Five Star Reviews: | 72% A Real Help As I Age February 9, 2017 I use these to assist in getting my shoes on without having to bend as far. I used one of my wife's emery boards to smooth out the edges. While not quite "sharp" there were metal edges, and I wanted them smoother than they were. I took maybe 15 minutes getting them as smooth as I wanted them, I do not think the edges were bad, just that I wanted them smoother than they were shipped (personal preference, not upset at the product or the manufacturer). Since then I have used these daily with great pleasure and comfort. Nice product: TIP included July 18, 2015 This is a very good product. Light and sturdy. The metal shaft is attached to the wood handle with 2 screws. TIP: over time the screws will loosen. Try some wood glue to keep them in place. Unscrew fill holes with wood glue and screw together again, wipe away any glue and done. ' A simple well made tool that makes life so much easier September 8, 2014 My father (84 years old) was visiting with me a couple of weeks ago and he was struggling with putting his shoes on with one of those short shoe horns. So I decided to do a little research online to see if there was an alternative and found this item with pretty good reviews. I ordered it immediately and planned to give it to my Dad the next time I saw him. However, before giving it to Dad I decided to give it a try. I have arthritis in one of my hips so I've been struggling with putting on my walking shoes for awhile now. I've never used a shoe horn before and I had pretty much resigned myself to destroying the backs of my shoes when I pushed my foot in even after I loosened the ties. Well, that has all changed now, I am so surprised and pleased at what a simple tool like this can do to make one's life easier.This long handed shoe horn is very well made with smooth edges that don't catch on my socks. The connection between the wood handle and the metal shoe horn is very solid. I am 5"6" and I can use it either sitting on a chair or standing up.I already ordered a second one to give to my Dad because I'm keeping this one. Excellent Shoe Horn February 17, 2014 I've only used this shoe horn a few days, but it has been excellent. First, it has a nice wooden handle that has rounded edges and is easy to hold. I like the handle instead of just a longer metal extension. It feels better to hold and use. The handle is attached with two screws and is very secure. Second, it has a leather thong through a hole in the handle so you can hang it up if you want to. It's a nice addition. Third, it's just under a foot long so I don't have to bend over to get my sneakers on. All-in-all, I'd rate it an excellent buy. Needed this for my sneakers as the quilted collar interferes with getting my foot in. This works especially well on 8" boots or anything shorter. I had to repair it when it arrived but I attribute that to the packaging. Should have ordered a one piece shoe horn. December 25, 2016 This item works fine as a shoe horn, however, the screws holding the horn to the wooden handle have a tendency to work loose. Tightening them repeatedly will surely result in wearing out the holes in the wood. Some sort of thread seal may help, but I suspect that the life of this item will be less than it should be.If I were to order a longer shoe horn in the future it will be made of one piece of material. Shoehorn? September 26, 2015 Very flimsy, was even missing a screw. Very easy to bend. Don't like it. The customer service, on the other hand was excellent. Shipping was VERY fast. My only other comment would be that the metal shoe horn already seems to be bending a bit, even though I don't put any unusual strain on it. I am already considering spending extra money on a longer, lifetime warranty shoe horn. If I were only going to use this shoe horn, say, once a week, it would likely be entirely adequate. But since I use it every day, sometimes several times a day, I feel as though I am going to wear it out in a very short time, especially if the metal starts bending. A shoe horn that bends isn't worth much as a shoehorn. Pros and cons September 24, 2013 Pros: nice length (for me), good stiffness, proper thickness of metal portion; attractive and comfortable wooden handle portion; nice leather loop for hanging.Cons: The outside perimeter edge of the metal portion is a bit sharp, where the metal was sheared. It should have been heavily tumble-deburred before plating. So I am concerned that with moderate usage it will accelerate the wear of my socks (sharp inside edge) and my shoes (sharp outside edge). I think that I will end up taking my rotary Dremel and rounding the edges, but that of course will remove the protective plating along the edge.Too bad, too, because they almost got this product perfect, but as it is, I would rather have bought something else since I don't need another project, no matter how small.Frankly, I don't get the reviews that complain about the length - it is stated in listing and is correct. Anyone with a little thought should be able to take a ruler or tape measure, and bend down to determine if the length is suitable for their flexibility before ordering. The length was perfect for my needs; I just wish it had a rounded metal edge.There was also a complaint about the metal strength, and I feel it is totally adequate. Don't use the device as a crowbar (i.e., loosen your shoes a bit first) and you will have no trouble with it. March 14, 2015 I feel the metal is not strong or thick enough. The horn bent after a few months of use, and now bends more each time I use it. It's certainly a convenient length, but that length means the metal should be a bit heavier. The screws that hold the metal to the wood also came loose, so every month or so I have to retighten them. Bends way too easily. September 26, 2014 I am changing our previous review. We thought it wouldn't bend but it does, easily. Won't be buying this again. Ever!
