Side by Side Comparison of: CAD Audio vs LyxPro

I've used many condenser mics over the past few years and this one is right near the top of the list. It's not gonna be the same quality and sound as a $1000 or more mic but honestly, it's really good and I purchased it for under $100 on Amazon. I now use this mic more than any other that I own which includes several of the AT mics and my rode mic. If you can afford this mic, get it. I don't think you will be disappointed.

So, after many years of buying crap cheaply made headsets, I decided to do headphones and a desktop microphone.This mic is amazing, no pops or cracking sound. My friend told me my voice was crystal clear. I have not tried to test the distance, but, I did have my girlfriend come in the room, and my friends heard the door open and our conversation. However, the sensitivity can be increased and decreased through a pc operating system. Overall, the sound quality is amazing. I've heard my voice played back through videos I record on my pc and it's clear, and awesome. SO glad I chose to get a separate mic. For the price, can't beat it.The shock that comes with the mic is also nice, and made of metal.

This microphone is absolutely amazing. As a professional musician, I've always gone to recording studios for any production. You almost always see very expensive microphones, between $4,000 and $10,000. Sure the quality of going to a studio with these microphones is really good, but you also pay a good amount of money for the production.I have recently begun dabbling in recording and have tried three different microphones up to the $500 price range. After lots of research and reading product reviews, I decided to give the CAD GXL2200 a try. I've been using it mainly for vocals, but also for acoustic instruments. I am completely amazed by the quality of this microphone. The range, clarity and warmth of this mic is perfect for vocals, whether for song production or for live radio, but is absolutely amazing for acoustic instruments. At this price, I wouldn't expect this quality, but I would rate this at least comparable to a $500 microphone.

I have several studio mics. I was rebuilding my studio, when I noticed the cable to my main studio mic was missing. I searched but got impatient and ordered this "in the meantime." I LOVE this mic! It may be better than the tube mic I was trying to replace. I have recorded several projects on it, some music (acoustic and voice) some just recording bedtime stories for my kids for nights I'm not there. It really sounds good, requires no warm up and is very user friendly. I am so glad I bought this! If you are on the fence, get off!

I upgrade from a decent $20 dynamic mic bought off amazon a year ago to this CAD Condensor mic, and i have to say i noticed the difference instantly. The mixer i'm using is a Behringer QX1202usb with 48v phantom power(require for.this mic) and with the old dynamic Mic had a hum in the background. When i plugged this phatom powered condensor mic in i was pleased that the hum was now gone. I guess thats what happens when you spend alittle more money for a half decent mic. My voice sounds great on my podcast with no static or humming behind my voice. One warning for amature podcasters, beware this mic is sensative! It easily picks up tv or radio or fan or other background noises. You will need a quiet enviroment. However this is a plus if you have a desk stand like i do and don't feel like always leaning forward to speak. Your mouth can be 12 to 18 inches away and this will pick you up just fine. One word on the mount...it fits the mic well for rights side mounting, not sure how you could hang the mic from a boom using the cradle, however if your 5/8" boom/mic stand's mount is right side up it will work just fine. Im using the same desk top mic stand i had my dynamic mic clipped to. I like this mic so much i bought two extra's for my co-host and for when i have guests on my podcast.

In my radio business, and my 25 year singing career, you can bet I have used a lot of studio condenser mics. My husband had done many months of research and along with my advice purchased the MXL 990's for our studio here and they are truly stellar! Hell, even "The Stern Show™" uses them!Anyway, we needed some variety hubby said, we needed a "collection" for the many different voice types we have in studio as guest hosts and show guests come and go all the time.Well, I suggested he go with the CAD GXL 3000's as they certainly in my opinion are one of the best out there. Well, hubby with all his "tech specs" and lingo said that the response from these 2200's are VERY close to the 990'sWell, against my wishes purchased these as well as the 3000's and let me tell you, they are excellent. VERY close to the 990's but I feel there is more of a high end punch with these and it's a very good mic.PROS:Construction is solid, with a small but very good shockmount. Excellent quality finish applied to the outer casing for a nice look and I'm sure a long life.The sound is as I said crisp, clear with very nice highs and mids.When I tested, we ran through just our mixer, with no compression of effects and a small amount of EQ as we run our shows. All in all a very nice addition to our studio collection.CONS:The ONLY con I have was the packaging. Just a thin cardstock box with nothing more than small plastic airbags around it for shipping. It does come with a vinyl zip case for the mic itself, but nothing for the shockmount. Not a huge issue, but when compared with the MXL 990 that comes with a solid plastic road case, heavy foam insulation and a very nice quality presentation along with the useability of professional grade portability, it's a bit weak.Other than packaging, this is a solid studio condenser for voice and we highly recommend it!

