Does an excellent job of lifting the carpet pile and making it looks new again especially in high traffic areas.

It helps loosen dirt pre-vacuuming and finishes the job making the vacuum lines disappear (until the next set of footprints are made!) Great for tidying up before visitors come. You need to be gentle with it.....it works well without a lot of pressure.

This sure makes my carpets look better and gives my husband something to do.

Where has this been my whole life?! This little rake really grabs all my very long dark hair. The first time I used it on my beige carpet I couldn't even believe how much hair had been stuck to it. It was...gross. Normal vacuum cleaners typically can't suck up my hair. I wish I had discovered this a long time ago. I use this before vacuuming and my carpet looks great.

This thing is great! We are selling our house and one of the comments from a prospective buyer was that they thought they would have to replace the carpet because it looked worn. The carpet is mid quality and is only four years old. I knew there had to be something that could help make it look "fluffy" and fresh again. I bought this and am amazed! I have gone over the worn looking sports and it has really helped make it look a lot better. I didn't get it to collect any pet hair or anything, just to make the carpet look fresh. Even with walking on it and the carpet laying flat a little bit again, it still doesn't look worn anymore.

Came just as pictured. and WOW! the difference it made in how clean my carpet gets. My husband though I just bought junk so we tested it. In two high traffic areas in my house. One area we used the rake and the other we didn't. The area that we didn't rake just didn't look great even after vacuuming. So we raked it and to our amazement you could hear particles going into the vacuum and the carpet looked fresher and fluffier than before. It took along time for our vacuum to stop sensing particles and for the lights to stop blinking so we just kept vacuuming different angles and once the vacuum stopped we knew we had all the stuff out of the carpet. We now use the rake every time before we vacuum.

Best 9 dollars ever spent! Had builder quality carpet. It was getting very matted in high traffic areas. With a couple swipes, this way and that, followed by a vacuum.. 2 years of carpet wear looks and feels like new. I will be buying the rake next.

Works well. Takes elbow grease to sit and comb the carpet, but works well on the Frieze carpet that we have (less than 4 years old and we were told it would not matt---they lied). Be aware that you will continually have to comb the carpet because the fibers just aren't what they once were. It is easier after the matting is out. I bought a broom to do the touchup work. This is good for stairs, too.

Dramatic impact for 10 bucks! I used this on my carpeted stairs to fix some worn spots. Easy to use and very effective. The amount of dirt I vacuumed up after raking was mildly upsetting: all of that was just laying there in my carpet all along! I plan to buy a larger one for the floors, too. Invest in this and prolong the life of your carpeting!

Our frieze carpet is about 13 years old and is starting to show signs of wear, despite us taking shoes off and having it professionally cleaned. I did a great deal of research on how to give it new life, as we are not having it replaced any time soon. I decided to go with a carpet rake, and after doing some research I decided to invest a bit more in a commercial groomer, as I was concerned with the quality of less expensive models.The rake can be used before vacuuming to loosed up any crumbs embedded in the carpet, after vacuuming to fluff it back up, or both. I have used it both ways and am very happy overall that I made the investment. Using it after vacuuming makes the carpet look much nicer, if not new again.I did NOT receive this item at a discount. I'm very pleased overall with this purchase and would recommend the rake to anyone looking to give old carpet new life again.

Great item for carpet with a nap.

I have 3 dogs and a cat and they all shed. My vacuum was constantly getting filled up with all the pet hair. I use this before vacuuming, and pull it across the carpet in one direction and it's very easy to pick up the pile of pet hair that is there. Then I vacuum my carpet....between the two my carpets are very clean and I don't have to empty my vacuum as often. This was recommended to my by the vacuum repair person that fixed my vacuum the last time it went on the fritz. He said this would help extend the life of my vacuum since I have so many pets.

It works to fluff up the carpet and helps pulling up dog hairs to make it easy for vacuuming. The poles are weak so I'm careful not to put too much stress on them.

This product works good for what it was designed to do however I give it a four star rating because there were no instructions on how to put it together and I had difficulty other than that it's a good product

The rake itself is awesome. It has made a world of difference. If you have deeper carpet, you NEED one of these.

However, plan to immediately replace the handle... it does not hold together. The engineering is mind-bogglingly flawed. But a standard broom handle will work just fine, and those are pretty inexpensive.

