Remember, you turn off the cooker by unplugging it. After the rice is cooked it automatically switched to the "warmer" setting, but does not switch itself off. Empty the inner bowl soon after it goes to warm, or it continues to cook and absorb water, and may become dry and sticky.

Does the job
August 20, 2017
This cookier does a good job of preparing the rice. I noted the comments about the rice burning, so we do not leave it in the cooker very long after the cooking operation. This seems to take care of that. Also, the rice was less sticky if we rinsed it with hot water before putting it in the cooker. I would recommend this item.

I like this rice steamer
January 30, 2017
I like this rice steamer, but don't use the glass lid to cook the rice, use the metal steamer lid! When I used the glass lid, the hot steam and water from cooking the rice boiled over and made a huge mess on my counter! When I used the metal steamer lid this didn't happen. I believe several other people who reviewed this steamer said the same thing.
Satisfied
January 8, 2017
Though many are unsatisfied with this product, it suits my needs. To prevent overflow, like others, I place the stream basket on top. Compact and stylish. It did overcook my broccoli with brown rice, but brown rice seems to take longer than white rice. Cooks quickly too. Ended up with under cooked sweet yams, but kind of expected that. Had to try though, lol. I Dill really like the product, but might not use the steamer as much... still messing around with it.
Possibly the best investment for quick at home dinners
May 13, 2013
My girlfriend and I use this on a daily basis since purchase. It is perfect for serving 2-4 (4 Cup Rice Cooker). We also purchased TexMati Rice also available on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EH4XYI/ref=oh_details_o02_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1We don't have to stir the rice and we also use the included basket to cook veggies. No need for setting timers or watching your food closely.... simply press the button down and check back when convenient for you, when your rice completes it will be stored at ready to eat temp.Tips for using and cooking quick rice/veggies:Open lid and spray down with cooking sprayadd rice/water/butterinsert additional steaming colanderadd canned veggies/fresh veggies/seafood etc of choiceadd the lid to the toppress the buttonwait until unit switches from cook to warm.I only took off one star because the design of the colander could have been a bit better.. they could have added a handle or something to make it easier to dismount keep hot pads handy because obviously when it's been steaming for a few minutes it will be hot.

good for price
May 7, 2016
Works well, size fits my needs but beware they use a 5 oz measuring cup so order a larger size pot if you make rice for several people. When it boils it sometimes does spew bubbling foam/water from vent but you lift the lid to defuse heat.
Time saver
April 17, 2016
I thought, do I really need a rice cooker. I guess it is not a necessity but at this price, it is worth the time that it saves. It is really only suitable for white rice. It says that there are different markings for brown or other rice but this particular model actually does not have those markings so you have to just sort of guess (a messy process that I have yet to perfect.)
Trial and error
March 18, 2016
I love how the rice cooks in this cooker and that it didn't cost an arm and a leg. The directions however are very unclear in regards to the measurements of rice and water. We use the same measurements we do when cooking on the stove 1 cup of rice to 1 cup of water. We had to do trial and error until we found what worked. But now we use it all the time!
Only 4 stars because.....
November 16, 2015
I was very happy to receive this product and try cooking my first batch of rice. The directions did not give enough information about ratio of water to rice. So, the two times I tried, the rice was not completely cooked or cooked to much. I was going to return the above product, but I read a review below that suggested 2-1 ratio. I will try that today. Then, if my Japanese rice is not cooked correctly, I will contact the seller and Black and Decker, return it and buy a different brand, like Cuisinart.
I like this rice machine but it has a few drawbacks
November 7, 2014
I like this rice machine but it has a few drawbacks. For one, if you add the recommended amount of water to rice ratio, the water bubbles out the top and the rice is mushy. This was easily corrected by simply using less water, but I found it frustrating that the manufacturer's instructions were inaccurate. Also, if you don't time the preparation correctly and allow your rice to sit for more than 30 minutes on the keep warm setting, it will become hard. I haven't found a solution for that issue yet.
Good item...price is comprable to discount stores but I didn't want to shop.
August 22, 2014
I gave it a 4 because of the 14 cup size. I am not getting 14 cups of cooked rice out of this more like 10 . I don't know what size cup they are using for measurement but otherwise it is fine. You do need to follow the directions initially as they do not use standard size cups for measurement and get a feel for the water to rice ratio. All rice is not equal. I buy 25 lb bags for my dogs and find some needs a little more or less water than the previous bag and of course if you are using brown vs white and basmati vs jasmine. I have had no problems after the first batch with foaming over or making a mess.