I love my new mic. Affordable price and gives great recording quality. I use it in Studio One usually recording r&b vocals or rap. Only con is that the package does not include the proper shock mount adaptor attachment to connect it to a boom mic stand.

Love this Microphone. Works well and was easy to get up and running.

it's a basic cardioid large diaphragm [1 inch dia] w/bass tilt true condenser mic that c/w/ adequate shockmount cage. it c/w/ zipper leatherette bag 4 the mic.pros:bargain price[less than $60.] mic is good build quality & the shock mount is ok 4 the price.mic easily opened 2 change base tilt, the push button is clearly labeled & works smoothly.works well plugged directly in2 zoom R16 digital recorder phantom powered mic input.works well w/innogear 48volt phantom power supply jacked in2 zoom R6 non phantom powered mic inputs.works well w/cad pop filterit sounds [2 me] like it should given the published frequency response.the included mic description & frequency response [ well printed on coated poster stock ] is clear & gives u the info u need 2 use & operate the mic & is presented in the standard format established by the importers of the primo german makers like akg ,beyer or sennheiser, 40+ yrs ago. there is no poorly translated/presented chinese 2 english on or in the box it came in.cad is american based mic manufacturer w/a large line of american made mics, making this mic in china so price is quite low & qc seems good.cons:shock-mount needs washers in the angle adjustment joint so it can b adjusted smoothly, tightened firmly & locked in position.shock-mount mic clamp needs thicker felt so grip on mic body is secure enuf 2 hang mic upsidedown in overhead applications.box it comes in is very thin w/no foam or bubble pack. it is not heavy enuf 2 use 4 storage like the heavyweight box that samson mics come in [& samson gives u a zipper closed fitted case that is very nice].it wasn't free[ ! ].

I purchased a CAD GXL2200 as a backup to my AKG 214. I was pleasantly surprised when I plugged this mic into my console and gave it a quick tryout on vocals. Although a little light on the low end, a bit of EQ brings it right into line and warms up the sound. This mic has considerable high end presence and is quite articulate. Output is strong and can be used without an outboard mic preamp although a good preamp will bring out the finest in this mic. I have only had a chance so far to do a quick tryout with acoustic guitar and was impressed. I would probably recommend this mic as best for female and higher male vocals and acoustic instruments.Bottom line, I don't think you will find a better large diaphragm condenser in this price range. I would compare this mic to ones costing probably 5-10 times as much. Its a basic general purpose cardioid only mic that requires phantom power. It will work great for home/project studios, podcasts, etc. Well worth the money.

I was a little hesitant to purchase this mic at first because there weren't a lot of reviews on it and the price was low. I figured that I'd give it a go and much to my delight it delivers. No it's not a Neumann, it's not an AKG, it's not a fancy pants boutique mic. It's a mic that delivers good sound at an unreal price. It records well for electric amplified guitar as well as acoustic guitar. I have not yet tried it for vocals or drums but I'm sure that it will stand up and do the job. When I recorded my acoustic guitar I noticed that it has a brilliant top end that lets the strings sing clear and clean with a touch of sparkle. It also captures enough low end to let you know that you've got some bottom rolling for your sound. The construction of the mic seems good and the appearance is amazing. CAD even gives you a cleaning cloth to wipe off finger prints. The shock mount is solid. It looks a little thin but when you touch it you know that it's going to hold the mic just fine. This mic doesn't have a pad and only hosts one sound pattern but it delivers. The input connection is solid so you don't have to worry about a shorted connection. There are a lot of mics out there and a lot of them can be used in a variety of different situations. This one is a good choice for many. I don't know if anyone has ever recorded a Grammy winning vocal with this mic but it's not out of the realm of possibility. rock on.