Repeated vacuuming of the carpet tends to train the carpet to lay in one direction in tight areas. Heavy traffic areas can also wear a carpet in a beaten down pattern. The carpet rake has stiff plastic teeth to perk up and fluff the carpet fibers when you rake in the perpendicular direction of the normal vacuuming pattern you use. This renews the way the carpet looks, especially in high traffic areas like to the kitchen or a bedroom. The rake is lightweight with a plastic handle and very easy to use. The teeth or comb on the rake is stiff plastic so it is strong enough for household use. It is too lightweight for commercial use. I gave it four stars because the end cap of the handle comes off if you grip the top of the handle; somewhat irritating but given its price and rake is well worth the purchase. I use it once a week just in the high traffic areas and the narrow places between the walls and the furniture where you can only vacuum in one direction.

Very happy with my purchase. I had one like this given to me a long time ago however it broke and this has been a great replacement. I have a Chow Chow/shepherd mix and two long haired girls this helps so I don't have to tear apart the vacuum every room to clean out the hair.

The rake is a nice product. It would have been nice if a handle would have been included in the purchase.

met the expectations. my carpet is 14 years old and was getting the beat down traffic pattern. a carpet rake was recommended by the person who cleaned the carpet. it performed as well as the professionals rake.

The Carpet Rake works excellently. It really gets deep between the carpet fibers and pulls the dirt out.This makes vacuuming a breeze and lifts the fibers so the carpet looks great.This item would have been given a 5 but the picture is deceiving.I thought when I was purchasing this product that it would come in a complete form. I thought that the pole part of the rake came with it. When I received just the rake sections without the poles and saw that I had to go get poles from a hardware store in order to use it I was very disappointed.When you attach the rake to the pole you must tighten the screw into the pole and after raking it becomes lose due to the resistance while raking. It needs constant tightening.So the rakes are great but I feel that they should come with the poles included.

Like this carpet comb! I use on stairs after vacuuming and does a great job at lifting the fibers. The comb is plastic and flexible. Have only used a few times and seems sturdy. My concern is plastic comb breaking but so far so good. Would recommend.

Very good for stairs and areas where the full size rake cannot fit.It seems strong and well made. The reason I am giving it a 4 stars instead of 5 is because of kinda "sharp" edges of the handle, I have small hands and maybe this is the reason. You really have to have a good grasp of the handle when you rake the carpet.

I decided to try this size to see if it works before buying the 'floor model' rake. This hand rake takes a lot of effort, but the results are good. I'm going to go ahead and buy the bigger size.

I've modified the handle by making it a three-piece handle that is connected with 3/4" pvc connectors. This makes it easy to store and transport to photo shoots.

The rake is sturdy, with a single row of plastic bristles that you drag thru the carpet fibers.Other rakes supposedly break after one use, but this one seems to be built sturdier.

We really like this product! We are selling our house and there was some areas of the carpet in high traffic areas that was clean but wouldn't stand up any more. It seems the carpet looks better and better after each use with this carpet rake. I wish we had owned this product since our carpet was new.Cons - The only con I can come up with is that I managed to bend a couple of the rake fingers when I stored it rake side down with some other cleaning items like booms and mops. Not sure it should have been so easy to bend the fingers. It was a quick fix to bend them back and the performance of the rake was not affected.

this product was just what i was looking for. It is very well constructed. leaves carpet looking plush between vacuuming.

Turns out this thing doesn't work on certain carpets and works GREAT on others. I tried it on a longer carpet fiber and it worked. Kind of. It definitely missed fur.

On a shorter, higher traffic carpet this thing worked so well it made a professional steam company lose it's job.

The rake itself works well on the carpet and would probably work a whole lot better if the handle weren't so cheaply made. The handle comes in 3 pieces which must be put together. The connections for these 3 pieces will not stay together. With any extended use of the rake the 3 pieces come apart. I am not going to waste my time or money returning this item, I am going to just tape the handle together. If that doesn't work I will look elsewhere for a new rug rake. You would think an item costing over $20.00 would be better made.

I love the idea, but we had to rig it because the bottom white comb piece keeps falling off. There is no real way to secure it, which is pretty ridiculous, considering that it's for raking carpet. We ended up duct taping it, but I wish it had worked as is. It does a good job once you get the comb piece to stay on though.

