Five Star Reviews: | 77% If you have never used a potato ricer your in ... May 26, 2017 If you have never used a potato ricer your in for a treat! Remember to steam your tots before placing them in the ricer! No lumps! April 17, 2017 I finally just used this to make mashed potatoes. For the first time ever, I had no lumps in my mashed potatoes! They were silky and delightful. The ricer is a very high-quality, ergonomic tool and I plan to use it a lot in the future. Now it the time....Readt set go... to the kitchen...CREATE January 7, 2017 I have wanted a ricer for sooooo long and now I finally have my own. I love gnocchi and can not wait to make many different kinds as well as the best mashed potatoes ever. The 2 year warranty was the deciding factor besides being stainless steel in ordering your product. This ricer will get a real work out so I hope it does last AND when it does I will be reining the bells for you for sure. I not only cook from recipes... I also create new dishes so I will being doing a lot of new things with your product. Fruits, veggies and more.....who knows what will strike my fancy. Honestly the best investment I've ever made December 3, 2016 Honestly the best investment I've ever made. Makes me feel like a put together adult. I can stick a potato in the microwave for like 5 minutes and then smash it with this thing and have the best mashed potatoes of my life in 6 minutes! You don't even have to peel the potato first, this thing just smashes it and leaves nothing but the peel inside. It blows my mind. I'm so in love with it!! | 85% Just what I was looking for! July 26, 2017 I've seen this Oxo tool on many different cooking shows on TV. I looked in various big department stores for it, plus a famous kitchen store, but no one had it, so I ordered it from Amazon. It came in the mail yesterday, and I was very surprised how thick and heavy duty the stainless steel scraper is! There's even an inches scales engraved into it!! This will make my life so much easier, as I do a lot of cooking at home. The handle is heavy duty also. I'm always cutting up something, and using the back of a knife to try to scrape up onions, garlic, carrots, celery, etc, was time consuming. I can't wait to use this scraper when I make dinner tonight!! Strong and Sturdy and Perfect! June 2, 2017 it is larger than I thought. That is not a problem, but just bigger than I imagined, even though I read the dimensions, I didn't realize it. But it is great!. It is sturdy and strong metal. The handle is soft and non slip. It is perfect for baking or for scooping up chopped vegetables. Note: it is not flexible. If you were hoping for a flexible one to scoop in or out of bowls, then get a plastic one. This is very solid, sturdy, and strong. Great puchase and a must for all who do lots of cooking and need to scoop vegetables or for those who do lots of baking. Favorite gadget! September 21, 2016 My favorite kitchen gadget ever. I used the crap out of this thing, and have been whining at my family to get me a new one since I moved 6 months ago. No joke, I love this thing. It is fantastic for anyone into baking or candy making. Keep it mind it has zero flexibility, so think of it as a cutter, as a ruler, and as a scraper, but just not if the job calls for a flexible scraper. When I mix in hot sugar for candy, I like these, because I can get the most off of the surface. I also love it when I'm trying to get my dough precise. Very nice product, and a great multi-tasker January 23, 2015 Works great. I always get set with the task of doing all the knife work in my kitchen, so I spend a lot of time at the cutting board, and I really like this little guy. Makes clean up very fast, and you're able to get everything into the bowl very quickly without messing around. It also acts as a very nice dough cutter when baking as well! And lastly, it also has length measurement marking along the blade so you can measure your cuts. A very handy kitchen multitasker. Good quality construction. I see us having this product for a very long time. Recommended For Bread and Pie Crust February 5, 2014 I bought this on a whim, and now find that I can't do without it when making bread and pastry. As an engineer, I'm very careful (my kids say loony) about wanting everything a uniform size. I make large batches of pie crust dough, and weigh it, and then use this to cut it into exactly even pieces. Likewise, when I'm making yeast rolls, I use a scale to divide my batch of dough in half, and then use this cutter to cut off pieces which are exactly 2 ounces. It's much easier than wrestling with your dough. The handle at the top of this chopper is very large and feels soft, although it's really hard plastic. It feels good in the hand, and works well either left- or right-handed. Finally, when cleaning up the counter after making pie crust, yeast bread or anything which involves slinging lots of flour around, this is wonderful for scraping it up without marring the counter, and it's large enough to hold a lot of flour and remove it from the counter. OXO makes good quality items, and this one is quite useful. | 66% There are no reviews yet | 78% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 11% Does well November 8, 2017 Rec4. Stars due to metal seems to be little thinner than I hoped for, don't get me wrong love the product three disks are great use them all and will probably hold up,it's not flemsey just would not hold up for all day restaurant use,but it will do for me for now maybe forever i hope Netbabe September 24, 2017 This is first ricer I have ever owned, or used! I have been using the old fashioned "masher"! What an eye opener! Effortless, creamy, " mashed" potatoes is my reward