September 6, 2017
Makes great rice BUT you have to basically cook it in the sink because the water boils right up and over the sides of the cooker, down the sides and into the counter top....leaving a right bloody mess! Bad design by cuisanart on this one. It does make great rice though so I'll keep cooking in my sink!

This thing cooks too hot for rice. It's fine for steaming other foods like vegetables. water splatters everywhere because it's boiling so hard and the rice on the bottom is burnt. Soggy sloppy rice like int he Army. I can make way better rice in a pan.

July 24, 2015
This is one of the messiest rice cookers I've owned! It makes rice like its suppose to but for some reason the lid design allows a lot of steam to bubble out and all over the appliance. It works like any basic twenty dollar rice cooker. There is nothing about the functionality of it that deserves a higher price. Buy it on sale, and love it's drooly dysfunction.
The cord doesn't retract like the old one!
May 16, 2015
We bought this to replace our 10 year old model, which works fine, but the bowl lining had scraped off, and the lid handle had irreparably fallen off. The new one is, well, shiny and new - but the major downside is that the cord is no longer retractable! This was a great feature of our earlier model, and one of the things I loved the best - no dangling cord to deal with when it was stored. Now, I think we'll use the bowl and lid from the new one, and the body of the old one. A bit of a waste.
I like very much the style and size
February 23, 2015
I like very much the style and size. It is small enough for my small space and to feed just 2 people. The style is great and functional - but it doesn't do its main job: to make good rice. It has just an on and off button which switches over to warm when it senses the rice is cooked. However, with brown rice it isn't cooked enough when it turns to warm. Instructions say to leave it on warm for 2 more hours to complete cooking! Really? So I tried it with white rice and it does better but the rice wasn't cooked as well or taste as good as I would expect from a Cuisinart.
Not worth $50
January 15, 2013
Is this a bad product, no. It does exactly what it say it will do. However less expensive rice cookers and steamers that do exactly the same thing are available. It boils the rice and steams what ever food is in the steamer pot above. The stemer pot is light weight and somewhat flimsy. I was attempting to check the food that was steaming and the slightest touch knocks the steamer pot off balance.Another reviewer stated it cooks sticky rice wonderfully, but I did not find that to be the case, so it may be I don't know how to cook the rice except in an actual steamer. It has a warmer to keep the food warm until iam ready for it. I can also cook other foods that require boiling in it.It also much nicer looking then my current cooker and has taken its place on the appliance shelf. Although, I'm going to keep old faithful.

Good for the price
December 20, 2015
I have a 3 cup cooker, but needed a larger one. As many mentioned, these rice cookers work well for their price with 2 issues: 1) they always make less rice than they claim. My 3 cup cooker can make max 1.5 cups. I have not tried the max for this one, but it won't be more than 4 cups. 2) rice can get stuck to the bottom if you leave it on warm. I always manually turn it off even before it switches to warm and unplug it. If you do that, you will get nice quality rice.
Utilitarian good - serves its purpose
December 11, 2015
Cooks rice well...the only annoyance is that the steam splashes all over the place. The lid is definitely not heavy enough and can easily be displaced by the steam build up when rice is cooking. But, this was cheap and does it's job - just need to place the product somewhere you won't mind getting some water splashes that can easily be wiped off with a wet wipe.
Not a great product overall
October 15, 2015
The rice will stick to the bottom. When cooking, the starched water will come out of the lid. The rice almost always will come out very moist. Not a great product overall. We are planning to get another one, maybe a Aroma or something like that.
?? Huh?
January 5, 2015
Thought it would have a 'brown rice setting' -- it's actually in the instructions that there is a button somewhere. We weren't able to find the 'button'. I think it's imaginary. Anyway, it works. Pleased about that. :) We are keeping it and using it.

Not a brown rice cooker !

We are habitual brown rice eaters. We'd read that this product worked for brown rice. The manual includes brown rice recipes. We follow the manual. January 24, 2017
When cooking the rice, even a small amount 2 cups of dry rice, there is a ton of splattering of liquid all around the rim and it spills over the sides of the pot. The rice tastes good but it makes a huge mess. Not satisfied with this product.