I always hear commits about stuff that fall apart "it must be made in China" if it was made in the USA it wouldn't fall apart. I do love the rake and it does a great job all different types of carpet. But what is up with this flimsy cheap ass handle that is suppose to be able to withstand pressure while raking? This handle is made in the USA? One made in China I bet would hold up better than the USA one. Groom Industries you did great on the rake part but you be ashamed about the handle part and to proudly stamp "made in USA" on it. Luckily I had an old mop that I was going to throw away but it was the same size as the handle that came with the rake so I cut the handle off and with some glue slid the new handle in place and threw out the handle that came with the rake. The new handle works and looks GREAT! If I didn't have the old mop to use I would have sent the rake back. That's why only 3 stars - the handle part

The rake itself is very effective. It does not "pick up" dog hair as some people are thinking. It's not a carpet version of the Furminator! We have pretty new carpets but with two adults two large dogs and a cat the high traffic areas were not looking pretty. I'll use it right before a vacuum and it picks up a lot more then just vacuuming and carpet looks great. So why the three stars? THe actual item assembly is awful, I thought I'd save some money and get the 3 piece handle, and I should've gotten the more expensive one. It's super wobbly and likes to unscrew as I'm using it so I'm constantly stopping to fix it. I ended up using some electrical tape for extra stability on the threads of the plastic part and it helped a little but still super flimsy.

Actually I only got one rake. It works well enough to get the hair off the carpet.

I have not used it very much. The tines are quite sharp and I am afraid it will fray the ends of the carpet. It has only been used for a little bit of "touch up"

OK, but I wish it came with a handle. Just so happened to have a handle from a broom that works perfect. ( I tested it on an area of carpet in a bedroom ).

The rake works well. It came in a nice package, but with NO handle/pole. Rake arrived only. I had to use an old mop pole/handle, and drill screws in the base of the rake! Well, not Amazaon's fault. Thank you anyway.

The first time I used this to rake my carpet it broke, but was fixable. My husband screwed into the plastic through the broomstick and it hasn't broken since, and it is used almost daily. Some of the teeth are bent maybe I'm too ambitious with it. Couldn't find any other sort of rake on the market that is more sturdy, but with modification this one should last you quite awhile.

Sorry to get gross, but ... my cat throws up on the beige carpet. Often. He has irritable bowel disease so it's a dark color and stains instantly. Eewww.My carpet cleaner company is fantastic, and they love me because I'm a frequent customer. I use the same liquid solution they do in between professional cleanings, but I don't have quite the same result. They suggested I use this "rake" on the carpet after spot cleaning. It just doesn't do much to finish the job. The problem must be my own cleaning skills because after the cleaning crew is done, there are no stains.I'll edit this review after the cleaning company's next visit -- maybe they can show me how to better use this tool.EDIT Jan. 23. 2014: The cleaning company said to use the rake WITH the solution, not after. The carpets are spotless now so I'll have to wait until the next stain to update again.

Not for me. Was hoping to take my carpet of dog hair that the vacuum doesn't pick up, but this didn't work at all. The rubber one I bought earlier works better but will not good enough.I don't know what kind of carpet this would fluff up anyway, cuz it didn't even do that for mine.Returned.

This is really too heavy for me (87 year-old female). I saw my carpet cleaner use it to give a smooth look. However I think maybe it would work easier if my carpet was shag.

I am really pretty happy with my carpet rake. I've never used one before but have heard good things. So I thought I'd try it out. It isn't an easy or quick job. But it does make your carpet look awesome! I wish the bristles were sturdier, I'm not sure how much usage they can stand. We'll see.

This was a POS

Took 2 passes on the carpet and heard an odd noise. On the 3rd pass, the handle completely cracked. We had an extension pole for painting in the garage, which we screwed into the white rake portion and its working. Our carpet is very long so the areas that are flattened from high traffic, it kinda pulls it up and then its immediately squished again as soon as someone steps on it. Carpet is less than 2 yrs old.

I would have loved to give a better review for this product as it did just as it said for the first 5 uses. I tried using it normally today and the head popped off and bristles flew everywhere, there is no way to fix it if this happens. It was fun trying to race my 9 month old on picking them up before he got to them 😕

I love the brush head. It works as promised removing hair from the carpet. But the handle is flimsy. It bent and cracked within 60 seconds of the first use (see pic). Great potential, poor execution.

I gave it 2 stars because it does pick the nap up on the carpet. The problem is that the connecting pole is horrible. It doesn't stay together the plastic screw female end split immediately. I should have just teturned it. I am currently looking for a replacement one piece pole and until then I had to crazy glue it together. I cannot recommend this product.

I have purchased these carpet rakes before and had great luck for years..when it finally broke I bought two more which imediately broke after one use . I was in contact with the seller and they replaced one and after two uses it broke just like the other two ... I will not be coming back to this seller!!

Okay for very light fluffing of my shag carpet. But it did nothing on matted areas. It's just not strong enough.