Ok i have not used it yet but thats part of what i am going to tell you.It looks and feels great its got weight to it no parts on it or the 'mount' are cheaply made to start with.But things you will need to know are this is a condenser mic they require other products to make it work.You are going to need these to make it work-Phantom 48v power supply.-Xlr female to usb cord.-xlr female to male cord.-Stand of your choice.This is because this comes with the mic itself and the 'mount' the mount will not just sit on your desk because the cord will need to come out of there and its just not enough room.Then the mic requires a phantom power source that does not come with the wires either atleast mine did not. I bought a xlr female to usb but did not know the mic did not come with its own female to male xlr.So remember this is not a plug and use mic if you want quality you need to spend some extra cash on the supplies needed to power this bad boy.Like i said I have not used this but you can look up video reviews to hear it. from my understanding and opinion it sounds amazing.

Relatively awesome mic for the price point. I had been doing research on condenser microphones withing this price range for a few months before deciding to bite the bullet, so to speak, and purchase a set of these.Build Quality: Initial reaction, pretty solid. They have a nicely balanced weight to them and everything seems to be put together fairly well. Because I'm curious and ever the tinkerer I decided to take one apart and check out the inner workings. Sadly, inside the craftsmanship seems to take a small hit. Specifically, there was an ever so slightly loose screw in one, but that could just be from the shipping. And the components and wires inside aren't super high quality. I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker though, considering the true test for a mic is in the sound quality, but keep in mind you do get what you pay for in terms of build.Sound Quality: Much nicer than I expected. Again, these mics are fairly inexpensive, but they sound great. I'm running them through a Behringer Xenyx, but even on completely stock settings the sound quality is quite warm and rich. I was really surprised, I was half expecting them to come out sort of tinny and that I'd have to really EQ them to make them sound nicer but that was not the case.Final Say: If you're in the market for some inexpensive mics for a small podcast or some voice over work, you could do much worse than these.

This condenser microphone is amazing; no feedback, decently constructed suspension, easy to disassemble, and crystal clear output. My only issue with this mic is the fact that the thumb screw that locks the joint between the suspension and the mic stand was broken out of the box n(I'll post a picture when I get a chance). Although disappointing, 1/4" screws are easy to come by and I had a few on hand so I'd rather not wait for a replacement for a mechanical fix. I'll update in a few months to review its longevity, but altogether I would consider this a great buy!

I use this for mic'ing an acoustic guitar - sounds absolutely marvelous -(Billy Chrystal) - haven't used it on vocals yet - but it should work just fine, too> Nice gear, great price!

You would think the microphone would come with a cable to connect it to something... It doesn't. Also the interior managed to break during shipping somehow, so now it sometimes makes a raddling noise when I move it.

Not the exact what we were looking for, but we kept it. next will do better.

Decent for price. Sound is like all the Neumann Chinese knock-offs, but still usable.

I plan to change the capsule and internal preamp to match a C14 sound. I was told that these mikes have "good bones"

I originally gave this item only 1 star because I could not get it to work - it turns out I was using a faulty cable (I wasn't aware it was possible for an xlr cable to conduct sound, but not phantom power, so when I tested it with a guitar it worked so I figured it was ok. Got a new cable just to be sure, and now it works just fine). I would give 5 stars, but I think the mic has 2 pretty unfortunate design flaws.1) I would like a power LED so that you can see when the mic is actually receiving power (that would have saved me a lot of time and aggravation)2) There is a button on the inside of the mic that you need to disassemble the entire thing to get at - not that you necessarily need to use it all the time, but it is pretty inconvenient. Would it really be so hard to put the button on the outside? Also, I only even found out it was there because I couldn't get the damn thing to power on so I was researching it online and taking it apart to see if there was anything obviously wrong with it. It would be nice if it came with an instruction sheet.Now that its finally working I can say that it sounds great. The only drawback for me is that it is actually a little too sensitive - I can hear the cars driving outside and my cat walking around.Definitely a major step up from my internal mic and the crappy USB mic I was previously using. It also looks pretty sweet, and so far the shock mount is a nice feature, although everyone else on here says it will probably crap out very soon.