... almost every time. Follow instructions to a "T" and it still boils over. We've used it several times, with different kinds of rice, and while the rice is well-cooked, all but once it boiled over and created a mess on the counter. This isn't rocket science. Cuisinart should be able to make a device that cooks rice without creating a mess. Find another make.
messy rice cooker
September 7, 2010
I purchased this rice cooker about two months ago and am disappointed.I read and followed all instructions and still had trouble. It does a wonderful job cooking the rice and the end result is good, however, it splashes sticky rice water all over. I even read the other reviews that said to spray non-stick cooking spray on the pot before turning on -doesn't help. Also, I ran the cooker with different amounts of rice and water. One cup all the up to four cups. Four cups really make a mess. I did not rate it one star because of the design and overall appearance of the unit, which in my opinion are stylish and modern. I confess, this , along with the brand were the reasons I purchased this rice cooker. Go with a top rated version with a locking lid and save your money. Wish I would have!

Easier to cook rice on the stove top
December 20, 2016
This is a budget rice cooker I would only recommend to people who don't have a stove. If you follow the directions on the box, you will end up with a layer of rice burnt to the bottom of the rice cooker. This device is sitting in my closet while I use my stove top to cook my rice.

Cooked rice well...non-stick coating chipping after 6 months
June 27, 2014
I decided to give this very inexpensive rice cooker a shot. One thing that I noticed was that there was this snapping sound while the rice was being cooked. It sounded like the metal was expanding. I never had this happen before, but it didn't seem to affect performance. We babied this rice cooker, making sure no utensils touched the non-stick coating other than the provided plastic spoon. After using the rice cooker for about 6 months (using it approximately once a week), we're starting to see chips in the non-stick coating. The rice cooker cooked rice well. We never had any issues with burning the rice on the bottom. However, it's hard to give a higher star rating because I believe the non-stick coating should have lasted much longer than 6 months. That was quite disappointing.
Smaller than I thought it was.
March 20, 2013
I use 2 cups of rice and 4 cups of water and that is the max it will cook . I think it is misleading to call it a 14 cup rice cooker, I have no idea why they call it a 14 cup cooker. If you cook even one grain of rice more it bubbles over and makes a mess to clean up.

Mess maker
May 20, 2016
Despite glowing reviews, I offer a contrarian view .... It boils over and makes a huge mess, which is precisely what we hoped to avoid when we bought a rice cooker. Our water is soft, so I tried bottled water. No effect. I thoroughly washed the rice before cooking it. No effect. Followed the directions to the letter. No effect. My advice: my the largest size even if you're only cooking 1 cup of rice. Perhaps the extra head space will make a difference.
Boils over and makes a huge mess!
January 18, 2016
Great looking but poorly performing product. It boils over when cooking even half a cup of rice and makes a huge mess everywhere. I've, unfortunately only after opening and using the product, seen the other reviews that suggest using the steam basket to alleviate this problem. I'll try that, but I still don't see why I should have to. The whole idea of purchasing this product was to have a smaller, better looking rice cooker in our kitchen. Now I need to have this steam bucket handy as well? Undue hassle. Do better Cuisinart! Very unhappy.
Would I recommend this product
December 30, 2015
Worked well when it did work. Did not last 6months. It gave up the ghost in October 2015. I used it for steaming veggies twice a day and rice at least once a day. Would I purchase this product again?? Yes but not from this supplier. Would I recommend this product? Yes. Maybe mine was defected. I gave my daughter one of these that I have been using for over a year. Her's still works, so as I said maybe what I was sent was defected but I will not take the chance to purchase another one from this seller. But that's just my two cents. It really is a very compacted device.

This cooker was great for the money, but I've had it 11 months and it stopped working. No lights or heat. It's like the power isn't getting through the cord. A rice cooker should last longer than a year. As I've looked at other reviews this seems to be common with this item.

July 7, 2015
I purchased this rice cooker and used it twice before it stopped working completely. Will no longer turn on. It never moved off of its spot on the counter and was unplugged when not in use. To it's credit, it worked pretty well for a $20 rice cooker when it was functional. Unfortunately without the box I am unable to return this. Spend some extra money and save yourself the hassle of getting stuck with a broken rice cooker.

It arrived perfect. We did not have to use this for 2 weeks. It stopped working after 1st minute it started. User Overview
  • Problem with sizes

According to your review, the Cuisinart is 366 inches by 720 inches. That's not even going to fit in my driveway, much less my kitchen.