for finally taking the leap. I haven't used all 3 disks, but I have some things in mind for them. I'll update if I discover a superb use for them. This ricer looks well built, so I think it will last. Perfect for smooth mashed potatoes. No lumps! August 1, 2017 Works very well. Makes the task of mashing potatoes a cinch. Perfectly smooth mashed potatoes, not lumpy.Only down side is that some of the potato does stay stuck to the insides of the cylinder instead of going through the grill holes, but it's not too bad. I'm happy with it so far. Anothr Option to make mashed potatoes.... May 9, 2017 My sister-in-law has one and recommended I get one too. After I got it and used it, she said "its hard to press isn't it?" And, it is, but it does work and the potatoes were delicious and smooth. I have only used the disc with large holes. Next time, I'll ask my husband to press the potatoes!! Quality construction April 12, 2017 Learning to use it. Well made stainless steel. Have not tried all three discs. Used for Hash browned potatoes, extracting the potato liquid. Worked as promised December 2, 2016 Just got this for my Thanksgiving mashed potatoes. I used it for the first time that day and it was easy to use and very effective. Not a lump in sight! My grandmother had one and used it to make gnocchi and I have wanted one for years. I finally got this one after reading up on different models. For the price and availability this seemed the best choice. It is sturdy, and performed well. Takes a bit of muscle power depending on how full the cup part is. I like the feature that lets you rest it across the bowl or pot you are using while you fill it. My grandmother had hers of 20+ years, but I don't the manufacturer was. I hope this one lasts me at least as long! | 11% Useful and Well Made. December 17, 2016 Heavier handle than I'm used to, but a fine utensil. When you need one - nothing else will do. In the catering firm we always called it a "bus", probably because it transported food from one place to another (quite apart from its relationship to dough). It's a nice product, though being old fashioned, I still prefer the one with the pearwood handle. Nice quality with some reservations and unfortunately like most everything it is unfortunately made in China. April 20, 2016 I like this scraper although I agree with America's test kitchen on PBS where they did not rate this as their favorite because the handle is so wide that you cannot get it close enough to the counter for use in some scraping preparation work but other than that I like the quality of the product other than the fact that like most products it unfortunately is made in China. Why didn't I get one of these before? January 13, 2016 I got this after reading Kenji Lopez-Alt's "The Food Lab". Then I made chili to fill 2 Dutch ovens, and the prep was a lot more efficient because of this tool. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is a storage issue. I want to keep it out near my cutting board, but can't figure out a sensible way to store it there. If there was a hole in the handle, I'd put a hook on the wall. Does anyone know: can I drill a hole in this? Is it solid plastic except for the blade, or is it a plastic layer over a core material? Excellent bench scraper January 4, 2015 This product surely does not need another review, but here goes anyway. I use it exclusively as a bench scraper for moving flour around a baking bench, cleaning the bench, and dividing dough. I don't use it as a chopper; I don't use it to scoop diced vegetables off a cutting board (there are better tools for that); I just use it as a classic bench scraper. It works very well for that purpose. One reviewer was concerned that the scraper is not flexible. A bowl scraper should be flexible but a bench scraper should not be, so that is simply not an issue. The handle is not made of exotic wood, just hard rubber, but it is comfortable, non-slip, and sturdy. I wash it by hand as a matter of habit, so whether or not it is dishwasher safe is not an issue for me. I have seen prettier bench scrapers, and I like the look of a wooden handle, but this is a cost-effective high quality item that should last indefinitely. | 16% There are no reviews yet | 7% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 5% Three Stars August 23, 2017 Difficult to push butter and boiled potatoes out the small hole attachment. It may get easier with practice. This works good but I like the one I got from William ... March 22, 2017 This works good but I like the one I got from William Sonoma. It was more expensive but I just like how it works better. The one good thing about this product is it has different inserts. Rust after one wash? January 24, 2017 This works great so far. I am not sure it is going to hold up ricing potatoes for the long term, we shall see. My only gripe is that I spotted some rust after a single hand washing! Try something new January 10, 2017 a little fussier than I expected. I'm just used to the traditional old fashioned way of mashing up those tators :) Did not work as well as i thought December 5, 2016 The potato ricer is not very sturdy. Mine is actually starting to bend a bit and i only put potatoes through it. Also the potatos tend to escape through the side of the cylinder, because the ram that pushes it is slightly smaller than the actual cylinder. Maybe ill try a different brand when this one breaks, or i will get a food mill next time Time consuming August 7, 2016 No instructions. Sturdy but hard to use with small hands. Having three discs is a plus for preparing different ingredients. Although between each "basket of ingredients" the perforated disc and the metal pusher must be pried apart because