Five Star Reviews: | 88% Very rugged, somewhat heavy, just the right shape and length August 29, 2017 Wow! These are heavy. They appear to be black powder-coat finish (I could be wrong) and durable as heck. The weight is not a problem, they're not That heavy, but compared to the wooden and plastic units I have used, I expect these shoehorns will outlast me.I've had wooden ones chip, plastic ones crack, but these - these you might be able to run over one with a car and it wouldn't be the worse for wear. (I haven't tried it.)If you use long shoehorns and toss them across the room or onto the bed when done putting on your shoes, I wouldn't try it with these without aiming carefully to avoid breaking something.I am Very Pleased with these (I bought two) and would recommend them to anyone who is looking for durability. A lifetime device January 17, 2017 Lavishing praise upon something as mundane as a shoehorn feels ridiculous, but the truth is that when you find an item that improves your life and requires not a single thought about it after its purchase, it's very freeing. My husband likes to use a shoehorn so he doesn't smush the back of his fancy dress shoes every morning when he goes to work. I was replacing his shoe horns every 6 months, because he's really rough (gr). He had a plastic one that broke, so I got a metal one. Whoops, the metal one has a handle that pops off all the time and I'm constantly gluing it back together. It's a semi-frequent frustration to deal with, and it's really not something I care to expend mental energy on. And then this shoe horn came into my life. It's long enough that my 6'4" husband doesn't have to bend down to put on his shoes. It is made of only one piece, so there's nothing to break off. It's super sturdy, so it won't be bending or warping. Done. Keep it by the door and never have to think about a shoe horn again. We will probably pass this thing down for generations, it's that sturdy. The downside: it's kinda heavy, so a person with bad arthritis might not be able to use it. However, it's great as impromptu home defense, if needed. Very sturdy shoehorn. GREAT FOR REMOVING COMPRESSION SOCKS. March 29, 2016 I purchased a second one to have available at our "snow-bird" home. After having broken a few plastic shoe horns, this steel one allows me to be as forceful as needed.BTW, this shoehorn works great for peeling off compression socks. Just roll the socks down a few inches, insert the spoon end down the inside all the way to the heel, and apply leverage. Normally, the socks will slide right off the feet. Good Product October 21, 2015 Long enough for a 6'1" person to use easily. Well constructed and not thin nor flimsy so using on boots should not be a problem. A little short of the thickness of a nickle. Perfect April 16, 2015 It's a rare thing for me to write a review; even more so for a seemingly prosaic item like a shoe horn. In it's class, however, this is a perfect product, the proverbial "one-hoss shay". I like long shoe horns, to help with boots and to minimize stooping. I've had many, over time, made of wood and plastic, that eventually broke, had to be repaired and, ultimately, to be replaced. I saw this in Amazon and was concerned that a 31.5 inch steal shoe horn might be excessive, like a bullet-proof dog collar or a lifetime supply of fish food (I have neither a dog nor a fish). Such was not the case, however; the length is exactly right, and the thickness of the steel is such that I am certain I will never bend it, without it being too heavy. While I realize such a discourse on a shoe horn may seem frivolous, I actually marvel every time I use it at how perfectly it suits the task for which it was designed. If you have every thought you might, even occasionally, need such an item, buy it. This product will enrich your life especially if you have health issues March 5, 2015 Pros:➢ Sturdy.➢ Perfect length.➢ Don’t have to bend over to put on shoes.