This is my first condenser microphone I have ever bought so when my package arrived I was very pleased to receive it. The first day my mic arrived it appear to work fine. I mean it was a big step up from the built in input I have been using. However there are I few complaints I do have with this mic. For one it gives a tremendous amount of fuzziness, which greatly effects the recording. Secondly, upon receiving it, the mic felt very loose at the top. Lastly, when I record my vocals appear to be dominant on one side. Now I'm not sure if condenser mics are supposed to operate this way or I just received a faulty mic.

It was a good starting mic... Not really a good mic, but it is a very cheap mic. It was VERY crispy and post production EQing corrected it but I'd rather have a mic with more of a flat EQ kind of feel. It had its use to mic a guitar, but still, fairly crispy.

The one I received was defective. Never got a decent signal out of it. I would literally have to scream into it with my lips almost pressed up to the cage. I'm giving it 2 stars because it's prolly a decent mic that I will never test. I switched it with a cheapo 'vintage style' mic I got off amazon into the same signal chain.. the signal came in much stronger although you can tell the low quality of the 'vintage' mic.*and yes I know this mic requires phantom power. I had it running into an audient id14 interface.

The Sound Quality is great and all in all is a good microphone. I love that it came with a carrying case. However, I cannot use it anymore because the Microphone bottom is loose for some reason and when I connect the Mic cable to it, it doesn't not work. At first, I thought it was just my mic cord so I replaced my old one with a more expensive one and still the microphone does not work which disappoints me. Also, the boom stand completely fell apart with 4 months. The screws came out and can no longer hold up the microphone :(

This mic is alright for the price. At first I thought it was broken or something because it is so weak. I can turn the mic nob almost to 10 and cannot even hear myself in the headphones. Its like it picks up all the background noise better than what's directly in front of it. I mean it still records well even tho u cnt hear yourself, but with a lot of EQing and a couple inserts u can bring the clarity out of it. I just like to hear my voice a little in the headphones while recording so BOO lol

While it was working this was an awesome microphone. My son loved it but, within two months, it begin to intermittently go on and off before finally failing to work at all.

Of the multi-pattern options, only one gave signal, the other two were silent. The spider cage was not threaded to mount on a stand. Poor quality control. Returned.

Great reviews and all, Yet since I got it, it never worked quite well, today it was confirmed the microphone is gone, since it would be cheaper to buy a new one. Hope no one else has this experience.

While the microphone itself has excellent sound-reproduction qualities, the build itself is far from solid enough for use by even the most casual of audiophiles. In my particular case, I never got to mount the unit to my mic stand before the inferior quality of the materials showed itself.The issue here was the mount tension screw, which is die-cast in the same fashion as the rest of the mic housing. Upon the first mounting of the cage to the stand, merely thumb-tightening the screw caused it to shear off, leaving a portion of it embedded in the mount and the thumbscrew in my hand, with the mount now unable to support its own weight let alone the microphone included in the kit; The cage is 6oz, and the mic is 15oz: the hinge and screw are just not up to supporting the 1.5-pound unit by itself let alone even without a cord in place.it would have been a simple, low cost thing to include a standard, drop-forged screw instead of the die-cast version, and if I'd realized the flaw prior to attempting to mount the cage, I'd have made the substitution myself. But because the screw is embedded in the socket, I'm afraid this one is due for a return and refund.As a side note,while the cage golds the microphone securely and isolates it from the rest of the mount, the shock cords included also appear substandard, apparently glued together then covered with heat-shrink tubing over the join; Inexpensive, run-of-the-mill ladies' hair bands, which feature a metal, crimped join, appear stronger duty than what I see used here.