of the "leftover ingredients". The perforated disc then can be placed again at the bottom of the basket. Overall, time consuming but the end result is a smooth and not lumpy. | 3% A little too small, but works fine. June 27, 2016 Was surprised to see how small it was. It's on the small side, but does the job. Does OK. Certain doughs do stick very badly though ... December 7, 2015 Does OK. Certain doughs do stick very badly though. Next one I buy will be made of silicone so things won't stick. Very sturdy, The handle is a little too beefy for ... September 2, 2015 Very sturdy, The handle is a little too beefy for my personal taste when I'm doing many veggies for canning for example. Quality is GREAT though. depends on what you want to use it for..... January 23, 2015 Great scooping knife and scraper for butcher block which is exactly what I purchased it for. The knife itself is dull, dull, dull hence why I rated it only 3 stars. | 6% There are no reviews yet | 7% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 3% I liked the design and features August 5, 2017 Bummer, I've only used it 10 times over a couple years and the metal plate broke off. I liked the design and features. Works poorly for making spaetzle January 24, 2017 Does not work well for making spaetzle. The removable disc sticks to the plunger each time and is a pain to put back in the cup. I also bought the Norpro Spaetzle Maker on Amazon and I prefer it- it works great Not worth the trouble September 4, 2016 We've only used it for potatoes and it does work well but is more work than it's probably worth. Each time you push some potato through the disc sticks to them and the plunger when you lift it back out. So your constantly resetting the discs and dealing with the hot potato. It should have been designed with a ring to screw on the bottom to hold the discs or a slide in system to make the discs unmovable. Unsatisfied April 28, 2016 I bought this to use on cooked cauliflower. Well it absolutely did not work. Probably will work in potatoes just fine. More trouble than it's worth December 5, 2015 Based on many positive reviews, I really thought I was going to love this ricer. Unfortunately it is more trouble than it is worth. The removable disk sticks to the plunger every time it is pressed. It does a nice job ricing, but it takes a lot of extra time to pry it off and re-insert it after each addition of vegetable to the cup. | 1% So glad I didn't throw out my 10-year old scraper/chopper that ... November 22, 2016 So glad I didn't throw out my 10-year old scraper/chopper that I got from Target for $2.99. It has a larger surface and lays flat, so scooping up chopped vegetables is easier. Because of the black handle, the OXO scraper/chopper doesn't lay flat. I'll probably leave it in the back of the utensil drawer for a few years until I ask myself why I'm hanging onto it when I have no use for it . . . and then throw it out. Oh, well. Too sharp for me. April 12, 2016 I had a dough scraper that I used for many years and loved. The handle is cracking so I bought this. But the edge is very sharp. It worked but doesn't move smoothly over my wooden countertop as my old one did. I am afraid I am going to scratch my countertop and it is rather like nails on a chalkboard to me. Two Stars November 2, 2015 I didn't really like it as it's not that great of a chopper. It's just not sharp enough. | 5% There are no reviews yet | 3% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 4% Construction didn't last through one use. September 19, 2017 Used it once, the room weld cracked overnight as it sat in the sink. It's now in the garbage. Not durable. Don't buy. September 6, 2017 Ring (brace?) around the barrel developed a crack after only 5 times I cooked mashed potatoes. Judging by large number of positive reviews, I suspect that manufacturer switched to cheaper materials.Update: after going through other reviews (starting from newest) it appears that this is a common problem. Beware. Received a cheap ricer, instead of what I ordered! January 19, 2017 I ordered the "Bellemain Stainless Steel Potato Ricer", and received a cheaper, version (Intoos) which is very poorly made. Very disappointed!! Will be returning this- very disappointed! January 5, 2017 I don't understand why everyone raves about this gadget. I tried to make cauliflower rice with it, but it's WAY too hard to press down on the veggies. I used frozen cauliflower (fully thawed) and all I got was the water pressed out and a flattened few pieces of the vegetable. Will be returning this- very disappointed! This was a waste of money July 14, 2016 This was a waste of money...all the attachments get clogged with the potatoes and they collect between the insert that make different sizes. Do not purchase this, very poor design. | 0% I thought it was a chopper so no it will ... December 13, 2016 I thought it was a chopper so no it will. It do what I was needing it to do . Not Recommended October 29, 2016 This product is labeled as Stainless Steele which should be rust resistant. After each use, I hand washed & dried the scraper to protect the finish. It rusted after only a few uses. I would not recommend this product. Dull as a hammer December 31, 2014 Dull as a hammer. It is a bit big to be handled easily, but it is very thick heavy tool and edge is dullest thing in our kitchen. I use to have this tool as part of the the knife set made by different manufacturer, it was thin, light, razor sharp and we used if for pretty much anything, and unfortunately, this one is nothing like it. Multipurpose? I still need to think one thing I can use it for. | 7% There are no reviews yet | 5% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