➢ Great for folks with a bad back or other health issues.Cons:➢ Makes me feel lazy.Personal Experience with Product:I bought this product for one simple reason. I’m lazy. I’m not in bad shape or anything I just hate bending over. I figured it was the greatest invention since bacon cheeseburgers. And I told all my friends about it. Slipping on shoes was as easy as flipping the channels on a remote control. Then I realized it was a little too easy. My heart filled with shame. I was embarrassed to slip my shoes on in front of my wife, thinking she'd internally condemn my laziness. Then a friend of ours slipped on some ice and hurt himself. He’s an older gentleman with a bad back and neuropathy. I gave the shoehorn to him. He loves it! It’s helping him so much. Bottom line: If you have health problems that make it difficult to bend over: Get. This. Shoehorn. It’s built to last. It will make your life so much easier. | 72% BETTER THAN EXPECTED September 1, 2017 THESE are great! Stronger than I thought and stronger than they look. I bought two 5-pacs for our house and we use them for our dress shoes and our golf shoes. We keep a couple in each car for travel, too. These are a great buy and the extra length is very helpful. Looking for shoe horns? Then be sure to try these. perfect for sitting May 24, 2017 It's perfect! I bought this guy to be at my desk because I don't really like wearing shoes. As soon as I sit down at my desk, I take off my shoes. But if I want to get up for something and shove my shoes back on, it stretches out my socks. This is the perfect middle ground. It's long enough for a sitting position and short enough that it's not really in the way or awkward. Yay! ... they have trouble slipping their feet into their shoes easily and I knew this would help August 28, 2016 I purchased these for my mom and my daughter as they have trouble slipping their feet into their shoes easily and I knew this would help. They both liked them and said that they helped and served their purpose. Nothing spectacular to report because there really isn't anything particularly exciting about a shoe horn, but these seem to be well made and are comfortable to use. And they worked as they should. Looking forward to getting lots of use out of them. Thanks for a good product! this one is great! At first I wanted to buy a metal ... June 15, 2016 Wearing a suit and dress shoes almost every day makes having a shoe horn an essential addition to your wardrobe. That being said, this one is great! At first I wanted to buy a metal one because of the countless plastic ones I have bought over the years has broken within weeks or months. So I'll admit I was a wee bit weary about buying this one. Aft reading some other reviews, I thought why not give the plastics just one more try. And boy am I happy I did. Great product and most importantly (especially for something that you use for 2 seconds a day and toss back in a drawer to forget about until tomorrow) is CHEAP! I would definitely recommend it for any dapper man or woman looking to make the morning routine a little bit easier.Hope this review helps! -Vikki Great for athletic shoes. November 24, 2015 If you are one of those people that wears athletic no cut out tongue shoes like my wife; this is for you! She only buys Nike and Puma shoes that you have to slide over your feet like a sock and I just can't help but laugh seeing her struggle every time to put her shoes on. Since getting these for her, she has used them religiously and can't go without them. They slide on the heel part of the shoe (wider end down) and you just kind of step into the shoe like you were to put it on normally. Took a couple tries but after you get it once, you get the hang of it and they perform well. I was beyond impressed...by a shoe horn? October 9, 2013 First off, I ordered this for someone else and there was a problem with the order (Post office problem, not the seller). I initially left an unkind feedback for the seller, and an hour later the manufacturer called me to make sure I was taken care of. The seller was better than 5-stars when I was done speaking with him, but I still had a shoe horn I couldn't use (the guy I bought it for went back home).So...the natural thing to do is use the shoe horn myself or wait until my friend comes to visit again. I chose to keep it for myself and try out a shoe horn.I LOVE IT! I never realized that it was that big of a deal, but I'm hooked! It's glossy (easier to slide the foot into), it's comfy, and it works well enough that I'm a shoe horn fan now. What else is there to say?Bottom line? It converted a cynic like myself to the product, so it must be good. |