I purchased this because I needed something to get the hair off the carpet before I vacuum (I shed a lot and hate how my hair gets stuck twisted around my vacuum brush). I originally wanted the rubberized carpet brush but as it was continuously out of stock I bought this thinking it would still be better than crawling around raking my hands over the carpet which is what I used to (and still) do. Unfortunately I never got the hang of using this brush...maybe I was doing it wrong but no matter how hard I brushed or at what angle I held the brush against the carpet it wouldn't pick up any of the hair. I know it's not the perfect tool...and maybe my application is bad...but after a few frustrated fruitless attempts I had to go back to my finger method and this brush went in the trash.

The handle broke during normal use. Was effective on my rugs while it was usable. Very disappointed.

They make carpet rakes with steel brushes. I would say buy that one.This one should not be labeled commercial. I got on my hands and knees and brushed the carpet with a cat brush. It worked awesome, but of course , is too small.

I wanted to like it because I really needed it to work. Granted, my purchase was in hopes it would pick up my human hair but after seeing it operates, I can't imagine this would pick up animal hair either. You really need something rubberized and dense to do the trick and this is not. It is comprised of cheap, easily bendable, plastic bristles and not dense enough to do anything other than comb your carpet and any hair in the direction you're pulling. The way the joint in the arm connects leaves it disconnecting too often as well. Before you buy one of these for hair, make sure you do two things. 1. Get under your vaacuum and pull it apart to cut out & clean out any hair and debris on its rolling brush. Also clean out any vents and filters. Be sure all passageways are clear of clogs, let everything air dry, and put back together. Replace HEPA filter if necessary. Try this on your carpet first. 2. Look for a good hairdressers broom or rubber gloves from the pet section intended for cleaning dogs. This broom is a waste of money unfortunately. 😔

I bought this because a friend of mine has it was sturdy and it does a good job on making her carpets look nice. Apparently the company got cheap on quality since she got hers. Hers had a solid one-piece broom type handle. Mine came with an extremely light weight 3 piece metal handle. It is useless!!! After putting it together and trying it for the first time on my carpet it flexed easily while barely raking and it broke. I then took a solid handle from my broom and attached it to the rake head. Much better! I suggest buying the head separately for $10.00 and use your own handle. As purchased, this rake is not worth the $20.00 I paid for it.

The actual rake works very well, but the shaft provided to attach it to, is poorly constructed and bent within a couple of uses; the shaft has now split. The shaft is made from three short lengths of tubing which slide into each other.Great idea, poor execution/ quality

I ordered this carpet rake on 10/10/2016 in preparation for deep cleaning my carpets. I finally started the task this past weekend and literally, within 10 minutes of using this thing, the handle cracked where you screw it together. I just got on Amazon to see about exchanging it but my 30 day return window has passed with no option to exchange. I would like to exchange this thing and upgrade to a more sturdy handled (wood I think) model and pay the difference. Even for $20, one should get more than 10 minutes use.

Several things were wrong with this product.1. It comes in pieces that need to be attached to each other....they do not fit properly and leaves a very wobbly handle.2. The bristles are not strong enough to leave any effect on the carpet.3. Mine came looking like it had been used. The white part with the bristles was dirty and worn-out.Item Returned.

This is a total waste of money. It comes in four pieces, which appear easy to assemble until you actually try to do so. The broom part falls apart seconds after you screw it in. The rake part is flimsy plastic. I thought I received a bad one, so to Amazon's credit, they sent a replacement overnight. Unfortunately, it was equally as bad. Run, don't walk.....away from this item. I just boxed them both back up and they're on their way back.

This PRODUCT doesn’t change anything on my long pile carpet. It had also many scratches on the surface even had a bunt scar. I used a toothbrush for my long pile rug before, and it was more work but always better result. TOOTHBRUSH ($4.99) does so much BETTER JOB on my rugs THAN this PRODUCT ($9.99). I dont understand how this PRODUCT picked by Amazon LLC.

Returned. Its no good for artificial turf. Very soft, flimsy materials. Tried and after 2 minutes packed it all up and returned.

Was hoping that this would give my old rugs a little pick-me-up.

I was so disappointed that this "commercial" grade rake was clearly not intended for my "Mi Mi Mi" rug. It has thin plastic teeth and would only skim across the top of my rug. It may work for a "normal" type shag but definitely not for a long, super thick carpet as the one that I have. Always hate giving lowest item ratings and want to make sure that it doesn't reflect negatively on the companies reputation for shipping and purchasing from.

Quality of product. Did not do as well as expected. Bought one of the most expensive one, but did not perform as expected.