Four Star Reviews: | 8% The device works great, but because it is so long July 23, 2017 Bought this for my mom. The device works great, but because it is so long, it encourages her to put her shoes on while standing - perhaps not the best thing for stubborn elderly. 31 inch long stainless steel shoehorn! March 4, 2016 Kinda funny story....I will start by saying I love the 24 inch stainless steel shoehorn that I own. I use it for more than just putting on my shoes. It's a hook, a grabber, a "dragger", and can even be used for self-defense. I thought I was buying a 2nd one and I have now learned to pay attention and READ the description of what I am purchasing. This one seems way too long but then again I'm only 58 inches tall so naturally it's understandable I would feel that way. It's twice as long as my arms and if I stand to put on my shoes it comes up to my waist. It is sturdy and very good quality. If you are tall I'm confident you will will find it useful. Just what I needed! March 2, 2016 Was looking for a long shoe horn that would make it easier to slide my feet into a couple pairs of western boots that are very stiff in the heel area. It worked like a charm; no struggling to get the boots on anymore! Would have given 5 stars, but the metal is ever so slightly bendable, and I'm wondering how it might be affected after lots of usage. Perfect except for poor finish on nail hole January 9, 2016 This is just the right length. The metal is very sturdy. The paint has just the right slipperiness. The only problem is that the hole in the top for hanging it was not finished properly. It’s a little rough. It’s not exactly ragged or sharp and I don’t think it would cause a cut, but it is not a good finish. If it weren’t painted, I’d smooth it with a file, but that would destroy the paint. So, 4 stars. Otherwise, a great shoe horn. I thought I ordered the right handed one August 24, 2015 I thought I ordered the right handed one, but I think it's for left handers. Kidding aside, it's a very nice, quality tool. The length requires no bending on my part(5'10"). I highly recommend it. Well Made But Needs A Small Enhancement August 4, 2015 At 82 years, It is really nice not to have to bend over to get my shoes on. The item is very sturdy and you cannot ever bend or break it with normal use. However, I found holding the steel 1/3 semicircle that extends all the way from the shoe end to the top was uncomfortable. I went thru a large roll of cloth adhesive tape wrapping it around the top for a 6 inch grip. This removed the steel edges that made it uncomfortable when holding. The only improvement I would make is to add a smooth rounded handle wrapping the steel at the top. For a FRAIL PERSON it might be a bit heavy as it is all steel. | 17% Airport shoe horns July 21, 2017 They are a good size for traveling, esp. In airports where you have to take off your shoes at security Decent alternative to wooden shoe horns April 5, 2017 Just what you would expect. I like this as a wood alternative nice shoe horns June 2, 2016 why all the questions about shoes... these are shoe horns. they work as expected and are long enough for an old lady like me. |
Three Star Reviews: | 2% Good March 1, 2017 Longer than I thought, but I can use it as a steading support (cane?) while putting on my shoes. Three Stars December 27, 2015 This shoehorn would be more functional if the curvature was slightly greater. Too big November 21, 2015 Functions as a shoe horn, but, it is so big and heavy that it was not easy to store. Cumbersome for my wife. Too Long-Measure Before You Buy It November 20, 2015 Its too long. I thought it would be useful when putting on my tall boots but its length is an impediment to getting them on because you can't bend over at all when you are trying to use it or it pokes you in the chest or arm pit. It must have been designed for people who have to do everything standing up and cannot bend over and it is useless for boots.I use it for tucking my jeans into the boots after I pull them on (instead of a ruler) and will get a shorter one. Maybe when I older I can use it better. November 18, 2015 A little too long! Maybe when I older I can use it better. | 6% Not your best bet for a primary shoe horn June 8, 2016 Good price. Sturdy products... but is there such a thing as TOO sturdy? They are in fact very thick, and coming from a steel shoe horn this thing seems so thick, squeezes the foot into the shoe a bit. Handy as a backup and I gave one to my 12 year old son for his nicer shoes. Flimsy plastic but gets the job done. May 3, 2016 Very cheap shoe horns. They get the job done, but you can feel them flex when you put on more stubborn shoes or boots. I'll definitely be looking for something stiffer if I have to buy a set of shoe horns again. It looks/feels like something you would by at March 22, 2016 Quality of the plastic is not what I expected. It looks/feels like something you would by at .99 cents store. Otherwise it serves the purpose. Two Stars October 30, 2014 It's okay; nothing special, but at least made in the USA. If there were a hook at the top for extra leverage to pull it out, it would be an excellent product. |
Two Star Reviews: | 1% TO HEAVY & NOT FLEXABLE December 22, 2016 Product is to heavy and not flexable to allow foot to slip into shoe. Not too good July 26, 2015 too heavy.. edges too thick and sharp for ancient and delicate heel and ankle skin | 3% Kind of flimsy and I'm afraid to use too much ... December 14, 2016 Kind of flimsy and I'm afraid to use too much pressure with these for fear of snapping the plastic in half. Not what I expected. either from poor workmanship, cheap material or a combination of both September 22, 2016 These appear to be very cheaply made. The plastic is very thin and too flexible to be used correctly. They also appear to be warped and twisted, either from poor workmanship, cheap material or a combination of both. I would not recommend these as a quality shoe horn. Way overpriced... May 11, 2016 It feels like something I could have bought at a $1 store, it's way overpriced at $5 for being a cheap piece of plastic. Also, the pictures somehow make it look bigger than it really is. The only thing that makes the purchase bearable is that it's made in the USA...That being said, it works. Better than a soup spoon but not by much September 1, 2014 This is too narrow for me. Measures just 1.5" at the widest part, and the curve or cup is very deep so my heel doesn't fit in it. Better than a soup spoon but not by much. I ordered a metal one here on Amazon that is wider, but I was surprised that it will take 6-8 weeks to arrive. Surely from overseas and coming by boat, but I didn't realize it is a canoe! |
One Star Reviews: | 1% Very cheap bendable metal, bends easier than a spoon July 18, 2017 After about a month the metal starts bending and completely defeats the purpose of having one of these. The plus side: it's recyclable May 9, 2017 After a few months of intermittent use, the metal is bent and the paint is peeling. I wish it failed sooner so I could have returned it. Since having knee surgery I have a hard time bending ... March 1, 2016 Since having knee surgery I have a hard time bending it to put my shoes on. I thought a long shoe horn would help. But it's very hard to hold & heavy. Bent Badly Upon Immediate Use Out of Package May 15, 2015 I was hoping to find a shoe horn that I could use with one hand to put on house shoes. I am trying to break a bad habit of walking into my house with muddy shoes. I know that most people love kick of there shoes upon entering their home after work or outside choirs, but as an amputee removing shoes decreases mobility. Decreased mobility means household tasks take longer and that's time I don't have. Furthermore, after an active day day at work I have to sit down after coming through my house door to remove work shoes and slip on house shoes. Sitting down gives sore muscles opportunity to stiffen and reduces all the mojo I had workin' (momentum/motivation) to complete choirs. I don't another reason to put of until tomorrow what could be done today. | 2% On Christmas morning he opened it and it was a very bizarre and awful smelling white sport coat looking piece of clothing covere January 28, 2016 So I bought this "shoe horn" for my boyfriend for Christmas. It arrived and I immediately wrapped it without taking it out of its original package. On Christmas morning he opened it and it was a very bizarre and awful smelling white sport coat looking piece of clothing covered in what looks like Chinese or Japanese letters. And considering that the 'shoe horn' alleges that it is "MADE IN THE USA" I suspect that it is not. Mostly due to the fact that when it arrived it was neither a shoe horn and it was covered in what looks like some kind of Asian letters. So unless you want a sweatshop smelling bizarre looking clothing item, you probable shouldn't buy this shoe horn... since I didn't get one. Perhaps I will add a picture of what arrived later. Broke in half after 2 uses December 19, 2012 The plastic is pretty cheap and it cracked in half (split up the middle) the second day I tried to use it. I ordered a metal one now. Small Shoe Horn Overpriced Shipping July 2, 2012 The shoe horn is very cheep and short. It measured 6 inches. The shipping is very expensive do not purchase this item poor quality and overpriced.I would give zero stars but that is not an option in the review process. |
